stan twins the canon cptsd brothers i will always think about all your unaddressed issues that would make perfect plot fuel for your spinoff
and also the whole 'stan getting that poem by bill via a website which contrasts with bill getting one from the axolotl via a website' foreshadowing thing
like idk i would love something like su future but like more optimistic, aka not an accumulated breakdown that has to be mostly resolved off screen at the end :/// but something thats being kinda addressed throughout? (although would love to see one of them turn into a monster thats always fun lol)
stan having severe issues from his dad and those years of being homeless that we keep on getting more info on but never really getting confronted on (the drifter catalogue and tijuana incident...), him being completely alone for like twenty years when running the shack before soos comes along to the point that 1998 is noted as his low point, and him not really learning about bill+what he did to ford until ages after he killed him if he ever did get the full context
while i think amnesia and everyone seeing him as a hero actually helped with stan's 'i'm a worse version of my brother' thing its still a lingering issue too and we now got him being insecure over his own hands
ford being immediately thrown from 'being tortured by bill' to 'being stuck in the multiverse and being chased by bounty hunters constantly', him fully expecting himself to die when destroying bill, and him only now being safe for the first time in 30 years ....relatively safe, he's still in constant danger because of course he is
idk in the end the series wants them to be happy and they deserve it, its why i wasn't too worried about the book being like 'ooh bill is back!! and the book is haunting ford' thing cos i knew they'll be ok
#stan pines#ford pines#stanley pines#stanford pines#gravity falls#stan twins#as for the 'still on your mind' thing to me its stan literally thinking about bill despite ford resolving to move past it#or alternatively me on my same coin theory obsession lmao#me yelling and screaming at ouroboros being used to link to the axolotl and bill and how ford didn't actually keep it#which brings up even more questions about it reappearing in the shack when stan takes over#of course even if him realising about reincarnation being a thing i think its still way less to deal with than his actual issues#something something a same soul doesnt mean much when he already proved himself a better person a million times over#idk my thoughts on reincarnation as a concept is like eh??? anyway#also completely unrelated but stan writing fanfic means he knows what soos meant when he was talking about stan fics#soos seems like a gen fic writer especially with the ones we got as those promos#the train one where he comes up with a giant backstory for the setting that has nothing to do with the fic bros is super funny#but meanwhile we have stan the canonical smut writer who had to be writing it that summer#would he be a self insert shipper? would he projecting on the duchess instead? is he both???#i have many questions#then again judging from hows theres a wedding scene that he got super emotional over he might just be a shipper????#this has nothing to do with my original post#...or does it cos the axolotl last appears reacting to stan freaking out about count li--#anyway if you think this post is longer than my usual its cos i physically made myself delete most tags and put it in the actual post

So it occurs to me that I posted most of their lore on my OC blog (though a few posts on here have the story info) and honestly I think it's very important to note that the entire reason a guy from Florida is recruited to help defeat the demon lord isn't him as the hero. His younger brother (by about ten years younger) is the Chosen Hero and... not very good at it. So the goddess (Solei) who had selected the hero has to begrudgingly go back to earth and convince his older brother to help save her world.
(Also Reynold admits to Solei that "Sascha could never be a bad influence. He's the best impulse control I've ever had" and she really doesn't like to hear it. That's terrifying.)
#my characters#sascha is The demon lord and there is truly only one at a time#solei however is simply a goddess - not the only one of divinity#i dont actually know if thats been mentioned on either art blog lmao#also its not pictured here but reynold is recruited and only asks for one favor when in the other world (from solei)#he wants to be a woman while he helps his brother#she thinks its a weird flex but ok whatever buddy you can be a woman#and the logic is not him actually wanting to be one its just you see his younger brother finds it weird#to have a guy cling to him and dote on him like reynold does and said One Time WHY COULDNT YOU BE A SISTER THIS IS WEIRD#and so reynold is briefly rey for about a month before being held hostage by sascha and hes like... super polite#and asks her if she was cursed and so shes like uhhh what and he mentions looking at her gives him a headache#because the core and the outer appearance arent the same and he can revert her back to her original form if she wants#and she does so rey goes back to reynold which is very nice and reynold appreciates it#because honestly looking at rey in a mirror gives HIM a headache cause solei designed his appearance#and it was so bright thank you demon lord for giving the florida man his natural boring look back#also reynold will always carry sunglasses because solei can just appear and she is way too bright to deal with without eye protection#solei is not amused and thinks its basically slander against her godly appearance and reynold just smiles at her and tells her tough luck#he wants his vision for his new hot husband she can deal with a little insubordination#florida man begs for torture bc he can handle that and he knows it#is instead handed courtesy and manners and doesnt know what to do with it - quickly developing what he claims is NOT stockholm syndrome#solei and sascha quietly muttering about what that could possibly mean cause they dont know what this guy is talking about

I am currently watching the Death Note Drama (2015) and I couldn't help but notice how the characterization for drama!Light seems a lot closer to the manga than in the anime in a sense that both manga and drama Light have not developed the "god complex" yet early on in the series.
