I've given up sorting through and grouping things together. It is what it is. Which is a bunch of random ships and fics in a mixer.

xwannaflyx: “Saving the World (but Mostly Yourself)” (Gai/Kakashi+) part of a series, one of three Kakashi's plan to save the world is something vaguely involving exposing Danzo's involvement in everything and stalking Orochimaru to make sure he can keep an eye on any potentially apocalyptic projects. His plan did NOT involve becoming the student of Orochimaru. (Also his plan kinda sucks and Sasuke may have had a point when he said he didn't have a plan.) (Realistically he didn't have much of a plan and thank god for Tsunade because both Kakashi and Orochimaru are a hot mess)

TJ_Dragonblade: - “Delayed (or, Why Kakashi Is Never On Time)” (Gai/Kakashi) ♡  • The real reason Kakashi's always showing up late.

Thehoundisdead: “I Was Born to Press My Head Between Your Shoulder Blades” (Gai/Kakashi) • “Ugh,” Kakashi sighs loud before turning quick and sharp in Guy’s grasp so they face each other, only to absolutely slam his face against Guy’s chest. If Guy were a lesser man it might hurt, but as is, he just laughs at his Rival’s antics, even as said rival curls his fist tight on Guy’s bare waist, “I’m trying to sleep, be quiet.” “But Kakashi,” Guy actually whispers this time, jaw moving against the top of Kakashi’s head, “You are in my bed.” Or, 5 times Kakashi fell asleep on Guy and one time Guy understood.

Forgetme: “Phoenix” (Gai/Kakashi) • Kakashi comes back to life. It takes a while. (takes place after chapter 450)

Aventria, iluxia: - “Hiding in the Leaves” (...) (general) last update: 2023 In another life, Orochimaru never leaves Konoha, opting to remain within the village that equally reveres and reviles him. Fighting a bitter battle against forces within the village that are more influential and well-positioned, he finds himself gifted with one last shining opportunity: three children, a team of genin, handed to him because Konoha has no better choice. Orochimaru agrees to become a jounin-sensei for the first and the last time, taking on the next generation's Team Seven: Uchiha Sasuke, Nara Shikamaru, and Uzumaki Naruto.

Chrononautical: - “An Unexpected Homecoming” (Kakashi/Minato+) The Reaper dies and those who were sealed alive are released.

Tozette: “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” (Sasuke/Sakura) • Sasuke is actually eighteen the first time he looks at Sakura and realizes abruptly that he wants her.

Sunshine_sparrow: - “With Nothing On My Tongue” (...) (Kakashi/Naruto) last update: 2023 Naruto realizes the ability of the Kage Bunshin the night after being attacked by Mizuki. At first he just wants to use them to help him train; then the true usefulness of the jutsu begins to reveal itself. Featuring baby badasses, Tank Team Seven, snarky dogs, a special guest appearance by Kakashi's Guilt Complex, and many, many fix-it cliches.

Grilled Cheesby: - “The Jikan Phenomenon” (...) (Sasuke/Kakashi+)         last update: 2020 The Jikan Phenomenon is something that the Uchiha rarely talk about. The sharingan and it's capabilities when it comes to space and time are largely unexplored. The sharingan has many techniques that, with enough training, the wielder can control. The Jikan Phenomenon is not one of them. 

Chespin: - “The Cessation of Panic“ (Sakura/Sasuke) • "There's a thing called a hospital," she starts. "I recognize that Orochimaru was mean to you and probably never took you to one, but they're wonderful things. You should go there. Now." Or: Five times Sasuke shows up injured on Sakura's doorstep.

CherFleur: “Tsundoku” (...) (Kakashi/OC) *discontinued, rewrite in progress, also has some unconnected fics within the same fic universe Hatake Kakashi had a problem. Some would argue that he has many problems but while they may be right, he's perfectly content ignoring them. And denial. He's very good at denial. Well, this time, technically he had three genin-shaped problems, but right now his most troublesome - ah, he can practically feel the Nara cringing - problem is a student so covered in scented lotion, shampoo, and soap that she could qualify as an implement of torture. This needed a kunoichi's touch. Preferably one without a team of her own, definitely not someone who would traumatize them even more... Ah ha. He's a genius. Yes, Nagisa Asuka will be perfect. Hopefully, she won't stab him when he asks. People often try to stab him. He wonders why.

