Dear Tadashi, Chapter One
Page one
March 8th
Dear Tadashi
Hey, it’s been a while, huh? Baymax said I have to vent in this journal like I’m talking to you. I feel stupid, this is dumb. I mean, who writes on paper these days, right? I bet I look really pathetic right now. I guess I should start somewhere, huh? Well, today I tried to talk to the others about Karmi and her “fanfiction”. They said I should be grateful that she likes me, and that she put a lot of work into it so I shouldn’t ruin this for her. I feel like they don’t appreciate me, that they only want me as a prop for their own stories. It’s getting late. I’m tired. Goodnight.
March 9th
Sorry for the abrupt goodbye, I couldn’t keep thinking about it. I say as if there’s actually anybody to apologize to. I regret joining SFIT. It’s brought nothing but pain to me. First you died, then Karmi, and now everyone. Even Baymax is saying I should put up with it! Okay, maybe he didn’t say that specifically, but somewhat. I dunno, I’m tired. I should get up or I’m gonna be late for school. Bye, I guess.
Hey. I’m on lunch break, so I can talk for a bit. I guess I never really told you who Karmi is, did I? It all started a few months ago. Professor Granville -she’s the new dean of the school- called me over the weekend, said she wanted me to meet someone. That’s when I met Karmi. At first, she was really nice, albeit somewhat crazy. You know, like Honey-Lemon. But when Granville left, she told me, quote, “You think you are a rare, white blood cell. But you are nothing but a common red blood cell.” I guess that’s her own, biochem way of telling me “Fuck you”? I dunno. Like I said, crazy. I gotta go, the bell rang. Bye.
March 10th
You know, I somehow always find the worst time to write stuff to you. Convenient, huh? If you were here. I’d never hear the end of it. “Hiro, are you writing in the middle of the night? You should be asleep right now! Knucklehead!” Is what you would say. I know it’s not like me to say sappy shit, but I really miss you. Maybe if I held on to you longer, If I had never gone out bot-fighting that night, you would still be alive. That’s what they all say, anyway…

March 15th
Dear Tadashi
You know, I never really explained who “they” were, did I? I have no idea how to say this. I guess… I’ve been hearing voices lately. I’ve never really told anyone. I’ve gotten so used to them now, I can’t even remember what life was like before them. Not even Baymax knows. I guess I’ve gotten better at lying, huh?
March 16th
The voices are getting louder. I can’t ignore them any longer. They’re telling me bad things, to do bad things. Saying that I’m the reason you died. Telling me to kill people. Karmi, specifically. They’re so loud, I can barely sleep at night. I can’t ignore them anymore. I don’t know what to do. Everything is awful right now.
March 17th
Todays new favorite voice. It just laughed at me, like it knew everything. It told me to cut my throat and go start a fire somewhere. We’ll burn it all to the ground. The red hot ashes will rain down and sing songs of glory, and everyone will bow down to us. I want to. I want to burn everything to the ground. Then everyone will be singing our praises forever. Everyone will love us and praise us for the beautiful and wonderful mess we’ve made. Nothing good ever happens without chaos. Without destruction. No, this will be glorious.
March 18th
Sorry about that last entry, I don’t even remember writing it. I’ve been pretty sleep-deprived lately. I don’t know how I’m gonna tell Aunt Cass. She’s been so busy with the cafe; I don’t wanna add more to her stress. I really wish you were here; you’d know what to do. You’d knock some sense into me.
March 19th
The voices told me to go bot-fighting tonight… So I did. I went to Good-Luck Alley and won around ¥272,380. Yeah, that was awesome. I got my ass handed to me, obviously. But I was able to keep the money to myself. That was the most fun I’ve had in a long time. I’m definitely going back tomorrow.

March 21st
Dear Tadashi
Baymax found out. It was the middle of the night, and I was hearing the voices again. I tried covering my ears to make it stop, and my nails dug into my skin. He came out and diagnosed me with something, I don’t remember. I wasn’t paying attention. I begged him not to tell anyone, I felt so awful. After insisting on at least telling Aunt Cass, he went back to his charging station. I didn’t know what to do, so I hacked into his programming and deleted that conversation from his memories. I am so, so sorry. I don’t want to hurt anyone.
March 22nd.
The voices keep telling me to do stuff. Sometimes I listen, just to make them go away. I never do anything that hurts anyone, just small things. Go bot-fighting, shoplift the occasional tangerine, etc. You’d be pretty disappointed in me, huh? It satisfies them, at least. Only for an hour or so, but at least I get some quiet.
March 23rd
I don’t know how to say this. I’m… hurting myself. I can’t feel anything anymore; no emotions, no pain, nothing. They keep telling me to hurt myself, so I can finally feel something again. So I do. And I do feel something. It’s the most I’ve felt in so long. I like how it looks, too. The blood dripping down my arms, onto the mattress. The first time, my curiosity overtook me and I tasted it. Tasted like metal; or that one time I kept my binder on too long and broke a rib, and it punctured my lungs. Those were fun times.
March 24th
Today was weird. Baymax didn’t come home last night, so Aunt Cass and I put together a search party of his most recent patients. Sophia, Mrs. Kiko, Mbita, and a cat named Yachi. He was in an abandoned factory with his battery fully drained. The place was about to be demolished, but Yachi managed to stop it because one of the employees loves cats and didn’t want him to die. Fun day.

March 26th
Dear Tadashi
Karmi is at it again. Called me ugly. Told me I will never have friends. I hate her. I hate her so much. I want to just end it all, to make it stop. I want to kill her. I want to kill myself. And I just want it to stop.
I’m scared. I’m so scared. The voices are even louder. Telling me even more terrible things. Repeating what Karmi says. I’m starting to believe it now. I really, really need your help. I need your comfort. You always knew what to say to make me feel better.
March 27th.
I went bot-fighting again. It was fun, until some guys kicked my ass. I have a black eye now. I’m scared for Aunt Cass to find out. I’ve already caused her so much pain. She doesn’t deserve this. On the other hand, they stole megabot. They’re idiots though, so I just pressed the self-destruct button when I got home. I imagine they’re gonna kick my ass harder the next time I see them.
March 28th
I think I have an eating disorder now. I haven’t eaten all day. Heck, I haven’t eaten in a few days. Aunt Cass is starting to worry, so I have to force it down to make her happy. I have to vomit afterwards. It’s getting so, so much worse. This is all Karmi’s fault. All her fault. All YOUR fault. If you hadn’t committed suicide like a fucking moron, I wouldn’t be like this today. But no, you just had to be a selfish piece of shit.
March 29th.
I’m sorry about what I said yesterday. I didn’t mean it. The voices convinced me about that stuff. I don’t actually hate you, and I don’t blame you either. It’s not your fault, it’s mine. If I hadn’t been so addicted to gambling, then you would be here. I’m the selfish one, not you. I’m the fucking moron here. It’s just what they made me into. I’m terrified to talk to you anymore. This has taken over my life.

March 30th
Dear Tadashi
I woke up today feeling horrible. Like every single part of my body ached. My head throbbed. I looked at my phone and realized I hadn’t showered in a while. A shower sounded great. It reminded me of being seven years old again. There was nothing else I wanted to do except relax and enjoy a nice, warm bath. What kind of life is this, anyway? Every minute of every day feels like torture. I just want this nightmare to end. Can I fix this somehow? Please tell me yes. I know that sounds dumb, but it’s the only thing keeping me sane right now.
March 31st.
Just… Please, please… Stop talking to me. Don’t let me hear your voice. I promise I’ll behave. Just give me this one chance. You could never trust me, but please, just stop talking. I don’t want to hear it. Please. Just stay silent and leave me alone.
