so much untapped potential within this fandom that jack is a player. “girls are nice, once or twice / ‘til i find someone new”. i

am thinking about said girls. a wide array of them that jack went on a date or two with, made out with in the balcony seats at medda’s theatre, messed around with for a week or two before disappearing from their lives completely in favour of the next girl that’s caught his eye. jack who is bad with relationships and has an avoidant attachment style and runs away from anything the moment it starts to feel real. he’s left a string of girls (and a couple guys) behind him, some more hurt than others. some that he avoids the gaze of in the street and some that he’s already forgotten entirely, couldn’t even name them if asked.

when i talk abt jack kelly i do hope he sounds like a literal saint. the kid who rarely sleeps through the night as is but still wont even try to go to sleep until everyone else is in bed (often how he figures out someone got arrested too). he throws blankets on the kids who dont have. even if that means he freezes on a roof that night. literally everyone comes before him and thats the way he Needs it to be. i love my little guy so much

one negative effect of there being a Newsies: the Musical proshot is that later casts and productions will too often try to replicate that show rather than reinterpret the script and the characters for themselves

as an example I think I would like certain musical productions a lot more if the actors actually played Jack Kelly rather than played Jeremy Jordan playing Jack Kelly, or played Racetrack instead of Ben Cook, etc.
