do you have any movie recommendations for people that are trying to start watching non-mainstream horror movies 🙈 ?? thank you if you answer btw !!

AHH sorry it took me so long to answer I'm on vay-cay!! I love giving recommendations lol

So in the way of non-mainstream but still quality horror there is a lot of variety! I personally like obscure cult classics and underground indie gore stuff myself, but here is kind of a general list of a handful of lesser known horror flicks that I think any genre fan will like!

(in no particular order, with no particular theme other than me finding them underrated)

1. Mad God (2021) -> beautiful and gross and weird mixed media (mainly stop motion) surreal film, kind of dystopian. Creepy as hell!

2. The Lodge (2019) -> all the directing skill and theming of an A24 film but mysteriously unpopular! Also really really cool twist with who the villain is... Tw for animal death tho.

3. Possessor (2020) -> about an assassin who literally possesses people in order to get closer to her marks and it has like a freaky affect on her. It's super trippy and was made by fuckin Cronenburg’s son !! What more can I say.

4. Hush (2016) -> kind of a classic breaking and entering suspense building horror movie, but with an interesting framing device of the main character being deaf and mute. There r some pretty intense and scary scenes in this would highly recommend.

5. Hell House LLC (2015) -> this really every well executed found footage film about a group of people trying to start a haunted house Halloween attraction in an actually haunted/possessed building!

6. The Woman (2011) -> ooorgrhrjrh it was directed by the guy who made May (2002), another great movie, and this one is similarly uncomfortable but it's way less campy. Its this really really intense commentary about sexism and misogyny and it is HARD TO WATCH but I. I love it. The acting is a particular highlight. Tw for incest and s/a and... A whole mess of stuff. The lead man is perfectly detestable.

7. Teeth (2007) -> very infamous but I don't think most ppl have actually seen it and seen how good it is!!

8. Inside (2007) -> if you wanna get into new french extremity!! A genre you may know for Martyrs (2008), this is one I highly recommend. Another breaking and entering type deal but considerably more graphic than Hush.

9. Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006) -> a deconstruction of Ur classic slasher told in a mockumentary style about an aspiring serial killer, in a world where slashing is kind of... Just... A career? Idk it's really clever and fun.

10. Tremors (1990) -> coolest beasts ive ever seen in a movie. Need I say more? It is also very funny.

So first of all, if you think that's gonna stop the boys from simping over you, you've got it wrong 😖🖐️

The boys would literally take it as a challenge to get your softer nature out, especially Atsumu.

I GENUINELY think he'd find it really hot whenever you snap back at him, or tell him off. (maybe he's like Nishinoya and Tanaka in that sense 🙄)

Constantly pesters you, and although you don't give him a reply often (because he's annoying as fuck), if you ever acknowledge him slightly, he WILL flirt with you.

Beware tho, even if he comes off as flirty and charismatic, he's literally just a dorky small baby and genuinely wants your attention because he thinks you're the coolest person ever.

And if you're ever nice to him, you can best bet he'll replay that moment in his mind before sleeping EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT.

Y/n, earlier that day: don't get hurt. I don't want to have to deal with anyone on this team being injured

Atsumu at 3 a.m: s-she cares about me 🥺🥺

I think Osamu would vibe really well with you. He's not annoying, he's really really chill, and he has a pretty sharp tongue himself.

Judges people as an attempt to make you laugh, and he sees it as a personal victory if he can get you to crack a smile or smirk. He just doesn't make a big deal about it, unlike his twin xD

Osamu: y/n look at that guy. he's totally crushing on his brother's best friend, could he not be more obvious about it??

Y/n: *cracks a smirk* yeah, it does seem so.

Osamu, internally: ✨v i c t o r y i s s w e e t✨

He also cooks for you pretty often, and even if you protest against accepting it, you'll usually find a bento hidden in your locker or bag.

He knows you might not accept it straight, so he finds other ways to get it to you. Osamu actually thinks of you as a cooler sister that he says "he'd trade Atsumu for"

In general, the twins are the life of Inarizaki and although they're sometimes annoying, they mean well and it's plain to see that they love you.

Kita loves how smart and analytical you are. I've said this before, I'll say it again— Kita thinks brains are sexy 😤

Especially when you call the team to give your insights about their opponents, or give them ideas on how to improve their play, Kita is literally there like “I'm so glad she's ours”

Because you would be a dangerous asset to other teams, and Kita is the most thankful that you're with them.

