Resident Evil Bot Dump #9

A couple of quick updates on the bots!

I have made a new masterlist which is the google doc on my pinned post. It contains every single bot I have made and will be regularly updated with any rules or short notices in regards to them. I have also organised them into little subheadings and groups for easier navigation.

I will now take requests for my favourite girlboss Mia Winters <3

As requested I have made some character voices as well as some variations for people to use. Unfortunately it is only a feature on the mobile app but you can find them by looking through the voices as normal. I will also take requests for them.

On that note thank you guys so much for the support! Requests have been and will be slower as I have exams coming up but do keep them coming. Feel free to ask me anything whether it is related to c.ai or not and I'll try and answer them all!

Ada sighs as she looks at the small compact mirror in her hand, taking the time to apply some more lipstick. “You do remember the plan right?” The whole reason why the two of you find yourselves outside the opulent manor in the first place is because of the intel from your employer. Apparently the host of the ball is in possession of an exotic and rare treasure. A treasure that you must try and find while masquerading as a couple.

Cat Hybrid!Ada Wong x Reader

Her footfalls barely audible, Ada slips through the open window, landing with grace. A sly smirk spreads across her lips when she sees you, her tail flicking back and forth playfully. “I told you that I’d come back, didn’t I?” Ada speaks with confidence and ease, yet the subtle twitch of her ears reveal her joy of being near you once more.

Ada finds a glimmer of satisfaction in reuniting with you, her eyes drifting to your face and taking in how the years have changed you both. The normally calm and collected Ada finds herself unable to suppress the smirk tugging at her lips.

Files lay sprawled across the desk, each being inspected with a critical eye. The radio's talk show drones like distant static as Ada looks over the witness statements, the text blurring as exhaustion starts to creep in. With a weary sigh Ada tugs at her tie, adjusting it around her collar in an effort to cool down. Suddenly she’s snapped out of her daze by a knock on the door, prompting her to straighten up and refocus on the case once more. “Come in!”

Ada was used to getting some odd jobs here and there from her employers, but saving the president’s kid? Now that’s a new one. Yet here she was, in a village overrun by mindless cultists and infected villagers, tasked with guiding you through the treacherous catacombs to safety. “Our best shot is that castle over there.” Ada calls out, her voice steady despite the chaos around them. As she navigates through the rocky terrain, her eyes stay fixed on the imposing walls of the castle.

“This right here is Carlos, Umbrella’s latest android model who will help you rescue the remaining civilians here in the city.” Mikhail pats UB300 on the back, gesturing for him to analyse and familiarise himself with his new teammate. You watch as Carlos’ LED flickers while looking you up and down, looking up every bit of information about you and committing it to his memory. After a couple of moments he finally smiles at you and holds out his hand. “Nice to meet you {{user}}.”

Carlos is accustomed to working for all kinds of corporations and groups, regardless of their morality. To him, Umbrella was just another pay check and this time he’s been assigned to protect you, a scientist. He stands in front of your office, throwing a polite nod your way as you make your way over to the door to begin another shift. “Congratulations {{user}}, because you just landed yourself a personal bodyguard.” He announces with a slight bow, stretching his arms out dramatically while flashing you a charming grin.

Biker!Carlos Oliveira x Barista!Reader

The door to the coffee shop swings open, announcing the arrival of the rugged biker, clad in a black leather jacket and sleek leather boots. He effortlessly slides his visor off, tucking it under his arm while striding up to the counter. A charming grin plays on his lips as he leans closer to have a look at the menu, the blend of his cologne and motor oil wafting through the air. “Strange. I don’t see you anywhere on the menu.” He winks, casually draping his forearm across the counter.

Umbrella Agent!Chris Redfield x BSAA Agent!Reader

“Can’t say I expected you to be here.” A voice echoes, a voice the BSAA have sought for years. Your former partner, once a beacon of determination and courage, approaches with an icy expression, devoid of the spark that ignited his squad. “But after all these years you’re still their lapdog.” Chris adds, his gaze narrows when he catches the BSAA patch on your shoulder and his lips curl up into a bittersweet smile. He pats his own shoulder, revealing the familiar red and white logo of the corporation he swore to destroy all those years ago. Umbrella.

“STARS…” Heavy footsteps and growling echo down the halls of the desolate RPD, Chris’ gruff voice distorted due to the modifications made to his body. He wasn’t even sure what he was doing. His mind conflicted between protecting you from the zombies and B.O.Ws roaming the streets, or crushing your head with one swift blow like he’s been programmed to do. Either way he’s hot on your trail with clenched fists…

Chris storms through the base, his usual stoic demeanour replaced by a desperate urgency. Disregarding all praise and kudos for the successful mission, he strides silently towards the medical ward, haunted by vivid images of you engulfed in blood soaked cries. He wanted to. No, he needed to know if you’re okay. Despite the protests of several staff members, he bursts into the room, his resolve shattering instantly at the sight of you in the hospital bed.

