Fundies with a Name Theme

It’s no secret that I get a kick out of baby name themes. In general, I think having a “theme” is kind of stupid, but I respect the folks who commit to one, even if they have a dozen kids and have to get super creative.

Keep reading for a list of all the fundies I know of with a distinct name theme, some of the best/worst names to come out of those themes, and my general thoughts. 

Jim Bob + Michelle. The OGs with their single-letter theme, they gave us such ridiculous name choices as Jinger, Jordyn-Grace, Jana and Joy-Anna and Johannah, and Joseph and Josiah and Josie. And who could forget the twins Jeremiah Robert and Jedidiah Robert? The Duggars are icons in the world of bad baby names.

Josh + Anna. Remember when we (or maybe just Anna and I) thought all the Duggar kids would do a letter theme? The Ms are a nice way to suck up to honor Michelle. I’m weirdly partial to the Ms because my name is Meredith and I once had a friend who called me “Dithy.” However, Anna loses points for her unnecessary Ys in the girls’ names (except Meredith, who could have easily been Meredyth or Merydith) and for the abomination that is Maryella. Mary Ella, Mary-Ella, MaryElla would all have been preferable. Also, I am STILL in shock that she used the name Madyson. 

Jessa + Ben. For boys, they’re using names of theologians and Church leaders. For girls, they’re using plants. Spurgeon remains the Worst Ever Baby Name, and I hate that they paired it with Elliott, one of my favorite names. I’m at a loss for what name they’ll use for future boys. For future girls, I can see Laurel, Rose, Clementine, or Clover. (Think more old-timey than Josie’s name choices.)

Josiah + Lauren. The ABC theme. Honestly, this one makes me a little uneasy to speculate on because it makes it so obvious if/when they lose a pregnancy. If we ever learn the name of Lauren’s secret baby, and it’s a D name, then we know she had another loss. The whole thing just makes me a little bit sad, especially when they’ve gone to such great lengths to stay private. 

Alyssa + John. Ok, this isn’t exactly a “theme,” but it’s a really obvious trend. All her girls have a two syllable first name and single syllable middle. The first names are usually kind of nickname-y, something cutesy that sounds great on a toddler but maybe not so much on a grown adult. If she has any more girls, I can see her mix-and-matching from the following: Ellie, Lucy, Annie, Betsy, and Belle, Kate, Sue, and Lou. 

Josie + Kelton. Has Josie said whether her girls’ names were meant to be a matchy set? I’m not sure. If they want to keep up the pattern, I can see them using Rowan, Aspen, Rue, Iris, or Juniper. For boys, maybe Asher, Rowan, Sage, Forest, or Linden. 

Dwain + Lana Swanson. The girls get L names, and the boys get D names. They didn’t try to keep it biblical, so there aren’t any wackadoodle names. (Though I think Duke is a pretty bad name, personally.) I wish we know the name of Baby10 or had any confirmation about him. He just kind of appeared.

John + Esther Shrader. Their boys get biblical names (which is barely a theme because there are just so many to choose from) and the girls get Greek virtue names. For my detailed thoughts on them, see here.

Priscilla + David Waller. The Wallers have had 6 kids in a boy-girl streak, making it unclear if they’re using P for boys and D for girls, or if they just want to switch between P and D from one kid to the next. I’m SUPER curious to see where this one goes because they’ve been pretty biblical so far. (Davia is just the female form of David, and Destiny Faith is a weird predestination-plus-trusting-in-Jesus thing.) But they’re running out of “normal” names from the Bible. If they keep up the biblical names, possible future kids include: Paula, Phoebe, Penninah, Phineas, Philemon, Persis, Daniel, Darius, Demetrius, Dinah, Dorcas, Drusilla. 

Nathan + Nurie. I’ve written before about my thoughts on this theme, including totally not serious predictions. 