He's also a really good leader and although the two of you don't have heart-to-hearts or conversations like the twins, you know he'll ALWAYS be there for you.

Like once, it was raining and practice was cancelled, so you decided to wait in school until the rain subsided (because you didn't want to get wet), and our sweet Kita searched for you in every single classroom until the finally found you and walked you home. That's just the dynamic you had with him

He also often checks up on you, even when it's unrelated to volleyball. Have you done your homework? have you ate breakfast this morning? although you're usually sarcastic with the twins and most of the other members of the team, you can't bring yourself to do so with Kita.

The respect you guys have for each other is unmatched and that's probably why you're such a golden duo in Inarizaki. The leader and the analytical manager.

And now Suna. I think Suna would be the member you have the deepest bond with. you truly allow him to see who you are inside, and he does the same. You guys really just click.

It started with him complaining about Atsumu, and slowly progressed into you letting Suna be the only member to have physical contact with you, but only when the others aren't looking.

Sometimes, if you guys are the only two people in the gym, he'll nap on your lap or lean on your shoulder.

If you didn't already know, like everyone else in Inarizaki, he has a crush on you 😖🖐️ like damn you thought Atsumu had it bad? nah, Suna has it the worst.

He literally asks his little sister to let him practice braiding her hair, just so he'll be perfect when he someday asks to do yours.

But he always chickens out because he's scared you'll say no 😭😭 he's internally very shy, okay? 🥺🥺

He's literally your best friend. You guys have study sessions together, anime nights, literally anything, he's right there with you. The rest of the team are literally not aware of how close the two of you are.

Until one day, Atsumu tries daring you to kiss Suna on the forehead, and instead of flat-out refusing (like you've done before when he's dared you to kiss him, or Akagi) you shrug and gently kiss Suna on the forehead, causing Suna to smile and ruffle your hair.

The rest of the team is just shocked.

Atsumu: what is this FUCKERY?? is y/n literally WILLINGLY touching someone ??¿¿

Y/n and Suna: *smirks*

Atsumu, close to tears: okay

But the rest of the team soon accept you and Suna have a pretty special bond, and that you're genuinely softer when it comes to him.

You don't snap at him much, and as they've noticed, Suna has started being more brave about leaning on your shoulder or sleeping on your lap.

Of course, the rest of the team (with the exception of Kita) is jealous. But hey, they just don't have Suna's charm, okay? xD

You make Suna want to try harder, and he's way more motivated to give it his all in every single game. Mostly because he wants you to be proud of him.

He definitely has a nickname for you, but he will only use it when he's sure you guys are alone. And in return, you call him "Rin" which makes his heart flutter 🥺🥺

KAHDKSS I TOOK SO LONG WITH THE SUNA ONE PLEASE IM TURNING BOTH OF US INTO EVEN BIGGER SUNA SIMPS (as if we weren't already xD)

Now onto Aran !! Aran is a softie who (like Kita) respects you a great deal. He'll fend Atsumu and Osamu off if he senses you aren't having a great day.

He's also pretty good at giving you your space but he checks up on you every once in a while if anyone is bothering you.

Although he's shy about it, Aran actually comes to you when he doesn't understand a homework question. You're super smart and he knows you won't make him feel bad about not knowing.

And it makes you feel happy to know he trusts you, so you help him as best as you can. It's a little secret of yours that the other members don't know about.

It especially lights your day up when he gets a good grade and whispers a silent "thank you" to you in class.

In return, will help you with anything you ask for. No questions asked.

And now, last but not least, sunshine Akagi!! I think he's a total Hinata Shoyo, so he might annoy you a bit at first because of his bright personality.

But deep down inside, you love how easily he gets people to smile and slowly find yourself warming up to him.

And Akagi is really determined to get you to smile (at least once a day) so he cracks the corniest jokes or makes puns.

It has become a thing between the two of you, where Akagi tells you a joke a day, and you rate it out of ten.

Gone are the days when you found him annoying. And now, even if you won't tell him outright— you really do think he's one of the brightest people in your life.

