Bit of a big ask but what do you think (I forget the ship name) how Storkules/DonDaisy are when any of them are sick, And also with drakepad when the other is sick?

So, when Donald gets sick, he usually just tries to push through it; done it before, it's natural to him. Rest? Donald doesn't know her. Daisy and Storkules say "Nope" and tuck him into bed. Donald doesn't even try to fight it. Mostly because his fever's too high and he was just going along with pretty much anything and everything already at that point.

When Daisy's sick, she wants to be spoiled. Donald and Storkules oblige.

Storkules... Bless his heart, so after certain events that take place in "Stolen Summer!" are revealed and some other things come to pass, Storkules, for the first time in his life, gets sick. He does not know what the hell to do with this "being sick" thing. It's awful. He's miserable. He's confounded and a little offended, actually. He complains about the injustices and indignities of being sick while Donald and Daisy take care of him, both of them saying "Yep, it sucks, now take this medicine and drink this orange juice".

With Drakepad, it's very simple. The one who is sick very grumpily and vehemently asserts that they are not sick while the caretaker one says "sure, babe, you're totally not sick" then sticks a spoonful of soup in the sick one's mouth.

Duck Comic Reading Club Week 7: Paperinik New Adventures: Earthquake

Ok, let's get to the point, this issue is the best one yet. An amazing story and a gorgeous art combined.

Oh God, the art. The Francesco Guerrini work here is astonishing. The use of the colors is masterful. Brilliant in every aspect.

This week story start with an earthquake on Duckburg. No major disaster occurred, except for good old uncle Scrooge.

Why do you insurance your oil rig with your own insurance company?

I mean, I got that he didn't have to pay himself the quota for the service, but now you have to pay for the damages. So, stop complaining you crazy old bird.

But One found out something fishy about the earthquakes, and is up to Donald to investigate this. Is so funny that Duckburg is Paperopoli in italian. Is better than Patolandia tho.

PK took one of the many vehicles at the Tower, and went for a ride, super hero style.

This page is a piece of beauty.

We got a new character, Mary Ann Flagstarr, a PBI agent. Tough lady.

PK had had encounters with the police, but now, he faced federal agents. My boy is not making any friends.

But, you know? A vigilante, a superhero, can't work with the authority. So, yeah, go get them PK.

Another new character, Professor Morgan Fairfax. What a nice fella, I'm sure he has never done anything wrong in his life.

One knows something is not right, they need to keep investigating. But now, is time to go back to the world of cyber space.

Another beautiful page, this issue can't miss.

But is hard to step into a federal database without anyone noticing, so they got caught. Thankfully, One was one step ahead and got himself a great scapegoat.

Oh, now you don't like spread misinformation, right jerk?

He didn't face any charge, and, to be fair, he was innocent. But, if being ugly was a crime, he would get the chair.

Back to the Professor, and he's making some really evil looking smirks. Could it be that he's not the nice guy that we though?

Also, another banger page.

PK infiltrates in the building, using some advance tech. One is a cheat code, and here's being used at his fullness.

PK had a weird Donald moment, when he stuck in the vent, fall to the ground, and got face to face with the worst security guard ever.

Hey, masked vigilante sneaked in this government facility that I supposed to be looking after. I'm gonna make some lame jokes, and then I'm gonna miss the shots less than a meter away.

Don't come in the morning pal.

You know? I'm starting to think that this guy Fairfax is not that nice.

Yeah, yeah, he's the bad guy. Trying to burn PK alive is in my Being Bad Bingo.

And yet another absolutely gorgeous page. Is amazing.

Thankfully, One and his infinite tech come to the rescue. PK also save the guard, because he's a hero.

Now, this one part was kinda weird. Agent Flagstarr has been shown trough the issue as tough, focus agent, that wants to get the job done. But, a few words of Fairfax and a gift are enough to make her dismiss orders.

Also, that face… you can't trust someone with that face…

Now we found about Fairfax plan. He wants to create a earthquake strong enough that the whole planet would change, and new land would appear.

At the cost of the entire west coast being destroyed.

The worst part? One agrees with him. What the hell man? Not cool One, not cool.

