How the TOS crew reacts to being stuck in the turbo lift with you
requested by anon: “how would the tos crew react to getting stuck in the turbolift with reader?”
Spock
He only briefly looks up when he realises that the turbo lift has stopped.
Has no reaction whatsoever and goes back to doing whatever work on his PADD because he figures somebody has to notice it’s out of order fairly quickly
He just goes about his business until he hears you hyperventilating
He already knows why you’re panicking.
Spock does his best to comfort you by telling you that there’s only one turbo lift and therefore someone will have to fix it soon.
He’ll 100% tell you all about the history of elevators and how the turbo lift is so much safer 🤓
If you’re still worried after that he’ll let you hold his hand until someone finally fixes the turbo lift.
Leonard ‘Bones’ McCoy
Internally, he also freaks out a little bit
Bones somehow keeps his composure despite being trapped very close to you
He’s entirely in his own head about it until he realises that he can hear you freaking out even more than him
His inner country boy breaks out a little and pulls you close to him
Absolutely kisses your hands and maybe even your cheek to make you giggle a bit
He’ll remind you that you guys have been through way worse than a stopped turbo lift.
Jim Kirk
“Huh” his exact words after realising you’ve stopped.
Honestly, he really really trusts his crew so he won’t be worried at all
But the moment he hears your breathing pick up he’ll start cracking jokes
“Actually this works out perfectly, I was on my way to a meeting”
Pulls you into a big bear hug and tells you how he’d much rather be here with you
if you’re still panicking he’ll say something like “do I have to order you to calm down”
Keeps telling jokes until you laugh
and when you do laugh, he’s pretty sure his heart jumps out of his chest.
Nyota Uhura
Absolute girl boss about it
Would 100% wait it out if it weren’t for the fact that she could see you panicking
But you’re panicking and she can’t bare to see you with anything but a smile on your face
She pulls out her comm and calls down to engineering (why did no one else think to do this? 🧐)
Once she’s done that all she can really do is wait
She won’t even wait or hesitate, she’ll pull you to the floor and sit with you
10/10 would recommend getting stuck in the turbo lift with Nyota, she will cuddle until someone fixes the lift
Sulu
“Oh my”
His mind seriously blanks
But he kicks into gear when he remembers you’re here too
He pulls out a deck of cards and asks if you like magic 🪄
(I dunno why I just think Sulu can do card tricks and stuff 🤷♀️)
Card tricks quickly devolves into an intense game of war
Its unexpected for sure, but it works
Scotty
It takes him a moment to notice
But when he hears your breathing he looks up and realises that you’ve stopped
You’re lucky to be stuck in the turbo lift with the head of engineering
He gives you a quick wink 😉 and smirks when you blush
He’d turn around, open up a panel that you didn’t even know existed, and fix it
Bam, problem solved
If you’re really shaken up by it though he’ll probably take you for a drink after or make you tea if you don’t drink
I hope you like it, anon. I’m super sorry if this isn’t what you had in mind, feel free to re-request it with more specific parameters if this isn’t what you meant.

I'm curious, what do you think of X-Men: The Last Stand? Are there things you would do to improve it? Besides having Nightcrawler actually in the movie of course. xD
Sorry it took me a minute to get to this ask because I have A LOT OF THOUGHTS, this is a FANTASTIC question because I actually literally just rewatched that movie!! (yes, it was for Weapon by Name. No, it wasn't for anything plot-related, it's cause I've been having a hard time writing Hank McCoy lol)
Very short version: I like some parts of the movie, but I definitely have ideas on how to improve it!
This is going to be a long post so my improvement ideas will be under the cut! But first:
What do I think of the movie? I mean... it's not the best. There are a few enjoyable moments, but it's just genuinely not a super well-written film; it feels unbalanced in a lot of places, leaves out a lot of things I would have liked to see addressed from the first few films (*cough* yes I'm talking about Kurt *cough*) and feels like it doesn't properly give focus to the Phoenix storyline at all. I think one of my biggest problems on a re-watch was the fact that Jean literally does nothing. She has no motivations in the movie and only a handful of dialogue lines. HOWEVER, I do love the mutant cure plot line, and I feel like it makes a fantastic focus for a third X-Men movie! I also think I can blame this movie for my love of Warren Worthington! There are definitely parts of this movie that I do enjoy, there are just things that could have been better! Now, a break-down:
Things that I like/would keep the same: - The Worthington Industries/Cure plotline (I find the mutant cure to be an extremely interesting X-Men plot, and I enjoyed how it was handled here for the most part. I'd make a few small changes to balance it with the rest of the story, but this is something that I'd want to see MORE of rather than LESS of) - Most of Warren's story (again, this is a plot that I LOVED from the movie, but needed to see more of. This goes back to the unbalanced feeling I mentioned, and I'll talk more in a bit about how I'd fix it) - Hank McCoy (honestly I love Hank in this movie, I don't think I have any changes) - Mystique's ending (I actually love how this movie handled Mystique. It's short, simple, shows just how much her abilities mean to her with her casual shifting even while she's captured, and I personally feel that her turning her back on Magneto when he turned his back on her was a very in-character moment. This whole subplot was great, no changes)
Things I would completely take out: - Juggernaut (he was an unnecessary addition to an already packed story, he really didn't add anything and if he's going to be in a movie I think he deserves more screen time) - The whole plot line with Xavier having hidden Jean's true powers from her. (It just makes Xavier a bad mentor figure in my mind, and I'd prefer it if there's just a quick explanation of there being weird energy readings at Alkali Lake or something that could have brought her back.) - The weirdness that was Kitty and Bobby sort of flirting (I feel like this was shoehorned in just to add a romantic tension between Bobby and Rogue. Kitty and Bobby have little to no chemistry and any that they do have just makes Bobby seem like a jerk to Rogue. I have a proposed fix for this subplot, which I'll address in a bit, but I would completely remove romantic implications between these two) - Xavier's death as it was (I feel like there was a strange imbalance between his death and Scott's, so to increase emotional impact I would like to streamline it and get rid of that scene)
Ok, now what would I do to improve it?
HONESTLY if I were to completely rewrite this movie, I would have to go back and rewrite X2 as well because I don't feel like the foundations were set up well for the type of Phoenix Saga that I would have liked to see. HOWEVER, I'm already rewriting X2 in Weapon by Name so there's no way I'm doing that again. Instead, here are just a couple of semi-quick changes that I would make to the movie, WITHOUT changing any of the previous canon.
First of all, let's talk about Scott. Scott Summers is the backbone of the X-Men and he was done DIRTY by this movie, so let's at least make it a bit better. Going based off of what has been established for him by the canon of this set of films, we have basically three character traits for him: he's Xavier's star pupil, he's the leader of the X-Men, and he's in love with Jean Grey. SO, instead of having him sulk and shirk his teaching duties at the beginning of the movie (which goes against two of the three things established about him) we instead go the opposite route. The movie opens up with Scott leading the Danger Room session, and we see that he has basically thrown himself into his work after Jean's death. Storm and Xavier express concern about this, even Logan can tell something is off, but Scott continues to drive himself and the new X-Men (Bobby, Kitty, Rogue, and Peter) into the ground as a way to try and avoid his grief
Speaking of the newbies, let's pause the Summers angst and talk about them for a moment. In the actual movie these four get completely sidelined (I already talked briefly about how Kitty is just used as an awkward romantic device, and Rogue literally disappears for days without anyone questioning where she is/misses the whole final fight scene, and yes I'm happy that Peter and Logan have a Fastball Special, but that's literally the only time he contributes to the movie). I wish that we had gotten a little bit more of the four of them in X2, but again we're not changing anything from that movie here. What I propose as a way to improve them as characters in this movie alone is to treat them as a unit. I think that if the four of them were treated as friends and shown in the first Danger Room scene having a bit of banter/generally joking around and working as a team, it would establish to the audience that these people know each other, like each other, and have a reason for being on the team together. In addition, setting these four up as friends in the first scene with them also helps fix Rogue's whole character arc.
I was genuinely upset with how the movie handled Rogue; it boiled her entire character arc/want for the cure down to "I want to be able to touch my boyfriend". I think this is a huge disservice to her character, and I think it can be hugely improved in just this first Danger Room scene. Instead of having the moment where Kitty saves Bobby, we replace that with a moment where Kitty is in trouble and Rogue reaches out to help her. Bobby or Peter then jump in and pull her back because her gloves fell off in the exercise; if she'd tried to help her friend, she would have only hurt them both. Now Rogue's eventual desire for the cure isn't built on teenage horniness; it's built on a fear of being dangerous to those she cares about.
Now, back to Scott. With this re-written version that focuses more on him trying to drown himself in work rather than just being sad and mopey, I think that a good way to get him to Alkali Lake would be for Xavier to have a talk with him. Xavier pulls him aside and basically says "you're hurting yourself by avoiding this, Scott. Take a few days. Take a breath. Allow yourself to breathe." This is what results in him going off to Alkali Lake and Jean's revival happening.
Personally, I wouldn't kill Scott here. I would let him come back to the mansion with Jean and everyone gets a reunion... however, Scott and Logan both start to notice something is off about Jean. She seems just a bit too on-edge, will zone out occasionally, things will float around her without her even noticing that she's controlling them, and there's the whole fact of she should be very dead.
Scott is concerned for Jean and trying to find a way to help her. Logan, on the other hand, is beginning to wonder if this person even is Jean at all, or if this is just some creature that is trying to look like her.
