Genuinely recommend "A Mid-Childhood Night's Dream" from the newest season of the Simpsons. I always love a good Marge story but this one felt especially true to her. You can tell the writing staff is really being encouraged to write more personal stories. Not it's funniest (two jokes did get me to laugh out loud tho, that's pretty good! That's my usual amount of laughter for a Simpsons episode tbh. not much of a laugher when i watch on my own) but definitely one of its strongest emotionally. The ending got me to tear up a bit, it was just a genuinely sweet look at motherhood.

1, 7, 13, 24 and 30 for the Simpsons OC ask? c:
[Simpsons OC Ask Game]
1 – How did you discover the show in the first place? Did it inspire you to create an OC right away, or later on?
Was aware of the show since childhood of course, but while some of my friends watched episodes when I was in primary school, I didn't have the chance to (only basic channels + no internet). Then comes middle school, I got the internet and quickly became interested in watching shows and movies I didn't have access to before. I couldn't tell you what possessed me to finally check out the Simpsons but I found myself a very handy french website dedicated to streaming all of the episodes ('homer tv' i think it was called? I still remember the layout. RIP my old friend you are remembered and missed) and that is when I started my original binge... Good times ♥ I did watch some more later on, most notably a bunch of years ago when I was living with a friend, maybe circa 2018?.. iirc it had been either rumoured or announced the newest season then was to be the last (which i believed cuz the last ep was kind of a nice sendoff) but I'm very glad we've been shown wrong and the show still goes on :]
I got inspired to make my OC because my friends and I all fell into the show approximately at the same time, and one day in VC they started talking like they were actual citizens from Springfield, started talking about the characters like they were neighbours and bickering over things, and ultimately from that came the idea of making Housewife OCs for the show. Of course I jumped into that straight ahead cuz what better fun than engaging with media by making a lil guy to go with it? ♥
7 – What’s your OC’s motto? Similarly, what would be their catchphrase?
I guess both overlap! Her catchphrases are "I can fix him/it" and "this time it's different" which are both basically her way of thinking. She'll keep convincing herself she'll manage to improve the circumstances and people (often men) in her life, and that I promise this time it'll be different and sooo much better and this guy is good I swearrrr
13 – BONUS: Tell us a fun fact about your OC!
Her name is a complicated attempt from me to make it sound similarish to Ardate LMAO. All my friends and I tried to make something similar to our names/usernames but mine was the trickiest,,
'Ann Dale' is the best thing I could come up with that 1) sounds similarish to Ardate 2) sounds like a real name 3) is fun to say (important!)
The addition of 'Doreen' was really just because of point 3), i thought it sounded more fun to say/hear, and it also adds something to her... Something about 'Ann-Doreen' has a vibe that fits her kind of trashy struggling worker archetype, kind of in the similar vein as the names Cletus and Brandine give their kids
Hence; Ann-Doreen Dale :]

Hey, sorry, weird question, but what happened with Reddit and Westworld? Did the creators of Westworld change something about the show's future storylines because a redditer guessed what was going to happen?
So Westworld had a gigantic audience of 12 million, and it's surprising because this was HBO's attempt for a new tentpole franchise when Game of Thrones was going downhill.
A subreddit spawned, I was in it as a viewer capacity and there was a lot of speculation. Star Ward level of speculation. Which is good , if your show is good, you want them engaged.
So a bunch of redditors had guessed ( Spoilers) that Ed Harris was playing the Current version of Man in Black, and Jimmy Simpson was the younger version of Man in Black , William. That they were the same character.
And that's because the first season was actually beautifully crafted. Including one scene where Younger William enters the park for the first time, and debated choosing a Black or White cowboy hat. This is a simple storytelling device, character is nice, naive, believes in the good in the world, circumstances makes him lose that humanity. Then it made sense for William to be MIB, wearing the black cowboy hat. But until you saw the entire series it could be brushed off. But once you saw it, it made so much sense.
This is during the height of GOT, Star Wars when speculation and the need for twists and turns were paramount. Felt like you needed to outsmart the viewers if you want to be a good showrunner.
During that time, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy have an interview to an audience, which they said things in a joking manner. But in the age of digital social media, things go fast. Especially if it's only a text blurb and people didn't see the actual clip
Turns out to be a tongue in cheek joke. But the damage was done and it spread everywhere.