Josiah + Abi Wissmann. They’ve done something similar to Priscilla + David, using the parents’ initials as a theme. Their kids are Joanna, Asher, Jennifer, and Andron. It’s unclear if they are doing a boy-girl thing or just alternating from child to child. 

Chris + Courtney Rogers. I keep forgetting about them. I’m gonna be honest--I hate the name they’ve picked. The single syllable boys names drive me nuts. Clint, Case, Colt, Cash--they feel like dog names, not people names. As for the girls names, they’re... meh. Cambria is delightfully weird, but the rest aren’t good enough for me to like or awful enough for me to be entertained by.

Nathan + Melanie Maxwell. With the exception of their late firstborn daughter, they’ve been doing an alphabetical theme... with a twist. They restarted the alphabet for the boys. Abigail, Bethany, Christina, Andrew, Benjamin, Deborah. As far as sibsets go, I like it! It’s biblical but not “out there,” not super matchy, but still orderly. 

Carson + Carolina Bontrager. Jubilee and Jemima--what weird choices. The Bowers-Bontrager couples delight me with their double wedding, their kids born so close together, their parallel name themes. I’m really curious what other names they’ll choose.

Joshua + Cassidy Bontrager. Wallace and Winston, not as weird as Jubilee and Jemima. These Bowers-Bontragers just tickle the part of my brain that likes patterns.

Curtis + Lauren Bowers. Much like the Rogers family, all their kids’ names begin with C. It’s led to some interesting choices, like Crockett and Crosby.

((Also Karissa Collins, but I'm too exhausted to talk about her. Plus, I think it was Jen of Fundie Fridays who said is feels like "kicking down?" Her baby name choices are awful, but she has much, much bigger issues going on.))

POSSIBLE, UNCONFIRMED THEMES

Jill + Derick. They haven’t outright SAID they’re using an “el” theme, but I hope they do. I see them trying for a girl after Baby 3 is born. Israel, Samuel, Gabriel, and Selah. (As for the theory that they’re trying to spell ISRAEL with the initials, I don’t buy it. I think “River Bliss” was the sort of name that they chose for catharsis dealing with loss, like Jinger and Halleli Grace, or even Michelle and Jubilee Shalom. It’s a name with significance, but not a name that I think Jill would have used on a child earthside.)

Joseph + Kendra. The double letters! Is it coincidence? Is it intentional? Who knows! If they keep it up, some possible names include Everett, Bennett, Emma, Charlotte, and Beckett. 

NAMES THAT WOULD BE THEMES IF THEY DIDN’T MESS IT UP

Paul + Christina Caldwell. They were ALMOST doing an alphabetical theme. Kendra, Lauren, Micah, Nathan. Then Timothy ruins it, but they switch back to Olivia. Jesiah, Isaiah, and Moriah are so different from the other names (which could all pass as secular, even if they aren’t), I have no idea what they were thinking. Before Moriah, their girls all had non-biblical, popular names. What is with these choices?????

Daniel Beasley + Bethany Wissmann. Up until Felicity, they had a thing going where they went alphabetically, skipping a letter each time. Arianna, Caden, Everett, Gemma. I thought there was a pattern. And then Felicity happened.

Dwangela

When I watched the office I expect myself to fall in love with Pam/Jim dynamic but I fell in love with Dwight/ Angela dynamic.

I don’t know it’s just something in their chemistry, the slow-burn, the angst and the frustration made me root for them till the end. Kudos to Rainn Wilson and Angela Kinsey for playing them so well. I mean Angela is the complete opposite of Angela( if you listen to podcast of her and Jenna and interviews). With Rainn, he gives a bit of Dwight vibes but still different from him. Overall, Dwight and Angela is so different and the same time fits so well together. They are both miserable without each other but wouldn’t admit it. I am also a sucker for smol-tol couples. I mean Angela’s height barely reach Dwight’s shoulder and that’s with shoes.