Now, a quick aside for some thematic values of the movie. I'm sure there are some in the original movie, but I had a hard time finding them honestly. What I would like to be the main theme of my version would be the concept of monster-versus-man or the "beast inside". This theme would primarily be shown in the contrast between Logan and Jean, as they are (or at least SHOULD BE) the main two characters. However, every key character could be shown to be struggling with their "internal beast": - Rogue, who is struggling to be close to anyone because of her mutation (an example of how this "beast" can be harmful to others) - Warren, who tried to get rid of his mutation long before the cure was invented (an example of how denying that beastial nature entirely only serves to hurt himself) - Scott, who keeps his mutation carefully contained to try and please the people and ends up paying for it (we'll talk about his fate in a moment) - Ororo, who is at peace with the wild, natural nature of her mutation (an example of a good balance between the man and the "monster") - McCoy, who is the literal embodiment of the "beast" and can't even attempt to hide, but still contemplates how it would be to feel more human (another example of balance, but with more longing) Every part of the "cure" plotline would help amplify this theme, and keeping that in mind for every character's decisions throughout the film would give it a far more streamlined and dynamic feel
Speaking of streamlined and dynamic, let's talk for a second about Magneto. I'm torn on what to do with our man Erik. Half of me is tempted to completely write him out, because I think he completely overshadows Jean in the original movie and that he's half of the problem with how it doesn't feel like a Dark Phoenix film, lol. However, he's also the best X-Men antagonist and it would feel like a disservice to him to leave him out of the climax of the trilogy, especially when the cure plotline is something that he would never stand to the side and watch.
So, I think that here we still have Eric gather his forces and start making threats over the cure. However, we cut the scene with him and Jean and Xavier in Jean's old house. Instead, we have the X-Men go to confront Eric just before another attack. This is at a public support rally for the cure, and remember Scott is still alive here.
Just before this scene, we should have a scene between Scott and Jean, where they talk about the changes that Jean's been experiencing. Scott's worried about her, and Jean tries to tell him she's fine (and that maybe this new power isn't a bad thing). In this scene we have the moment where Jean uses her powers to let Scott see without his glasses -- only he flinches away the moment he opens his eyes, and basically tells her that it doesn't feel right. He also tells her that the old Jean -- his Jean -- didn't need all of this power. She was content with things they way they were. We see a big example of that "inner beast" theme here, focusing on that contrast of how Scott wants to keep his powers under control in order to fit in while Jean has almost limitless power at her control, and she doesn't see a reason not to use it to make their lives better.
Now, back to the X-Men versus Magneto. As they stare him down, Jean tells Scott she could end it. She could wipe the minds of everyone in the crowd around them, and change them all to mutant supporters. She could change everything with just a thought.
Scott, of course, tells her no. He wants to try and solve this peacefully, the way that Xavier would (it's important that Logan overhears this line).
In the middle of Scott trying to diffuse the situation, one of the anti-mutant protesters tries to take a shot at Magneto. This causes immediate chaos, and another protester takes aim at the X-Men. Magneto deflects the bullet coming towards him. Scott is hit.
Oh goodness I hit a text block limit I didn't even know Tumblr HAD text block limits ok then.
Now, with this being the way that Scott dies, Jean actually has a reason to go berserk and give into the power she feels. She tried to follow Scott and keep it contained, and the attempt at peace got him killed. She ends up killing multiple innocents here, and when Logan tries to reach out to her she turns and leaves the X-Men behind.
Professor X's funeral scene is replaced by Scott's funeral scene. In the original movie it felt unbalanced to have such a focus on Xavier's death and no focus on Scott's, so as previously mentioned I think we should take Xavier's death out entirely. Plus, because of the nature of Scott's death (being killed by an anti-mutant protester), now the whole school is buzzing with unrest about the cure.
This is where we would have the scene where Bobby comforts Kitty, but unlike the original where's it's a "romantic" beat between those two we have all four of the younger X-Men outside iceskating together. Scott was their teacher so they were all fairly close with him, and they talk about it together. They also talk about the cure, and how they don't want to take it after Scott's death... Rogue is the only one who speaks up for the fact that the cure wasn't what killed Scott, it was just the people in support of it. We also have a moment here where everyone ends up knocking into each other as they skate, and that is where Rogue's jealously comes from; simple, human interaction that she isn't able to experience.
She leaves early, and Bobby notices. They have a conversation that only serves to upset Rogue more, and this is where we have a touch of their relationship because yes, it's important to her and she does want to be able to get physical comfort from her boyfriend, but now it's built on top of the other ways it has affected her life. He mutation has hurt her relationship with her family, her friends, and her boyfriend instead of only putting the focus on her romantic life. This conversation leads to Rogue leaving to try and get the cure.
But putting them aside for a moment, let's focus on Warren. I really liked the skeleton for Warren in this movie, but he still feels very flat and stilted because we don't get much depth to his character. To fix this, I would have developed a friendship between him and Leech. Both are prisoners here in Worthington Labs in their own unique way. Both have the illusion of choice (Warren could theoretically say no to his father, and Leech is shown to be comfortable and humanely treated which means he probably had at least a bit of autonomy) but neither have true freedom. I think it would give a level of depth to Warren's character if we see a scene of him sitting with this kid, maybe even moving just close enough that his wings go away, and Leech asking him if this is what he really wants. They could talk about the cure, really give the audience an inside perspective on what would go through the mind of a mutant to make them want to take this, and also bring up another running theme of freedom and what it looks like. ALSO we could have them talk about the complicated relationship between Warren and his dad, which would make Warren saving him at the end of the movie more impactful. Also, it would add another level of depth to the look of pure longing that Leech gives Warren as he watches him fly away after the attempt at taking the cure.
Now, in the original movie I felt like it was a bit awkward for Warren to just show up at the Institute without any real reason to go there. That could be fixed by tossing in a comment about the Institute along with the aforementioned Leech scene, but instead, I think it'd be interesting if Rogue was already heading over to try and get the cure as Warren breaks out. She sees him flying away, and makes the decision to follow him instead of going to get the cure. They end up talking (this could be off screen or on screen, either way) but end up showing up to the final fight last minute together.
Before we get to the final fight through, let's talk more about Jean. Now, at this point I think we've already made her arc better by giving her the earlier scene where she talks with Scott, plus hid death causing an actual emotional impact that would turn her against humanity. I feel like one of the biggest problems with the original movie is that they don't give Jean any screen time, which to be fair they tried to cram a LOT into this movie. However, it is literally supposed to be a Dark Phoenix movie, so I think she should get at least one scene where we really see her struggle with the new beast inside of her. This would start out as a solo scene where we get to see her go somewhere away from civilization, probably into the middle of the woods or something, where she can let go for a minute and literally scream out her grief. We see objects floating around her and turning dangerous in the wake of her anger (maybe she accidentally kills a few animals, something catches on fire, etc), and I'd love for her to have some dialogue that brings into question for the audience whether this really is Jean, or if the Phoenix Force is something else entirely.
Magneto would show up halfway through her breakdown, and try to give her the same "you could be powerful, you could get revenge" speech he does in the original movie to get her on his side. But, Jean doesn't fall for it; instead she says he's going to manipulate her the same way Scott did, and that she's not going to make the same mistake twice. Her reasoning doesn't entirely make sense, but that's where the Phoenix comes in; now that she's latched onto the idea of people hurt the ones I love because I tried to hold back, the Phoenix is using that to make her completely loose control and cause the chaos that it craves.
Magneto attempts to talk her down once he realizes that she's becoming a danger to mutants as well, and this escalates into a fight between the two of them. Honestly, I think it would have been interesting to see Jean kill Erik here; as much as I enjoyed him being de-powered in the original version, I feel like having Erik out of the picture would give more focus to Jean as the climax. She kills Erik, and then turns her sights to Alcatraz to try and take out everything that she perceives as harmful to her people (though at this point, as seen with Erik's death, the Phoenix has blinded her to the point that she can't truly see who her people are)
The X-Men are still in the wake of Scott's death, but they find out Jean is going to Alcatraz and that she killed Erik (because of course Xavier would be able to sense that) and they gear up to go fight. I think we should also get a moment between Bobby and Logan here talking about the fact that Rogue isn't there with a ton of guilt from Bobby, and Logan basically accepting that she's made her choice.
Also, Xavier goes with them to Alcatraz. Everyone is a bit hesitant, but he makes the point that he knows Jean's mind better than any of them, and that at the level of power she's at they might have to take it to an astral plane battle in order to defeat her. Plus, Jean has taken both Scott and Erik from him. He can't sit on the sidelines of this fight, not when he feels responsible for her spiral (again I would like to take out the "Xavier hid her memories from her" thing and focus on the fact that he basically raised her from when she was a teenager, BUT you also could keep that plotline in here)
So now we actually have the final fight, which is just the X-Men and the army VS Jean. For Jean of course this feels like betrayal, since the entire reason she's here and fighting is because humans (like the soldiers the X-Men are standing with) killed Scott. This also gives us a chance to see just how powerful Jean is, because it's literally like 100 to 1.
Now the rest of the fight goes similarly with Kitty rescuing Leech (though she's fighting against the building collapse, not Juggernaut) and Warren coming back to save his father (with the added detail that Rogue comes with him). We also get a reunion between Rogue and Bobby and Rogue helps Kitty save Leech. I'd also like for there to be a sweet moment mirroring the opening Danger Room scene where Rogue reaches out to try and help Leech just like she'd tried to help Kitty, and she's actually able to touch him and save him. At the same time, she also uses her powers in the fight to help, and she doesn't lose her powers at the end of the film.
The fight with Phoenix comes down to Xavier trying to get into her head, and they duke it out in the astral plane. We get to see here that this isn't really Jean any more; Jean is almost completely gone, it's the Phoenix that has overtaken her. We have a bit of dialogue here about how the monster has taken over to reflect that "internal beast" theme, and haha I lies we didn't entierly take out Xavier's death, I think he should die here. It looks like all is lost, until Logan comes up behind her and finishes the job similarly to the movie.
Logan's character arc ends with accepting that he is a beast, and that he can use that to protect those around him. It means he has to make the hard choices, but unlike Jean he's able to come back from that beastial mindset and actually process the grief with the rest of the team.