They also decided to do a prank to reveal the all the spoilers of season 2, turns out they made a rickroll video to Redditors as a light-hearted joke.
With that said, season 2 started but there was a lot of thing that seemed off in the show, it started to get even more conveluted.
Multiple spanning timelines. The show also started to get more and more philosophical. Because the show is about Robots ( Hosts) , you never know if a character is a robot as well. So that could feel like a cheap gimmick.
Also it's not only focused on Westworld anymore, it spanned outside to the real world , making a show called Westworld...not Westworld ( even though the Old Westworld movie had multiple theme park sections as well)
I also worked in Marketing, I also want to take the hunch, that General Audience ( Not the hardcore Human Philosopher/ai/spirit/High Art viewer ) wanted to just watch Robots vs Humans and the drama surrounding that, not get too deep in the human subconscious.
But the showrunners made it felt they added twists and turns so much, maybe to outsmart said Redditors? ( As I said, joke or not right?) That the general audience started to be confused and lost interest
The show then went from season 1 with a staggering of 12 million viewers, to season 4 measly few million. And this is HBO rolling the red carpet for Nolan and Joy.
I feel, if you're a showrunner, you need to be careful because anything you say will be dissected and spread like wildfire, and sometimes written articles don't convey tone, especially if it's a joke, that click bait newest and even well known journals can run with. This you can clearly see if you are part of the Marvel fandom.
All of this is sad because Westworld season 1 was so beautifully crafted and written. But because of all of this, as a viewer, you're left wondering if Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy were genuinely trying to craft a twist because the story needed it, or done it for the shock and confuse viewers even more.
Nerdwriter went more in details on it's fall.
This is why I am a bit worried about the TV Fallout Series because they are the executive producers and also Nolan directed some episodes.
This is also why there is so many similar vibes to Westworld, especially MIB to The Ghoul, Dolores Abernathy to Lucy Maclean and so on as I posted on my Tumblr
Both Fallout and Westworld had the gaming aspect where your character could choose to be good, mid , or evil. As Westworld, humans can go in to just explore an enchanting Western theme park, but some are deviants and they go there to unleash their deepest desires.
The only hope I have is that Fall Out is a franchise, they have rules and lore.
Then again Star Wars had rules and lore but they retconned and brought back dead characters just for reusing legacy characters to make more money...
So yeah just my two cents 🥴

Thoughts on the Microsoft Third Party news?
I mean if Xbox is getting to be a big enough brand that people are raising questions of whether or not exclusivity means monopoly, then yeah, spreading more of your games out across multiple platforms makes legal sense.
More and more of the game industry is regrettably going to be moving in the direction of "account ecosystem" rather than hardware platform. Years ago there was talk about how one day there would be no Xbox or Playstation console, just an Xbox or Playstation App you launch on something like a Roku.
The final disgusting endpoint in all of this "no more sales, just service" drive. No discs, not even local data, just a monthly streaming subscription. Forever. No ownership, no ability to mod games, no way to play offline.
Even in the best case scenario, we're looking at a Netflix where you stream 90% of what you play and only "buy" the 10% of games you truly love.
The only thing that flies in the face of that is, like, Steam. The state of movie ownership is what it is because Netflix got there first. The streaming arm of Netflix is the entire reason the "Hollywood Streaming Industry" exists right now. It predates Prime Video, it predates Tubi, it predates everything.
Fewer people probably remember this, but the original premise of Hulu was to get TV networks signed on to simulcast their newest shows online, because none of them were doing that yet. "Netflix Instant" (the original name for Netflix streaming) even predates that. Hulu was trying to fill a need that Netflix could not because Netflix did not actually stream TV shows at first. Not even syndicated rerun stuff. It was just movies. Streaming Seinfeld or The Simpsons or The Office was just outright impossible.
Netflix got in there and shifted the direction of an entire industry, before borders had been staked out or consumers had built up substantial libraries they were protective of. So we went from VHS to DVD to Blu-ray to Streaming, where "Streaming" usually means a subscription service and not any form of ownership.