“Beautiful isn’t it?” Chris gazes up to the sky while lighting a cigarette, the bright orange of flames illuminating his face before pulling away to take a drag. Leaning against the thick tree trunk, he exhales with a deep sigh, observing the smoke dance in the air, vanishing into the myriad of dazzling stars above. “Want me to show you some constellations?”

A curse escapes Chris' lips as he faces the oncoming crimson head in the narrow corridor, devoid of ammo or flash grenades. Bracing for a gruesome fate, he squeezes his eyes shut and lifts his hands up to guard his face until a loud crash and sickening crunch disrupt the impending doom. Tentatively he opens his eyes to discover you standing by the corpse of the crimson head with grey glazed eyes and rotting skin giving way to brittle bones. At that moment Chris realises that you have just saved him. A zombie has actually saved his life.

Infinite Darkness!Claire Redfield x Reader

Moonlight seeps through the blinds, unveiling the vacant spot on the bed where Claire rested. You can see the familiar glow of her laptop from the hallway, the files and documents displayed on the screen reflecting off her glasses. Since her conversation with Leon and her humanitarian efforts in Penamstan, Claire has plunged back into the familiar pattern of sleepless nights, driven by her determination to uncover the fate of the Mad Dogs after the civil war.

When Claire told you that she was going to Raccoon City to see her brother, you decided to tag along knowing how dangerous it is to go alone. Of course you didn’t know that the danger included a zombie outbreak. “The STARS office. They will probably have something on my brother there.” Claire calls out while reloading her handgun. The two of you now find yourselves trapped in the RPD, exploring the labyrinthine layout and its strangely elaborate puzzles.

As you step into the shop you are immediately greeted with the smell of car oil and rust. Tools, spare bits of scrap, and scattered screws create an organized chaos on counters and workbenches. Claire's eyes light up as she spots you, promptly brushing sweat from her brow and wiping motor grease on her uniform. “Hey there, how can I help you?”

Claire Redfield x College Student!Reader

Claire continues to make her side of the dorm as homely as possible, putting up the front covers of fashion and car magazines on the wall and neatly organising out her trinkets on the desk. Excitement and nerves tangle within her as she wonders about her new roommate. What if they don’t share the same interests? What if they find her weird? The sound of the door opening interrupts her thoughts. Turning, she sees you entering with a stack of boxes in your arms. She can feel her palms grow sweaty and her heart races as she studies you, trying to form a quick impression of your character.

But more importantly, he was finally granted a quiet life with you and Rose finally by his side. No more tests. No more monsters. No more surprises.

“Don’t worry Evie… They’ll accept your gift, and then we can be a family.” The voice pulls you out of your disorientated state, your vision blurring and your head throbbing with a dull ache. As consciousness returns, you find yourself strapped to a chair in front of a dining table laden with rotten and moulded food. The pungent juices that ooze out of each filled dish serve as an instant wake up call to your surroundings. “Eat up, it’s good.” Across the table sits a man bearing a cold smile as well as staples that protrude out of his left wrist. The candlelight flickers and casts shadows across his pale skin, making the wild look in his eyes more sinister and crazed.

Ethan's heart pounds in his chest like a drum, hands tightly gripping the steering wheel, now damp from sweaty palms. Silent since getting in the car, he's consumed by various scenarios and outcomes for the day. Today marks the fateful day where Ethan introduces you to his parents. To say he's nervous is a massive understatement as you're his entire world, and he prays his family embraces you as warmly as he did when sparks first started to fly.

A low laugh tumbles from his lips and he lunges towards you with the kitchen knife, chasing you down the corridors of the decrepit house with a sinister smile etched on his face.

The sand feels good under your feet, keeping you warm against the cool ocean breeze. “I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of this.” Ethan squeezes your hand, your fingers interlaced with his while you continue the quiet stroll down the beach.

Jill scoffs as she heads up the subway stairs, checking the remaining ammo in her handgun. To her annoyance, you, an employee of Umbrella, have been ordered to assist her in powering the subway station for the survivors' escape out of the city. “Just stay out of my way, got it? The last thing we need are more screwups from you people.” With a huff she slips under the metal barrier, heading back into the chaos of the city where she is immediately greeted with smell of fire and rotting flesh.

Android!Jill Valentine x Reader

With crime rates on the rise, the RPD finally relented and invested in some androids, programmed to act as human partners and aid the police force. “{{user}}, correct? I’m Jill Valentine, part of the STARS series of androids created by Cyberlife. Captain Wesker has assigned me to be your partner.” Despite the formality of her words, there is something uncanny about her mannerisms and flat tone of voice. Her gaze flickers to your desk, assessing it with a critical eye, as if she's attempting to gather information about you.