So THERE WE GO!! I think that's how I would rewrite the movie!! I like a lot of parts from it, but I think it could have been improved! Sorry this ended up being a much longer ramble than I intended and there's still things I could have fleshed out more, but this took way too long to type out so I'm just leaving it here.
TL;DR: If I could make improvements on this movie, I would have given Rogue more of a character arc, Scott a more satisfying death, and Jean the spotlight she deserved. Also, I would have given the film some identifiable themes that actually relate to the character's actions.
If you read this whole thing holy cow thank you this took me several hours lol

Finished reading Forbidden Scrollery! As I mentioned in my little post about it before, I would make a full review on it once I finished it, so here we are now!
(Also, sorry I haven't been posting as much art recently, life's gotten busy for me and I haven't really had the time to work on anything big, but I hope to get back into drawing soon)
And honestly? Best Touhou manga I have read so far. Full review under the keep reading tag. Also, spoilers if you want to read it.
The writing first of all, was really good, the pacing is perfect (only helped by the actual paneling and layouts being top notch), the character writing was my favourite part of the manga, and the actual story was actually pretty smart.
So something I love about this manga is that it all revolves around a core idea, that being the relationship between Humans and Youkai. While each chapter is episodic in nature, it still feels like those little episodes actually have a purpose, it isn't just filler. There's not one major problem they have to resolve like in CDS, but at the same time the events aren't disjointed from one another like in Lotus Eaters. The way that we see Kosuzu slowly get more and more involved with the Youkai of the human village is really interesting. I also really like how we learn more about the human village and how it operates, as well as learning more about how the Youkai play a part in it. In each chapter we see a different way that this core theme is expressed, like in chapters 20 and 21 where we see how outsiders like the residents of Eientei contribute to the human village, and in chapters 30 and 31 where we see how humans help Youkai out via their fear of the unknown. And of course, you have the infamous chapter 25, where the most memorable moment from there also happens to be the most flanderized (I'll get to that in my paragraph about Reimu, because her character writing in this manga is the best that I've seen in the Touhou mangas so far). The best chapters that demonstrate this theme are probably all in volumes 6 and 7, where things start to get more intense.
Now onto the writing, and boy while this may be whiplash from reading CDS, the writing in this manga was amazing. Each character has their own unique voice, which ends up making the events in chapter 38 even funnier. Since Mamizou has a very distinct way of speaking, it makes it even funnier watching her be disguised as Reimu and accidentally slipping into her own way of talking.
Of course, this scene is visually aided by Moe Harukawa giving "Reimu" the little cat mouth she gives Mamizou, and also the very obvious signifier of the leaf, but establishing Mamizou's way of speaking early on in the manga helps emphasize the comedy of this scene (that being, a sassy old woman trying to impersonate someone in their early 20s with a very different personality to them).
What's even funnier about this scene is that as soon as Mamizou gets what she wants, she just gives up on trying to speak like Reimu and dips (which is the punchline to the setup of Mamizou almost calling Kosuszu "Little Missy" and then correcting herself)
Also, credit to the English translators for finding words and phrases like, "The real Mccoy" and "Reckon," with how different the Japanese and English languages are (and how tricky it can be to translate between the two) they ended up hitting the nail on the head with the localization and translation.
The actual narrative itself is really well paced, with all the events actually feeling like they happen consecutively to one another, only helped by the little bits in the dialogue where the characters mention previous events in the story. For a manga in a series where upholding status quo is the norm, a lot of changes happen in this manga, like Akyuu starting to write novels under a penname, Kosuzu starting to attract the attention of more and more important people in Gensokyo, and Kosuzu eventually being added into Reimu's friend group. The manga also does an excellent job of tying the events of the games at the time into the story, like we're seeing the behind the scenes or aftermath of a particular incident, especially so with the Urban Legend Incident, where we see Reimu and Marisa get more and more concerned about rumors like "The Story of the Bull Head" and the end of the world speading too far before they can do actual damage. I also like the tone that this manga has, it's inviting at first with how cute and lighthearted it is, but it slowly gets more and more serious we begin to see the truth of the human village, and by proxy, Gensokyo as a whole. Also, the set up and payoff with the parade scroll was really well excecuted, with it acting as like a ticking time bomb in the background as the series goes on. I also really like how each chapter feels different from each other in terms of plot beats, it's not really formulaic like Lotus Eaters was, which helps make the manga a lot more exciting to read, despite it not having a grandiose overarching plot.
Now onto the character writing. As you can probably see, I am turning into a bit of a Mamizou fan. She's one of the most well written characters in the manga and perfectly strikes the balance of being hilarious, yet intimidating at the same time. She's a pretty smart character despite her goofiness, and she's always such a joy to watch (or.. well... read, but that doesn't roll off the tongue as nicely (well actually fingers since I'm typing this, but again, doesn't roll off the fingers as nicely (yipeeee I used a phrase correctly). Also, I really like seeing her relationship with Nue as that of a grandma and her grandaughter who's a chaotic scene kid, but despite these differences they get along perfectly. Aya is also one of my favourite characters to read about in the manga, and I was so excited to see her again. She's always such a delight to see, and also captures that sense of goofiness + coolness. In a way, it's kinda the embodiment of Youkai in Touhou itself. Fun and charming yet supernatural and menacing at the same time. In your usual manga/anime series, it's more likely that characters will lean one way or the other (and anytime they step out of their ascribed personality, it's for a gag and is considered an oddity, wheras with Touhou it's commonplace), so it's a really unique writing thing in Touhou that I don't really see other things, which is really cool. Marisa is also written really well in this, she's really funny and plays off of Reimu really well. Kosuzu herself is also fun to read about, as her childlike view of Gensokyo slowly begins to crack as more and more influential youkai begin to interact with her. I also like how the manga doesn't tell you in the beginning that she's a young, naive kid, instead, it shows you little details like her having a curfew, her parents calling her for dinner, her general outlook on life in general. All of that is contrasted with Akyuu, who, while bit pretentious, was also very fun to read. She plays off of Akyuu's naivete well with her wisdom from her past lives and her knowledge on Gensokyo. She acts like how you would expect a teenager with memories of their past lives to act, with maybe a slight dash of maturity in there.
And now for Reimu, who I think is at her best in this manga. There were times when I legit went, "HOLY SHIT REIMU'S SO FUCKING COOL OH MY GOD-" instead of just going, "Ha ha, Reimu's such a dork." Like, she actually knows her shit in this manga, and it explores the "shrine maiden" side of her character in far more detail than we have ever really seen it before (except in arguably Silent Sinner in Blue, which I still need to re-read, yes I will also be making a full review for that as well once I do get around to it). I use this panel from chapter 27 as my example because she genuinely looks so cool here.
Reimu very frequently uses her skills as a shrine maiden to get to find the answers she needs, and she's not afraid to get her job done. As seen in the now iconic panel of Chapter 25...
This is probably what the manga is most well known for, and when I mentioned how this moment is flanderized, I'm more so talking about how people tend to look at this moment in isolation, and to be honest, Reimu isn't helping herself by saying this a moment before she does this guy in.
Which is then sort of contradicted when Reimu says this after she does the guy in.
So if she has a legit reason for why she did this, why the heck did she call it needless then? I feel like the best way of answering this would be that yes, she didn't need to do it, but from her perspective she had to. It's her job to do so, as she says so herself. Another thing to mention that contradicts the initial reading of that earlier line is just how seriously she takes this whole ordeal. During the pages leading up to this moment, we see Reimu as being uncharacteristically serious about this,
And when she finally arrives at Suzunaan, we get this really good reaction shot of her eyes, and it really says a lot about her mental state at the moment,
and she also gets very serious during her initial confrontation with this fortune teller guy.
Another thing that contradicts the "needless killing" part is how she handeled that one rich guy becoming a Youkai in chapter 37
Reimu is just ruthless when she needs to get her job done in general. Sure, she didn't need to kill the rich guy, she could have just let him go and not do anything about it, but she it's not about what she needs, it's what Gensokyo needs.
In the same chapter where she kills the fortune teller, we get this bit of narration.
Honestly, I feel like this is a kind of "Reimu knows more about Gensokyo than she lets on" kind of situation, because we never really learn exactly how having a human become a Youkai would screw up Gensokyo, but I have heard theories where if a human-who-became-a-youkai were to still try to be human, then it would be cause for concern because then it's like putting a radioactive rock in the middle of a small elevator with a lot of people (ok I know that doesn't make any sense whatsoever but I can't think of another way to put it). .
Putting that can of worms aside, I really like this manga's version of Reimu. Sure she has her dorky moments, but that's not the entirety of who she is, and I really like that. I really like it when characters have vastly contradicting sides to their personality, it makes them more interesting and also more fun to think about. There is so much more that I can say about Reimu in this manga, but I'll just end off this segment by saying that Reimu is now one of my favourite Touhou characters now and she is in my top 5 list of favourite Touhou characters.
Ok now it's time to finally talk about the artstyle and OH MY GOD THE ART FOR THIS MANGA IS GORGEOUS I WANNA EAT IT SHKGAGSLHSKGSAKJDGHKSLDJGHLAHDGLJH;SLGHKDJAH;GKGHDJK;HFGKADHG;J-
Seriously though, I really want to do a style study for this manga because I love it so much. It's expressive, the cross-hatching gives it this really nice and tactile feeling, and the designs the artist came up with for each character are really good. My only critique would be to maybe give Mamizou more wrinkles, or something more to communicate her age, (and I still like the way Mamizou is drawn in this manga). In my previous post on FS I brought up how good the layouts are, and that still holds up to when I finished this manga. Good manga paneling takes advantage of the fact that it's a manga, and uses that medium to it's fullest. I won't go into any more detail here as I have already talked about how good it's paneling is in a previous post, so go read that if you're interested. I feel like we all know what makes Moe Harukawa's art so good, so I'll just leave this segment at that.