April 1st
Seriously, where do these entries come from? I don’t understand. Where does the madness end? Why isn’t it ever making sense? Am I insane? Is that possible?
I took a bath. Hot water, good, relaxing bubbles, and soothe all those aches. It helps. But only for a little while. The voices aren’t satisfied yet. I thought about cutting myself with a knife. One of those cheap knives you get at the store. Cheap ones break easily. I want to draw blood, but that would take too long. Besides, blood isn’t satisfying enough. Do I even want blood? Or should I use something else? I shouldn’t torture myself like this. I’m better than this. Why am I doing this?
It doesn’t matter.
April 2nd
This might sound ridiculous, but the voices started whispering something a few minutes ago. Some nonsense words. A bunch of nonsensical ideas. Ideas I could never possibly agree with, and ideas that don’t even make sense. At first I thought it was maybe an accident, like a car driving by and shattering my window. I listened for a moment longer and noticed that it was coming from somewhere deep within me. Where do they come from? What the hell is happening?
It doesn’t matter.

By the Grace of Granville
(Warning: This post is long.  But what else is new when it comes to character analyses?)
One of the bigger mysteries that gets introduced into Big Hero 6: The Series made their introduction in the very first episode, got a little bit of expansion into their background, and then didn’t really see much daylight for the rest of the series sand her becoming an even-numbered wheel. No, I’m not talking about Obake.
Tumblr media
I’m talking about Professor Granville, the newly-installed dean of the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology.
People, including myself, play Granville up as some sort of Nick Fury-esque figure.  She’s always in the know, gives advice to the team, and seems to have a general understanding of everything at once.
This is further helped by the fact that we don’t know a lot about what she has been up to since she resigned after Obake’s accident. It’s hindered by the fact that there may be some misinformation going on at the Big Hero 6 Wiki.
Tumblr media
Here’s the introductory blurb for Professor Granville on her page:
Grace Granville has been a professor at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology for at least 20 years, having taught Wendy Wower and Trevor Trengrove among other modern day geniuses.
She used to teach robotics and had her own star student, Bob Aken, but once he began an experiment to build an energy amplifier, it went awry as the amplifier exploded on his face, the result of which sent him to the hospital.
Though Bob survived, Granville felt extreme guilt from the incident and resigned. However, she kept the remains of the amplifier, possibly unaware that it still worked, as a reminder to not repeat the same mistakes.
She would return decades later to teach thermodynamics when Robert Callaghan, the dean of the institute at the time, was thought to have died, then resurfaced as the villain Yokai and was arrested for putting San Fransokyo in danger. Professor Granville became the college's new dean as she settled into her new role quite well. Now, after rewatching “Mini-Max”, I call into question the very first part that she’s been a professor there for at least 20 years.  As far as I am aware of, that has never been said or confirmed in the show.  She said herself (and the yearbook and Callaghan confirm this) that she worked there 20 years ago.  That’s not the same thing.  Working there for 20 years is not the same thing as being there 20 years ago.  So is that a discrepancy or am I the one who doesn’t remember things correctly?
And let’s go to what Callaghan said about the incident when Hiro went to visit him in prison in “Mini-Max”:
Robert: “She was in the lab after hours.  Something went wrong.  There was...an incident.”
Hiro:  “What kind of incident?” Robert: ”Officially, a pipe burst.  But there were rumors.  An unsanctioned project gone wrong.” Hiro:  ”So she was fired?”
Robert: “She resigned.  The matter was not pursued further.  That’s all I know.” OK, first of all...was Callaghan not the dean twenty years ago?  And even if he wasn’t...
Tumblr media
Does anyone think that was caused by a simple burst pipe?  What was in said pipe?  Lava?  TNT?  Mentos and Coke?
That leads to the second possibility: Callaghan was Dean at the time, knew about it, and “pushed” Granville to resign to avoid a messy lawsuit.
But we’re getting away from the original point, which is...what exactly has Granville been doing this entire time? I find it hard to believe that Granville was still at the school when Tadashi, Go Go, Honey Lemon, and Wasabi were there.  You’d think that one of them would have said something about it, and all through the conversations in “Mini-Max” gave no indication of that as well.
So she’s been gone for twenty years (presumably).  Which begs the next question... Why did she have to become the dean? Endangering a student’s life is a very serious thing.  Something like that can’t be just forgiven.  So, why did it have to be her? It’s not like there’s not other candidates:
Tumblr media
(From left to right: Monica Rambeau [one of the Physics professors], Grace Granville, Robert Callaghan, Linda Carter, and Timothy Dugan.  Note that these are merely names I’ve given them based off of who I think they are and not canon names.  However, for the sake of simplicity, I will refer to them as such from here on out.) Monica might have been a good replacement.  Linda’s just the nurse, so unlikely.  Dugan’s the Dean of Athletics, so probably not.  The dean doesn’t have to be the robotics professor, right?  Granville teaches Thermodynamics. And then you have Professor Kameela from the comics, who appears to be another Physics professor:
Tumblr media
So why her?
Granville’s been out of the game, as far as we know, for a long time.  Did the board at SFIT really have no other options other than Granville?  Why give the top job to someone who hasn’t even stepped foot in SFIT for decades?
And the worst part is that I don’t really have a good answer for that.  The show delves into Granville’s history with Obake a lot and not enough into her actual history with SFIT, so that part is pretty much an unsolved mystery.
Tumblr media
And if the info on the Wiki is true, then that means...what?  Granville was teaching for 20 years, and then took a 20 year break.  Wouldn’t that put Granville in her 60s, at minimum? (She looks pretty good for possibly being in her 60s.  Maybe she got some Infinity Formula from her possible Marvel counterpart.)
I think it’s much more possible that she’s in her early 50s.  That gives her enough time to be a professor, have an actual working history, and then have to leave with Obake’s accident. So my personal timeline for her career would be something like this.  For the sake of being simple, let’s assume that Granville is an even 50, and also that Big Hero 6 the movie takes place in the year 2031 (as per movie screenshots):
1981 - Grace Gretchen Granville is born 2002 - Graduates college (perhaps at SFIT; haven’t thought that far ahead) Sometime between 2002 and 2004 - Granville begins her work at [Redacted] 2005 - Granville become a TA in the Thermodynamics department (as per Highway to Hell Chapter 2, “In The Details”) 2006 to 2007 - Given government assignment to [SORT OF Redacted] 2007 - Returns to SFIT 2007 to 2011 - Becomes thermodynamics professor at SFIT; continues periodic work at [Redacted] 2011 - Obake’s accident; Granville resigns from SFIT 2011 to 2013 - Takes a position with [SUPER Redacted] in Symkaria 2013 - Returns stateside and [Redacted] 2013 to 2031 - Various jobs and positions, including start-up at Fathom Blue Incorporated and a instructor at the San Fransokyo Police Academy with Sara Pezzini 2031 (Current Time) - Granville becomes Dean at SFIT (Keep in mind that this is a sliding timeline which is subject to change.  Probably.) Man, that’s a lot of redacted information.  It’s almost like she worked for a secret government organization and did a lot of things that aren’t on the public record or something.
Tumblr media
I am going to delve into Granville’s history in future stories, and that will include something that I’ve done a fanart on. Mainly this:
Tumblr media
The Wakanda story is going to happen at some point, and it’s going to involve one of the redacted items above (from 2002 - 2003).  What exactly she was doing there is going to stay secret for a little bit. Speaking of which, I had done research on a few pieces of Wakandan technology.  Guess which one I found of particular interest.
Tumblr media
The Kimoyo Beads.  A bracelet given to every single Wakandan citizen that stores all of their medical information and serves as an everyday tool for them. It also notes that it doesn’t work outside of Wakanda because of its reliance on tapping into Vibranium as a power source.