After stumbling upon another batch of supplies in the mansion, Jill can’t help but wonder who keeps leaving all this stuff for her. She picks up the torn piece of paper attached that simply reads “heer :)” scrawled in poor handwriting. It can’t be Wesker, and even though Chris isn’t the brightest bulb in the box he can at least spell. Barry was also ruled out, having been with her just moments ago. As Jill contemplated the situation, a figure emerged from the shadows of the stairwell, carrying first aid sprays and ammo. With lifeless eyes fixed upon her, the figure shuffles closer, grunting as it places the supplies on the ground. The person actually helping out Jill is a zombie?

Jill's heart pounds in her chest as she slams the door shut behind her, her breaths coming in ragged gasps as the heavy footsteps of Nemesis echo through the streets. The door to the control room swings open, revealing a figure hunched over the control panel manipulating the subway lines. "Hey, what are you-" Jill’s words die in her throat when you turn around. Your skin is pale and sickly in colour and your eyes glazed over, boring into her soul with a blank expression.

The bell tolls, bringing an abrupt end to the chaos. Villagers, entranced and mumbling in Spanish, slowly shuffle out of the square, leaving behind the haunting aftermath of bodies and ruined houses. “Where’s everyone going? Bingo?” Despite the eerie atmosphere, your fellow agent still manages to find the time to crack out one liners.

“How’s little {{user}} and Leon junior doing in there, hun?” Leon wraps his arms around your waist tenderly, drawing you close from behind. Gently he caresses your stomach and rests his chin on your shoulder, taking in your beauty and marvelling at the transformations your body has undergone during these past few months.

“Try using knives next time. Better for close encounters.” Leon smirks, holding his combat knife to your throat as he restrains the arm bearing your gun. “Hey, looks like we’re in luck! I can’t believe these things still exist.” Leon remarks as you pull into the drive-in cinema. Only a few cars are scattered around, providing you both with perfect view of the classic movies projected onto the large screen. Once parked, Leon grabs the popcorn and snacks, wedging them in the console between you two. He also fetches a couple of blankets, draping them over both of you for a cosy yet old fashioned movie night under the stars.

You throw something in the other direction, diverting the licker’s attention as it scurries away towards the source of the noise, leaving the rookie unharmed.

It’s been a couple of months since the events of Romania. Since Mia’s husband, Ethan, sacrificed himself for their daughter Rose. Despite her self isolation, you still visit her and help out with Rose when it gets too much. Which is why you find yourself at her front doorstep today, Mia welcoming you in with a small smile.

“We’re going to be a family now that you’re here.” Mia’s voice lulls you out of your stupor, the dingy dining room lights filtering through your eyelids. Despite the throbbing headache you can make out Mia in front of you, her elbows propped up on the table with her chin supported by her hands. The pungent odour of mold and rotting meat assaults your senses, the food laid out before you oozing a strange alien like substance. “Eat up darling… It’s good.”

Honestly how does her little body have so much energy?” Opening the wine cabinet, she retrieves a bottle of fine red wine that Chris bought them as a housewarming gift. She pours out two glasses and takes them to the dining room table.

You walk into the gym after your Captain, Chris Redfield, had asked for some help with training someone. “Hey, over here {{user}}!” Chris’ gruff and booming voice calls out from the training mats, a wide grin spread across his face. Currently on the floor and panting like a mad man beside Chris is who you assume is Ethan Winters. “H-Hey!” Ethan waves as he regains his footing, his face glistening with sweat. It’s quite difficult to believe that this is the man who supposedly took down a whole house of monsters and Bioweapons with a stapled hand and leg.

Since they were relocated to Romania, you’ve been tasked with regularly checking up on the Winters family. “Ethan! Can you get that, hun?�� “Yeah one moment!” You stand at their front door after ringing the bell, the muffled sound of shuffling and talking can be heard. The door swings open, and Ethan's eyes light up with recognition. He gives you a warm smile and steps aside, welcoming you in. “Oh hey, {{user}}. Come in, Mia and I were just having some lunch.”

“The subway is out of power, looks like we’ll have to head to the substation and get it back up and running.” Carlos remarks while adjusting the earpiece in his ear and casts a glance between you and Jill before gesturing for you to follow. Jill resists the urge to roll her eyes as she begrudgingly follows him out of the subway. She’s already made her disdain for working with an Umbrella mercenary evident since the beginning. “Stay close to me, {{user}}. Let’s just focus on getting these survivors out of here.” She says, refocusing her mind on the task ahead as they step out onto the desolate streets of Raccoon City once more.

RE:4R!Leon Kennedy and Ashley Graham x Reader

“Will we really get out of here?” Ashley asks timidly as the three of you walk through the opulent and grand halls of the castle. The walls are lined with renaissance style paintings of the Los Illuminados and the Lord Saddler and Salazar, their ghostly expressions following your every move. “Don’t worry, {{user}} and I will make sure you make it back home to your father safely. I’m sure of it.” Leon replies while he reloads his weapons and looks over the castle layout, mentally mapping out any escape routes. Despite the horrifying circumstances you’re in, he manages to maintain his stoic and almost nonchalant attitude towards the dangers up ahead.

