Alright this sent me down a rabbit hole. I decided to do their condensed storyline up until now, Yuta POV, with some shippy angling. So this is broken into acts. No individuals links, i was too lazy. a/n: timmy at it again with her swiftie bf sae agenda ! this was so fun to write omg tbh idk where this came from but it came to me at 2am so that should say a lot ... this is once again a vv self indulgent piece 😭

"sae, i made a playlist they'll play when they make a movie adaptation about our relationship. do you wanna know what songs are in it?" 

"sure. even if i say no, you'll still tell me." sae huffed, sitting with his back on the couch as he loosely wraps an arm around your shoulders, making you lean on him.

"okay, for our first meeting. our meet cute. it's gotta be 'i like me better' by lauv. it's cute, gives off lara jean and peter kavinsky vibes. power couple just like you and i." sae hums along to you, finding your reasoning to be odd but whatever.

"next, our first date. wanna guess the song?" you looked up at him and for the first time in two hours (who are we even kidding? you're both dramatic) sae looks you in the eyes. "i don't know, you tell me." 

"two songs from beabadobee, 'glue song' or 'if you want to'. again, cute songs. would totally fit us." you use hand gestures a lot when you talk, sae thinks and he deems that an adorable trait you have. but he will never admit that to you. never. he twirls a strand of your hair on his finger, looping the threads in a circular motion. "how about a song they'll play when we have our first kiss?"

"i got one. 'lovers rock' by tv girl. our first kiss won't be just a kiss, you know. it'll be a full on make out scene. you, me, in a party, sneaking out to a bathroom just to make out." astonishment is visible on sae's face, features also hinting disbelief and amusement. as far as sae can remember, your first kiss was nothing like that. it was an awkward experience. cute, but awkward. at sixteen years old, sae kissed you under a streetlight as he walked you home after a date. it would've been a romantic scene if only the lamp hadn't decided to flicker on and off before completely shutting off, leaving you and sae standing in the dark. with that being said, sae definitely agrees to you fabricating the first kiss.

he leans towards your phone, peeking into your notes. "other songs?" 

"yeah, basically these are songs that make the cut even if they don't have a specific scene." you adjust your hold on the phone so both of you can see it without any difficulty. "look. we got 'hey lover' by the daughters of eve, 'lover' by taylor swift, 'without you' by lana del rey, which by the way you suit very well. i think of you everytime i hear it." sae lets a slight grin play on his face as he pictures you thinking of him just because of a song. 

"continuing on, there's 'the only exception' by paramore, 'late night talking' by harry styles, 'sweet nothing' by taylor swift, 'little things' by one direction, ooh! a classic! 'take on me' by a-ha, 'enchanted' by taylor swift again, 'watch you sleep' by girl in red because you know, i feel overwhelmed with joy knowing that you exist." sae could feel himself fall in love with you all over again. how is it that your words always get to him no matter what. your words linger in his head like lullabies that gets passed down from generations to generations. sae swears he's ready to pop the question right there and then when—

"oh last song, 'all too well, ten minutes version, taylor's version' by none other than taylor swift. how's that for a bomb movie soundtrack album, am i right?" you smiled at him, eyes twinkling with expectations for his opinion. meanwhile sae's lost in thought. did you really just say 'all too well'? and the ten minutes version, too? he must be dreaming, right?

sae stares at you, unmoving and expression serious. "did i do you anything wrong? or did i forgot an important event?" 

you blink confusedly at him. did he hit his head? 

"no. did you?"

"i'm asking you."

"forget it! just tell me what you think of the playlist?" you turned in his hold, dropping your phone to the side to circle your arms around his waist. sae's twirling with your hair again, only this time, he takes up small sections and braids them. "i like it. it's really cute. i like the part where we make out to 'lovers rock'. gotta be my favorite."

you beamed at his answer, immediately going off on a tangent about why you chose those songs. midway, sae cuts you off. 

"hey, why'd you add 'all too well'? isn't that a sad song?" 

"it's for dramatic effects! a movie would be too boring if there's too much cuteness." at your response, sae unknowingly releases a sigh of relief. inside, he knows he's done for the moment you start to relate him to 'all too well'. 

"come on, sweets."

"where are we going?"

"we're gonna rehearse the first kiss scene."

note : I am just a fan of Eurovision, no hate towards any of the songs, cuz it’s great to have them on this beautiful show!

