sorry for sending a uh message again but
i feel like animaticlock is dying or som???
it doesn't hzve a lot of content for it/about it anymore
i feel like this is due to people just getting tired of the ship of hyperfixating on different things, like im obsessed with gravity falls rn. But I still somewhat like animaticlock?
idk it just doesn't make me as happy as it used to..
and it's rlly a shame cause i like both shows but im really just getting tired of it
same with the shows,,,, but that's only because i rewatched them too much lol
its a shame the ship is dying tbh
me when the when
random but
yapper x listener ahh gif 😭😭🙏🙏
Yeah I've been noticing that too...
It's been frustrating me a little bit because I still very much have a hyperfixation on the ship and it's been becoming increasingly harder to find new content of it 😭
Ofc, people can move on from Animaticlock if they want, it's their accounts and they can do whatever makes them happy but MAN I'm starving out here ×_×
I've also noticed that whenever people do post stuff for the ship now, it gets significantly less attention than it did back in June.
I calculated some statistics to see what the average number of notes for posts under the Animaticlock tag during this month so far are compared to the first 12 days of June:
Average for August: 14 notes
Number of August posts: 17
Average for June: 92 notes
Number of June posts: 18
Surprisingly the number of posts in the first 12 days of these two months were about the same, but as I suspected, the attention these posts received significantly declined. Keep in mind that these time periods are only 2 months apart from one another!
Aninaticlock is absolutely on a decline right now, which sucks for everyone who's still hooked on the ship but I think we should've seen this coming:
I agree with you, I think people are getting tired of it, and I think I might know the reason why. Animaticlock is a crosship, and thing with crosships is that they, in almost all circumstances, NEVER get any sort of canon interactions. While we did get two crossover videos involving the actual voice actors, this videos aren't canonical. While some people can will through that and stay fully invested in a ship like that, a lot of people can't. A lot of people need at least some sort of canon interaction to keep them excited in the ship because it makes it way easier to see exactly what their dynamic is like.
Animaticlock is special in the way that it managed to become a popular ship at all despite this. However, it was still unlikely that most shippers would continue to be as into the ship as they were when they first got hooked on it because of what I explained about crosships earlier (plus other reasons like getting new interests/hyperfixations that pull them away from it), so it was nearly guaranteed to have a decline, and that's exactly what's happening right now.
I'll still continue to make more Animaticlock stuff despite this tho, dw lol I'm not done with the ship yet
Also I literally love that GIF sm it's so SILLY ^_^
#rambles#ramblings#animatic x clock#clock x animatic#animaticlock#clockmatic#crosships#crosship#crosshipping#i kinda miss the glory days of this ship :<

Amphibia vs. Star vs the Forces of Evil
People like to give Star vs. The Forces of Evil flak for having a bad ending, but I feel like everyone forgets that aside from that, the show was really good! It had a rocky start but it got better as it went on, with fun characters, both heroes and villains alike, that grew and changed. Also, more importantly I think, it was different. It had a vibe and sense of humor that was totally its own; you couldn't say the dialogue in that show could've come from Gravity Falls or Amphibia.
Speaking of Amphibia, that's kind of the reason why I started reflecting about Star. My sister and I love Amphibia, but we were both in agreement that it's not great; we enjoy watching new episodes as they come out, but we wouldn't go back and re-watch those episodes, or even be able to name too many episodes we remember watching aside from the plot-heavy ones. Amphibia has nice characters, but its episode structures are so... standard. It's a cartoon that feels like a cartoon made for kids, with morals that you can see coming from the beginning of an episode and very safe and done-to-death plot lines. It's like the show only slightly rose in quality since it started and then stayed on a plateau, never really peaking.
Star just let its characters and weird concepts carry it through - I couldn't tell you what the moral or lesson was in most episodes, because that was never the point (and even the ones that do have lessons were a lot more subtle about it than Amphibia). I could talk about awkward conversations, surreal situations, and hilarious interactions that we see between the characters. I could talk about the different dimensions and places Star and her friends visited. If you asked me to name random episodes, off the top of my head I could list the one where Star was caught in a time loop where she had to solve a math problem, the one where Marco and Tom bonded through a game of ping pong, the one where Star, Marco and Janna went to that weird supermarket to buy Marco a new wallet, the one where Star and her friends celebrated that Christmasy holiday about a stump, the Blood Moon Ball episode, the Mewberty episode, the one where Marco chased Heckapoo through different dimensions for 20 years, the one where we see what happened to Ludo after the season 1 finale, the Spider with a Top Hat episode, and literally every episode with Toffee because he was such a cool villain. And I could go on! The show had so much imagination and so many iconic episodes.
But if you asked me to name you some episodes of Amphibia? I honestly struggle with that. The season 2 finale of course. The one where Anne, Marcy, and Sasha play in a band together... The one where Sprig gets jealous of Marcy? The one where Anne and Poppop don't see eye-to-eye about some tradition or other? (That probably describes several episodes from the first season). The Gravity Falls crossover one? The one where Anne wants to feel useful to the Plantars? The one where Polly wants to prove she can take care of herself instead of being babied? You see what I'm getting at here? Aside from a few exceptions, I can only remember the episodes in relation to whatever lesson each character had to learn that day, not specifically because of what actually happened in the episode. Of course, that could just be me and maybe someone else can actually name a lot of their favorite episodes knowing exactly what happened in each. Different strokes and all.
But my point is, Star was a lot better than people give it credit for, even if not EVERY episode was good. But I would rather a show had really great episodes and arcs even if it had a smattering of bad ones in between, than a show where pretty much every episode is of the same middle-tier quality without really striving to do better. Now I haven't finished the third season of Amphibia yet, so maybe I'm judging too hard; I do like the show, I just got to thinking about it in comparison to other Disney cartoons (I haven't watched The Owl House, but even though it gives me similar vibes to Amphibia my sister tells me it's also a show where she really enjoys re-watching episodes). And my second point here I guess is, an ending does not a story make. Star is not suddenly a bad show because of a bad ending or even a bad season, so I hope people don't turn around on Amphibia either and call it a bad show if it doesn't get the ending they want (or on the opposite end, call it a masterpiece if it pulls off a perfect ending).

A Postmortem on the FLCL Sequels
So, with the end of FLCL Shoegaze comes the end of the FLCL series. Or at least, the end until Production I.G. decides to dig it back up and see what they can do with it now that they're no longer co-producing new seasons with Adult Swim. Whether or not they were good will be a debate that'll be as endless as who would win between Goku and Superman, but that's why I'm here to give my thoughts on all four of them, my history with the series, and do my best to analyze the themes encompassing this era of FLCL. So you all better pack your bags, ladies, gentlemen, germs, and every other gender in-between, because you're about to go on a trip.
As far as I can remember, I was relatively new to the FLCL fandom when Progressive first aired in 2018. I was introduced to the original series by my art therapist in 2016, I got the complete series DVD by Funimation for my birthday (along with the first two seasons of Rick and Morty on Blu-Ray), and my life was possibly changed forever. After watching the first episode, I told my art therapist how I thought it was a mix of Rick and Morty and Star vs the Forces of Evil in how they both centered on an average awkward boy (Naota, Morty, Marco) being taken on bizarre adventures by some lunatic from beyond the stars (Haruko, Rick, Star) and learning valuable lessons from having his life repeatedly put at risk.
At first, I didn't entirely pay attention to the messages because I was more distracted by the fun animation, giant robots, excellent dialogue (Kari Wahlgren and Barbara Goodson have such great chemistry together, by the way), and Haruko herself, who quickly became one of my top waifus and comfort characters. A few months later, one Tuesday evening in April 2017, I came up with the idea to have Haruko hang out with Dipper and Mabel Pines from Gravity Falls, wrote it down on the notes app of my phone, and so began my fanfic-writing career. I just thought that FLCL's off-the-wall humor would fit pretty well with the weirdness of Gravity Falls, and I also believed that Haruko and Grunkle Stan would make a great duo. And sure enough, the resulting story I called Fooly Falls was successful, and I've been writing crossovers ever since.
Now that we have my humble beginnings as a fanfiction writer out of the way, let's move on to talking about Progressive already. As the only true sequel to FLCL out of this bunch, it naturally had much to live up to, like most sequels. Studio Gainax was practically a walking corpse with most of its big franchises going elsewhere with Studio Khara making the Rebuild of Evangelion movies, Panty and Stocking being put in hibernation before it was announced Studio Trigger would pick up its long-awaited second season years later (by the way, FLCL animated by Trigger. Just imagine the possibilities), there was an entirely new cast of characters for Haruko to mess with so she can have some of that sweet Atomsk pie, and most famously, they had a completely new creative team since most of them were off at Trigger. I remember all the theories about what Naota and Mamimi were up to around this time. While they were all proven false, it was interesting to see so many different ideas.
To give a brief rundown, our favorite answer to the question "What happens when you stick Rick Sanchez, Star Butterfly, Deadpool, and The Doctor in a crack den together and made them lick from the same frog?" has returned to Earth in search of another troubled kid to sexually harass so she can get her hands on Atomsk, this time it's Hidomi Hibajiri, an aloof girl who has bizarre dreams of everybody dying and tearing each other apart. But also along for the ride is Julia Jinyu, a very Haruko-like woman (and also one of the most underrated anime characters in recent memory) who also pursues Atomsk and later turns out to be Haruko's more moral other half. Think of it like Kami and King Piccolo from Dragon Ball being the good and evil halves of the same Namekian, Stripe and Gizmo from Gremlins, the Skesis and the Mystics from The Dark Crystal, Scott Pilgrim and Nega-Scott, Urizen and V from Devil May Cry 5 both coming from Vergil, Ansem and Xemnas from Kingdom Hearts being the Heartless and Nobody of Xehanort, etc. Jinyu was probably my favorite character from the sequels overall. I liked her design, her voice by the excellent Allegra Clark, her interactions with Hidomi, and the dynamic she had with Haruko, which gave me a ton of Stan and Ford vibes. And it's through that dynamic that I present to you what I believe to be the overall message of the sequels, that being to let go of the past so you can embrace the future.
Throughout the entire season, Haruko is even more obsessed with Atomsk than ever after a near-successful attempt at capturing the Pirate King that resulted in the creation of Jinyu, who wants Atomsk to remain free, which causes the two to argue in pretty much every scene they appear together in. Meanwhile, Hidomi's mother says that at some point, they should stop waiting for the absent Mr. Hibajiri, but Hidomi still thinks he's out there, which creates some drama in the climax of the season. Ultimately, Hidomi's arc comes full circle once she ditches the headphones she wears to shut out the world around her and accepts everything for what it is. At the same time, when it seems like Haruko will finally get her hands on Atomsk, the normally bold and brash biker babe starts crying over how the Pirate King doesn't want to accept her feelings. However, Atomsk decides to throw Haruko a bone and hug her before returning Jinyu to life and giving the Vespa Woman the comfort she needed at the moment. To quote Ide in that exact scene, all beautiful things eventually fade away.
When I turned FLCL Progressive into Fooly Falls 2: Ride on Shooting Star, I made this message about letting go of the past much more obvious through the plotline involving Grunkle Stan's grudge against Haruko. Twenty years after the events of Fooly Falls, Stan never forgave Haruko for betraying his trust by nearly getting Dipper and Mabel killed in her quest for Atomsk, and he still holds that grudge even at the ripe old age of 79. Naturally, Dipper, Mabel, and Ford aren't very trusting of Haruko either, as the three thought she was just an awkward memory they'd soon forget over time. Since then, Dipper moved to Gravity Falls after finishing college to take up Ford's apprenticeship, Mabel followed behind to continue a romantic relationship with Pacifica, and Ford soon formed a friendship with Jinyu like the one Stan and Haruko had in the past.
Meanwhile, Gwen Pines, the daughter of Dipper and Wendy, has nightmares like Hidomi's that usually involve the destruction of the world because she fears a future where she could lose her family, her friends, her home, and eventually herself. Similarly, though not as apparent as Gwen, her little brother Tyrone, and three of Soos & Melody's children, Leia, Juan, and Joseph "Jorgé" Ramirez, all fear growing up while Ian and Imelda Ramirez act too mature for their age. And finally, there's Mabel and Pacifica's adopted son Arnold, who is a constant nervous wreck as a result of Pacifica dedicating her life to being a superior parent to her own parents and smothering Arnold with as much love as possible, making Arnold a very timid mama's boy who's not too keen on breaking out of his comfort zone. Whenever he is forced to try new things, hilarity usually ensues, and something bad happens as a result. By the end of the story, however, Stan lets go of his feud with Haruko as he dies, all the kids have grown as people from their adventures together, and Haruko learns from Dipper that she can't force someone to love her, as Dipper has tons of experience in that regard with his childhood crush on Wendy, before accepting Jinyu as like a sister to her and the two of them ride off into the sunset to stop Medical Mechanica.
Now we move onto FLCL Alternative, which I plan on turning into a prequel to Fooly Falls/Rick and Morty crossover titled Rick and Haruko. In this season, we focus on 17-year-old Kana Koumoto and her friends as they await the impending awkwardness of adulthood until Haruko and Medical Mechanica crash into their lives. As I stated earlier, Rick and Haruko will be a prequel to Fooly Falls, expanding on revelations in Fooly Falls 2 that Haruko came from a dystopian hellhole that was about to be destroyed by the Cromulons and Atomsk until she found herself entangled in the adventures of Rick Sanchez, Birdperson, and Squanchy. However, if you've read Fooly Falls 2, you'd know that eventually, Haruko would betray Rick and become the Vespa Woman we all know her as through a combination of her growing lust for Atomsk and having a toxic role model in Rick. How all that goes down, you'll have to wait and see.
Similarly, Kana's friendship with Pets starts to come crashing down when she discovers Pets' crummy home life and tries to help her, but this, unfortunately, goes poorly when Kana realizes that she was taking her friendship with Pets for granted, forcing her to accept that adulthood isn't as bad as she thinks she is. Correlating to the theme of accepting the future I brought up earlier and will become even stronger once I talk about Alternative's follow-up Shoegaze, Kana still has much growing up to do.
And now we move on to Shoegaze, quite possibly the most controversial sequel season since Progressive. No joke, when I first saw the trailer, I thought we were getting a FLCL video game that wasn't Hi-Fi Rush or Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. Yeah, the switch to CGI definitely took some getting used to, and the fact that the season was only three episodes long for reasons that will forever elude me certainly didn't help me and other viewers adjust to the change.
Anyways, in what is apparently a prequel to the original series, though I don't see it outside of Haruko searching for Atomsk again, what seems to be the origins of the Rickenbacker, and the presence of our favorite sopping wet cat with eyebrows that are definitely compensating for something, Commander Amarao, Grunge takes place in a wretched hive of scum and villainy called Okura where we focus on three of its young residents getting caught up in some classic FLCL shenanigans. Shinpachi is tired of how ambivalent his sushi chef father is towards the state of their world. Shonari is a rock man who had to flee his home planet with his brother after Medical Mechanica took it over, only to become a victim of bullying as a result while said brother fell in with one of the local yakuza gangs. Finally, Orinoko is raised by her single father and their family's robot. Rather than easing us into this new world before it all goes to hell, we begin with getting straight into the action as Haruko kills an important member of Medical Mechanica with tainted sushi, makes Shinpachi her new Naota, and kills the mayor before turning all the yakuza against each other while she hacks into Medical Mechanica to release Atomsk. Yeah, it's definitely a lot to take in for just the first episode.