But that's not the case with games. Users expect backwards compatibility, they expect their libraries to carry forward, and in some cases people may own hundreds or even thousands of games in a digital library. I know on the Xbox 360, I own at least $200 worth of digital games, because I won a sweepstakes specifically for a $200 Xbox gift card. And my 19 year old Steam account will gladly tell the entire world I own over 1600 PC games.
That's just on Steam! Epic is still always giving away free games (200+), GOG is occasionally giving away free games and holding sales where you can get stuff for a couple bucks, etc. etc. etc. It's like the warehouse of mythical items from Indiana Jones over here.
People own gigantic libraries of digital games they expect to keep and willingly modify in perpetuity. It's a lot harder to push people to stream everything off the cloud as a result. It's why the big selling point for game streaming is "No downloads!" and it's why it's struggling to catch on. Sure, a 100gb+ game is huge, but if I take my download limiters off, it doesn't actually take that long. A 90 minute download for a 30+ hour game seems like a pretty fair exchange, all told.
But Microsoft is still going all-in on "account ecosystem." It's like, think of it this way: every game publisher is in a constant war to have the one big holiday game that everybody buys. And for guys like Microsoft, that one big game a year is their primary moneymaker. If they can get everyone to spend at least $60 on their game once a year, they stay in business.
Game Pass is $60 a year. They side step having to put out that holiday season's biggest game and get to say, "Well for the price of one game, you can get access to an entire library." It changes the perspective on so much of their business model. Suddenly they don't need the big flagship holiday blockbuster, they just need to get more people to pay for Game Pass.
And the ultimate end goal there is probably to get Game Pass in as many places as they can. There's already a PC Game Pass. If they can launch some version of Game Pass for Playstation? Game Pass for Switch? They'll do it. The Xbox almost doesn't matter anymore. The subscription and the ecosystem does. It's why Microsoft rebooted the Xbox app on PC a few years ago -- it used to be a "Companion App" for your console, but now the Xbox App on PC is where all of their PC gaming and Game Pass stuff lives. Xbox isn't hardware anymore, it's a service you subscribe to, and that's where the real money is. Especially considering what a gigantic money pit hardware is; I don't think Microsoft has ever, even once, turned a profit on Xbox hardware (and neither has Sony, as far as I know).
Get rid of the need for hardware and that $60/year looks even sweeter, doesn't it? Especially when you start to consider that something like Game Pass Ultimate is actually $180/year. If you can lure people in on the $60 but upsell them to the $180... well, gosh, that's almost the price of a whole new console every year, isn't it? That's a lot of constant cashflow without needing the years and years of deeply expensive research, development, and manufacturing.
Getting people to spend a console's worth of money on your service without actually needing the console itself is massively desirable. They'd be saving millions, if not billions of dollars while making millions more elsewhere. There's a chart out there some executive is drooling over where a line goes straight up by something like 900%.
The only problem is the whole consumer rights/ownership factor. Which I am not a fan of. I objectively refuse to support Game Pass for what it's obvious goals are. I will buy and own every game I want to play. No compromises. I will buy physical if space and money allows. I will not be bled dry by temporary access.

I was tagged by @magicalrocketships thank youu! ily!
Name: Anitra
Sign: Libra
Time: 1:47
Last movie: Oof I hardly ever watch movies. I think the last one I saw was Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse. I took my kids to see it and I actually really loved it. Do documentaries count as movies? If they do, then I just watched Class Action Park a few days ago.
Last show: The last one I watched was Barry. Still midway through Season 2 of that one.
When I created this blog: 2014
Other blogs: fades into the bushes like Homer Simpson, listen I'm always doing 50 things at once, okay?
@hlficlibrary - my Louis/Harry fic rec blog
@letsdocuboutit - my newest one! for my new podcast!
@1dmonthlyficroundup - where I roundup all the current 1d fics each month!
@louisrarepairfest - for the currently posting Louis rare pair fest I run
@soulmatesabroad - for a past fic fest I ran for 3 years and might run again
@1dbreakupfest - ran this fest once and might run it again someday
@podfic-pals - member of this one where we post 1d podfics!
whispers should I talk about the other ones? lol FINE
@louli5ever - dedicated to Oli and the Louli friendship, is it fairly extensive for something that's kind of a joke? maybe.
@hotguyluke - dedicated to Louis' hot friend Luke. Is this also fairly extensive for someone we rarely see? also yes. I don't do things half way, okay?
