“It Takes a Village”
We have all heard it… shoot, I think I even said it last week, but is ‘it takes a village’ just a phrase or is it really truth? Honestly, this phrase never even crossed my mind until my son was born and all the villagers came out of hiding with the good, the bad and the ugly advice; but this didn’t really bother me until I got some parenting experience under my belt. My son is 9 months old so obviously I am now an expert… even so; I was now ready to bestow my “parenting wisdom” on other moms. As soon as another mom mentioned any struggle she was having with her kids, I wanted to jump in to save the day with my expert advice on the matter… queue the other mom holding back on rolling her eyes as I ask the question all moms know too well “have you tried this?” like she hadn’t googled every possible solution to the problem she was dealing with. Was I really going to be that villager, the one with the pitchfork of advice at the ready any time I talked to another mom? Is a village necessary to survive parenthood? If so, what is truly needed?
Getting to the truth
I decided it was time to actually get other mommy perspectives on the subject of  ‘it takes a village’.  So, I gave a shout out to the Facebook world with 4 questions, two for and two against parenting advice to see if the “village” was more helpful or harmful.
Once you become a mom, something that is needed is thick skin, so that when you do end up receiving unwarranted advice, you can take it with a grain of salt. My friend Jamey W. said it best “I have heard/felt things that while harsh at the time, as I reflected (and minimized my pride) realized they were probably right or at least something there that should be considered.” This is a mom with a teenager and a college student; her answer is why I need to have mentors in my village to explain, “Pride causes us to miss a lot of truth.” Yes, getting offended is a cultural phenomenon, but instead of pouting, I can take what has been said and use it to grow and become a better, more developed person. I learned pride gets in the way of even allowing myself to be surrounded by a village. One obvious way I realized I needed growth in was learning that my son could benefit from being around others.
At first, I was very hesitant to allow other people be around my son, I mean, I made him… I can be selfish, right? But once I got past that, I found how beneficial it was to have others interact with my child. They would play with him in ways that never would have crossed my mind, and truly showed me new ways to love my son.  “It is incredibly valuable to be in community with other people who pour into and love your child– they speak into their lives in a multitude of ways, and it’s powerful and humbling and so much better than doing it on your own. Other people can speak into their gifts, challenges, and behavior in a way that you can’t, and they see the things you have blind spots to.” –Annie M. This is why it is so important to have peers be in my village. Your peers can help you to be more creative with teaching and during play time as Jenna S. saw this as “a refreshing reminder to not let your child play her way right through her days without me, I just don’t want to miss It.” This has also opened my eyes to the fact that controlling every aspect of my life is just not attainable; I need help and support.
Being a very controlling person, I really wanted to do everything on my own and then… well, exhaustion set in. The other night I broke down (my son has started waking up at 2:00am hyper and not going back to sleep until 3:30am), my husband offered to pray with me as I was rocking our son to sleep and I said, “no, I just want to get Ru to sleep.” It took me about 5 minutes to realize what I needed was my husband to pray over me and once I gave up that control, it was like a gospel choir came rising up singing “Hallelujah”! A wise friend stated, “Praying that the Lord would guide you in each situation and lead you on how to love, affirm, teach, correct, and discipline in a way that is honoring to him. Praying isn’t hard to do, but always feeling prepared and equipped can be hard when it comes to parenting.” This makes me realize that protectors are needed in my village. God allows us to lean on him and others just as a friend who is a fellow new mom has grown to “learn now more than ever to trust in God’s plan and have faith that no matter what, He knows what is best and He is leading our lives.” After recognizing all that was needed for my village to be a great support system, there was something gnawing at the back of mind, something that was missing.
Out of all the moms I had asked these questions to, one specifically made me realize something most moms are afraid to say “I am one amazing woman and mom.” –Jen H. She is a single mom who has had to learn how to be strong for her and her kids. “But our God is good. And he put me through some tough times that led me to now. And who am I now? A fully functional adult who can clean and not lose her cool; I make doctors appointments and make sure the kids get their fruits and veggies.” This is when I realized confidence is needed in myself for the village. I am my toughest critique when it comes to my skills as a mother but why can’t I admit that some days I am doing a great job or some things I do rock at as a mother. I feel confidence could be such a great tool for us to spur on to be even better, to never stop trying to achieve the goal of loving our children fiercely.
The Do’s and Don’ts
Here are some of the BEST advice moms have benefited from hearing:
“You’re going to make mistakes, they grow up despite us, and they grow up fast so enjoy every moment.” –Jennie H.
“It is the ride of your life! Have fun! Find what works for you and do that.” –SueEllen H.
“Sleep when the baby sleeps” –Candace T., Chrissy S.
“Never let the kids leave the house without saying you love them.  And always say encouraging words to your children.” –Ann M.
“Each difficult stage is temporary and you will miss It.” –Calli K.
“Do what you feel is best for you and your child and not to worry about what others think.” –Amanda B.
Things to keep in mind NOT to do:
“Saying things like ‘they are going to see it eventually.’  It doesn’t mean they need to see it now!” –Candace T.
“My sister-in-law never had kids and she always told me how to raise them, she would punish them in front of me when they would do something that was no big deal to me.” –Ann M.
“I felt pressured by others to use formula, feed her puréed and solid food, to sleep train when I wasn’t quite ready yet.” –Calli K.
“I have had a lot of people tell me that my daughter is big for her age and maybe I should watch what I feed her.” –Amanda B.
“As I was struggling to get my firstborn to latch I decided to pump and bottle feed her until our latch was successful. My MIL told me bottle-feeding wouldn’t create as strong of a bond as breastfeeding would. My bond with both my children is unbreakable and bottle shaming is as ridiculous and insensitive as breast shaming. Fed is best!” –Anonymous
“People trying to fix problems I’ve been working on forever like my child’s diet or showing distaste for the freedoms I allow.” –Jenna S.
So, is ‘it takes a village’ just a phrase or is it truth?
The truth is, it takes the right village… so choose wisely.