Araceil: "Accidental Providence" (...) (Naruto/Neji) (000) deleted fic, but I still have the google doc saved An AU where Naruto graduated the first time he was at the academy and ends up on Gai's team with TenTen and Neji (in cannon he failed to graduate 3 times I think, and then after that the Mizuki thing happened) *obviously since the fic was deleted, I don't have the official summary, so my own will have to do

Wolfy Tales: - “I Found You Missing” (Kakashi/Sakura) •  'They're asking us because these soldiers have absolutely no one left to write home to' Sakura thought with a frown. So she signs up for the Shinobi Letter Exchange, not realizing how large the consequences would be.

Mx. Irony: - “Curiosity and the Copycat” (...) (Kakashi/OC)  last update: 2020 Hatake Kakashi had a routine of sorts: train, complete missions, visit the Memorial, and read Icha Icha Paradise. Then that routine was interrupted by a nosy, overly friendly civilian. 

Applecrumbledore: “Awful Wonderful” (Gai/Kakashi) •  Gai spoke at the reception that followed Kakashi's inauguration. “My eternal rival—it has been one of the premiere joys of my life to watch you transform from the curious, brooding youth whom I admired into the intelligent, powerful and truly kind man who sits before me today, whom I am proud to respect and adore.” He raised his sake cup and it looked comically small in his big hands. “To our Rokudaime.” Adore. Kakashi turned the word over and over again in his head and tried to remember if Gai had said it before in all his flowery language about friendship. He couldn't.

Blackkat: - “Backslide” (Naruto/Kakashi+)  Naruto’s friends are gone, his lover is dying, Konoha is destroyed, and Madara’s second return has pushed the entire world to the brink. Hunted and harried, Naruto is sent back in time to upend Madara’s plan before it even starts, and sets about changing everything. Butterfly effect nothing: the world is at stake, and Naruto is hardly about to let it fall to ruin once more. Not while he’s still breathing.

Ideaoforder: - “Roots and Wings” (Kakashi/Iruka)  When Naruto is kidnapped from his orphanage at age three, Kakashi is so done with this shit. He gets Naruto back, tells the Hokage where to go (politely, because he isn't suicidal), and raises the boy himself. Or, you know, tries and is proud when there aren't too many explosions. Then everybody starts to copy him and it's a whole thing.

Flialinginlove: - “The Bingo Book” (Kakashi/Iruka)  Kakashi avoided relationships. He didn't want to put others in danger. So he couldn't understand why there was a face staring back at him, as a sub-entry to his own, in this Bingo Book. Umino Iruka (lover) the caption read. It didn't matter that it wasn't true. The Book was fact, and to Kakashi's enemies, Iruka had just become a weakness they could exploit.

Flialinginlove: “Interested” (Kakashi/Iruka) •  Iruka sees Kakashi without his mask and suddenly seems a lot more interested in him than he's ever been before.

Flialinginlove: “Catching Lightning in a Bottle” (Kakashi/Iruka)♡  Iruka gets a little more than he bargained for when he summons his first demon.

Flialinginlove: “Scent and Sensibility” (Kakashi/Iruka)  In a world where most people identify their mates by scent the first time they meet, Kakashi and Iruka take a more scenic route. Or, the one where Iruka does an excellent job of hiding the fact that he is an omega, right up until he gets stuck in a cave with Kakashi. (A/B/O dynamics but without mpreg, dub-con, and rivers of gushing fluids, also trying to avoid overly stereotyped gender roles.)

DUde that fic rec list is amazing but one phrase caught my eye 'SASUKE-CENTRIC'. I fell in love with the potential of Sasuke by reading the Sharingan Rising series by weialala and now I'm desperate for that good good Content which doesn't just bash Sasuke and really explores the possibility of him. ‘verses i have for satsuverse:

main ‘verse where shisui doesn’t die, the uchiha massacre doesn’t happen, danzo gets his ass GONE, obito gets only partway through his plans before he’s stopped, probably more things but i haven’t gotten that far yet,

au where shisui dies and the massacre happens; in this case they either graduate a bit early and become kakashi’s apprentice (since he’s the only adult remaining with a sharingan, he’s the only option for teacher for satsuki and sasuke) or team seven is made up of two uchihas and naruto

au where sealing accident goes into jikan phenomenon real quick, and they come in during the kannabi bridge mission. the whole mess with the cave-in is averted. now they just have to figure out how to 1) make sure rin doesn’t get kidnapped just in case that wasn’t an incident engineered by madara, 2) make sure that the kyuubi accident doesn’t happen just in case madara gets his hands on somebody else to do his bidding, 3) make sure that danzo gets offed and ROOT disbanded after minato takes the seat of hokage, etc etc,

Here goes another interview of this volume. Churi’s spirit is always fired up and I love her for that!

