omg that's crazy!! I was never super into 1D either (I only knew whatever songs were on the radio/they did music videos for) but I grew up watching BTR so I love them!! They had some major bangers that still hit to this day. Honestly they were probably one of my first experiences in fandom lmfao

I totally feel you on the whole sentiment about music not being good anymore. I guess it's hard to come up with something original when there's so much out there but goddamn I'm also sick of hearing remixes/samples of songs that have come out years ago...,,. I feel like the golden era of music ended around 2016-2017 (peak was 2008-2012 though). That's why I've been abusing my throwback playlist since 2021 LMAO (they just don't do it like they used to anymore 😔)

At my previous job, I was also subjected to listening to the mainstream pop radio for the entire workday, and it only played the first like 20 songs of the Billboard Hot 100 so now I absolutely hate a select few songs from that time (e.g. Shivers - Ed Sheeran, That's What I Want - Lil Nas X, Boyfriend - Dove Cameron, Sunroof - Nick Youre, Cold Heart - Elton John/Dua Lipa, As It Was - Harry Styles, Glamorous remix that Jack Harlow did ugh that one was the worst 🤮, Numb Little Bug - Em Beihoid [this one is sad because the lyrics are good and relatable and it's catchy but I'd hear this play probably like 16x in the span of 2 hours], etc). I simply cannot listen to any of these songs anymore because they were associated with such a horrible time in my life and it was like the same 15 songs on loop for 40 hours a week I literally went insane (it is over though and I'm in a better place now thank fuck lmaoooo). So I totally understand your frustration with music of the current day and the fact that it will just repeat on the radio forever and ever. The only silver lining was that my own curated playlists sounded so much better in comparison when I was finally able to take lunch and thus, take a break from the radio as well. I can only hope the same for you :")

Aww hiii!! <3 Not gonna lie, it's not something I ever really thought about so I had to look all the songs up and listen to them again LMAO. Funny enough, I'm not super into the music style of anime themes because my ears grew up being trained on American pop music, and the melodies/general flow of a lot of anime soundtracks don't quite match the ones I like/I'm used to hearing. When I watch an anime, I'll listen any new opening/ending song once and if I don't like it, I just skip over it whenever it comes on (happens more often than not) 🙂‍↔���

It's quite rare that I enjoy >80% of an anime theme and I'm actually really picky about the ones I save into my library. Thus, I don't have that many (my weeb playlist is only 2 hours long! I know a lot of people who have at least 10 hours of anime shit in their playlists lol). A lot of the songs in my playlist are actually not openings or endings, but random soundtracks within the shows (e.g. character themes like in Demon Slayer, or MHA has a lot of random repeated songs for different kinds of scenes. And how could I forget AOT [Hiroyuki Sawano the goat]). Yeah so no OP/EDs in my library normally (for MHA at least), BUT sometimes I'll add some of the instrumentals of the songs, (i.e. no voices) because I felt like the singing ruined a good composition lmao jjk S2 OP 1 and S2 ED 2 idk I think I'm in the minority when I say that for music, sound is more important to me than lyrics

OPENINGS

Merry-Go-Round (S5 OP 2): the only opening I have saved in my library. I mostly try to ignore the cringe English but I enjoy this song the most out of all the other ones (I have a few other Man With A Mission songs as well)! The part in the actual theme in the show where All Might's bright aura fades into Endeavor's dark one is such a chilling contrast ugh.,.,,. I ate that shit up

Star Marker (S4 OP 2): I didn't save this one but it's so happy I love!! And the focus on my fav girl Jiro <3 you can't listen to this song and not be in a good mood tbh

Polaris (S4 OP 1): not saved, but I would actually watch through this theme sometimes (not skip!) when watching S4. I like most of it except the end though oops

Odd Future (S3 OP 1): also not saved, but I don't dislike it and I could see myself listening to it without actively wanting the song to be over lmao. somehow the autotune works

Curtain Call (S7 OP 2): the most recent one. not good enough to be saved in my library but I don't hate it like I hated most of S6's and the first part of S7's OP/EDs lmao