5. Israel : sounds familiar already, has the potential to become a hit, still feels like Dua Lipa tho

Croatia : not sure, sounds heavy, the Croatian part is a bit late in the song but it is an edge

Greece : she’s only 18 years old, typical powerballad, hopefully she will hit those notes when performing live, still interesting

6. Italy : good set of guitars, something different than the other Eurovision stuff PLUS it is sung in Italian, hats off

Azerbaijan : instantly made me think about Netta - Toy (winner of 2018), also had the same height of voice, meh

Georgia : some calm melodies in between all that yelling, little too sweet for my liking but quite all right

Malta : Lizzo, is that you? weird saxophone thing, doesn’t really fit, but it’s okay for the rest

Bulgaria : Lily Allen??? It’s a good song, but I’m not sure whether she will deliver live - it makes or breaks a song. ALSO Malta and Bulgaria both had the ‘let’s show pictures of my youth’-card, hmm

4. Sweden : it gave me goosebumps, so it must mean something, it’s a good voice

1. Iceland : I love how funky it is, Dadi is so cool, plus the band is just his family and his mates, it’s great, I want a sweater too

North-Macedonia : Disney powerballad much? I don’t really understand what he sings (bad pronunciation), beautiful melody, no need for words

Latvia : I turned down the sound of my computer, it was a bit much, also she isn’t wearing pants, why? Also why does she sound so mad?

Poland : very sleek, but does he think he is Robin Thicke or something? Always those sunglasses, where are your eyes? Didn’t do anything for me

United Kingdom : he has a good voice and the song is quite cool too, not the ‘normal’ weird UK vibes

Estonia : I had time to check the comments, I think that says enough

7. Switzerland : cool song, could be really powerful live, if he hits all the notes

Russia : meh

Denmark : the outfit is a no from me, it fits him awkwardly, seems like a cheaper version of Olly Alexander (Years&Years) PLUS I don’t think he will hit his notes live (sorrynotsorry)

Austria : one of the two songs called ‘Amen’, I was able to fill in the gaps when he was adding weight to his sentences, so a bit predictable, but it had a nice undertone of organ there

Australia : Feels like Florence + The Machine merged into one person, surely people like the song, but I’m not a fan of it

Spain : he won’t make it to the final

Ukraine : weird voice and I don’t think this will be in the final either, the high tones hurt my ear a bit

Cyprus : feels like Sia? Also the clip seems material for an epileptic attack (oof harsh), don’t think this will make it

2. Portugal : Disney vibes are back, like their winner Salvador Sobral did in 2017. Voice sounds like James Morrison in every good way PLUS it is a good song

San Marino : why are the on a turning diamond shape? why? meh

Serbia : quite interesting that it is in their own language, but I’m not too sure if they will make it to the final

9. The Netherlands : different than anything else, not bothering me in the slightest

Moldova : looks like a wannabe Britney Spears, that’s a pity, also the song is a no from me sorry

Romania : she needs to cut her bangs, had a good message but yeah I don’t think that will give her a spot in the final

Belgium : like the comments said, Lana del Rey or Muse could do a very interesting cover of this, it’s different and I think this will be cool in the final

Albania : also sung in their own language in a typical powerballad-y way, not sure how this will do

Slovenia : the other ‘Amen’-song, there will be some definite rivalry between these cuz they sound similar, close call

Ireland : it’s an okay song, but not sure how this is the same country that won Eurovision 7 times already

3. Germany : weird clip but so nice and happy and cheer-up-y, the singer looks like PewDiePie, so that’s funny too, I watched the whole clip, so I liked it

Finland : it’s the metal/rock scene from Finland again that we are used to (remember the 2006 winners from Finland?) 

8. Norway : oh I love the outfit and cool song, could be used in a John Green film adaptation / Love Victor segment, also he resembles Drew Starkey (Rafe in Outer Banks)

Czech Republic : indifferent about it, but I don’t think this will be in the final

10. France : lovely voice and beautiful clip I just kept watching, could be used in a film drama

Lithuania : oh I don’t think he will go to the final, the height of the notes and the pressure of being on stage will kill him internally PLUS the song is called Discoteque, I want disco tunes man, but kudos for wearing those heels

I Forgot That You Existed

This song resonates with me so much. I feel like I never think about my ex and when I do I’m like wow I forgot about you. She literally took the words right out of my mind and the beat is so perfect for it because you want to be so happy when you remember something that you thought would hurt you but doesn’t 10/10

Cruel Summer 

HE LOOKS UP GRINNING LIKE A DEVIL oh my god I actually sob when she says that line because it just puts me in a mood I can’t explain. The first time I heard it I wasn't like totally on board with it but it grew on me so fast I want to sway fast in the living room and scream it at the top of my lungs 10/10

Lover 

my wedding song 10/10

The Man 

Holy shit Taylor you really did it didn’t you. This song could be your biggest hit and I’ll never stop bopping to it, it was the perfect time for this song. The deep voice she has in the song is everything we ever needed 10/10