You Don’t Know Me | 3
Summary: Yoongi gets you pregnant and chickens out
Tumblr media
Word Count: 2077
Pairing: Yoongi + Reader
Genre: Angst
Warnings: swearing, strong opinions on abortion
Part 1 | Part 2
“(Y/N) please-”, Yoongi rushed to your side as he saw the tears rolling down your cheeks but you stepped back, holding your free hand in front of yourself. You didn’t want to feel his touch. It always made you weak, weak for him, weak for his excuses, but you needed to stay sane in that moment. You needed him to realize how bad he screwed up. He needed to see how mad and hurt you were. If he touched you, all those feelings would vanish in a matter of seconds.
“Don’t touch me Yoongi”, you choked out and he stood still. His eyes that usually didn’t hold much emotions, were full of brokenness, regret and a hint of something you couldn’t quite make out. His shoulders had sunken forward while his hands were in his pockets.
“Why now? Why, out of all days, you picked today to talk to me?”, you sniffed and wiped over your face with the back of your hand. Today had been a rather good day for you but now you were a mess like any other day before. Just with the slight difference that today you were a mess because Yoongi was talking to you. The other days you were a mess because he didn’t talk to you.
“I-I don’t know”, he stammered, scratching the back of his neck. “I didn’t know you were here but as soon as I saw you, I couldn’t hold myself back any longer. The last month has been horrible. I felt as if I was going through hell every single time I heard your ringtone or saw your messages. Every time I heard you in our living room or saw you leave the dorms. I wanted to hold you, tell you everything will be okay. I wanted to be the one to bring you food over and take you to your appointments. I wanted to hold you in my arms until you fell asleep like we used to. Feel your heartbeat against my body and having your smell linger in my studio. I wanted to tell you cheesy lines that reminded me of you just to hear your beautiful laugh”, he had stepped closer as his index finger gently caressed the side of your face, his eyes moving over yours.
Loneliness.
The thing in his eyes, you couldn’t make out at first - it was loneliness.
“Then why did you ignore me? Why did you hurt me like that when you felt that way?”, you stared at him, pleading for an explanation. “Why did you leave me?”
Yoongi closed his eyes and swallowed hard, before shaking his head. “Because I was scared. You know how hard I work to make our dreams come true and with a baby all this hard work would have been for nothing.”
You furrowed your eyebrows. “Having a baby doesn’t mean that everything is ruined Yoongi. Yes, you have more responsibility but it doesn’t ruin your career. You’re very talented and everybody knows that.”
He let his hand fall down and bit down on his lip. “No, you don’t get it (Y/N). I’d have to make more time for you and the baby because obviously I can’t let you raise it alone. I wouldn’t be able to tour because I have you and the baby at home - touring would mean leaving you behind like a single mother for several months. That’s horrible. A baby would mean getting less sleep than I already do, bringing me closer to a burn-out than I already am, which I cannot afford. There are just so many negative points in this (Y/N), talent alone doesn’t make them go away.”
Confusion was written all over your face as Yoongi’s words sunk in. Realization hit you, making your jaw drop.
“Hold on - what exactly do you want Yoongi?”, you glared at him skeptically, hoping that your thoughts were wrong, silently praying to God that you were simply being overly paranoid.
He gently grabbed your hands, letting his fingers play with yours as his eyes softened. “I want you. I want you to take me back and be my girlfriend again (Y/N), please. I love you.”
These were the words you had waited for, for so long. Dreamed of every night since he left and cried over to exhaustion. But now that Yoongi had said them, an uncertain feeling spread throughout your chest area, making sickness approach you.
“But you just said that you didn’t want a baby, Yoongi”, you raised one eyebrow at him as he giggled at your words.
You didn’t understand what was so funny.
“Yeah, I don’t want a baby. I want you.”
Silence. The only noise you registered was a floor creaking somewhere in the dorm and your thoughts telling you to run.
You were right.
Your heart beating increased and sweat formed on your palms. An enormous feeling of having to protect the little human inside of you, made your body shake.
“You’re expecting me to get an abortion?”, you asked hesitantly, afraid to hear the answer. He couldn’t be this heartless. He just couldn’t. Not the Yoongi that you knew and loved. He wouldn’t do that.
“Exactly”, he answered shortly, giving your hands a tight squeeze and smiling warmly at you. “It’s not like the baby is an actual human yet, we’re not killing anybody. We’re just doing the right thing.”
Never in all those years of knowing Yoongi, you would have thought that he’d be capable of suggesting something like that. You couldn’t even picture him thinking about such a cruelty.
He wanted to kill your baby.
He wanted to get rid of it to be able to keep on dating you secretly again and not lose his job. He didn’t care about the baby, nor you. It was all about his job, his career, his image.
“You can’t be serious right now, Yoongi”, you slowly withdrew your hands from his touch, placing them on your tummy and slightly stepped back.
His eyebrows raised in confusion. “Of course I am (Y/N). That’s the best solution for all of us.”
Crazily, you started shaking your head, disbelief numbing your body. “This is the best solution for you! What about the baby? You’re just gonna kill it off because it’s an inconvenience to you? What if I’m an inconvenience at some point, huh? Are you gonna kill me then, too?”
At this point, you were screaming at him, forgetting about all the pain you had gone through because of him. All you could think of was he wants my baby dead, repeating in your head like a deadly mantra.
“What? No, of course not. Are you crazy? That’s different! This baby isn’t even born yet”, he screamed back, trying to come closer to you but you pushed him away with one hand while the other one was still holding onto your tiny tummy. Jungkook was right, you weren’t fat but you did have a little noticeable tummy by now and you were going to protect it, no matter what. Or who.
“How is this different Min Yoongi? This baby is a living creature just like you and me. It might not be fully developed yet but it’s still a little person. It’s still a little person that we”, you signaled in between the two of you, “created. It has our DNA, our blood, our everything. It is growing inside of me and God have mercy, I will do anything and everything to protect this little creature from anything and anyone.”
Your fists were balled and your body was shaking angrily. Yoongi’s expression turned from confused to attentive.
“Babe listen, that’s just your motherly instincts. It’s nothing-”, Yoongi tried to explain but you held up a hand, not believing what you were about to say.
“Yoongi, if you don’t want this baby then fine. I’ll leave you alone. You don’t have to raise this baby with me. But I’m not going to abort it. Never. I might be a broke college student with a shitty part-time job that really does not pay me enough but I’ll get through it. I have the boys and Jin who are supporting me so much, unlike you. Especially Jin. So you don’t have to worry, he’ll take care of me and the baby and help me whenever I need help”, you tried to look at him with a straight face but you were never that good in hiding your emotions. He could read you like an open book and he knew that it hurt you to say those words to him.
“So what, Jin is going to replace me and raise that baby instead? Jin, who is secretly in love with you and has been for years is going to be its dad while me - the actual father - will be “Uncle Yoongi” is this how it’s going to be? Wow what a great choice (Y/N), really. You have to be kidding me”, he clenched his teeth and tilted his head in annoyance. “I won’t let him take you away from me. We’ve been through too much (Y/N). I love you and want to be with you! Why can’t you see that? Why isn’t that enough?”
You stopped in your tracks. What did Yoongi just say?
“What did you say?”
“Why isn’t my love enough-”, he started but you shook your head.
“No, the other thing about Jin. He’s what?”, there’s no way you had heard right. He was just a friend, nothing more.
Yoongi rolled his eyes and bit onto his lower lip, moving from one foot to another. He was anxious and you could tell. “He has been in love with you since I introduced you to the boys. He confessed it to me maybe a year after we started dating. It was so obvious, I thought you’d be able to tell.”
Again, you shook your head. This time more slowly.
That’s why he always went the extra mile to make sure you were doing fine.
It all makes sense now.
Slowly, you took a deep breath and exhaled in order to calm yourself. You couldn’t afford to make any irrational decision right now.
Looking up at Yoongi, you noticed his sunken figure and your heart shattered into even tinier pieces than it had been before. “Jin will not be their dad and you won’t be the uncle. You’re the father Yoongi and nothing’s going to change that. I will raise this kid because I always hoped for a future with you, a future where we’d be happily married with our own family and I love you so much Min Yoongi, I do. You’re the love of my life and even if I have to raise our baby alone, he or she should know that at least their mom believed in love”, you cleared your throat before continuing. “Also, Jin won’t take me away from you because”, another deep inhale, “I don’t belong to you and we’re not together anymore. You left me and you don’t want this baby. So, no Yoongi, your love is not enough for me. If you loved me like you say you do, we’d be making up already and talking about our future with the baby. Not discussing your wish for its abortion and fathomless jealousy of Jin.”
“Babe, I-”, his face fell and tears welled up in his eyes.
You turned your back to him and walked towards the front door, unable to take in his broken state anymore because in your opinion, he wasn’t allowed to feel that way. You were the broken one. Not him. He didn’t have any right to be this upset and helpless.
“No Yoongi, that’s it. You don’t want the baby, okay. I get it. I should have understood that earlier and not bother you with all my calls and texts and randomly show up at your house, imagining that I knew you well enough to think you were only being stubborn”, you clumsily put on your shoes while Yoongi simply stood behind you, looking like a lost boy.
“Please don’t go”, he whispered under tears, voice cracking, making you look up. It broke your heart and new tears rolled down your cheeks as well, as you saw his heartache displayed on his face. Gently, you wiped some tears off his cheeks.
“I have to”, you replied, turning around before he could do or say anything, closing the door behind you.

