*in a singing tone* Oh, y'all!~ here's some arts now!~ =^///w///^= *drops a bucket of some of my new arts from yesterday and today*

The first three drawings are some doodle sketches of the humanized jungle bunch that ah drew last night but sorta forgot to post... -w-;
and ah kinda redesigned Natacha's, Tony's, Goliath's, and Batricia's humanized designs a bit, and I'll even add Camelia and Albert tommorow =^w^=
Oh! And ah even drew Youri's humanized design at history class today, and he's from the second jungle bunch movie called "The jungle bunch: operation meltdown" movie btw =^.^= 🦩🧡 (ah know he isn't a flamingo, but there ain't a vulture emoji -///-;)
And the fourth picture are doodles of Wilt (fhfif), Maggie pesky (Buzz on Maggie), and Kyle (fanboy and Chun chum) since ah wanted to draw 'em, and I even had fun drawing 'em three =^w^=
And btw, my phone now charged again a bit, but ah still gotta change the charger... -_-;

Veritas Stadium
Chapter 2: Garden Warfare
This week in the Lich Queen Saga (my title for this connected series of campaigns), the party of fighters take most of a day break to explore Veritas University Campus. While out and about, they run into the Chancellor, Otto Anderson. He highlights to the party that the council of the games have spotted some suspicious characters in the crowd at the stadium and want to know what their up to.
He introduces the party to Doctors Harpies and Music, fellow professors who helped shape Otto's magic into the stadium's protective magic. It was Music who spotted these miscreants, and Harpies may know where they're hiding out. The party are taken to the school library where they find a secret passage leading into a chamber under the university. Somewhere along the dark passages, they are separated from Dr Harpies, and end up trapped in a pentagon shaped series of rooms. Almost like a magic circle.
The party eventually figure out that the solution is use different types of damage, magical and physical, to activate a bunch of orbs. Very soon, all the lights are lit, and then... darkness. The party find themselves magically back in the library, and Dr Music says they're due very soon for their next battle in the stadium, the investigation can wait.
Their battle is against a team of jungle explorers and their monster companions called The Gardeners. Notable among them are Naashrar, a lizardfolk Archdruid, and Aech, a Goliath Ranger who the other party met near Castle de Sangre Dios.
The mostly plays out in standard fashion, our heroes having the upperhand for the most part. They quickly take down the Grung, and Aech's Tyrannosaurus companion, but Aech beats Norm unconcious. Thankfully Thaldin revives Norm before the stadium's magic takes him out of action. But as more of the opponent's party are defeated, the magic saving them from death starts to weaken and slow down. Finally the heroes have Naashrar alone, and one final strike saps the last of his strength.
But something is wrong, Naashrar continues to lay there, unmoving, the magic isn't rescuing him.... the crowd gasps as they realise what has happened, Naashrar actually died! This is one thing that is NOT supposed to happen in Veritas Stadium!
Security immediately rush onto the scene and restrain the party. Ubo asks them, what happened, and tells them something they did at the university must've wrapped them up in this mess. The party are promptly taken into custody, awaiting to hear the truth of what led to this tragedy,

This time on weird RWBY dreams:
• alright so I think this was supposed to be the volume 8 finale but honestly that means nothing
• do the bad guys still had Oscar and they were leading this giant group of Grimm through a jungle, lead by a large group of Goliaths that they were aiming to stampede through a city or something
• Oscar was on the back of one of the goliaths when all of a sudden Qrow drops from the sky in bird form, steals Ozpin’s cane from some random evil guy, and then threw Oscar off the Goliath backwards
• where rwby and crew were with their own Goliath? Don’t ask me how they were able to get their own cause idk
• and they started stampeding the Grimm with hopes of it being a distraction I think
• and both Sun and Taiyang were there - I guess they teamed up on their way to rwby
• Sun was like really OP but it was great
• Taiyang’s semblance was this ability to like charge objects so that they can fling people? Like Sun was standing on this platform and Taiyang charged in and Sun was projected like way far ahead
• apparently Blake and Sun had a team attack but for some reason it was called “Jackson Midnight” and I have absolutely no idea why
•eventually they made it to like this abandoned office building where a bunch of the good guys had collected to fight Salem
• team SSSN was all there and Neptune was pretty normal but for some reason Sage and Scarlet were being all secretive
• like there were tunnels under the office building that they knew how to navigate and they led to this secret chamber but I’m not sure what was actually there
• and I remember they included two other people in their schemes and one of them was named Ingrid and they looked suspiciously like Scarlet
• Scarlet’s semblance allowed him to climb on walls like a lizard (even though I think he already has a confirmed semblance in the show? Idk)
• Sage had a semblance too but I don’t remember exactly what it was, I think it was some sort of speed or telekinesis that allowed him to travel fast
• and then as usual my dream went off the rails and the whole good guy hideout turned into like a beach house but we were also at college? Idk man the setting changes like every five minutes
• and I was a character in the dream now but I had the knowledge of all the dream prior so I went to Sun and I was like “hey your teammates are doing some sketchy shit”
• and I tried to remember their route through the tunnels but I ended up leading us into the city where we happened upon this big building
• and I had a different team with me at this point except we were waiting for Sage to show up? Again my dreams just do what they want
• and we started to traverse this building and we kept finding clues to a murder or something? And the clues led us to this big open room where we got roped into solving this giant game puzzle but it made absolutely no sense
• and tbh in my dreams lately I’ve been having very heightened emotions so I started like panicking because I couldn’t figure out this puzzle
• and then I woke up, dazed and confused
#I’ve had some fucked up dreams lately let me tell you#this was the only rwby related one though#rwby#my post

your blog has influenced me to watch like all of the seasons of survivor bc i really want to understand what you're talking about
Oh wow, that’s awesome! Survivor is one of my all time favorite shows. It’s on, like. A whole other level. It’s literally like watching a game of chess but turned up to ten. Deceit, lies, friendship, love, self-doubt, self-acceptance, backstabbing and blindsiding, all set in an uninhabited jungle— it’s the whole package.
