Losing my fucking mind over this passage. you're telling me, after physically and emotionally torturing him, tricking him into building a doomsday device, emotionally manipulating him for YEARS, and ruining his relationship with his only remaining friend, this is what Ford counts as "crossing a line"? This is Fords breaking point? After everything? It's been over a decade since he's seen Stanley. He has no reason or intention to contact him. After all this time, he's still angry at him. Honestly, the creator of Arcane insisting that he never intended to imply a romance between Viktor and Jayce and that their bond is brotherly or whatever makes that one scene from season 1 the most hilariously oblivious sequence in all of TV history. Like. "We decided that Mel and Jayce hooking up for the first time and Viktor collapsing at the lab would be parallel events and we'd show it by alternating between clips of each scene. Jayce would also leave Mel's bed immediately afterwards because they called him from the hospital. What do you mean that links Jayce's budding romance with another person to Viktor's worsening condition while establishing that Jayce still prioritises Viktor over Mel. What do you mean that implies romantic subtext between Viktor and Jayce. No, we didn't mean anything like that. We did it just because." Dude what. Lmao?

#there are more layers to that scene of course #if anything I'd argue that its main purpose is to highlight jayce's further entanglement with politics and leaving science aside #he's with mel (the politician who made him counselor) while viktor (his partner in his scientific pursuits) works at the lab alone #and thus their paths start to diverge until we get to the absolute mess of season 2 act 2 #but you see how that could've been conveyed with a different scene of jayce and mel right #like it didn't HAVE to be their first hook up #jayvik #arcane #jayce talis #viktor arcane #my original post #my commentary