PK got in the plane and try to stop Fairfax, but Flagstarr was in his way. The agent was conflicted on what to do. Madam, help the guy who doesn't want to destroy the whole west coast. Is not that hard.

Man, the art on this issue is out of control.

PK is so cool.

Finally, One got a change of heart, if you can said that, and helped PK to stop this madness. I knew One wasn't a psychopath.

But that last image of the device at the bottom of the sea is quite unsettling.

What can I said? This was awesome. I love all the detective PK stuff, the danger was palpable, One almost got Duckburg destroy. The art was magnificent, the colors were vibrant, it looked beautiful in general.

Hands down, the best one yet.

I have a question, what do you think about… spies? Cause they seem to have some similarities to detectives (unless they’re the same thing I’m not sure-), with them working together in an organisation to take down bad guys or evil corporations.

And do you believe you’ll ever become a spy one day? (Cause you being a spy would be cool!)

Last question, about your friend Donald… Do you think he has a secret double life that you don’t know?… specifically being a superhero?👀

Hiya Sunny,

I am havin' a good night. Though also a very busy one. I'm workin' on this really tough case and it's been kinda takin' away time from Tumblr. I hope y'all forgive me for the delayed responses.

But enough 'bout that, you wanna know what I think 'bout spies. Well I think spies are the COOLEST!!! 🤩🤩🤩I remember when I was younger, I would pretend that I was a spy on a super secret mission. I used to find hidin' spots and spy on my neighbors all the time... until I started to get into trouble and learned why that wasn't a good idea.

But I guess I never thought 'bout how similar a detective and a spy is. They really do the same kinda work with the investigatin' and puttin' an end to evil schemes. Though I suppose the main difference is that a spy's true identity is usually kept a secret, while a detective's tend to be public. I actually would find the secrecy very useful. I'll admit one challenge I'm currently facin' as a detective is criminals who try to get their revenge on me off the clock. I kinda wish I went under an alter-ego so people didn't know who I was when I solved crimes... and would leave my loved ones alone.

But ya know, I never really thought 'bout bein' a spy as a career before 🤔, but I also never thought 'bout bein' a detective either, ha ha. Gosh, bein' a spy must be so much fun. I'm not sure if it's like the movies, but I'm gonna pretend it is, ha ha. I can just imagine the amazing globe-trotting adventures. Oh and think about all the super neat gadgets and tools just beggin' to be used. Oh, and what 'bout the super cool secret agent names. I like the sound of "Agent Mouse" or the "M". If ya happen to be aware of any secret organizations lookin' for a spy, send 'em my way... That is... if I'm not already in one 🥸.

But to answer your last question... Donald as a superhero? Hm... Well... I guess... I mean... I dunno. He's already a pretty busy guy. I mean he's currently raisin' three boys who can be a handful at times. Plus Scrooge is always draggin' him 'round Duckburg or even the world to do some kinda job. I just don't think he would have the time. Plus I love Donald, but he has some traits that are pretty iconic and I feel like would be a dead giveaway on who he is. First of all he does struggle a bit when it comes to luck, which could make bein' a hero difficult. But also, not to be mean, Donald has a bit of a... well... ya know... a temper.

I'm not sayin', he could never be a superhero. I think he would be a great one, despite his... flaws. But I think what truly stops me is what superhero would he be. Gizmoduck? The Red Bat? Darkwing Duck? Cloverleaf? The Duck Avenger!?!? Honestly, none of these seem right, especially the last one. I will say though, I'm very interested in where this question comes from. I never really thought 'bout my friends havin' secret identities as superheroes. It's actually kinda fun to think about. Like imagine if Goofy was... Hm... Oh! I got it! Supergoof 😆 ha ha ha. Oh, and Minnie can be... well... she can be... Okay, I don't know many female mice superheroes... But maybe she can change that. 😏

Me: I’m going to finally read all of “The Many Adventures of Duckburg’s Heroes”!

My brain, deciding to do basically anything besides that:

Louie was finally finished and he fell to the ground, finally able to laugh his but off like the rest of the room.

"That was so stupid," Dewey said, "and so damn epic at the same time!"