If you have Amazon prime, a bunch of seasons are available on Prime video. Another alternative would be CBS All Access.
I would suggest season 37, David vs Goliath if you’ve never seen Survivor before. (It isn’t available on Prime for free, but you could easily watch it on Prime with a CBS All Access 30 day free trial). It has a great cast, great editing and great gameplay; it will give you a more than decent idea of what “new” Survivor is.
A good look at “old” Survivor is Season 7, Survivor: Pearl Islands (available for free with CBS all access free trial). This is one of my favorite seasons. It’s considered iconic in the span of Survivor history. Great cast, dirty gameplay and a satisfying conclusion.
((A quick warning of sorts, but I’ve found the first episode of a season to not be a great gauge on how the rest of the season pans out. People are introducing themselves and shelters are being built and they’re still all friendly; you have to give them an episode or two to show their true, vicious colors!))
I’m excited for you! You’re gonna have so much fun watching it for the first time :) I’m always here if you wanna talk Survivor!
#ask#anon#im assuming you have a way to get a cbs all access free trial#but if that is not the case totally send me another ask and i can point you in the direction of seasons free on regular prime

A dream game of mine
These are the ideas I often come up with for a dream game, and it just combines so many elements from different things I've played or watched videos of into one huge and crazy thing that would be amazing to see and play. It's pretty much a pipe dream in this lifetime of mine but I can't help but imagine it. So without anymore stalling, here's all my ramblings about it.
I would just really love a game like Skyrim is, but just... more. Like Skyrim has a bunch of the adventure/exploration elements I love in a game, but I didn't think it had enough diversity in scenery and it all felt cold because of the part of the world it was set in.
I would love a game that was like Elder Scrolls Online in size with all the different provinces you can go to with all that land to explore between the snowy areas, desert areas, and forest/jungle areas and all the settlements that would be scattered throughout. And all the scenery in that game was beautiful to me. And along with that, add the crafting/blacksmithing stuff from ESO too, because that was the main thing I did when I played the game. I created everything I used from different swords and armor.
And speaking of swords and armor, I'd love the game to have what ESO does, which was have there be different styles of weapons and armor you can craft after you read the plans or whatever for it. Like a steel sword can be one style, or you can craft it in another style but it would have the same stats, just a different look. Same with armor too. Or a greatsword could be more on the skinny side, or you could make it be a massive weapon like what the Buster Sword is.
Whatever weapons you favorite will be visible on your character and you can choose where you want something specifically placed. For example, a Ranger could have their bow across their chest and back and their quiver of arrows at their back either behind either shoulder or at their waist, or on their thigh while they have a dagger on one hip and a sword on the other. You can't have too many weapons on your body though. There would be a weapon wheel you can bring up that lets you choose between what weapons you have favorited.
The weapons and armor would be highly customizable too. Like with armor, you could mix and match different pieces or furs to make something unique to you, and for weapons you could add different accessories to them like jeweled hilts or carved bow shafts.
As for the exploration, I think it would be a phenomenal thing to focus on in a fantasy game. With so many environments like what I mentioned above with forests to snowy areas, there can be some absolute magic to be discovered like beautiful lakes or ponds, or something like my Heaven's Clearing area I created in my RWBY AU. Mountainous areas with waterfalls cascading down the rocks? Giant trees in a gorgeously lush forest with a treehouse village? A snowy village deep within the mountains? An ancient and run down fortress in a canyon with only one small valley to access it? Sprawling cave systems in the mountains? Tropical beaches? A beautiful oasis hidden in the middle of a vast desert? Explore and you can find stuff like this and more.
Examples of the sights you could see. I don't know the artists sadly. I found these all on Reddit at r/imaginarylandscapes)

And if and when you find this stuff? Build there if you want! It could be like Fallout 76 with the C.A.M.P. thing, but you have such an extreme amount of freedom to build kind of like in Minecraft, and have the building be like a mix between Minecraft, 7 Days to Die, and Ark. Build what you want from a nice, cozy little cabin in the woods, or a big estate on the mountainside with the waterfalls going under the house. Make it as big and as grand, or as small and as cozy as you want it to be with loads of decoration stuff you can build, and with different variations to the decorations. Different styles of beds, candles, wardrobes, chests, doors, windows, whatever. Just give unmatched variety. And of course for all of them, you would have to go out and find the materials, like for a simple cabin you would have to go out and either buy the lumber, or cut it down yourself. Or if you want to just dig into the side of a hill or mountain and mold your home from there, you absolutely can, given you have the equipment to dig it all out. Or you could just be a nomad and camp around anywhere you wanted while you travel and not be held down to one place.