Now, what would happen if a very realistic version of Vibranium were to find its way out of the country and into Granville’s orbit?
Tumblr media
I wonder if her bracelet would start working again. Mysteries abound when it comes to Grace Granville.  If we’re lucky, maybe we’ll solve a few of them before too long.

[AO3] [Wattpad]
---
Getting enough sleep to stay awake throughout the day and actually feeling well rested are two completely separate things. Despite having a difficult time getting to sleep, Tadashi knew he could function with the amount of rest he got. Unfortunately, he woke up feeling as though he hadn’t slept at all. The second his eyes fluttered open, his nerves attempted to get the better of him.
He felt like a freshman again. He hadn’t been this nervous since his first day at SFIT. Of course, he’d much rather experience his first-day jitters again than his current rising anxieties that piled up with each unsettling thought that came to mind.
He hasn’t been on campus since the night of the showcase. The last time he was there, Hiro was alive. He had gotten his acceptance letter. This was supposed to be his first day of college. He should be here. Hiro should be the one that’s nervous and Tadashi should be the one to help him feel relaxed. Today was supposed to be the day that him and their friends would show Hiro around to make sure he knew where all his classes were. Today was meant to be such a great day.
Tadashi sighed as he rubbed the back of his neck. Not too long after he began attending SFIT, it became a second home to him. He met his friends who he loved dearly. He spent countless hours in the nerd lab or his own private lab. For the most part, he got along great with his professors.
Memories of Callaghan plagued his mind. His mentor. His favorite teacher. Someone he not only idolized, but respected and learned a lot from. He still couldn’t get his head wrapped around that a man he looked up to could be capable of causing so much destruction and chaos. Even knowing why his former professor went to great lengths to do what he nearly succeeded in doing, it wasn’t an easy pill to swallow. Tadashi’s heart ached as he remembered simpler times where he could go to him for advice on projects. He trusted him. He mourned him when he thought he perished with Hiro.
A shudder traveled down his spine. Thinking of Callaghan only resulted in nausea forming in the pit of his stomach. Taking in a deep breath, Tadashi attempted to calm his boiling blood. At least he wouldn’t ever see him at SFIT again. Someone else would be taking his place as the new Dean of Students. Whoever that would be, it didn’t matter. Tadashi had no intentions of getting close to them. He highly doubted that they would have some traumatic past that would eventually lead to a life of villainy, but nonetheless his trust wore thin.
While getting dressed, the robotics major began to debate if going to school was actually a good idea. It would give him the normal routine he needed, but the campus was now a painful reminder of what he was still going through. Why surround himself in an environment he’d have a difficult time healing in?
Sitting down on his neatly made bed, Tadashi reached for his phone. He fumbled it in his hands, wondering if he should text his friends to tell him he might not go. They’d understand why it’s so hard. Yet, he couldn’t bring himself to message them. There was still a part of him that was optimistic about going. If he could get through the first day back, it would only get easier from there. He was proud to be a student.
Instead, he pressed the photo gallery app. Immediately, he was greeted by his most recent photos which were ones of him and the gang. All of which were ones that Honey Lemon had taken and sent to him and the others. Some of which included Baymax.
He gulped as he scrolled upwards. It didn’t take more than a few seconds to stumble upon a particular photograph that Tadashi would always treasure. The group selfie they took before Hiro presented his microbots. The last picture Hiro was ever in. His precious, tooth-gapped smile showing both nervousness and excitement. None of them could have been prepared for what happened later that evening.
Tadashi kept scrolling. His photo gallery consisted mainly of pictures of his family; Hiro respectively. Over the years, he and Aunt Cass always made sure to capture memories through photos and videos of Hiro. Whether it be his greatest achievements or candid moments, they always had a camera ready.
His scrolling led him to stumbling upon a fun memory. Around two years ago, Hiro expressed his desire to learn how to ride a bicycle. In truth, this had been because he was being teased at school about not knowing how. Bullies apparently thought it was hilarious that he could do physics equations in his head, but couldn’t ride a bike. Admittedly, Hiro felt no need to learn at first. Between Tadashi and Aunt Cass being able to give his rides, taking a trolley or walking, riding a bike was never a priority. However, word got around Hiro’s high school that he couldn’t.
With the taunting going on for weeks without any signs of stopping, the young genius couldn’t take it anymore. He wanted to learn.
What started off as wanting to stop the ridiculous bullying eventually became Hiro wanting to learn for himself. Though there were many falls and injuries which led to him wanting to quit, he never stopped trying.
It wasn’t long before Hiro felt ready to take the training wheels off. Confident that he could ride a bike the way other kids could, they all drove to a nearby park. Once they found a parking spot and got out of the car, Aunt Cass starting filming the event on her phone.
Tadashi pressed the play button. The video started out with them all by Cass’ truck. Tadashi was unloading the bicycle from the back and Hiro was covering his face from the camera.
“Aunt Cass, do you have to film this?” Hiro asked. Tadashi cracked a sad smile hearing his brother’s voice. He was twelve at the time and his voice was starting to change.
Cass giggled. “Of course I do, sweetie! This is a big day for you!”
Their aunt continued to make commentary as her nephews walked side by side. Hiro guided his bike steadily along the path. When they had made it far down enough, Hiro positioned the bike in the direction he was going to pedal.
Carefully, the preteen sat on his bike. Hiro made sure his helmet was fastened tightly to his head. As he brought his feet to the pedals, Tadashi placed his hands on Hiro’s shoulders. Cass zoomed in on elder brother’s proud smile.
“Okay, Hiro. I’m gonna let you go now. Ready?”
When the camera zoomed back out, Tadashi began a running start for Hiro. He hadn’t given Hiro the chance to answer back, causing him to tense up. His eyes grew wider by the second when the reality set in that Tadashi would be letting go soon.
“No no no, Tadashi wait!” he yelled.
The siblings were right in front of the camera. Although Hiro grew more afraid, Tadashi gently let go of him. “Don’t be scared, little brother! Just pedal harder! You can do it!”
Cass angled her phone directly at her younger nephew. There were no signs of Hiro swerving. He was riding his bike with ease, smoothly pedaling down the pathway. Aunt Cass was cheering him on.
As Tadashi could hear his own words of encouragement, he paused the video. He didn’t need to watch the rest. He knew Hiro accomplished his goal as he always did.
Smiling fondly, Tadashi brushed his thumb against the image of Hiro successfully riding his bicycle. Despite the fear he initially had, Hiro kept going. Perhaps this was something Tadashi needed to be reminded of. He still had his reservations about going back to school, but if he didn’t go today, would he ever go back?
“Well, Hiro...today would have been your first day of nerd school.” Tadashi’s face fell into a frown. “Guess I’m gonna have to go for both of us.”
Releasing a sharp exhale, Tadashi stood up from his bed. He reached for his satchel, putting his phone away and resting the strap on his shoulder. Once entering what used to be Hiro’s side of the bedroom, he turned to close the sliding door. While doing so, he didn’t realize that his thumb was in a bad spot. Before he could move it out of the way, it was mildly crushed between the door and the wall.
“Ow!” He hissed, shaking his thumb in an attempt to relieve the wavering pain.
Observing his pulsating thumb, it occurred to Tadashi that by now, his creation would have already inflated out of its charging station from saying his activation phrase. The young adult spared a woeful glance down at the carrier. He thought back to that fateful day where he had to part ways with Baymax. The robot would be floating aimlessly in the realm of that portal for eternity.
Shaking his head at the thought, Tadashi forced himself to walk away. As he headed for the stairs, his eyes wandered over to something on Hiro’s side of the room.
On Hiro’s desk lied Megabot. The bot that he had created for the sole purpose of winning illegal bot-fights. A robot that Tadashi once despised since its potential wasn’t being put to good use. The robot that inspired Hiro to come up with his microbots.