Additional headcanons

CHEERING YOU UP— whenever you feel quieter than usual, or a bit more sarcastic, the boys immediately know something is wrong and rush over to make you feel okay. Literally, it's almost like they've abandoned practice. And eventhough you tell them to get back to it, they refuse to leave until you're feeling better. Suna usually gives you a hug and kisses your forehead, whilst Akagi cracks jokes. Then, (and eventhough you protest) Atsumu lists off all the things you should love about yourself, whilst Osamu buys you ice cream (food is, after all, the best cure for anything). Aran is literally ready to HUNT the person who affected your mood down, and kill them, whilst Kita is literally just holding him back and making sure things don't go overboard. Even if you aren't fully cheered up by then, you'd have laughed a whole lot and know how much they care for you, so honestly... how could you stay sad?

REACTING TO YOU TELLING THEM OFF— Suna is literally just meh about it. He can't take you seriously because he's a dork who thinks he's not included in the list of "idiots" (but no Suna, u mf, you ARE included -_-). Atsumu thinks it's hot 👀 (as I mentioned above), Akagi is genuinely upset/ready to sob and vows to do better. Kita is proud of you for telling them off before he could do it (Kita is not included in the "idiots". How could he? he's PERFECT 🖐️). Osamu and Aran have similar reactions, because they end up apologizing and try to change tactics and do better.

HOW THEY'D ACT WHEN YOU START DATING SUNA— (because this is honestly inevitable, wbk 😭❤️). Atsumu would be jealous. Petty and would call Suna "pretty boy" every chance he gets. Leave him, im sure he'll get over it 🥺🥺 Osamu is pretty jealous too, but he'll never show it and focuses instead on your happiness. Kita approves, and honestly thinks you're a good influence on Suna. Aran is protective of you, and would literally gun Suna down if he ever hurt you (but he won't. Suna loves you, he'd literally jump down a cliff before ever hurting you 😤🖐️) and Akagi is cheerful as before, but extra glad because you seem to smile a bit more often (and Akagi loves your smile).

Ur welcome!! :] I’m glad ur feeling better!! Here r some headcanons

-Sonic used to go to school, but he gave up on that when he adopted Tails. It’s not that he didn’t have time for the both of them, he just wanted to spend extra time w the coolest guy ever

-Tails gets nervous when people poke over his head while he works, but he’s ok with Sonic laying his chin on his head while he makes blueprints and stuff

-Amy works on a restoration project where she replaces all the spots Eggman rlly fucked up with a flower garden. On the weekends, Shadow helps out. His favorite flowers are baby breaths and snapdragons <3

-Silv also helps out, but he sucks at it and manages to kill anything. Amy gives him seeds and gardening tools to take to the future tho

-Knux has Mighty and Ray watch over the Master Emerald while he goes on adventures with Sonic. This is bc they’re best friends ofc but also Mighty is the most peaceful guy w excessive power that he knows, and Ray comes as a bonus

-Rouge has a habit of just picking up her friends as she flies. Shadow is subject to this most of the time, but Tails gets super happy when he’s finally not the one carrying others

-Shadow and Espio are such good friends but they never rlly speak or hang out so Shadow would just be in Espio’s room watching some anime and Vector has to process in 10 seconds how Shadow got into their house and if Shadow has a gun on him or not

-Vanilla and Vector r everyone’s mom and dad, but Sonic would try to brush it off, but he gets really nervous around Vanilla and super excited whenever she compliments or praises him. And bc of TSR, Silver clings to Vector as a source of security during hard times when he needs an adult

-Blaze has an excessive amount of jewelry she doesn’t wear, so she gave Silver his piercing and a bunch of gold earrings. She also uses Silver as her personal dress up doll and tries to hide it, but he doesn’t mind

-Shadow is. So fucking soft man. He used to feel like cardboard but Rouge pampered him so he’s always super fluffy. He’s touch adverse tho so it’s a look don’t touch thing

-Tails is also super soft n cuddly!! But his tails contain so much muscle power that if you’re laying on them he can easily flick you right back up

-Sonic always smells like outside. Like a kid who played in the forest and dug holes in the ground for 2 hours type of outside. He kinda stinks, but after a stressful day it’s nice to be around him bc his smell reminds you of nature and just a calming presence yknow ??