Character customization would let you be able to make the character you want for a fantasy game like this is in my imagination. Loads of different hairstyles, body types, eye/hair/skin colors, customize your height to be the size of a Goliath (in D&D) or a gnome and so on. Pick from a variety of races from human, different races of elves, dwarves, halflings gnomes, goliaths, orcs and tabaxis', mix races, and more. And in game, you can really pick any type of clothing/armor style you want from even more choices. And along with that, you can of course pick different classes for your character to be from a fighter/warrior, to a ranger, to a magic user, to a bard, or whatever. You pick your skills from a huge list of stuff for each class and you go around and do what you want to do as that character. And like with Dragon's Dogma (one of my favorite games), you can change your class instead of being tied into one class at really any point in the game that you felt like. And you can multiclass too and combine any two classes you want to try.
Magic in the game would be more... magical. Like you start out with basic spells if you're one of the magic using classes with sorcerers getting a bit more, but it all starts out as just looking very dull. And when you train and level up your magical abilities and find new spells out of the huge selection of them in the game, the magic gets more and more bright, vivid, colorful, vibrant, and flashy too so you can actually see the results of all the levels you poured into your magic.
It wouldn't just be exploration though, considering weapons, armor, and magic would be in the game. There would be so many different jobs and ways to make gold to choose from, and there would be multiple long running quests you could accept that would be like something from D&D. And a thing for that is that the game can either be single player and you can pick a party of NPCs to join you through your adventures, or you could switch it over to multiplayer and invite a few of your friends in to explore the world together or do these quests and split the rewards from both the journey itself and the reward for completing the quests. The questscan have different styles, like serious ones and some where there can be some fun, like a Borderlands mission.
And as something in between these quests, you could have different jobs you can choose from like I mentioned. You can start your own mine or lumber yard to sell ores, precious gems, or wood to anyone (NPC or player) that wants/needs it. You can do guard duty for someone, you could scout an area out for any dangers for someone wanting to build a house or for military, or chart out unknown parts of the world and draw a map of it (provided you take a cartography skill) and sell them to people. You could even just be a simple hunter and hunt game to provide meat and pelts for yourself and for trade. Or be a bard and make some music between more somber songs or uplifting ones, or ones where you just tell the tales of events that have happened in the game. And for that, the game would have a huge score of music. And there would be bounty hunting quests as well, and sometimes they can lead into something more.
You have the choice between if you want to be a combat focused character or a trader/craftsman focused character or something along those lines. In single player, you could hire an NPC bodyguard and they would be extremely competent (unlike the referees in WWE games :p) in battles in order to protect you. Or in multiplayer, your friends could provide your protection while you create trade routes or gather materials, or explore the world for treasures. And it could be the other way around with you being the bodyguard and your friend being the one you're protecting too.
Choose your own backstory from a huge list of options. You could have a backstory as a simple farmer, a guard, a soldier, a trader, a blacksmith, a mercenary, or a craftsman to name a few. Each backstory comes with a specific set of gear depending on the backstory and an area of the world you start out with and in. Like a mercenary would start with light armor and a battle axe, having just completed a job in the colder regions so you would have fur cloaks and armor or you could have just completed a job in a more tropical spot of the world.
And romance too! You could have your character romance any NPC in the game no matter if they're male or female, unless they're already married. Or if you want to do a bit more, romance them both! Start a family with them, and hire bodyguards to protect them while you're out adventuring, if your spouse doesn't have any combat skills of course. Or hire bodyguards anyway to secure your childrens' safety.
See a dog you want to adopt? Adopt it! Same with cats or any other animal you might see up for adoption or for sale from somewhere. Each province have different kinds of pets you can get, so traveling the world for your perfect hunting/travel buddy or housemate may be something to do. And you can name your pet too. Or you could even capture and tame a wolf or tiger or something in the wild too if you wanted. Also, you can pet your pets. Give them attention!
For travel, you could either carry the bare essentials on your character and just walk either alone or with a companion by your side, or you could save your gold for a horse or go tame a wild one to ride through the world. And on top of that, you can buy different types of wagons to carry all the things you need to set up a larger camp for yourself or for your companions. Larger wagons mean the need for an extra horse. And you can also buy or craft accessories for your horse and wagons, like different saddles or canopies respectively.
And also for travel across the seas, you can either pay for passage on a ship or save up gold to buy your own and hire your own crew to go on voyages. Along with that, one thing you could do is become a pirate if you chose to in case you didn't want to just spend your days on land, or become a trade vessel to transport goods from place to place, or you could even just have it become a passenger ship and take gold to take people across the sea. Search for buried treasure and pillage other ships as a pirate, or discover an island to claim for yourself and your friends.
One thing that would be in the game would be hunting, from small game all the way up to dragons. The hunting is something I enjoy so much in Red Dead Online that I would love to see it in a game like this with so many animals and creatures. Of course there would be stuff like boars, deer, bears, and animals like that but there would also be fantasy creatures to try to hunt, and the biggest, baddest, most difficult, and most rewarding would be dragons if you chose to hunt them. But you could just stick to hunting normal animals too, because that can be very rewarding in its own way like with what I said before about hunting. And of course, you could go fishing at one of the many rivers, streams, ponds, or lakes in the game too.
There would be two separate modes you could do between a more casual experience or something more hardcore. The casual mode would be that you don't have to worry about eating, drinking, sleeping, or worrying about temperature to survive while the survival mode would include all those things, plus the need to watch out for poisons, venom, or diseases or anything like that so players can enjoy the game how they want to enjoy it.