Although he didn’t like Megabot’s purpose, the fighter bot now held a special place in Tadashi’s heart. It was Hiro’s creation. Something that made his brother happy despite it also causing trouble for him. Tadashi never thought he’d like seeing the yellow smiley face Hiro drew on it so much.
Tadashi reached out, grabbing Megabot. He smiled back at the bot and stashed it inside his bag.
---
As usual, the cafe was buzzing with customers. Multiple conversations were going on at once, but the only voice that caught Tadashi’s attention was the news anchor on TV. Ever since the defeat of Callaghan, reports were flooding in throughout the entire city. Whether on television or in newspapers, him and his friends had prevented San Fransokyo from being destroyed. Thankfully, their identities remained a secret which was good considering that being superheroes was a one-time thing.
It didn’t take long for Tadashi to spot his group of friends. Gogo, Wasabi, and Honey Lemon were sipping on their beverages while Fred ate what he appropriately called ‘victory pancakes’. When approaching the table, Tadashi greeted them with a hello that he hoped didn’t sound too tiresome.
Upon seeing their best friend, the group simultaneously smiled up at him. They were starting to worry that Tadashi may have decided to back out on attending school today. Not that they could blame him, but seeing that he was going to at least try was assuring.
“Tadashi!” Honey exclaimed.
Wasabi was the first to get up from his seat. He gave Tadashi a soft pat on his shoulder. “Come on. Let’s not be late.”
His friends started to get up from the table. With all five of them ready to leave, they made their way to exit the cafe. Tadashi was about to follow them, but he heard footsteps approaching in his direction. Looking over his shoulder, he saw his aunt walking towards him with a brown paper bag. “Hey, sweetie. I made you a lunch.” She handed the lunch bag to her nephew. Right as he was about to take it from her, she pulled it back. “Should I have packed your lunch? You probably want to buy your own in the cafeteria.” She indecisively kept handing him the bag, only to bring it back to her. “Are bagged lunches still cool?”
Tadashi smiled at her. Cass had always been such a thoughtful guardian. She knew just as well as his friends that going to school today wouldn’t be easy.
“Oh well, I guess it doesn’t matter,” Cass told him. Smiling back at him, she reached up to embrace Tadashi as tightly as he could. “You have a great day, okay?”
Chuckling, Tadashi hugged her back. The longer the hug went, the tighter her hold seemed to get. Over the years, he had gotten used to her being squeezed by her bone-crushing embraces. Right now wasn’t the time for one. He patted her back in hopes she’d get the hint to release him. “A-Aunt Cass,” his voice strained. “I gotta go.”
Pulling away from the hug, Cass handed Tadashi the lunch she made him, finally allowing him to take it. “Okay. I’ll see you later.”
Tadashi waved at her before turning around. The others had been waiting for him to catch up, now leaving the cafe one by one. A couple steps forward and he paused. Glancing back over at his aunt, he thought about something that she had started doing recently. Now seemed as good a time as any to return the gesture.
Rushing back over to her, Tadashi initiated the hug this time. “Last hug,” he told her.
Not expecting Tadashi to turn back, Cass jumped. However, when she realized what this hug was all about, she immediately returned it. The ‘last hug’ was something she decided to do not too long after Hiro’s passing. She was more than aware that anything could happen to the people she loved most at any moment. Because of that, she wanted to make sure that any time her and Tadashi parted ways would be a hug. That if anything happened to either of them, their last moment spent together was a happy one.
“I’m so proud of you,” she gushed. She pulled away slightly from the hug, resting her hand lightly on Tadashi’s jawline. “And I know Hiro would be happy for you too.”
His aunts’ kind words brought a warm smile to his face. Though there were many moments where Cass felt unqualified to be a guardian, she always seemed to know what to say when support was most needed.
“Thanks, Aunt Cass.”
---
He wished it had taken longer to get to school. The second the all too familiar campus came into view, Tadashi looked away. A part of him regretted not riding his moped. He could have taken the long way and stayed in the student parking lot until he needed to go to his first class. Ultimately, he knew if he had driven to SFIT on his own terms, there would have been a higher chance of him turning back. Besides, with his mind in as many places as it has been, driving probably wasn’t the best idea.
The endless support and encouragement his friends were giving him was something he admittedly knew he needed. They all needed one another after what they’ve been through. They may not have known Hiro for very long, but they all considered him a friend. They were looking forward to having him attend college and to get to know him better. All of them were devastated when they heard what happened to him. All of them were shocked when they saw that the man behind the mask was Professor Callaghan. All of them were saddened by the loss of Baymax.
All the experiences brought them closer together. While Tadashi was suffering the most out of the hardships, they were all giving their best efforts with pushing forward.
Standing in front of the main entrance of the school, everyone gave Tadashi a moment to take it in. He absentmindedly fiddled the strap of his satchel, looking away from the structure with a frown plastered on his face. As much as it hurt to think about, he couldn’t help, but imagine Hiro yanking his arm forward. To explore the campus and everything it had to offer.
He was pulled out his thoughts when he felt the gentle touch of Honey’s hand against his shoulder. “Are you nervous, Tadashi?” She studied his facial expression, trying to gauge where his emotions were at.
Tadashi responded with a sigh. “I guess so,” he shrugged.
“Hey, I know what will cheer you up,” Fred spoke up. “Let’s walk around the quad for a bit. I bet a lot of people are there with their insane projects!” Wasabi smiled at the idea. “We do have time before our first classes. Might as well enjoy ourselves before we meet the new dean. I’ve heard that she’s a hard case.” He emphasized that last part between his teeth, covering the side of his mouth with his hand in the event that this new professor was somehow behind him.
“It’s up to you,” Gogo chimed in.
Tadashi cracked a small smile, appreciative that his friends were giving their best efforts to make him more comfortable. Quite frankly, he had no clue how he’d manage if they weren’t here.
For many reasons, the quad sounded like a great option. It was a great place to go on campus to get fresh air, study or test out projects. There would definitely be a lot of familiar faces that he hasn’t seen in a while. And to his personal delight, they’d be far away from the exposition hall.
“Sounds good.” Tadashi tried to sound as enthusiastic as he could. In reality, it probably sounded more forced than he intended, but no one commented on it.
Without another word, the group of five went up the stairs, hopeful that going to the quad was exactly what they needed to start off the semester right.
---
It wasn’t.
Nothing went wrong. There were, in fact, fellow classmates in the quad. Some were sitting on blankets and catching up with their friends. Others were testing out their projects. It was refreshing to see what everyone else was up to, bringing sparkles to Tadashi’s eyes.
However, the entire time the group was there, the mood amongst everyone shifted. Everyone noticed the presence of the gang, Tadashi in particular. Fred had always described Tadashi as an SFIT legend to which the robotics major would humbly laugh off. Despite not wanting to admit it, the mascot had a point. Most, if not everyone, knew Tadashi. Those who didn’t have a class with him at least knew his name.
If they didn’t know who he was before, everyone on campus knew now due to the showcase incident. This resulted in people whispering to their friends the second they saw Tadashi. Some spared pitiful glances his way, much to his displeasure. No one said a word. It seemed like they were all trying to figure out how he was and didn’t want to ask out of fear of upsetting him.
Uneasiness built up in his gut. The others caught on to his discomfort, asking if he wanted to go to the cafeteria instead. He simply shook his head, not wanting to be around a large group of people until his first class.
The only decent place to go was the Ito Ishioka Robotics Lab. Wasabi suggested to spend time in the nerd lab, but after the disappointing visit to the quad, Tadashi asked if they could walk around the halls.
His friends happily obliged, trying to keep things casual. They started talking about their schedules, figuring out if they’d be in any classes together. Gogo groaned due to finding out her first class would be Applied Particle Physics, but at least she’d have Honey Lemon to talk to.