To put it in Layman's terms, Shinpachi believes he has no future in Okura, Shonari is disappointed with his brother becoming a drunkard doing the yakuza's dirty work, and Orinoko has mommy issues that she vents on the robot, who later turns out to have her mother's consciousness uploaded into it upon her death. As Shin narrates in the first episode, nobody in his world has any hope left except for the chance to get the hell out of dodge by rocket. He, Shonari, and Orinoko dream of one of them finding a way out of Okura to a better life, but then in comes Haruko to cause her usual brand of chaos in search of Atomsk.
I want to bring up Orinoko in particular because while she does dream of a better future, she also has trouble letting go of the past by refusing to accept the house robot as like a mother to her, only for her to change her mind when she learns that the robot houses her mother's mind, so she's still alive in a sense. Afterward, Haruko gives the three kids a ticket off of Okura, but Orinoko is the only one to use the ticket to leave and pursue the future she wants, while Shin and Shonari have their hopes for their futures restored.
Lastly, there's Shoegaze, the current final season of FLCL, or at least the last season Production I.G. will co-produce with Adult Swim, according to Jason DeMarco on his Twitter. Ten years after the bizarre end of FLCL Alternative, we pick up with Masaki Aofuji, who can see weird ghost-like creatures who project screenshots of the previous seasons on his body. Joining him are Kana and Tsukata Kanda, returning from Alternative, along with another very Haruko-like girl named Harumi Araisho. I'll admit I was one of the few speculating heavily on whether Harumi and Haruko were somehow connected. Maybe Harumi was actually Haruko in disguise, another part of her like Jinyu was, or even an evil clone created by Medical Mechanica. But in actuality, Harumi was a completely separate character, and Haruko didn't even show up at all. But I'll get further into that later.
The premise of this season is Masaki and Harumi adventuring into a mysterious tower, and it's up to Kanda and a grown-up Kana to stop whatever Harumi has planned because it turns out she's a Medical Mechanica sympathizer. However, it turns out that there is far more to Harumi than we're led to believe. As it turns out, Harumi is actually from another dimension where she was actually a boy and was displaced into Masaki and Kana's dimension due to the end of Alternative that caused the universe to split into two. The now female Harumi is left lost in this strange new world, wondering if they really belong, which causes them to become kindred spirits with the equally isolated Masaki.
Now let's get into the real meat and potatoes of this section and what I believe shall validate my point made here. In the ten years that passed since Alternative, Kana never quite got over her breakup with Pets and was experimented on by the government to try and reawaken her N.O. powers in the hopes that she would be able to restore the universe to normal, slowly separating Kana from her remaining friends in the process and generally ruining her life in general. In episode 2, as she confronts Masaki and Harumi on top of the tower, Kana pours her heart out in an impassioned speech about how people had high expectations for her and that she wasn't prepared for the responsibilities thrust upon her. But despite everything she went through and all of her regrets, Kana just kept rolling with life's punches, displaying how while she's trying to live in the now, she remains stuck in the past.
By contrast, Harumi gives their own speech about how they'd rather live in the now and live their life to the fullest. Or at least what life they did have before it was almost cut short by an easily scared sniper, and the resulting burst of N.O. energy from Masaki nearly joins the two universes together again, just as Kanda planned. However, in the chaos, Harumi is returned to their original dimension and gender, while Masaki's life is returned to normal once the dust settles. However, he gets to see Harumi again thanks to Atomsk allowing him to cross dimensions and visit the Mars colony Harumi and their sister live on while also making sure to deliver Pets a letter from Kana.
In conclusion, the FLCL sequels may seem incredibly disjointed at first. Still, through my best attempt at analyzing them all, I can conclude that while they have differing messages and themes, they are ultimately carried by the overarching theme of the past versus the future that also connects to the classic series's message of the weirdness of growing up and how you should just live in the now instead of acting more mature than you actually are. As a wise woman once said, "You're still just a kid, Takkun."
Oh boy, this took me a while! I've just been in such a FLCL mood for a while now and I just needed to get this off my chest, but I simply had trouble how. Anyways, now that this analysis is finally done, be sure to keep an eye out for the following stories in the Fooly Falls universe!
Fooly Falls: A FLCL Christmas in Gravity Falls (a Christmas special born from watching Dragon Ball Z Abridged's Christmas Tree of Might and Plan to Eradicate Christmas, coming as soon as I finish Steven Universe Snake Eyes)
Rick and Haruko (tying into Grunge & Shoegaze and Rick and Morty season 7, to be released hopefully in 2024)
FLCL on Infinite Earths (the epic grand finale of the Fooly Falls timeline crossing the cast over with characters from the original FLCL, Progressive, and Alternative, along with tons of other series due to cameo in Rick and Haruko in a multiversal crisis taking cues from Super Robot Wars and the various DC Comics crisis events. Possibly coming in 2024, or maybe even 2025 to tie in with FLCL's 25th anniversary)
Until we can swing the bat again FLCL, ride on.

Things I know about The Owl House
In preparation for my liveblog of The Owl House, I’ve made a list of things that I have been spoiled on regarding the series over the last year or two. I intend to go into the series as blind as possible - I watched the first episode about a year ago, to see if it was something I’d like, but I have never seen anything else from the series - no episodes, no clips, and as little exposure to images/gifsets as I could manage.
But sadly, when a show is as popular as this one, it’s hard to avoid spoilers entirely. And I’m not particularly good at remaining unspoiled on things, as my curiosity often gets the better of me and I end up playing spoiler chicken with myself. So, as it turns out, there are a lot of things that I know about the series that I probably shouldn’t. Since I can’t exactly un-know these spoilers, I figure the best course of action is to share everything I know so we’re all on the same page. So let’s get to it!
Disclaimers:
1. This is a list of things that I, someone who has never watched The Owl House, would consider spoilers. However, there may be actual spoilers for the series in here, so tread carefully if you’re not caught up with the series yourself.
2. This is a post made as part of a blind liveblog. Please do not spoil or clarify anything that is listed here. I do not want any more information about the series than what I already have. Thank you!
(Warning: this is a long post.)
As mentioned above, I watched the entire first episode a year ago to see if it was something I'd want to watch (and potentially liveblog). Yes, I took an entire year to get around to this. I don't recall all the details, but I remember the general plot of the episode, the premise of the series, and the main characters' names.
Their names are Luz (main character), Eda (mentor character), and looks at smudged writing on hand King, I think? (my brain filed him as "the little guy" so I'm not 100% sure on the name but I think that's it)
(prior to watching the first episode, I assumed it was a straightforward fantasy setting - something like The Dragon Prince, for example. Having watched that one episode, I am now aware that it's a "character from the real world goes to fantasy world" type setting.)
I don't actually know much about King beyond what the first episode revealed about him, and I don't exactly remember everything that happened in that episode so... he's probably the main character I know the least about. babey
I've heard that Luz attempts to learn magic, though I don't have any info about how successful she is. Based on what I remember of the first episode, it makes sense that this would happen, but I don't remember if it's actually brought up in the first episode so I'm counting it as a spoiler.
I... think the whole "I let my mom think I was going to a boring summer camp (or something, I don’t remember the exact details) but actually I am hanging out in a cool fantasy world" set-up might... be addressed?? in some way? instead of just being the background for the story to happen? This may just be wishful thinking, though. I think I do recall reading that something happens at the end of season 1, maybe? but that's about it.
so, there are some things that I've heard about Eda. First of all, I know there's a fandom crossover joke about her and Grunkle Stan from Gravity Falls being exes. I can only assume they got on each other's nerves due to being way too similar for comfort.
next... hm. I think Eda has some sort of curse??? I know exactly nothing about what the curse is or what it does, only that there’s an "owl beast" involved and I'm guessing this may have something to do with why the series is called what it is.
Is Eda a were-owl??
seriously, I have visual references for what most of the important characters look like because I see them everywhere, but literally all I've seen regarding this curse thing is vague words. I am very eager to learn what it's all about!
also I think there's an owl who's also a stick who is a character? Maybe named Hooty? (don't quote me on that one) They may have been in the first episode but I honestly can't remember, so until I actually get to watching it and find out, let's assume this is also a spoiler.
I think there's a joke about them dying? unsure if it's fandom joking about a serious situation or just one of those funny bits in an episode though
then there’s some characters whom I'm pretty sure I should not know about
there's a villain called "the collector". this is literally all I know about the character
there's a girl who's kind of a mean rival character for Luz? but then later they become gfs. It is impossible to get within 50 feet of people talking about the show without knowing this. I am very happy that this is a thing but also it's definitely a spoiler so
they are canonically gfs and that is why the series has been cancelled. Why does this keep happening
I'm not sure about the girl's name but I sure do know the ship name! It's "lumity". Also I think her name might be Amity?
sometimes she has green hair and sometimes she has purple hair. I think she just changes her hair colour at some point? I don't know why though
I do remember seeing her in the ED at the end of the first episode so I assume she'll show up early on
she has a family, but that's all I know about that. I don't even know how much of a family she has
she has a last name, but I don't remember what it is, just that she has one
based on what I know about her, I think I will like her
there's a guy with like, white-blonde hair? I thought he had yellow eyes but my siblings have assured me that that is definitely not the case. I'm pretty sure that Eda has yellow eyes though so maybe that's where the confusion came from
anyway his name is Hunter. He's an antagonist but he's sad and everyone loves him. I think he's working for a bigger bad guy? no details on that though
he might also be called the "golden guard" or something like that? One of these names is definitely a spoiler
based on what I know about him, I think I will like him
one time I saw people talking about an episode that had just released. It was something about a lake. I think that the other girl might've been in the episode, but I don't recall anything else (I believe I was officially trying to avoid spoilers at that point, but...... badly)
my siblings made a joke about owls being fried?? and insisted that I include that in this list. I do not think that this a legitimate spoiler.
The context was I was asking them to not spoil me since both of them have watched this show. I’m not sure if the context helps though
So that’s everything that I can think of off the top of my head. It may look like a lot (and it probably is a lot) but the way I see it, it’s mostly vague information about characters. I know very little about what actually happens in the story, and the worst that’s liable to happen is I’ll probably be nicer to certain characters than I might be if I didn’t know anything about them.
Also, I wouldn’t count this as a spoiler, but I have been assured by my siblings, who know my taste in media very well, that I will enjoy this series. I’m definitely looking forward to watching it!
#wingsy liveblogs#wingsy watches owl house#I don't think my posts are showing up in the tags yet#less stressful but... a little discouraging#still going to keep my tags minimal on most posts#anyway I've checked the Disney+ page for the show since writing this#and have confirmation on all main characters' names#but that's about it#and yes this does mean I'll technically be REwatching the first episode#but everything else is new to me!#the liveblog spoiler tag

Well, this is the hardest thing to say, but June 16th 2022, this blog is officially archived.
I never thought I’d be saying that here, and to be honest, if you would’ve told past me that, I probably would’ve vehemently denied and covered my ears.
However, I do think I’m at a point with this blog where there’s no more I can do. We b-are b-ears is over. The only exisiting material left is the spinoff, (Which I’m really not a fan for, but I’m not the demographic for that to be fair to it.)
I’ll give my feelings in the read more, but here’s one last art I made as a parting gift.
For the time I’ve played Panda here it’s been a rollercoaster. From all of the rp blogs I’ve had, this was the most personal one out of all of them.
I was cringe, I went through so many fandoms/phases on here, got into so many crossover fun that I’ll never ever forget. Despite the mild turbulent moments, I’m so glad the GF fandom took in a little weird guy rp’er like me.
I just got into Gravity Falls towards the end , but even though I was real late, and missed alot of hype moments, I still was welcomed, and loved, and I’ll never forget the memories given for that.
While there were was a really hard period on here, that I don’t want to even get into/address any specfics at this point, the situation or the person isn’t why I’m leaving at all.
It’s not even due to anyone or anything.
I’m just at a point, where I feel like Panda, well my Panda grew with me through all of the changes/hard times that happened in my life.
When I was being bullied and harrassed by some really jerks IRL, who were trying to find all of my stuff online as well, Panda was a huge comfort and a centering point for me and my anxieties.
The community here, and this character really made me feel safe, and he made me feel loved no matter what.
And, he’s the reason I’ve met alot of amazing rp’ers and even made a best friend that I hold dearly, and still regularly talk to through discord. And I want all my mutuals to know I love them, and I wish nothing but the best for them going forward.
However, as I took breaks and hiatuses, and found new muse(s), whenever I come back it doesn’t feel the same anymore. At first I was worried, and insistent I had to find something new, to make him interesting and writeable again.
However, I realized, I don’t really need Panda for the comfort like I used to anymore. He’s grown up and developed as much as I could give, and I’ve moved on.
And that’s the hardest thing, because god it hurts. But, I don’t have the energy I used to. I’m not as vibrant and eager to meet a bunch of new people, and promote myself, and my connection with Panda I feel is at a stand still, but it isn’t a bad thing.
I’m actually a teary mess trying to collect my thoughts here, so I’ll think I’ll just end it on, goodbye.
It was a fun ride while it lasted. And I send you all my love.

GF & MvsM - Wanna Talk About Dinos?
This crossover was inevitable. It just works too well. Maybe one day i’ll write a fic about how the folks at Gravity Falls handled the robot-apocalypse. Probably shrugged it off. “Eh. We’ve had worse.” Haha! What if Stan and Ford, cuz they were out sailing, had no clue what happened and when they came back they were like, “Wait, what?”
For now, please enjoy this fic of Aaron making a new friend...
(credit goes to @stephreynaart for her OC Jacob) ~~~~~~~~~~ “Hi, would you like to talk to me about dinosaurs?”
Aaron asked this question more times than he could keep track of, but that wasn’t going to stop him from asking it. It started as a dare from his big sister two years ago, but now it’s a fun hobby. When fifth grade isn’t overwhelming him, scaring him with mountains of homework and horror stories about how hard middle school is going to be, and when he’s run out of YouTube videos to catch up on, he is on the hunt for fellow giant-lizard-lovers like a hungry Ceratosaurus.
“No, okay bye.” But it did get a little tiring to always cross out names and phone-numbers on the phone book with red ink. Hey, a dinosaur of a way to find phone-numbers was appropriate. He read the next number, dialed it, and after a ring or two he asked, “How would you like to talk with me about dinosaurs? No, okay thank you.”
Aaron crossed out another name and sighed, taking a break since he reached the end of a line of numbers. Maybe he should just be grateful for Abbey and accept that no one else wants to talk about the Jurassic Period. Or the Cretaceous Period. Or the Triassic Period. But then a big, old, gray-tinted ad distracted him. He grinned, thinking it would at least be fun to give them a call, and he dialed the number.
Private home phone-numbers were fun, but businesses were also fun! Poor, bored workers would gladly talk to him rather than crabby Karens, and they got paid for it! So Aaron smiled as the phone rang, and he grinned when someone picked up.
“Thanks for calling the Mystery Shack, you’re talking to Mr. Mystery himself! How may I befuddle or bewilder you?”
“Hi! How would you like to talk with me about dinosaurs?”
“Oh, dude! I’d love to, but I’m scheduled for a tour of the Oddity Museum in three minutes.” The man said, and Aaron grinned continuously, because it sounded like Mr. Mystery really wanted to talk with him about dinosaurs. “But hey! Can you hold on for one minute, I think I know a guy!”