One thing about the game is that there is single player and multiplayer of course, but the multiplayer would have private servers and public ones for if you only wanted to play with friends, or if you wanted to take it online and interact with a bunch of other players. And on top of that, there would be separate servers for players who only want to have a peaceful time with other players where they can't attack each other at all, and servers where PvP is fully on for the players that want the danger of dealing with other players that want to take them out so there aren't those types of people in the same servers. Choose your server, choose your experience.
Another thing that would be a part of the game is full, unrestricted mod support. Create mods for the game to craft it into something truly special either with different weapons, armors, spells, quests, races, or anything. Download any mod you want at your discretion, no matter what it is. And the mod support would span all platforms the game is on with absolutely no restrictions regardless of platform or the content of the mods.
To make the game even more special, you can create a new character at any time you want, and your previous character will still be wondering the world while you're starting anew. And if you end up finding your other character, you can form a team with them and easily switch back and forth between the two. That would make it possible to create your own adventuring party rather than hire NPCs or relying on your friends. Or, you can just have your characters be completely separate. And if you wanted to, you could possibly romance your own characters if you can't find the right NPC in the huge world.
The hud would be something very simple, with a health and energy/mana meter, a mini map, and radar. Each thing here can be toggled on or off so you could just have your health and energy/mana showing while turning off the radar and map, or you could have it all be turned off to have nothing on your screen for a more immersive experience. You can switch between third and first person to increase that even more.
Basically what I want is some huge fantasy exploration/adventure/action/RPG, something so huge with so many things to do that it has such an immense amount of playability and replayability. Something set in an hugely detailed and gorgeous world with multiple large provinces/climates/biomes. It would take an insane amount of time to try to explore every little part of the world, along with completing all the quests. And there would never really be a shortage of quests because they would keep being added every once in a while to the game through free updates, along with the ones added through mods.
That's all I have to share about this huge, crazy, borderline impossible dream game of mine right now. I might add more to it if/when I think of more. I hope you all enjoyed the read if you decided to read it. I'd love to hear what you guys think, and I'd love to hear your own ideas if you have them.

Sonic Villains: Sweet or Shite? - Part 7: METAL SONIC
It's been a while, but it's time for another Crusher review and analysis.
There are some villains I like. And there are some villains I don't like. But why do I feel about them the way I do? That's where this comes in.
This is a series of mine in which I go into slightly more detail about my thoughts on the villains in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, and why I think they either work well, or fall flat (or somewhere in-between). I'll be giving my stance on their designs, their personalities, and what they had to show for themselves in the game(s) they featured in. Keep in mind that these are just my own personal thoughts. Whether you agree or disagree, feel free to share your own thoughts and opinions! I don't bite. :>
Anyhow, for today's installment, we'll be putting the Stardust Speedway saxophones aside for a moment to discuss Dr. Eggman's notorious robotic copycat, who desperately wants to show us what he's made of: Metal Sonic.
NOTE: While I will be taking several of Metal Sonic's non-game portrayals into account, this will NOT include his Sonic the Comic incarnation, as I feel that Fleetway's Metal - or Metallix, as he's called - is so vastly different in so many ways that I feel there's no point, whereas his other portrayals in non-game media are considerably more consistent for the most part.
The Gist: Being a criminal mastermind slash world conquerer in the making has its shortcomings, and for Dr. Eggman/Dr. Robotnik/The Bad Guy, that shortcoming came in the form of a plush-sized hedgehog who frequently wrecked his machines, foiled his plans, and - worst of all - talked back at him. This literal thorn on his side made the good doctor a very unhappy camper, but one day, his brilliant brain brought a brilliant breakthrough: Why not pit Sonic against himself?
During his then-new scheme to use the Time Stones of the Little Planet to conquer the world through time, Eggman worked tirelessly on his new idea to ensure it was just right. It couldn't be too slow. It couldn't be too bulky. It couldn't be too un-Sonic-like, for he vowed to assert his technological dominance by making a better Sonic than the real one. He wanted this to be his greatest creation yet, and he wasn't going to half-ass that objective.
The result was Metal Sonic, a marvel of industrial automation who established himself as fast as Sonic, as deadly as Sonic, and... not talkative, unlike Sonic. No wonder Eggman declared him the superior of the two.
Eggman loves his creation so much that he’s willing to let him die if this goes wrong. That’s how you know he’s his favourite.
Sure enough, Eggman's efforts were not entirely in vain, as the blue droid was more than a match for Sonic in the speed department, as well as the "What's the best way to make it clear to Amy Rose that I'm not interested?" department via snatching up Sonic's pink hedgehog acquaintance, leaving her as the doctor's captive. Unfortunately however, despite giving Sonic the race of his life, Metal was not yet as quick in his reflexes as the genuine article was, meaning his initial reign of terror came to an abrupt end when he flew head-first into a wall, George of the Jungle-style. Eggman was devastated, except he wasn't, because he knew he could just rebuild and upgrade him. Which he did. Constantly.
He also rebuilt these guys for some reason.