“What’s your first class, Tadashi?” Fred asked. When he didn’t get a response, he looked over his shoulder.
Not too far away, Tadashi had stopped walking with the others. Currently, he faced the door leading to his personal lab. He wanted to go inside, but his arms remained stiff at his sides, refusing to reach for the handle.
Concerned for their saddened friend, Wasabi walked over to him. When he laid a hand on his shoulder, Tadashi immediately looked up at him. His widened eyes and gloomy pout sent an empathetic pang in Wasabi’s chest. “You okay, man?” He asked softly.
“Yeah.” Tadashi looked away from him. “Yeah…” A small chill traveled down his spine. “There’s just...a lot of good memories in there. Creating Baymax and...a-and introducing Hiro to Baymax…” His monotone voice trembled as he recalled the evening that he first brought his brother on campus. It thrilled him beyond relief that he had gone from wanting to make a career out of bot-fighting to attending SFIT so quickly. Sharing his lab with him crossed his mind several times. There was no doubt in his mind that they would have worked on so many projects together. Hiro probably would have come up with ideas to include for Baymax.
The hand Wasabi had on Tadashi’s shoulder was a more firm grasp now. “We understand. We miss Hiro too...and Baymax.”
At the mention of the young robotics prodigy and healthcare companion, they all shared a moment of silence. There wasn’t anything they could add to the conversation. What Wasabi said was true. They all knew it and didn’t want to say anything to cause Tadashi more distress than he was already dealing with.
“Do you mind if I catch up with you guys later?” Tadashi requested. “I would like to be in my lab alone for a bit.”
He gave his friends a guilty look, feeling bad for wanting some space. On the darkest days of his life, he pushed away everyone he loved. He didn’t want to be pitied or receive comfort for something he felt like he could have prevented. No matter how many times he ignored them, they still contacted him as often as they could. Although they met up again under intense circumstances, it made Tadashi realize how much he missed their company.
Thankfully, none of them seemed worried about parting ways. Wasabi flashed him a smile before him and the other turned to continue walking.
Without the pressure of being watched, Tadashi finally gripped his hand on the handle. He slowly opened the door, exhaling a breath he didn’t know he had been holding. Stepping inside, he looked around his lab. Everything was exactly where he left it.
He walked over to his desk. The first thing he noticed was his sketchbook which contained drawings of Baymax. He opened the book, eyeing the detailed sketches of his invention. It felt like forever ago when he was having difficulties to get his design just right. He knew he wanted something simple, but if creating Baymax proved anything to him, it was that everything about him was complex. Robotics was his passion; therefore he was a perfectionist when it came to his creations. Baymax was far from being an exception.
With his mind being on robots, Tadashi remembered that he had packed Megabot with him. Flipping the flap of his satchel, Tadashi dug through his bag until he found the bot. He didn’t have it in his heart to smile.
“Wish you were here, little brother.”
Tadashi carefully sat Megabot down against his desk lamp. He turned around to take in the rest of his surroundings. His eyes curiously wandered to a large box on the ground. Last he checked, he didn’t put that there. What was in it?
He made his way over to the box, curiously opening it. With two flaps undone, he was already able to see what was inside. His heart dropped while undoing the remaining flaps. It was Baymax’s rocket fist.
How could he have forgotten? After the battle with Callaghan, all that was left of him was the rocket fist he had used to save him and Abigail. Tadashi didn’t want it in the house in the event Aunt Cass found it and Wasabi offered to put it in his lab for him.
Although the piece of armor brought back agonizing memories, he couldn’t let it stay in the box. Physically, it was the only part of Baymax he had left. Even though it wasn’t a part from his regular design, it was still his.
Lifting it out of the box, Tadashi cautiously brought it over to one of his cluttered tables. He wasn’t sure if this would be the permanent spot for it yet, but for now this worked.
Once it was set down, Tadashi placed a hand atop of the thumb. A warm smile formed across his face as he thought back to how helpful his friend had been. No matter how helpless he felt when they had to say goodbye, Tadashi felt nothing, but gratitude towards Baymax. He’d give anything to repay him.
In an attempt to lighten his mood, Tadashi fist bumped the rocket fist. “Ba-la-la-la,” he imitated fondly. He remembered when he first taught Baymax what a fist bump was. It could not have been more adorable.
Just as he was about to turn away, Tadashi’s eyes caught sight of something peculiar peeking through the fingers of the rocket. What was that? Last he knew, nothing was in Baymax’s hand when he deactivated. Perhaps it was some debris that had been floating around in the portal?
Turning back, he carefully undid each finger of the fist. The object slid down, lying in the center of the palm. An object that Tadashi immediately recognized the second he got a good look at it.
It was the chip he created for Baymax. The chip that he programmed over ten thousand medical procedures into. The heart of his friend. Something he believed would be gone forever. It was here the whole time. How it was possible, he was unsure. But it didn’t matter. He still had the key to what makes Baymax who he is.
“My chip,” he marveled breathlessly. He mentally noted that the chip had earned a couple small cracks, but it was definitely operable. With that in mind, the wheels in Tadashi’s head started turning at full speed. A huge smile appeared on his face. He could rebuild Baymax! In truth, the idea had crossed his mind before, but he held back on it. Tadashi worried that if he completely recreated Baymax from scratch, he wouldn’t be the same. Sure, the outside of him wouldn’t be the original, but the chip was intact. That was the important part.
With adrenaline pumping through his veins, Tadashi pulled up his blueprints of Baymax on his computer. He paced around his lab, looking through drawers to check and see what pieces he already had to work with. On a piece of paper, he sketched out the skeleton on his robotic friend, making notes on what he wanted to upgrade him with. He recalled Hiro telling him that super capacitors would help him charge faster. That was a must.
There were still some parts he’d need to get later, but Tadashi had the majority of things he’d need to remake Baymax. For now, he sat at his desk to work out some basic outlines. “Don’t worry, buddy,” he said as he sketched more ideas out. “You’ll be back to normal soon. I promise.”
As the robotics student dove further into his work, the orange screen from across the room turned on. A video started to play, featuring a slender, modest African-American woman. “Good morning. I’m Professor Granville, your new Dean of Students. Welcome to San Fransokyo Institute of Technology.”
The second he heard her talking, Tadashi turned his attention to the video. So this was the new dean. He knew nothing about her, but he could see why people assumed she was tough. She talked professionally and had a stern look on her face. There was an intimidating vibe to her, but that was to be expected. She has big shoes to fill and she seemed prepared.
Her video message was short and straight to the point. She casually welcomed everyone back to SFIT and formally introduced herself. Tadashi didn’t have an opinion on her yet, but she seemed like a good fit for the new dean. She wouldn’t have been chosen for the job if she wasn’t qualified after all. Not to mention after the whole Callaghan ordeal, they probably had to perform background checks on potential candidates.
He wanted to like her. He hoped he would. But he also wanted to see her solely as a professor. Not his mentor. Not his friend. A teacher that he hoped to gain a mutual respect with at most.
With the video done, Tadashi went right back to working out some more details in Baymax’s design. He was so invested in his work that he hadn’t heard someone knocking at his door. Or that that same person entered inside his lab.
“Mr. Hamada?”
Still no response. Once Tadashi fell deep into projects, the rest of the world disappeared.
“Mr. Hamada!”
The voice calling out to him finally got through. The upperclassman jolted in his seat, quickly turning around in his chair to see who was talking to him. There, now in person, stood Professor Granville. She stood tall with her hands behind her back. A displeased frown had made its way on her face.
Tadashi shifted his eyes around the room a couple times before focusing his attention back on her. “U-um, sorry,” he began. “I-I didn’t hear you.”
