Action, drama, comedy, musical, romance, documentary, sci-fi, period pieces, crime, horror, thriller, mystery, etc. There’s nothing Tom Cruise can't do.
It's hard to understand why he hasn't won an Oscar, but he's already beyond the stage where he needs to prove himself with an Oscar. Instead, he has earned something far more valuable, the title of 'the last movie star in the world.' 👍

You know stuff's about to go down when the character played by Hiroyuki Sanada shows up for the finale with messy hair and a half-smile

(and very little sanity left in the case of the latter two)

These legends keep entertaining me in every role they're in, since The Last Samurai in 2003 till Shogun and Tokyo Vice in 2024!

here is the post where the future will see how absolutely UNDERRATED hiroyuki sanada is.
He should've been famous or at least as recognized like 10 or 20 years ago.
This man was in two marvel movies, one was in X Men with Hugh Jackman, and one in Endgame but his character was there to be killed by Hawkeye but still. Go sword fighting!!
He was also in Rush Hour(aka the most badass and iconic movie trilogy ever) with Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. Also in a movie w Brad Pitt (Bullet Train), in two movies w Keanu Reeves (47 Ronin, John Wick), ALSO w Tom Cruise (The Last Samurai and if I'm not mistaken there's one more but I forgot), he was also in a movie w Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds(Life).
He deserved all those roles, and he was in so so many big movies, yet he is still so underrated. Man is 60 years old, moving and swinging his sword faster than anyone his age, trust me I'm not even 20 and I'm having back pains just by standing for 30 minutes. A phenomenal actor, very handsome, amazing chemistry with all of the actors he works with, also very sweet and humble. No controversies or dramas.

Tom Cruise has an incredible ability to convey through his eyes what most people wouldn't be able to express in a thousand words.

Hiroyuki Sanada acted and learnt from the best when he was young.
with Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai) in Dokuganryū Masamune (1987)

with Sonny Chiba (Kill Bill) in Shogun's Samurai (1978)

Was watching Japanese classics Samurai films when I realized the young man look and sound familiar. Although he played supporting roles next to the main veteran actors, his vigor and charisma already stood out. He's come along way since then! Now he's the SHOGUN!
An example that hard work does pay off one day!
Another interesting trivia, Sonny Chiba, is the father of Mackenyu (Zoro in One Piece)!

Ever wondered about the meaning of this scene, just before the final battle?
Tumblr media
Originally, it was meant to be Ujio practicing with a sword. But Hiroyuki Sanada wanted the audiences to see the samurai as more than just warriors.
"In the US, when people think about the samurai, they think they are just warriors. (...) They fight like killing machines, but they also roll pipe leaves, they do tea ceremony, they dance."
So he choreographed a minute and a half of dancing and presented that to the director.
"It was supposed to be a dance to the gods, to myself, before death."
Never underestimate this man's ability to give more depth to any character he touches.