Dear all Churi fans, let’s do our best for this year, too!

“We are out of crisis”

She has gone through the days of glory and the days of pitch-dark slump

 The life in SKE48 in these 7 years, the only answer I got

is “doing with all my might”

 A thoughtful running for general election

 - In 100%SKE48 deluxe edition this time, we mainly ask 2 things. Firstly, let’s start with general election.

Churi: Why does BUBKA-san invite me for interview every time there’s general election? *laugh*

- It became tradition *laugh* Please start with the reason that made you run for election this time.

Churi: Last year, I got 14th. I got works as AKB48 Senbatsu, showed at Music station and 24 Jikan Terebi. Fans were overjoyed because of this. It was unforgettable summer in my 48 life. It was so fun. However, after that, there were many frustrating things. So, if I want to enjoy with fans again, maybe general election is the only way.

- I understand.

Churi: But, I also hesitated a bit because my position in SKE48 Senbatsu is still not as expected even though I got 14th. I can’t truly say that I work for SKE48 to the fullest. Last year, I thought “I have to make people aware of SKE48’s Takayanagi Akane again” “I want to do more various things”, so I ran for election. Anyways, those goals are not all achieved. That’s why I’m so thoughtful about running for election.

- This must be the thing that made you worried. To be honest, when I knew that Takayanagi-san will participate, I thought “Here’s Churi!” because last year, I felt like you would never participate again.

Churi: There are many people said that “Did you say last year would be your last!?” but I’ve never said “last” at all. I also didn’t think about this when I participated last year. It’s just that if last year I got into Senbatsu and had a big change, that might be the last time.

- If there are more works as SKE48 and you see your own new direction…

Churi: That’s right. If there had been more individual works, if I had chosen which way to go and if my position in SKE48 had been clear, last year may have been the last.

- 2 days ago, when you were hosting your regular program “Umarete kono kata” with Matsui Rena-san, you also talked about general election.

Churi: Actually, I didn’t prepare to talk about it. The time when we record it was the same time as application period. I still hadn’t decided yet whether I should apply or not. But, the topics that staff-san provided me, there was “consulting about Churi’s worries” At first, I thought we would talk about election privately, never thought we would talk on air *laugh* Rena-san told me that “No matter how it will turn out, it is still general election” These words saved me.

- Just applying or not, you worry that much?

Churi: Since they applied candidacy system, it’s never been the same. If I didn’t apply, I would be asked “why didn’t you apply?” and if I applied, I would be asked “why did you apply?” Though I thought about it real hard but they said “maybe you should step down for juniors already”. Of course, there weren’t many who said that. I think that’s too kind. Shinoda Mariko-san also said “members who can’t step up unless someone hand over positions to them will never win in AKB”. I will not back down…moreover, my position in SKE Senbatsu is still behind juniors, so I think “since I’m still at the back in Senbatsu, at least, I will be at front in General Election!”

- That’s right!

Churi: I’ve been participated in General Election all along. Even though Jurina-san and Rena-san from SKE48 didn’t rank at the first election, when I saw those 2 seniors ranked wonderfully, I deeply felt “I want to stand on that stage, too!” That’s why I also want juniors to look at me on that stage and think “I want to get ranked, too!”

 I only have NOW

 - Understood. Speaking of phenomenon of this year’s election, it must be that SKE48 members withdrew one after another, especially, members who are close to Takayanagi-san and members who got high rank last year, also.

Churi: (Ishida) Anna from 2nd gen and (Oya) Masana-san from 1st gen decided not to participate. They had their own reason, so I will not talk about that much. In fact, you need to be very courageous to decide like that. During application period, the thought in the morning and the thought in the evening are totally different. You may change your mind every hour.

- apply, not apply, apply, not apply…right?

Churi: Yes. When night falls, you would be panic. There were lots of time to think. I also saw fan’s feedback from blog and Twitter. Of course, I was scared to face the result but I already promised my fans. No matter how frustrated I will be, I will not cry. I will not cry regardless of the result.

- As you mentioned, Masana-san didn’t participate this year. When you know the news, you said you’re “shocked”, was that because you feel lonely?

Churi: Yes. Although I never told her, Masana-san has the goal to be in Senbatsu same as me. Since “namida no seesaw game” (Undergirls song in 2010), we’ve been in Undergirls together. If there’s Masana-san, I would feel relieved.