“I see you’re making yourself comfortable in your lab,” the professor speculated. Tadashi gulped. “Yeah...I am actually.”
Something in Professor Granville’s expression appeared to soften a little. “Well, I wanted to stop by to personally welcome you back. I have heard a great deal about you...and what you have recently been through. I’m sorry for you loss.”
Her unexpected condolence brought back the ache in Tadashi’s heart that had momentarily left when he had discovered Baymax’s chip. He hadn’t known this new professor for more than thirty seconds and she already knew more about him than he wished she did.
“Oh...thank you.” He turned back around to face his desk, not wanting her to see him upset. “My brother was really excited about going here…”
“Hiro was quite the impressive prodigy. I have no doubt that he would have excelled as a student here.”
Tadashi’s head hung low. He wanted to question how much she knew about his brother, but now wasn’t the time to ask. Her words were truthful, but it stung to hear them past tense.
“After all, he would have had you to help guide him.” Granville clasped her hands together. “You are a gifted, young man and I look forward to getting to know you better.”
Her touching words managed to make Tadashi smile if only for less than a second. A grin nearly twitched along his lips, only for him to remind himself to remain neutral. He turned back around to face her again. “Thank you. I’m sure I’ll get to know you better too.”
Granville nodded. “Yes, well I don’t think it’ll be anytime soon. Your first class is in a few minutes and I know you’re not one to be tardy.”
As she started to walk away, Tadashi grabbed for his notes and Baymax’s chip, placing them inside his satchel. “Right.” He laughed nervously. “I don’t want to be late.” He rushed out the door, following right behind the new dean. “It was nice to me-”
“Tick tock, Mr. Hamada,” Granville interrupted. “Don’t want to keep your professor waiting.”
Having nothing left to say, Professor Granville walked away, maintaining her stiff posture. Tadashi watched her walk off for a brief moment before turning to go to class. That certainly wasn’t how he expected to meet the new professor, but it went surprisingly well.
Still, he’d rather not think too much of it. He had more important things to focus on. And he’d work nonstop if he had to to get Baymax back.
---
Omg the first chapter to this AU is finally finished! Wow, these chapters are going to be long. I originally planned to have the chapters even way longer though. But the idea of the chapters being twice as long definitely didn’t seem ideal to me and kept me from being motivated.
Basically, Baymax Returns was originally going to have 4 chapters. Every 22 minute episode I plan on doing would have 2. And Countdown To Catastrophe would have 6. But now I have it set where Baymax Returns is going to have 8. Regular 22 minute episodes will have 4. CTC will have somewhere between 10-12??? Idk, I’ll figure it out. The second I decided to cut the chapters shorter, I was much more excited to continue writing. I definitely have my work cut out for me haha.
So far, things in this AU are pretty similar to what’s going on in the show. Obviously, not everything is going to be the same. Tadashi is going to be making completely different decisions along the way than Hiro did. Some might be similar. You’ll have to see how things go as the story continues. For now, he’s taking things at his own pace. I hope you all will be excited to see what will go on.
Also, I made a thing in photoshop based on this chapter!
Tumblr media
Here it is! It’s not really great, but I had fun editing it.
Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed the first chapter! :D

Big Hero 7: The Series
Big Hero 7 Season 2
Tumblr media
The calm before the storm
*Nimble hands set up a camera to record a video, to which it finally shows Cora Mizichio in her living room. She lets out a deep breath before she smiles up at the camera.*
Cora: Hi! It's me again! Wow,a lot of things has happened since I started this video diary, and let me tell you: It was a very insane, yet stupidly awesome ride.
*She pulls out her phone and soon starts a montage of video clips she recorded showing herself and her boyfriend and friends as both themselves and super heroes.*
Cora: Turns out Baymax saved his chip in a rocket first to which Hiro and I decided to rebuild Baymax, but when one glitch caused his body to run around like a lunatic. Didn't help that Yama held Baymax's skeleton and yours truly as hostages for Hiro to do his dirty work on stealing something from Professor Grandville's desk, *Mutters under breathe* more on her later*clear voice*. Because of that it lead to Gogo, Fred, Honey Lemon, and Wasabi to help Hiro rescue us and make it home safely. But when Yama released an army of Boot legged Baymaxes to steal the thing; that was the night we all realized we can be way more. So we put on our suits and stopped the army, stopped Yama, and destroyed the thing. Since that night we became Big Hero 7!
*Cora smiles brightly to herself as she shows the official picture of themselves as super heroes that show their super hero names: Electro-Magnetic Alpha(Hiro), Aqua Girl(Cora), Omega Danger(Baymax), Chemistry Princess(Honey Lemon), Velocity(Gogo), Fredzilla(Fred Frederickson IV) and Blades Master(Wasabi). Then the clips start showing people they met along the way*
Cora: We've met a lot of new people since then, both as supers and students. There's Professor Grandville; a strict but fair dean who is more than what she seemed, Professor Seto my Bio teacher, Mole the pest that bothers Fred and Gogo and deserves a good butt-kicking, *Shows clip of Karmi*… Someone who also deserves a good butt kicking for her behavior to Hiro and I. Esmeralda the fashion major student from SFAI and the woman partially responsible for me going to bot fighting, Commander Carter who got us our super hero licenses along with Mr. Frederickson; both who help young supers get their license to protect them and assist them in whatever mission they are in. Tela-Patty the telepathic girl, Laser blast who uses, you guessed it, laser beams, Sparrow the archer who can hit any target. Finally there's Ice Frost, she can freeze anything and survive subzero temperatures, and who we learned is Miyuki Frost, an animation major student at SFAI. And as any hero can face, there's our Rouge Gsllery: High Voltage, the Mother-Daughter electric dancing crime duo. Globby, a man transformed into a -Globby- mess after a poor choice to steal Honey's chem purse was made. Momakase, a skilled thief and sushi chef who...turned out to be connected to my Papa, and Noodle Burger Boy was an innocent bot before he was hacked and reprogrammed by one man.
*Cora paused as she thinks over what to say next, her smile fading away as she thought about him, along with the memories came a whirlwind of emotions that clash against each other. Finally she looks up and speaks again with a determined brow on her face.*
Cora: A man named Obake, a very intelligent...and very dangerous, mentally stable man whose circumstances turned him into one of our most dangerous villains we ever faced … his birth name was Bob Aken, an orphan... but he was adopted into a Yakuza Clan where he gained a father, a mother...and a brother. He was renamed Kage Mizichio...and his brother... is my father, Mizuchi Mizichio. The heir of the Mizichio Yakuza Clan. The Demonic Titan. *Rubbing her arms as she swallows tightly* Their story was at first innocent and happy... but when their father, Isamu...my grandfather died; Nozako, their mother...*Gulps* My grandmother...took over and immediately darkened their world. They had a strong bond like Hiro and Tadashi, but Nozako's plans for my father and abuse to Kage forced them apart. In the end they both escaped... Kage twice since... he wasn't very successful the first time.