Expanding just because. Manga!Light did lose weight and sleep for five days when he did the killings. He hid himself in a blanket when he realized he killed two people. He was willing to sacrifice his life because it's already a "point of no return," meaning he can't stop even though he wanted to.
You know, very like his drama counterpart. Yeah, Ryuk actively manipulates drama!Light into the continuous use of the Death Note though, BUT even that feels a lot more closer to the manga because if you've read this analysis post about Light, you'd understand. Here's a TLDR tho, Light told Ryuk he'd be "god of the new world" because of three reasons;
(1) Ryuk is looking for entertainment.
(2) Ryuk could very much kill when he wanted to. What better way to entertain a bored shinigami by doing something unexpected?
(3)-this one is of my own opinion- Light was offended.
Anyways, back to the manga, we see Ryuk appearing and then proceeds to tell Light he dropped the note cause he was bored and that probably was like an ice cold bucket poured in Light "admired by all" Yagami's head. He thought he was "chosen" yet Ryuk denies this. Yagami Light is a prideful man, he has to make himself feel he was chosen because he's "special" as it always has been the case for him. He starts developing this idea in his head that "you're wrong ryuk, i am special because i am the only one who can do all these 'sacrifices' to enact justice. I will be someone special! I will be the new god of this world!"
Which makes you realize why he tells Ryuk that in what qualification does he see himself deserving the title, it's because he's the top student of japan! Yagami Light is so prideful he thinks he's doing something heroic and altruistic, when in reality, his pride was the biggest factor why he started this "kira" thing.
That's why i said drama!Light is closer to manga!Light in this regard. However drama!Light is just a lot more genuine and good in his intentions, but with people screaming in his ear "Kira is our savior! Kira is kami!" it's so easy to indulge to in the voices until you start to believing in yourself that what they say is real. Like waking up the pride and arrogance lying sleep in his subconscious.
This is why the anime differs slightly at Light's origin. Anime!Light is already a man with a "god-complex."
Imagine anime!Light trekking up a huge mountain of praises and he was just one step closer to the peak when suddenly he can't find any stone to further advance in his steps so he just stays there, dormant and bored because maybe this is the only height he can climb with his limited resources but suddenly, a magical rope appears and he uses that to pull himself towards the upmost top. The magical rope was the Death Note. The one thing he was waiting for so he can reach the higher heights.
So when he claimed "I will be god of the new world." you CAN see that this man REALLY believes he is higher that all humans, that he was a "god" over them, and the Death Note was a testament to that.
Meanwhile, manga!Light and drama!Light took its time to actually solidify their god complexes over the course of the series.
Short mention for movie!Light!! A man who had an extremely high sense of justice that actually believed in the justice system so he was heartbroken to know the truth that the system is very much flawed. He gets the Death Note and decides to do what the law can not. So I think he had also developed his "god complex" much earlier than the manga and drama Light because the very reason movie!Light started killing is because "The law is useless, the police is incompetent. My judgement is better and it actually BRINGS results." is a perfect recipe for feelings of superiority over the others.
It's really interesting, how these Light's vary from one another.

FINALLY DONE WITH THE ISAT OC! SOLEIL!!!
Tumblr media
The creature... So first things first is some info about them pre- disappearance of The Country. They're a loyal follower and avid worshipper of The Country. They love the Universe sooo much that they made a wish to be able to read the stars, and the Universe answered. I like to think that the stars are talkative, some can predict what will happen in the near future, some are just "chatting" to each other about the stuff happening in the world they overlook. It's a somewhat useful ability that Soleil used to use to be able to either predict someone's future (rarely though, the stars hold many different futures and it's hard to figure out which is whose) or use it during funeral rites to have a more reassuring experience to the ones mourning that their loved one arrived safely among the stars.
And then they found out about The Cursing of Chateau Castle-- they kiiiinda got Really obsessed with the book series that they wanted to know more about it but there wasn't any more copies of it in the Country's language so what better way to deal with that but teaching itself how to understand the Vaugardian language, and by doing that they got to learn more about the Vaugardian culture and was really amazed by it (considering that they spent most of their life with the Country's culture instead, learning about a different culture is a great feeling). One thing led to the other and it also led Soleil to travelling to Vaugarde (something that their family wasn't all that happy with but they stay silly).