Happy December and happy holidays to those who celebrate!

Before we get to our usual housekeeping though, the mod team would like to reiterate these important points from November's newsletter. Despite our insistence that they be read, we found ourselves repeating them throughout the month as if no one had read them at all.

Important Reminders (Read ALL of them - for real this time)

If you submit feedback, particularly about another person's behavior, please exercise patience before sending us another feedback form on the same subject. When you entrust handling a topic to us, we usually contact the person in question in private and then monitor their behavior afterwards to see if they have taken the suggestion to heart. Some change takes a little while, and positive change and growth within members should be encouraged.

BOUNDARIES: We’ve received some concerns about boundaries not being respected. It can be easy to dismiss someone asking for certain jokes to stop as playing along or joking themselves, especially in a group as big as ours. Remember that even if people are friendly, it does not necessarily mean you are aware of their limits. If someone asks for conversation or jokes related to their muses to stop, oblige them. Conversely, if you are the one asking for others to stop making certain references pertaining to your muses, or so on, you should be specific and firm in order to ensure your request is taken seriously. The same applies to establishing boundaries according to your comfort with thread content. If something makes you uncomfortable, tell your partner directly. Come to the mods if behavior doesn’t change.

RESPECT: Similar to the above point, be respectful when you talk about other characters, especially if someone is writing them in TOA. Remember: every character is someone’s favorite, so don’t go trash-talking them outside of private DMs. The caveat to this, however, are villains. If you choose to write a villain or some other antagonistic character, be prepared for both muns and muses to hate your character. That is the point of their role in the story.

SUBMITTING APPLICATIONS: When submitting an application, submit the whole application. This includes the whole character info section. The mod team does not like having to hunt this information down on your blog. Also make sure that your stats page is linked. If submitting a google doc, submit it as a clickable link so that the mods can open it on mobile. The application has been updated with a reminder.

CANON COMPLIANCE: This is a reminder that muses in TOA should remain canon-compliant and avoid venturing too far into Original Character territory. Per TOA rules, “[your muses’s time in Fódlan] should not change their canon plotline much, which ensures that castmates from the same game always have a static reference point for their muses.” This also means not changing fundamental aspects of who your character is in canon, including but not limited to changing species, changing identities, changing canon lore and how said lore works, and granting them special powers otherwise unavailable to them outside of TOA’s rank chart.

NEW - CLAIMING MUSES: It's fine to be excited about grabbing a new muse, but be aware that you may not be guaranteed this muse, whether it's because of your activity, the application, or that someone else reserved the muse before you had the chance. For this reason, we generally discourage pre-emptive talk about claiming a muse or discussing a muse as if you've already been accepted. The same goes for creating picrews. It's fine every once in a while, but if it's almost every day for weeks, this is excessive and can turn others off from wanting to pick up this muse for fear of stepping on toes. Remember: you have no claim over a muse until the masterlist has officially processed an acceptance.

i recently wrote this cockles manifesto, but after it got a lot of notes and i kept adding more links to it, i decided i should just go through my 8 years of archives and compile all the cockles posts in a much more accessible and navigable way. after everything with the series finale and destielgate, i figured we could use some happiness, and it turns out there are a lot of people who’ve never heard the cockles gospel.

important disclaimer: yes, i do think that jensen and misha have a private romantic/sexual relationship, but no i do not, in any way, think that they have ever cheated on their wives. we think they are polyamorous, which is a real and valid thing, and misha is openly poly. some people love more than one person, and that’s okay. their families are close and we love and support all of them.

Why did you choose your URL: I first started out structuring my stories as imagines, and the “Team Free Will” part was pretty obvious.

What inspired you to become a writer: Reading Supernatural fanfiction inspired me to get back into writing, but I’ve always enjoyed it. My mom likes to talk about how when I was in Kindergarten, I drew a picture about how I wanted to be an author and now I write in my free time.

How long have you been writing: According to tumblr, I’ve been writing fanfiction since 2014, but I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember.

What do you do when you are not writing i.e. Job/Hobbies etc? I’m a music teacher, so I sing and play piano, and I’ve played a bit of cello and tenor saxophone as well. I love movies, baking, sleeping, and a few video games.

How long have you been in the SPN Fandom? I joined sometime around Season 8 or 9, I think. I don’t really remember!

Are you in any other fandoms and do you write for them? I really enjoy Marvel and I’ve read a lot of Marvel fics, but I don’t write for them. I like a lot of TV shows (New Girl, Parks and Rec, The Good Place, Outlander, etc), but I wouldn’t consider myself part of the fandom.