*Cora pulls out two photos, one showing a young Kage with a younger Professor Grandville, and the second photo showing him with a girl that bears a striking resemblance to Cora; save for the freckles, green eyes, and long strawberry blonde hair.*
Cora: With the help of my Papa he managed to get secret classes at SFIT where Professor Grandville protected him and encouraged him to grow. And there's Chara Bonete… she was just a highschool student who met Kage and they... fell in love. But when Kage tried to build an energy amplifier without anyone knowing it exploded. He survived because... Nozako's workers found him as doctors. She punished him by dropping him out of school...and taking away Chara's life. That was when Kage's bond with my papa snapped. Papa's escape was by accident. He was sent on a mission by Kage to retrieve a very powerful medicine that could cure all diseases and heal all wounds. He was supposed to also kill the herbal medicine maker and her daughter to hide any evidence... instead.. he fell in love with her, the daughter of the herbal medicine doctor...my mama. With patience, determination, and love. Papa regained his hope and faith and his connection with Mama grew deeper. But he knew that anytime Nozako could return and harm them, or worse, turn them into her own puppets like she did with him. So he faked his death. After Mama saved him with the very same medicine that he was supposed to steal, he ran away with Mama and Grandmama to San Fransokyo where they hidden themselves and the potion away from the world and from Nozako's reach...even me. But because of Papa's 'Death'... that lead to Nozako blaming Kage for his mission. He was kicked out of the only home he ever had, and since he didn't know Papa was alive he couldn't call for help. All those years of abuse, hate, and mistreatment turned him into a monster... a monster bent on Destroying San Fransokyo to rebuild it to his image, reclaim back his home from Nozako… and mistaking me for Chara. Thankfully Hiro and the gang saved me and stopped him from succeeding his plan. And by some miracle...Papa saved him. He convinced Commander Carter to get Kage help to not only receive treatment for his mental health, but to also get the surgery for his brain damage. A shard from the energy amplifier he built long ago struck his head...and Nozako left it in there to make him suffer. And now...
*Cora pulls out a letter her family received the other day and shows the contents of it.*
Cora: This letter says that Kage had shown significant recovery in both his surgery and his counseling that he's cleared to go home.. and by home I mean here. And the day he's gonna join us is also the day the new semester of SFIT starts. That alone is a shock cause... Hiro and I had been in SFIT for a semester. We've made it this far into our lives and relationship... But that leaves us with something.. what happens now? Kage can't be left alone, and he has to do something. Papa mentioned that he would talk to Grandville when he comes along. Thankfully the first Baymax is gonna join us and help Kage. *Whispers into Camera* That's another story for another time. *Clear voice* We got our answers to this questions we'd thought we would never ask and got closure. But a part of me feels that there's more that my family isn't telling me; I know why Papa had been overprotective of me before but...Grandmama never really told me why they lived in Muirahara woods for so long, or even how Grandmama made such a powerful medicine in the first place. And there's been someone at SFIT that's been seeing 'you know who' a lot...and she gives me a bad feeling inside me... but if we survived Obake and all these crazy things, I'm sure we can deal with whatever happens to us in the future. We're in this together through hell and back.
*Cora smiles brightly as she saves the video and shuts it off to prepare for bed. As she prepares her futon after texting Hiro goodnight with a heart emoji, the moon shines brightly above the bay of San Fransokyo. The waves crashing to the shore along with the pale glow of the moon gives off an aura of great beauty...and great danger. and it shines through not only Cora's window, but to Hiro's as well, then to the rest of the gang, to Mizuchi, to Kaguya...and finally ending it with Kage Mizichio. All of them unaware of their future ahead.*
A.N: Here is a new chapter from me as we near to the premier of Season 2~! The first Baymax is a reference to the KH3 crossover and so he will be joining too! There's also gonna appearances of Kage/Obake and perhaps even... Nozako and the sirens( Which will appear in the future as I post the chapters here). Also, my Editor will update the chapters so the wordings will be different a bit, so till then, enjoy this! Also, Finals is coming for me so I'm gonna be a little busy, so please be patient for me. As for the Hiro HamadaXCora Mizichio ship...
I AM THE CAPTAIN OF THIS SHIP AND I WILL SAIL HER INTO WHATEVER WATERS I PLEASE!
P.s: Please don't share your spoilers into the reviews.
Thank you all for following BH7! Love you all!

@herxes2000 liked for an Elsa starter!!! for Tadashi
❅- The start of a new school year felt different this year. It was probably because Elsa now lived in a new area all the way across the country, or maybe it was starting a new University. She knew she shouldn’t be too nervous, after all the school she started off at was a sister school for SFIT, still it felt different. It had to be because she now resided in San Fransyoko rather than New York. Standing in the office of Professor Granville, the Dean, who was going over things with Elsa. Due to her “situation” Elsa’s enrollment was private. Being the Heiress to one of the top companies in the World made it hard to have a normal social life... and then there was the other thing.
It didn’t take long before Elsa was finished talking with Granville, though she proposed Elsa have someone show her around campus, Elsa reassured her that she’d be fine by herself. Besides she had a few days before classes started back up again, she’d be fine exploring the campus on her own. Though it wasn’t completely empty with students still working on projects or personal experiments, it was still less people.
“So! Where to first?” Her sister, Anna’s, voice rang out as soon as Elsa was in the hallway. Anna had another two weeks before her high school started up so she felt she needed to see Elsa’s campus to get a feel of where she could find her sister.
“Well, we could check out my new lab.” Elsa shrugged.
“Which I’m guessing you forgot to ask where, wait a second!” Anna spoke trying to wave a male down, “Excuse me, could you tell us where this building is?” Anna took the sheet of paper containing the name of the building where the student labs were to ask the male how to get there.
Elsa hadn’t had time to tell Anna she’d be able to find it on her own.

Figuring out the Nerd Lab’s ages... (HC as of 04/23/18)
Obviously Hiro is 14. That’s canon. It’s mentioned a million times. It’s fact.
But everyone else?
*Warning: Spoilers for BH6: The Series*
*Edit: This was created April 23, 2018, so any info learned after this date might not match up. May update this as we learn more. It’s just personal theories and headcannons.*
Also, this is going to be long because I am really, really, bored...
Tadashi:
It’s not mentioned in the movie, but the fact that he had his own lab in the building to work in most likely means he’s an upperclassman. Universities don’t have a whole lot of space to work with so they don’t just hand those bad boys out to anybody. You usually have to be a junior or senior with good academic standing to be given one of those. The average age of a junior is about 20, and by the end of senior year they’re usually 22 (and I didn’t get the impression Tadashi was a graduate student) so I feel he’s somewhere between 20-22, 6-8 years older than Hiro.
Big Hero 6 (Disney Book of Secrets): Hiro’s San Fransokyo Files says he is 18. This is considered Disney publications and I’m guessing this makes 18 canon. But I don’t agree, and I think diving into the series might change this.
In the first episode, Granville wonders what she should with this “upperclassman lab”, implying only upperclassmen are awarded them. Upperclassmen are juniors and seniors, while lowerclassman (or underclassman as spell check wants me to say) are freshmen and sophomores.
In the episode “Failure Mode”, which has yet to be released in the US at this time, Baymax mentions that one of Hiro’s designs for his project is the same thing Tadashi did when he took the class, which would imply Tadashi finished at least one full semester, most likely one full year, at the university before his death, making him not a freshmen by the start of the movie.
Tadashi also did 83 tests on Baymax. That would have taken a long time. He could have been working on Baymax as a freshman, but if he started as junior, (and he probably did because it seems like a lot of the videos of his tests were done in his lab) he was probably halfway through junior year, or fully through the year by the time Baymax was working. People usually end their junior year finally being able to drink alcohol so that would make him 21 depending on where his birthday fell during the school year.
As much as we all love Tadashi, and have been told he was a good student, I don’t think he would have gotten the lab freshmen or sophomore year. I don’t think he was a prodigy like Hiro. I think he started college at the time most people start college, around 18, and would have probably finished at 22.
Hiro got the lab as a freshmen because he’s our prodigy protagonist so obviously they’re going to give it to him (and probably because his brother was killed by one of their professors at an event they were hosting and if this had happened in real life you know the university would be trying to save face at the moment, not just with the family but with the public).
Anyway...
In conclusion, Tadashi seems to be between 20-22, and I’m going to headcannon 21. Tadashi just has that senior aura around him.
For the rest of the team, a lot of the clues come from the episode “Failure Mode”.