Season 2- I presume that’s when their relationship starts? I love their little long glances here and there. And the sexual tension🔥kudos to Rainn and Angela for playing it so well. I really love the moment where Angela gave the bobble head to Dwight and you could see the genuine bliss from his face, and him asking Pam for gifts ideas is just so adorable. I love from here on you could see that Dwight is such an odd character with weird personalities but he treat Angela like a gentleman, respects her and clearly adore her. I also love how Angela is so supportive of her boyfriend especially the episode where Dwight was the best sales man.

Season 3- This season we get to see more of their relationship. I personally love the Christmas episode where Dwight was comforting Angela after the day she had: that little handholding again proves that Dwight is a loving and supportive boyfriend and also we got to hear their nickname to each other. I love how Dwight called her monkey and how Angela called him D so affectionately. I have a little theory of where the nickname derived from; maybe it’s like a code name for each other cause in a deleted scene in the episode where they go meet Jim in the convention, Dwight was calling Angela in front of Michael; and he was using her nickname. Or maybe when she was staying over, there was a high shelf that she could not reach so she climbed around since she did not want to ask for help, and Dwight was witnessing it quietly, thus decided to call her that. Of course, at first Angela would not agree to be call an animal but secretly she likes it because it’s their little secret. Then the convict episode, they decided to sit together as most of the episode prior to this episode you never seen them sitting together just glances here and there. I also liked Dwight’s iconic smirk, that lil smirk they he puts whenever it involves his lady friend. There are so many more that I love.

Season 4&5- for me these 2 season is filled with angst and made me feel sorry for Dwight. The first episode of season 4 started well with their secret gate away place with Angela asking Dwight to take care of sprinkles but Dwight has to mercy kill sprinkles: it’s cruel and inhuman, I understand and feel sad for Angela, it’s one of her first cat that she adopted and it meant a lot to her. She thought Dwight would understand but he went and kill her cat and the part where he wanted to compensate her with garbage; that was so cute but was hoping Dwight would understand that no cat will fill sprinkles gap but still the image of Dwight and the cat; just cute. I think they would gotten back together much faster if they communicate sooner. My heart breaks for both of them but my heart breaks more when Angela started to date Andy. Personally, they are the weirdest couple combination(even worse than jan/ Michael). Dwight proving that he could win against the computer is so Dwight if winning back your lady friend; and Angela not having any of it makes my heart ache for Dwight. And the part where Angela agrees on going out with him:( I just feel like Rainn did such a good job portraying. I feel like the whole season 4 is the phase where Dwight tried to move on but fail( again foreshadowing that they belong together). But they eventually got back together I guess during the episode where nobody was in the office except them. Again their sexual tension filled up the whole office and you can literally feel it( foreshadowing that they are going to get it on in the finale of season 4(?)) in season 5 we open with them getting it on in the warehouse( indication been going on since the summer). Now Cheating is bad and immoral, it would be better that would have communicate, and again I think it’s both their fault. I think Dwight was desperate in any means to be together with Angela because of how he loves her. His love for her burns with a passion so much that he would do anything just to be with her. And I feel like Angela was just meh just contemplating if she wants to take the risk( of being with the one she loves) or some one more safe and stable( Andy). She’s conflicted and at the same time has a lot of pride. Personally, at this point I hated how she handled the situation leading them on. During the duel episode I am kinda glad they both left her. I think at that point she realised how she should have thought it through with the men in her life; being greedy and holding on will make you lose both of them. And I guess they didn’t talk for the rest of the season after that. But we didn’t see Angela’s side of the relationship but it was disclosed in the deleted scenes with the volleyball episode where Dwight defended her; you can see that she has remorse and regret with what she did; clearly she still has feelings for him.