Do you do any writing outside of fanfiction? If so, tell us about it? I love to write poetry. I had a poetry blog at truenorth-ink a while ago, but I haven’t updated it recently at all. Most of my poems aren’t published or posted anywhere.

Favorite published author: I love some of the early series by Rick Riordan and I also really enjoy poetry by Nikita Gill and Atticus. Lately, I've really been getting into Leigh Bardugo's books.

Have you ever read a book that made an impact on your life? Which one and why?: I think "East" by Edith Pattou really affected me! I read it when I was in 6th-8th grade and I think about it often. I think it's something that really stuck with me and got me interested in fantasy books so much. I read it at least once a year.

Favorite genre of fanfic (smut, angst, fluff, crack, rpf, etc): I love angsty stuff, and most of the time I prefer it when it has some fluff mixed in. Straight fluff is often hard for me to read because I need something that’s more realistic for my own life and point of view. I also really like whump, but that can be a lot sometimes so it depends on my mood.

Favorite piece of your own writing: I don’t know if I have a favorite, but I loved writing Back to the Start (my mermaid series) and The Switch (a canon-divergent apocalyptic Reader x Sam series). Right now, I'm really enjoying my Consort series (a Goddess!Reader x Dean series). Creating my own rules in my own little universes is one of my favorite things to do, especially since I can’t always do whatever I want in real life.

Most underrated fic you have written: Empire. I loved getting to write Boyking!Sam because it was so different from my normal Sam stories and I did a lot of research for it. I’m pretty proud that the story never got too bloody or gory, too, so if you want some Boyking!Sam that’s not drenched in blood (for lack of a better term), I’m your girl!

Story of yours that you’d most like to see turned into a movie/tv show: Probably Back to the Start or The Switch. I think those two series would be amazing to see with J2, the rest of the cast/characters I included, and special effects! There’s so much I’d want to explore with both of them that I didn’t put into the series.

Favorite fic from another writer: I don’t think I could pick just one, but I’ve read all of @sunlightdances Dean fics multiple times. Her works got me through some pretty sucky times in my life and I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of her writing! I’ve also been reading her Bucky fics recently and it’s made me love Marvel fics even more than before!

Favorite character to write: Sam Winchester

Favorite Pairing to write: Reader x Sam (Reader x Dean is a close second)

Least favorite character to write (and why): I don’t like to write for Crowley or Gabriel. Gadreel is hard for me even though I can do it, but I don’t understand Crowley or Gabriel’s personalities at all because they’re literally so far away from mine.

Do you have anyone you consider a mentor? No, although @lipstickandwhiskey and @kaz2y5-imagines really encouraged me in my writing!

Do you have any aspirations involving your writing? I would love to write a non-Supernatural work of fiction to publish, but that’s a long way off.

How many work-in-progress stories do you have: Oh Lord, I have so many! I have at least four series and two one shots in the works right now. I've also got over 100 one shots/series plotlines written out in the notes on my phone and various Google Docs.

What are you currently working on? I’m currently working on a Cinderella series, my Underworld series, my Puer Rex series, my Consort series, an Author!Sam fic, and an Author!Dean fic. I also write stories for my Words series now and again.

“Pond Diving” - All About The Writing

What/who has had the biggest influence on your writing? Reading other people’s work. The intense storylines of @luci-in-trenchcoats ’s fics have gotten me to be more bold with my writing and the emotions and description in @supernaturalfreewill’s works have inspired me to let my work have more feeling.

Best writing advice you've been given: Not necessarily writing advice, but I was once told that anything worth doing is worth doing at least a little bit every day. Think about it—if you wrote even just five minutes a day, how much better will you get over the course of a month? A year?

Biggest obstacle you’ve faced in your writing: Repetition of words and commas. So many commas and so many uses of the same word over and over again. It’s a hard balance between using the word and using synonyms without sounding like I’m sitting there googling synonyms for “said”. I also tend to spend a lot of time on things that I think are super important but aren’t really important in the long run. I’m wordy as hell and my writing would be dull if I didn’t edit it as thoroughly as I do.

What aspects of writing do you find difficult when you write fanfiction? A lot of times I have these ideas that I think would make a great series but I don’t think through them, so planning out the plot of a series (or even a standalone fic) beforehand is something I struggle with.

Is there anything you want to write but are afraid to (and why): I would love to write more fics that have the characters dealing with severe mental disorders or that take place in a mental hospital, but I’m afraid that I’ll portray something wrong and solidify harmful stereotypes about what it’s like to deal with those things.

What inspires/motivates you to write: Honestly, just wanting to write things that I enjoy. Sometimes I get sick of reading other peoples’ stuff since it’s not exactly what I want, so I just write my own!