The Archer 

I fully believe this is the most vulnerable song she has ever written, whether it be about how she feels about her relationship or even the way she sees herself we can all relate to it and how we have this sense of doubt in ourselves and if the other person can see it wow 10/10

I Think He Knows 

Catch me strutting down the hallway of my house to this song, gives me a little more of a sped up version of wildest dreams if that makes any sense at all and the chorus makes me feel like I’m dancing in 13 going on 30 or something with my friends or should be playing while I couch surf in Princess Diaries 2 i don’t even understand either 10/10

Miss Americana and The Heartbreak Prince 

So Lana Del Rey its insane like I just imagine the visuals on tour for this are going to be out of this world. I feel like I should be dancing to this song in the woods slowing leaning on trees and peeking out while I sing 10/10

Paper Rings

This reminds me so so so much of Kesha’s album Rainbow, specifically Let Em Talk and I absolutely love it. I get a really good 60s dancing vibe exactly like she does in the ME! video. If I get pulled over in the next few weeks it will be from my lack of dance moves in the car on my way home from work. But I will say when she says “you’re the one I want” all quiet near the end, do not ask me why but it reminds me of when John Mulaney says “I know you don’t drink” in his New In Town Stand up but for real this is THE hairbrush song 10/10

Cornelia Street 

I don’t think there are even words to fully explain how incredible of a song this is. wow. The way this song starts makes me feel like I’m going to be watching my favorite romcom that always makes me cry and believe that love actually exists. I am the most excited to hear this on tour. Its one I could see her floating across the stadium to while I sob, My roommate also thinks she should be saying “I never want Cornelia Street to end” and now thats all I sing too 100000/10

Death By A Thousand Cuts 

The beginning of this song reminds me of a horror film but i love horror films and thats how I knew I stanned this song before the lyrics even began. I felt that looking at the lyrics that I was going to be a slow sad song but I’m so glad its upbeat like AYHTDWS. it’s literally her older, wiser sister. I also love the pinball wizard type piano in the back. BRIDGE CITY BITCH BRIDGE BRIDGE CITY BITCH 13/10

London Boy 

If you don’t think every single picture I post next summer in London won’t be from this song you’re CRAZY. The best way to listen to this song would be with some heart sunglasses on, windows down, driving at night and I can’t tell you why, you just have to do it. It’s the most fun on this album and reminds me of how I felt about Gorgeous 10/10

Soon You’ll Get Better 

The absolute most personal song Taylor has ever released. This was something so hard for her to do but she also knows how many of her fans go through similar things and this allows them to feel a little closer to her and knowing they aren’t going through it all alone. It just makes me hold my loved one’s even closer every day 10/10

False God 

This song gives me such So It Goes vibes and I feel like its not going to get justice on tour just like she didn’t. It’s so different than a lot other other songs and I think it incorporates every type of pop song in one which is absolutely incredible to me. 10/10

You Need To Calm Down

This is my new Shake It Off. The way Shake It Off could automatically put me in a better mood, now YNTCD does it. This song opened up so many people’s eyes to the album and how it’s much more than the first single. Hearing this live at GMA did something to me and just made me so happy and I can’t believe I’ll get to hear it at tour. It just makes me so happy. 10/10

Afterglow 

I get really good, Bad Liar vibes from this. i think I say this because I don’t think I’ve heard a song like this in a long time and I was kind of confused of how no one thought of it before, just like how I felt when Selena released Bad Liar. This song is always stuck in my head and I hope it never leaves. 10/10

ME! 

Definitely a really good intro single for the album. I honestly don’t think any other song could’ve done well enough for the introduction of Lover tot he world than ME! It just is such a good self love song. It also gave us our lord and savior Benjamin Button 10/10

It’s Nice To Have A Friend 

This is the perfect song for a rainy day, sitting on the porch, watching people walk up and down the street. So simple yet delicate and can definitely put tears in my eyes. I really like that theres not a chorus or a change in the beat, the trumpets in the middle is so unique and makes me feel like its just a regular day in the life as taylor 10/10

Daylight

By far the best album closer. As if the other songs don’t scream that Taylor is happy and in love, this one does the most. The line that stuck with me the most is “I once believed love would be burning red but its golden” because she thought she was in love so many times and thought it was the real thing that would last because it was red to her. She saw the different color of love and how even though it wasn’t what she thought it would be, it was the real thing. I’m just so impressed with this album. Taylor always thought that she couldn’t write a song like Tenerife Sea and here we are with some of the most incredible, raw, heartwarming lyrics of any artist. She did it. 10/10

for my sanshine ☀

in honor of san's birthday, i decided to make a playlist of songs that reminded me of him! the full playlist can be found here, but on here, i just wanted to list a couple of specific songs and why they remind me so much of san!