ENDINGS

Dakara, Hitori ja Nai (S2 ED 1): I think the translation of this is something like "you're not alone" or something, which 🥺. Anyway, the most sonically pleasing song in the entire MHA production okay I don't make the rules. The harmonies are beautiful!! And the fact that this ending was focused on the girlie pops I was like yes yes yessss queens all around slayyyy

Rokutousei (S7 ED 2): translation - "6" something..,., the most recent one!! I was so surprised when I first listened, I was suspicious of how much I was liking it and I was low key waiting for a part of the song where the melody doesn't go the way I expect and I end up hating it (S5 ED 2) but it never happened. I never skip this one when watching the show. It's a beautiful song in the way that it's like slightly melancholic but also hopeful at the same time? Even without understanding the lyrics those are the vibes I get when I listen (and see the visuals, maybe that's where I'm getting this from lmao). It honestly puts me on the verge of tears sometimes. Especially the ending where they showed Shoto/Toya!! instead of the normal Deku/Shigaraki. Anyway I have the full song saved in my library and it was even on repeat a couple weeks ago! Ochaco on the album cover is so cute

Shout Baby (S4 ED 2): also super happy and catchy and bright. And everyone's bb pics!! 🥺 I would almost never skip this theme.

Uso ja Nai (S5 ED 2): translation - "not a lie"? honorable mention cause I enjoyed the first 30ish secs of the song with the piano before it falls off (basically just the first verse) and I love bb hawks

Sketch (S6 ED 1): again, also not saved, but I don't dislike it and I could see myself listening to it without actively wanting the song to be over lmao

Somewhat unrelated but in doing some of my research for this ask, I found out that Sayuri, the singer who did the ending of S4 (the one that was focused on Eri), passed away last month at 28 years old :( rip. Her song was the only one from S4 that didn't make it on this list cause I didn't love it, but she was so young. at least her legacy lives on through her music.

65. Michael Schulte - “You let me walk alone” Germany 2018

When Germany revealed this homely carrot top  as their entrant I of course IMMEDIATELY rolled my eyes at it. Discount Ed Sheeran, GTFO!! Idk what the general lowdown on Ed Sheeran is, but good lord that man is responsible for some really BORING and GENERIC music (I will never get the obsession with “Perfect”, ever.) and as you can expect that also bled into my initial opinon of Michael.

However, two things. A of all, “You let me walk alone” is a much better song because it is actually VERY catchy, in a good way. ONE love / TWO hearts /  THREE kids / LOVING mum is among the more memorable hooks in this decade. 

Secondly, Michael’s emotion is *real*. This is a song about his coping with his dead father and well... I am not made from stone. Dude was in GENUINE TEARS during the endgame!! And as someone who deeply loves his father, I can definitely empathize with that message on a personal level.

There are better songs around. There are better performers around. There is better emotional pull left in this ranking. Regardless, Michael was able to stun me into teary-eyed silence and that is a feat which earns nothing less than RESPECT.

More rock angels. 😍 However, Litesound rank on the other end of the quality spectrum, being great because of their incompetence.  

Honestly, I don’t think there’s anything more endearing when the inept give it their all, completely oblivious to their amateurism, a description which -let’s be honest- is “Belarus in Eurovision” is in a nutshell 😍. Well that plus the hilariously rigged NF, remember that ALYONA LANSKAYA originally won Litesound’s NF and then had to bequeath her spot to them when her voting fraud was exposed. 😍 It’s not even the most hilariously rigged NF of the decade though, omg YES we shall discuss that whenever it’s “Samo shampioni’s” turn. 😈

Anyway, Litesound bring the a double whammy of hilarity with some A+ Bad English diction (let us all sing along)

62. Justs - “Heartbeat” Latvia 2016

AGE OF AMINATA <3 what a glorious two-piece act in the herstory of Latvia. To Latvia’s credit they completely reinvented themselves in the Supernova Era, usually resulting in bold entries (and Carousel). 

If "Love injected” was the earthquake that shook Latvia AWAKE with her experimental masterpieces, then "Heartbeat” is the aftershock, providing the same avant garde novelty, but not as impactful with a lesser impact. 