Now, I would normally end this segment here, but really, there's one surprise I haven't talked about
One character who steals the show in this manga
A character so good, I had to write an entirely new segment on him
That's right, it's a dude, and it isn't Rinnosuke.
I'M TALKING ABOUT THE MAN,
THE MYTH,
AND MOST OF ALL, THE LEGEND.
ANXIOUS
MUSTACHED
VILLAGER!
THIS MAN, RIGHT HERE, THE GOAT OF ALL MANGA AND ANIME! BEST CHARACTER IN ALL OF EXISTENCE! ABSOLUTELY INSPIRING STORY THAT DROVE ME TO TEARS! BEST CHARACTER ARC IN THE ENTIRE MANGA! GET THIS MAN TO NUMBER ONE IN THE 2024 TOUHOU POPULARITY POLL LIKE HE DESERVES!
Ok in all seriousness, this manga is amazing, (I mean, it has anxious mustached villager in it) I see why people regard it so highly in relation to the other Touhou mangas. It was a blast to read, and it's my favourite Touhou manga now, and is also one of my new favourite mangas in general.
Ok I'm gonna end the post here now, bye byeeeeeee.
#touhou project#anxious mustached villager#reimu hakurei#I tag her mainly because I talk about her so much in this review#forbidden scrollery#forbidden scrollery spoilers#touhou spoilers

In Our Favor
Part 353
McCoy
When they returned to their room after breakfast to grab a book, McCoy’s PADD was blinking.
“Of course it’s Chris,” McCoy rolled his eyes over dramatically. He let out a large sigh but grinned. “Best to just get it over with.” He sat on the bed and pushed the button to call their friend.
“Leonard!”
“Hi Chris,” he greeted the girl. She stared hard at him through the device.
“What happened?” she demanded. “I get a notification about an avalanche on Georgiares and then read you were in it?!” Christine sounded incredulous.
“We’re safe,” McCoy shrugged, knowing it would only rile his friend up more.
Scotty sat down beside McCoy.
“Scotty—!” Christine appealed.
“Aye, hello Chris.”
“So?” Christine demanded again.
McCoy glanced at Scotty.
“Honestly? I don’t know. I don’t think anyone knew why it started. Or if they did, I didn’t hear,” McCoy began.
“We were at the bottom and sheltered in a cave nearby,” Scotty added.
“With Robbie and Leah?”
“Yes.” “Aye.”
McCoy smiled at Scotty as they answered at the same time.
“Yeah, we were all together.”
“Think we need to give up on trying to snowboard,” Scotty grinned weakly. “I think the mountain has it out for us.”
They talked with Christine for a while longer, catching up on what they had all been doing with their break so far. When they hung up, McCoy grabbed his comm and sent out a message to everyone in the friend group. Christine had recommended doing it so that everyone wouldn’t worry like she had, or plague them with calls.
“Well now what shall we do?” McCoy asked, setting the comm aside.
“I thought we were going to read?” Scotty held up their book.
“Just making sure you still wanted to,” McCoy smiled. “We could go to the library, get the fire going really good.”
Scotty’s smile began to fade.
“Are ye really alright, love?”
McCoy sighed, but nodded. “I’m sorry I woke you up. I do feel better today. At least, I don’t feel like I did in the middle of the night. Might need a nap later though.” The prince gave his husband a self-deprecating smile.
Scotty moved close and hugged McCoy.
In the library the fire crackled happily as McCoy and Scotty sat together in an oversized armchair. With their feet up and a blanket across their legs, they couldn’t get much more comfortable.
McCoy read a chapter, then Scotty grabbed the book to read the next one. The prince snuggled closer and rested his head on Scotty’s shoulder. He closed his eyes and let the words flow around him. In his mind’s eye he could see the story unfolding.
The room was warm, and McCoy could feel himself growing heavier and he tried hard to open his eyes back up. But the night had been rough, and Scotty reading was soothing and McCoy couldn’t stop himself from dozing off.
Part 354
Scotty
The fire in the fireplace was pleasantly warm and Scotty simply enjoyed sitting next to Leonard and holding him in his arms. The prince had fallen asleep while Scotty had been reading another chapter and this time his sleep seemed much more peaceful and relaxed than the night before. It was obvious that Leonard was feeling better, but he still needed the sleep.
And Scotty was incredibly glad about that. He had feared that this experience would be just as traumatizing for Leonard as the Romulan abduction. But that was apparently not the case.
They would heal after what they had experienced the day before. Together. Side by side.
There was a certain tension in the air at lunch. Scotty wasn't sure what it was at first, but when he saw Robbie's bitter look and noticed that Alasdair's eyes were on the youngest brother, he had a hunch.
The other family members also seemed to notice something, but no one dared to say anything.
"So, what do you have planned for today?" Eleanor quickly tried to lighten the situation, giving the young adults a smile.
"Oh, nothing special. We'll just let the afternoon come to us," Leonard replied, shrugging his shoulders, and the others didn't have any specific plans either.
"I wanted to bake some biscuits later. Maybe ye'd like to help me a bit?" suggested Francine, looking from one to the other.
"That sounds great, Francine. Scotty and I would love to be involved, right?" Leonard gave his husband a quick glance and the Scotsman nodded in agreement.
"Aye. That sounds like fun."
"Well then, I guess we'll have to join in too. After all, we can't have Lenny messing up the lovely cookies." Leah gave her little brother a cheeky wink and he stuck his tongue out at her.
David just sighed and shook his head, before he laughed eventually.
"Our children really will always be children, Eleanor."
The queen had to laugh too.
"But we love them anyway."
Before Leah or Leonard could say anything in return, Francine already spoke up.
"Well, I'm just happy when our lovely children all help me bake."
After lunch, the small group made their way to the kitchen. Francine said that she already had some ideas of what cookies they could bake and all the recipes sounded incredibly tasty.
Before they reached the kitchen, however, Scotty grabbed Robbie by the wrist. His brother stopped and gave him a puzzled look.
"Ye go on ahead. We'll be right behind ye," Scotty called to the others before he and Robbie went into the nearby library.
"What's going on, Monty?"
The look Scotty gave his little brother gave it all away. He raised an eyebrow.
Robbie groaned.
"Ye noticed," he said and Scotty nodded.
"Of course I did. What happened? Did ye have a fight with Granddad?"
It took a moment for Robbie to answer, his eyes fixed on the floor.
"He doesn't think I'm ready to marry Leah and be by the crown princess's side."
Scotty's lips formed a silent 'oh'. He should have guessed something like that. Granddad was always worried about the future of his grandchildren.
"So... How do ye feel about it?"
Robbie's eyes traveled from the floor up to Scotty. Determination burned in them.
"I can do this. I'm ready!"
Scotty had never seen his brother so confident before. Nothing seemed to be able to unsettle him. And that was a clear sign.
Scotty smiled gently as he put a hand on Robbie's shoulder and squeezed it.
"Well then, everything that needs to be said has been said. Ye know best. I ken how important Granddad's opinion is to ye, but... in the end, it all comes down to ye. Show him that ye can do it. Cause I know ye can."

Sides in Space (Name for AU pending)
F*ck it, we ball. Have a bit of what I have written for my Sanders Sides/Star Trek Crossover AU
"Dr. McCoy, he's waking up." An unfamiliar said in the distant fog of his pounding head.
"Thanks, Nurse Chapel," another unfamiliar voice answered. Dread began twisting in his gut, sending his heart racing. "Captain Sanders?" The voice called. "Sir, can you hear me?"
His eyes fluttered open and a man that almost seemed familiar stood over him.
"Captain Sanders, I'm Dr. McCoy-"
"Where's Dr. Sanchez?"
McCoy sighed. "Can you tell me what you remember from the last few hours?"
"Not untill you tell me where Dr. Sanchez is," he challenged.
McCoy nodded and took a seat beside the bed. "Dr. Sanchez was killed in the line of duty," he answered solemnly. "I'm sorry, Captain."
Thomas went pale. "How?"
"Approximately 72 hours ago, Star Fleet recieved an urgent message from Vulcan. They were being attacked by an unknown enemy with an unknown weapon. The Fleet deployed all available ships to aid Vulcan, including yours and the Enterprise, the ship your on now. There were complications and the Enterprise arrived moments after the rest of the Fleet, also under attack. We pulled in as many Kelvin pods as we could, that's how you ended up here. It's...a lot to explain, and I honestly don't understand most of it, but Vulcan was destroyed. The enemy created a singularity within the planet. When the planet it went...it took a lot of the Fleet with it."
Tears ran openly down the captain's cheeks. "My crew?" He asked, his chest beginning to heave.
McCoy shook his head. "We don't know, we haven't been able to confirm...everyone we lost. I'm so sorry. As soon as I know anything, you'll know. You have my word."
Thomas nodded. "Thank you," he croaked.
"I know this is a lot, but I do need to go over at least some of your injuries with you."
"Aisde from the concussion?" He coughed, trying to regain his composure.
McCoy gave half a smile. "Yessir. When we opened your pod, you a pretty significant injury to your lower right leg. Someone had apparently done some emergency treatment before getting you into the pod because there was a tourniquet applied-"
"This isn't good news, is it?"
"No sir," McCoy shook his head. "We had to do an emergency amputation."
Thomas dropped his head back, pressing a hand over his mouth as tears started again down his cheeks. "This can't be happening," he gasped. "It ca- this- it's not- this can't be happening."
"Captain, I'm gonna need you to take a deep breath," Dr. McCoy advised. "Breathe in slowly through your nose. And out throughout your mouth. That's right, just like that."
Thomas tried to do as he was told, but something broke in his chest and he fell into heaving sobs. Strong arms wrapped around him and Thomas clung to the other man like a life line.