“Yeah, sure mister!” And Aaron was greeted by the sound of a catchy jingle about buying t-shirts and mugs and snowglobes. He smiled and wiggled his feet along to the music as he looked outside at the beautiful late-fall afternoon, entertained while he waited.
~~~~~~~~~~
Soos was on the hunt. He planned out the house in his head. Abuelita was taking a nap upstairs, Melody was organizing the upcoming tour, and Stan took Jacob out for ice cream, so he might be…
The owner of the Shack grinned when he stopped at the doorway and saw the man he was looking for, sitting in Stan’s chair, reading a book.
“Uncle Ford!”
The old sailor smiled up at the young man. “Yes, wh-...”
“Do you think you could answer the phone for me? I have a tour and I think this customer’s request is right up your alley.”
“Uh… sure, but w-...”
“Thanks, you’re the best!” And Soos was gone before he could address Ford’s confusion.
Ford was a bit lost, having little to no business with business, but he had learned at this point to trust Soos, so he picked up the phone beside him and was immediately greeted with a sweet, “How would you like to talk with me about dinosaurs?”
Ford grinned and closed his book. “I would love to! All three periods are equally as fascinating to study, but the Triassic contains some of my favorite dinosaurs!”
A young voice gasped on the other line. “Mine, too! Everyone thinks the Jurassic period is so great, and it’s pretty cool, but the Triassic gave us Plateosaurus and the Brachiosaurus!”
“That’s very true! You know, it’s very interesting, maybe depictions don’t include feathers at all, which is a bit frustrating, but perhaps after the news has spread they will incorporate more feathers on merchandise and textbooks.”
“YES! That’s what I wanna do when I grow up, help draw better-accurate dinosaurs!”
~~~~~~~~~~
The phone rang on Sunday. The Shack was closed today, so Stan lazily answered it and was greeted with, “Wanna talk about dinosaurs?”
“Sixer, phone for you!”
Ford ran into the living room, elbowed his twin out of the chair, and took the phone. “Hello again, Aaron! Now, where were we? Right, so Australopithecus. … No, I don’t think… Oh! No, homo habilis was erect, Australopithecus was never fully erect.”
“Maybe he was nervous.” Stan groaned, getting to his feet.
Ford shot him a look as thankfully the young boy on the other end didn’t catch that and happily shared some more fun-facts about homo habilis.
~~~~~~~~~~
While most college students were excited for Spring Break so they could get drunk or lose their virginity, Katie was excited because her family had planned a special secret roadtrip. She was careful to keep up with her family and talk to her parents and brother frequently, but Aaron had a hobby he wasn’t talking about that his parents found out and were thrilled about. Aaron had made another friend.
Rick and Katie did some research and the tourist attraction sounded right up their alley! In the middle of the woods, tons of weird stuff, and a fun roadtrip filled with diners and attractions. They decided to surprise Aaron, and they made up a lie that they would spend Spring Break in California with Katie so she could show her family around San Francisco, when in actuality they would be traveling up the state to the Redwood Highway and see the oddity place, and maybe even allow Aaron to meet his new pen-pal. Or, um, phone-pal.
So after bombarding Katie with hugs the Mitchells threw her luggage into the car and drove off. Aaron turned to Katie and excitingly asked, “So where are we going first? Can we go fix the Golden Gate bridge by painting it gold?”
Katie laughed and ruffled his hair. “Maybe later, right now I wanna show you guys this fun store right outside of town. Here, check out the videos I made for my classes!” And she pulled out some airpods and gave one to Aaron.
“Cool!”
Rick and Linda smirked at each other as they drove north. By the time they reached a little diner in Redding, CA, it was very clear to Aaron that they weren’t in San Francisco anymore. “Come on, just tell me where we’re going!” The boy begged as he fed Monchi a fry.
“The best kind of prizes are the surprises.” Linda quoted.
“Eric, Deborahbot5000, where are we going?”
“Sorry, Aaron, we cannot give that information.” Eric said, he and the other robot sitting politely in their seats, happy to be a part of the social interaction.
“Yes, Mother will bury us if we disobey.” Deborahbot said matter-of-factly.
“What?! No I won’t, sweeties.”
“Won’t you ground us?”
The family laughed and Aaron let the topic go; if he was honest, he loved a good surprise. The big family stopped in a motel just at the California-Oregon border, and the next morning after muffins and coffee and orange juice they were on the road again, passing dozens of trees that made Rick feel at home. Katie happily recorded the trip, trusted to be the documenter for another fun roadtrip, with hopefully not as much mortal peril.
Aaron watched as they left the highway for a simple road, and they passed a big sign. The boy gasped and caught what was happening. “No WAY! Really?!”
“You know, I hear this Mystery Shack even has a Sasquatch.” Rick commented while Linda pulled out a pamphlet from the glove box.
“It says here it’s full of odd things you’ll never see anywhere else, even a dinosaur footprint…”
“Wasn’t there a rumor of there being a Bottomless Pit?” Katie asked, pointing her camera at Aaron to get his reaction.
“Thank you thank you THANK YOU!!!” Aaron cheered, hugging his Dad’s neck and kissing his Mom’s cheek.
“Hey, no worries, buddy.” Rick eased, fixing his shewed glasses. “We wanted to see this place, too!”
“Why don’t we eat a quick lunch and then we’ll take the backroad for the attraction? There’s a coupon in here for a diner made from a giant log!”
And so after being served by a pretty blonde teenager at Greasy’s, they drove through town to get to the backroad. Signs made them confident that they were going the correct way, as well as Eric and Deborahbot5000’s GPS. Then as they turned a corner, a big triangle-shaped building came into view. Aaron grinned at the giant sign with a missing letter. People were already leaving, arms full of souvenirs and one or two already wearing their new hats or t-shirts. Once Rick parked in the Free Parking Lot, Aaron spilled out of the car and ran for the shack, but he stopped.
Katie caught up to him and patted his back. “You cool, man?”
Aaron shrugged, holding his hands in front of him and his shoulders up to hide his face a bit. “I-I dunno… What if… What if he doesn’t like me?”
“Hey, I get it.” Katie admitted. “When I first met my friends I was really nervous. I had talked to them online for weeks and I was worried it wasn’t gonna be what it was all cracked up to be, but it was. Your system worked! You found another dino-lover! You earned this moment. Just take in a deep breath and be yourself, cuz you’re a pretty cool dude.”
Aaron smiled up at his big sister. “Thanks.”
Trusting Eric and Deborahbot5000 to watch Monchi and make sure he used the bathroom, the Mitchells went inside the shack. On the porch there was an ice cooler, a sign reading schedule times for tours of the Oddity Museum, a Help Wanted sign, and two rocking chairs with a game of checkers between them.
Inside the store a few customers filled up the gift shop, alongside t-shirts, snowglobes, a vending machine, a door beside ti that read Employees Only, a bookshelf full of comic on one side and old newspapers claiming alien sightings on the other, a fish tank holding a monkey-mermaid, and barrels full of spaceship keychains and dino claws. A new section called Camping Stuff caught Rick’s eye, selling backpacks, lanterns, flashlights, batteries, canteens, and compasses. Katie opened a comic called Lil’Stanley and laughed at the swears, taking a pic and sending it to her friends’ group chat. Linda looked into the barrel full of patches and grinned at all the fun designs, while Aaron stared happily at the mer-monkey.
The Employees Only door opened and closed and Rick watched as a man in a suit, fez, and eyepatch walked up to the lady at the register and kissed her cheek. The woman smiled lovingly and left while the guy who resembled a gopher checked a customer out. Rick waited until the buyer left to approach the register, leaning an arm on the counter.
“Welcome to the Mystery Shack, dude!”
“Thanks! So, this is gonna sound weird, but my son Aaron talks to a guy here about dinosaurs…”
“No way!” The owner interrupted excitedly. “Good to see you, dudes! I’m Mr. Mystery! Wow, you guys came a long way, huh?”
“Nah, only from California. My daughter is attending art school there.”
While the men chit-chatted and Linda joined them, Katie noticed a guy walking up to Aaron and looking at the mer-monkey. She smiled and tried to read the comic without being too nosy, but she kept her senses on her brother.
“Hm, quite fascinating, isn’t it?” The man in the blue hoodie said. “But I think my favorite is the fossilized footprint. Could be Nanuqsaurus hoglundi.”
“The Polar Bear Lizard?” Aaron clarified, touching his chin as he looked at the dino-print, his back to the man he was talking to. “Maybe, but they’re from Alaska. It’s possible plate tectonics did cause some fossils to be relocated here, but it could also be a Nanotyrannosaurus lancensis footprint.”
“The Dwarf Tyrant? Could very well be. Would you like to talk about dinosaurs after your tour?”
Aaron’s eyes widened as the voice was finally familiar to him. He turned and looked up to find an old man smiling up at him. He had fluffy gray hair with a white stripe running around his scalp, wrinkles by his eyes due to smiling, a cleft chin, glasses, and wore a blue hoodie with a maroon sweater underneath. His hands were behind his back and he smiled down at Aaron warmly, while the boy was jittery and overly-excited. He took in a sharp breath and had to fight every muscle to keep from leaping through the screen door.
“H-H-Hi…” He peeped. He cleared his throat and tried again. “Y-Yeah, sure! I’d love to! I’m Aaron! Er, wait, you already knew that.” And he held out a hand to shake.
His phone-pal, Ford, chuckled and got on one knee to be eye-level. “Greeting, Aaron! It’s nice to formally meet you.”
Aaron shook his hand and noticed something. He had six fingers on his right hand. A quick glance told Aaron he also had six fingers on his left hand. Aaron grinned with sparkling eyes at his new friend, while the old sailor smiled warmly at the boy that reminds him of his niece and nephew when they were young.
For your ask game, 1, 2, and 4.
1. Tell us about your current project(s) – what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it?
Right now, the project I'm focusing on the most is the Fuel to the Fire AU, a large crossover AU where one of my object OCs has become a huge eldritch abomination that has consumed millions of universes (some of which won't be seen for obvious reasons), and chaos ensues because everyone who has been consumed needs to survive. Admittedly, progress is a little slow due to me hitting a huge hurdle in motivation, but I will say I love how I get to explore multiple different concepts in it and how all the characters from these different series interact with each other in this high-stakes situation.
2. Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project
So, I recently created an AU I'm calling the "Perfectly Standard Elevator" AU, in which 1 protagonist each from 8 Disney cartoons (specifically The Ghost and Molly McGee, The Owl House, Amphibia, Big City Greens, DuckTales (2017), Star vs. The Forces of Evil, Gravity Falls, and Wander over Yonder) are kidnapped and forced to go through an almost-comically long elevator. I'm particularly looking forward to writing Cricket and Molly's scenes, since they're the characters in which I have the most solid idea for their plotlines and they have a pretty interesting dynamic in the AU.
4. Share a sentence or paragraph from your writing that you’re really proud of (explain why, if you like)
Here's a part of an unfinished chapter of the Fuel to the Fire AU that I'm pretty proud of:
"Libby frantically looked through the pages of Molly’s journal, trying to piece together what had happened.
Most of the pages were either filled with fun doodles of herself, Scratch, Libby, or other stuff, or random writings about things she saw or her feelings at the time. However, at the end sat this entry:
How was I supposed to know it was POISON? That guy gave me a bottle and told me it would help me, so I drank it. Listen, I’m sorry, okay? I didn’t know. Mom, Dad, Grandma, I hope you can deal with the loss of one of your kids and grandkids. Darryl, you were a great brother and I wouldn’t have traded you for anybody else. Andrea, I know we never got along the best, but I hope your life goes on uninterrupted. Scratch (even though I don’t know where you are right now), Libby. You guys were my best friends. I hope you can go on without me.
I’m dying. I’m dying. I’m dying. I’m dying. I’m dyi
The last “i” trailed off at the dot. Libby could only assume the worst."
I like this one because I think it shows pretty well how Molly was feeling as she wrote her final words, and I personally sort of felt the panic she was going through.
HELLA LONG VILLANOS RANT PRO/CON
Anyone else tired of checking the villanos/villainous tag on here only to be met with unpopular opinions of it? Everyone has a right to their own opinion and on some things I agree. But HS, the criticisms boil down to a couple of things.
1. It wasn't what some people were expecting. Or rather it wasn't what they wanted it to be and are giving Alan and crew flack about it. (Its basically the WandaVision theorists upset that their predictions weren't canon)
2. Nitpicky stuff they dont like, like comparing characters' color tones from them and now, background shades, the insta story lines, parodying tik tok egirls, etc.
3. The misunderstanding of just how hard this project was hit to begin with, from it being made for CNLA (not even an American property, the fact that it got to be included in V&V and the CN Nexus special is huge for what they're working with), to not comprehending how economic situations are just flat out different in Mexico than in the U.S. and literally any job there is bound have something like that (even trying to explain they know better. They don't) not to mention the pandemic threw it all off schedule. The fact its still being worked on is a miracle at this point.
4. Ultimately it is a probs that they're just impatient at this point and just want to harshly criticize to distance themselves as publicly as they can and not set themselves up for disappointment.
This is not a hate post, in fact I'm just as impatient and agree on some points (particularly the length of time it takes and how the original crew was let go.) Theres a lot more stuff going on behind the scenes
But the two absolutely, most annoying things are the constant comparisons it gets to Vivziepop's works like they're a cut better in general or as proof that a series has to be like hers. To which can be easily argued that Helluva Boss is the equivalent of the Orientation videos. In which they're not the big BIG project, but a side thing meant to introduce the world at large for Villanos and Hazbin. I've seen people say that Villainous hasn't had any original footage which is total bs, because compiling all the shorts, pilot, crossovers, promotional material, secretive material, and the orientarion videos themselves clearly knock that point down.
And secondly that these criticisms have been used to turn speculations on the behind the scenes going ons into flat out lies, as if having parts of the story or even an idea of it and making it seem like the worst alternative is the only conclusion. There was an initial account, Nightfur I believe, that did the same thing except made themselves only making positive spins on the going ons which I admit is hella weird, but Petite is essentially doing the same thing on the opposite spectrum of it and honestly equally self righteous.
I'm not saying they don't have a right to their opinions, and to a certain extent, the fact that Petite's opinions are currently the what pops up most on the Villanos tag really speaks on the lack of Villainous content so on the time management she has point. I am just saying that she doesn't have to ruin it for everyone else with (my opinion) weak hot-take criticisms.
Honestly this rant comes from a place where I do enjoy what the series has so far. Not just in the personalities of the characters, but the comedy, the fact that its a Mexican made series (which one of this size has not existed on CN, idk what others they claim exist: El Tigre and Mucha Lucha were American Studio made), the little puzzles that can be deciphered in Spanish which I like that they were that way in the beginning but can accept its going to inevitably include English too. I like this phase of pre-series decoding and deciphering, and not having to full picture yet because I want to enjoy and learn about the lore in this story bit by bit. And many do to. Others don't like it thats fine and have every right to dislike the series and make their own conclusions on what happens behind the scenes.
The rest of us are just gonna keep vibin with clues, updates, and the existing content until the show drops. I have high hopes for it. I mean OTGW took a longer time to make and become what it ultimately ended up being and don't even get me started on the Gravity Falls and Steven Universe Hiatus'.