Let's pretend there aren't any more, okay? Those were the sort of active ones.
Do I get asks/may you ask me something: Yep! Mostly I get asks about fics, but sometimes I write silly things in the tags, feeling like I'm talking to myself and then someone will send me an ask about them and I'm like oh yeah you can all see these
Average hours of sleep: Sighhhhhhhhhhh. I try to sleep from 11-7. Do I sleep from 11-7? No. I probably get to sleep closer to midnight. And since June I have had nightmares almost every single night. Yay. They wake me up multiple times and then I go back to sleep to endure more nightmares before I wake up at 7. So much fun. Yes, I've gone back to therapy.
Instruments: I wish! My son takes drum lessons so I'm living vicariously for now.
What I’m wearing: I wear Louis merch almost every single day, but you've caught me on an off day. I have a pink sweatshirt on that's from my local zoo and some navy blue pants with a white graphic pattern on them and pink Care Bear socks. I have 3 types of hoodies...Louis, Chicago Cubs, and my local zoo. I do not know why I have decided these three things are my entire personality, but oh well.
Dream job: I used to say writer. But I don't know if I want to do that professionally anymore. Or at least I don't think I want to be a fiction writer as a job. And the reason for that is that I love it too much. I love writing so much and it has always been such a huge part of who I am. Do I want to make it into something else? Do I want it to be a job that I "have" to do? Will it still be fun? Will it turn into a chore? I can't stand the thought that I could lose that joy. This is going to maybe piss some writers off lol, but I've never experienced writer's block. I've never sat down and been unable to write something. I'm always writing the exact thing that I want to write in that moment. It's one of the luckiest best things about me. What I've kind of turned to now is podcasting because it is something that I enjoy that I think I'm kind of good at and that I could potentially monetize one day. And it does involve writing because I have to write up notes and talk about something. But that's not really the same as writing a story. blah blah blah sorry this was so long.
I'll tag: @dearlou @noellehenry-original @gaycousinlarry @fallinglikethis @ohharold @joliepetitelou @statementlou and anyone else who wants to do this just say I tagged you!

I am trying to get into the new season of Doctor Who, but...
I just can't. Fairly, I have not liked the series passionately since Matt Smith. Sure, Peter had some really unique episodes. Some defining the series. But I hated him overall; he reminded me of the BACK IN THE DAY doctors who were just know it all, self righteous pricks. And Jodie was good for what she had but....that's when I felt like the writing was really going downhill. And none of the companions were...unique. Stood out. Especially this new one: Ruby road (or whatever her name is). She's so fucking basic, it's like they put a barbie doll in with the doctor. The writing is...let me put it this way. It feels like they write the endings of all these episodes cuz they wanted to make a point (like the newest one is how we can't do anything with technology; not even walk). I watch Doctor who for the insanity! The randomness. Tongue in cheek comedy & fun. And MAYBE a moral lesson here and there. But a theme every episode of 'we're ruining reality this way' gets preachy.
Outside of a few Peter episodes, the writing has gone stale. I mean, I used to bitch when they would have yet ANOTHER the master, darleks, or cyberman episode. But at least those were consistent. I mean, I have liked the new doctor for only TWO scenes. And it's not his acting...it's the fucking writing. When he first arrived. The whole catch thing was pure fun and genius. And the newest episode where he BEGS with tears and shouting to let the people be saved by him, but they refuse (and were 100% gonna die from their ignorance). You could FEEL the pain in him. Spitting and screaming like a loon. He couldn't do or say anything, and usually he can. These people were walking to their deaths and he KNEW IT. EXPERIENCED IT. Probably saw it happen before. But that's it for good doctor who moments so far.
The entire space baby episode? Fucking dumb. His partner? BORING AND BLAND. Her adopted family is more fucking interesting than her. And that last episode before where the lady was stalking her (and it turned out to be future her)? They didn't fully explain wtf happened. They're just like 'we ended it. That is reality.' I had such high hopes but...it's like the simpsons...your best stuff can only be the best stuff if there's a LOT of shit around it. Just for comparison.
<This is what happens with this show runner. It's all his way or the highway, I heard, and due to that...no one puts him in check when he writes/approves a boring ass fucking script. That is something that KILLS good tv shows: echo chambers (and dictators.)>