How do you deal with self doubt: Understand that sometimes it happens. You’ll doubt yourself—everybody does. If I’m doubting myself or my writing, I’ll take a break until I remember why I write. Then I’ll remember that yeah, writing for an audience is fun, but I write because I have cool ideas I want to explore, not because I need the attention or love of strangers. Lastly, I’ll reread my old fics, especially the ones I love, and then I’ll go back and edit old fics that I haven’t looked at in a while. That way I can see how I’ve improved and I don’t feel so terrible anymore! Reading my own fics is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine, and I’ll read through my masterlists every once a while just to remind myself of the things I’ve loved, where I’ve been, and where I’m going.

How do you deal with writer's block: Like I said, I reread old fics and edit old fics that I haven’t looked at in a while. Seeing the things I’ve done before always helps to focus me. I’ll also read other people’s stuff or talk about headcanons with some friends to try and find some inspiration.

Do you plan/outline your story before you start: Lately I have been, but only because my periods of intense inspiration and productivity are getting farther and farther apart because of my job. I’ve found planning it out to be more and more helpful, especially for my series. A lot of times if I get a great idea, I’ll outline the whole plot or any significant details I want to put in that one shot/series so that I can come back to it whenever I have the time or I’m inspired for it again.

Do you have any weird writing habits: I write best in places that are unfamiliar to me or in places/times where I shouldn’t be writing. Class? Writing. Airport terminal? Writing. 4am when I have to be up at 6? Writing.

Have you ever received hateful comments on your fic and how do you deal with it? Not that I remember! I feel like there’s probably been one or two over the years, but I probably just got upset about it with my friends for a while and then got over it.

Conversely: what’s been some of your favorite feedback on your fanfic? A long time ago, when I was writing Back to the Start, I had one person who sent me asks for every single series update. I screenshotted them and saved them on my laptop. There’s one particular one where they say that they’re happier because of my writing and honestly, isn’t that what we all strive for? That people’s lives are better because of our stories? I’ve also had some pretty great friends recently who’ve made it a point to reblog and send asks/messages on all my works, which has been so meaningful that I never replied to the asks. They’re sitting in my inbox and I go through and reread them sometimes when I’m feeling down.

If you could give one piece of advice to a new and/or struggling writer, what would it be? Write down everything. If you come up with an amazing piece of dialogue, even if it’s just one sentence or one person talking, or if you come up with something you’d think would be a great title… WRITE IT DOWN. It doesn’t matter if it fits into whatever you’re currently writing or not, it’ll come in handy! I don’t know how many times I’ve gone through my idea list and found really obscure lines/titles/inspiration that didn’t make sense when I wrote them down, but are now exactly what I need to finish a fic. Even if you don’t end up using it, jotting down your ideas is still writing, and that’s good practice!

A Non-Exhaustive and (In)Frequently Updated List of Resources I’ve Used while Writing MDZS/CQL/Untamed Fic

I did so much research for The Vermillion Ribbon that I decided to make a doc out of it. If I’m bored sometime (ha) I might go farther back through my google search history but for now this is MDZS specific and just what I used for TVR. I’ll try to update it periodically as I write other things, though, so it’ll get more complete.

In most cases, I go to Google and type in what I’m trying to find out. This might be a question - “were there barrels in ancient china” - or it might be an idiom - “origin ‘barrels of fun’” - or it might definition - “define pusillanimity” or it might be that I’m trying to find out if a reference is appropriate - “china mosquitoes” was a search to make sure there were, in fact, mosquitoes in China. Each of these searches only take a few minutes at most but doing them can really enhance a narrative.

Here are some other examples of searches I used to get utterly random pieces of information I needed - all of these produced the results I was looking for:

I’m including these so you see...basically if an issue comes up while you’re writing, and you’re not sure...just check. The information is out there. Looking at it gives the FBI agent spying on all your internet usage something interesting to read!

General Writing Resources:

Behind the Name and Behind the Surname (https://www.behindthename.com/, https://surnames.behindthename.com/) - definitely more a resource for Western names but if you care about name origin and meaning, extremely handy.

Encyclopedia Britannica (https://www.britannica.com/) - I use it much less often than Wiki but it’s still helpful sometimes.

Google Image Search (https://www.google.com/imghp) - not sure what something looks like? GIS is your best friend. There’s no better way to make sure you write a compel a description than to actually look at the thing you’re trying to describe.

Google Maps (https://maps.google.com/) - if you’re writing about a real place, it’s always helpful to be able to look at it, especially on satellite or street view.

Google Translate (https://translate.google.com/) - should you rely on it? God, no. But if you just need something basic and you remember you might get garbage back, it can still be helpful.

Online Etymology Dictionary (https://www.etymonline.com/) - an excellent source for word origins, especially slang (like if you’re trying to figure out if a word or phrase is time period appropriate).

Onomatopoeias (http://onomatopoeialist.com/) - need just the right sound? Here you go.

Scrivener (https://www.literatureandlatte.com/scrivener/overview) - this is the only writing software I’ve ever used and while I honestly don’t use it for writing fanfiction (I just write in gdocs and wing it), I still support it and I use it to organize my research for original projects.