Other than that yea. This has been held in for a while but eh just had to vent and let it out. Feels better. Have a good one.
For the ask thing: 003 for both King Candy and Dr. Facilier
003 | Give me a character & I will tell you
KING CANDY
How I feel about this character:
Sir, this is emotional support bubblegum bitch.
In all seriousness, he is pretty up there in my list of comfort characters beacuse I appreciate a villain that can be evil and silly.
All the people I ship romantically with this character:
Right now, only Madam Mim.
My non-romantic OTP for this character:
-I feel like he could be friends with Syndrome, and even help him out with schemes that require computer programming or hacking.
Also, could you imagine these two playing videogames together?
My unpopular opinion about this character:
Not really unpopular but he's by far one of the best plot twist villains on a Disney film. He was an antagonist from the start, he gave off hints that his intentions were a bit off even if he was helping the protagonist, the writing building up to his reveal worked beacuse everyone knew he was a villain... but not that he was THE villain the movie had been referencing since the very beggining.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:
King Candy somehow surviving the hot cola death and returning for the sequel.
Anything would be better than Ralph Breaks the Internet...
my het ship:
Madam Mim/King Candy
my fem/slash ship:
Don't have one.
my OTP:
Madam Mim/King Candy.. Ya'll, if you got any ships suggestions I would be more than happy to hear.
my OT3:
...
my cross over ship:
Not a romantic ship! I want him adopting both Giffany from Gravity Falls and Monika from DDLC.
Imagine this man taking these two teenagers under his wing and teaching them how to hack and destroy games so they can be loved by the players while also being a loving, goofy dad to them.
his kink:
I headcanon him as asexual so nope, none.
a head cannon fact:
One day I'll elaborate further on this beacuse I love this headcanon: When Turbo first invaded the game, he reprogrammed the code of the original King Candy and attempted to replace the King's concience with his own but it was not fully sucessful.
They were somehow like Jekyll and Hyde/Two Faces kind of situation for a couple of days, fighting for dominance until Turbo was able to eliminate most of the original KC's code. However, he's still a bit erratic, specially when he's experimenting strong emotions.
my gender bend: QUEEN CANDY-
=============================
003 | Give me a character & I will tell you
DR. FACILIER
How I feel about this character:
What can I say? I might be a bit biased but I can surely say that, even if he appeared on the 2010's, he has all the flair of a classic villain.
All the people I ship romantically with this character:
[inhales]
Hades, Maleficent, Oogie Boogie, Queen of Hearts, Jafar and Ernesto de la Cruz.
My non-romantic OTP for this character:
I like the idea of him being friends with Medusa and Ursula and making a "owner of sketchy bussiness" club.
My unpopular opinion about this character:
Can't think of one atm.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:
I would be over the moon if he somehow came back for the upcoming Tiana series. Somehow, maybe not as the main antagonist but I don't want him getting forgotten.
If Gothel could have a couple of appearances here and there in the Tangled series, I don't see why Faci shouldn't.
my het ship:
Facilier/Sarah Anderson.
my fem/slash ship:
Facilier/Hades, Facilier/Oogie
my OTP:
Oogie Boogie/Facilier
my OT3:
I have three actually!
Facilier/Sarah Sanderson/Oogie Boogie: (btw, I blame you Cali for making me like this)
Hades/Facilier/Oogie: (Jafar could also be thrown in there just for good measure.)
Ernesto/Facilier/Oogie:
my cross over ship:
Welp, any ship counts as crossover, right?
his kink:
Light bdsm, voodoo, teasing
a head cannon fact:
His name is Floyd Facilier.
That;s it, I liked the sound of it so I decided to make that his headcanon name.
my gender bend: Heck yeah, I would take him in any gender.
Interview with a Fic Writer
Tagged by @novantinuum, thank you!
__
How many works do you have on AO3?
242 works. The actual fuck??? Wow, me. Of course, this does span about 9 years, so I guess that's not that insane?
What’s your total word count on AO3
549,737! But that averages out to only 2271 words per story, haha. You got me! I think I have less than 10 fics that have more than 1 chapter. I love one-shots, what can I say?
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Oh, you want to get into this? All right. We'll get into this:
The X-Files, proto-fandom, ur-fandom, first OTP ever... yeah, 15-year-old me went. WILD. Many horrible Mulder/Scully stories, and some Doggett/Scully and character study stories as well. Mostly not very good, but with occasional flashes of decent writing. Really had a difficult time writing romantic feelings between 30+ year-olds given a) I did not date in high school and b) was 17 and not an emotionally stunted FBI agent.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer - not a huge volume of stories, but definitely some very angsty Spuffy and Spike tales.
Harry Potter - just one published fic (Lupin grieving Sirius), and one with Snape and Harry having a heart to heart I could never quite get right.
Then came the dark times (vet school) where I was exhausted and hard at work for a few years and I thought, horribly, I might have outgrown fandom. Thank god for...
X-Men First Class and the undying love of Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr! I'd never fallen for a slash ship before but my god I fell hard for this one and wrote my first fandom smut and my first real AU (mutants with zombies) that I never finished.
Then.... let's see...
Quantum Leap drabbles!
Two Avatar the Last Airbender fics!
Agents of SHIELD fics, mostly focused on Coulson and FitzSimmons, and super angsty.
Bioshock Infinite sads (god I love writing the sad bad dad)!
And then the juggernauts of Mass Effect (my longest fic to date with 30 chapters!) and Dragon Age, which were endlessly productive and are still productive given the variety of different protagonists you can create, different choices, and different relationships to canon characters. I'm still working on a Hawke/Varric fic in the back of my mind here.
There's one random Gravity Falls fic (wish I could have got a little more obsessed with it, or gotten into it while it aired) of Stan sads, and one tiny Avengers ficlet of a sad Tony and Peter.
There's one Wheel of Time fic! Dammit I wanted Rand and Tam to reunite so much sooner than they did.
40-odd Steven Universe fics! So many SU fics!
One random Schitt's Creek fic of David and Patrick!
And finally, The Mandalorian, with 47 fics. Phew!!!
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. The Invitation, The Mandalorian. Din Djarin finds himself in dreams that seem realer than real, reminding him of his loss, but he begins to find a sense of hope again. A promise is kept.
2. The Outstretched Hand, The Mandalorian. Din Djarin is a man of action, but sometimes, the quiet finds its way in. Din reckons with the aftermath of the events of Chapter 14, the Tragedy. (My very first Mando fic!)
3. Not the Sentimental Type, Steven Universe. Priyanka Maheswaran has long prided herself on keeping her emotions in check. But a mother's love can only grow, and sometimes it expands to people she never anticipated. Like the Universe boy.
4. Translation, The Mandalorian. Din Djarin was a man of few words, but many languages. Some might have thought the Child had no language at all. Din Djarin and the Child grow to understand each other.
5. Full Disclosure, Steven Universe. Just as the world begins to recover from Spinel's attack, Steven starts having nightmares. The more he ignores his fears, the worse they become, until he's left with no other choice but to ask for help. (My thoughts on what would drive Steven Universe Future, and I wasn't far off.)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I really try to! Even sometimes years later if I realize I've missed some. I appreciate each and every one, and have definitely made friendships through comments <3
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Oh, hell... I'm too lazy to link these but if anyone wants to read them let me know or find them on my AO3!
A Stopped Clock from Bioshock Infinite has Booker DeWitt ravaged by Korsakoff's amnesia from his long-standing alcoholism. Is Columbia real or imagined? Hard to say.
The Viscount's Way shows Varric Tethras having become his parent, and a cruel, hard viscount of Kirkwall.
Songs in the Key of Red shows how Cullen fared under the dark future in Redcliffe in DAI, and they write happy endings, don't they? shows what happened to Varric. Both horribly depressing in different ways!
Two by Two, Hands of Blue shows a not unexpected end to lyrium addiction :( Poor Cullen, he got a lot of angsty developments, didn't he?
Do you write crossovers? If so, what’s the craziest thing you’ve ever written?
Never really got into crossovers or AUs. Just... meh for me!
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
No, I don't think so.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Charles/Erik, Shepard/Garrus, Shepard/Liara, Shepard/Tali, a mess of different f/f femShep drabbles, and most of my Dragon Age pairings have gotten sexytimes. On the other hand I helped start the NoRomo Mando tag for the Mandalorian to help find non-pairing Mandalorian content. Depends on the pairing and the fandom, for sure.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope, thank goodness!
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I think so! There used to be a Spanish-language wiki linking to some of my old X-Files stories XD
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, but friends and I definitely will beta each others' things to help with sticky points.
What’s your all-time favorite ship?
ALL-TIME? Just, why? So many ships I loved in years past turned out to have pretty damn problematic elements I didn't see at the time, so it's hard to say... Mulder/Scully actually has a ton of issues, Buffy/Spike obviously has issues... so maybe Hawke/Varric (except not canon!) or Garrus/Shepard or Brosca/Alistair.
What’s a WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Still need to finish my Hawke/Varric fic for after Adamant! I have 3 chapters written that I haven't posted. Maybe posting them will help inspire me....
What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue and POV writing from different characters; I feel fantastic writing Steven and Greg, though totally at sea trying to write from Connie's POV, randomly. But I think my dialogue and emotional beats are what people tend to tune in for. When I do write romance, it's usually very sweet and silly and pulled from life. I also love writing nature scenes and settings to help establish mood. Mood and emotion and catharsis are my bread and butter, and I like my poetic prose.
What are your writing weaknesses?
What the hell is a long, well-thought-out plot? Like what even is that???? My longest fic with 30 chapters is basically "Shepard has PTSD and hangs out with her crew. They have some funerals." THAT'S IT. How the heck people actually come up with plot that ties into the lore of a fandom I genuinely have no idea and it's the biggest thing that's held me back from finishing original work. I can come up with a setting and characters and then trying to make them do stuff that's more than just talking to other characters and deepening their relationships with them... how the fuck???
I also definitely have 10-20 words that I am in constant danger of reusing like every other paragraph, LOL!
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I don't speak any other languages so I always avoid it as much as possible. I've seen people describe sign differently in fics and picked one way to depict it that made sense to me for Grogu, but that's about it.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
The X-Files, of course!
What’s your favorite fic you’ve ever written?
Towards Another Day, the tale of how Cullen went from being a templar in Kirkwall to commander of the Inquisition, is definitely up there.
Reverberations is one of my rare multi-chaptered fics and one of my favorite for the catharsis at the end. It makes me tear up every time. 5 times Din and Grogu encounter the Dark Side, and one time they find the Light.
Either a world for the birds (Steven develops a closer relationship with his Uncle Andy, learning birdwatching along the way) or on the subject of rocks (Steven and Jasper finally reach a peace) might take the prize for favorite SU fic.
Okay, here a some reasons why add some Disney Characters and locations in Amphibia: Calamity War…..
• Mickey Mouse
The reason I add Mickey and his friends is because not only that he lives Toontown that’s close to Hollywood, but it was all started with a mouse when I made a prologue where Anne, Sasha, and Marcy as younger kids when through the looking glass at the art museum where they ended up in the Sorcerer’s Workshop and I’m planning to adding the part where Mickey and Friends dressed up in sorcerer outfit for promotional of D23 Expo in 2011.
That’s how Mickey discovered the girls and escort them back to the museum and promised them to keep a secret. Eight years later when Mickey made an announcement for search party when they heard the rumors, but then there’s a flash and they witnessed that Anne and the Plantars lying unconscious until they woke up and see where they at now and that’s why both Anne and Mickey know each other.
• Stitch
Here’s another reason why I add Stitch to be part of my fan story is because it involves frog. When Stitch crash landed in Hawaii during the rain, he encountered with a frog and pointing out his laser guns at it which he didn’t understand until he got ran over by some trucks.
During the flight chase when Stitch fell out from Gantu’s ship and land fainted right next to frog that he encountered. The frog jumped on Stitch and looked up in the curiously while Stitch woke up. He grab the frog and jumped out of the way before being blasted by Gantu. He set the frog down and prepare to grab the truck while the frog hops away.
That’s when I’ll add the part of the chapter where Stitch first encountered with Anne and Sprig since he familiar with frogs and started to grown fond of Sprig thus making Anne laugh at him in a cute way.
• Phineas and Ferb
Another reason is why do you ask? For example, if Phineas and Ferb The Movie came out in 2020 on Disney Plus, why not I add the cast of Tri-State Area at “Walt Disney Studios” as they retelling their story where Candace and Vanessa was abducted by aliens meaning Phineas, Ferb, Isabella, Baljeet, Buford, and Doofenshmirtz have to go into space and rescue the girls from the aliens clutches.
I can also add the part of the chapter where Anne and Sprig have met the kids at the studio while went looking for Polly.
• Gravity Falls
For those who are big fan of Gravity Falls already knows that Bill Cipher made cameo appearances at beginning of “True Colors” where Marcy is reading the book of “Dr. P’s”.
If my theory is correct either Stanford Pines or the Plantars ancestors. Also I’m going to add the part where Dipper and Mabel meet Anne at her house to talk about the history of the multiverse like Amphibia for example.
• Timon and Pumbaa
There’s one thing that you should be aware of. One, Timon and Pumbaa are my favorite characters from The Lion King and two, the reason that I will add them in my fan story was because not just for bugs that they like to eat, but they are the best of friends who will do anything for any characters.
This part of the chapter where Timon and Pumbaa met Anne and Sprig in the park when she’s feeling down about her past. They taught her to put her past behind her and sings Hakuna Matata to her. And also for bugs, Sprig told them that there are plenty of bugs from Amphibia and they were amazed for all the buffet they can eat, except some giant bugs that are pets or dangerous beasts.
• Princess and the Frog
Now that you’re aware when both Tiana and Naveen have been turned into frogs thanks to Dr. Facilier’s spell and they have to learn to work together and soon they fall in love once they kissed, the spell is broken.
For future chapter when Tiana had met Anne and the Plantars when they are at the park and sings “Dig A Little Deeper” to Anne about her memories from the past. Speaking of the shadow man, he was voice played by Keith David who voiced many characters including King Andrias.
• Disney Villains
The reason why I add most villains is because not just that is like from “Kingdom Hearts” or “Kingdom Keepers”, but is kinda like from a night show called “Villains Unite the Night” at the Magic Kingdom during Disney Villains After Hours. The villains I will add as main antagonists are Maleficent, The Queen, Ursula, Dr. Facilier, Jafar, Hades, and Chernabog.
Also the reasons why I add Maleficent as the main antagonist in my fan story since she was voiced by Susanne Blakesee who voiced many characters including Valeriana from Amphibia and also that part how Maleficent became obsessed with the Calamity Box that can travel to another world or another.
• Disneyland
And now that you already know when the original Disneyland was first opened in California. That gives me an idea when Anne and her parents took the Plantars with to visit Disneyland not just for fun, but keeping her happy from being sad since she recalls what happened back in Amphibia. If only I wish it was real for the future episodes for next year.
Now that’s why I became obsessed with crossover back when I was a kid and I hope you understand what I am saying. Please let me know if you ask me questions and there will be NO hate comments or offensive image. I’ll let you know when I’m ready to published my fan story at FanFiction website. See yah soon.