Coincidence Pt. 2 (Jimin x Reader)
Tumblr media
Admin: Mimi
Prompt/Ask: coincidence was so good jshdj i was wondering if you'll make a chapter 2
So, the guy you slept with is your new lecturer? Ok. This shouldn’t be awkward. At all. Nope.
Fandom: BTS
Genre: Fluff, Smut, Angst
Pairing: Jimin x Reader
Warnings: language, smut
Word Count: 7814 (WHOOPS)
Authors Note: HO BOI IT’S FINALLY DONE. I am so so sorry for the wait, and that I haven’t been putting out fics as fast as I used to, but I’ve spent ages on this one and I am drained lmao. And what makes this even more special, ‘Coincidence Pt. 1’ surpassed 500 notes! I’m so happy that many of you enjoyed my story and thankful to everyone who read it! So without further ado, here is the (long ass) sequel for Coincidence. As always, let me know if there are errors, and happy reading!
 - PART 1 -
 - PART 3 -
 - BONUS -
-
It felt as if this hour long lecture would never fucking end.
That’s all it was. One hour. But it felt as if time suddenly slowed, moving at an agonising snail’s pace, and it slowed because of one individual in the class who entered with a smile that morphed into a devilish smirk as soon as he made eye contact with you.
Jimin – or Mr. Park, as he were to be called now, was now your new literature professor until Ms’ Abbot returned from her maternity leave, which most likely will be until next year, seeing as she left just at the start of the second half of the year.
In other circumstances, this wouldn’t have affected you. He was just a lecturer, doing his job. You were a student, studying to get a career. The usual.
The fact that you slept with said lecturer the night before was an interesting addition to the situation, certainly. Jimin didn’t help this fact back glancing at you occasionally with narrowed eyes and the corner of his lip turned up ever so slightly, ever so cockily. And you hated how each miniscule peek would not fail to let those annoying butterflies in your tummy go wild, would not fail at causing heat to rush to your face as you just wanted to bury your head in your bag like an ostrich to sand, would not fail at making you feel as giddy as a little girl on her birthday.
To further add to your torment, your friend would not stop looking back and forth between the two of you with knowing eyes and a humorous glint in her eyes, finding humour at your expense.
Poor you.
Finally, finally, the clock struck 12 and like Cinderella (without the dress, glass slippers and rodent helpers) you ran out of the lecture hall as fast as you could, nearly tripping over your shoelaces, ducking your head to avoid the looks your got from others as you rushed past them.
Especially the one who practically seared holes into your form as you left.
Your friend fought through the crowd to catch up with you and question exactly what the fuck was happening, because it was obvious from the way Mr. Park was looking at you that he was interested in nothing else but you.
Reaching the cafeteria in no time, you headed over to one of the quieter tables near the side of the floor to ceiling window overlooking the vast campus of the college. You sat down with a huff, rubbing at your temples as your friend plopped into the seat across from yours, laying her bag on the table and fixing you with a pointed stare – one that clearly said she wanted answers.
You sighed and folded your arms in front of you, returning her gaze wearily.
“Alright, where do I start?”
“Well,” she began, “you can start by telling me what the hell happened last night,” she advised. And so, you were quiet for a moment, recollecting your thoughts as to how you were going to explain what happened last night in the simplest way. Mistaking your silence for hesitance, she continued, “I mean, nothing bad could have happened, right? You’re not the type to sleep around or mess with people, so really, nothing crazy would have happened when I left you last night. You looked like you were having fun,” she reasoned.
If you could have somehow converted ‘: )))))’ into actual words, or even a proper expression on your face at that moment, you would have in a heartbeat. It would have been easier than explaining that you had a sudden change of personality last night for the only man who was capable of causing it. The one man who now happens to be teaching your literature class.
“Uh, well. Uhm,” you stammered, desperate to get out actual words than nonsensical sounds that seem to be the only thing your mouth can form at the moment. Your friend just stared at you as if you were performing some weird dance before her eyes, ready to get up and get you a bottle of water since you looked like you were struggling to even breathe let alone speak, until you groaned and slid further down your seat, hands covering your face as you mumbled something.
“I’m sorry, what? I didn’t hear you,” she apologised, and leaned over the table to hear you better.
You kept your face hidden, and tried again, slightly louder this time.
“I….with….” you repeated, but it still did not reach your friends ears.
“My god, Y/N, I really can’t hear you when you’re whispering like that. And it’s even worse since the cafeteria is full. Just tell me,” she implored, and you gave a miniscule sigh before shifting the hands on your face so that while your eyes were covered, your mouth wasn’t.
“I had sex with him,” you whispered, and awaited your friends reaction, world still in darkness thanks to the hands on your eyes, as if you could hide away from the embarrassment.
Silence.
An uncomfortable silence, your friend was always one to talk and be chatty and loud. So the silence was unexpected, and you peeked from behind your hands to catch a glimpse of her face.
She was frozen in shock, jaw hanging open and staring at you as if you grew an extra head in the time that passed since the conversation started.
She recovered after a few seconds, and in the worst way possible she broke the silence and returned to her boisterous personality.
“Oh my god, you fucked the new professor?!” she exclaimed and you sat up quickly with wide eyes, hands covering her mouth as you looked around, praying that no one heard her. Seeing no heads turn your way, you fixed her with a glare.
“Would you be quiet? I don’t want everyone to know, thank you very much!” you snapped, and she nodded frantically, prying your hands off her face.
“Oh wow, you actually had sex with him? With a stranger?” she questioned, and you had to keep from rolling your eyes. You weren’t that quiet, were you?
“Yes, I did,” you retorted, and scratched at your head. “I really enjoyed being with him and, I don’t know, I just…invited him in. He was interested, I was interested, and…”
“One thing lead to another?” she snorted in disbelief, and you gave a slight chuckle and the cliché phrase.
“Yeah. One thing lead to another,” you imitated, and the two of you sat in silence once more. She laughed after a while.
“What the hell happened to my best friend in a few hours?” she wondered and you scoffed in response, eyeing the table instead of her. A small smile made its way to your face as you recalled the events of last night, a smile your friend didn’t miss.
“So,” she announced, “you’re going to tell me everything. And I mean everything. Don’t leave out any gory details.”
You grimaced at that. “I’m going to leave some details out,” you said, and she gave a quick sigh before muttering ‘yeah, yeah, I’ll get those details someday’ before moving her hands in a ‘get on with it’ motion.
And so, you retold the tale of your night with Park Jimin, from start to finish, leaving out explicit details to stop any perverted comments, and finished the story at when you woke up that morning. Your friend said nothing when you concluded your story, instead, she stood up and stretched, gesturing for you to follow her outside.
Stepping out through the doors of the cafeteria, you take a deep breath, inhaling the sweet spring air. The leaves on the trees around you were regaining their colour, and the campus was becoming more colourful and lively in preparation for summer. You both walked in silence towards benches near the science buildings, taking a seat and just taking in the air around you.
She looks over in your direction and catches your eye when you turn your head towards her, a strange smile playing on her lips. Like she knows something you don’t.
“What,” you ask her, eyeing her wearily. She was definitely hiding something.
“Nothing!” she beams too innocently, “Just wondering, what are you gonna do now?”
“Uh…I don’t know. Avoid literature to save myself from repeated deaths from embarrassment?” you reply sarcastically. “Why? What do you think I should do?”
She hums. “Oh, I don’t know. I just figured you should think of a solution fast, since Mr. Park is walking over here now.” And with that, she gathers up her things, making to leave and let you face your doom alone. What are friends for?
Whipping your head around, you find she was telling the truth. Jimin was heading in your direction – actually, heading towards you, specifically, and you reached out to grasp at your friend’s wrist to beg her not to leave but she was out of reach at that point, sending a wink over her shoulder at you before walking away.
Passing by Jimin, she sent a polite ‘hello’, to which he replied with a nod and a small smile, before training his eyes directly on yours now (eyes which were nearly popping out of your skull).
Jimin strode up to you with a shy smile, a contrast to the man in the classroom when he had been in a superior position. You return a nervous smile of your own, nails scratching at the material of your jeans in your lap. You flush when he approaches, and you offer the seat next to you. He sits down, closer than one normally would, and the proximity is enough to make your head spin just like last night.
Jimin grins at you, those beautiful eyes of his lost as his lids form a crescent shape, and his smile is bright enough the blind you. He looks just as good as last night, dressed smart yet casually for work in a plain t shirt and jeans. A combo overlooked by most other, but one that almost makes you drool and wonder why he wasn’t a model instead of a teacher. But maybe that was the lovestruck girl inside you saying that.
Maybe.
“Hey Y/N,” he begins coolly (but it was fake, Jimin spent the better half of the lunch break working up the nerve to even text you, let alone seek you out, and he spent a further ten minutes psyching himself up and going through what he was going to say to you when he noticed you walking around campus).
“Hey, Jimin…” you return quietly, too nervous to look him in the eye so you settle for looking at your surroundings.
And then it’s quiet. And it’s awkward. So very awkward. It’s as though there’s a barrier between the two of you, one that definitely was not there last night. It felt horrible, but you didn’t know how to act now, especially with the knowledge that he is your lecturer for the next few months.
Likewise, Jimin had trouble coming up with something to say (again, but this time he didn’t have the luxury of freaking out in private). His mouth opened only to close once again, and he sighed through his nose, running a hand through his hair.
Finally, you spoke up, bringing to light the only thing running through your mind since Jimin entered that class this morning.
“So…you never told me you were a professor,” you commented, and saw Jimin wince out of the corner of your eye. He gave an awkward laugh, attempting to lighten the situation, before stopping when you didn’t follow suit.
“You never told me you were a student here,” he countered, and you looked at him at that. He had a slight furrow to his brows, but other than that, his face was relaxed, seemingly unbothered by the taboo situation at hand between the two of you.
You gaped, tongue heavy in your mouth before you choked out “how come education never came up in our conversation? Of all things?”
Jimin did laugh at that observation, offering a shrug in response.
“I don’t know, actually. I guess I was just too distracted getting to know the real you than the you that others see,” he admitted smoothly, and your face burned hotter than any sun in the galaxy. How could he just say things like that? And so effortlessly at that? (Ha. ‘Effortlessly.’ Pity you didn’t realise that when Jimin folded his arms across his chest, it was to hide his hands that were clammy and slightly shaky after that comment.)
“O-Oh, well,” you stuttered, at a loss for words. The man could simply breathe in your direction and it would be enough to make you weak at the knees while simultaneously firing up your body better than any drug. Just how could one man do this? You only knew him for a few hours, at best!
Jimin coughed and dropped his gaze to his lap, his nervous disposition appearing again, his cool front fraying at the edges because of one girl who made his whole existence brighter with just a look.
“I wanted to apologise for running out on you this morning,” he starts. You furrow your brow. You know why he did it, he had a job to get to (evidently).
“It’s fine, Jimin, don’t worry,” you reply, and his name sounds like honey dripping from your lips. No other girl has made his heart beat as fast as you, cause the nicest pain in his chest when he thinks of you. You could tell him ‘fuck off’ in this moment, and he would thank any gods above for gracing him with your presence. Please don’t tell him to fuck off, though. He doesn’t know if he could stand the rejection, and the thought sends a chill through him. He doesn’t understand his feelings properly, not at all. But he knows he wants more of these feelings that only you can bring. He’s raptured with you, and he wants you.
“I felt terrible though. I would never do that to someone, especially someone like you,” he objected, flickering his eyes up to meet yours. His breath hitched at the beauty of them, and he almost forgot what he was going to say before he mentally shook his head to get himself back on track. “So, I was hoping you could give me another chance,” he asked.
You stared at him, slightly confused, before replying “what did you have in mind?”
Jimin smiled slyly with a coating of sugary sweetness that left you both perplexed and excited.
“I was hoping to make good on my offer of taking you out for coffee,” he announces, and your tummy twists in thrill. “I meant what I wrote. I really enjoyed being with you last night. And…I was hoping that I could get to know you even more.” He really does. He can’t describe it, but there is this inexplicable pull towards you, and he can’t resist, as if you have him wrapped around your pinkie finger (which you do, you definitely do).
You bow your head to look at your fingers which are fidgeting in your lap. Your hair shrouds your face, which you are grateful for, not wanting Jimin to see the giant grin on your face. You’re pretty sure if you open your mouth something devastatingly embarrassing or weird will come out, so you settle for nodding your head and mumbling ‘sure’.
Jimin’s shoulders deflate in relief, and an amazed chuckle escapes his lips. He feels impossibly giddy, and can almost feel his body start to vibrate from excitement and nerves. He unfolds his arms and rubs his hands against his thighs, a grin so wide plastered on his face it’s possible his face could crack.
“That’s great!” he gushed, nodding to himself. This was better than great, he didn’t expect you to want more. He was about to say more when he noticed the time on his wrist watch, and shot straight to his feet with a curse.
“I’m sorry, but I have to get to my next class,” he grimaces, and you wave off his apologies with a small smile. “I’ll text you later?” he wonders, and it’s hard not to miss the hopeful gleam in his eyes.
“Yeah. I can’t wait,” you blurt out and want to smack yourself. Calm down Y/N. But Jimin doesn’t laugh at you, but gives you the most beautiful, blinding grin possible, and you were positive fairies were about to arrive and fly around him.
“Me either,” he agrees, and starts walking backwards, offering a small wave in parting. “See you, Y/N.”
“See you, Jimin,” you replied, watching as he turned around and jogged back towards the centre of the campus.
Your grin didn’t leave your face the entire bus ride home, nor when you were eating dinner, nor when you were settling into bed, feeling lighter than you ever had before.
And it just got wider when you received a simple ‘hello 😊’ text from Jimin, and it even didn’t fade when your awoke groggily and exhausted after a night full of texting.