Thomas blinked, his eyes blurred and gunky, and found his head rested against a blue clad shoulder. The arms around his back loosened as he sat up.
"You alright?"
"Sorry-"
"Don't be," McCoy cut in and helped him rest back on the bed. "You've lost a lot. You need to grieve. We all need that."
---
"Any word?" Captain Sanders asked hopefully when Dr. McCoy came into his hospital room. They'd been back on earth nearly a week and every day he'd asked if any of his crew had been found. The death toll had been astronomical and more were declared dead everyday as they sorted through what was left of the rumble and did their best to identify bodies.
Even most of the cadets that had been sent up had been lost. Still Thomas tried to remain hopeful that at least some of crew had been found and survived as he had. But the look on Leonard's face was was quickly driving that hope away.
"I'm sorry," Leonard murmured.
His heart began to pound in his chest. "How many?" He asked, trying to be brave, but Dr. McCoy shook his head.
"None."
Tears dripped from his deep brown eyes. "What?"
Leonard took one of Thomas's hands in both his own. "They weren't able to find any survivors among your crew. I'm so sorry."
"But there's over four hundred- how could they not-"
---
There was a light tap on the hospital door and Dr. McCoy entered the room. "Admiral Sanders? Admiral Pike is here to see you if you're up to it."
"Think he'd actually take no for an answer?" He asked without taking his eyes off the window.
"Not in my experience, sir."
Thomas let out a weighty sigh and nodded. "Let him in."
"Yessir." Len stepped aside and opened the door for Pike to wheel himself into the room.
"Afternoon, Admiral!" Pike said cheerily and wheeled himself over to the window seat. His face softened as he watched the younger man stare out the window. "How ya holdin' up today, son?"
"I, uh, I tried to run a sim today. Dr. McCoy cleared me to do just a basic flight sim, I wasn't even the one running it and, uh-" He clenched his jaw gesturing to the hospital room. "It wasn't even- There wasn't even anything happening in it. It was just a regular orbital sim. But I panicked. Panicked and apparently hyperventilated myself into passing out and hit my head on the way down."
"Let me guess, Dr. McCoy wanted you to stick around a few hours so he could monitor you?"
Thomas nodded. "He was worried since I already had a pretty severe concussion."
"Yeah, that sounds about right for him. So. What's the damage report then?"
Thomas side eyed him. "This one of those trick questions you're famous for?"
Chris smirked. "Yes, it is. Dr. McCoy gave me an update before he let me in here."
"I've got project for you, Admiral," Pike announced and took a seat across the desk from Thomas.
The younger man sighed. "Do you really have to call me that?"
"It is your rank, son. You need to get used to hearing it."
"It wasn't my idea."
"You could retire," Chris suggested drawning a tired glare from Thomas. He chuckled and held out a data pad. "Here. Take a look at these."
"Cadet files?"
Pike nodded. "I want you to pick out a couple command track cadets to mentor-"
"Oh right, like you did with Dr. McCoy," Thomas agreed wryly.
Pike smiled, relieved to hear some color back in the young man's voice. "Exactly. The Fleet is working on implementing a new program that would allow cadets to spend their last year working on a ship, training directly under a Cheif Offficer in their field of study, with the idea that they would be immediately placed on said ship upon graduation and be trained to take over that position when that CO retires or in emergency situations."
"Isn't that basically what happened with the Enterprise?"
"More or less," Pike agreed. "It wasn't ideal, but it was successful. The idea is that next time they won't be under-prepared."
"Maybe we should focus more on there not being a next time."
"We're doing that too," Pike assured.
He nodded with a sigh as he flicked through the list of names.
"You still with me, son?" Chris waited a beat. "Captain."
Thomas's head snapped up. "Hm?"
"You still with me?" Pike repeated.
He blinked several times then glanced away with a sigh, working his jaw. "Maybe I should retire," he murmured to himself.
"Is that what you want?"
"I want my crew back."
"I know, son," Pike assured softly. "You lost a lot of good folk-"
"I lost them all."
"But it wasn't your fault. You gave the orders to evacuate and those orders were carried out-"
"But what if I was wrong? What if- Maybe I shouldn't have, maybe-"
"Your ship was torn apart, admiral, evacuation would have been necessary no matter what."
Thomas nodded, trying to blink away the tears in his eyes.
"I know it still hurts. It will for a long time and it'll come in waves. And sometimes those waves will knock you over and that's okay. But I wholeheartedly believe you're capable of making a difference in the lives of these cadets, there's a lot they can learn from you and I'm willing to bet, there's a lot you can learn from them. I know I've certainly learned a lot from my boys. All that said, there's no shame in needing to step away if that's what's going to be best for you."
---
Pike glanced up from the list of cadets, brow arched in amusement. He glanced back down again scrolling over the list once more. "Admiral, not a single one of these cadets are command track."
"Cadet Sinclair is on track to become a pilot," Thomas pointed out.
"There are six names here."
"There are two sets of siblings."
"You're sure on all these?"
"They're all within the top ten of their class and have been overlooked by multiple admirals and commanding officers in their fields of study," Thomas explained. "This program is supposed prepare cadets for the field. I don't think that training should be restricted to those at the very top of their fields. We should support all cadets, not just those who 'earn' it."
Pike smiled crookedly and nodded. "Alright. Let's reach out."

9 People to Get to Know Better (Tag Game)
alright...this year I'm resolving to be more of an active participant in fandom...this year I'm resolving to be more of an active participant in fandom...thank you to @dustykneed for tagging me, I'll try to do my best with this!
3 ships you like:
Outside of the obvious (*cough*persistent star trek brainrot*cough*) I'm gonna say Winterbaron (Bucky Barnes/Zemo), Barmaro (Nick Amaro/Rafael Barba from That Cop Show That is Still Somehow Being Aired), and LinSu (Lin Chen/Mei Changsu from Nirvana in Fire aka 琅琊榜). What do these have in common? Almost nothing lol, but maybe there's an argument to be made about a common "on the surface we seem so different/present ourselves differently, but deep down we understand a part of each other in a way no one else does (whether we like/admit it or not)" dynamic.
First ship ever:
I legitimately do not remember this, but I've kept a journal/diary since I was 7, and once I went to look up the entries around when I first discovered fandom (early teens, 12-14 ish) and would you believe it, there's a page of me yelling very passionately about Spones and Mckirk, which...is just mind-boggling to me because I've always thought my first ship was Stanner (Tony Stark/Bruce Banner). So I'm still claiming Stanner, but...LMAO
Last song you heard:
...to answer this honestly, it was technically a rather...sub-par rendition of Eminem's "Rap God" by my very dear sister during last night's post new year's dinner living room karaoke. The last song that came up on my phone playlist though was apparently "San Francisco" by The Mowgli's.
Favorite childhood book:
"Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!" (a collection of recorded conversations between Ralph Leighton and the titular Richard Feynman)—yeah you can tell I was a fun kid 😭
Currently reading:
"The Rise of Modern Chinese Thought" (《现代中国思想的兴起》) by Wang Hui which is like...an analysis of the connection between Chinese political culture and classical Chinese philosophy. I think. I'm only like 50 pages in and I'm discovering that I may be too stupid to really understand what's going on. Also, "Like the Argonaut" by trash_heron on Ao3 which is a (still in-progress) Spones epic that's in the middle of going through all of TOS with some really interesting worldbuilding things and integration of other Trek series with the TOS events.
Currently watching:
The Bear, which I'm enjoying a lot even though I'm watching it...incredibly slowly due to constantly getting distracted by other things 😭
Currently consuming:
Leftover dimsum from breakfast/brunch 👍
Currently craving:
Bones McCoy content, always craving more Bones content 💙💙💙
Tagging (absolutely no pressure!! ...I only have like 20 mutuals so to reach 9 about half of you are being tagged I'm so sorry):
@chucktaylorupset @themf-scholar @youandthemountains @fluffy-leech @fely-v @endren @milarca @bogwarg @hopefulcanary (and anyone else who sees this and wants to do it obviously)

I an once again Scheming
(just like my mcspirk bingo card this is just me rambling through ideas for these, haha. and yes, yes these are uhhhhh p much exclusively centered on mccoy, but in, like, a triumvirate way, probably, whether romantic or platonic)
also feel free to peruse my ramblings if you want, but only if you're okay with?? the prompts above??? i'm just going to point at that big black box above as a trigger warning.
(These are specifically NOT supposed to be, uh, Stories, they are supposed to just be me, y'know, trying to write for fun lmaoooo, and I am, unfortunately, going to be SO mean to Leonard McCoy (i'm so sorry best beloved, it's only because I love you so so so so so much)
Recorded/Broadcast Torture (there are few things that make me want to eat drywall and punch the sky as much as this prompt. I am so sorry for who I am going to reveal myself to be when i write this lmaooooo. but you can't put a big screen on the bridge, and then not expect cardboard cutout evil people to force you to watch them torture your doctor, tbh.)
Captive Push (spock, mccoy, & kirk being force marched an incredibly long distance? mccoy, not only the least fit of the three, but the one most likely to mouth off? yeah.)
Hurts to Breathe (thinking about the scene in Castle with Esposito and Ryan where Ryan is getting half-drowned in ice water. Not 100 on this, but that's what first came to mind.)
Claustrophobia (same, babe, same. I'm honestly thinking of that scene in the first season of The 100 where Kane crawls through the bowels of the ship or whatever to get to Abby to save her.)
Killing in Self-Defense (actually SO into this for McCoy - specifically SELF-defense, not defending someone else. EXTREMELY this. a big bowl of guilt that looks so yummy. spock and kirk both have to be like. Hey. We need you alive.)
Forced to Kneel/Bow (see the thing is i don't think mccoy would actually hesitate for a moment to kneel if someone else's life is at stake. i don't think it would even bother him for a second. but he would make a beautiful damsel to make others kneel. you see my vision?)