Don’t Go Running Off Into Danger, Even If I Do
Randon idea for a DP (Danny Phantom) GF (Gravity Falls) crossover. I’ve been browsing Tumblr tags for way too long and whatever. This, unlike the neighbourhood phantom fic from earlier, will have multiple chapters. Also, Danny is sixteen and Dipper and Mabel are fouteen.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter One
The fight with Skulker was a long one. Maybe that was an understatement. Sam and Tucker were both out of town and he was stuck with Wes and the ghosts alone. Well, Wes wasn’t exactly an issue, but if he somehow got proof, Danny would be in a pickle. He set down in the alleyway and stared at the tattered remains of his jumpsuit. Whatever. Street clothes Phantom would have to do for now. Danny sighed and the glaringly visible binder. At least Skulker hadn’t seen. With a twirl of his fingers, the tattered jumpsuit becam a pullover hoodie with the Phantom logo and ripped jeans. Once the clothing change was done and it didn’t seem like anyone was watching, he transformed. As his luck would have it, he heard a gasp. Luckily, it wasn’t someone he knew.
~~~~~~~~~
Mabel and Dipper had just moved to Amity Park to live with their Aunt Molly. Dipper was excited because he’d heard that there was a lot of paranormal activity here. Mostly ghosts but still. What he wasn’t expecting was to see a boy with white hair wearing a black sweatshirt turn into one with black hair and a red tee. Both he and Mabel gasped. The boy cursed under his breath and turned around. “Oh thank god. At least you aren’t anyone who knows me. Welcome to Amity Park!” The boy seemed stressed. “What was that! That’s so cool!” Dipper said excitedly. “Listen, I’ll tell you, but you gotta promise to keep it a secret. What do you know about Amity so far?” “Just that it’s a hotspot for paranormal activity, nothing like Gravity Falls, but alot happens here,” Dipper said and pulled out the journal to write info down. “I don’t really know what Gravity Falls is, but Amity is a hotspot for ghosts. Mostly cause my parent made a portal in the basement of my house. So, you know nothing about Danny Phantom?” “I think I might’ve heard rumours on the street?” Mabel says. She was staring at the boy. Great, a new crush. “Well, Danny Phantom, who just so happens to be my alter ego, goes around dealing with the ghost threats and making sure Amity doesn’t get completely destroyed. My name’s Danny Fenton by the way,” “Don’t you think that’s kinda obvious?” Dipper scribbled a picture of Danny into the journal. “Nah. Even my own parents don’t know, and they’re the ‘leading experts’ in the field of ectobiology and ghost hunting,” “The what now?” Mabel said. “Study of ghosts. Heck, the portal wouldn’t even be open if I hadn’t half died when turing it on,” Danny laughed. “You died?” Mabel stared at him. “Yes and no. Nobody knows Danny Phantom is only half ghost except fucking Vlad and the rest of the ghosts,” “Who’s Vlad?” Dipper was curious. “Ah, Vlad Masters. Mayor of Amity Park. Pretentious billionare. Creep trying to get into my mom’s pants. Oh, and Plasmious on the side. Could you believe that my parents created two half ghosts?” “We let a dream demon into our world a couple summers ago,” Mabel said. “Mabel, that violates the Never Mind All That Act,” “He’s been through weird stuff too!” “I mean, I fought an all powerful ghost king that sucked Amity into the Ghost Zone,” “Fair enough,” Dipper conceded. Danny looked down at his watch. “Listen, I’d love to stay and chat, but I’m gonna miss curfew. And Skulker needs to go home before he figures out a way out of the Fenton Thermos,” “Wait! Where can we find you?” “Look for the big glowing FentonWorks sign. It’s impossible to miss. And don’t mention the Phantom thing to my parents. They want to rip me apart molecule by molecule as is!” “Are you sure that’s enough direction?” Dipper was skeptical. “You couldn’t miss FentonWorks if you wanted to,” He laughed and ran off. Dipper had half a thought to follow him, but they had to get to Aunt Molly’s.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Danny ran to FentonWorks. He probably would’ve flown if he’s though of it or if he wasn’t concerned about getting caught. The kids weren’t from Amity at least. He managed to get in just as his curfew alarm went off. “Daniel, you almost missed curfew!” his Mom said. “Yeah, but I didn’t!” Danny said triumphantly. “No, I suppose you didn’t,” She sighed and went back to whatever blueprints she was drawing up. If it mattered, he’d find out. Once he was certain she was distracted, he went down to the lab and stuck the thermos in the attachment. “Dann-o! You catch a ghost?” Fuck. Danny turned to his dad. “Nah. But I left my thermos out accidentally. I put it in just in case someone caught one with it,” He was getting way too good at lying. “Oh well. It’s good to see you got back in time,” Dad pulled Danny into a bone crushing hug. “Dad! I gotta get my binder off before you can break my ribs!” Dannt squeaked out. “Oh right. Sorry Dann-o. Go get changed,” Dad put Danny down and gave him a slap on the back. Ow. Danny rushed upstairs. He wrangled the binder off and flopped back on the bed once he put his shirt back on. Jazz poked her head in. “Hi Danny!” She said cheerily. “Sup, Jazz Spazz,” He sat up. He had a burn on his thigh from the fight. “Keep in mind only you can call me that. Finally catch ‘Ghost X’?” She said. Danny snorted. “I’m going to kill you if you call Skulker that seriously ever again. Yeah, I caught him. A couple of newbies saw me transform though. Now I have to explain stuff to them so they keep my secret,” “Well, at least they won’t tell!” “Jazz, always looking on the bright side,” Danny pretend narrated. They both giggled. “Well, Mom and Dad are gonna be out giving protection to the people tonight,” “Planning sesh! Yes. I can fix the jumpsuit,” “Oh geez, what happened to it?” “Just got shredded. Skulker didn’t see anything, but still,” “Oh. I’ll get the sewing supplies,” She walked into her room.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dipper and Mabel walked into Aunt Molly’s house. “Hey kids! Glad to see you got here in one piece!” She rushed over to them and kissed their heads. “Yup. We’re here. Hey, Aunt Molly, do you know where FentonWorks is? We met someone who said they lived there today,” Mabel said. “Oh, that eyesore. Nothing against Jack and Maddie, but they could really use some decorating help. Who did you talk to? Jazz or Danny?” “Does everyone in town know them or something?” Dipper was shocked. “Well of course. Fenton tech is the best protection from ghosts other than Phantom,” “Well, it was a guy, so Danny I’m guessing,” Mabel said. Of course it was Danny. “Ah, Daniel. Poor kid. Dash Baxter needs to leave him alone. Runs at the sight of a ghost. If you ever need to get to his place, I can give you a ride,” Molly sighed. Dipper would’ve thought more in depth about it if there wasn’t a loud knock on the door. “That must be the Fentons. I forgot it was safety tech day,” She opened the door. A man in an orange jumpsuit came in. He was massive. But the black hair and blue eyes were recognizable. A woman came in behind him. She was in a teal jumpsuit. “Jack, Maddie! Come in. These are my neice and nephew, Mason and Mabel,” “Can you call me Dipper?” He turned to Molly. “I thought you would at least introduce yourself formally,” Molly sighed. “Ah, new kids. Remember kids, if you see the menice of that ghost boy, you stay clear. Town might make him out to be a hero, but he’s not!” Jack said. Dipper and Mabel exchanged a look. Poor Danny. “Alright, that’s not why we’re here. Do you want a ghost shield to keep the kids safe Molly?” Maddie pulled out a strange contraption. “You know, that doesn’t sound like a horrible plan. I don’t know why you bother with yours when you have a portal in your basement,” “We close the portal most times,” Maddie seemed offended. “Oh well. I’ll take a few lipstick lazer and wrist blasters with that,” Molly placed the contraption on the shelf and Maddie pulled some lipsticks and weird blaster thingies out of her bag. The Fentons left. “Don’t listen to them about Phantom. They have prejudices against him for no reason. He’s saved our town too many times to count. The least they can do is stop threatening to dissect him!” Molly scoffed. Dipper went pale. But he didn’t have time to think about it. They had school in the morning.

The Mystery Shack Spooks -Part 1
Summary: Elle Fenton had hoped for a normal summer, a chance to make normal friends with people who know nothing about her crazy family, ghosts, or, most importantly, her status as a clone. But ghosts always seem to find her, even in Gravity Falls. Now the Mystery Shack is haunted by a unknown apparition with an unknown connection to Dipper and Mabel, and to Elle herself. The half ghost struggles to open up to her new friends and to find a way to help this lonely ghost.
Part 1(Here) -> Part 2 -> Part 3 -> Part 4 -> Part 5
Also on AO3 and fanfiction.net
Note: Welcome to my Holiday Truce Story! My giftee was @deuynndoodles who asked for a Gravity Falls crossover and some clone angst so I came up with this. It's my first crossover and I've never written anything for Gravity Falls before so I hope I did Dipper and Mabel justice. I'll also note, this story turned into a bit of a monster so here's part 1 but I have a lot more written. Part 2 will be posted in a few days.
Elle’s life was weird. It’s not surprising, considering who and what the apparent thirteen year old was. The half ghost clone of another half ghost, made in a lab by yet another half ghost. A clone who’d been adopted by her original’s ghost hunting parents after Danny told them about his powers. It was enough to give anyone a headache….and the occasional identity crisis.
All the same, Elle was happy. Jack and Maddie Fenton, her new parents, were great- loving, supportive, striving to understand her. Her siblings, Jazz and Danny, were wonderful- both fun, at times overprotective. She could not ask for a better sister and brother. But being a clone of someone was hard. Being seen as a copy, even unintentionally, was harder.
And that’s why she’s so lucky, Elle thought as her bus passed the sign for the next town. It had taken a lot of convincing, with Jazz’s psychological persuasion and Danny’s arguing for her, but Jack and Maddie agreed to let her spend the summer away from Amity Park. They’d got up with an old contact across the country, a fellow paranormal researcher who happened to have a niece and a nephew about her age. Kids her age! Elle beamed at the thought. Potential friends who don’t know about her whole history, her powers, or her status as clone.
“Next stop, Gravity Falls!” The bus driver exclaimed, drawing Elle’s attention.
She looked out the window again, taking in the scene. There were so many trees! And they’re so tall! Excitement grew as the bus pulled around a corner and started slowing down. The vehicle turned into a parking lot and came to a stop. Smiling, Elle stood up. She grabbed her bags and walked off the bus. Her eyes fell on a large, pink, glitter covered sign. It read ‘Welcome Elle Fenton.” Behind the sign, a girl, with long brown hair and braces and wearing a sweater with a shooting star, waved. A boy wearing a vest and a baseball cap with a pine tree stood beside her. A pair of gray-haired older men also stood with the kids.
Elle practically bounced forward, waving herself. “Hi! I’m Elle!”
The girl in the sweater grinned. “Hi! I’m Mabel.” She motioned to the boy. “And this is my brother, Dipper.”
Dipper nodded. “It’s nice to meet you.”
One of the men, the one wearing a tan trench coat and a red turtleneck, stepped forward and held out his hand. “Greetings. My name is Ford Pines. Your parents told me to expect you.” He offered a kind smile as Elle shook his hand.
“And I’m Stan.” The final person of the group said. He swung his keys around one finger. “Come on kids.”
Elle followed the group to an old-looking, red convertible. She grinned as Mabel rambled excitedly about plans for the summer. The halfa could already feel, it was gonna be a good one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Elle started picking up on the strangeness almost as soon as they pulled out of the parking lot. She gazed out the window. There was something eerie about the trees, the dark shadows between them. Her skin prickled with the feeling of eyes on her. Meanwhile, snippets of Dipper and Mabel’s conversation rose her eyebrow. Gnomes, zombies, and lake monsters. Possession, dream demons, and something called a multi-bear. And...ghosts.
The half ghost turned at the word. “What about ghosts?” She asked cautiously.
The twins turned to look at her. “Oh, we were just talking about last summer.” Mabel said casually. “A lot of crazy stuff happened.”
“That’s an understatement.” Dipper chuckled, though it carried little humor. “We saw and met a bunch of supernatural creatures, solved mysteries. We even saved the world.”
Elle rose a brow. “So a completely normal summer?” She said teasingly. Dipper and Mabel both laughed, this time more authentically. The black-haired girl gave a snort, grinning before her expression sobered slightly. “But seriously, what about ghosts?”
The boy started explaining. “Me, Mabel, and some friends hung out in a haunted conscience store.”
“I got high on Smile Dip.” Mabel added excitedly.
Dipper shook his head. “The ghosts of this old couple attacked us. One of them possessed Mabel and to get them to stop I….” The boy blushed. “Let’s just say, I figured out how to get us out of there.”
Elle blinked, eyes widening at the story. “Wow, that’s….” She had no words, the reality hitting her. Her seemingly normal summer… no ghosts or weirdness, making friends with normal kids….that was not gonna happen, was it? The corner of her lip turned down. “That’s something.”
Mabel's smile fell slightly. “It turned out okay. Everyone was fine.” She comforted, clearly interpreting the other girl’s change in attitude as worry.
“That’s good.” Elle forced a smile on her face. “But you had a fun time despite….” She trailed off.
“It was awesome!” Mabel’s face lite up.
“And this summer’s gonna be awesome too.” Dipper added. “I want to….” The boy continued, talking about the things he wanted to do and see.
At the same time, Elle mulled over the words. Ghosts….ghosts do always seem to follow her. She sighed. What else could she expect? She wasn’t exactly normal but...at least, she was making some friends who are used to weirdness.
Five minutes later, the car pulled up to an old, rickedly looking building.
“We’re here!” Mabel exclaimed as Dipper opened the door.
Elle opened her own door and stepped out of the car. Taking in the building in front of her, she noted the sign on the front that read, ‘The Mystery Shack’.
Mabel scooted out of the vehicle, her eyes widening. “Waddles! What are you doing out here?” She bounded forward, grabbing a small pink pig waddling towards the group.
“Come on.” Dipper motioned to the black-haired girl. “I’ll show you around.” Elle nodded and followed the boy as they crossed the yard and the porch. “So like the sign says, this is the Mystery Shack.”
Dipper opened the door, letting Elle pass in front of him. As soon as the girl crossed the threshold, the hair on the back of her neck rose as her core pulsed. A wave of cold flowed through her, filling her lungs. The girl frowned; it was almost like her ghost sense going off but not quite.
“What is it?” The boy’s sudden question got her attention.
Elle blushed at her spaciness. “Oh I..uhh...I need to use the restroom.” She stuttered, coming up with an excuse.
Dipper also blushed. “Oh….It’s this way.”
He walked her to the bathroom door and Elle ducked in, locking the door. Whatever that was that triggered her ghost sense, she should see what it is. The girl triggered her core. White rings formed around her waist. They traveled up and down her body, replacing her jeans and hoodie with a black and white hazmat suit. For a moment, Elle studied herself in the mirror. The white hair, green eyes, her suit with the same symbol as on Danny’s. She half-smiled; the accents were different from his and to her happiness, they figured out how to modify it so no more crop top!
Elle flickered invisible and intangible as she phased through the door. She frowned, taking in the giftshop. Everything appeared normal, for a wacky tourist trap at least. Taking a breath, the halfa set her attention inward. Her core sensed….something but from what direction? Tentatively, she reached out with her ghost sense. There!
