Re-reading Gideon the Ninth and

Harrowhark staying up all night digging and hiding away bones in a precise grid, then ripping off her gloves at the start of the duel to show off how fucked up her hands got from all the covert digging is literally a romantic gesture.

Did crux get the idea to blow up the shuttle from Gideon? She tells him to tell the others that's what happened to her at the beginning of her 87th escape attempt

My baby girl is literally so smart. Everyone makes fun of her for being dumb, but she's literally so smart. She clocks Pro as looking and moving off, like, immediately. She notices the skeleton constructs and how advanced they are by the first breakfast. She figures out what a salad is all on her own. I love her, your honor

also, her complaining about the Fourth being rude children is hilarious when you remember she is only, like, three years older then them.

2. experience hallucinations on a daily basis, have brain damage and are being deceived and misled by their peers, authority figures, themselves and God

one of the best gideon moments hands down is when, post battle with new lyctor ianthe, she finds out that dulcinea and palamedes are sort of exes and she LIES DOWN ON THE GROUND ABOUT IT AND GROANS FOR FIVE WHOLE MINUTES. everyone is like “gideon get up” “gideon it’s not a big deal” and she is like literally i’m going to end it all. this is so embarrassing for me and palamedes must hate me (cam has told her four times this is Not True) i must go make things right with him immediately. babygirl there’s a feral infant proto-god who just consumed the soul of her 1950s greaser chewtoy sprinting around canaan house you HAVE to change your priorities. and yet she won’t and she doesn’t. i love her so bad

the key to creating a story that drives people insane according to tamsyn muir is apparently to hide an array of chekhov's rifles in the closet of every sentence, wrap it up in two layers of pop culture references and the lamest puns you've heard, and putting crack cocaine in the pages. and it worked, that mfer did it.