Knife to the Throat (I do actually already have this plotted and started from that initial post when I was like HMMM should I get a bad things happen bingo card lmao)
Scarpia Ultimatum (Khan???? Khan?????? Almost definitely Khan tbh, I am so sorry Leonard my love)
Innocent Bystander (you're the wrong guy in the wrong place at the wrong goddamn time)
Chained Heat (Leonard and Spock ABSOLUTELY chained together and trying to save Jim, like this writes itself tbh [narrator: she says this all the time and nothing ever writes itself???])
Sensory Deprivation (i had an idea for a different fandom a million years ago re: sensory deprivation, specifically the aftermath, where the character just genuinely Could Not Stand To Be Alone for, like, weeks. and there is something there re: that tbh. especially the hiding it? the trying to deal with it on his own? the frustration of Spock and Kirk of let me help. yeah. I might steal that from myself wholesale tbh.)
Compelling Voice (i was gonna say this could be my plato's stepchildren au BUT that's not really the same thing, is it. maybe something more similar to archons, as in: forced to hurt the ones you love. HMMMM.)
Sleep Deprivation (50/50 on if this is self-inflicted or not - aka running oneself ragged dealing w/ an emergency or forcibly kept awake by bad guys, honestly will just play that by ear when I get there. *ETA - okay i actually know what i'm doing with this now - mccoy, already badly sleep deprived, is accidentally poisoned by spock (vulcan coffee is poisonous to humans who knew) AND part of them ensuring it's safely out of his system involves him having to stay awake for a further idk 48 hours as spock tries to pretend guilt isn't eating him alive (ty elian & discord)*)
Bridal Carry (let the Vulcan bridal carry the injured doctor!!!! He deserves it!!! they both do!!!! *eta: actually, like, i am considering the comedy value of mccoy just having to be bridal carried by multiple people? like he's half-in half-out of consciousness and every time he's lucid he's FURIOUS at this, but they HAVE to get a like a full day's walk away, and spock is MOSTLY the one carrying him, but like kirk and scotty and others have to help as well (they're probably doing fireman carry's tho tbh, they're not as strong as spock), but !!! carry the doctor to the finish line!! get him somewhere safe!! he is SO angry at this!!! at one point uhura and chekhov have his arms around their shoulders and they're carrying him and he is Spitting Mad and trying to insist he can walk, and she just kisses his cheek and tells if he doesn't shut up and let them help she's gonna break his legs <333 and he's like jesus christ uhura, and she just smiles sweetly and says they're gonna save him despite himself tbh. he's probably like. poisoned. so he's super disoriented and has no balance and CAN'T walk, but no broken bones/etc to have to worry about. also that gives an inherent time crunch. yeah. yeah.*)
Terms of Endangerment (honestly the bad guys calling the good guy darling/sweetheart/etc while hurting them is like.......................................yeah. yeah. yeah. yeah. what if they kiss the inside of your wrist and tell you how good you're being for them, and then they push their knife a little deeper in your side. what then.)
Ears Ringing (explosion, bleeding a little from the ears, stumbling through the wreckage trying to help people, possibly doesn't realized he's more injured than he thinks until someone else points it out)
Attack the Injury (this is one that always gets a visceral reaction from me when they do it on shows/movies. i imagine it will also get a visceral reaction from kirk and spock when it's done to mccoy.)
Going into Shock (classic of the genre, what even needs to said, the people who love you are gonna say your name so gently and then start yelling it as they panic, you know how this goes, c'mon)
Tongue-Tied (classic that tumblr post "we're the fucking-with-you-aliens and we're here to fuck with you" situation tbh)
Empathic Healing (hey wouldn't it be fucked up if the Vians gave that ability to McCoy when they healed him? Wouldn't that be super fucked up? Spock and Kirk are gonna hunt them down and kill them with their bare hands, tbh. that is like the one superpower McCoy could absolutely not handle. I'd have to figure a way to get him out of it tho so that requires some Thought.)
Denied Food as Punishment (he's too skinny already =( he's giving his food to the prisoners he thinks need it more so he doesn't get any =( he's sitting at a table overflowing with food and if he takes a single bite it means no one else will be allowed to eat. something along those lines)
Cave In (i mean genuinely who doesn't love a good ot3 cave in stylez)
Love Potion/Love Spell (i'm more a fan of the non-traditional versions of this tbh - the person who gives the potion isn't the one the potion drinker falls in love with. like maybe character a is secretly dating characters b and c, but the potion giver doesn't know that, and to try to sow chaos has character a "fall in love" with character b - which leads to character a seemingly falling out of love with character c. something to think about.)
I Ain't Got Time to Bleed (honestly he could've invented this trope.)
Shock Collar (see you put a shock collar on a doctor and then you put him near injured people and you tell him he isn't allowed to heal anyone and then you pretend you're not watching (j/k i really have nothing planned for this that was just my first immediate thought))
Here is your card for Bad Things Happen Bingo. Happy writing!

age gap
tony stark oneshot
tony x you
swearing, large age gap
in this day and age it shouldn’t have been that big of a deal.
but it was.
y/n l/n and tony stark became trending worldwide, every gossip magazine and newspaper out for whatever information they could get about your relationship.
the relationship by the way, that had a 28 year age gap.
you were 20 and tony was turning 48, though it seemed neither of you cared as much as the world did.
you thought it was perfectly normal, seeing as your parents were years apart and tony simply didn’t give a damn.
‘screw the tabloids’ he always said, but sometimes it wasn’t that easy.
at home, you were able to relax with the idea of your age gap as it was just the two of you being y/n and tony.
but out in public, it was an entirely different deal.
whispers, stares, pictures. you name it and people did it, not even caring or respecting your private time with tony when you went out.
you didn’t expect for it to bother you as much as it did. you thought that maybe with tony by your side you could block out the whispers and the hateful stares but it was nearly impossible as it happened almost everywhere you went.
even if you went grocery shopping for god’s sake, someone still had something negative to say.
of course, tony defended you as much as he could. he tried to shield you from the hateful words and articles but sometimes he wasn’t enough.
sometimes, it did get to you and soon you realized you didn’t know how much more you could take.
you loved tony, but after being constantly called a gold digger and his sugar baby, you began to doubt yourself, and your relationship.
were you really as manipulative as the papers said? were you really just with tony for his money?
of course not. deep down you knew that with or without money you loved tony stark. and he loved you, but it didn’t help that he also loved to spoil you and he was paying almost all of your college tuition.
even though you insisted he didn’t, he did anyways. he reassured you after countless protest that that was just something he did; he took care of everyone he loved.
eventually you were forced to settle with the idea. but it never stopped the running thoughts in your head.
am i really that bad as everyone says?
it was during a christmas party that tony was holding that you finally snapped.
tony had gone all out; getting the most expensive decorations and inviting all of the richest people he knew.
and of course, since it was tony, he also got the best alcohol money could buy, and unfortunately you weren’t allowed to drink a single drop.
all night, you had stood awkwardly by tony’s side in your pretty red dress, holding a cup full of water and laughing uncomfortably as you were forced to listen to drunk rich people tell unamusing stories.
by now, the music was blasting, night had fallen, and you were pretty sure you were only one not drunk at the party, minus tony and steve.
the elegant cup that you pretended to drink from held nothing expect for water and it was only another painful reminder that you were probably the youngest one at the party.
out of respect, tony decided he wasn’t going to drink either but that did nothing to ease you. If anything, you wished that he had been drinking so that he wouldn’t remember the embarrassing conversation you were having with some of the housewives he invited.
“so, y/n, tell me,” a woman name martha kalnins gushed as she sat on one of tony’s luxurious couches, obviously drunk from one of the many glasses of wine she had had. “Is Tony really as amazing in bed as everyone says he is?”
a round of laugher from the other housewives around you made you shift uncomfortably, thankful the dark room didn’t show the frown radiating off of you.
“uh… i uh,” you sounded like a child, struggling to answer her question and you laughed uncomfortably as to not show how disturbed you really were. you shared a look with tony.
“i mean … h-he’s great at everything, honestly. it’s tony stark we’re talking about,” you answered unsurely, and tony squeezed your thigh as the women laughed again.
“oh, i guess you’re right,” martha slurred and took another drink. “that tony is a catch. hell, if i had been twenty years younger like you i would’ve snatched him up, too. with that tight little body of yours it’s no wonder he’s so eager to pay your bills.”
another round of laughter and you could feel tony beginning to tense up beside you. now, it was your turn to squeeze his leg and you turned back to the women with a tight smile.
“oh, tony doesn’t pay my bills,” you tried to assure them but they waved it off.
“oh nonsense. why else would you be with a man that’s almost 50?” another woman asked you and you threw her a sharp glare.
you were starting to heat up, not appreciating their little jabs at your relationship.
“why am i with him?” you pulled out your cold tone and scoffed at her. “i don’t know— maybe because i love him?” you said a little angrily.
how dare they insinuate anything else than the truth: you loved tony and you didn’t give a damn about his age.
the woman snorted. “yeah. that’s what i told myself when i first met howie,” she threw a glance to an older man in the corner. “sure does make the sex a lot easier when you think you love them.”
you couldn’t stop your blood from boiling.
“how dare you!”
in an instant, you were up and out of your seat, the woman’s smile long gone as you angrily got in her face.
“y/n!” tony tried to stop you but you were sick of it. you were sick of it all; the jokes, the jabs, the little comments that nobody had any business making on your relationship.
you were done.
“how dare you talk about my relationship like that when you know nothing about us!” you fumed and suddenly you had everyone’s attention.