▷   best part  /  h.e.r., ft. daniel caesar :  sometimes san can just exude this soft, soothing energy that reminds me of this song; he seems so steady and gentle and just so wonderfully soft that it makes my heart feel incredibly full. that's the same feeling this song gives me; it reminds me of the same things san does — his aesthetic, if you will — waking up early next to the love of your life, coffee, rainy days spent inside reading together.

▷   cherry  /  lana del rey :  this is how i feel about san a lot of times; he's dangerous (read: onstage), but that just makes him even more hauntingly beautiful, enough to make me fall to pieces and cry that he's ruined me.

▷   mikrokosmos  /  bts :  it's a very positive song with a poppy, energetic beat, and thus i find it really fitting for san, the hyper, energetic, positive mood-maker of ateez, who's almost always smiling that giant, dimply, infectious sunshine smile that earned him his lovable nickname among us atinies: sanshine. ☀

▷   sunflower ( from spider-man: into the spider-verse )  /  post malone, swae lee :  one of my favorite osts, sunflower reminds me of san both because of his nickname, "sanshine", and because it's a lightearted, poppy song with a — there's no other way to put this — swanky beat. it's also one of my personal cheer-up songs, often putting a smile on my face when i'm in a not-so-great mood, and that's what san tends to do when he's not being a demon onstage for me. his name's pretty accurate; despite how much i joke about him, he's a steady mountain of positivity for me when everything else seems to be against me.

▷   moonchild  /  rm :  this is also a song i listen to when i need reassurance; it reminds me of san because of how gentle and reassuring he is. in a lot of his twitter posts, whenever he posts pictures, he always captions it with something showcasing his love and concern for atiny. i still remember, earlier this month, i had a bad (read: terrible) day, and it felt like nothing would make it better; i didn't feel very motivated to get up, even to get dinner. then, i saw a translation of san's most recent tweet pop up on my dash — he'd captioned his cute pictures with a sweet little note telling atinies to take care of themselves and eat well. that definitely put a smile on my face all day; it made me feel like someone out there really did care, even though they didn't need to.

▷   but maybe  /  maddox :  pretty similarly to moonchild, this is one of my calmer reassurance songs, and a personal favorite. it reminds me of san for the same reason moonchild does; he's such a gentle, kind spirit, always showcasing his love and concern for atinies' health and happiness, and that fills me with the same calm gladness this song does.

▷   heartbeat ( bts world original soundtrack )  /  bts :  i'm honestly sure not to explain this one, but when i first heard it, it immediately reminded me of san. its lyrics about love and destiny just really gave off a very san vibe to me!

▷   intro: long journey  /  ateez :  i first thought hongjoong and san had done this together before i found out maddox had actually spoken the intro, but it still reminds me of san. it just seems like something he'd say; he's a very passionate person, and i know for a fact he could probably persuade me to wrangle a tiger with less than ten words. witness the power that is choi san.

▷   sun&moon  /  nct 127 :  san reminds atiny of the sun (hence "sanshine"), and a lot of my friends often tell me i remind them of the moon: bright but sometimes distant, and very, very reflective. i put this song in my playlist because this is a playlist to the sun, from the moon, and that makes me smile to myself. plus, the song's pretty accurate: he's on the other side of the world, so when i smile at the moon, he's probably smiling at a sunny sky.

▷   lost in thoughts all alone* ( fire emblem: fates original soundtrack )  /  matthew mercer :  it's a very soft, reflective song, and that's why it reminds me of san. once you put all jokes and hyperactivity aside, he's a very thoughtful soul, and i feel like it would be easy to have a deep conversation with him.

▷   bombshell blonde**  /  owl city :  this song is a really fun one, and it reminds me of san because of his flair for flirtation, especially onstage. let's admit it, he can be quite the flirt onstage, and it can be pretty damn lethal. the song reminds me of him because it's suave and pretty seductive, treating love as a james bond-type spy game. it's just a very flirty and playful song, reminding me of how san can get sometimes.

Lover album first listen thoughts

As with reputation, I’m probably going to listen to this album in full day of release, one month in, two months in, three months in, six months and a year in to see how my feelings change over time. With that in mind, these are my first listen thoughts: 

I Forgot That You Existed: This gave me such Kate-Miller Heidke vibes and I want to cry because I know they will never collab. Like honestly though, go check out Kate’s stuff if this was your favourite because you will not be disappointed. It also feels like Bad Blood’s older, wiser sister. The laugh hit hard because that moment when you realise that someone who made your life hell no longer rules it is incredible and that laugh is the best way I’ve seen that represented.