After agreeing to meet up on Friday afternoon at one of the quieter coffee shops in the city, the panic began to settle in.
The other lectures you had with Jimin were both awkward but amazing, considering any chance you had to see more of him was not an opportunity wasted. You just wished your friend would stop with the snickering whenever she caught Jimin stealing glances at you or favouring your opinions it class. She said he always looks at you with the dreamiest, lovestruck look on his face, but you don’t believe that. Even though you want it to be true.
But as the days progressed closer and closer to Friday, you grew nervous. What if he doesn’t like you as much as he thought? What if he regrets it? You couldn’t bare be in the same room with him if that was the case, your heart would hurt too much. There were also plenty of girls (and guys) who were interested in Jimin. I mean who wouldn’t be? It was Jimin for crying out loud – he was beautiful, sweet, charismatic, caring, the list goes on. Why would he want you when there were plenty of other people prettier and more interesting than you?
Your friend nearly ate your face off when you voiced your concerns to her, calling you crazy. Her ‘tough love’ methods shone through, yelling compliment after compliment at you, reasons why Jimin chose you, etc. It was oddly endearing, if not intense, but you appreciated her words all the same.
On Friday, your nerves were worse than ever. You thanked god you had a day off college, so you had plenty of time to prepare. But that ended up being worse than being busy, left to drown in your thoughts and anxiety before it was time to leave. So you readied yourself, prepped yourself up, and headed out the door.
Jimin offered to pick you up, but you declined. You didn’t want him to go out of his way for you, and besides, you figured the walk could help you clear your mind (it didn’t, you were still nervous as hell).
When you made your way to the coffee shop you were surprised to see Jimin already standing outside of it, considering you were at least ten minutes early. He was fidgeting; hands moving from his pockets, to pulling down the sleeves of jumper to his hair, running through the strands.
He looked nervous, and that set you slightly at ease. At least you weren’t the only one.
You strolled over to him and greeted him with a ‘hello’ and he nearly jumped out of his skin in response.
“Y/N! You’re here! You’re early,” he chirped and laughed awkwardly while he shifted his weight.
“So are you,” you countered, eyebrow raised in amusement.
“Ah, well, I just got here,” he smirked. Wow, Jimin should really stop lying to you, but he supposes it’s better to act cool than to let you know he sat in his car for ten minutes making sure everything was going to go smoothly as possible, he wasn’t going to fuck up, or scare you, or anything else embarrassing like that. Before you could make a comment, Jimin interrupted you. “Let’s head in! The coffee here is the best.”
He placed a hand on the small of your back, just like the other night, and ushered you into the shop. The smell of freshly brewed coffee and sweet baked goods immediately hit you, filling you with a sense of comfort. The coffee shop was quaint; warm hues of brown an cremes along the walls, dark mahogany tables and chairs spread throughout the area. Jimin led you to a table in a secluded corner of the shop, pulling out your chair for you like a gentleman.
“What would you like? My treat, of course,” he beamed, positively proud of himself.
“Oh, you don’t have to Jimin,” you started, “I can pay for myself, don’t trouble yourself.”
“I want to treat you,” he insisted, and you would argue more but he looks set on his decision, so you look at the list of coffees and treats on offer before relaying your order. He sends a wink your way and says he’ll be back soon, well enough since you’re burying your face in your hands.
You look around the café in the meantime, admiring the little ornaments and artwork hung on shelves. It seems like a popular café but you’ve come in at one of its quieter moments, only a few customers in the in the room, most who appear to be students like you. You make a mental note to come here again to relax when college becomes too much.
Jimin returned shortly after and placed your drink in front of you along with a little chocolate cake for you.
“Something sweet for an even sweeter girl,” he chuckled, and you snorted unattractively in response, quickly covering your mouth and thanking him for the cake. Jimin only smiled some more, thinking it was one of the (oddly) nicest sounds he’s ever heard, and saves it in the back of his mind for a rainy day.
“So, how was your day so far?” he asks once you’ve taken sips of your drinks.
Absolutely nerve-wracking you want to say. But instead you settle for “it’s been good, pretty boring but now it’s better. You?”
Wow, was Jimin blushing?
“Ah, it was ok. Classes kinda dragged on, I just wanted to be here with you all day,” he admits, and you would have gawked at the comment but it was the former half that caught your interest.
“Ah, yeah. Classes, because you’re a professor. At my college. In my class. Professor Park,” you stammer, and Jimin drops his gaze to his fingers resting on the dark wood of the table. He looks uneasy, and you almost regret bringing it up (that was not a face you wanted to see on Jimin, ever), but you wanted answers that have been plaguing your mind since that first class, so you persist and stay determined.
“Yeah…I’m sorry I didn’t tell you anything. I just didn’t expect you to be in my class, or the same college, to be honest. And since it didn’t come up in conversation, I just left it. I didn’t see a point in bringing it up, you know? We were having so much fun, I didn’t want to interrupt you when you were talking. I honestly could listen to you talk for hours,” he prattled, catching himself and giving a cough of humiliation.
“You’re a bit young for a professor, aren’t you?” you quizzed. Jimin barked out a laugh, skimming his fingers over the edge of his mug.
“Yeah, well. The college was looking for a replacement for Ms’ Abbot, and I had a degree. The college decided to take me in in the meantime while they looked for a more qualified replacement. I need the money and experience, so I took it,” he explained, and everything was clearer to you know. Yeah, that made sense.
“Kinda funny how it happened to be my class,” you comment in wry amusement, and he bobs his head in agreement.
“Doesn’t hurt though. I get to see your beautiful face every day, don’t I?” he smirks and you purse your lips to keep from screaming. How can he just say these things so casually? Doesn’t he understand he’s killing you on the inside?
“Sure, Jimin, if that’s what makes you happy,” you reply sarcastically, and Jimin’s face fades from a smirk to a smile brimming with warmth, gazing at you with a gleam in his eye you can’t discern.
“Yeah,” he breathed softly, “it really does.”
All you can do is stare in awe at his confession. Keep it up, Jimin, and he might just be able to make you spontaneously combust. Those butterflies that haven’t left since Jimin arrived agree with you, for they themselves are ready to be set alight with Jimin’s honeyed words.

The date was just as good as the night at the bar, if not better, for there was no difficulty in trying to be heard by the other because of the lively crowd. Instead, this was quiet, intimate, and it made your heart soar. It felt like it was just you and Jimin in the café, in the world, and with how incredibly close he was paying attention to you, hanging off every word you said, you might as well have been the only person in the world.
For you were the only one that mattered to him.
You had him hooked, and he doesn’t even want to try to escape.
That date set off a string of others, of varying degrees of excitement. He would take you to places such as the museum, book readings, restaurants, the local carnival, the park, anywhere and everywhere. And you loved every single one of them. They were full of nothing but laughter and bliss, young love in the air, and ended in kisses and hugs that warmed you better than any fire ever could. Every second you spent with Jimin, you fell harder and harder, to the point you were certain you were buried underneath everything Jimin, your own personal grave that you didn’t mind staying in, for Jimin was with you at all times.
During class times and college, you kept a low profile, sparing secret smiles you kept only for each other and quick words before and after class. You managed to brush off most of the questions your friend barrages you with, your business is your own and you only tell her what you want to share. That doesn’t stop her teasing, though, or even her protective side. Jimin had been perplexed when she stalked up to him one day as you were talking with him, warning him that if he so much as breaks your heart she’ll break his nose in kind, and Jimin assured her wholeheartedly that he had no intention of doing that. Ever.
Your favourite moments with Jimin, if you had to choose out of the many wonderful moments you’ve had these past few weeks, would be the time you’ve spent with him in either his apartment or yours. Those moments were relaxing for the both of you – hours upon hours spent cuddling and talking, or watching movies or reading together, even cooking together. It was just so…domestic. And it made you yearn for more of that lifestyle with Jimin. He made your days brighter by just existing, and slowly but surely, he brought you out of your shell, while sticking to your boundaries. And you couldn’t be more grateful for him. He was a missing piece in your life, and you don’t want to get rid of him.
It was on one of these nights you find yourself on Jimin’s couch, resting between his legs while his hands play with your hair, not paying much attention to the movie on the screen. You have never felt more content in your life, you would stay in this position for the rest of your life if you could. But Jimin had other plans for the night.
Since your ‘one night stand’, and since your first date, neither of you have ventured farther from kisses and hugs. Honestly, you wanted more like that night, you just didn’t know how to bring it up. Jimin, ever the observant one, noticed how your lips would linger on his a bit longer than they should, how whenever he’d smirk at you, your legs would rub together to create fiction you sought after. And Jimin was a caring person, and he cared for you. So, whatever you wanted, Jimin would do for you.
You opened your eyes at the sensation of lips making their way to the spot behind your ear, sucking on it and causing a gasp to leave you.
“Jimin?” you questioned, but he shushed you, his hands that were resting on your torso moving underneath your breasts. Your hands flew to his knees around you and gripped hard, tensing as he nipped and sucked at your neck.
“I’m gonna make you feel good, baby,” he answered, and you moaned at the pet name. His hands cupped your breasts and he squeezed, listening to your breath hitch. “Do you want me to make you feel good?” he wondered, and you realised he was giving you an out if you weren’t comfortable. But you wanted this so badly, so you nodded, and could practically feel the smirk at the back of your neck.
“Good girl. Just leave it to me”
And with that, he snuck his hands under your top, fingers smoothing along the expanse of your stomach before moving under the cup of your bra, kneading the soft flesh with care. Your head rolled against his shoulder and you shuddered, feeling yourself already get wet.
Jimin rolled his hips into your backside, erection poking you through his jeans and he groaned, moving in a steady pace, seeking friction for his hard on. You rolled your hips into his as well, and he gave a low whine, lips returning to your neck with fervour.
“Take me to bed Jimin,” you asked, and he almost flew up from the couch, pulling you up with such a speed that you almost got whiplash. He tugged you into his bedroom and promptly shut the door, spinning around and pulling you in for a kiss that left both of you equally breathless. He moved until your knees hit the edge of his bed and you fell backwards, dragging him on top of you, hands tugging on his dark hair. He grunted and lifted (more like ripped) your top off along with your bra, head ducking back down to your chest where he swirled his tongue around your right nipple before nibbling lightly on it, other hand pinching the left nipple. You threw your head back against the bed, arching into his mouth as he switched his attention to your left breast.
“Oh, Jimin,” you moaned out, and Jimin nearly came at the sound. He loves when you say his name, always have, always will. But tonight, he wants to hear something else. He bit down on your nipple and you yelped, looking down at him.
“I want you to call me sir. I’m your professor, aren’t I? You should be treating me with respect, remember?” he commanded, smirking up at you from your bust.
Fuck. You opened your mouth to respond, but a high pitched whine escaped you instead. Jimin chuckled, and asked again.
“Are you going to call me sir?”
You nodded frantically, but Jimin wasn’t pleased. He tutted and moved to sit up, gripping your thighs and settling between them.
“I want an answer, baby girl,” he demanded, and narrowed his eyes at you, eyes that were darker than the night around you.
“Yes, s-sir,” you meekly responded, and he grinned devilishly, giving your thighs a squeeze that had you jolting in surprise. He slid his hands up to the waistband of your jeans and pulled both your pants and underwear off all at once, leaving you completely bare before him. Keeping his hands on your thighs, effectively stopping you from closing them, he gave a smirk.
“Good girl, I think you deserve a reward,” he declared, and with that, he bent down and you watched as his head nearly disappeared as he lowered himself to your sex, licking a long stripe up your folds which had you crying out, hands gripping onto his hair for dear life.
He licked up and down your pussy, circling your clit before flicking his tongue against it in rapid motions that had you seeing stars. He brought his tongue down to your entrance, hesitating a moment before plunging in, and you nearly screamed at the sensation. He pumped his tongue in and out of you, bringing a hand up to rub a thumb against your nub, and you could feel you end approaching. You bucked your hips in to face, hearing him chuckled before the pressure from his thumb got harder, and it became more difficult to stop your orgasm. You looked down at Jimin, and as you caught his heated gaze, watching as his tongue licked around your folds as he smirked, you came undone from the sight, mouth forming the perfect ‘o’ shape and a loud moan escaping from your chest. He licked you through your high, hands rubbing at your thighs for comfort. You tugged at his hair when it became too sensitive and he sat up, licking you essence of his lips, the taste of you making him shut his eyes in bliss.
“You taste so fucking good,” he breathed out, and you didn’t have it in you to blush at the crude comment, too focused on his erection straining against his jeans. Remembering his orders, you licked your lips, stuttering out “d-do you want to fuck me, sir?”.
Jimin growled out a “fuck yes” at your words and rushed to remove his clothing until he was as bare as you, hand pumping his cocking as he held a condom.
“Put it on for me,” he requested, and you complied, sitting up and grasping at his dick. You moved your hand up and down in his place, listening to his breathing get heavier, and on a whim, you leant down and pressed your lips to his tip. His reaction was immediate, hands gripping tightly onto your hair as he groaned. You gave a few kitten licks, gathering up the courage to eventually place your lips over his cock. You prepared yourself, taking a deep breath before sinking down until he hit the back of your throat. You raise your head again, before repeating the process. You bob your head up and down his dick, hearing his breathing hitch when you sucked on a particularly sensitive spot, but he pulled you up, wanting to cum inside you.
You lay on your back, waiting for Jimin to place the condom on, hands reaching out for him when he came closer, kissing you with a smile on his lips. You felt him poking at your entrance so you reached down, allowing him to push into you with a whine. You sighed as he filled you up so perfectly, hands clinging to his shoulders as he began to move his hips in and out of you. You gasped, pulling him in for a desperate kiss, feeling the knot in you steadily build up once more. Jimin sat upright, moving your legs over his shoulders, and the new position caused him to brush against that spot inside you repeatedly, making you near cross eyed at the feeling. His thrusts get faster, and when you feel his fingers rub at your clit you know you aren’t going to last long.
“Come for me,” he groans, rolling his hips into yours and you cum as if a switch was turned on inside of you, heat clouding every one of your senses. Jimin’s hips started to move at an erratic pace, seeking his high and he got it after a minute of plunging his cock into you, spilling his seed into the condom with a drawn-out moan. He pulled out after a few seconds, throwing the condom into a nearby bin and pulling you into his arms, wrapping the blanket around your forms and peppering kisses all over your face, leaving you a giggling mess.
He pulled back to smile the warmest smile at you, and you could have cried in that moment. You loved Park Jimin so much it hurt, but you couldn’t tell him that. Not yet.
For now, you’re content to stay in the warmth of his embrace, falling asleep to the sound of his heartbeat and his lips on the crown of your head.