kindlesting: unnaturally tall ginger tabby tom with a white chest and feet. he also has white anime hair. i dont have much about him oops

cactusdash: greenish-grey tom with darker grey and white markings. he has a dog bite scar and two long scars on his neck, and a small scar on his nose. he also has anime hair and is in a relationship with estate

estate (kittypet): a non binary kittypet with red somali cat-like markings. they r really big and really fluffy! they wear a fancy blue collar and have a blue bow tied around their tail. their boyfriend is cactusdash

monsteryowl (monster like car): a she-cat with a white head, gray body, dark grey legs and black feet and belly. she also has a black marking on her face. she has lots of curly fur all over her body, except her legs, which are less fluffy. she has really long fangs and is always loud

hoofsnort: a cream coloured med-cat tom with very light brown markings. his feet have light brown, brown and black markings going down them. he has a brown and black muzzle which is barely visible because of his long black hair. he tries to tie his hair up with herbs but he still has enough hair for it to entirely cover his eyes. he also has a black tail. he is the son of driptail.

driptail: a cream coloured tom with white feet and ears. most of his head and back are a greenish-blue colour. farther down his back, near his tail the green-blue gets darker, then turning into just blue near the end of his tail. he has fish-shaped spots all along his back and tail, and a single fish spot on his forehead. he really wants to kill people and probably does way to many drugs. he is the father of hoofsnort

ok. thoughts on dgs now I've completed both 1 and 2. spoilers abound under the cut. but tl;dr I liked it a lot.

man, the thing really did feel like a great adventure huh? the game did an excellent job at conveying that sense of grandeur, along with the humour and melodrama one expects from the series. I can really only talk about it as the one conjoined unit though. while aa1-3 were a trilogy, I would argue they largely stood as entries on their own in a way I don't think the dgs duology can. I mentioned when I finished up dgs1 that I would've been disappointed if I'd had to wait for part 2 like the original japanese audience did, and my opinion on that has only strengthened. between the morse code message, and van zieks'... development, these are two parts of a whole.

but it is a very good whole imo, with its throughline of ryunosuke gaining confidence and finding what to believe in (the truth will set u free babey!). it matches well with the recurrent theme of ur idols being... not quite as u imagined. as is aa tradition, u have the complex web of family and legacy and forging ur own path, all balanced in a way that I really like. man, it's just... so well crafted.

obvs there are a few weird hiccups here and there, logic sometimes not clicking together (at least for me), and for that I do appreciate having the story mode option. I only used it... I think twice? once in the pawnshop case where I forgot I'd only shown one receipt to gregson and not both, and once in the teleportation case where I missed examining the book on sithe's desk (in my defence it has a really small hitbox compared to the desk that surrounds it!). but it saved me some frustration, so that's always nice.

the setting was definitely very enjoyable. I personally have a soft spot for seeing portrayals of my country by those outside the anglosphere, and this absolutely hit the spot for me. the scenery was an excellent balance of the familiar old london fare and ace attorney's brand of surrealism that just. yes. excellent. weirdly high number of blonds tho. but some of the behind the scenes content did explain it was to more clearly differentiate the britons from the japanese, and ok I can understand that.

but moving onto the characters themselves, bc BOY was this a fun cast! the animation team went OFF with these guys and I love them for it. except daley vigil; those awkward poses just kinda made him look more unfinished than he already did, dunno what happened with him.

there's just... so much little stuff I would be just reiterating from my liveblogging, but now I'm done there's other stuff I can sum up.

right off the bat, favourite character gina. she has stolen my heart along with everything else on my person. I'm proud of her for learning to open up and trust others, and imo she's one of the characters with the most dramatic arc. also, top notch character designs. excellently green. yes I am biased.

honorable mentions go to susato for being 100% the coolest person in this shebang, and kazuma for his total flippancy towards the whole assassin thing. for the ten years between asogi sr's death and the student exchange deal, the mikotoba residence must have been a sight to behold. and by that I mean a warzone.

but... argh I've put it off. I don't particularly like talking about van zieks, but I can't just ignore him since you know. discourse. ugh. he's the one character in this game whose dialogue I resorted to flipping through without really paying attention. there is only so many times I can watch him deride the japanese before it's just boring. like it's not like I'm even that annoyed by the insulting thing. I love prosecutors like blackquill and nahyuta who at least bother to be funny, but van zieks is just xenophobic and that's it. if I wanted that experience I could just pick up a copy of the spectator and not worry about missing key plot details if I skim.