Season 6&7- with season 6, Dwight’s love for Angela is still there but this time he is more guarded and not as reckless as season 4-5 because this woman that he loves hurt him and he’s not sure if he’s willing to go through it again. The episode where he wanted a baby; he asked Angela of all the people indicate that he still thinks highly of her. Of course with how their dynamic is, they have a Contract to go with it; and Angela was hoping that Dwight would fall in love with her again in the baby making process. And Dwight got reluctant as they got through the baby making process. He feel more guarded and reluctant but Angela refused to let it go( her way of wanting to get back in any means(?)) so she found a loophole in the contract and wanted them to procreate for 5 more times expecting Dwight to fall in love with her again. Of course that didn’t work because Dwight seem uninterested to get back to her; so eventually she tries to move on with the senator. I think Dwight wanted to be more alert and not throw himself to love unguarded and with passion. I understand that from what he experienced he wanted to love more cautiously.

Season 8-season 8( we are nearly there), Angela is engaged to the senator. Still she cheated the senator with Dwight. Again they always seem to finds way to get back in any means. Again, Dwight is willing to let this affair happen because he still loves her but not like how he used to love her but regardless still love her so he decided to sleep with her. When Philip was born, you can see the elation in Dwight’s face and how he is certain the boy is his and how he still believed till the end of the season. I don’t understand why Angela still wanted kept the truth from him ( maybe to stretch out their relationship( writers idea?)) maybe of her pride and that she did not want to be an embarrassment?

Season 9- the season starts with the paternity test being negative dun dun dun. But I am still convince that Philip is his( as a Viewer anyway). And we get to the episode where the senator is revealed as being gay and Oscar is cheating with the senator. I love how the first person she seeks is Dwight and how Dwight misunderstand the situation😂. He still wants to help her despite everything, and comforted her. The end part of the episode just sends me when they ask tony about homosexuals. I think at this point you can see their relationship continues to heal and reconcile by means of being a proper friendship. I personally love it when during the Christmas episode, Dwight decided to just whip Oscar dying the bershnike part and he did a little glance to Angela . In 9x16, when they were both taking care of his aunt; I guess that is the only time we get to see glimpses on how Angela was when he was dating him( when she was staying over in the farm). And we could see Dwight’s love for her rekindle more; and with the timing and everything with the senator he jumped the opportunity by kissing her and declare that he wanted her back in her life, how they were meant together( that was the sweetest part). Interestingly the slaughter house turns them on😂. I love at this point Dwight put everything on the table and lay out his love for her, but as stubborn and prideful Angela is, she rejected him( i want to make more in-depth writing in this with the what ifs if Angela does swallow her pride and decided to get back to him). And we get to the few episode where Angela’s life when downhill when the senator reveal himself and also apparently cheated on Oscar; it takes a crisis in her life to become a better person like appreciating things around her, the thing she lost( I.e Dwight). I really love the part where Oscar and Angela supported each other, and the hand holding is just shows their evolved friendship. I also love the part where Angela pour her heart out infornt of Oscar. I think the Esther and Dwight dynamic; is a way that Dwight wanting to move on but can’t( with Esther being perfect on paper). Lastly the episode where Philip was in( he’s so cute and he’s look just like Dwight), the inner dilemma that he faces to propose to esther; and the speech that Jim gave to Dwight is just shows even they are frenemies they still have the utmost respect between them. The proposal scene is one of my fav scene in season 9. It’s just so them( I mean even with their last season ended with a car chase) it’s just so dramatic and them. I can imagine what Philip and their other kids would have to face with their parents. That was my finally moment, where I was like finally they admit their feelings🥺. I was literally cheering and screaming. I love the pure elation with Dwight’s face when Angela Said I love you; I always liked the little smile and the smiles where she’s around Dwight. She so beautiful when she smiles. The part with Philip is so I just was so happy. In the finale, the wedding is just so then weird but perfect. I wish they include the part where Dwight made Oscar the godfather.

Overall, I just love them so much; they were such a rollercoaster and I am glad they lived happily ever after with Schrute babies running around. They were also one of my otp who got together after a long time( most of my OTP didn’t make it :,(). I just wished we see more of it after the proposal scene with that 1 year time skip and personally I think we would see more of their relationship if they got back together in 9x16. Really bravo to Angela and Rainn for playing them so well.