A signature flickered in her perception. She flew up, following the feeling. Elle passed through the ceiling to the second floor. She glanced side to side. Where… The cold billowed in her lungs again. She looked up. Whatever it was, it was in the room above her. She flew farther up and phased into a room with a sloping ceiling and triangle shaped window.
There! Over the bed on the left, the air shimmered with something insubstantial, a hint of blue and white and….Elle blinked and the thing was gone. She floated forward, grasping at the air but nothing. She frowned; even the feeling of cold was gone.
Elle floated around the room for another minute, looking for anything out of the ordinary. Two beds laid on either side of the room. If she had to guess, based on the pink and glittery posters on the right and the pile of books on the left, this was the twin’s room, meaning whatever that...ghost (?) was, it was floating over Dipper’s bed.
With the signature gone, the halfa soon gave up. She did need to be getting back to her new friends. Still invisible, she phased through the floor and back into the bathroom.
Dipper asked through the door. “Elle? Are you alright? You’ve been in there a-”
At the same time, Elle reappeared in the visual spectrum. With a flash of light, she returned to human form and opened the door.
The boy blinked at her sudden appearance. “Oh…what was that flash of light?” He questioned.
“What flash of light?” Elle responded, deliberately playing dumb.
Dipper gave her a skeptical look. “Really? You didn’t see that?”
The girl blinked. “See what?”
The other teen shook his head. “Nevermind. Let’s start that tour.”
“Yeah. Let’s go.” Elle answered, almost imperceptibly relaxing. It looked like he bought it...or at least decided to not push. With that thought, the girl quickly forgot the interaction as Dipper showed her around.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gravity Falls was in fact as strange as Elle thought. In the first week and a half, the girl had already seen gnomes, crystals that make things change size, a video game come to life, a herd of manotaurs (menotaur?), and Bigfoot. Oh, and she was pretty sure the Mystery Shack was haunted.
“Mabel! Have you seen my journal?” Dipper shouted from the kitchen. “I could have sworn, I left it right here.” Elle looked up from where she had been reading on the couch as he pointed at a spot on the table.
“Haven’t seen it.” Mabel answered, from where she’s drawing on the floor. She reached forward, hand grabbing in the air. Then she looked up. “Where’s my glitter?” The girl’s eyes flickered across the room, searching, before settling on the tv. “How did it get on the tv stand?”
As Mabel stood to retrieve the glitter, Elle frowned, looking between the two siblings. This kept happening- things being misplaced and moved, nonsensically. She would think it was typical sibling pranks but…Dipper hadn’t come into the living room since Mabel used that glitter five minutes ago. And Mabel hadn’t stood up to go to the kitchen during that time. No, this seemed to be something distinctly more supernatural.
“Come on! Where is it?” Dipper paced. “I left it right here!”
As the boy became increasingly panicked, Elle stood up. “Maybe I can help you find it. What does it look like?”
The other teen turned to her. “It’s blue with a tree on the front.” He shook his head. “It’s got all my notes in it.” His speech quickened as he explained. “Ford’s journals got destroyed last year, so I’m trying to write down everything I remember from them. Plus what happened last year and anything else I learn. I have to find it!”
As Dipper rambled, he paced and Elle searched. The shelves, the kitchen counters, the top of the fridge, the table in the chairs. No, Nope, no journal. She walked past Dipper to look on an end table. Nope, nothing.
She turned back around, back towards the kitchen counter. “I’ll try in the….”
Elle trailed off, eyes widening. There on the counter laid Dipper’s journal with the pages splayed open. On the page was a drawing that looked very much like a person with a bedsheet over their head. The heading read ‘Ghosts.’ The girl furrowed her brow. Ghosts….she had thought she’d sensed one when she first arrived, and with all the objects disappearing and being moved….
Something cold brushed past her, raising the hair on her arms. Her core flickered and cold air rushed into her lungs. Her eyes fluttered around the room, searching for shimmering air, a hint of mist. “Who are you?” She muttered under her breath. Something fuzzy and blue flashed in the corner of her eye.
Elle’s heart pounded at the sudden sight. In a blink, she whipped to the side, eyes falling on…..Dipper?
The boy blinked, nose wrinkling with confusion at her expression. “What is it?”
Elle opened and closed her mouth but before she could respond, Dipper’s eyes lit up. “You found it.”
As he stepped forward to retrieve his journal, the girl turned back around. Her eyes widened again. This time, the book was on a different page.
“The Cloning Copy Machine?” She questioned quietly.
Dipper glanced at her, answering her curiosity. “Yeah, last year Stan fixed this copy machine upstairs and Mabel and I used it to make copies of a flier for this party and I kinda found out-”
Mabel cut him off. “Bro-bro, you’re telling her about the time we made a copy of your arm and it attacked us, aren’t you?” At some point, the girl had stood up and joined the pair in the kitchen.
The boy rolled his eyes. “It didn’t attack us.” He turned to Elle, explaining. “We copied my arm with the machine and it kinda… crawled off the page and moved towards us.”
Elle’s face grew increasingly pale and disturbed.
“We spilled some water on it and it melted.” Mabel added helpfully.
The half ghost blinked, taking in this information. She shivered, unsure if the reaction was from the ‘cloning’, the idea of a moving disembodied arm, or melting.
The other girl clearly didn’t register her reaction. “Come on! Let’s show her.” Mabel exclaimed.
“I don’t think that-” Dipper started.
But before he could finish, Mabel was pulling Elle up the stairs. They passed through a doorway with Dipper following behind.
“Ta-da.” The sweater-wearing girl motioned to an ancient-looking copy machine. A sign was taped to the side in Dipper’s handwriting. ‘Do not use under any circumstances.’ Mabel ripped off the sign. “You wanna copy your arm?”
Elle shook her head. “I’m good.”
“Come on. You know what, I’ll do it.” Mabel tapped her chin. “I could copy all of me.” She grinned. “Imagine it! A whole army of Mabel clones!”
At the word clone, the halfa’s heart sank. “Please, no.”
Dipper shook his head. “No, not after….” His voice quieted. “What happened the last time.”
His sister blinked, suddenly confused. “Last time? What do you mean?”
“I made a bunch of clones of me. I told you that, remember?” He looked down, biting his lip. “With how badly it went...it’s probably not a good idea.”
Dread balled in Elle’s gut. Clones….he...he made…. She pulled her eyes away from the cursed machine and stared at the boy. “You cloned yourself? Why would you do that?” Just a hint of hurt entered her voice.
Dipper rubbed the back of his neck. “So...there was this party and I wanted to dance with this girl I had a crush on.” He blushed. “I got stuck working the entrance table so I used the copier so I could go to the dance and my clone could work the table….”
He trailed off and Mabel elbowed him. “Tell her about what happened next.”
The boy glared at his sister but continued. “I had this convoluted plan to dance with Wendy and stuff kept getting in the way so...I ended up making like ten clones to stick to the plan.”
Elle paled. Ten...ten clones. Ten. Made to fulfill a preteen’s convoluted plan. Vastly different from why and how she was made but…. Her heart skipped a beat; she couldn’t help but think about Vlad and the other clones, her brothers.
She grimaced, balling her fists in the sleeves of her hoodie. “What happened to them?”
“They turned on me.” He said, voice sober. “I went against the plan so they locked me in the closet so one of them could dance with Wendy. I got out. We all ended up fighting each other and I…. I set the sprinkler off so all but one melted.”
The halfa’s blood ran cold, sudden anger flaring in her. “You melted them?” She gritted her teeth, feeling neon green bleeding into her eyes before she shut them. “How...how could you?”
Dipper stepped back, caught off guard by her sudden anger. “Elle?”
“Do you think they were just...they were just toys for you to play with? Just tools for you to use? Do you even care that they me-” Her voice broke.
She couldn’t force out the word, she couldn’t. They...they melted like she...like she had, like her clone brothers had. She’d come back from the brink but….dripping green, ectoplasm flashed through her mind. The prime clone (Daniel, he’d had a name, a name like she did) on the floor, his face marred with pain and fear.
Dipper’s hand appeared on her shoulder. Though his brow remained wrinkled in confusion, his expression was soft. “I know they weren’t. I know I shouldn’t have used the copier, definitely not for that.” He glanced at the machine. “That’s why I don’t want anyone to ever use it. And I…” He bit his lip, eyes downcast. “I never want to see another clone melt again, especially not after Ty...Tyrone.”
Elle’s glance whipped up at the name. “Tyrone? Whose…” She tilted her head, trying to put the pieces together. “Wait...you…named one of them?”
The corner of Dipper’s lip turned up but his eyes remained fixed on the floor. “We picked out his name together actually. But yeah...Tyrone was the first one. He was a cool dude.”
Something in the statement, the hint of affection, softened Elle’s heart. “What happened to him?”
Dipper looked up, his lip falling again. “We went up to the roof to talk.” He wrung his hands. “Both of us realized the crazy plan messed things up with Wendy so we were going to hang out. We were sharing a soda and...he..” His voice cracked. “He melted from the inside out.”
Heavy silence fell after that, Mabel not even having anything to say. Meanwhile, Elle studied the boy, the fall of his shoulders, the sadness in his eyes. Was that...guilt? Grief?
Dipper finally chuckled humorlessly. “I can’t believe I told you all that. I’ve...I’ve barely talked about it since it happened, especially about Tyrone. But...I just…”
Elle looked up, heart skipping a beat. That look….she recognized it. She’d seen it on Danny’s face and her own. Her expression softened. “You miss him.”
The boy blinked, again caught off guard. “I...I don’t...I mean….I” He rubbed the back of his neck and glanced at his sister. “I...I do actually.” He shook his head. “But that’s….that’s ridiculous, right? How can I basically miss myself?”
And just like that, Elle’s more forgiving attitude evaporated. She’d thought….the way he talked about the clone, the guilt and grief there, like he might have actually cared about this Tyrone. Like he could care about a clone at all. But...the question repeated in her head ‘how can I miss myself?’ Her heart clenched. Copy, that’s what he saw. Tyrone was just him, just Dipper. And if he knew the truth about her, that she was just someone else’s copy….. Elle shook her head. No, she’d been here, she’d done this before. She was not Danny and Danny was not her. She was her own person, even with her similarities to her original.
“Elle? Are you okay?” Mabel asked, getting the girl’s attention.
The half ghost blinked. “Yeah. I...I want to be alone.”
“Oh...okay?” The other girl said.
Elle turned towards the door. She could feel Dipper and Mabel’s eyes on her back, their confusion and worry at her reaction. As soon as she left the room, they would definitely be talking about her. In the doorway, the girl turned. She met Dipper’s eyes, stealing her courage. “Dipper? Tyrone was your clone but...that doesn’t mean he was you.”
The half ghost clone darted out the door before either teen could say anything.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Elle didn’t bother to open the door to her temporary bedroom, instead phasing right through. With a sigh, she slid down onto the floor and put her head in her hands.
“Stupid.” The girl muttered to herself. “Why did I react like that?” She balled her fists, annoyed at her own stupid heart. Why? Why did she have to react so strongly? “Dipper and Mabel probably think I’m crazy.” She grumbled.
It’s not like either of the twins had any idea what that was actually about. They didn’t know what that cursed copier meant to a clone like Elle. The girl felt torn; part of her was angry that Dipper ever used the copier at all. No one should ever be made and thrown away, no matter the reason. Yet, at the same time, Dipper was a kid like her; he had little idea what he was doing when he used that machine but he seemed to understand how serious his actions were now. He seemed to almost regret what he’d done and the few words he said about Tyrone suggests he cared about the paper clone. Regretting the immoral action itself while valuing the creation, that was a promising combination. But still… all this was too similar, too close to her origin. A too painful reminder of all she’d been through.
Her heart clenched almost painfully in her chest. And the worse part? The end of the conversation. In Dipper’s mind, it would be ridiculous, it was ridiculous to miss Tyrone because he was never a real person. Just like she wasn’t, a horrible ugly voice, that sounded far too much like Vlad, whispered
“No.” Elle put her head in her hands. “I’m…I’m real. I’m real. I’m just me, just Elle. I’m not a copy. I’m….” She gritted her teeth. “I’m not just a stupid clone.”
Suddenly, a flash of cold surged through Elle. Her head whipped up, registering her ghost sense. Her eyes widened, falling on a figure across the room. It was the ghost, the one that had been haunting the Mystery Shack. But there was something different. Instead of a shadow or a cloud of mist, this was a blueish person shaped blur, though with no discernable features.
The apparition turned. Elle shivered; somehow without visible eyes, she could tell it was looking at her. Then there was a crackling noise, something like radio static.
“What do you want?” The girl asked, an odd mix of fear and annoyance in her voice.
More static, louder. A light bulb flickered. Quickly, the figure started moving back and forth across the floor, almost like they were…pacing? Elle blinked, taking in the sight. The bubbling static continued; not words but….almost an emotion. The excitement and confusion of someone rambling.
Elle sighed. “I don’t understand what you’re saying.”
The figure stopped its movement, turning to face her again. The static pitched up, tone shifting into what the girl thought might be a question.
“I can’t understand you.” The girl gritted out.
The questioning static repeated, somehow more desperate, almost panicked.
“Stop. I –“ Elle covered her ears as the attempt at speech grew louder and faster. “I can’t…Stop.” The figure floated towards her, the temperature of the room dropping. The halfa’s ghost sense surged in response.
“Stop!” The girl leapt to her feet, sudden anger flaring. “What do you want?” She demanded again, summoning the rings. With a breath, she transformed into her ghost form. She raised her fist. “If you don’t stop, I’ll….”
Elle trailed off, noticing the other ghost’s silence as they floated backwards nervously. The girl frowned; again without being able to see any facial features, she can tell that she’s being stared at in shock.
Anger fizzling, the half ghost floated back herself. Passively, she registered the ghost’s height, about the same as Elle and the twins.
“You’re like me?” Came the awed question.
Elle blinked, recognizing the word. Or…no, still not words but emotion so strong, solid, and specific that it drilled right into her brain and her soul understood the meaning.
The girl glanced down at herself. “Yeah…I’m a ghost like you are.”
The blurry head of the figure tilted ever of slightly. “Yes…but no….but…that’s not…” The almost words shifted back into static, away from Elle’s understanding. Quick rambling questions continued.
The girl sighed, holding up her hand. “I’m a human-ghost hybrid.” She explained, anticipating the likely question. “So I’m a ghost but I’m a human too and can change between my two forms. I’m..uhh…called Elle Phantom in that form, by the way. And other ghosts call people like me a halfa most of the time. And there’s not a lot of halfas, just me and two other people. Both of them were in accidents that changed them but I’ve always been like this ‘cause…well that’s not important. Anyway-“
The other ghost interrupted with a burst of static and Elle sighed. More questions, questions she couldn’t hope to understand.
“Look.” The girl pinched the bridge of her nose. “I still can’t tell what you’re saying. I have no idea why but…maybe you can tell me your name?”
The static cut off and there was a pause for a moment as the figure considered. “T-“ There was a crackle and a pop, cutting through the word.
“I didn’t catch that.” Elle crossed her arms.
“T-“
A knock on the door interrupted the sound, startling Elle and the other ghost apparently. The figure wavered for a moment, form jolting before dissolving into mist.
“Elle? Can we come in?” Dipper asked from the other side of the door.
The girl took a breath, trying to coax her heart rate down. With a flash, she turned back into a human.
“You can come-“ Before she even finished the statement, the door swung open.