And so we're back at the present time! Now to talk about some details on its appearance.
Its Craft type is Scissors! The eye on the center of its chest and the eye by its nape are in fact EYES and not just accessories (although they did try to make the eye on its chest appear to be like a mix between a star shape and the Change Symbol).
After spending some time in Vaugarde, they learned about Body Craft in which case they decided to experiment with it in regards to its eyes.
Since being in Vaugarde, there wasn't much use to its star sight and there also isn't a way to "turn it off." So instead, they decided to separate its Normal sight from the Star sight by adding another pair of eyes on its body.
The eyes on its face are blind. They can't see through it anymore but they Can still see the stars (they can't read it anymore however cuz of the Country's disappearance).
If they focus on the stars using those eyes, they'd get a REALLY bad headache and a star sign appears on its eyes. Nothing to be afraid of probably, its head just Really hurts.
The glass covering the eye on its nape is a one way mirror. You won't be able to see the eye but the eye can still see you.
With its vision split, it actually took them awhile to get used to that. It takes a lot of concentration and focus to see both from behind and from the front. When Soleil gets tired from doing that, they either close the eye on its nape (if the place is safe enough) or unfocus it enough to the point that most of its vision becomes blurry with only being able to see blobs of shapes and shadows which helps them be alert enough in case something comes running at them from behind.
All the round objects you see on its body are Bombs. They found out about Bomb Craft in Jouvente and was so fascinated by it that their inventor brain (inventing, crafting, and repairing stuff is a special interest of theirs). They now like making bombs and inventing new ones (only they have the recipe of those).
The bombs they invented only detonates via a Craft spell, it's basically as safe as an ordinary ball to handle unless detonated. Also the scissors at the top of their head has a cover on its tip. It's Very Sharp. They mainly use that (either the tip or the scissor blades itself) to cut the bombs dangling on its body.
Despite the multitude of bombs they carry, they aren't actually much of a fighter (they just like bombs). Most of its Craft spells are basic/beginner level. The one and only Powerful Craft spell they have is a shield/defense spell that they practiced several times. It's capable of negating all damage for 2 turns with a 5 turn cooldown, they wanted to master that spell to make it so that bombs won't hurt them no matter the close proximity.
Its hand signs are "broken." They used to mimic the hand signs that the Universe (I'm mainly referring to my design of the Universe) makes. But after forgetting about everything in regards to it, they can't remember what hand signs they used to make but the familiar feeling was still there.
A huge fan of The Cursing of Chateau Castle, to the point of practically making it part of its identity now that a HUGE chunk of its memory is missing. Its outfit is a modified version of what they think Lady Irene-Janine-Karine wears.
Its personality is a mixture of Lord Josephandre, Pierre-Jacques-Erneste, and Lady Irene-Janine-Karine (aka the Chateau Trio!!! Love those three...).
Its name, "Soleil" is just something they found in a book and decided to use for itself. They don't remember its name anymore.
#ariart#ariaoc#isat oc#isat spoilers#theres some danger in the fact that sol took pierres personality too considering that pierre betrayed the party that one time--#honestly if i think about sol harder i begin to realize that theres A LOT of things wrong about them mentally#what forgetting a country with a belief system you were incredibly loyal to does to someone i think.#also making it so that sol was the npc that translated that one issue of the cursing of chateau castle from vaugardian#into the language of the Country. if you were to enter its home. youll be greeted by a LOT of bookcases and shelves and books#and therell be at least 4 of those dedicated to the cursing of chateau castle. original version and the ones they translated#there will ofc be sections where its about the Country tho. actually i think if siffrin visited its home he'll be able to know more#about the Country. if he became close friends enough to be able to enter the rooms with the books of it. sol couldnt read them#anymore but feels as though those books were important so they moved it elsewhere for safekeeping. making sure to maintain it too#also yea you can now see exactly how im pushing the isat worldbuilding to its limits via body craft#i like to think that if in case body craft operates in a similar manner to alchemy in that by Changing something theres an equal#exchange to be given. if its Changing your appearance to a new one then the equal value to be exchanged is the Old appearance#but if for example theres a missing body part. youd have to find Something else of equal value to replace it then#and by going off of that same principle. if a body part has two functions (like with sol's eyes having a special sight to it)#then by Changing its appearance. the equal value follows the same principle of the: exchange Old for New#except that in sol's case. with the addition of a body part that has two functions. technically speaking they can Separate the#two functions while still following the usual method. it's just that now theres another set of eyes on its body. still a New appearance tho

Ittoku fact:He hates wearing pants, especially tight pants, especially especially if they're tight around the ankle. They make him claustrophobia and trapped, and alot of the time the fabric he hates like denim(denim mixed with cotton is fine for him however),polyester, wool, leather, and whatnot. He rarely wears pants, and only owns 1 pair.If he has to wear pants and he has th choice of what pants they'd be loose, made out of cotton, linen,or silk.If he doesnt have the choice he'd almost be on the verge of tears or freaking the whole time.Shorts for him are a different issues. He hates wearing shorts that go past mid thigh on him,and they have to be made out of cotton or silk, and the waste band has to be a stretchy material, not itchy, and not tight on him,he doesn't really like looser shorts and prefers not to be able to feel the shorts on him.Elastic tends to be too tight and itches him,so he isn't the biggest fan of elastic in most cases.