However, to recycle a phrase i’ve already used multiple times, a lesser Aminata is still fucking awesome. “Heartbeat” packs a massive emotional punch, being more aggressive and volatile than its predecessor, which... works out fine actually. Killer lines such as:

YOU’RE MY DESIRE AND MY PAIN BUT ALL THE BATTLES ARE IN VAIN YOU MEAN MORE THAN ANYTHING TO  MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

need an emotionally intense delivery and Justs fucking GOES for it without any inhibitions for his own health and safety 

and with every passing second

he gets more into the zone

right until the end, when he LOSES his voice and is reduced to panting an aspirated ”thank you”. 😍 If you’re going to sing about lost love, you’d better do it by also SCREAMING YOUR LUNGS OUT <3

61. Hatari - “Hatrið mun sigra” Iceland 2019

God I’ve been dreading this write-up. Not because of the Hatari stans (lol who is going to complain about getting ranked 61st out of 408), but can I do Hatari justice in print? Hatari weren’t as much as an entry as they were the fiery spirit of mischief, an existential manifestation of defiance, a gestalt of provocative resistance, all contained in the tiny package of two asshole hellraisers.  Yes, assholes.  You see, the one thing you NEED to understand before everything else is that Hatari’s poetic palestine shawl moment is one of grade A assholery. Pulling that at the last sec towards their hosts WAS a dick move and Hatari were fully aware of it. We MUST see this as a fact before we discuss anything else that is also Hatari-related.

However, that’s precisely the point? Provocation was the sensation that swept the icelandic nation and its idolization became Hatari’s vocation with dedication and its application in the humiliation and the vexation of the Israeli station in support of the Palestine civilization, leaving KAN in devastation after months of the rabid disorganization was a justification well worth the potential probation. In other words: GET REKT KAN SHIT HOSTS HOPE U GET BLACKLISTED LOLOL #Hatredwon 😈 😈. 

ps: still getting the Israelis to cheer for them despite being OPENLY pro-palestine when will ur faves.

~My reasons~ for ranking Hatari lower post-show are less grounded in the politics (again, they were jerks but... that’s also the entire point of sending Hatari lmfao) and more determined by the actual live performance: I thought Klemens was underwhelming and his parts of “Hatrið mun sigra” were also the fave bits. 😭 On the flipside I thought Matthias was excellent (when he didn’t miss his cue) and I legit laugh out loud each time I see his hilarious OTT facial expressions.

What a justified use of guyliner <3 The act was yet again a diabolically brilliant clanging of chains, bashing of mallets, grinding of gears, steaming of punk, a satanic cirque du soleil come to rain justice and brimstone down on our hopeless souls. Hatari were the anti-heroes we needed and don’t deserve.

Iceland’s chart looks much better than I thought it would, but the averages actually put them somewhere in the middle on average. Iceland are always hit-or-miss for me, much moreso in the 2010s than in any other decade and it’s largely down to them failing to pick the best available option because, you know, BadTastitis.

When Harry received the save the date for his cousins wedding, he knew he was in deep shit. In a moment of naivety (and maybe a little bit of intoxication) he had told his entire family he had met “the one” and they could bet their ass she’d be at the next family event. To be fair - his tinder date from the previous night seemed nice enough until she admitted she was actually awaiting a court trial for god knows what. And because of that drunken comment, he was now forced to stand next to you as his cousin walked down the aisle to an Ed Sheeran song. You looked at his mother across the room, who sent you a questioning glare before glancing down at your hand that was no where near Harry’s. Needless to say, you quickly scooped his hand up.

“You know your mum’s probably trying to plan our wedding right now,” Harry whispered into your ear, catching eye of her gaze.

The reception was in full swing around you. Nearly everyone who wasn’t driving was plastered, bar you and Harry of course. You had to keep up the act and lord all know what happened last time he got drunk, that was the whole reason you were in this position in the first place. 

He just shrugged, knowing anything he would say wouldn’t be remember in the morning - by your mother at least. 

“Yea she’s right,” Sam said, cutting of Elysia and staring at the ceiling, clearly trying to figure out when it all happened. “You two weren’t dating when you flew to Venice, right?” 

You and Harry immediately sent Sam a death glare, hoping he would at least figure to shut his mouth. After all he couldn’t give less of a fuck if you two were dating or not and would probably be one of the first to figure out the bit if the three of you were alone for too long. 