“I’m so sorry, Elle.” Mabel said.
At the same time, Dipper wrinkled his nose. “What was-“
He trailed off as his sister continued. “If I knew the copier would make you upset, I wouldn’t have showed it to you.”
The halfa shook her head. “It’s okay. I…I’m sorry I overreacted.”
“You don’t have to apologize.” Dipper said. “It’s okay.”
“No. I shouldn’t have yelled at you guys. It’s just..it reminded me of some stuff-” She suddenly cut herself off, blushing nervously.
The twins looked at each other, sharing cautious and worried looks of their friend. Across from the pair, Elle shifted nervously. Her eyes trailed around the room, anywhere but her new friends’ eyes. Her brows then furrowed as her gaze fell on a spot several feet to Dipper’s right. A mist wavered, like…the ghost is still here. The girl tried not to visibly frown. Could Dipper and Mabel not see it?
“You don’t have to talk about it.” Mabel finally spoke quietly.
Caught out of her thoughts, Elle looked back at the other girl. “Huh?”
“You don’t have to tell us why you got upset.” The brown-haired girl clarified.
“But you can talk to me if you want to.” Dipper said kindly.
“Or me. You can talk to either of us, if you want to.” Mabel added.
“Okay…yeah.” Elle considered the words. Mabel’s apology, the patience and understanding. Neither came in here demanding information, neither acted like she was weird or making a big deal of nothing because of what she said. She sighed. “I’ll think about.” And she would.
“So we’re good?” The boy questioned.
“Yeah. We’re good.” The half ghost nodded.
“Good!” Mabel beamed. “Come on, I’ve gotta finish my poster! Elle, you can help me.”
“Sure.” The girl shrugged.
As the trio exited the room, Elle casted a glance over her shoulder at the wavering mist that was the Shack’s other resident ghost. She blinked and it disappeared.
Author Interview Tag
I was tagged by @iris-best-taken-in-small-doses, thank you for tagging me! <3
Name: Vee
Fandoms: Primarily Sherlock BBC, but also RDJ Holmes, Harry Potter, and the Fallout games universe, plus Supernatural and bits of Doctor Who which I’ve seen and liked
Where you post: Ao3, I love this site
Most popular multi-chapter fic: So far it’s my first ever published fic from earlier of this godforsaken year, Harry Potter and the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, which has just a few days ago surpassed 2k hits. It’s a crossover between HP/SH, and I must admit I do neglect it a little because I have a second fic I publish, which brings us to....
Favourite story you’ve written till date: Definitely Reichenbach Falls. I speed-wrote the first 8-and-a-bit episodes over the course of 2 months while also studying for transfer exams, and I keep my pace up and it is my main focus at the moment. It’s also the most ambitious crossover I’m attempting, because it is the Holy Trinity of SuperWhoLock, and a Gravity Falls AU, so it offers a lot of lore I am proud that I came up with. It has its own challenges I like to tackle, especially when it comes to intertwining characters from numerous TV shows to coherently worked together, plus their character arcs and character developments that are to come. I hide easter eggs here and there and put some of my soul into it, so it is very dear to me. I think I am doing the job adequately so far, but time will tell. :) I do love HPatAoSH, because it is my first fic ever and I am still excited about it, but I put it on the backburner and procrastinate on the chapters I post usually
Fic you were nervous to post: Both my big series, really. One never knows what reception they’re going to get, and we all hope to get the characters to interact just right. The HP crossover because it has two timelines that later intertwine in 1997 when the Golden Trio asks the Baker Street Dumbass Detective Duo for help and I need to make certain corrections in some earlier chapters. Reichenbach Falls because it is SuperWhoLock and as I said, it’s huge, 3 parts in 1 work, so 300 chapters give or take in total, and I hope to do my best with everyone’s characterisation.
How you choose your titles: Depends. HP/SH was a bit self-explanatory, and I think it fits well into the AU and foretells what’s up in a sense that you know who is involved and if you know both fandoms, you get a whiff of a couple shenanigans. Reichenbach Falls was a bit difficult to name and I stalled on it, but then on one hot summer day that I spent cowering inside the house like the pale gremlin I am, I thought hm,,,,, the show is called Gravity Falls, but I can’t use that of course. And then I remembered that Reichenbach is a thing, the waterfall is in canon as well and BAM - Reichenbach Falls. It’s all more about a sudden epiphany than hard thinking, it comes by itself.
Do you outline: Yes, but do I stick to it? Nah. I do write steps for each episode for RF, but those serve only as a mild reminder of what the end goal is, and I wing the rest to my standard. It works well so far. With HP/SH, I just wing it and rely on the past chapters because as I mentioned, I’m a sorrowful procrastinator on this one for now. My outlines are general which gives me space to improvise and improve on the run, which I like, it doesn’t restrict me in any self-induced way, so I prevent mental blocks nicely.
Complete: Living Musical, which is a one-shot I wrote for Steph from inevitably-johnlocked. Fluffy, too! And it needs revision because I wrote it in 4 hours until it was 1am and I have no recollection of that evening anymore. And... god, I need to fix the typos. *facepalms*
In Progress: HP/SH crossover and Reichenbach Falls I linked above already. They’re plenty to take care of :D
Coming soon/not yet started: this is what I am excited about! I have a new AU in mind, either some postapocalyptic wasteland AU, but most probably also an AU of the game Fallout: New Vegas at the same time (it’s basically the same concept). I have the basic plot in mind and down, and ohhhhh guysssss I really like it. I’d also like to make it an interactive fic where the readers may choose which factions John and Sherlock could join, which would affect the ending of the fic, much like what happens in the game, but I’m not decided on this. But there is great potential, I think, though I need to make a big mindmap and brainstorm all that would need to be involved, so there’s lots of lore to consider (which I already got started on). It would be another huge fic, and I plan to write at least half of all that could be published before sending it to ao3, possibly. We will see, but you can see how my mind is overworking itself already... >:) it looks quite badass (but that’s just me so far), and its working name is Fallout: New London. Actually, there’s a prologue and first two chapters that are constant (meaning that it is firmly locked to the AU and can’t be influenced by choices) and in progress already and semi-drafted because I am a psycho like that, but no details yet! I have no self-control.. but yeah, this is the biggest one I’m excited about out of all the fics my mind invents.
Do you accept prompts: ehhhh, maybehaps? I don’t know. Probably not at the moment, maybe in a year or so. I like the idea of doing Christmas prompts, so maybe in 300 days approximately, who knows?
Upcoming story you are most excited to write: Currently, it stays on Reichenbach Falls and its 2 later seasons, because that’s when things get real >:)) also Fallout: New London. so much johnlock in sight.
Upcoming story you are most excited about: Due to my lack of time at the present moment, I nowadays mostly revisit some comfort fics if I feel like shit, but I do keep my eye out on @iris-best-taken-in-small-doses‘ The Corvus That Calls at Night. I am subscribed to the ao3 profile so once it an email popped up and I saw ‘medieval’ and all the other priceless tags (pls check them out I love them) I went oo >:D I am merely waiting for my holiday spirit to kick in fully so I can put my feet up and catch up to my reading; there’s also @simplyclockwork‘s Hired Gun I keep my eyes on, and I patiently wait for @jbaillier‘s Messages From Deep Waters -- I remember that back in August(?) she posted a post about doing research on sea fish and how to gut them? Not sure on the English word or if I’m correct at all right now, but hmmm Scotland staged AU, I like that. Also her You Go To My Head stories that are coming, I love them dearly, and I am so excited there’s going to be more Medical Husbands content :’)
Universe Falls turns 5 years old this week
I was 19 when I started it and still in college, in the throes of depression bc I hated college and wanted out even during the start of my sophomore year. I was homesick and had only a handful of friends bc I was shy as fuck back then and terrified of rejection (and had gone from a small pond back in high school where I was fairly popular to being an absolute nobody in college). I really, really fucking hated it during my freshman year and in particular and begged my dad to let me come home and go to college there instead of thousands of miles away. But for better or worse he made me stick it out even though I was absolutely miserable. But if there was anything that got me through that horrible freshman year it was my discovery of two shows:
Steven Universe and Gravity Falls
I binged SU first, having seen it when it first aired back in 2013 but then got back on the bandwagon for it around the time its first season ended, which was when I became a devout fan. GF was something I discovered through tumblr, I watched it not long after Not What He Seems premiered and fell in love hard and fast. I would spend hours watching and rewatching these episodes, reading fics and fan theories, speculating on what was going to happen next. Never before in my life had I ever discovered two shows that brought be so much joy and comfort until these two came into my life. I loved these characters, felt like they were the friends I knew I was lacking even though they were fictional. But they felt real, they felt alive to me.
So fast forward to August/September 2015. I had just started my sophomore year and so far wasn’t having any better of a time than I had when I was a freshman. I still clung onto GF and SU as new, very exciting episodes were airing for both (that was the month we got the Last Mabelcorn and Catch and Release, for reference’s sake). And then, one night, while I was falling asleep in my cramp dorm room I shared with a roommate I couldn’t stand, the thought occurred to me:
What if you brought these two things you loved so much... together?
It was a random thought, almost insignificant, but in the days that followed, I just couldn’t shake it. And the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to see these characters interact, the more I wanted to see their plots intertwine, the more I knew I was the one who had to write this since GF and SU crossovers were pretty scarce back then (unlike they are now in the new wave of SUF and GF crossovers that I don’t much care for).
I was in the midst of a writing funk at the time, my ongoing Zelda fics all on hitaus while I began a new year at college. I had more or less lost passion for most of them, with the majority of them except my HW fic receiving low numbers of reviews and feedback (back then I didn’t really know how to promote my fics like I do now). Even so, I started planning on this new project, but not without a bit of hesitation since I’d never really worked with GF or SU characters before. But I began plotting out a chapter list (the original UF chapter list has been lost to the ages, I wrote it in an old homework planner during class), and I had decided that I wanted to try my hand at making this thing a comic. A hand drawn comic. And given that my drawing abilities were... subpar at best, yeaaaaah it wasn’t the best idea....
Still, I got through two parts of UF’s “first chapter” and posted them on here (they’re still up somewhere if you wanna go back and cringe hardcore at my bad old art). Still, it had taken me a loooooong ass time to draw them and even more crazy was the fact that my laptop had crashed during that span of time, leaving me with only my shitty iPad to work with. Frustrated, I decided to forego the stupid comic altogether and write the damn thing as a fanfic, knowing I could get chapters out way faster than I ever would have by drawing it.
So I wrote the prologue and posted it on September 29, 2015. And let’s just say right off the bat people were excited. I’d never seen so many reviews on the first chapter of one of my fics before and those numbers only started to go up the more I posted. I was jazzed up to work on this fic, pushed on by this encouragement as I decided to build my relatively reblogging-heavy blog up around it. Toward the end of the year, when I was nearing the end of arc 1, I decided to get myself a drawing tablet and download Sai so I could begin drawing my own art for the fic, leading to me first passes of character designs and UF’s old fugly cover lol
Still, I kept going with it into 2016, getting through both arcs 2 and 3 as the fic only began to grow more and more with more engagement from its fans. AUs were made, fanfics and fanarts of my fic were created, it was a glorious time to be alive, even going into 2017, 2018, 2019, and now. And all the while I kept at it, coming up with sequel plans, taking breaks every now and then to refresh and recoup, and to give the new pet project I started in 2019 (Keys to the Kingdom) some time to shine. But I’ve still never truly lost passion for UF. It’s something I tend to see through to completion, no matter how long it takes.
Fast forward again and now its 2020. I’m 24 years old and still going strong with it, having just completed RMD, an arc ender that I always hoped would be my magnum opus for this fic (and I’m so incredibly proud of how it turned out). Both GF and SU have ended, their stories both told and their endings inspiring me in so many different ways. And while those stories are over, I still strive to keep these characters, or perhaps, my own unique takes on them, living on to tell new stories, to have new adventures right alongside the canon ones. To keep their flames going in the same spirit and hopefully try to follow, even in some small way, in the footsteps of Rebecca Sugar and Alex Hirsch, two of my absolute heroes in the animation world.
So UF turns 5 this week. It’s half a decade old and it’s nearing its 100th chapter. Its passed the 1 million word mark quite some time ago and I’m sure it’ll pass 2 million before its all said and done. It’s accumulated thousands of reviews, hundreds of followers/favorites, plenty of incredible fan interactions across the board. It’s 9th arc is about to begin, leading the way into 2 more before its all said and done. And from there it’ll only grow when I eventually write UF2 and UFF sometime way down the line. All things I could have never imagined doing as a lonely college sophomore back in 2015 when I was just starting this fun little experiment off. But as for where we are with it no, well, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
So here we are in the future. And, well, for UF at least, I’d say it’s pretty bright.
#i would have drawn something to accompany this post but ehhhh im busy#anyway ignore me im all emotional rn#my baby is technically old enough to start kindergarten#lol#jen writes#universe falls
BnHA Chapter 254: Who the Hell Is Bucky
Previously on BnHA: All Might welcomed 1-A back after the new year with a pun he’s probably been working on for the entire winter break, the poor man. Aizawa received a call :’) and drove down to Tartarus with Mic to meet up with Naomasa and Gran Torino. Nao and Gran were all “so you’ll NEVER GUESS, but we found out that Kurogiri’s quirk is apparently a FAKE QUIRK which was created from a bunch of other quirks -- AND GUESS WHICH ONE WAS THE ORIGINAL QUIRK?” and Aizawa was all (ಠ ∩ಠ), and Mic put a hand on his shoulder, and Nao was all “YEAH YOU DID GUESS, IT’S YOUR OLD DEAD PAL SHIRAKUMO, FROM CHAPTERS 59 THROUGH 65 OF VIGILANTES!” And okay, so (1) OH MY GOD, and (2) I originally thought this meant that Kurogiri is straight up a zombie!Shirakumo, but others pointed out that he might be some random other dude who just has Kumo’s quirk, among others. And like, okay. SO WHAT IS THE TRUTH.