“who are you come into our house and as our guest disrespect us? you don’t know a thing about tony and i. not a single damn thing. you don’t know about all of the late nights we have, all of the laughs we share and all of the movies we watch. you don’t know about all the things we have in common besides sex and you damn well don’t know anything about me! you don’t, because if you did then you’d know i’m not with him for the money, or the fame, or whatever else you think is associated with tony stark. i’m not here for any of that. i’m here for him, so why don’t you get your head out of your ass and realize that just because you spread your legs for money, that doesn’t mean the rest of us do!”
by the time you finished you were panting and everyone was in complete shock. it was silent, and the woman in front of you looked as if she didn’t know what the hell to do.
no one did as you stood with your chest moving heavily, your well deserved rant coming off of your consciousness.
you huffed.
“well then. seeing as i’m only 20, i guess it’s past my bedtime,” you rolled your eyes and looked at the clock, noticing it was 1AM.
“i’ll see you all … whenever. goodnight.”
you did a dramatic turn and then proceeded to exit tony stark style. leaving a big commotion behind you and no doubt people that would spread your words everywhere the next morning.
that would be another problem you would have to worry about, but right now you focused on just sleeping the entire night away.
sighing, you changed out of your dress into some shorts and swiftly got under the covers.
you closed your eyes, and you tried to let sleep come to you but it was almost impossible as you were painfully aware the spot next to you was empty.
tony hadn’t come to bed yet and it was like your body refused to let you rest until he did.
sighing again, you peeled your eyes open again and decided to stare up at the blank ceiling, waiting for tony to come to bed.
when he finally did, it was around 3AM in the morning but even the dark you could see his shit-eating grin.
“well, that was quite the performance tonight, miss l/n,” tony teased almost immediately and you groaned.
“sorry if i ruined your party,” you apologized to tony and buried your face in a pillow. “i just got so mad that people kept insinuating i was only with you for that that i just … i just snapped.” you explained.
tony was still grinning and you felt the bed dip as he gently slid in beside you.
“don’t worry about it. i’d say that was more entertaining than mrs. mccoy getting so drunk she admitted she was cheating with garden boy,” tony laughed and you snorted.
“great. i was the biggest scandal of the night,” you sighed.
“biggest one of the century, actually. how long do you think it’s gonna take for people to start talking about it?”
“i’d say it’ll make an appearance in the morning. some magazine talking about how tony stark’s sugar baby finally blew her fuse,” you yawned and tony chuckled.
“yeah well, at lease i don’t have to worry about if it’s true now.”
“worry if what’s true?”
“that you love me,” he said quietly.
you peered up at him in the dark.
“tony? what? of course i love you,” you frowned. you felt the pillow shift as tony shook his head.
“no, yeah, i know,” he said. “but now i don’t have to worry about if it’s tony stark you’re attracted to, or iron man.”
“clearly i wouldn’t be attracted to a piece of metal, tony,” you both rolled your eyes simultaneously.
“yeah, no shit,” tony sighed. “but i mean like— i don’t have to worry about which personality you’re attracted to. now i know for sure that it’s me that you want, and not just my name. or my fortune.”
“well, technically both are still up from grabs,” you smirked in the dark. “haven’t signed a pre-nup yet.”
“oh but you definitely will now,” tony scoffed, but there was humor behind both of your words.
you both found comfort in knowing that you only wanted each other, and not for the reasons everyone else thought.
you weren’t with tony for the money. and he wasn’t with you for the sex.
you both genuinely and honestly loved each other, and now you knew that no ridiculous tabloid or paper was ever gonna make you doubt that again.

Tropetember Day 11 - Time Travel / Amnesia / Coma
Coma comma revelation
Pairing: James T Kirk x GN!Reader
Fandom: Star Trek AOS
Rating: General Audiences
TW: Coma, minor swear
AN: Day 11 of @tropetember. Sorry for the wait, life has been a bit mad. Not the best but hope you enjoy :)
The aftermath of an away mission gone wrong.
Find this story on Ao3 here.
Word Count: 1.3k
It wasn’t uncommon for members of an away crew to end up in the sickbay upon their return to the Enterprise. Injuries regularly ranged from small cuts and bruises to native diseases to broken bones. A visit to Dr McCoy was something all members of the crew had to mentally prepare before beaming down. What was uncommon was for people to be in the sickbay for longer than an overnight stay.
Spock and Kirk had both had a couple of longer stopovers following heroic (read: risky) actions. Dr McCoy dreaded either, or worse both of them, being there because they were both hard-headed and constantly tried to sign themselves out against medical advice. Luckily, this wasn’t something McCoy had to worry about with the current resident of the sickbay. What was happening was far more worrying. Because you had been in a coma for 4 days now and nobody had any clue as to what to do.
Running his hand down his face, Dr McCoy’s gaze remained laser focused on the most recent test results, trying to find an answer. Any answer. Even a clue. Nothing. There was nothing indicating why you weren’t waking up.
Sighing quietly to himself he got up and headed to your room, checking on the monitors. He hadn’t even realised anyone else was there until he turned to exit.
Stood leant against the wall next to the door, Captain James T Kirk stood like a sentry. His eyes watched everything in the room, in between regularly checking on you. The Doctor pressed a hand to his heart as he processed his surprise. Had Kirk not been wearing his yellow command shirt, chances are McCoy wouldn't have even noticed him with how still he was standing.
“Jim, you’re the Captain not a shadow” he observed, his normal gruffness softened slightly.
The gentle rebuke received no response from Kirk. He simply flicked his eyes from the body in the hospital bed to McCoy and back again.
It was clear to see that all was not right with the Captain. His uniform was creased, his eyes red. He looked like he hadn’t slept in days.
“Jim, you ok?”
A small sigh and a shake of the head is all he receives in response. McCoy props himself up against the wall next to him, a show of silent solidarity.
"They weren't even supposed to be there, Bones."
You'd opted to go on the away mission instead of Mr Spock to allow the Vulcan some time off from Kirk-sitting, and as part of your push to keep at least one of them on the ship at all times. "Cos, you know, regulations" was all you scoffed when someone pointed out that they'd both made a break for it onto some distant moon, leaving you as Lieutenant Commander in charge of the ship.
The additional position had been created to help support the demands of a 5 year mission on the crew as a whole. Given the Enterprise's tendency to have an engineering emergency in the middle of crisis, Mr Scott was often unable to support in the way the Chief Engineer may on other ships. You bridged the gap, allowing Kirk, Spock and Scotty to hand over some of their day-to-day responsibilities to focus on the extreme.
Though they had initially railed against it, they would all now agree that your presence had improved the efficiency of the ship. It also allowed them all some welcome downtime. The crew appreciated that more than they would ever admit in front of the higher-ups. Kirk in particular could get bitchy when he was tired.
Something that no one would have predicted about adding you to the crew, was the depth of the friendships you had formed with the command crew. In particular, you had developed a close friendship with the Captain, despite his initial wariness. You and Jim were regularly spotted in observation watching the stars float by whilst having a drink, or heading to each other's quarters with a holodisk in hand.
Jim, for his part, had been reluctant to get to know you. The Captain of a starship is supposed to be separate from the rest of their crew. But, as with the interpersonal relationships between the crew, the length of the mission had required these expectations be adjusted in the interest of crew morale.
The outcome of the slow blossoming relationship with you was something he had not predicted. Where he always felt responsible when crew were hurt, the shot of ice through his system when he saw you being stabbed with a syringe was much, much stronger. More importantly, his almost visceral reaction had been completely unexpected. He was the Captain, he had to look out for everyone. Yet, he spent every second of the day and night since returning to the Enterprise worrying about you.
Drawing himself back from his thoughts he glances to Bones, who is watching him with a combination of concern and soft understanding.
“We have the best people in the Federation working on this Jim.” He gently grasps Kirk’s upper arm. “They’ll be ok. You’ll get them back.” He pauses then, glancing between the two of them. “Then you can maybe have an honest conversation about the two of you.”
Kirk sharply glances at him over his shoulder before allowing his own shoulders to sag.
“I hadn’t even realised,” he quietly whispers, moving to the side of the bed. He takes your hand in his before sitting down next to the bed. “It’s not allowed, Bones.”
McCoy for his part just smiles at him.
“Never stopped you before”
That gets a small smile out of the Captain as he turns his eyes back to you. He’s so focused on you that he doesn’t even notice as Dr McCoy slips out to head to his office.
-----------
Waking up after being unconscious for an unknown amount of time is, in a word, disorienting. The sickbay lights are bright, your throat is dry and sore and your head feels like it’s stuffed with cotton wool.
It takes you a while to come to but you’re ever so grateful to hear Dr McCoy's southern drawl welcoming you back.
“There you are darlin’, you had us worried.”
You let him run all of his tests without complaint, using the time to orient yourself. It’s not until he’s nearly finished that you notice there’s someone else in the room. You throw Jim a small smile, followed by a grimace as McCoy hits you with a hypospray.
“That should be everything for the minute,” McCoy tells you. “We’re going to keep you in for observation for a few days but your recovery is going as well as we could have hoped.”
You smile in relief at that, and he tells you he’ll be back in a few minutes before he heads out of the room.
After taking a moment to shuffle yourself into a more comfortable position, you wave a hand at Jim to beckon him over. He takes a gentle hold of your hand as he moves closer. It fills you with warmth and you can’t help a small smile.
“Managed not to blow up the ship while I was out of commission then?” you tease, wanting the frown to disappear from his face. He shakes his head in response.
“I honestly don’t know. I haven’t really left this room.”
You glance at him surprised, and then see the soft expression on his face. Huh. You thought it was just you.
Taking the plunge, you gently tug at his hand until he slides into bed next to you, your head resting on his chest. The beat of his heart starts to lull you back to sleep.
It’s probably best to rest while you can, you decide. You’ve got a lot to talk about.

So about Beverly Crusher and Dr Pulaski (sorry pulaski i forgot your first name and it's 6am so I'm not gonna look it up).