- To be honest, what’s your goal this year?

Churi: About this, I’m still worried whether I should say it clearly. I want to hold a meeting with fans.

- Why is that?

Churi: I want to talk with fans directly for quite an amount of time. Just writing blog, it’s hard to express my feeling to them. They also don’t know how I feel when I write it. Some may say “there’s handshake event, anyways” but I think you can’t speak it all in just few seconds.

- I understand.

Churi: I also want to hear what my fans say, speak to them openly. If that can align my fans’ feeling, that would be good. The time that I can be idol is limited. During this time, I want them to like me till the very end because I only have ‘NOW��. Anyways, once I say like this, it may seem I already decided to graduate. Please don’t worry, I am going to graduate soon *laugh* but I’m thinking about many things. I don’t know what’s right, maybe nothing is right.

 Takayanagi Akane’s status at the present

 - Then, let’s move to next topic. Actually, you already mentioned about it. It’s related to last topic, also.

Churi: It’s about “SKE48 from now on”, isn’t it?

- Including that, but what I would like to ask is what “status” do you think you are now in SKE48?

Churi: I see. I also want it to be clear.

- That’s great. Takayanagi-san was always KII leader. You were discharged from this position. You’re also neither vice-leader nor captain.

Churi: It’s been 2 years already.

- That’s right. Then, where do you think you should be?

Churi: In my opinion, for SKE48, except for Jurina-san who is center, others have no fixed position. Members, aside from those promising juniors, are also like that. But AKB48 is different. For example, Kojiharu-san is model, Paruru-san is actress, Watanabe mayu-san is the face of AKB48, Mion-chan is the next gen center. If it’s AKB48, everyone clearly has her own job. But for SKE48, only jobs in the group that’s clear…

- Like captain and leaders, those are jobs in the group, right?

Churi: Yes. But outside jobs are not clear so I don’t know what I should do, wouldn’t it be better if it’s clear?

- I think so, too.

Churi: Ah! I want to tell everyone that “If you think about live performance, it must be Takayanagi Akane” I’m in charge of heating up the live performances. I was gone wild at national tours *laugh*

- I went only at Ibaraki, it’s really lively.

Churi: The time when I could be myself the most is when I stand on the stage. If I could be the one that everyone thinks “rest assured, this girl is here”, that would be good.

- Current national tour switches between each team and Kenkyuusei, right?

Churi: I want everyone to be together, explode with full strength. I want to tell them “you can go a bit wilder” Both (Suda) Akari and Yakata Miki-chan also said to me“ If there’s Churi in the live, it gets fun” My comrades who were in the same team said this to me, I’m so glad.

 - Last summer, Rena-san graduated. I would like to know how Takayanagi-san’s feeling has changed since then.

Churi: First of all, once Rena-san graduated, I felt “I’m alone now…” Rena-san, Miepii (Sato Mieko), (Furukawa) Airi, everyone’s gone.

- Those whom you are close to graduated one by one.

Churi: It’s sad without the ones who are close to me. I also thought that I don’t want to get close to any members again. Last autumn, I was always alone in KII dressing room. Everyone was so kind to me, anyways. They asked “Churi-san, anything wrong?” such as Arai Yuki-chan, Kitano Ruka-chan and Ego-chan. They saved me, brought me back to resume trying again.

- When Rena-san graduated, how has the group changed?

Churi: Last autumn, there was next gen unit “Love Crescendo” This spring, there were many children at the front in “Chicken LINE” I think that was result from Rena-san’s graduation.

- Takayanagi-san, how do think personally?

Churi: I got to be in “Transit Girls” unit. When I knew that “Transit” means “change”, I didn’t think it represents me well. I didn’t want to change or anything yet.

- Still waiting at the airport *laugh*

Churi: Yeah *laugh* Though I felt discontent a bit, I didn’t say it out.

- How about “Chicken LINE”?

Churi: It was very cool song. If not from Takayanagi’s point of view, it was a great song.

- And your point of view was?

Churi: I was frustrated. In fact, I thought I would spend the time teaching juniors which I’ve been doing all along, but no one came to audition to be behind juniors.

- No one would.

Churi: Like (Takagi) Yumana, she likes SKE48 children, wants to support each and every one of them. That’s wonderful. But for me, I dream to be idol that shines. Of course, there are juniors I like. I also want them to get more attention.

- Could you please tell me the name?