Today on BnHA: Y’ALL HE REALLY IS A ZOMBIE!KUMO, AND NAOMASA AND GRAN BROUGHT AIZAWA AND MIC TO TALK TO HIM AND TRY TO RESTORE HIS MEMORIES SOMEHOW. Aizawa is all “this isn’t some fantasy world with happy endings, this is THE REAL WORLD WHERE MIRACLES DON’T HAPPEN!” but Gran is all “sometimes they do!” and Aizawa is like “!!” and so they sit down to chat with Kumo. Aizawa launches into a passionate speech about how great Kumo was and how he pulled him along and inspired him, and how he (Aizawa) is strict with his students now and -- get this -- FAKE-EXPELS THEM IN ORDER TO PUT THE FEAR OF GOD INTO THEM JUST ONCE LMAO, BUT IT’S BECAUSE HE CARES, and because he wants them to be great heroes and not hapless redshirts who get killed offscreen. And by the end of it he’s crying and imploring Shirakumo -- “if you’re still in there somewhere” -- to become heroes with him and Mic just like they always wanted. All of it is exactly as emotionally devastating as you would figure, btw.
you guys I have been playing hopscotch on my dash since yesterday trying to avoid spoilers about the popularity poll until I actually had time to write down my reactions! all I know is that of course Bakugou is #1 again, because this fandom always comes through lol. my other predictions are that the rest of the trio will receive lots of love again as well, and Hawks will once again be high on the list, and Aizawa too because of the Vigilantes flashbacks (at least HE BETTER), and probably the villains will get a big boost as well after their arc, Tomura in particular. and Endeavor might break the top 10 again too with the newest arc, although I can’t quite remember whether or not the poll was still going on by the time that started (ETA: actually I don’t think it was). but yeah. anyway so there’s a real possibility that most of the kids will actually be shut out of the top ranks because of these GROWN-UPS and VILLAINS stealing all their glory, smh. your time will come, kids
“more than anyone, you were a hero” oh is this chapter going to play with my feelings yet again. is this just going to happen every fucking week now. okay
HELL YEAH MY BOYS ON THE COVER
@unboundednamelessfuture, to answer your ask about whether I’m planning on watching Heroes Rising, the answer is a resounding YES, POSSIBLY EVEN MULTIPLE TIMES IN THEATERS IF I CAN SWING IT, because I’m pretty sure it’s actually just going to be All My Dreams Come True: The Movie. and yes I have seen some spoilers for it, although I’m not clear on whether or not they’re actual spoilers or just rumors. so because of that I won’t post my thoughts just yet, except to say that if it is true, see above re: All My Dreams Come True: The Movie, and also add a bunch more exclamation points at the end of the title omfg
anyway so my sons are famous now. they’re in Hollywood. good for them
AND NOW THE POLLLLLLLL YES
oh shit, I heard about “Deku & Bakugou Rising”, but is that out this week?? shit I’ll have to do a separate post if that’s the case. I’m assuming it’s more of a bonus chapter than an actual spinoff, kind of like the All Might chapter we got for the last movie. either way, to say I’m hyped would be a massive understatement, needless to say
(ETA: okay so I’ve seen Korean scanlations of this -- which I didn’t look at closely because spoilers -- but no English scans yet. so stay tuned!)
so I was wrong about the kids being shooed out of the top 10! I have never been so pleased to be wrong! so we have Kacchan at #1 (I love his face so much. ghlkhf), Deku at #2 (he beat Shouto this year! good for you!!), Shouto at #3 (wouldn’t be surprised if he and Deku were neck and neck again though), Kirishima at #4 (we stan one bright ray of sunshine), Iida at #5 (YOU DESERVE IT SO MUCH SWEETHEART. I’M SO GLAD FANDOM ISN’T SLEEPING ON THE ACTUAL BEST CHARACTER IN THE SERIES), Tomura at #6 (DID YOU NOT GET THE MEMO ABOUT WEARING A NUMBER ON YOUR OUTFIT? MAKING ME FIGURE IT OUT FROM THE PROCESS OF ELIMINATION IS A REAL BASTARD MOVE. THEY SHOULD HAVE PUT YOU AT #8 TO MATCH YOUR CURRENT NUMBER OF FINGERS YOU STUPID SEXY JERK), Aizawa at #7 (THANK YOU FANDOM, YOU’VE REDEEMED YOURSELVES FROM LAST YEAR), Ochako at #8 (I LOVE YOUUUU), Toga at #9 (LADIES!!!!!!), and Momo at #10 (YES GIRRRRRL)
I think this is the strongest showing of ladies yet in the top ten (ETA: actually no, the second poll was slightly better) and I’m all about it. also can they all please keep these costume upgrades because YES. I don’t care if Horikoshi would get sick of drawing them. THAT’S WHAT ASSISTANTS ARE FOR. KATSUKI HAS A FUCKING BULLET BANDOLIER, COME ON, YOU CAN’T MAKE THIS JUST A ONE TIME THING YOU ASSCLOWNS, THIS IS FOR THE PEOPLE
lol here’s the abridged version of the Shirakumo flashbacks, I guess. everyone was saying last week how Vigilantes was now required reading, and like, I get that everyone’s excited about the crossover, but they still have to make this comprehensible for people who only read the main series. I’m guessing we’ll get the short version here, but Vigilantes gets to provide the more in-depth story for people who want to know more about everything, which is more or less what Vigilantes’s role has been in general
anyway so here’s Kumo doing his usual Naruto impression and cheerfully dooming himself by being ceaselessly optimistic and tempting fate’s sense of irony
you sure can! just so long as that crisis doesn’t involve big, heavy rocks, or gravity. I’m sorry kiddo
“‘let’s all form an agency together.’ it happened just after he said those words.” well there you have it, the BnHA equivalent of “one week left till my retirement.” hero training should really include a mandatory course titled Death Flags: The Silent Killers. there are children’s lives at stake here
lol yeah this really is abridged
“once upon a time we all wanted to be heroes and then Shirakumo got crushed by some rocks the end.” yeah, so maybe not quite the full emotional impact of the original lol
OH SHIT SON
so it is his reanimated corpse, then! which means the potential for him somehow dramatically regaining his memories is very high. since this is a shounen manga, I’m gonna go ahead and put it at... 100%. is that too low
guys I don’t know what to do when Present Mic is making faces like this
when even the Comic Relief Guy is getting all traumatized and serious, you know it’s bad. sob who will I turn to now for comfort. Horikoshi’s really just gonna go full dark no stars here and leave me just stumbling around lost
OH IF IT ISN’T THE ORIGINAL PIECE OF SHIT HIMSELF!!
yeah it makes perfect sense actually, you bastard. you steal the bodies from the crematorium and then give the families fake ashes or something. holy shit you really will not stop until you find the lowest possible level to stoop to, and then grab a fucking shovel and start digging so as to GO DOWN EVEN LOWER. just. god everything about this is just so wrong
oh btw, now seems like a good time to bring up this ask I got last week!
anon you blew my mind, just so you know. you’re absolutely right. so that’s one mystery down! though the way that this is going, I’m not so sure I’m gonna like any of the other answers that the Noumu arc is gonna provide us sob
holy shit look at this fucking simile
dead children = leftovers. sure why not. just in case we all forgot how evil he is
and also, YEAH BUDDY THAT’S WHAT I JUST FUCKING SAID, PLEASE KEEP UP. and who even knows how many other times AFO has done this. I hope they’ve started investigating crematoriums, then. I’m just waiting for them to make some connection that leads to them finally finding out about Ujiko, but that might take a while still
(ETA: although if they actually can get Kumo to talk...)
and did he really just solemnly call Mic “DJ” because omfg. Gran, are you the comic relief. do you even know. are you even aware
oh hey look another dagger to my heart
ouch. that was cold. and... not necessarily true, though, is it? because he was kind enough to Tomura. idk, I know my villain mom has done some horrible things, but you’ll be hard pressed to get me to think of him as all bad, even so. he was the one keeping Tomura from going FULLASS MURDER MODE!! for a long time
HEY WHAT THE FUCK KIND OF COP-OUT IS THIS
well then WHY DID YOU EVEN BRING THEM IN HERE! DID THEY NOT SEEM TRAUMATIZED ENOUGH TO YOU?? “well idk they seem pretty shaken up already, but just to make sure they grasp the full repugnant horror of the situation why don’t we make them visit him face to face.” OKAY THEN YOU SADISTS
son of a bitch and speaking of twisting the knife, Horikoshi keeps showing us these increasingly wrecked glimpses of Aizawa lowkey falling apart and I can’t
at this point the shadows under his eyes have their own shadows. and god dude, I know you’re rational, but it’s really hard to watch you just outright dismiss any and all possibilities of hope just like that :(
what the fuck Gran
so you really are the one in this scene who’s trying to lift everyone’s spirits now. well all right then, just what are you alluding to
OH SNAP
LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD NOUMU BACKSTORY AT LAST! jesus christ, do Nao and Gran just know everything already, and they’ve just been keeping it all to themselves for the hell of it?? how long before they casually swing by U.A. and are all “oh and by the way, the traitor is...”
ANOTHER AIZAWA FACE BUT THIS ONE IS SOFT OH GOD!!
HEY WHAT’S UP I’M GONNA CRY. SOMEONE TURN ON SOME SAD MUSIC. AND I WON’T GO, AND I WON’T SLEEP, AND I CAN’T BREATHE, UNTIL YOU’RE RESTING HERE WITH ME
AND I WON’T LEAVE, I CAN’T HIDE, I CANNOT BEEEEEEEE
hey Nao. you know what really would have helped with getting him to talk. NOT KNOCKING HIM UNCONSCIOUS. ??? move over do you need someone else to do your job for you or
-- OH THEY’RE TALKING TO HIM NOW LMAO OKAY
“go ahead and do your thing guys. don’t be afraid to make it real gay”
this would be even more dramatic if Kurogiri actually had a face. but even so... OH I AM WHAT I AM. I’LL DO WHAT I WANT. BUT IIIIIIII CAN’T HIIIIDE
oh my fucking god Aizawa is all “but what about his family?” and Naomasa is literally “if you two are unsuccessful, then...” like straight up acknowledging that the three of them were so fucking gay in high school that their odds of getting through to Kumogiri are stronger than that of his OWN FUCKING FAMILY. wow
chin up my sexy man. you got this
OH SHIT AHHHHHHH
LDSKFHL EASY THERE CHAMP, THAT’S TOO MUCH SEX TO BE CONTAINED IN A SINGLE PANEL, PLEASE TRY AND DO ME A FAVOR AND FUCKING HOLD IT TOGETHER HERE FOR THE KIDS WHO ARE READING THIS!! [frantically googles ‘can a shounen manga get you pregnant’]
so Aizawa is all “I’ll be damned if I let his family hear this sickening story” and like, I’m sure he means that in a “they don’t deserve that pain” kind of noble and principled way, but if it were my child I sure would want to know regardless. and aren’t they going to find out either way?? either you do get through to him, in which case obviously you would want the family to know “HEY, GOOD NEWS!”, or you don’t manage it and Nao has to call them anyway as we just established. but you go ahead and get all fired up then, Shouta
now there’s a panel of him staring at Kumo and Kumo is just a big shapeless blob of black smoke just sitting there lol. don’t tell me he’s still unconscious?!
oh
thank you
anyway so Aizawa, did you know that while you were off being an underground hero, Kumo was studying at Oxford to get his medical degree while bartending on nights and weekends to make ends meet. the two of you have so much to catch up about
Mic’s thinking that even with Aizawa using his quirk, the fog isn’t dissipating, so it means Kumo’s body is now made up of fog. well but then what about the metal neck thingy! huh??
and Mic’s opening his big mouth to complain that Kurogiri is far too polite and classically educated to really be their old pal, but before he can finish, Kumo is interrupting to ask about his son!!
he’s. uh. I guess you could call it “well”? maybe a little too well [marge simpson noises]
well Mic is clearly back to being the comic relief here. but Aizawa is keenly spotting those mom instincts that have remained in Kumo to this day!
yes Aizawa the core of your friend is still in there deep down!
OH MY GOD
LMAOOOO. “EMO PUNK... WHERE HAVE I HEARD THAT BEFORE -- !!” [AUDIBLY GASPS AND LOOKS DIRECTLY AT AIZAWA]
oh my lord. like, I don’t think this is actually meant to be funny, but just the fact that he immediately associates “emo” with AIZAWA FUCKING SHOUTA so strongly that it makes him go (•̪ o •̪) all knowingly has me fucking deceased right now good grief
so Kumo says he doesn’t resent his mission at all. some people like looking after emo punks, Mic. you should know
AND NOW MY FEELINGS ARE BEING TOYED WITH AGAIN!! JUST STRAIGHT UP OUT IN THE OPEN!! THIS ISN’T FAIR
heh. don’t mind me I’m just looking for some sort of emotional support to cling to here for my breakdown that’s about to happen about 0.2 seconds after Aizawa starts crying, if he indeed starts to cry. which it looks like he might. oh god I’m not ready for this at all. my hatches are not even remotely battened; my shutters are just gonna go flying right the fuck off
by the way what the fuck is up with the chairs at Tartarus. why do they look like swiss cheese
hmm, Nao and Torino are all “no reaction”, but to me it looks like there clearly is a reaction, though? he can’t even look Aizawa in the eye all of a sudden. it’s clearly getting to him. Nao seriously, do you need someone else to do your job
oh Aizawa
(ETA: Kumo really first-named Aizawa two seconds after meeting him. this man knows how to adopt his introverts.)
okay but Present Mic in a summer uniform is the most punchable version yet, SORRY I JUST HAD TO SAY IT I’M SORRY MIC I LOVE YOU. it was just gonna come bursting up out of me if I didn’t
anyway so Aizawa is gaying it up just as promised
him using his quirk is definitely making the scene more intense, but I’m not really sure why he actually is using it, since we’ve established it’s not having any effect. unless he’s trying to possibly undo some of the brainwashing somehow??
(ETA: so it occurred to me that just because his quirk isn’t dissolving Kumo’s mist body doesn’t mean that it’s not having an effect on his warp abilities. this way they can interrogate him without fear of him trying to use it and them having to knock him out again.)
so Kumo’s continuing to try and play it off all smooth while Aizawa unleashes the full force of fifteen years of pent up grief and trauma!
starting to think Aizawa never did go to therapy after that whole thing. typical U.A. “so you saw your best friend die suddenly and violently right before your eyes and subsequently suppressed it and hallucinated his voice talking to you to avoid facing that reality, huh? eh, you’ll be fine”
oh no a close-up of Aizawa that doesn’t show his face completely. this kind of thing never ends well
BECAUSE HE DOESN’T WANT THEM TO END UP LIKE YOU [sobs forever]
wait are we really going to talk about this?? omg
wait what. so do you mean to tell me he expelled them but then continued to guide them afterwards so they would have long, happy and healthy careers but more importantly would be safe omfg I’m not fucking ready for this shit
we’re cutting to U.A.’s class 2-A! Aizawa’s former class? does that mean he literally expelled EVERY SINGLE ONE of his students last year omg
so then. does every single standout characteristic of the Aizawa we know and love stem from his tragic past and his relationship with this boy then, or what? meanwhile the feelings continue to torrentially lash against my house while I huddle in the basement
I can’t fucking believe we’re actually getting a legit reveal about the “Aizawa expels all his students” gag holy shit
re-enroll!? what?? and “expel” in quotation marks?!?
ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS -- HE DID IT JUST TO SCARE THEM!? AND THEN WHAT, WERE THEY PICKED UP AFTERWARD BY THE OTHER HERO CLASSES INSTEAD? SO HE TEACHES THEM A POTENTIALLY LIFE-SAVING LESSON AND THEN GETS TO LAZE AROUND THE REST OF THE YEAR, LOL WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. THIS MAN IS A GENIUS
(ETA: and by this logic, Deku really ought to have been expelled half a dozen times by now. don’t ever try and tell me that this man doesn’t play favorites.)
so Aizawa is taking his goggles off and saying that he’s strict with his students because he wants them to live long, fulfilling lives
OH NO
SOMEHOW HORIKOSHI MADE KURO’S FACE LOOK SOFT?! I DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW, IS THERE ANYTHING HE CAN’T DO
AHHHHH
OH NO HE DID IT AHHHH THE TEARS, FUCK. WELL MY HOUSE IS FUCKING DESTROYED, I’M CLIMBING UP TO THE ROOF TO AWAIT RESCUE
wow. anyways that really did get gay as fuck at the end, didn’t it. given the meaning that those goggles have to Aizawa, can this be taken as a form of marriage proposal? no? well I’m taking it that way anyway, so. congratulations you two. I’m off to go sob into a pillow now