Just A Nice Moment.

Louis starts to feel weird about a certain ginger girl...But does she feels the same ? (Drabble challenge by @stop-breaking-my-heart-telltale, Day 3 : ‘You Make Me Laugh’)

Louis liked giving joy to the others.

It wasn’t new, he always did that since the apocalypse happened.

After everything went shit over the years (the adults abandoning them the first days, Ms.Martin’s death, and other kids’ deaths…) It was just unbearable. The general ambience was sinister, sad, depressing...It just felt wrong for the other kids to be happy while some of their camarades/friends passed away.

But Louis knew it wasn’t exactly true. What’s the point of always fearing an unguaranteed future ? The only moment we have for sure, is the present, the actual day. Enjoy the present as much as we can. It wasn’t about forgetting the dead, but living as much as we could, for them, was more faitful to their memory than just grieving until death arrives…

Of course, while he sure managed to light up the mood sometimes...His belief was mocked. In general, he didn’t get recognition for his acts. Instead…

« I wish your mouth would cease. »

« You get more and more stupid every day. »

« Shut. up. »

« Can you use your brain for once, instead of joking around ? »

He was insulted. Even by Marlon, in his back. But...They were his friends (Marlon was like a brother)...They don’t insult him for nothing... At some point, he thought : Maybe I deserve it.

I deserve to be insulted.

So, as much as it hurt him to listen to those insults, he never talked back with spite, he just...took it.

Out of the Ericson kids, 4 of them weren’t as much annoyed by him as were the others.

Shaun, the sheepish blonde autist. Louis was his best friend, sometimes he had troubles to dissociate a joke from a quote, sure, but he was supportive of his effort to light up the mood.

Idryssa. The co-leader with Marlon. If Marlon was like a brother for Louis, Idryssa was an elder sister. She was a music fan herself, not to the point of playing an instrument, but still. Idryssa always took care of the kids, whatever their age, whatever where they came from. She always liked some Louis’ jokes as she rested from her ‘job’.

And finally, the twins. Minerva Elenore and Sophie Marie Evergreen. The gingers from Dublin, with their adopted brother Tennessee. (well, not exactly from Dublin, they came from NYC, but their family was originally from Dublin.)

Minerva was an excellent singer, with a voice made for blues. Eventually she composed some songs with Louis (inclunding ‘Don’t Be Afraid’, when the others couldn’t sleep after the adults left.). She was nice, beautiful, and she like some Louis’ jokes. She was one of most popular girls in school, but at the end Violet, out of everyone, seemed to have won her heart (Louis was surprised by that, but not in a bad way. Minerva seemed to make Violet happy. And Louis cared a lot about Violet, so if Minerva gave Violet the happiness she always deserved, Louis would always support their couple.)

And there was Sophie.

Sophie, at first, wasn’t as popular as Minnie was. She was perceived as a ‘goody-two-shoes’, always ranting about the others’ slurs, intervening in their arguments to try and stop them...

« Can’t you just fuck off, Esther ? »

« Only when you’ll give me my stuff back ! »

Louis feared the following of this argument, since everytime Mitch and Esther get into one…

« For fuck’s sake, for the last time IT’S NOT ME !! I’m not into stealing girls’ stuff... »

Mitch smirked. « Or boys stuff, I don’t know with you... »

THIS element is mentioned.

« If I were you, I’d take back immediatly BEFORE I CRUSH YOUR SK-- » Esther dashed to Mitch.

But suddenly Sophie intervened and put herself between them, pushing Esther back.

« Can you both just STOP fighting for a day ?!  You don’t think we have enough...»

Sophie retained herself from swearing.

« Mess to deal with already ? The food, the walkers...And such ? »

Esther and Mitch looked at each other, seeming to calm down. But sadly it was an impression.

