chapter 1: the moment i met you, i thought i‘ll jump of a cliff. 

I always told myself that I would get married in a castle with my prince charming or that my first kiss would be from a superhero. But those were just the thoughts of a little girl who dreamed of things far beyond her reach.

I used to think love was easy—easy to find, easy to feel, easy to hold onto. But when I hit my teenage years, my perspective twisted.

Books never mentioned that boys could be complete douchebags. They never warned me that dating apps existed, where you could swipe left or right like people were disposable. They never said that love wasn’t always like the movies.

I had gone on a few dates, had a few relationships, but they never went anywhere—at least, nowhere good. And yet, I remained hopeful, because I loved love.

I loved the idea that somewhere out there, someone was waiting—just for me.

And looking back, I should have known that Peter Parker would be the bane of my existence. Or, as some might call it, fate. Maybe even the one who waited.

But at fifteen, you don’t always see the obvious.

Before I truly met Peter, I was an intern at Oscorp Industries—a big deal for a high school sophomore. Even now, I still don’t know how I landed the opportunity, but maybe it was meant to happen. Science was my life. While other kids my age were busy worrying about prom dates and football games, I was spending my weekends analyzing DNA sequences and studying biochemical reactions.

My goal was to work at Oscorp full-time one day—maybe even lead my own research project. I was serious about it. Maybe too serious sometimes.

Which is why I hated field trip days.

That afternoon, a group of students from Midtown High was scheduled to visit, meaning my workspace would be invaded by a bunch of students who probably didn’t care about what we were doing here. Most of them were probably just here for extra credit or to get out of a test, and I had little patience for any of it.

I had been assigned to help lead the tour alongside Dr. Connors—answering questions and making sure no one touched anything they weren’t supposed to. It wasn’t exciting, but it was better than sitting in a classroom. That was until I heard a name that made me inwardly groan.

Peter Parker.

I didn’t go to Midtown, but I knew that name. Everyone in the science circuit did.

And not just because he was a so-called genius, but because my neighbor, Liz Allan, once had a thing with him. I had heard all about how he broke her heart—some drama about prom night, though I never asked for details.

He was the kind of person people couldn’t stop talking about—a prodigy, a teenage genius, someone whose mind was years beyond his age. My age. He won every science fair, had published academic papers, and was practically the golden boy of Midtown High’s academic program.

But, apparently, he was also a heartbreaker.

I never had a problem with intelligence. And I wasn’t jealous. But what I had heard—what I was about to experience firsthand—was that Peter Parker knew he was smart. And worse, he thought he was the smartest person in any room.

The moment he stepped into the lab, I braced myself.

“Okay, okay, this is cool,” Peter said, glancing around wide-eyed. His friend, Ned Leeds—a slightly nervous-looking guy in a hoodie—nudged him.

“I thought you already knew everything, dude.”

Peter grinned. “I mean, I do, but I like to be impressed sometimes.”

I rolled my eyes but didn’t say anything.

It was true what everyone said about him. But they never mentioned how weirdly attractive he was—for a nerd.

Peter wasn’t scrawny; he was tall and built. His chestnut-colored eyes were bright, and his curly, chocolate-brown hair shone under the cold fluorescent lights. He wasn’t ugly, that was for sure. But his personality? That was far from the perfect description of every nerd, girls swooned over in books and movies.

Dr. Connors began the tour, explaining some of the research we were doing, and I did my part, demonstrating some of the simpler experiments we used for controlled studies. It was going fine—until Peter opened his mouth.

“You know,” he said, tilting his head as he watched me set up a reaction, “this would work a lot faster if you adjusted the temperature by a couple of degrees.”

I glanced at him. “Really?”

“Yeah. You’re working with an enzyme reaction, right? The activation energy threshold is too low. If you increase the heat just slightly, you’ll see the reaction speed up without denaturing the protein.”

I narrowed my eyes. “I know how enzymes work.”