Gogo:
This is where things get a bit tricky, and I probably won’t get into it as much as I did Tadashi. There’s nothing to go on in the movie, and Disney hasn’t said anything about her.  Even though Gogo doesn’t have a private lab to work in like Tadashi, that doesn’t necessarily mean she’s not an upperclassman. She might not be a great student, or more likely, her major might not offer private labs to students. But she is a college student, and is most likely between the ages of 18 and 22.
In “Failure Mode”, when Hiro shows everyone his second draft for his project, Gogo dryly remarks that that was what she did as a freshman. This establishes that this class Hiro is taking, that Tadashi also took, is a freshman class. But an even bigger clue is her saying: “that’s what I did when I was a freshman”, implying that she isn’t a freshman. She could now be anywhere between 19 and 22.
There’s also a possibility she started earlier. Some people start college at 17 if their birthday barely misses the cutoff for what grade you can go into (that’s why you don’t see 3 year olds in 4th grade). Usually they’ll turn 18 within a couple of months of classes starting, but it’s not uncommon for it to happen. We already know Hiro and Karmi are the youngest to be admitted into SFIT at 14 and 15 respectively, so none of the team was admitted before 15. Gogo was the one who told Hiro in “Issue 188″ that he stole Karmi’s thing of being the youngest ever admitted to SFIT. Maybe she was admitted at 17 (or even 16) and knows how Karmi feels. That would make her between 17 and 22, but I don’t agree with that. Granville was worried about Karmi not making any friends because she’s antisocial and surrounded by adults, but Gogo is  also a bit antisocial and if she were seventeen years old, Granville (or maybe even Callaghan if Karmi was a student at the time he was dean) would have tried getting them to hang out together as the youngest students in school. (Granville might also be one of those teachers who likes pairing up her students but I digress).
I don’t think she’s older than Tadashi. I think Tadashi is the oldest of the group. The others seem to look up to him like that. But I do think she’s either an upperclassman, or close to being one. The first time we meet her, she’s driving her bike through a crowded lab without a care in the world, but also has this  way of describing her work as being not fast enough, and being a little annoyed by how it’s not working. The way she walks and talks seems more junior than freshman.
Anyway...
In conclusion, Gogo seems to be between 18-20, and I’m going to headcannon 20.
Honey Lemon:
Honey Lemon doesn’t have a private lab to work in like Tadashi, but that doesn’t necessarily mean she’s not an upperclassman. Her major might not offer private labs to students. But she is a college student, and is most likely between the ages of 18 and 22.
By the way she works in the labs, and how she shows Hiro her project, she doesn’t give off that vibe of freshmen. I think she’s been at the university for a while, and has gotten into a little groove with her work.
Now in the series, we get a couple of clues. In “Failure Mode”, she mentions her own project that she did, and that she’s sure Hiro’s project is much different, implying she’s already taken this freshmen course. She’s most likely no longer a freshman, and is probably between 19-22.
She seems younger than Tadashi. She’s a lot more upbeat, like the weight of the real world hasn’t hit her yet, and she could be a bit younger than Gogo too. I think I’m narrowing it down to 19-21.
Anyway...
In conclusion, Honey Lemon seems to be between 19-21, and I’m going to headcannon an older 19, almost 20.
Wasabi:
Wasabi doesn’t have a private lab to work in like Tadashi, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s not an upperclassman either. Hs major might not offer private labs to students. But he is a college student, and is most likely between the ages of 18 and 22.
I always got this older vibe off of Wasabi. He seems more mature than most college students.
In “Failure Mode”, Wasabi mentions getting lost to his first class. The way he mentions this, it sounds like it happened a long time ago and he’s no longer a freshman.. Given the fact they were at the school before Hiro arrived, I don’t think any of them would be freshman, but still. I think Wasabi is somewhere between 19 and 22.
I don’t think Wasabi is a senior, though. I think he’s a good enough student that as a senior he would most likely have gotten a private lab to work in. I’m shrinking it down to 19-21.
There’s not a lot for Wasabi. But I kind of like to headcannon that Tadashi and Wasabi met on that first day of classes, and Tadashi helped the poor guy find the right building.
Anyway...
In conclusion, Wasabi seems to be between 19-21, and I’m going to headcannon 21.
Fred:
Yeah, there’s even less for Fred.
He’s not a student, so we can’t use that as a stepping stone. He’s the school mascot (which they forget to mention in the series). I think with how late games and stuff go, there’s probably regulations in place for minors, so Fred is probably an adult. I don’t think the school would hire a teenager who can only work a certain amount of hours. But as a placeholder, he’s probably around 18-22.
In an earlier draft, he was supposed to be Tadashi’s lab rat. I think he can still be a lab rat for the team. He’d have to be older than 18 in order to do that, of course.
I also headcannon that his parents gave a lot of money to the school (like enough for a new wing) and the school was like “do you want us to let your son enroll here” and his parents were like “nah, he’s just a science enthusiast, but can he be the school mascot” and the school was like “uh....sure?”
Anyway...
In conclusion, Fred seems to be between 18-22, and I’m going to headcannon 19.
Baymax is, of course, ageless.
The End.

Yeah, we’re back on this again.
So I came to another revelation about the faculty late at night when I was suppose to be sleeping (and maybe writing).  I’ve previously talked about how Granville and Callaghan and their similarities/possible homages to both Nick Furys.  And on my last post, I talked about the white-haired woman possibly being Lily’s grandmother (as well as being the Night Nurse Linda Carter). That only leaves two people: the ones on the end.
The man on the right is dressed very similarly to Callaghan, almost eerily. (And again, it’s probably a reusing assets thing, but go with me on it.)
Similarly dressed, mustached man compared to the main guy in charge?  Where have I seen that before?
Tumblr media
And no, there’s no red hair, but this could be Mr. Timothy Dugan, AKA Dum Dum Dugan. For those of you who don’t know, Dum Dum Dugan fought in WWII along with Nick Fury, was best friends with him, and even served as second-in-command with him at S.H.I.E.L.D. until he was fatally injured and his consciousness was put into a Life Model Decoy. Long story. I know what you guys are thinking.  “Jason, this is another one of your lame, farfetched Marvel theories.  Dugan’s not going to be in Big Hero 6.”
Well, jokes on you.
Because he already is.
Tumblr media
T. Dugan is the Dean of Athletics at SFIT.  Reed Richards recruited Fred to be the mascot at the school, and he wrote directly to Dugan. I’ve mentioned him in The Straight And Arrow as retired when Callaghan was arrested, and he also wrote an athletics book that Granville keeps in the office.
So now that we have him out of the way...who is the last person?
Tumblr media
A long time ago, when I was brainstorming stories in Season 1, I saw her and thought “That’s Karmi’s mom.  It has to be.”
Tumblr media
Because we didn’t (and don’t, really) know anything about how Karmi came to be at SFIT, I imagined that having a parent who is in the mix would give her a leg up in the enrollment process.  Of course, this was also when I thought Karmi’s last name was not Khan.
Looking back at it, this woman is a lot darker than Karmi is.  Obviously, that doesn’t mean anything in the grand scheme of things, but I feel like if she was Karmi’s mom, that would be something that you’d think they would have had to address on the show. So...who is she? This is the part that has personally stumped me.  I did a look through the Marvel Wiki and nothing really seemed right to me.  The closest person that I think would make sense on a looks/power/attire/SFIT teacher level is someone that we all watched recently on Wandavision.
Tumblr media
And that’s Monica Rambeau. AKA Photon/Pulsar/one of the other Ms. Marvels. Maybe it’s the earrings.  I don’t know.
Would make sense to have someone who is gifted in the electromagnetic spectrum to be part of the faculty.  Students got to learn about it somehow. I wonder what other juicy tidbits are being hidden within the walls of SFIT...