"Why, Louie," Huey tried to sound annoyed, "why???"

"Sorry, not sorry," Louie said, "I had to."

"It was e-pic!" Dewey said again.

"It's a pity I was so taken aback I forgot to film it," Gosalyn said, "best meme material right there!"

"No, no, no way am I becoming a meme!" Louie crossed his arms. Why did he have a feeling he was forgetting something.

"Louie, you just rick-rolled all of us," Lena said, "By definition, you are a walking meme!"

Newton's eyes shone with the idea and he clapped his hands, drawing BOYD's attention. "Do you have it?" he signed.

"Oh, yes, I can probably retrieve it from my memory file," BOYD said. Ah, yes, that's what Louie forgot.

"Traitor," Louie laughed, "But it was worth seeing all of your faces!"

"I can also retrieve a couple of utterly shocked expressions for meme-making purposes!" BOYD said and Louie gave him a look of bewildered respect that would make the young parrot blush. If robots could blush, that is. It was one real boy feature BOYD was glad he didn't have because he learned from observing people around him, it made you rather obvious.

"BOYD, you have no idea how amazed I am right now," Louie said. Yup, BOYD was very happy he couldn't blush! "I want those images, especially if they have those two palookas on them!" he pointed to Huey and Dewey.

"And now," Louie stretched his fingers, "The Evil Triplet will find his victim!" The bottle pointed to Della. Louie smirked.

"Mother,"

"Llewellyn," Della said, fully aware she was poking the beast.

"Do not call me that, I'm Rebel Duck, the Evil Triplet!"

"Not entirely sure how I feel about you using my name idea for your evil persona, but all right, Rebel Duck, as you even have to ask, oh evil son of mine, I'm picking dare!"

"You asked for this when you slighted me by using my old, full name," Louie said, "I dare you to...act out a scene from The Princess and The Frog, improvised costume and all. But instead of a frog, you use that fish Mrs Beakley brought from the market this morning!"

The room filled with a few outraged gasps.

"WHAT?" Della grouched, "You want to tell me I not only have to touch fish but I also have to kiss it?" sure, fish was nowhere as bad as black liquorice, but she still HATED it! She really did lay an egg from which an evil genius hatched.

"Wait a second!" Della exclaimed as she wrapped a blanket around her waist to act as a skirt, "Tiana wears gloves! Ha, I don't have to touch the fish with my bare hands after all!"

"You still have to kiss it, that sounds worse!" Natasha pointed out.

"Yeah, but I won't get the gross, disgusting smell of it all over my palms!"

Della hated the experience. Except for the part where she got to act out the Tiana slams the frog with a book part. That she enjoyed.

15 minutes later, after having thoroughly brushed her teeth and washed out her mouth with a monthly supply of mouthwash, Della got back to the circle.

"Hmm," Violet observed the screen "Seems like Drake's, Della's and Uncle Scrooge's dares filled the meter more than Natasha's or Beakley's. The worse dare, the more the meter fills, I'm assuming its' the same for truths," she said, as she looked over the room with a smile that was anything but reassuring.

"Oh, phooey!" half of the people in the circle said in unison, some burying their faces into their hands.

"Guys, let's not take things too far!" Fenton said nervously.

"Oh don't worry Fenton," Lena said, "we won't...I mean, at least not for now. It's Della's turn!"

"Oh yes, it's Della's turn," the pilot laughed as she spun the bottle, "and beware, as I may remind you who Rebel the Evil Triplet inherited his evilness from!"

The bottle pointed to Gyro.

"Well, my friend, choose carefully!" Della said as the chicken blanched, "Truth, or dare?"

“Okay, no need to panic. This is just another little problem for our family.” Huey frantically paced the foyer.

“Another little problem? We somehow unleashed a demon that forces people to play Truth or Dare, and will turn us to stone if we don’t tell the truth or don’t complete a dare!” Louie exclaimed. “Not to mention we have a quota that EACH of us has to fill.” The green triplet pointed to a magic TV that seemed to be displaying icons of everyone playing and the meter they needed to fill, which were currently empty.