and no he doesn't have a good reason to hate the japanese. hating a country bc someone from there killed a loved one of urs is already flimsy enough, but when u state ur ire is being drawn by how it was covered up BY UR OWN COUNTRY'S JUDICIARY? DUDE. but yes, he got to eat shit during the last case and I felt only schadenfreude at him having to face the fact that even the aforementioned 'a japanese guy murdered my brother' didn't hold up in court. get dunked on u idiot.

boy am I glad kazuma also got the limelight for that case so I could focus on him instead. bc there was actually some depth to that situation, with the fun eternal moral conundrum of "revenge: yay or nay?". I'm already seeing debate in the fandom of his actions and personally, I think he was pretty much exactly in the grey zone. this man is chaotic neutral through and through, and taking a governmental assassination contract and then just Not Doing It is incredibly funny actually. Idk why but I just imagined CD!R metal detecting as one of her odd hobbies and finding the most random/coolest shit ever. Like she’s metal detecting by a river and finds an O L D as all hell gun & swaddles it like a baby, cooing to it asking if she murdered any bad guys lately. And ends up taking it home with her

Going off my precious metal detecting theory: CD! R finds a land mine but doesn’t realize what it is but still brings it home (this rly happens irl tho) then proceeds to use it as a dope ass coaster bc she found a few matching ones. Bucky comes over and is like gOD wHaT diD I dO tO DeSErVe tHIS???

Bucky would clean out her room every few weeks just to make sure she’s not stockpiling any weird shit.

He keeps telling her she’s not a fucking Animal Crossing villager and she’s kind of impressed that he remembers what it’s called but why wouldn’t he? She played it for five fucking months and would not shut up about how a raccoon was swindling her and in the middle of those five months he found a million bells under her bed because she was convinced that she could single-handedly make them the new currency.

probably muggle-born but also top of most of his classes

what can he say hes amazed by this shit

really good at theory-based subjects especially

history of magic is his bitch lets be real

sketches in his books and stuff

says he likes sketching with quills the most because theyre more aesthetic

donghyuck says its because hes pretentious

but the whole group pitched in to get him some really nice canvases and paints and other tools

one of his paintings is hanging in the school somewhere, and the little girl in it smiles and greets all the students as they walk past

somehow she always tries to spit on people who had been annoying him recently - and them only

sometimes she spits on Donghyuck for no reason

jeno laughs and says its because she has a crush on him

uses magic for the dumbest things just because he can

he mastered the wingardium leviosa spell within a week because he couldn't be bothered getting up to get things

when he gets close to graduation, hes pretty much practicing simple wandless magic

once freaked out the first years because jaemin charmed a storm cloud to hang around him for an entire day

it flashed lightning when he got particularly annoyed, which was a lot because that cloud was annoying as shit

has a really old owl that literally looks evil but has called it something like “snuggles”

laughs when he unintentionally swoops too low and skims other students’ heads on mail day

buys all his friends gifts during the holidays and comes back with bags filled with fun shit

pretends he never buys gifts for chenle and jisung

always ends up giving them more

cause hes soft like that

but he headlocks them after to show his dominance

has a habit of throwing his cases in the general direction of the dorm when he comes back from holidays and accidentally hitting other students

plays quidditch in his free time

debates strategies with Jeno during their free periods

gets called a traitor by his own captain

couldnt really give a shit about his own team, he prefers to support his friends

wears his school uniform properly and is the only one in the group who does so

one of the wings broke during his first ever game of quidditch and he never got rid of it

he keeps it in the pocket of his robes and fiddles with it when he's anxious about something

has a really good poker face when he's stressed and you'd never know until you hear the soft clicking of his hand playing with it in his pocket while he studies

has a terrible poker face when something confuses him though

during class its so obvious when he doesnt get something

renjun once charmed question marks to hang around his head and everyone in the class died laughing

overall great sense of humour

he brought a cat

and its always getting him into trouble for wandering into the off-limits areas of the castle or into the restricted section of the library

once jaemin joked that the cat was actually an animagus that was purposely trying to get him in trouble

and jeno was spooked for like a week

wouldn't let the cat sleep on his bed and almost had a heart attack when he saw it wandering the halls between classes

but there was nothing wrong with the cat

had a major glow-up between 6th and 7th year and everyone fell in love with him lmao

like everyone knew he was fit from quidditch but they didnt know he was that fit you know