He also hates wearing socks, the elastic itches his legs and he feels like his ankles and whatnot are being strangled,he also hated how tight the elastic is ,how it itches and the mark it leaves on him.He doesn't like tights either since he hated the the waistband,he especially hates fishnets, they scratch him. Most of the time he forces himself to wear socks or thighs since the majority of his shoes require him to wear them unless he wants blisters and he hates getting blisters.
Additionally,he also hates when he shoes are tight,he struggles not crying or freaking out when they are.Its worse when it's tight around the ankle or the bridge of the foot(? Is that a part of your foot,I think it is).
As well as hating tight stuff to be around his ankles he isn't the biggest fan of having tight stuff around is wrists either(though he can't really feel it) like bracelets, gloves with elastic bands etc,he struggles keeping them on.He also tends to fidget with his jewelry. And in the same vain he doesnt like wearing bandaids and always end up taking them off, even if he gets another one, he always ends up taking it off,it's a struggle.
tagging @secretmailservice cause I want someone to see this
Also this totally wasn't me giving my oc some of my issues totally not

Play for Today: Evelyn (BBC, 1971)
"Do you ever get the feeling you're cracking up?"
"Do you?"
"Well, I - I was asking you."
"It's your birthday."
"Oh, I don't have birthdays anymore, I stopped having birthdays a long time ago."
"You're forty."
"That was a very cruel thing to say."
#play for today#evelyn#single play#bbc#1972#rhys adrian#piers haggard#edward woodward#angela scoular#phyllida law#edward de souza#charles bolton#graeme macdonald#Adrian originally wrote Evelyn as a radio play‚ first broadcast on BBC radio 4 in 1969; it was a success‚ winning prizes and#considerable critical acclaim. it is also‚ tho‚ very much a radio play: consisting almost entirely of bedroom conversations between just#two characters‚ as well as phone calls. a challenging thing to adapt for television‚ and this PfT version does seem to have come in for#some criticism bc of its reliance on mannered‚ stylized dialogue (as well as fairly frequent nudity‚ a non issue on radio of course but#fairly unusual on british tv in 1971). it is mannered‚ it is very much not 'natural' in performance and feels very stagey in that specific#mid century way‚ but i dont think it's an unsuccessful bit of tv. Eddy boy is an anonymous business type obsessed with his age and gripped#by midlife crisis; he's having an affair with the younger‚ seemingly more free spirited Scoular‚ herself married. their artificial bliss#(much repetition of 'i do love you' and how 'wonderful' the sex is) is undermined by the fact that she still loves her husband‚ and also#loves several other young men she has also taken as lovers. Woodward's quiet gnawing paranoia and haunted feelings of inadequacy are#beautifully played‚ as is the gradual revelation of Scoular's rather shallow nature (she repeats the same lines and declarations of love#verbatim to other men on the phone)‚ as is Woodward's difficulty in reconciling his hypocrisy; he invents a fictional girlfriend‚ Evelyn‚#to try and make Scoular jealous and presumably more possessive of him. it's a rather bleak little thing‚ although frequently quite witty#and the performances are all quite excellent. it also feels very 1970s in its foregrounding of Woodward's insecurity over‚ for example‚ the#feelings of (or effect on) his wife (a sharply written P Law who makes just two brief appearances at the very beginning and end)#it won't be to many modern viewers tastes i suppose‚ but this does have.. something. and at the very least Eddy gets to do his mildly#neurotic thing without it having the underlying sense of brittle violence (just mildly pathetic middle aged angst)#PfT would move away from this style of drama as the series developed‚ favouring social realism over theatrical artifice

something that is very funny to me is how, for all their efforts, i don't believe that clash managed to fully remove gender from toons. sure, anyone can have or not have eyelashes, and anyone can wear whatever clothes they want, but gender is still in the game to a degree. i assume it was baked so deeply into the code that they did their best to make it such that, from the perspective of the average person, it effectively doesn't exist anymore, though it must be handled behind-the-scenes.