Peter shrugged. “Just saying. You don’t have to do it the slow way.”

I forced a smile, keeping my voice even. “This is a controlled experiment. We’re demonstrating fundamental principles, not trying to rush a result.”

Ned elbowed him. “Dude, let her do her job.”

Peter held up his hands, grinning. “Hey, I’m just trying to help.”

I could feel my face heating up—not with embarrassment, but with frustration. I knew my position, knew I could do anything, including kicking him out of the lab. And after all these years, I still wonder—what if I had?

Dr. Connors cleared his throat. “Parker, if you’d like to conduct your own experiments, I’m sure Oscorp will be happy to accept your internship application next year.”

Peter’s smirk faltered. “Uh, right. Sorry.”

He straightened up, slipping his hands into his jeans pockets, but I could feel his presence still lingering. As if he wanted to get under my skin.

I turned back to my work, determined to ignore him. But, of course, he wasn’t done.

“So,” Peter said after a few minutes, “what school do you go to?”

“Not Midtown,” I replied flatly.

He raised an eyebrow. “Yeah, I got that. You don’t exactly seem thrilled to see us.”

“I’m thrilled to be working,” I said. “Not babysitting.”

Ned let out a low whistle. “Oof. Burn.”

Peter, to my surprise, laughed. “Okay, okay, I deserved that. But seriously, where do you go?”

“Standard High.”

“Oh.”

“Yep.”

Peter crossed his arms. “Fancy.”

Funny story—Standard High and Midtown High were kind of rivals in the Academic Decathlon competition. I used to be on the team, but I left when I got my internship at Oscorp.

For a second, I thought he might actually drop it. But then—

“So, do you even like it here?” he asked, motioning around the lab.

I stared at him. “What kind of question is that?”

“I mean, you’re obviously smart. But do you actually like doing this stuff, or are you just trying to impress your teachers?”

I clenched my jaw. “I don’t have to impress anyone. Unlike you.”

Ned sucked in a breath. “Oh, man, she’s got you figured out.”

Peter narrowed his eyes, but instead of looking offended, he looked… amused. Like he had just found a new puzzle to solve. I hated that look. I barely knew him, only his name and stupid face already.

“Well,” he said after a moment, “this was fun.” His chestnut-brown eyes were still locked on mine, a soft, amused glint in them. His gaze flickered to my name tag, and for a moment, I could have sworn he remembered my name, forever.

“For you, maybe,” I muttered.

As the tour wrapped up, I thought that would be the last time I saw Peter Parker. He was just some obnoxious kid from another school, someone I’d never have to deal with again.

But as he walked out of the lab, he glanced back at me, grinning. “See you around, intern.”

I didn’t know it then, but he was right.

I would see Peter Parker around.

More than I ever wanted to.

"Sorry, haven't seen them since the last time I saw them." I said with a smile before taking a drink on my hot chocolate and looking down at my phone when I saw Steve got another word.

"And when was that?"Umbrigde asked confused.

"When was what?"I asked with mock confusion as I looked up at her.

"The last time you saw them of course."Umbrige said becoming slightly irritated.

"Saw who?" I asked innocently.

"Fred and George Weasley."Umbrige said firmly an I pretended to think about it for a moment. Like I didn't see them walk past me with Ron and Draco five minutes ago, carrying empty glitter containers and prank kits.

"Can't say those names ring any bells I'm afraid. However if you're looking for the Weasley twins they went that way." I mumbled looking down at my phone.

"Which way? Left or right?"Umbrigde asked frantically looking around.

"I don't know, that's what I'm asking you. Right or wrong? Up or down, you know? Do you think I'll grow more, I've recently become very insecure about my height. I feel like I'm not tall enough? But what if I'm too tall? I'm 5'9 but that could mean anything. Did you know brown cows don't make chocolate milk? Do you think the sky knows it's blue? Why do people have limbs? I'll tell you why, because of evaluation! Not to be confused with revolutions because those are bad. Speaking of revolutions, have you ever owned a unicorn? I've been thinking of starting a butterfly farm but I can't because I won't have time to take them for walks everyday. Do you think cats know that they're cat-" I asked rambling various nonsense questions with a look of concern painted on my face.