« We didn’t call for you, Goody-shoes ! »

« Mind your fucking business Soph ! »

It pained Louis to see Sophie get insulted like that, she didn’t deserve it…

Louis looked beyond her supposed ‘goody-shoes’ personality. And he discovered an artist, an excellent painter, drawer (she liked to draw portraits of some kids, including him, Shaun, Minnie and Violet...They were so living!) Her entire dorm was covered of drawings she made, when he walked into it he felt like he was transported into an other dimension, full of colors, of dreams, where he could go anywhere he wanted...It made him forget about how dark and sinister it was outside.

And he admired Sophie for that.

Sophie had the same sense of humor as him, the same taste of music, that same will of preserving the arts (well, as much as two teenagers can do in a boarding school cut out of the rest of the world by an apocalypse…) So it surprised nobody when they cracked some jokes together and giggled while dinners or card games, or when they passed days in the music room, composing and drawing together (Louis was terrible at drawing, but Sophie never minded, ‘Drawing is a matter of learning and doing’ after all).

But, as months passed, and as Louis got closer and closer with Sophie, the admiration, the friendly feelings he had for her turned into something...Different.

He sometimes surprised himself at doing nothing, just admiring her drawing some new countrylands, noticing her red freckles on her charming face, her blue-sky eyes, her long ginger hair that went to her waist…

As he tchatted with her, he had a weird feeling in his stomach, he felt more...free, happy, calm.

When she smiled, he smiled too. He liked how bright she was when she smiled. He wanted to make her happy, more than the others…

« Louis ? »

« Yes, Idryssa ? »

« I think...You have a crush on Sophie. A big one. »

Love.

If he had expected that…

Apart from supporting Violet on her crush on Minnie, the last time he dealt with love (in a way) was when...He caused his parents’ divorce.

He didn’t want to ruin his relationship with Sophie. And...If he has a crush on her...Does she return his feelings ? Does she loves him back ?

Everything in his head said no, she just sees you as a friend.

One night…

They were in the music room, Louis writing a music of his own on the music sheets.

Sophie was sat on the piano stool, close to him. She had concern in her gaze.

Usually, they tchat a lot, about anything, when they are together.

But it wasn’t the case today, Louis barely talked.

« Louis ? »

He didn’t seem to listen, still focused on his music sheets, but he looked lost, sad…

« Is...Are you allright ? »

« Yeah... » Louis finally said, with an unsure tone.

Sophie grew more and more worried.

« Louis, I’m...You can tell me everything, you know that ? »

Louis finally stopped his writing and turned his head to her, meeting her concerned gaze.

« I...I know. »

« So...What’s wrong ? »

Louis turned his head. « I... »

Sophie was definitely worried. Louis was her best friend, she cared for him, like, A LOT. Everytime he wasn’t his ‘Happy goofy jokester’ self (God, this nickname was just ridiculously funny), she didn’t felt okay, at all. When he was happy, she was, but the opposite was also true...It felt weird.

« What do you...think about me ? »

What ?

Louis must have seen her shocked face, as he stuttered, trying to change of subject « N-Nevermind, that’s not imp-- »

« I t-think you are... a good friend, Louis. »

Louis turned his head back to her. Did he hear it right ?

« Do you -- »

« Mean it ? Yes, I mean it Louis. You are a good friend. You always care about the others, you have such a big heart, whatever Mitch... » Sophie spited as she looked at the tag Mitch carved on the piano ‘You suk at playing’ (God she wanted to punch him sometimes...Mitch might be a big brother for Willy, but he was still a douchebag when he wanted) « or Marlon, or Esther….or Vi...Or anyone says about you. You’re not careless, nor stupid, even if you joke around, even if you play piano all the time...You just, try to light up the mood and make the others smile for once, and they should be grateful to you for that ! »

Louis had his eyes wide open. Never, in all his life, someone respected, heck, COMPLIMENTED him for his efforts. He expected no one would.