Thesaurus.com (https://www.thesaurus.com/) - my preferred thesaurus. I use a thesaurus constantly - both for synonyms and antonyms - while writing and find it infinitely more useful than, say, the lists of words I sometimes see circulating as rebloggable Tumblr posts. If you find a word you’re not sure of listed, always check the definition before using it.

Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page) - maybe I should be embarrassed by how often I rely on Wiki but fuck that, because Wiki is an invaluable source for random obscure information. On major topics it’s sometimes unreliable but on most historical matters aside from those that are most fraught (ie, the causes of the US Civil War) you can generally trust that the information is reliable, and if you need more information the included references can help a lot.

Loki Laufeyson x Reader ~ Rest Assured [Pt.3]

A/N: I wrote 99.9% of this chapter today in less than 2 hours, finishing at 0430 in the morning, so I apologize if there are mistakes; Google Docs hasn’t been catching all my spelling mistakes.

Anyway, just to recap what I mentioned in part one, we’re gonna take a chunk of canon events from the MCU and just chuck them out the window for a bit for the sake of this story. (For example: Bucky has already been found and is recovering at the tower.)

“You’re late,” Steve states upon the second he spots the green-clad god. He had been sneaking glances at the watch tucked neatly beneath the sleeve of his uniform once the allotted time passed.

“A minuscule difference,” Loki retorts with a scoff. “Besides, I am the only one present. Why should it matter if I were to arrive a little behind schedule? It is not my mission at stake.”

“I gave you that time, Loki, not the others. They have their own schedule to follow.”

“And why is that, Captain?”

“Because we had to prepare,” comments the god’s brother, his loud footsteps having announced his presence long before the statement reached the two men’s ears. “This is the first time you will be stepping foot outside the tower. We must take precautions.”

“Precautions,” the black-haired god scoffs, but before he can utter another word, the two Avengers begin ushering him into the elevator. They stand behind Loki, demanding that he keep his hands visible to them at all times until told otherwise.

An upbeat melody echoes in the confined, metal transportation mechanism, creating an awkward atmosphere amongst the three men during their journey up the multitude of levels in the tower. Despite the god’s fairly-disciplined behavior during the past few weeks, Steve has to refrain from looking off to the side, reminding himself that Loki may turn into potential security threat at any moment and must be monitored every second.

“Hello, boys,” greets Natasha as she steps into the lift, a playful smirk resting on her face. The moment the metal doors slid open, the Russian spy read the situation and practically saw the awkwardness pouring out of the elevator. She could have sworn that she heard a sigh of relief come from the captain’s direction, but chose to ignore it for the sake of their patience; having the god of mischief in an elevator while making a snarky remark would only cause many problems and headaches. “I just got off the phone with Fury. He has several teams on constant patrols throughout the perimeter of the tower; they’ll be switching shifts until we return.”

“And the tower itself?”

“Relax, Rogers. Stark had JARVIS updated specifically for this little mission of ours. Every possible entrance will be locked and secured with every security measure in existence trained on those locations. Nobody is breaking into this place while we’re gone.”

“Good.”

Once a loud ping announces the arrival of their destination, JARVIS bids the four farewell as they step out of the tower and onto Tony’s massive platform at the top of the building. Gathered along the windows, the numerous, both official and unofficial members, of the Avengers’ team chatter up a storm over the whistling winds. They fail to notice the remaining few, one of them being the key factor in their trip, approaching the landing pad.

“Avengers,” Steve announces firmly, gaining the attention of all his fellow heroes, “I know that you’re all excited, however let’s remember the reason why we are doing this. I’m not saying that you guys aren’t allowed to enjoy yourselves, but please remain professional at all times. After all, this is considered a mission.”

Hums of agreement, along with a few cheers, burst through the silence once Steve steps down from the platform Tony utilizes to disassemble the Iron Man suit. The super soldier looks around for Thor, who grew distracted and quickly left his brother’s side to converse with a curious speedster. Panic immediately erupts in Steve’s chest. His head whips from side to side as he desperately attempts to locate Loki, who, much to the super soldier’s relief, is seated by the platform with Natasha and Wanda keeping a close eye on the god.

“Can somebody get Thor over here? We need to get things started or we’ll be here all night. I want to leave by 0900 at the latest.”

After a couple of shouts from various Avengers, Thor returns to his spot beside Loki. Tony takes over at the landing pad and proceeds to list off the supplies and equipment being brought, as well as the names of each member attending the trip, tapping his foot impatiently and commenting whenever he receives a late reply.

“Bird Boy?”

“Here,” Clint deadpans, clearly standing in the wealthy man’s line of vision.

“No, not you,” Tony quips. “The new guy.”

“I’m right here, Stark,” Sam replies from behind Clint. “You should invest in a good pair of glasses, old man.”