"That's enough! I'll find them myself!" Umbrigde yelled cutting me off.

You were nervous as you got into the car, waiting for Tom. Today was the day. You were meeting his family for the first time. Of course, you had met them before at premieres and events, but you only had a little conversation before you had to go do some interviews. Besides that was before you were dating. Tom got in the driver's seat. "Nervous?", he asked, taking your hand. "Yes.", you replied,"Very" "Don't worry. They will love you. Anyways you had already met Harry" "And? What about everyone else? ", you asked. "Hey, look at me.", he softly instructed. You did what he wanted. "They will love you and even if they don't, it won't change how much I love you! Ok?" "Ok.", you answered,"I love you" "Love you too"

After about half an hours drive, you finally pulled up on the drive. You felt like throwing up, a hundred different scenarios running through your head as you got out of the car. "You ready?", Tom asked. "Yeah", you answered, even though you felt the exact opposite. He took your hand and kissed your forehead before ringing the bell.

Nikki answered the door. "Hi. It's so nice to meet you. Tom has told me so much about you.", she said. "Thank you. It's so nice to meet you too.", you replied. "Come in. Can I just say, you look stunning.", she said as she lead you into the hall. You blushed at the compliment. "It good to see you again too mum.", Tom said jokingly. You both laughed at this. "Hi, sweetheart", she said as she pulled him in for a hug. Suddenly Dom appeared. "Hi Y/N, it's nice to see you in person for once" You laughed at this. "I could say the same", you replied. "Where are the boys?", Tom asked, wondering why they didn't come running to introduce themselves. "They are out playing golf. They weren't supposed to be this late, but they should be here soon.", Dom answered. "What! Golfing without me!", Tom said, acting annoyed. You laughed at this. "Anyways come into the living room", Nikki said,"Y/N would you like some tea?" "Yes, please", you answered as entered the pretty room.

Tom and you sat down on one sofa, Dom on the other. You started some small talk and Nikki brought in the tea. Suddenly a lot of noise was heard, coming from the hall. "Boys, leave your clubs outside", Dom shouted as he got up to make sure they have done that. They came in one by one. "Hey, boys!", Tom said,"this is Y/N" "It's nice to see you again.", Harry said,"This is Sam" "Hi!" "And I'm Paddy", Paddy added, eager to get a word in. "And you already know Harrison", Tom said. "It's nice to meet you all. How was golf?", you replied. "Yeah. Who won?", Tom wanted to know. "I did.", said Harrison.

"Lunch!", Nikki suddenly called from the kitchen. Tom took your hand and lead you into the dining room. Over lunch, you told them lots about yourself and they told you lots in return. You laughed a lot and they made you feel at ease.

When everyone was finished, you offered to help wash dishes but Nikki refused. So instead you, Tom, Harry, Sam and Paddy played the game of life. It took a really long time, because everyone had so much fun messing around, but no one cared. You were entertained every minute, they loved you just as Tom said and it made him proud, that you got along with your his family so well.

You stayed the whole day, before Tom finally said: "Well, I think we better go." "Yes. It was so nice to see you all", you added, seeing how he wanted to go. You and Tom stood up, giving hugs and saying goodbyes. That took a while, but you finally left with about half of the leftovers from lunch.

"See I told you.", Tom said when you were in the car. "I guess, you were right. Your family are really nice.", you replied. "Yes, and they loved you.", he added as he started the car. "Hmm", you said before taking his free hand. After about ten minutes, you fell asleep. Tom smiled. "God, I love you.", he said softly and gave you a kiss on your forehead.