Churi: For example…I couldn’t tell*laugh* I already said to those children because I saw potential in them. At times like this, I couldn’t tell their name.

- How many of them?

Churi: Yeah, there are some which I want them to get to Senbatsu and some that are already in Senbatsu but I want them to get praised more…many of them.

- Takayanagi-san, Jurina-san and Rena-san were called “JRA”, maybe around 2011-2012, how did you feel at that time?

Churi: That time, there was nothing to be afraid of because I got the position unexpectedly. When I got in “Aozora kataomoi” Senbatsu, I felt pressure from seniors like “ah! Crap!” *laugh* After that, I was so glad that I got to sing with Jurina-san and Rena-san. I like them and respect them for a long time. Getting to sing with them, but…what did I think at that time? I don’t remember at all. Maybe, wanting to be center?

- The reason why I ask is that I think the answer may lead juniors a way.

Churi: I can only tell that I do it with all my might to be center someday. Effort you put today will get back to you someday. I did it with that thought in mind. What I can say is “Though effort doesn’t payback, since you’re here, you only have to do more, don’t you?” Don’t think too much. That’s the only thing I can proudly say. These 7 years that I’m in SKE48, no matter it’s working time or private time, I always think of SKE48 except only when I play with birdies at home.

- That time, please leave it *laugh*

Churi: But I really love birds so I want to work involving with birds. If birds get protected and live happily, that would be good.

- You think that far!?

Churi: Yes. I want bird population to increase. I want people to love these birds because they can live only around 10 years…we need to talk about this.

- Maybe next time *laugh*

Churi: Anyways, what I want to tell is I do it for the sake of SKE48. In order to avoid misunderstanding, I didn’t attend coming of age ceremony. I also didn’t walk with brothers when my family gathered during new year holiday.

- That’s “SKE48 people” *laugh* By the way, Saito Makiko from the same gen got to be captain.

Churi: I told her that “you need to be yourself. No matter what happens, we are with you” She’s been a good model for everyone all along, just do like she always does.

- As I asked many members from interviews this time, everyone said the same thing “the feeling of the group has changed, not stagnant anymore” What Takayanagi-san thinks?

Churi: I still feel that it doesn’t change much. So, we need to continue changing, try something new. For example, when center was changed in “12 gatsu no kangaroo” but that time, it was NMB48 that changed first.

- If we try something new, we want to be the first, right?

Churi: That’s right. Actually, I want regular TV program *laugh* Up until now, there are many people who like us because of TV program. It’s also a good opportunity to let people know each member’s personality.

- It’s an interview that we can truly understand Takayanagi-san’s thought.

Churi: I’m happy to hear that. Also, about last year’s “Kouhaku” that we couldn’t get there, I was so frustrated that I cried. However, it seems there are not many members frustrated about this. This makes me even more frustrated. Sometimes, I think that’s how SKE48 situation is like right now. I want everyone to be confident to get back there!    

- That’s alright. SKE48 still can go on!

The Jikan Phenomenon, Ch. 2: The First Encounter

Chapter Summary: Sasuke struggling to deal with his family. The hokage, it is decided, must be notified.

The first thing Sasuke needed to think about was who he could trust with the knowledge of his future. He needed to carefully consider what he was sharing with the people around him. Mikoto and Fugaku—they can’t be his parents any longer if he was going through with this—were staring at him in awe, taking in his appearance. They were good people, Sasuke knew, but they were currently in a precarious position. If Sasuke was going to stick around, they would be the ones covering for him. This would definitely throw even more suspicion on the Uchiha Clan’s activities. The Clan was already going to try and plan a coup in a couple of years; Sasuke wasn’t sure he wanted to contribute to the negative feelings the village held towards his Clan.

So, what to tell them?

“You’re so big,” Mikoto whispers, her eyes shining. “Just look at you!”

Sasuke let himself smile at the comment, a bubble of wistfulness growing in his chest. He never got the attention he had so craved from his parents as a kid, and to have their focus completely on him, for them to be staring at him with pride shining on their faces, was certainly a scene in which he never thought he would find himself in.

“What rank did you reach?” Fugaku asks, looking Sasuke up and down.

Sasuke shifts, his cloak lightly swishing back and forth. He wondered if it was suspicious that he wasn’t wearing any village identifying clothing. He didn’t have the uchiwa fan on him anywhere either. Oh well, he dismissed, things to worry about for another time.