As the saying goes, nothing lasts forever, and all good things must come to an end.
You just wish you had spent more time with Jimin before you had to let go.
Your bliss came to an abrupt halt one day while sitting in the park with Jimin. He had guided you over to one of the many deck chairs and tables strewn about the park, sitting across from you as you both enjoyed the ice-cream you bought, soaking in the rays of the sun.
It had been a lovely day (as it usually was, any day with Jimin was amazing), and the two of you were simply enjoying each other’s company, the weekend spent with one another as always.
The more you spent with Jimin, the more you loved him, as if it was even possible at that point. You noticed and cherished the little things he’d do or say, small gestures of love and care that made your heart burst, keeping them locked away in your heart, those little things warming your bed at night when he wasn’t there to do it.
You wanted him all to yourself, but of course, life had other plans.
It came in the form of Jang-mi, another student in your class who you got on reasonably well with. You weren’t friends, exactly, but she would strike up a conversation with you whenever she saw you. And, of course, she saw you in the park. With Jimin. Who, you noticed, she also had a keen interest in since day one.
She walked over towards your table with a smile, eyeing Jimin carefully as she reached you. Jimin became tense once he recognised her, but offered her a polite smile all the same, if nothing but to keep up appearances. He didn’t want your day together to be ruined by seeming rude and causing a fuss.
“Y/N! We haven’t talked in forever! How are you? Out enjoying the sun,” she questioned, eyes flickering to Jimin every few seconds. And every few seconds, you felt your gut clench in discomfort. This was bad, and you couldn’t explain why exactly, but you knew it was just going to get worse.
“Hi, Jang-mi,” you greeted quietly, “I’m good. How are you?” you asked politely, but honestly you couldn’t care less in that moment. You just wanted her to leave along with the feeling of dread clawing at your chest. Jimin shifted awkwardly beside you, ice-cream long forgotten, and rubbed at his neck, a nervous tick you picked up on. He must feel as uncomfortable as you.
“I’m great, thanks! I was just out shopping,” she giggled, and shifted her focus to Jimin who stilled under her attention, strained smile plastered on his visage. “Mr. Park, it’s so nice to see you!” Oh, I’m sure it was so nice to see him. “What are you doing here? Are you two…together, or…” she trailed off and your blood ran cold. What could you tell her? Before you could panic any further, Jimin answered her for you.
“I was just helping her with some extra work. She asked me for help, and I could only do it today,” he lied, and you blessed him in that moment for being so quick.
“But…I don’t see any books around,” she observed, ready to say more before Jimin interrupted.
“That’s because we just finished, all our stuff is put away now. I wanted to come to the park to relax and asked if she wanted to tag along,” he smiled saccharinely at her, and she blushed a bright red.
She still looked unconvinced, however, but decided to drop it in favour of keeping Jimin’s attention on her.
“Ah, I understand. Maybe you could give me some extra lessons sometime, Mr. Park?” she inquired, coy smile playing at her lips. You wanted to roll your eyes but refrained from doing so, lest she saw. Were you jealous? No, that’s crazy. You aren’t a jealous person. (You weren’t, except when it involved Park Jimin).
Jimin coughed in surprise before reluctantly agreeing, giving the excuse that he had to check his schedule to see if it was free. Jang-mi giggled and batted her eyes at him, and the sight almost made you puke.
“For a second, it almost looked like the two of you were a couple,” she laughed, and you froze. “But that’s insane, isn’t it? I mean, that’s not allowed, and I don’t think many people would be happy if the two of you were together. He’s a teacher, you’re a student. That’s practically illegal,” she mused, tilting her pretty little head to the side and shrugging. “At least it’s not true. I’d hate to see a teacher as good as Mr. Park get fired over something like that. Anyway, I need to go. I’ll talk to you on Monday! See you Y/n! Bye Mr. Park!”
And with that, sending one last impish grin at the two of you, she walked off in the other direction. Jimin was deathly quiet beside you, and you hated it. All notion of finishing your now melted ice-cream was gone, so you picked up the tub to throw it in the nearest bin. Jimin followed suit, throwing his away too, and went to walk near you but you moved away from him at the last second.
You could feel the weight of his stare on the side of your face as you walked out of the park together. It was eerily silent and uneasy between you, a feeling you’ve never once experienced with him before. You hated this, couldn’t handle the flood of doubt and hurt clouding your mind, couldn’t handle the silence.
Without realising, you both had walked towards where his car was parked just outside the park. But instead of getting in, you went past it, and continued on in the direction of your apartment by foot. Jimin called out your name in confusion, and you came to a stop, turning around to face his troubled face; furrowed brows and down-turned lips and all. A face like his should never wear an expression like that, and you despised yourself for being the cause of it.
“What are you doing,” he asked in confusion. You stared at your feet, unable to look him in the eyes as you whispered out your reply.
“I’m walking home.”
“But…I’m giving you a ride,” he questioned, perplexed at your sudden change in demeanour. You took a deep breath, not feeling enough air get into your lungs, before replying:
“It’s kinda weird for professors to give their students rides home all the time, isn’t it?”
Jimin’s face dropped (along with his heart and his stomach). So, you were as freaked out about the encounter with Jang-mi as you seemed. He cleared his throat.
“Are you seriously going to listen to her Y/N? What she said was stupid, you shouldn’t listen to that. She’s probably just jealous. We’re fin-“
“But we’re not!” you snapped, eyes flying up to meet his and Jimin fell silent. “She’s right! We shouldn’t be doing this kind of thing! You could get fired, Jimin. I know you need the money and the job.”
“But it’s bullshit!” he argued back. “We have a good thing going, and in these past few weeks I can honestly say I’ve never been happier in my life than when I’m with you. Please, don’t listen to her.” Please don’t leave me.
“But how much longer are we going to sneak around? She’s gonna tell others about us, eventually they’ll see us, the college will hear about it,” you rambled, your throat constricting with each word. Fuck, you loved him too much. And this hurt the same as if someone was stabbing you repeatedly in the heart. But you don’t want Jimin to suffer because of this. Because of you. You don’t want his career to end before it begins.
“Jimin, we can’t do this anymore.”
Jimin was positive he was about to puke on the path where he stood, but he couldn’t even bend over to do it, standing stock still at your words. His heartbeat slowed until he was sure it stopped, and he felt pure panic take control of mouth as he spluttered out a mess of words, words like:
“No, no, no, please!”
“This can’t be happening.”
“Fuck, fuck, fuck!”
He felt the tell tale burn of tears in his eyes, and he knows blinking won’t will them away, especially since he sees some rolling down your cheeks, the most heart breaking sight he can imagine. You refuse to come any closer to him, afraid to break down even worse in his arms. You need to put distance between you. You need to get used to it. (You won’t, though, you won’t ever get used to the hole in your heart now.)
Jimins hands are shaking, and he so desperately wishes to cling onto you, to hold you and never let you go, but when he sees you walking backwards slowly, he hides them in his pockets, cursing himself for not being braver. Coward, his mind hisses at him, and he meekly agrees with it.
“I’m, so, so, sorry, Jimin,” you sobbed, and increased the space. “I love you, and I’m so sorry.”
And then you ran, out of sight as you rounded the corner, but certainly not out of Jimin’s mind, as you left him standing on the sidewalk, a sniffling mess as he tried to pick up the pieces of his heart after your admission and departure.
But he couldn’t. Those little pieces followed you as you ran, for you owned his heart. And he loved you too. But he couldn’t tell you that anymore.
The decision was made.

Does AARP offer affordable health insurance? What is the best medical care option for low income Americans?
I am helping someone trying to find health benefits. She saw an add for AARP on TV and asked me to check into it. From what I can see AARP is a magazine subscriiption that offers a few discounts and offers a plan to suppliment existing insurance. It does not appear to be a place you can go for affordable primary health insurance. She is 55 years old, in relatively good health, except for taking high blood pressure medicine, a legal U.S. resident and currently unemployed. He last job was a Nanny job and that is probably what she will find next, but those kind of jobs are usually with a private family and they offer nothing in way of benefits. I have tried to GOOGLE low income health insurance and the best I have found is a short term policy, with a 7500 hospital deductable that costs 256.00 a month, still out of her reach. Are there any alternatives for low income Americans? Is AARP a possible solution to get her access to affordable medical care? All input is appreciated. She is just wants to be able to get affordable medical care and I really do not have an answer for her""
Is it legal for car lot to hold my check from insurance?
I had a wreck a couple weeks ago and told me I could come pick up my check today from insurance. When I got there to fill out the paperwork and pick up the check they told me it wasn't ready and that they will have to send it to the car dealer (Express Credit Auto) so they can take out what I owe and they give me whats left which I do not have a car now and the check was to get me another car, which I told them and all they said was to use what is left to get another car by them. Which I just want my check so I can get my car, I told them I will still be paying my bill for the car but they then said it is illegal for the insurance to give me the check when they hold the lien to the car. I don't know what the legal side is, can anyone help me??""