Since his debut in Sonic CD, Metal has went on to appear in a sizable number of games throughout the years, and he's made some personal appearances in a few other continuities as well. Most of these appearances simply have him show up, attack Sonic and other heroes for a bit, then get his ass handed to him. Some of those ass-kickings even came with a tasty amount of hue hues. But every now and then, they'll have him do something more, the most famous example being Sonic Heroes, in which he took over Eggman's army by force and went on his own little crusade to gain everyone's data and become Metal GodJesus, all the while proving himself the real Sonic the Hedgehog... by doing a lot of things the real Sonic the Hedgehog would never do. (This general concept would reappear in the IDW comics, though he did not betray Eggman that time around.)
Overall though, Metal is generally considered to be a welcome face whenever he makes an appearance... when he’s not dreaded for being the biggest roadblock in Fighters.
“Well that’s the end of the playthrough, make sure to like, comment, subscribe.”
The Design: What is there to say about Metal Sonic’s design? It’s cool, it’s ominous, it’s sleek, it’s stylish, and it holds a palpable aura of dangerous badassitude while still fitting perfectly with the design philosophy of this franchise. Truly, Metal’s design alone makes him one of the all-time greats of the Eggman repertoire, and it's easy to see why the scientist is particularly proud of this one.
He’s the robot your robot could crash into a wall like.
He’s had a few transformations over the years though. In Knuckles Chaotix, he turned into a ginormous monstrosity commonly referred to by fans as Metal Sonic Kai, who terrified many juniors back in the day due to making the inexcusable error of not being blue. The bad ending might have also affected them.
E for Everyone.
Luckily, Classic Metal got the right idea two decades later, and kept his blue colour scheme when the Phantom Ruby brought the form back in Sonic Mania Plus. As for Modern Metal, he had a brief life (or lives, if you count IDW) as Neo Metal Sonic, who - despite being made with the intention to be a darker, cooler, more serious iteration of the character - went the complete opposite direction by looking less like a frightening metal monarch, and more like a shonen anime’s midnight seizure.
Look at this fucking thing.
Elf shoes. Ripped skirt. Starfish haircut. Vaguely phallic strap in the appropriate area. Regular Metal may have a semi-cutesy look even in his more dangerous iterations, but at least he doesn't come off as a compensating son who doesn't quite know how to come out to his judgemental father, which is more than I can say for whatever the hell this is supposed to be. Is this really meant to be a more intimidating design? A more badass design...?
Then, as if this wasn’t ridiculous enough for Metal already, they had him transform even further into MechaGodzilla Metal Overlord, a goliath made from the remains of the Egg Fleet, with a side order of spikes and artist’s regret.
"Sonic, I was created for the sole purpose of destroying you... but I can never seem to defeat you... That is why I purchased Freddie Mercury's wardrobe with my own hands!"
Said form also returned in the IDW comic, rechristened Master Overlord, who traded the clawed wings and the flamethrower in exchange for symmetrical hands and a more simplistic body structure, at the expense of looking even more like a children’s toy.
Needless to say, Metal's had some... interesting transformations over the years. But his original look will always remain iconic, and rightly so.
The Personality: Metal Sonic's personality is harder to specify compared to other characters in the series, because his kill-first ask-later demeanour in tandem with his usual muteness means we see him most of the time as little more than a Sonic-shaped extension of Eggman's will. That said however, there have been deeper glimpses here and there into what makes his mechanical mind tick.
The most obvious thing to note is that Metal holds the very un-Sonic trait of not having time for nonsense. Sure, he might not be above taunting his organic counterpart in a likeminded way occasionally, but that aside, he's generally a pretty serious and humorless individual, a stark contrast to his creator and master that nonetheless works in the latter's favor, as the realisation that the goofy manchild Eggman of all people made this thing helps shoot down the myth that the rotund madman is all talk.
"He's behind you!" "Shut it wee man, this is a serious play."
Then there's his insanity, by means of identity crisis. It's not known if this was something that was there from the beginning, or if it's somethng that developed and worsened with each defeat, but at some point in his life, Metal convinced himself that despite literally being made with the intention of exterminating the actual Sonic, he himself was in fact the actual Sonic, and that the actual actual Sonic that already existed prior to his inception was in fact the actual Not-Sonic (or a faker, as would be used to describe a certain other lookalike). This belief has caused him to do a bunch of crazy stuff of dubious logic, and don't try to question him on his reasoning, lest you want him to cut you open like a Terry's Chocolate Orange.
His relationship with Eggman is something of an enigma. While his teenage phase betrayal in Heroes is probably the most mainstream evidence of how he feels about his master, it's easy to forget that this was the exception, not the rule. In nearly every other appearance before and since then, Metal has shown nothing but stone cold loyalty towards the doctor and his cause. Even in IDW, when he regained his Neo form and basically did everything he could to remind everyone that Heroes was a thing that existed, he did it that time around for the purpose of finding his master, and helping to restore his empire. A far cry from Neo's first attempt, when he was ranting and raving about how he should have the empire.
Thus, I can only conclude that while his Sonic-esque AI may cause him to get a little reckless, he remains genuinely devoted to his creator outside of his brief cocaine rush in Heroes... and Free Riders, but I don't think anyone knew what was going on in that one. I don't think he knew what was going on in that one.
But perhaps most surprisingly of all - according to the OVA at least - despite all his black-hearted ways, he is still capable of good, as evidenced when he saved the President and the legendary Old Man Owl from dying a fiery death. Whether it's an inherent part of his own nature, or whether it's a side-effect of his Sonic programming, isn't fully clear... but either way, he might want to make sure Eggman doesn't find out about it.