I hope you like it! 💕I know I said I wanted to post Stole my heart Part 3 today, but I couldn't find the time to. It is summer holidays in Germany at the moment, so it's a bit harder to plan out the time. 🧡🧡🧡 I will try to get my shit together soon.

You weren’t even planning on going live, but boredom struck, and here you were—sitting in front of your vanity, phone propped up, chatting with thousands of people while doing your skincare routine.

“Okay, so this is the toner I’ve been obsessed with lately,” you said, holding up a pretty glass bottle. “It’s so hydrating, and my skin has been drinking it up like—” You paused as you tapped the product into your face, glancing at the flood of comments.

“Queen is blessing us with a random live? We won today.”

“Not me ignoring my assignments for this.”

“The skincare routine, finally!”

You giggled. “I love how invested you guys are in my skincare. Should I do this more often?”

The chat exploded with “YES!!” and variations of “Absolutely,” making you laugh as you moved on to serum.

You were mid-way through explaining how this particular product made your skin look “glowy but not greasy” when the bedroom door creaked open. Tom walked in, fresh out of a shower, towel slung around his neck, wearing sweatpants and a loose t-shirt, looking all soft and cuddly. His curls were damp and tousled in that unfairly attractive way.

A soft smile formed on your lips as you caught his reflection in the vanity mirror. “Hey, love.”

Tom came up behind you, wrapping his arms around your shoulders and leaning down to press a kiss against your temple. “Hey, darling,” he murmured, voice raspy from sleep.

You saw the chat go wild.

“OMGGGG TOMMMM”

“PLS HE’S SO CLINGY”

“This man is in love, your honor.”

Completely unaware of the audience watching, Tom pressed another kiss to your cheek, then your jaw, moving closer to your neck. “Missed you,” he murmured.

You snorted. “Tom, you were literally in the other room.”

“I know, but I still missed you,” he whined dramatically, swaying you side to side.

The chat was eating it up.

“Tom is the clingiest bf ever confirmed.”

“He’s such a golden retriever lmao.”

Tom finally glanced up at your phone. “Are you recording a video?” He asked, tilting his head.

You opened your mouth to answer, but before you could, Tom’s hand slid up and—without hesitation—he gave your boob a playful squeeze.

You let out the most unholy yelp known to mankind.

“What?” He grinned.

His eyes went wide like a deer caught in headlights, and then—without a word—he bolted. Full on, Olympic sprinter, ran out of the camera frame.

The chat absolutely lost it.

“OH MY GOD DID THAT JUST HAPPEN?!”

“TOM. THOMAS. THOMAS STANLEY HOLLAND. YOU DID NOT.”

“I CAN’T BREATHE LMFAOOOO”

Your jaw was still on the floor as you turned to the camera, completely flustered. “I—” You put your hands over your face, groaning. “That did not just happen.”

Tom was yelling from somewhere off-camera. “WHY DIDN’T YOU WARN ME FIRST?!”

“I DIDN’T KNOW YOU’RE GONNA DO THAT!!”

Your phone kept buzzing with comments, and then the real chaos began.

Harry: “I was so invested in the skincare routine. You had to ruin it, you idiot!”

Sam: “We did NOT need to see that, Tom 😐”

Paddy: “Does someone have holy water?”

Harrison: “Keep the freakiness for the bedroom, mate.”

Tuweine: “Did NOT expected that, T.”

Zendaya: “There are CHILDREN present HERE!”

Nikki: “Thomas Stanley Holland, you better behave!”

Your jaw dropped at that last comment. “Oh my god—your mum is in the chat.”

You heard a muffled scream from the hallway. “NOOOOO.”

Laughter bubbled out of you as the chat continued to go crazy.

“Y/n, go check if Tom is still breathing.”

“The way he ran out, I’m crying.”

“Nikki Holland coming in with the FINAL BLOW.”

Still reeling from what had just happened, you barely registered the nonstop buzz of notifications. The comments were relentless.