Why do a lot of health insurance plans through your parents employers cut you off at 25 yrs old?
I'm a full time student and turned 25 in September. I guess once September ended I'm no longer covered under my dad's health insurance. I was surprised because I at least thought I had the semester to finish off since it was that way with my friend. But anyways, why do a lot of companies cut you off by then? I know a lot of people at that age are done with college, but there are still plenty who aren't. I'm still an undergrad, but what about the ones that are going to medical school, dental school, etc, that aren't even done with college until there late 20s if they went right out of high school? 25 is still young, and it's still hard to afford for most people at that age. Also, I heard about student insurance. Do most college have that for students to check into?""

Do police check with your car insurance to make sure it's valid when you're pulled over?
I've always been curious as to if this would work, but in the past a few friends of mine had bought insurance, paid up to date for 6 months, canceled two weeks later, gotten most of their money back and obtained a proof of insurance that said they were paid for the next six months. They claim that if they were to get pulled over, they could continue to use this proof of insurance just as if they were actually still driving legal. Of course this could backfire on them in obvious ways if they were to actually get in an accident, but as far as getting pulled over, would this actually stop them from getting a ticket for no insurance ? Can and do the police verify with your insurance company over their computers while you are pulled over? Thanks!""

What is the difference between being forced to buy health insurance vs. being forced to buy car insurance?
In my state we are forced to have car insurance or we will be fined. I know that having the government intervene more in our health insurance seems like more of a step in a socialism direction but were we already going that direction anyway with car insurance AND we did already have medicare and medicaid. This reform does not seem like anything more than insurance reform and medicare/medicaid reform. It is not as radical as it could be: http://healthreform.kff.org/SubsidyCalculator.aspx The government subsidies are not even that good. People making around 30-50k still have to pay $200-300 a month for healthcare and now they are actually being FORCED to do it no matter what. The government will only help with $500 per year of that total bill. I am a conservative...BUT why is this so bad? Dont we really need healthcare reform because the way it is going it looks like in 10 more years nobody will be able to afford insurance period if things were left the way they were (it has gone up 100% in the last 10 years). Change can be good sometimes. Everyone needs to calm down.

No proof of insurance question?
So i made a mistake. I was stopped last night and cited by a law enforcement officer for no proof of insurance. I had an idea that my insurance was no longer valid due to it overdrafting from my account when i had no money. so i contacted the insurance company and now they will NOT re-instate the insurance policy due to the fact that i have had two bad overdrafts with them. I completly understand, and like i told the officer, this is my fault...i was poor..... anyways. Now i hear that the fine is 400.00 to start, i am willing to pay as i did not take the time to ensure insurance was active on the vehicle and that the overdraft was taken care of. However now i am hearing im going to loose my license...... So i was told by the driver license department that if i go out now and get an SR22 qualifying insurance plan with a different company, that when i walk into the justice court payment window, they will not take away my license from me? however justice court states that my license will get taken away and i have to bring the proof of insurance to the DMV............and get my license back. Please note i have a california license in the state of utah..... please help? what can i do to fix this? i will pay the fine, as i did the crime wether i was for-sure or not....but i need my license, i just moved and am living in a place wityh no friends, and a new job... Buying a new car but confused on car insurance...what should I do?
I am going to be part exchanging my old car for a new one. In terms of car insurance I still have 2 months left so I believe its cheaper if I just go with another insurance company as my current insurance might charge a lot for just 2 months. I am thinking of using my previous insurance NCB( elephant 1 year ) for the new insurance as proof of my NCB but the problem is I sent my NCB 1(year) (elephant) to my current insurance(Directline). Basically I would like to know if its possible to use my previous NCB (Elephant) which I it proves I have 1 year no claims for the new car insurance. I done some research and found it that having 2 years NCB makes 20 compared to 1 year NCB. What should I do?

How much do you pay for home insurance?
So we are paying like $132 for car insurance on two vehicles with American Family Insurance and we both have clean records although we are young 22 (f) and 24 (m). We just got a quote from Wawanesa they said we could do full coverage through them for half the price 80 a month! Although they don't do home insurance and I know you can save a lot by combining the two. So now through AFI we pay about $40 a month for home insurance is that a good price with the combined home and auto?? How much do you think it will go up if we cancel the car insurance and go with wawanesa?? Is there cheaper insurance agencies that will cover only home? In the end I am just looking for how much you pay and if you combine your auto with the same company. Thanks!!

Young Pre-op MTF Transgender and car insurance in New York State?
Ok, this question may sound odd, but I could use an answer. As I'm MTF (Male-to-female) Transsexual, have been on hormones for several years and will probably go for SRS (sex reassignment surgery) in the future, I could easily get a letter stating that my predominant gender is female. In New York State, this is apparently all that is required to change the gender marker on one's driver's license. http://rnytg.org/dmv.html Now my question is the following; I just haven't bothered with changing the marker on my license yet as it seems like a hassle and I don't think it's really necessary at the moment. However, my dad wants to gift me a car at the end of the week. For this car, I'm going to want an insurance policy. I'm currently 20 years old, and I'm very much aware that insurance policies are MUCH more expensive for young male drivers as opposed to young female drivers . Thus, I ask, is the gender the insurance company uses linked to my driver's license or some other form of ID (as I really can't change anything else, save my passport on a temporary basis yet). If I got the marker changed, would my quote decrease (I would probably go with USAA as I'm eligible given my dad is a Navy Vet)? Thanks!""

Car insurance for husband and wife.?
Recently I went to insure my daughter and her car in the company me and my wife have been insured for some time. I wanted to include myself in her insurance but it went up in premiums a lot and we decided to insure her without me as an additional driver. Before that (last year to be exact) I insured my wife and I was included as a second driver. Basically, I was advised to do so on the basis that it would be cheaper. I heard about this option before and therefore did not check it properly with this company. This time (with my daughter) this option went an opposite way with higher premiums, so I asked them whether I can exclude myself from my wife's insurance as well because my insurance allows me to drive any car, but was told: ...because you are husband and wife, by law you cannot drive her car without being included in her insurance policy whatsoever... I am suspicious about this statement now and feel that I am being cheated. Does anybody know whether this rule exist or is it just the usual salesmen lie? Thank you.""

What do you know about car insurance / car-totaled?
What is the law? You have a car; it is rated @ $3,800.00 book value. Another driver hits you in the rear at a Pa. borough crosswalk as you are traveling through and have stopped for a person crossing the street. You are nearly pushed into the pedestrian, but thankfully you were able to stop your car in time. The other driver is in the wrong of course; but how much does the offending driver's insurance company need to pay to fix your car? I'm having a problem - my estimate is $3,277.00. I am told to look for the car to be totaled and 80% of the book value is what the insurance company is required to pay. Does anyone know is this is true? This car is a 1999 but only has 58,000 miles on it and is in mint condition. I have owned it for 4 years and during that time have not put a penny in it for parts & repairs. To get another, I would take a great chance on getting one which is not nearly such good quality. I'm wondering if the insurance company has a maximum that they will pay for repairing - if so maybe I could add a little to it so I can keep this car? Didn't appreciate it so much until after the accident!!!!""

How to get proof of financial responsibility?
I'm 21 a year old university student from California and I am graduating soon. I have always put off getting a license before college and once it started, I have been busy but because I want to get a job after graduating I really need my license pronto! My parents back home already taught me how to drive but I'm signing up for a driving school in my area just to practice and get the local roads down. I made an appointment for behind the wheel test next week and one of the things I need to bring is proof of financial responsibility. I know it's not insurance because I need a license to get that so how do I get it? I'm also probably going to borrow my friend's car for the test.""
How does car insurance really work?
I've been driving for 6 years now, and carry car insurance. One thing about it that doesn't really make sense to me is this : If I get hit by someone without car insurance, my insurance won't pay. Why is that? They will pay if it's my fault, but if it's not my fault, they won't. That doesn't make any sense to me. I'm paying to cover my car, so it shouldn't matter what insurance the other car has. Someone please explain this to me.""

What happens if your auto insurance gets canceled because you couldn't make the payment?
I have Esurance and I live in Florida where it is required to have car insurance. The policy is for 2 cars (mine & my husbands) and I can't afford the payment of $460 right now, which is due on the 13th, otherwise, they will cancel my policy. They can't give me any extensions. What happens if the policy gets canceled? How hard is it to reactivate it again? Is it harmful go have a lapse in coverage for a week or two (hoping of course that there are no accidents during this time). Both cars are financed and the finance companies require insurance as well... How bad will this screw me up? Has this happened to anyone? What did you do? Question about Car insurance (UK)?
Does anyone know if / how mileage for year is calculated for insurance purposes. What do the insurers check for these details? I have a private policy for my second car (my non work runaround) and it is limited to 3000miles per year. Perfect for trips to the dump, bulky or messy trips to the shops etc. I lend the car to my partners foreign parents who use their own insurance policy (cheaper for them) to drive it during their vacations to the UK 2-3 times a year adding quite a bit of mileage to the vehicle. If we both have insurance to be driving my car, am I at fault for claiming low mileage allowance for cheaper insurance for the car?""

Are there any schools out there that offer their teachers affordable family insurance?
My husband is a full-time teacher. I work part-time and am a grad. student. He has great insurance for himself, but I have to pay for my own separately. To add me to his plan would cost us $650.00 a month (adding 1 to 9 people is one lump sum, $650). I can barely afford what I pay on my own ($160+) and then there's the deductible... (basically my insurance doesn't end up paying for anything... it all comes out of my pocket). I guess I just always assumed that if a person had a good full-time job that family insurance would be included or affordable... It's not even an option. Seriously, who can afford $650 a month and on a teacher's salary? Is there any school out there that has a better insurance plan? We love where we are, but we can't afford to live. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?""
Problem with my car insurance company?
Just before new year, sitting stationary at a roundabout, old guy bashed into back of me. Exchanged details and went through the insurance. Nearly 4 months on...and my insurance company is still chasing liability. Meanwhile, my premium was due for renewal at end of Jan and that has gone up and my insurance company tell me they have problems with the other insurers as they don't answer their phones. They tell me they're sending out letters every 2 weeks and are trying to phone them. I don't think this is enough, especially after all this time. Basically, I'm being held over a barrel. I'll bet the old guy has got his car fixed now, but meanwhile even though I've done nothing wrong, I'm paying out more money and still have rear damage to my car!! I'm getting really sick of it, especially as I need to sell the car soon. It's completely ridiculous. Please wait for rest....""