The Execution: Metal Sonic's execution is a complicated case, because there's a dissonance between when he's merely an obstacle for the good guys, and when they've tried to make him more than that.
When he's merely Eggman's instrument of evildoing, he does the job nicely. Sometimes his appearances can be underwhelming depending on the game (read: Sonic 4), but he usually provides a memorable scuffle when it's time for him to put up his dukes. Even if half of those are actually races.
When he aims for bigger, on the other hand? Well...
I've already joked about Neo Metal Sonic's design, but don't be fooled, for his ridiculous fashion sense is merely one part of my beef with the overall concept of Neo. Simply put, everything about Neo Metal Sonic goes against everything that makes this particular character work.
Ranting, monologuing, and running his mouth off does not work for Metal Sonic.
Gathering everyone's data with the intention of becoming Metal Everyone does not work for Metal Sonic.
Transforming into a goddamn dragon does not work for Metal Sonic. (I can let Metal Sonic Kai slide since despite being bigger and more monstrous, you can still recognise it as Metal Sonic specifically. Colour scheme aside, Metal Overlord/Master Overlord might as well be a random monster entirely.)
These ideas aren't necessarily bad on their own. They could work for another villain, or another Eggman minion. But for Metal Sonic specifically? It just doesn't work at all, and while some may be willing to handwave it as the result of Metal's insanity, I firmly believe it's more than possible to establish and delve into his inner madness in ways that DON'T contradict almost everything about him. A character being insane is not an excuse for turning them into a completely different character altogether, nor is it an excuse for just plain handling them in a shitty manner. By all means, I'm all for giving Metal a bigger role, and I'm all for expanding his character and his dynamic... just not like this.
Metal doesn't need to do all that in order to be effective and leave an impression. His portrayal in the OVA confirms that. OVA Metal was everything that Metal was known for at the time: straightforward, loyal, and silent, bar one line towards the end. And he still managed to be a very intriguing antagonist who served as a believably major threat, and who gave Sonic the fight of his life, and thus earned the hedgehog's disgruntled ire and his begrudging respect. That is the Metal that writers should aspire to. That is the essence of what makes that character.
So, despite everything, I still highly enjoy Metal Sonic when he's Metal Sonic, and not Something Vaguely Shaped Like Metal Sonic. He's stumbled a bit over the years, but when he's done right, he's always an eventful burst of fun, and ultimately, my fondness for those portrayals overrides my disgust towards elf shoes. And I'd love to see them expand on his dynamic with Eggman, which a certain well-liked series of shorts has thankfully given us a small taste of. Here's hoping the future will follow up on it...
“Now, if you may be so generous, hand over the Emerald slowly, or else I'm afraid your little friend will face the consequen-ooooowwwww my FUCKING wrist.”
Crusher Gives Metal Sonic a: Thumbs Up! (and Neo Metal Sonic a: Thumbs Down!)

Couriers: Ola-Ola Part 2
I realized I forgot to post a recap of last week’s session, so here’s one as I wait on this week’s session to begin lol
Last week we started back at the town of Kaikala, having just seen Kaicis and Keyleth off on their mission into the jungle to rescue the innkeeper’s daughter. Aeron and Nimh go for a quick shopping trip to get dried fruit and some fruit juice to enjoy down at the beach. Nimh lays on the beach a bit next to Sunny and Xel’bal, the two tortle crewmembers. Aeron splashes about in the shallows, collecting seashells. He gets spooked by a crab, who clicks its claws at him menacingly. Aeron is an enemy of all crab-kind apparently after the crab swarm on the kuo-toa island. After a bit of collecting shells, he settles back up near Nimh and the tortles. Nimh reveals that this is the closest to home they’ve felt since they left, which is odd since their home would be frozen solid in winter right now. They also revealed that it either was, or was very close to, their Name-day. They explained that while birthdays aren’t really celebrated, goliaths instead observe the day they’ve survived for a year, which is the day they’re given a name. Aeron then explains birthdays, or at least how his family celebrates them, to Nimh, and mentions that if it’s really their birthday/name-day, then they can do whatever Nimh wants, and also he reveals that he was cleaning up the big hydra fang he found among the hydra teeth earlier to give as a gift to Nimh anyway (maybe so it could be made into a dagger for them or something).
Then, as they relax on the beach and Aeron builds a sand-castle (decorated with the shells he found), he notices a huge flock of seagulls nearby and goes over to investigate. He finds they’re mobbing a bunch of baby turtles trying to get down the beach from their nest to the ocean, and with a yell of “BABIES!” he drives off the seagulls with Prestidigitation. Nimh and Sunny, curious now at the cry of “BABIES!” come to see what the fuss is and help to shelter and shepherd the baby turtles on their journey. Nimh holds some baby turtles in their hands and almost cries about how small they are.
~~~
Meanwhile back with Keyleth and Kaicis, they’re stuck at a tea party with an archfey. Kaicis is asked to invite Belmont over to the table and gives him a quiet warning not to eat or drink, then tactfully calls out Nahele as an archfey so Keyleth knows as well. The two continue to talk a bit with Nahele and find that he rules court over the fey of all the islands in this archipelago and he hasn’t been to this one in a while but it’s lovely this time of year.