“Ohhh, yea no never mind,” Sam blushed, turning back to Elysia. 

“When did you two start dating?” Nikki asked, furrowing her brows. 

“Uh actually sorry Nikki but the Photo Booth is free! Gotta take that chance while we can!” you smiled apologetically before grabbing your ‘boyfriends’ hand and racing off to the small booth. 

You dragged Harry along behind you, stumbling in your stilettos. You pushed him in, climbing in after him and suddenly realising how small it was. 

“Hi,” you laughed as you realised your chin was pressed against his chest. 

“Hi,” he grinned back, “Should we sit?” 

You nodded, waiting for him to sit before taking a place on his lap. 

“So we better get some cute photos to prove we’re together right?” you said, busying yourself with preparing the booth and trying to ignore how close the two of you were, how delicious he looked in that moment and how good he smelt. 

You looked at him, tie slightly undone and top button released, hair pushed back, but mainly his eyes. His eyes that looked up at you with nothing but love. Sure your hair looked nice and your makeup was done, but he would stare at you the same way on a Sunday afternoon in your pyjamas. The booth began to flash, counting down from 3. 

“Okay kiss my cheek.” you instructed Harry, causing him to laugh before following orders. 

You grinned cheesily into the camera, waiting for the flash before quickly rearranging your bodies to the next position. You noted again how close the two of you were, his spread legs were touching each side of the booth as you sat between them. 

“Monkey faces?” Harry suggested, knowing you only had 3 short seconds before the flash would go off again. 

You nodded, looking at him, puffing your cheeks out and grabbing your ears. The flash went off and you plastered a large smile on your face, prepping for the next one already.

“You know when I told them all I had found the one I was talking about you, I told Sam that night I was going to ask you to be my girlfriend.” 

Your mouth dropped in shock, half wanting to continue with the cute photos, half knowing you couldn’t leave him hanging after a confession like that.  

“And you tell me now?!” you hit his chest, the flash going off. 

“Sorry?” he grinned, your noses pressed together.

“Shut up. We only have 3 seconds. Kiss me already you idiot boyfriend.” 

And with that, Harry kissed you. The flash went off, capturing that special moment. 

“So what now? Do we fuck in the booth?” 

You rolled your eyes, “Buy me dinner first, cheap ass.”

I'm still not taking request (Any request I post doesn't mean I am open. Which I do have some left in my ask box.). I am however planning on making some Aesthetics/moodboards. You know how I usually have a list of like 100+? Well this list is MUCH shorter lmfao. It's to get my creativity up again, that drabble game I had gave me back so much motivation, you don't understand.

Now these moodboards I'm doing are not for the fandoms I usual post stuff for. In fact actually I've never EVER posted anything for these fandoms before. The moodboards/ Aesthetics I make I will wait until I've completed ALL OF THEM for BOTH fandoms before I post ANY of it. Which is how I've always and will continue to work when it comes to moodboards/Aesthetics. The only exception to this rule are getting Request for a moodboard/Aesthetic. Haha I bet you're wondering what the fandoms are?

Well one of them is a fandom I've been in for a long time and anyone who considers me friends will know I am in this fandom. Sheerio! Yup that's right the name that Ed Sheeran fans are called! I'm going to be doing moodboards/Aesthetics for Ed Sheeran's songs!

The second fandom I've quite literally just entered but what better way to solidfy myself other then doing some song Aesthetics for a couple of albums this group has put out? I'm talking about the Kpop group Stray Kids! Yes that's right I'm going to be doing moodboards/request based off of Stray Kids songs.

I really hope I do really good! Hmm maybe as good as my Miraculous Aesthetics/moodboards have come out? Or even maybe more notes then my LGBTQ flag moodboards? Ha okay that's a joke but seriously though I really hope I do as good as I know I can!! Hopefully I don't do either Ed Sheeran's songs or Stray Kids bad!

I really do put a lot of time and effort into my moodboards to make them fit whatever theme I'm going for! Sometimes I even have to edit some photos or add some words to a pic or something but I always do what I can to get it just right so have faith in me and I'll do my best not to fail!