What are legal steps to resolving an auto insurance claim?
Allstate was supposed to compensate me for X amount of damage done to my car by the driver who had insurance upto 5 grand. Notice that I did not have insurance with AllState but that because the driver was at fault, and had coverage of upto $5000, AllState has agreed to pay me a portion of that 5 grand. However, the problem is the driver who was at fault is not agreeing to this and demands more in loss from AllState. Whereas, although, I myself deserve more in damage since the car was worth more than the amount I am being compenstated for, I have still decided to settle for less. Now because the driver is delaying the decision to accept the remaining amount out of 5 grand, this case/claim has not resolved SINCE 2010. They wouldn't send me check yet only because the driver needs to accept the offer also. My theory is that whether or not the driver finds the offer fair, is none of my problem. I shouldn't have to wait for 2 years only because the driver refuses their offer. I should get my share at least. Do I have a legal case against the company for taking too long in this regards ? What can I do to resolve this ?""

Worries about insurance with a tracker?
Being a 19 year old male who lives in London, insurance was clearly going to be a problem. I have however found some decent quotes which include having a tracker fitted. Now, I don't mind it too much but I do have some worries: a) The location/address: on the quote, I provided a relative's address which is outside of London (the address is about 40 to 50 minutes away from my actual address). Consequently, the price was cut by about half! The worry I have is that if I have a tracker installed, won't it be obvious to the insurer that this isn't my real home address when they see me parking and basically using my actual address instead of the relatives'? I won't be anywhere near the relative's address b) Speed limits: I once read somewhere that '90%+ people go over the speed limit' and although I don't know how true this is, it's clear from driving that in some areas, going at 30 causes delays and its a bit daunting when you're at the limit but everyone else is just speeding past. How much would this change the insurance? c) Price: is the price of the quote they provide the limit? What I mean is if they see bad driving with the tracker, could it increase the quote or is there a limit? Thanks for any help :) P.S Happy new year!""

Car wreck and insurance?
Today I was in car wreck. I was in a parking lot going straight and the other driver turned left in to my car. She has dented the whole left side of my car. I called the police but because it was in a parking lot they could not do much. An officer showed up because she refused to give me her proof insurance. The officer said she was clearly at fault but could not cite her because of the private property thing. My question is does anyone know or have any idea how this will play out with her insurance? My car has a lot of damage and i'm in a lot of pain. I won't be able to go to the doctor/hospital until tomorrow because I won't have the money for a co-pay until then. The officer was very nice, he sided with me put all the blame on her, she claimed it was an accident when she clearly just didn't stop before making a left into my car, I thought she was going to stop and I tried to avoid her but she was going to fast. We both have insurance and we're in Arizona if that helps. If you have any advice for insurance or anything it would be much appreciated, thank you for your time""

Will I have to switch my car insurance if I buy a new or used car from a dealer?
My current car is just costing far too much money in repairs for it to be worth it to keep piling money into. I'm a college student, so money isn't exactly plentiful, but its looking right now like I just need a new car, period. I have a decent job, and I could probably afford a car payment of around $200 a month just fine, however I am very concerned about any hidden cost with insurance. My dad told me that if I buy a car from a dealer, then I will have to switch my insurance to full coverage (I'm currently just on my dads insurance, and I only have to pay about $50 a month) but he says that if I get a new or used car from a dealer, I will have to change my insurance coverage and it will cost me more around 150-200 a month in insurance. And if you pair that with a car payment, I simply couldn't afford it and still be able to make rent and whatnot. So I came here to see if he is correct in this. I know there will be taxes, dealer fees, registration costs etc. but Its the insurance part of it that might make it impossible. Also, do I have to have my credit established for a certain amount of time before I can buy a car? I tried to avoid credit cards for as long as I could, so now Im still kind of new in the whole credit game.... Anyways, thank you for taking the time to read my question and hopefully answer it!! It is much appreciated!!""

How can you add an illegal alien to your car insurance? Where?
I have a girlfriend who happens to be an illegal alien. I am a legal U.S. citizen living in California. What is a car insurance raise depend on? ?
Hello, I come here because everyone I ask just tells me not to worry about it and I JUST WANT TO KNOW! Sorry if this is way too long. I don't want to miss anything. Anyways, I got into a minor accident recently. When I say minor, I mean minor. I bumped them at a red light because I scooted up without looking. Didn't even touch the gas. This is my first accident. I'm twenty years old. When I went to look at our cars my car was a little scuffed, nothing that a little buffing couldn't take off. Their car, was even less. One of the passengers (there were 5 adults total, two children sitting on laps) claimed his back hurt. I was in panic mode as the driver told me that we could handle this without contacting insurance. Later I came to my senses when I realized that this guy with the back injuries was going to keep coming back to me asking for more money, so I told them to call my insurance agency. My question is, does anyone know in the state of Florida what determines how much your car insurance goes up? His injuries (not positive but almost positive) are not bad enough to go into my bodily injury. His PIP should cover it. For example, will your insurance go up based on the damages you have to pay for ? Since I made very VERY minimal damage, will my insurance only go up a little ? Thanks for reading my giant ramble and thanks for responses. Sara""

My First Speeding ticket as a minor! Will my insurance go up?
Last night I was coming home from a concert in Cleveland Ohio. Stupidly I wasn't paying attention to my speed and got pulled over for a 76 in a 60. 16 Mph over. Knowing my parents would take my car away for who knows how long my brother has agreed to help me pay the ticket. So with the ticket taken care of, that leave the possibility of my insurance going up who knows how much. I have State Farm and am on my parents plan. I will be receiving 2 points from this ticket. If anyone has a general idea about the possibility of my insurance going up at all. - I have done previous reading and can't get a straight forward find. Im hoping it wont affect my insurance premium or whatever and I can be in the free!! thanks alot in advance""
How likely is it that my car insurance will go up due to this?
Haven't had a claim in over ten years Haven't gotten a ticket in probably 5 years. But, the neighbor kid did $2K worth of damage to my car with his bike in three separate incidents. Basically, half of it will have to be repainted! I'd really, really rather not go to court. His insurance is NOT an option in this case. He doesn't have $2,000 laying around. IF I go the much easier route of getting him to pay at least my deductible, how likely is State Farm to raise my rates with a, after deductible, claim of about $1500 or so? Any relevant advice/comment is appreciated.""

How much homeowner insurance should I buy?
In other words, how much does it really cost to rebuild this house? My homeowner insurance company insures the dwelling for X, and another company suggests I insure it for 76% of X. So who is right and how do I find out? Another important question -- do most people try to get 100% coverage in case the house is vaporized, or do smart people go for, say, 75% coverage because the entire house probably won't be destroyed? Advice, please.""

I'm 16 and I just received my license. My older brother gave me his car when he moved to L.A (he'll be driving a company car). The only problem is getting insurance. Do not make the work environment hostile
If you are a superior in the workplace, please do not make your frustrations and emotions come out to your employees. You will stress them out and make the workplace hostile. This is a situation myself and my peers are going thru right now.
I teach an undergraduate chemistry lab in a university and the college recently just added a new safety position to oversee prep and night labs. This person has treated us with nothing but disrespect and frustration. I understand they do not want a bunch of 20 something year olds running around and teaching. It is not ideal for many people. I have done this job for 2 years before this person was added to the teaching team. They just complain or make things uncomfortable for the undergrads, especially the ones whom teach.
For example, we have a long pants and closed toe shoe policy for obvious reasons. They complain if the socks are not tall enough and yell at the ones who teach. I get you are doing your job but, you are being obnoxious. I have taken labs that are worse in regards to the chemicals we use and I have never once been yelled at for my attire.
The other night we were using a new software to run the uv/vis specs and I was handed a packet and told to just follow it. So we did that with the students and when we went to save the data we had issues because we didn't follow that portion to a T. So, I asked for help, as I would normally do, and she was a bitch to me the entire time. She then posted a petty comment about it in the groupme( an online chat system we use to communicate across the entire teaching team). I don't get why she cannot help us and just do her job.
Another time I was prepping a dye to be used and was only verbally given instructions. So I went to confirm the dye compound so I did not mess it up. I was met with a huff and had the compound name mumbled to me. I was not handed the name written down so I could triple check that I added the right dye to the buffer because buffer is expensive and we had minimal amounts of it. I ended up using the wrong red dye and was met with just an abundance of grief. I tried to make it correctly and was given unnecessary anger.
The last straw happened the other night. My prep partner had emailed another prof about the participation of students grades and did not email the prof in mention. She asked this prof how to better deal with participation and was only given a tone of voice that you could tell they did not want to deal with her. So we get our instructions and make synthetic urine. We made 16 L of it and my partner took the solutions out of the volumetric flask and put it into the bottles for storage. She had just emptied the flask into the container and tipped the flask back and the stir bar hit in just the right way that it flew out of the flask and broke it. Then she extra extra careful so it did not happen again. It happened a second time. The physics of this do not make sense. I tried saying lets just not tell her and or let me take the blame and she said no let me just tell them. So I let her. When we went to tell them we were told in a voice of held back screaming and 0 eye contact of "have a nice night". We tried to explain what happened and we told the same thing. We left and on our way out we just fell to the ground and were stressed and started crying.
We do not deserve to be met with such hostility. We should be met with understanding and explanation as to what should be done next time, not this abundance of unprofessionality. I just don't get why we are not treated better. I got to the point where I have emailed the other professors and I am contemplating on quitting as I cannot and will not stand to be treated with such disrespect in the workplace when I have not done anything wrong. I have less than 7 weeks until I graduate and I would like to enjoy my last moments on this beautiful campus and not be afraid to walk into my favorite building, the place I feel most at home in, in this massive place. I just need someone to tell me I am in the right and do not deserve this.
Moral of the story: DON'T BE A DICK!