~~~
Back in town, Aeron and Nimh have a proper lunch of crab stew and Aeron relays Walker’s apology to Nimh (in Walker’s voice). Vendus joins us and pulls Nimh aside for a second to see what their reaction (as apparent leader of the party) would be to mutiny on the Seahawk, as several members of the crew are very unhappy with how Kelvayla has been doing things. Nimh replies that they will keep the party out of danger, noting that it’s best really if there’s no bloodshed because there’s been enough already. Vendus thinks on this, and takes his leave.
Returning to the table, Nimh tells Aeron he was right about the potential for mutiny, and tells their answer, which Aeron approves of. Then Nimh drags Aeron to the fishing competition (which he bemoans is boring because “all the old geezers back home do that off the piers and bridge when there’s nothing better to do”).
~~~
At Nahele’s table, Kaicis and Keyleth finally manage to peak the archfey’s interest in the festival and fishing competition enough to have him agree to let everyone head to the festival. Himself included, as Kaicis notes he’s sure to be a welcome guest at the town. Nahele says that they’ll head over as soon as everyone finishes their tea. Kaicis excuses himself as too full already, Keyleth apologizes that he doesn’t like tea, Belmont similarly excuses himself, and then it’s down to Akela, who goes to finish the tea she’d started before the group got there.
~~~
The fishing competition is begun for the kekoa fish, basically salmon that swim up the island’s river every year, with a prize of a fancy crown of feathers, and Aeron immediately asks Nimh how to fish because he needs that crown like now. Nimh chuckles and proceeds to teach Aeron how to spear fish. After Nimh lands a nearly 30 inch long fish, Aeron compliments them and tries his hand...getting immediately bowled over by a kekoa. Nimh gently taunts him and he fluffs up in indignation, promising he’ll beat them. The next round, Nimh catches a 19 inch fish, and Aeron catches a 41 inch fish, which he flaunts. Nimh calls it beginner’s luck.
For the next round, Nimh helps Aeron by putting him on their shoulders to give him a height boost and he ends up catching a 43 inch fish. Finally, Aeron uses his perch on Nimh’s shoulders to spot for them...the Monster. A massive kekoa, charging down the river. They concentrate and throw the spear...and catch a 46 inch fish. Nearly bowled over by its size, Nimh grapples it and then scoops Aeron under their other arm and the pair of them run around in victory for a bit.
~~~
Akela’s cup of tea refused to empty no matter how much she drank. After like literally an hour of waffling back and forth on plans and desperately trying not to fail at the verbal jousting with Nahele, Kaicis finally made a tea cup with Prestidigitation and they poured Akela’s tea into that, thus meaning that her cup was empty and she was done with her tea. They began to head to the festival and arrived just in time for the award ceremony for the fishing competition.
Nimh came in second place with Aeron’s 43 inch fish, which they’d traded to Aeron for the 46 inch fish...making Aeron the winner! He was crowned with the feather crown and given a woven cape in the colors of the kekoa, which is probably magic. The party regrouped, with Nimh bluntly refusing to hear what had happened with Kaicis and Keyleth because they were safe and the kid was safe. The K-Team did warn to be careful around Nahele though. Then the festival settled down to feast on the fish caught in the competition, with Aeron and the party settled at the head table, with his winning fish cooked beautifully and set out for them. A group of dancers performed a fire dance, showing the story of Nantzintli who formed the world by splitting herself into her daughters to corral the primordial darkness with their light to keep it confined into land for the people to live on. The party feasts and drinks, some more than others. Nimh takes an early leave to go walk along the beach, and while Kaicis helps a heavily drunk Keyleth back to the ship (Aeron stayed in town partying his tail feathers off) they see Walker go off down the beach after Nimh.
Nimh and Walker have a small talk, where Walker apologizes in person for revealing Nimh’s scale issue to Kelvayla, as well as for Kelvayla being kinda a dick about it. Nimh brings up the fact that they will have to eventually leave once this whole treasure hunt is over, but tells him that they will miss him when they do. Walker says that it’s alright if it ends, as long as it’s this nice while it lasts. And we ended the session with Nimh leaning their head against Walker’s shoulder.
The Continent of Makor, located in the northern hemisphere of the world.
The continent is called Makor. The grid is about 200 miles square. The southern reaches straddle the equator while the northern most mountains quickly give way to tundra and eventually arctic ice caps. The countries of Makor are listed below:
The Ranfus Sea: The countries around the inland sea were once united under the Osheth Empire until a great betrayal gave way to civil war and fracture the Empire into many different countries. The countries are a plurality human, with sizeable numbers of elves, dwarves, halflings, and gnomes.
The Osten Empire: The last remains of the Osheth Empire, now called the Osten Empire, they are the richest and most powerful country. They have a great deal of very fertile farmland in the lowlands and massive forests to the north. The capitol is Osheth, and major cities include Frington, Stington, and Treflund to the North. The ancient city of Cheadal is the center of Osheth faith. Stington is at the southern end of the Bleir Bore. It is bordered to the north by the Mhara Mountains: cold, monster-filled, almost impassable.
The Frelands: The Freland Forest is the name for the expansive, ancient forest across the straight from the Osten Empire. It is claimed by Osten, but in reality that claim only extends for about 50 miles from the coast, just enough for New City and it’s surrounding villages. Osten has also cut and burned a mile wide track along the cliff coast of the Frelands to link New City with Athye Harbor on the lowlands, creating the High Road. Outside of that area, the depths of the forest are impenetrable, unmappable, and unscryable. Adventurers tell the tale of ancient ruins, mysterious fey, talking trees, and intelligent beasts. The Frelands are bordered by a snow capped mountain range. Upstream from Athye Harbor lies Nanwei City, an ancient, isolationist city that is frequented by religious pilgrims of the Cult of the Maker.