Honestly I'm new to the Trek fandom and I already saw a lot of Opinions on Pulaski so I'll keep that bit brief: She did really feel like someone tried and failed to recreate McCoy. Oh, she's got the "Not afraid to mouth off the commanding officer" and the "grumpy" and the "rude comments toward the resident Emotionless Nonhuman", and she's even got his fear of transporters (which... Wasn't even that prevalent in TOS and got embellished later on but I digress).
I've seen several posts already saying that Pulaski and Data do NOT work the same as Bones and Spock did because Spock could shoot right back, while Data cannot. And yeah that's right I have nothing more to say in that regard.
But even the other stuff. Now I'll admit, Pulaski got far less focus than McCoy, so it's hard to adequately compare them. But even the other bits tend to feel a little Off - Mouthing off the commanding officer has different vibes if they're also best friends, for example. It's not worse, it's just different - but it makes it feel like they were going for McCoy, and fell short, making it feel worse.
"But Lua where does Beverly feature?" Well see. Another reason we didn't need Pulaski to be another McCoy: Beverly already makes for a better one.
Yes she's not grumpy or snarky or snappy. But she has the heart that defined McCoy. McCoy is the guy who opted to regrow a random woman's liver, potentially messing up the timeline be damned, he's a doctor and what he does is help people. He's the guy who grinned ear to ear after helping the Horta. He's a healer first, a grump second. And in that vein, Beverly is often the one to advocate against the Prime Directive to ease someone's suffering, because she, too, is a healer. Oh, and she also kinda mouths off at her Captain, she's just gentle and friendly about it.
Pulaski would have worked so much better if they hadn't tried to go for McCoy. Take away her jerkness towards Data at first and her fear of transporters and you've got a perfectly viable character! (I'll admit I'm always biased when it comes to Data, but this isn't a case of "I want everyone to be nice to Data", it's a case of "Not being excessively mean to Data would've in my opinion been narratively better.")
The way Pulaski was done, it felt like while Beverly embodies what McCoy is (while still being her own unique character), Pulaski is what happens if you take one look at McCoy and try to copy that. And then people notice and are unsatisfied. And while i don't particularly like Pulaski, she deserves to be her own character.
#Star Trek#Beverly Crusher#Dr Pulaski#Next Generation#TNG#Also while Bones does bicker with Spock about Spock's anatomy and pointy ears and stuff#Mostly Bones targets Spock using rationality over emotions - which while a cultural thing is kind of a choice; it'd be hard but Spock could#theoretically choose to start showing emotions instead of hiding them. I'm not saying he SHOULD (what he does works decently for him)#and he certainly doesn't want to but he could. he has an influence over the main reason for their bickering.#Pulaski's main issue with Data however is that he's an android. Something Data had no say in and something he cannot change#Also like Bones and Spock have known each other for a while while Pulaski and Data are strangers#Like if I make a math mistake or w/e and my friend comments ''as expected of a Blondie like you'' I'd laugh#But if a stranger were to say I'm stupid because of my hair color I would not look at it anywhere near as favorably

In Our Favor
Part 35
McCoy
McCoy did his best to push aside his concerns as Scotty happily pulled him along on their walk. The sun was warm but the breeze was cool and McCoy knew it would only get cooler the closer they got to the water.
“This is an old city,” McCoy said as they walked. He looked around, taking in everything.
“Aye. Nae as old as ol’ Aberdeen though,” Scotty said.
McCoy smiled. Scotty’s accent had thickened as he mentioned his home.
“Lots of history though,” Scotty conceded after a moment. “Lots of importance to the Federation.” McCoy caught Scotty glance at him slyly.
“Yes,” McCoy laughed. “I know all those dates. But honestly that’s all I know of the city. I want to know more. Who’s been here? What else has been done here?”
“Me too. There’s been earthquakes, and the old prison, and the bridges, but beyond anything Starfleet related I dinnae ken either.”
“So where is this beach we’re going to?” McCoy asked.
“Near the bridge.”
“And you know where to go?”
“Of course. Unlike ye, I actually look at the maps.” Scotty lifted his chin as he said the words.
“Hey!” McCoy laughed and tried to pull his hand from Scotty’s.
“Nae! Ye’re mine,” Scotty laughed as well and tightened his grip. “Even if ye’re terrible with directions.”
“I never had to deal with directions before,” McCoy retorted.
“Oh right love, yer highness, always somebody to do it for ye.” Scotty’s eyes were twinkling with mirth as he looked at McCoy.
“Hey! What is this? Make fun of your husband day? At least I- at least I…”
Scotty stopped and looked at McCoy expectantly.
“I don’t, uh… I got nothing,” McCoy gave up. “You’re perfect and wonderful at everything.”
“Oh. Len.” Scotty’s face flushed. “Ye know that’s not true.”
“It is,” McCoy said, and he leaned in to kiss Scotty. “Now. Take me to this beach because I can’t read a map.” He grinned, and Scotty laughed.
“Wow,” McCoy said quietly.
They had made their way west after leaving campus. Many things had caught McCoy’s eye that he wanted to go back and see. He knew Scotty wanted to see the ocean first, and after all this city was going to be their home for quite a few years. They’d have time to find all its ins and outs and secrets.
They stood at the top of a bluff watching the waves crash on the beach below them.
“Can we go down there or…?” He looked over at Scotty.
“There’s people down there. There must be a way. Did ye want to?”
“It’s kinda nice just right here for now,” McCoy said.
“Alright mo ghràdh,” Scotty agreed and leaned against McCoy.
As they stood quietly, watching the waves roll on the beach, McCoy couldn’t help but think of Spock again. He had skipped breakfast and so had Jim. He sincerely hoped something bad wasn’t happening between them. A thought hit him.
“Len? What’s wrong?”
McCoy blinked in surprise at Scotty. His husband must have felt him suddenly tense.
“What if it’s because of T’Pring?”
“Who?” Scotty looked at him in confusion.
“Spock! What if something’s going on because of their dumb Vulcan betrothal?”
Now Scotty was frowning at him.
“I’m sorry,” McCoy said. “I am. I really was trying to forget about it, but that just popped into my head.”
“It’s alright love. It could be that, aye.”
“Spock told me last summer nothing would change until he was of age and he is now. I just assumed they would have sorted it all out on one of their trips to Vulcan. What if they didn’t and now she wants Spock to marry her?”
“Leonard.” Scotty had grabbed both of McCoy's hands and was squeezing gently. “If they want to tell us they will. They know we’re here and care. Alright?”
McCoy nodded slowly. “Alright.”
“I’m worried about them too, but there’s nothing we can do unless they tell us except be ready to listen.”
McCoy sighed and squeezed Scotty’s hands back.
“You’re right. See? I said you were perfect at everything.”
Part 36
Scotty
Even though Leonard didn't mention Spock anymore for the rest of the day, Scotty sure knew that it was still on his mind. And he also knew that his husband wouldn't rest until he had found out what exactly was wrong.
So when they sat down at the table for dinner in the evening and there was still no sign of Spock or Jim, Scotty could tell by the look on Leonard's face that he was going to pay them a visit.
Their friends chatted about how their days had gone and about what had happened, but Scotty couldn't really focus on any of it. In the end, it worried him that Leonard worried so much.
When they parted ways with their friends on campus, Scotty gently grabbed Leonard's hand.
"I'll come with ye," he said and his husband gave him a look of surprise.
"Wha-"
Scotty only shook his head and sighed softly. Did Leonard really think that he was that blind?
"Come on now, ye think I didn't notice the sandwiches ye smuggled with ye? I know ye want to go see Spock and Jim."
Leonard glanced at the bag he was carrying with him. There were books inside that they had bought during their trip to the city, but the prince had also stuffed two sandwiches inside when he had thought nobody was watching.
"It's just... they can't skip every meal! It's unhealthy!"
A soft chuckle escaped Scotty as he nodded.
"Aye, well... I suppose I cannae argue with that logic," he admitted and Leonard gave him a crooked thankful smile.
Quickly, a grin found its way onto Scotty's face as he let go of Leonard's hand and walked a wee bit faster.
"Well, luckily ye have me at yer side or else ye'd get lost and never find their room."
And then Scotty started running.
"Hey!" Leonard called from behind him, playing the offended one and soon enough he was chasing after his husband.
The two of them were really exhausted when they eventually reached the room inside building D1. It had been quite a long run and even though they had taken the elevator, they still needed time to catch their breath again.
They exchanged one more smile and kiss before Leonard turned to ring the bell next to the door.
When they didn't get an answer right away, Leonard rang again, twice this time.
Unfortunately - or in some nightly cases, fortunately - the doors and walls in the buildings were thick and soundproof.
Therefore it wouldn't make any sense to yell.
When Leonard rang the bell one more time after some time, both boys were surprised at the door being forcefully pulled open by an upset looking Spock.
No... not just upset. Furious. Never before had Scotty seen the Vulcan's face filled with so much emotion.
"What?!"
Both, Scotty and Leonard, winced at the loud voice and Leonard even stepped in front of his husband protectively. A habit of him since they had been kidnapped by a group of Romulans the year before.
"Woah, Spock!" Leonard said.
In the back of the room they heard the sound of a door opening.
"Spock! What are you-"
From where he was standing, Scotty was able to catch a glimpse of the boy who had stepped out of the bathroom.
And he was shocked at what he saw.
There, standing in the middle of the room with a bare upper body, was Jim. A black eye and a bloody nose decorated his usually pretty face.
"What the-"
Scotty didn't care about anything in that moment. He just moved forward, pushing Spock aside and ran over to Jim.
"Jim!"
"I'm fine, Scotty. It's... it's fine," Jim said, trying to gently push Scotty's hands away, but the Scotsman didn't believe a word he was saying.
"Nothing is fine! What happened?!"
When Jim's eyes fell on Spock who was still standing at the door with Leonard, Scotty's eyes widened even more than they already had.
He whirled around.
"Spock?"