« A-And... » Sophie felt her cheeks heat up for the first time, as she shyly scratched her neck « Your jokes themselves are funny. You make me laugh. »

Louis was freezed. He knew she made Sophie laugh, that wasn’t the surprise. The surprise was that she admitted it, like it wasn’t a problem. Sure, Violet, when she didn’t do her usual eyes roll (he liked making her do it) laughed, but it was kinda rare, Louis assumed his humor annoyed her and the others more than anything…

But to hear Sophie liked his jokes…

« Louis ? » Louis went back to reality as Sophie called her. She looked concerned, scared, like she feared that she said something wrong.

« Sophie... »

Sophie felt her breathing changing, growing more and more itched, stressed.

« I’m serious Louis, I mean every word I just said. »

Another unbearable silence.

Louis turned his head back to the music sheets, then to Sophie.

« Honnestly, your humor might be lame for the others, but...It makes me laugh, genuinely. »

Louis took an heavy breath.

« Sophie...Thank you. For everything. » He finally said.

« You’re welcome, Louis. »

« I mean » Louis cut her, trying to find his words « Thank you for...your kind words. I mean...Not everyone is mean at me, b-but...Sometimes, it’s just... » Louis suddenly felt Sophie’s hand on his.

He looked down, and noticed how close Sophie was to her, her hand on his and her beautiful blue sky eyes laid on him.

« Hey, it’s okay.. » Sophie felt her cheeks heat more « Calm down, you don’t have to panic about that. »

« I don’t panic because of that... » Louis shyly said « It’s just...I’m not used to it. Everyone hears the jokes, the piano...and after that, they stop listening. » Louis smiled at Sophie « You didn’t . »

Sophie smiled back.

« I’ll never stop listening to you, Lou. I-I... » Sophie blushed so much, she prayed that Louis wouldn’t see it.

« I love you. »

Louis went mute again, his eyes wide open. He turned his head back to the piano.

He couldn’t believe it. She returned his feelings. She loved him back !

He laughed out of relief, she loved him ! Him, out of every boy (and girl, he doesn’t mind) in the school !

Background / Pre-Cult: James was born in a loving family and was raised as a caring and loving child. When he was young the family was additioned with another member, his little sister and he loved her as his own flesh and blood. Even in his younger ages, he loved fixing things around the house, helping out the neighbours and the locals. He volunteered in the local hospital, nursing home and the veteran center as well. He was a first class student in school. He was a member of the high school swimming team, the Otters and won prices. James was also a part of the Cougars, the local baseball team. He was liked by many and disliked by few. He never got into any real trouble, other than defending his sister from the bullies in school from time to time. His parents wanted him to become a doctor, but he rather became a firefighter. When Joseph and his family came to the county, he volunteered to help out the man whenever he could and so, he kind of just became a member of the Project.

Faith Seed: As a member of the Family, he respects the young woman, though he also feels sorry for her as well. He can only imagine what she went through at such a young age and how she managed to fight her demons. He’s happy that she has a loving family and community around her now.

John Seed: He heard things about John, though he doesn’t believe in gossips nor likes to judge people, when he doesn’t know them that much. Even though they met a lot, during John’s visits to his brother, they didn’t talk that much. The only time that they spent time together was during Jame’s confession, but John was surprisingly nice to him after he confessed his sins and didn’t show any form of anger or judgement toward the man. So James only hopes that he’s just as good as his brother, and only uses force when neccesary.

Jacob Seed: James never liked men like Jacob: their thought about survival and war. James is a peace lover so he dislikes most of Jacob’s ideologys. But he respects the man, from what he read in the Book of Joseph about him.

Joseph Seed: He respects Joseph and thinks highly of him. Though he doesn’t accept his every decision and he politely makes suggestions for him to do things a bit differently. ( not killing innocent people, etc ) Joseph gave him the speech of “do you doubt me and the Project?” more than anyone, but he knows that Joseph wants to do good and so he’s not afraid of giving him advices.