How to Be Safe on Internet?
New Post has been published on https://darbi.org/how-to-be-safe-on-internet/
How to Be Safe on Internet?
Before getting into the technical stuff, I would first like to introduce what basically the internet is. The Internet is just a network, a huge network of devices which all are somehow connected to each other. These devices include web servers, file servers, Personal computers and many other things. We will keep our focus on PCs in this text. All These are connected through cables or satellite.
Now, we know that when things are connected, data sharing is possible. That’s the solo job on an internet. Data is being transferred from one place to another all the time. Now, we come to the dark side of data transferred. The problem here is this that there is so much data that every bit of data can not be checked what this is and where it is going. Who is accessing this? Whether he is the right person to have this data or not. Unfortunately, we don’t have any effective method to check this. I believe some day we would have some way to control this and restrict malicious people to access data they are not supposed to access.
I am now listing all the possible negative consequences of the internet then I would try to explain them and share possible solutions.
1. Hacking 2. Cyber crimes. 3. Loss of privacy. 4. Data Corruption. 5. Adult material (not suitable for children). 6. Forbidden Knowledge. 7. Plagiarism. 8. Time wastage. 9. Health Hazards.
Hacking:
Many of us, in fact, I think everyone of us is aware of this term and knows what this means. It is unauthorized access to anything. Today, in the entire world, hacking has victimized many ordinary people, companies and even computer firms. This is something which can be done any level. As there is a saying, “if you can make it, then you can break it”.
Today, billions of people have accounts on many free email sites, social networking sites and others and tons of them have lost their accounts with some important personal data inside. For those who have experienced this thing know how scary this is, and those who have not, believe me, it can be your worst nightmare.
Now, coming to the technical side. There are a number of types of hacking. We will only concentrate ourselves to internet hacking which involves ordinary people. What has an ordinary person on the internet? Two things: Email accounts and social networking sites profiles. He has most personal data in these two places and that’s where his privacy becomes vulnerable. If he, unfortunately, has some acquaintance who is not a good person and possesses sound knowledge of internet, then that person might face consequences somewhere in future.
Hackers use the number of ways to get access to the victim’s data. On the internet, “social engineering” is the easiest and an effective way to do so. Hackers develop the relationship with the victims and then exploit it. One way is that they send the email which has some link to another website. When you open the link, it asks the user to enter the username and password and when they do so, it goes to hacker and the user some kind of error message. The irony of the situation is that the victim would never get to know that has just happened to him. This is called “Phishing”. Only people having god knowledge of programming can do this.
One can get away from such trick if he gets a little careful and does not open emails from unknown people and do not enter any passwords when asked if he has come to that website from an indirect link.
Another way is that they install a software which keeps on making a log of whatever activity is being done on a computer with all the data entered and on which website that data is entered. So, this can also happen if you are using a university, school, workplace or public computer.
So, always keep that thing in your mind that where you are sitting and what information are you trying to access. Avoid as much as you can to use your personal accounts from public computers because you never know who is watching you.
Instant messengers can also be used to get the wok done. Hackers can send you some link which may cause loss of your email account.
Do not follow any irrelevant looking links even if someone really close to you has sent that because you do not know who is using that account. Hacker does use people’s accounts to get access to their friends.
Your secret questions can also sometimes lead to your destruction. Many people do not recognize the importance of the secret question and they just write things which are really obvious to their friends and people around them.
Therefore, never ever use something predictable as your security question because if some friend, colleague or acquaintance gets to correctly guess it, he is in your account. And this goes for passwords as well. Try to make passwords complex and difficult to guess. Many people use their birth dates, cell phone numbers, and some obvious words like “password” as their password. This makes hackers workpiece of cake. So, for your own sake, don’t do that.
Cyber crimes:
Cyber crime is a vast term and includes a lot of things in it. It basically means all those crimes which are done using computer and the internet. Most of the times, it is used to refer to credit card frauds, threatening someone, denial of service attacks and spreading of malicious codes.
Some people use your information and credit card to do the shopping over the internet (e-shopping). Most of the times, you are unaware of that and only get to know when you get the monthly bill of credit card or something like that. It was very common some years ago but it does not mean that it has been eliminated. it happens today as well but have become quite rare.
You can easily avoid such things by taking care of some things. Most of the time, Hackers gather your information from your dustbin or garbage. I am serious about this. Many people do not realize the importance of the receipts or documents you get from the bank and without destroying them, throw in their dustbins. These documents have got many sensitive things on them and if anyone gets them, he gets one step closer to hack your credit card. So, don’t throw just throw away such things without destroying them and do not share such sensitive information even with closest of your friends.
Then comes threatening someone. As you may have realized by now that if you get some personal information of someone, you can black mail them. There is hardly any cure for this because in internet world, it is rarely possible to trace the person broke in your system. So, you can only prevent someone from getting into your personal life but once someone has fooled you then there is little hope.
Then comes spreading of malicious code. Malicious code are the program codes which are intentionally written to do bad things. There are unlimited such codes on internet today and you can become their victim any time while browsing internet. They may be potentially harmful and trigger non desirable actions.
To prevent from such things, keep updating your operating system, install anti virus and keep updating it too. Moreover, do not surf websites which are irrelevant and if you get some message from firewall, anti virus or web browser, do not ignore. Read it carefully and if it says things like malware risk or this site may effect your computer, do NOT open those websites. Same goes for the email attachments.
Loss of privacy:
Privacy is main concern of people today. There are so many social networking websites which exploit your privacy and you cant do much about that. I don’t want to take any names but still there are websites which keep your information even after you delete your account and another thing which surprised me was that a leading social networking site had an agreement with a search engine and they took it to such an extent that if some body searches for someone else on even that search engine, he would get results of the other person’s social networking site’s profile. It is totally made public and irony of the situation is that this is being done whit out your permission.
Solution to that is, that you read the agreement which you have to agree before making any account or profile on internet. If there is something which you think would not be suitable for you, don’t go for it. And if you really need to make account, at least keep that thing in your mind and take care of that in future.
Adult material:
I don’t think that any internet user is unaware of the fact that how much on internet, we are surrounded by porn sites. One click can take you any where. This might not be a big deal for university of college students but this really is a concern for parents having small children. They are worried about them all the time regarding this matter.
Many people restrict their kids to use internet which definitely hinders their education process because today internet is the greatest medium of information and if one does not use it, he is left behind.
So, there are many solutions to these problem which would let kids grow educationally and would not lead them to adult material. One simple solution is to keep an eye on kids when ever they are using the internet and if you don’t have enough time or due to some reason, you can not do that, there are plenty of software which restrict access of such websites. If you want to have some, try the key word “Parental control software” on some search engine. It will give you some useful results. Then with a little study, you can implement those software.
Another way is to install “Key logger” on the computer. It keeps on making the log of the visited websites. You can check that to get to know which websites were surfed. This thing can also be known if your kid is not smart enough to delete the history of web browser.
Forbidden Knowledge:
On internet, information regarding everything is present. Knowledge of everything is not good. One can easily find virus codes and then give them software form. Like wise there are many books which explain how to make bombs, secretly kill people, annoy neighbors, grow marijuana or weed etc.
Kids can read such interesting stuff and start implementing them. Unfortunately, there is no short cut to monitor them in this case. You yourself have to keep an eye on them.
Plagiarism and material for free:
One of the major concerns regarding internet is plagiarism. Many people’s work is being stolen or copied and used in one way or the other. Many people share their unique ideas on blogs or on any other interactive sites just to get some feed back from other and before they know it, their ideas are stolen and some times even implemented. Unfortunately, there is seldom any justice provided. Therefore, be careful before posting anything on internet. Don’t share your research or unique ideas unless you have copy rights on them.
Another draw back of internet is that almost everything here is for free. That’s really cool for users but very much painful for the producers of those material. We know that today we can find and download almost every book, movie, songs album and software for free on internet. This actually causes loss to the people who are selling these things. And it is really hard to ban anything which is being provided for free, on internet. So, be ethical and try to abstain from such activities.
Time wastage and health hazards:
Internet is an entire world in itself. There are a lot of activities one can do here and one life is not enough to explore it. Moreover, this is so much interesting that it consumes time like a jet consumes petrol. I mean to say that people who use internet, most of the times get addicted to it and this becomes like oxygen to them. So, don’t let the internet be dangerous to you. Define some limits and try to stay in them.

How to Be Safe on Internet?

How to Be Safe on Internet?
Before getting into the technical stuff, I would first like to introduce what basically the internet is. The Internet is just a network, a huge network of devices which all are somehow connected to each other. These devices include web servers, file servers, Personal computers and many other things. We will keep our focus on PCs in this text. All These are connected through cables or satellite.
Now, we know that when things are connected, data sharing is possible. That’s the solo job on the internet.
Hacking:
Many of us, in fact, I think every one of us is aware of this term and knows what this means. It is unauthorized access to anything. Today, in the entire world, hacking has victimized many ordinary people, companies and even computer firms. This is something which can be done any level. As there is a saying, “if you can make it, then you can break it”.
Today, billions of people have accounts on many free email sites, social networking sites and others and tons of them have lost their accounts with some important personal data in a side.
It basically means all those crimes which are done using a computer and the internet.
These documents have got many sensitive things on them and if any one gets them, he gets one step closer to hack your credit card. So, don’t throw just throw away such things without destroying them and do not share such sensitive information even with closest of your friends.
Then comes threatening someone. As you may have realized by now that if you get some personal information about someone, you can blackmail them. There is hardly any cure for this because, in an internet world, it is rarely possible to trace the person broke in your system. So, you can only prevent someone from getting into your personal life but once someone has fooled you then there is little hope.
Then comes spreading of malicious code. Malicious code is the program codes which are intentionally written to do bad things. There are unlimited such codes on the internet today and you can become their victim any time while browsing the internet. They may be potentially harmful and trigger nondesirable actions.
To prevent from such things, keep updating your operating system, install anti-virus and keep updating it too. Moreover, do not surf websites which are irrelevant and if you get some message from a firewall, anti-virus or web browser, do not ignore. Read it carefully and if it says things like malware risk or this site may effect your computer, do NOT open those websites. Same goes for the email attachments.
Loss of privacy:
Privacy is a main concern of people today.
One simple solution is to keep an eye on kids when ever they are using internet and if you don’t have enough time or due to some reason, you can not do that, there are plenty of software which restrict access of such websites.

It Takes a Village? | by IV, V and Me
Guest Post by IV, V and Me
“It Takes a Village”