“Considering everyone here has to play,” Louie gestured to everyone in the foyer, which included the McDuck-Duck clan, the Sabrewings, the Cabreras, Launchpad and the Mallards, the Mouses, and the Gearlooses, “we’re going to be stuck playing for ages!”

Dewey grinned at his brother. “I think it’s awesome. The world’s largest game of Truth or Dare? Count me in!”

“Me too!” Webby exclaimed. The other kids chimed in with some excitement. Launchpad joined in too, the only adult seemingly thrilled by the game.

“Aw phooey,” Donald mumbled, slapping his beak with his palm.

Della nudged him. “Cheer up, I’m sure you won’t get too insane dares.”

Scrooge stood tall, tapping his cane on the floor to call attention. “It’s either play this pointless party game, or we all get cursed to stone. Who’s going first?”

Never over the fact the only excuse Donald could came up with to justify his connection to Paperinik was "we're besties" and not only worked, but it became part of Duckburg's common knowledge:

"Why is Paperinik always getting involved on the old miser's business?(aka, helping him against foes)"

"Simple, he is besties with Donald"

"How did our local hero learned about this particular situation?"

"Surely Donald told him"

Don came up with probably the most ridiculous excuse ever and it worked perfectly, because to most Duckburgers, Donald would never be able to do all that or have a life as interesting by himself... BUT he is constantly surrounded by quirky, extraordinary people: his uncle is the richest duck in the world, he has come along with him to many adventures, his cousin is so lucky weather conditions change according to his comfort, and one of his closest friends' inventions had cause the city trouble even when his intentions were the best....not to mention his other cousin is constantly coming up with crazy projects who 99% involved him.

Added to all that, his familybis constantly the target of an obsessive witch...

So yeah, Donald being besties with a local superhero makes all the sense of the world

So is Henry, Maria's ex coming back because I what to see Abner kick is butt and tell him off.

I've thought about it... Mostly because, if Henry does, indeed, make the mistake of coming to Duckburg, it's going to go like this.

*Donald's phone rings before the sun is even up*

Donald, half-asleep and grabbing his phone, not even looking at the caller ID: Hello?

Maria, slightly hysterical and whispering: I think I killed someone.

Donald, more awake and looking at his phone now: Maria?

Maria, now more hysterical: I need you to get to the House of Mouse now because I just killed someone.

*Five minutes later, all three Heroes of Duckburg are descending upon the House of Mouse, along with Pilot, Storkules and Rosa, the last of whom is way too giddy without coffee at the prospect of hiding a body*

Rosa: Where is it?

*Maria, standing in a corner of the kitchen, holding a marble rolling pin, which she uses to point at a prone form on the floor*

Gizmoduck: What happened?

Maria: I came in early to start my prep work and he came up behind me and I was rolling dough, and...

Darkwing: Wait. You hit him. With a rolling pin?

Pilot: You killed a guy with a rolling pin?

Maria, very hysterical now: It's marble!

Storkules: Why doth you have a rolling pin made of marble?

Maria: It's good for working with pastry dough!

Rosa, nodding approvingly: And for whacking intruders.

Duck Avenger, crouched beside the body: You guys want the good news or the bad news for us?

Gizmoduck: Good. Always good news first.

Duck Avenger: He ain't dead.

Maria: Oh thank God.

Darkwing: And the bad news?

Duck Avenger: This guy's gonna wish Maria had killed him with a rolling pin when we're done with him.

Rosa: So... I still get to hide a body?

Duck Avenger: If there's any body left to hide, yeah, he's all yours.

Pilot: Who is it?

Duck Avenger: Maria's idiot of an ex-husband.

Long story short, Henry wanted to try to bully Maria into giving him money or something, and knew Maria worked at the House of Mouse and didn't want to run the risk of interacting with Gyro or Natasha or Abner at the Grotto. So Henry, in all his brilliance, thought that he should wait around the House of Mouse for Maria to come in early and talk to her alone there.

Huge mistake. Very painful mistake.

All Abner has to do after that is calmly inform Henry that he's been to prison before, and that he'd gladly walk right back in there if Henry doesn't stay the hell away from Maria and his kids, because prison is exactly where he's going to end up when he's done with Henry.