Droiland, Achland, and Schauland have a long lasting and close allegiance, culturally and politically. Between Droiland and Osten lies the Druoi Drain, a land of lakes and rivers, the largest of which is called the Bleir Bore. Droiland’s capital is Guthaus, Achland’s is Khestaad, and Schauland’s is Lostrait. Schauland and Achland share stewardship of the only trade route to the western coast of the continent. The city of Dusmen lies in the mountains between Droiland and Achland and is the largest surface city of dwarves in the region.
Nonsu: This is a country of endless, rolling grasslands bordered by Schauland to the west, the Tomeri Desert and empire of the same name to the south west, the Shabok drylands to the south, and Freland and the great impenetrable mountain range to the east. The people of Nonsu are a mixed bunch of nearly every humanoid race, all tribal, clanfolk, or other roaming people. The one city is called Tenghar, the city that has never been conquered. The great Taivi river rests in the western region of the country and has rich farmland and the only real settlements in the country. The current clan that holds Tenghar is the Sun clan, lead by Chiakonee the bugbear.
Other Countries:
Mythashara: The country of elves rests in an expansive forest spanning hundreds and hundreds of miles. There is an even more ancient forest on the Shrenl’on Island, where most races are forbidden to set foot unless explicitly invited by a resident of Mythashara. The city of Elyhil on the northern coast is the most welcoming to visitors and is a bustling trade port, though they are in constant conflict with the Kaspians across the bay. The capital city is Illidell, and there is also a southern city of Motothalas.
Ebrea: Within this mysterious jungle filled peninsula lives the deadly and xenophobic yuan ti. The snake people use the more violent lizardfolk as the lower class, soldiers, servants, and slaves. The ruling yuan ti have little need to trade with any of the northern countries, though some trade of magical items and luxury items exists. The capital city is Kespa.
Ichtaca: Little contact is had with this region. It is inhabited by tribes who worship strange animal gods. Strangely, for the last five hundred years, a small diplomatic contingency of Ichtacans reside in the Nonsu capital of Tenghar, though little of trade or treaties is ever discussed and the Tenghar Lord is always tightlipped about anything that may be discussed.
Thessana Island: The homeland of the tabaxi cat people is a jungle filled island dominated by a long dormant volcano. Though tabaxi live in many other places on the continent, Thessana is their cultural homeland and the place where their legends say the Cat Lord created them. The capital is R’lasso.
The Tomeri Empire: The empire might compare to Osten in political and economic power, if it wasn’t mostly desert. They have compensated for a lack of economic power by becoming the most magically powerful country, second only to Mythashara, or maybe the dragonborn of Xaelryss. Often struck by droughts and internal strife, they used to adhere to a strict castes system until about thirty years ago when an uprising of the lower classes overthrew the ruling regime. The Empire opened its borders and diplomatic relations only within the last twenty years. They have a tense relationship with Schauland after generations of border raids. Cities known include Gostri, Triele, and Askel.
The Land of Xaelryss. The large island is topped by three active volcanos, each supposedly housing an ancient golden dragon. The dragonborn of all colors live on this island (some small communities live elsewhere, usually in large cities). Chromatic and Metallic dragonborn usually belong to different families and have quite a bit of tension between them.
Kaspian: This swampy, forested country is bordered by the Frelands and impenetrable mountains. They have little in the ways of tradeable goods, but they hold themselves to be the best sailors (and pirates) in the world, and they just might be right. The capital city of Jashea is a lawless wreck of a town filled with pirates funded by the corrupt ‘Pirate’ King.
The 100 Tribes of Asmund are the denizens of the frozen northwestern coast. There are at least a hundred tribes of goliaths, dwarves, orcs, and humans, each claiming their own territory. They follow shamanistic religions, and are famous for their berserkers.
*the jungle bunch gang are sitting in a circle with the broken coffee maker in the middle of them all*
Maurice: so... Who broke it?
*everyone is just silent..*
Maurice: I'm not mad, I just wanna know.
Camelia: I did, I broke it—
Maurice: no, no you didn't. Tony?
Tony: don't look at me. Look at Goliath. *He gestures at Goliath with his head, and he's sitting beside him*
Goliath: what?! I don't break it!
Tony: hah, that's weird... How did you even know it's broken?
Goliath: because it's sitting right infront of us and it's BRRRRROKEN! Wow..
Tony: suspicious...
Goliath: naw, it's not.
Gilbert: if it matters, probably not, but... Batricia was the last one to use it—
Batricia: LIAR! I don't even drink that crap.
Gilbert: okay, really? Then what were you doing by the coffee cart earlier?
Batricia: I use the wooden stirrers to push back my wings, every knows that, Gilbert!
Camelia: okay, let's not fight! I broke it. Let me pay for it, Maurice!
Maurice: NO! Who broke it?!
Goliath: pssst, Maurice. Yer mama has been awfully quiet...
Natacha: Ohhh, REALLY!?!?
*everyone is now arguing except for Maurice, and then he spoke up, breaking the argument*
Maurice: ...I broke it. I burned my hand, so I punched it. Yyyeah boy.
*everyone all just stare at Maurice in silence*
Goliath: ...beetches.
