Crypt TV Update!!!

So I realized as I was returning to complete my overhaul of the Crypt TV Fandom wiki, I was NOT a good little Crypt junkie and I didn't give the latest update to this post! But there HAS been news on the Crypt TV front believe it or not.

TLDR: Crypt TV has been bought out by another media company that runs similarly to them. The new company seeks to revitalize Crypt's more recognizable monsters as well as create new original content for the CMU.

So as of January of this year, Crypt TV has been bought out by another web media company called Brat TV. Brat seems to do the same sort of thing that Crypt does, make media with the Gen Z demographic in mind -- except they're much more generalized with their stuff and don't focus on just one genre. They've got some good content on there, so I don't suggest blowing it off right away. Brat TV intends to expand into other genres to reach more viewers, and in buying Crypt TV is their way of expanding into the horror genre.

So what does this mean for Crypt fans? Well, Brat apparently plans on revitalizing some of Crypt's IP and getting their channels up and rolling again. Just to assuage peoples' fears, the deletion of the Crypt YouTube channel is extremely unlikely. The Brat execs plan to keep Eli Roth and other Crypt OGs on-staff, and they plan to revisit OG properties, specifically naming Sunny Family Cult and The Look-See.

It looks like the content launch is already beginning as well, because there's not only a new Facebook Meta series shot entirely in first-person VR, but we've had a brand-new Crypt video within the past week! It's a creepypasta video straight out of the creepypasta era starring The Mauler from Camp Monster and a brand-new monster, The Banshee! Since the creepypastas aren't exactly canon, I can't say for sure if The Banshee will be in any CMU stuff, but it's still a pleasant surprise after all these months of inactivity!

A/N: Here's some canon things about my technical AU! Look-See until I get Cursed Ring Pt. 2 up (I'm typing it up, I swear. I just got a new laptop and everything, lol.)

Very sassy.

Learned both ASL and BSL in his downtime just to have something to do, but soon discovered his telepathic abilities and fell out of practice. (Still fluent, just not as fast; yes, it’s a sore spot for him, so shush.)

Can absolutely recognize sarcasm (it’s technically a negative emotional response) but is oblivious to most romantic expression (namely flirting) unless you straight up tell him what you’re doing. As soon as he catches on, he will make you blush.

Learned English from his followers and other… “entities”

Does, in fact, know what the internet is and it’s the one thing on this Earth that terrifies him; he still won’t say what he saw to make this the case, but we can guess

Mans is 75% ‘Black Cat’, 20% ‘Ginger Cat’, and 5% ‘No Thoughts, Only Rage’

Knows how to sew but doesn’t feel like doing it most of the time. So he crotchets instead. Make it make sense.

Is a terrible cook. Please don’t let him near a stove.

He does make good smoothies, though, so I guess he’s got that going for him, lol

And finally, he will scare the shit out of you just for fun. It brings him joy.

I can’t do that; which is why I’m asking you to.#also: a bunch of tags are surprised this isn’t ‘shopped #it’s the lighting. backlit by the sun (which is diffused through the water) but also forelit artificially #the artificial light - a flash pack or something - casts a hard shadow under the creatures arm #which normally wouldn’t be possible if backlit by the SUN; you’d see a less-hard/more-fragmented shadow above water #as light sources ‘compete’ in a sense - and since there aren’t any light sources which can outshine the literal sun #it looks a bit weird when the darkest shadow is being cast from any other origin point - which is what’s essentially happening here #I don’t know the mechanics of how light travels through water; but I know the effect is substantial even with relatively short distances #also: it’s been balanced and color corrected by the author of the photo - who made deliberate choices to bring out the full potential #so it’s not like it’s a fresh and untouched export #but the kind of ‘tacked on’ appearance of the creature is a result of the lighting conditions within the image