Cue Gyro and Natasha yelling that that isn't true, they know enough people and science so that Henry's body would never be found and no one will end up in prison. Abner simply smirks and tells Henry, "Well, I really don't have an excuse now." Henry books it out of there and is never seen or heard from again.

Like, he's still alive, but totally in disgrace, alone, and bitter.

Duck Comic Reading Club Week 13: Paperinik New Adventures: Fountains of the Moon

And we're here with another hit for this week issue.

We start things off with the discovery that Evronians has been on the planet, many centuries ago. The art of this city landscape is gorgeous. I won't get tired of saying how good PK art can be.

This is a Xadhoom comic, by the way, so, you know is going to be good. She needs help to track a possible survival ship, in exchange of her help against Evronians.

Come on!? You were best friends a couple weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Zargon gets new orders, he has to recover the spores. He didn't like his work apparently.

But, you know Zargon?

Your race have conquered planet after planet, but with you in charge, planet Earth is kicking you all in the ass. Be happy you're still employed.

The super computer and the genius scientific try to locate the spores nest, but they're outsmarted by the common man. PK found the nest in Africa.

I'm so happy the babies are in the farm now. Keep them away for the danger.

Xadhoom waste no time to fly to the location. On the other hand, PK has to take a commercial flight.

Ok, in the infinite garage, there's not a single vehicle he could take? Why the hell is PK flying commercial?

It is a 25-32 hour flight. In all that time, the Evronians are going to take all the spores. Terrible idea.

Well, at least Donald traveled business class.

He annoyed the hell out of his partner.

Donald arrived to Africa where he met Professor Bruceburton, an anthropology. Looks like she and Uno have been exchanging emails.

Lairduck. Is like Ducklair, but inverse. Very subtle, Uno.

The next three pages are… just look at them.

The color, the illumination, the emotion, the dialogue. I get some people might see PK and think, is just a weird Donald comic with a superhero gimmick.

But there's genuinely good things to find in those pages.

Anyway, we have an Evronians' invasion to stop. Our heroes got face-to-face with those nasty aliens, and of course, they beat the hell out of them.

Until...

PK was hit by the slave ray, and know he's just another Evronians' pawn.

But worry not, Xadhoom has the solution.

We have this saying, muerto el perro, muerta la rabia. Xadhoom took it literally.

By the way, we are in the middle of Africa, under the attack of an evil alien force. Of course the US army decides to attack.

She returned to the battle, and destroyed the Evronians.

Poor bastards, the made a living invading the Backyardigans or the Cubeez or Franklin the turtle. The first time they cross someone with the power to oppose them, and everything falls appart.

And now even the earthers are fighting. AND WINNING.

The Evronians run away, of course, but they leave Zargon behind. He now has a one-on-one duel with Xadhoom.

She's so cool.

The fight is not graphic at all, in fact, they only show key moments. But is done in such an amazing way.

Sometimes I sincerely criticize some decisions the comic takes, but not this time. They did great showing a vicious fight with no real violence. You know Zargon is dead.

And to end everything nice and sweet, PK is alive.

They're friends.

They both part ways, and is time to come back home.

Oh.

Looks like Zargon is not that dead yet.

Donald takes the flight back to Duckburg, and is reunited with his travel partner, who's turned out to be the army general, who's name is Abraham Lincoln.

He might want to avoid the theater.

This was a really good issue, is always a pleasure to have Xadhoom around. And it looks like the next one is going to be as good.

PK is on a roll.

Oh? There's a Angus story? To that I say, see you next week.

That’s really a hard one. There are some one-shots I’ve enjoyed, there’s some longer pieces I enjoyed, but naming one, I’m going to go with Back to the Present!, by @ninja-librarian. It’s a great wrap-up to their first arc of The Many Adventures of Duckburg’s Heroes! We get a lot of foreshadowing, interesting takes on what everyone’s doing in the future, alllllllll the ships, and, of course, future kids! I think one thing that’s set this one apart for me is simply the fact that it’s brought about so many asks by not just me, but other readers, about certain details in our characters’ future lives.

There’s definitely plenty of stuff I’ve read in 2022, but that personal touch definitely gives Back to the Present! some extra points.