you can tell it's still there in some capacity by how your toon's model changes when switching between shorts and skirts. for one, the model flickers--its animation resets because its model has completely changed between the Boy/Shorts Model and the Girl/Skirt Model. additionally, the shirts on the two models are noticeably different in several ways: the boy model's sleeves are larger; the boy model's shirt goes ever so slightly higher up the toon's neck; the boy model's abdomen protrudes slightly further out.
from this information, you might reasonably conclude that clash managed to allow on-the-fly gender changes for toons. that is to say, when you wear shorts, your toon is using the boy model, and when you switch to a skirt, your toon instantaneously switches to using the girl model. however, i don't think this is the case (i could be 100% wrong though, i'm not knowledgeable about this). if you watch old TTO fashion videos of girl toons, you'll see the same model changes and behavior that you see in all clash toons today. you can even see it in TTR today if you log in, make a girl toon, and switch between skirts and shorts in create-a-toon, since it appears that TTR has maintained TTO's gender code in this sense.
clash forcing toons to switch between boy models and girl models sounds like a lot of work. therefore, i think they quite simply made all toons be girl toons in the code, possibly even removing boy toons altogether. think about it. girl toons already had the (limited) capacity to switch between skirts and shorts, whereas boy toons had no capacity (beyond exploits and glitches) to wear skirts. it seems like the most efficient route would be for clash to remove eyelashes from the girl toon model and make them an optional accessory thing, then re-code (or entirely re-make) all shirts and bottoms to be wearable by girl toons.
it's the only thing i can think of to explain the fact that all clash toon models behave in the same manner as TTO girl toons. there is no other reason for the model's animation to reset when changing between shorts and skirts.
there IS still gender in clash... all toons are girls.

if i had a nickel for everytime one of my original stories featured a character chock full of parental trauma who views their life's sole purpose as being of use to others, got a crazy magical power forced upon them and then decided to use a supposedly irreversible amount of it to sacrifice themselves to save their friends, only to have the friends stick around to find a way to bring them back, i'd have 3 nickels, which isn't a lot but-

“One of the many casualties of the war’s devastation was the illusion of manly honor and glory in battle. Under conditions of unremitting exposure to the horrors of trench warfare, men began to break down in shocking numbers. Confined and rendered helpless, subjected to constant threat of annihilation, and forced to witness the mutilation and death of their comrades without any hope of reprieve, many soldiers began to act like the women diagnosed with hysteria. They screamed and wept uncontrollably. They froze and could not move. They became mute and unresponsive. They lost their memory and their capacity to feel. The number of psychiatric casualties was so great that hospitals had to be hastily requisitioned to house them. According to one estimate, mental breakdowns represented 40 percent of British battle casualties. Military authorities attempted to suppress reports of psychiatric casualties because of their demoralizing effect on the public.
The emotional stress of prolonged exposure to violent death was sufficient to produce a neurotic syndrome resembling hysteria in men. When the existence of a combat neurosis could no longer be denied, medical controversy, as in the earlier debate on hysteria, centered upon the moral character of the patient. In the view of traditionalists, a normal soldier should glory in war and betray no sign of emotion. Certainly he should not succumb to terror. The soldier who developed a traumatic neurosis was at best a constitutionally inferior human being, at worst a malingerer and a coward. Medical writers of the period described these patients as “moral invalids.” Some military authorities maintained that these men did not deserve to be patients at all, that they should be court-martialed or dishonorably discharged rather than given medical treatment.
The most prominent proponent of the traditionalist view was the British psychiatrist Lewis Yealland. In his 1918 treatise, Hysterical Disorders of Warfare, he advocated a treatment strategy based on shaming, threats, and punishment. Hysterical symptoms such as mutism, sensory loss, or motor paralysis were treated with electric shocks. Patients were excoriated for their laziness and cowardice. Those who exhibited the “hideous enemy of negativism” were threatened with court martial.”
- Judith Herman, Trauma and Recovery (1992)
y’know…. conversations about world war ii would be a lot more bearable and constructive if white men found that period rightly horrific rather than pornographic