Esther Bennett: His little sister. James loves her, even though people keep calling her an ‘adopted sister’, a phrase that James hates the most. They were very close, even in their younger ages and James always acted like the big, wise and protective brother to her. She came to him for advices and he helped her a lot with homework or just life in general. He gladly got rid of the spiders in her room as well. Now that she’s with John and he’s with Joseph he keeps thinking how she might be. Because he heard things about John, but he wants to be a faithful follower as well. If it comes down to it, he would go and back to hell for her.

Tabitha Myers: Esther’s best friend is close to James. They’ve been like brother and sister through the years and he’s been helpful and kind to her even more after her parents died. He’s glad that she found a new family in Joseph, as her new father and now that she lives on Joseph’s Island they meet a lot. Though he’s worried about her, seeing her sad all the time.

Joel Morris: His best friend and crush in the Project. Joel once saved Esther from a group of rogue Resistance members, and since then they became best friends. James is still studying sign language from Joel, and keeps getting better at it. They often meet when Joseph meets Faith and so they talk a lot. James knows that Joel is more of a neutral person toward the Project’s war with the Resistance, but doesn’t judge him because of that. He’s glad they’re friends and hopes that when the time comes, Joel will be there with them in the Collapse, safe and sound.

Background: He lived on Bushima together with his younger sister. Despite being male and the first born, his father chose his sister as the successor of the school due to her great skill and his lack. He was however great at marksmanship and practiced archery as well as close combat, which he excelled at. He saw his father brutally beat his sister for speaking up and regrettably watched. He had a fear of his father abandoning due to already loosing his birthrights, but as he saw it escalate, he finally decided to do something and hid his sister after her first hideout was discovered. She was however unable to see afterwards and he blamed himself for not having gone to them before the villagers. After hiding his sister, he went to the woods and stayed there to receive punishment from the animals. They mostly left him alone, but one sparrow took one of his eyes. He saw this as it saying that he had to lose one eye for the sight his sister lost, while the one remaining should be used to help his blind sister. He met Esther and her crew when they arrived and fought them to protect the island. He however lost and following the tradition, Esther was to kill him, which she refused. He began speaking about duty, responsibility and tradition, where Esther showed her frustration and claimed the island wrong and that she would change it. Together they then found out about the darkness on the island. He assisted them and saved Esther once, where he made her promise to take his sister with them. When they were leaving, the island’s animals threw his stuff onto the ship and left like that. It was seen as a symbol that his duty was to protect his sister and so he came along.

Personality: He has a serious sister-complex and worries for her most of the time. He gives out a murderous aura whenever a boy is too close to her, and always is about to draw out a dagger or his bow, when it happens. He is else very serious and tends to be the one that makes sure that the crew is functioning properly, as well as make sure they don’t get into too many problems. He treats Esther as a sister as well and looks after her, yet not as much. Despite being very strict towards himself and others, he still possesses great interest in gambling and is very good at it too. He even sometimes take risks during fights, so it could be more exciting for him. He is normally calm and collected, but loses himself if it is about his sister. He also loses himself, when facing one of Isaac's newest inventions. If he finds in himself in the wrong, he will punish himself with intense training or a test of concentration and pain. Sighs at others' stupidities and tries to break things up, whenever fights occur, but causes many himself. His moods tend to change after how his sister is doing, and what she has said to him. Normally acting like an adult, but reverts to that of a child, whenever angered or excited. He is also easily made curious and tends to spy.

He is one of the two that scolds the people of the crew, the other being Rouge. He tends to exaggerate every rumor he hears and every situation he is told about. Skills/Talents: He is a very good gambler and hardly loses. That is due to be able to tell every detail of a card, even its back and can calculate where the ball will fall, all due to him being able to see the kinetic energy of things and have very good eyes for details.

Best Qualities: He respects and understands the wishes of others. He also protects what is dear to him. Worst Qualities: He is too protective and can get really annoying sometimes, with his overprotectiveness. Morality/Ethics: You must do everything you can to protect what is dear to you.