Cruel Summer: The production for this song was exactly what I was expecting. I imagine it will work well on tour, but it’s not my favourite at this point. However I will say that the bridge is my favourite part of the song for now.

Lover: This song has been a grower for me. As much as Cruel Summer wasn’t my favourite, Lover coming off it feels right. Lover is a warm song that gives me Summer Nighttime feels and makes me miss being in a relationship. It also makes me want to learn how to properly ballroom/waltz dance. Again, the bridge is still my favourite part of the song.

The Man: Literally the first two things I wrote about this was “YAAS Bop!” and “MOOD!!!” so that pretty much sums up my feelings on it. I love the “Eeey!” moments and just in general, it was one of my favourites from the album. I also think it was the perfect choice to put before The Archer but find it interesting that it came right after Lover.

The Archer: The only fault I will give this song is that I feel like it only gives its strongest punch when you’re in a specific mood. Like in those moments, it seems the perfect song, but otherwise, I can see myself and have already been like “It’s a good song” and left it with that. Again though, it comes off The Man perfectly as a contrast piece.

I Think He Knows: This was definitely a far boppier production than I expected when I saw the title of this song, but it works. It’s another good song for tour and for once, the bridge is my least favourite part of the song. All up, it’s a good song, but not a favourite. I will say that “Boy, I understand” had me saying damn though.

Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince: I love the production of this song. It gives movie plot/soundtrack vibes with the way it builds up and changes in the bridge. It also gives Lana Del Rey vibes. My only complaint with this song is how much I love the lyric “Boys will be boys, where are the wise men?” because I wish she had done a full song based on that.

Paper Rings: Again, this was not the production I expected for this song. It definitely is a feel good bop that I could see in teen movies and cute though.

Cornelia Street: The production was exactly what I imagined and quite frankly this was an automatic fave for me. That’s really all I’ve got to say about it.

Death By A Thousand Cuts: When the secret sessioners said this was the most emotional song for Taylor, this was not the production I expected. I kinda wish it was a piano ballad if I’m honest because I do feel the production overpowers the emotion of the lyrics.

London Boy: The speaking at the start felt awkward to me. All up it was a cute, okay song though.

Soon You Will Get Better: I’m glad we got one slow, acoustic song on this album to be honest. I really don’t know how this wasn’t the most emotional for Taylor though considering it was the one time I almost cried throughout the album. Basically this song hit a little too hard considering my mum’s current mental issues and how she has said that she doesn’t plan to get better and plans to be dead in the next decade. But alas, it’s still probably going to be one of the ones I listen to most on this album though.

False God: Interesting start + production. I was also shocked that the New York line we got came from this song. Basically this song was not was I was expecting at all. Right now, it’s not a favourite.

You Need To Calm Down: Still a bop and still a favourite. Not much else needs to be said.

Afterglow: Why did the first like 3 notes of this remind me of The Weeknd? Anyway, definitely had some “Learn to apologise” Elle interview tea here. In some ways, it feels like the verses from ME!’s older, wiser sister. It’s probably one I will listen to a lot.

ME!: Still my least favourite from the album and probably the one I’m gonna skip the most. Also though, apparently spelling is not fun anymore? I will say though that it comes off Afterglow really well and that even though I like the solo version more, I do like Brendon and Taylor’s voices on it so I hope they work on something I like in the future.

It’s Nice To Have A Friend: This feels more like an interlude to me and hence feels it should have been earlier. As such, the production wasn’t what I was expecting. It was sweet, but realistically I don’t know how much I’m going to listen to it in the future.

Daylight: This was definitely more synthy than I expected. At the beginning of the song, I felt like this could have worked equally well as an opener to the album, but as the production built up, it definitely gave me more closer vibes. I love the closing statement and this whole song is a recovery mood.

All up this album was a good one. As of right now, I’d probably place it as a tied third place with Fearless and behind RED and reputation in my Taylor Swift album rankings.

babe / there’s something wretched about this / something so precious about this / where to begin? / babe / there’s something broken about this / but i might be hoping about this / oh, what a sin  ( the more she learns about him the more she realizes there might be something wretched and broken about them, but something precious she needs. plus the religious horniness of every hozier song these two fucked in a church ok ) 

bare bones | rainbow kitten surprise 

where are the scars of your failed hearts? / have your daydreams been keeping you clean? (no) / you never say what you need to make me believe you’re the one that means it  ( vibes again, but also marisol hopes to god he isn’t the one who lets her down, and that he will let her in )
