The Kwisatz Haderach. A super being. A uniter of worlds.

Eurydice raises her eyes. There is opposition within them, raised and challenging. “When I was first born, you stood over my cradle and told my mother she nearly cost the Kwisatz Haderach.” The Reverend Mother turns to look at Isolde, whose brow arches. They exchange a sort of knowing look, then face her again. “I knew you were listening, just as I know you have not spoken of this to your mother, to your brother, nor even your Sisters. You have been wise, in this regard,” the Reverend Mother appraises. “The Kwisatz Haderach is what we have been planning and laying forth our hardened labors into for generations. Your mother nearly cost us everything by birthing a son, until you admonished her from her very womb.” I wanted to live. I wanted to experience a world of air, light, and existence. Perhaps I wanted this, too. I can’t say…but now here it is, before me. “My mother was always meant to have a girl, then. Me,” she says, feeling her chest clench. “And I…” “A boy. The pattern ends with you beside Feyd-Rautha, in a matrimony that will unite your Houses into an era of peace, and restore balance to the Imperium. The Kwisatz Haderach will be yours to bear.” “How much does Feyd-Rautha know of this?” “None of it. There are few who know of the bloodlines we have painstakingly orchestrated, as well as your betrothal to the na-Baron. All those who need to be informed are aware,” the Reverend Mother says. “When the time is right, you shall be presented to the na-Baron as his willing bride.”

regarding Dune Part 2: i am obsessed with its consistent visual theme of self-destruction. the shot of paul surrounded by his new followers seems triumphant - until the viewer remembers that each crysknife is made from a tooth of shai-hulud, and paul is standing in a circle of them, in the allegorical mouth of the worm. he orders a missile strike, and the viewer sees them fly directly through his head. every victory for the prophecy is a blow to paul himself; he's killing himself with every step he takes towards his destiny, and we know that already, and the film is screaming it, but it's a hell of a thing to watch it happen, isn't it?..

frank herbert may have been too 1960s straight dude to see the potential of a bene gesserit-induced omegaverse breeding programme but now we have the technology. we can do it. as a treat.

Paul, looking out in horror at the Harkonnens massacring Sietch Tabr, saying "I didn't see this coming" (I should've/could've seen this coming). Paul, having a vision of Chani dead in his arms. Paul, having a vision of a djinn Jamis telling him to drink the Water of Life so he can see the future. Paul, after months of being terrified of what the prophecy will do to him, willingly going into it so he can See. So he will be able to See the future and protect the people he loves. Paul, succumbing himself to monstrosity, in the end.

my roman empire is knowing that people who never read dune but watched the movies actually think that Jessica had a son so she could birth the Kwisatz Haderach when in the book she actually just had a son cause Leto wanted a son (both her and the Reverend Mother confirm this in actual spoken words) and she doesn't even think/believe he could be the Kwisatz Haderach until the tent scene after the attack on Arrakeen she genuinely just loved Leto and wanted to protect her family and because of the movies people think she's some power hungry witch who wanted to birth the Kwisatz Haderach (I have gotten so many comments actually calling her this and similar things)