“Y/n, drag him back on camera. We need a public apology.”

“TOM GET BACK HERE.”

“He’s literally in his ‘cringe I wanna disappear’ era.”

You snorted, calling out over your shoulder, “Tom, they want a statement from you, Mr. Holland.”

From the hallway, you heard a muffled groan. “Tell them I’m dead.”

Rolling your eyes, you turned the phone slightly toward the open door. “Guys, he’s being dramatic.”

There was another flood of messages.

“Drag his ass back.”

“We demand accountability.”

“Not him hiding like a guilty puppy.”

Taking pity on your boyfriend, you got up and walked out of frame, finding Tom leaning against the wall, face buried in his hands.

You poked his arm. “Tommy?”

“I can never show my face on the internet again,” he mumbled.

You giggled. “Aw, c’mon, it’s not that bad.”

Tom peeked at you through his fingers. “Babe, I grabbed your boob. On live. While thousands of people were watching.”

You bit your lip to stop from laughing. “Yeah… yeah, you did.”

Tom groaned, dropping to the floor. “This is worse than that time I accidentally liked a thirst tweet about myself.”

“Oh, way worse.” You grinned, leaning against the wall next to him. “But at least you’ve given the internet something to talk about for the next decade.”

He whined, tugging at your hoodie, burying his face into your stomach. “I hate it here.”

You ran your fingers through his curls soothingly. “You’re fine, baby. I think they loved it. But you still owe an apology.”

“Tell them I’m deceased,” he mumbled dramatically, voice muffled against your hoodie.

You rolled your eyes before gripping his shoulders. “Nope. Get up, babe. You’re not getting out of this one.”

He whined. Whined. Like a toddler being told to share his toys. “Y/n, please.”

But you had no mercy. You grabbed his wrist, tugging him up onto his feet.

“Nooo—don’t make me go back there,” he whined as you dragged him toward the vanity, his feet literally dragging against the floor.

The chat absolutely lost it.

“NOT HER DRAGGING HIM LIKE A CHILD 😭”

“This is the funniest thing I’ve ever witnessed.”

“Tom, buddy, you did this to yourself.”

With one final tug, you plopped him back in front of the phone. Tom dramatically flopped onto the chair, throwing his head back like he was in physical pain.

Then, with the biggest sigh in the world, he stared at the camera, and said in the most deadpan voice: “I would like to formally apologize for what just happened. I am a disgrace. A fool. An absolute idiot. Please respect my privacy during this difficult time.”

You burst out laughing, and the chat exploded.

“HIS FACE LMAOOO”

“We forgive you, but only because this was HILARIOUS.”

“You’re a menace, Tom.”

“HIS FACE I’M WHEEZING”

“THE DRAMATICS.”

“You are NOT escaping this, Thomas Stanley.”

Shaking your head, you wiped away a tear of laughter. “Oh my god, you are so dramatic.”

Tom glanced at the chat, saw Nikki’s comment again, and groaned. “I am so getting a call from Mum later.”

You patted his cheek. “That’s a future Tom problem.”

He pouted. “Can I at least get a kiss to make me feel better?”

Rolling your eyes, you leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to his lips.

The chat went crazy.

“HE’S SO ADORABLE 😭”

“Not him sneaking a kiss mid-apology.”

“The way they’re so in love I’m sick.”

Tom smiled against your lips. “See? They forgive me.”

You shook your head, turning back to the camera. “Okay, I think that’s enough chaos for one night. Love you guys, but I’m ending this before Tom does something else embarrassing.”

“Hey—”

You ignored him and waved. “Bye, everyone!”

As soon as the screen went dark, you turned to Tom with a smirk. “So… still feeling like an idiot?”

He sighed, wrapping his arms around you again. “Yes. But at least now I have you to comfort me.”

You laughed, resting your forehead against his. “You’re ridiculous.”

“And you love me for it.”

Yeah. Yeah, you really did.