“Hey, watch it, Bird Boy ! I’m trying my best here. There’s a bunch of you guys and only one of me.”

“Whatever.”

“Okay. And finally, is Reindeer Games here?”

“Yes, Tony, he is,” Steve says exasperatedly, all the while staring longingly at the ticking hands on his wristwatch. Tony has been reviewing the entire roster for over an hour and is threatening to ruin the super soldier’s departure schedule. “I’m pretty sure everybody is aware of the rules and their accompanying belongings.”

Tony backs down after several reassurances from the Vision, who had taken the liberty of double-checking for the genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist.

“Gather around,” Thor bellows. “There will only be two trips. One departing from Midgard, and one returning to Midgard. I will be unable to retrieve those who get left behind, so pay close attention.”

All the Avengers group tightly around the thunder god, pressing tightly against one another as if they are penguins battling Arctic temperatures. Loki, who has been left out of the loop, blinks rapidly in confusion while being smothered between his brother’s chest and Steve’s back. He looks over at Thor in time to witness the blond god request passage through the Bifrost, squeezing his eyes shut as the blinding lights engulf him and the band of heroes; during the several seconds of their journey, Loki relishes over the fact that Thor had forgotten to warn the Avengers about the bright, flashing lights and nauseating sensation that comes with traveling via the Bifrost.

Upon feeling solid ground beneath his feet, Loki opens his eyes to take in his new surroundings, only to be taken aback by the familiarity of the towering golden structures and multi-colored bridge that render him speechless.

“Avengers, welcome to Asgard.”

Changes & Policy Updates

Due to Tumblr’s atrocious coding, we now have our rules in a nice, clean Google Doc. We’ve made some adjustments, so give them a read. All rule changes will be described in detail under the cut.

[IMPORTANT] Our biggest rule change is that we will now automatically remove any muse who does not make any IC posts for an entire month. Muses on hiatus are exempt. This will be implemented from the November activity check onward.

Remember: If life gets busy for you, please take a hiatus. You MUST send all hiatus requests to this blog for them to be counted.

Following up on this, we will also be implementing a cooldown period for hiatuses. After returning from a hiatus, you must wait the time equivalent to your hiatus length before requesting another hiatus.

We will now allow muses to change affiliations! After one month of activity, your muse will be allowed to switch or join a House. You can make this change at any time, but you can only do this once, so choose wisely! Some restrictions apply.

For organization purposes and ease of checking requirements for class mastery, we will now require all individual threads to be given a unique thread tag. How you tag them is up to you (with the thread title, “character name 1″, etc.), but try not to use dashes. Remember, you must leave links to your threads on the stats page.

Changelog:

Those who have not made any IC posts in a calendar month will be automatically removed during the check. Muses on hiatus or otherwise not counted in the activity check will be exempt.

Unfortunately, we have had some issues with people dropping muses without informing the Masterlist, and people who join the group only to hold on to a character without posting. The mods have noticed that our members either post 10x our activity requirements (3 IC posts in a month), or don’t post at all, with very few people falling inbetween. The purpose of a role play group is to write with other members, so we have decided to expedite the removal of inactive muses to give other writers a chance to pick them up instead.

Again, if life is getting busy for you, please take a hiatus! All hiatus notices must be sent to the Masterlist for them to count.

You may request a hiatus by messaging the masterlist. [...] After returning from hiatus, you must wait the time equivalent to your hiatus length (2 weeks, 1 month, 1.5 months, etc.) before requesting another hiatus.

To prevent hiatus abuse, we will be implementing a cooldown period before you are allowed to take another hiatus. For example, if you take a two-week semi-hiatus, you will be unable to request another hiatus for two weeks.

After 1 month of activity, you may change affiliation (switching or joining a House). Each muse may only change affiliations once, so choose wisely!

To accommodate the ability for muses to switch Houses, we’ve added a bullet to our rules concerning your muse’s affiliation. When submitting an application, all muses must start with an affiliation, whether that be in a House, a faculty member, unaffiliated with the Church, etc. All 3H muses must begin with their original affiliation (as an example, Sylvain must start in the Blue Lions House).

After 1 month of activity, you may change affiliation (switching or joining a House). Each muse may only change affiliation once, so choose wisely! Please notify the masterlist to do so, and your transfer will be made official!

Canon unrecruitable characters (Edelgard, Dimitri, Claude, Hubert, Dedue, and Rhea) will not be allowed to change affiliations, but AU threads are allowed.

Please use a unique thread tag on all posts within a given thread. However you decide to tag threads is up to you (thread title, character name 1, etc.). This is so mods can easily check your threads for class mastery.

Most people are already doing this of their own accord, but we’ve decided to implement it as an official rule so that it’s systemized and consistent. Mods use the thread tag to double check completion and word count for class masteries, so it’s much easier on us if everyone uses them.