“Genin,” he replied with some amusement. Once everything had started to calm down after the war, Sasuke hadn’t seen any point in taking any tests to raise his rank. He hadn’t stayed in the village anyway, so it wasn’t like he had much of a chance to take the chunin and then jonin exams. People were more than aware that he was no genin.

“That’s all?” Fugaku’s proud look has turned into a frown, his relaxed observation of Sasuke turning more sharp as he gazes at Sasuke’s form, still hidden behind his cloak.

“I took the chunin exams at one point, but wasn’t promoted. Never got around to taking it again,” Sasuke responds with a light shrug. They were his family, but until he had a more concrete plan, there was no reason for them to know what Sasuke could do; just how much he was capable of.

Fugaku is still frowning at him, a look of disapproval clear on his face, but Mikoto is still smiling gently at him, just happy to see him.

“We were just sitting down for breakfast! Why don’t we head back to the kitchen and talk while we eat? Itachi, go get your brother out of his room.”

Sasuke paused, his mind suddenly remembering that his older brother was stationed behind him. Sasuke turned and looked over his shoulder, making eye contact with the younger man.

He looked so young. Sasuke etched Itachi’s young, untroubled face into his mind, trying to take in details that he had long since forgotten. Itachi had made many mistakes, had put Sasuke through a type of hell that no one had ever deserved to go through, but he was still Sasuke’s older brother, the man who—while misguided—tried to do everything in his power to keep Sasuke alive. It was nice seeing the curious look on his face; it makes him look alive.

“Yes, kaa-san,” Itachi replied calmly, his voice never wavering as he made eye contact with Sasuke. They stared at each other for a few seconds before Itachi quietly slid open the door and headed out into the hall, turning off towards the direction of the bedrooms.

“Come,” Mikoto said cheerfully, walking to Sasuke and, while advertising her movements clearly, softly put her hand on Sasuke’s left shoulder. Sasuke allowed it, not letting his flinch show. He had gotten used to others avoiding touching him on his left side. With his arm quite clearly not there anymore, people had the tendency to avoid looking at it. The only time someone would go for it would be when they thought they saw a weakness he was carrying. Sasuke allows Mikoto to lead him out of the room and it’s when she moves her hand down slightly, her fingers grazing the empty area below his stub that he had a revelation. They couldn’t see his missing arm, he realized.

Mikoto paused for a second as they walked towards the kitchen, a flash of something going through her eyes, before she continues on her way, her hand once more upon his shoulder. He allows her to push him towards the table, taking a seat as she prepares a setting for him. Fugaku comes in next, his frown still ever-present on his face. From behind him, a small head pops out.

He had thought Itachi looked young. His own face stared back at him, oh so curious with just a tinge of uncertainty and fear. He was tiny at this age, his cheeks full and his face prone to blushes whenever he felt embarrassed. Sasuke hadn’t felt like that in so long that it was rather jarring to see himself flush when met with an unwavering gaze.

“Itachi says you came from the future,” young Sasuke whispers curiously, inching his way towards his older counterpart.

Sasuke makes sure his smile is tranquil, nothing but kind feelings on his face and that they are the only feeling radiating from him. There was no reason to spook his younger self. “He’s right.”

Younger Sasuke perks up, his eyes widening. “I travel through time?!”

Sasuke nods, not saying anything when Itachi appears, taking younger Sasuke’s hand and maneuvering him into sitting next to their mother instead of beside Sasuke. Itachi, with no indication of his tactical move, takes the empty spot next to him.

Itachi doesn’t trust him. That’s certainly new, Sasuke thinks with an internal chuckle. This entire experience is causing havoc with his emotions; especially if he’s started chuckling.

“I did, yes,” Sasuke finally tells his younger self. Sasuke has travelled through time. His younger self might not, not with the changes Sasuke has already made with his presence.

“That’s so cool!” younger Sasuke shouts, his round eyes shining with glee and amazement. His grin is wide and it makes Sasuke’s mouth hurt in sympathy at the stretch.

“Sasuke-bo, eat your natto,” Mikoto interrupts, gesturing towards the younger Sasuke’s untouched food.

“But kaa-chan,” younger Sasuke whines, his attention briefly taken off his time travelling counterpart, “I don’t like natto!”

“Sasuke,” Fugaku interjects gruffly, “Uchiha do not whine. They do as their parents tell them.”

His younger self continues to pout, though he does start taking small bites of the fermented soy beans.

“You too, Jikan-kun,” Mikoto encourages, turning to scold Sasuke. Sasuke blinks, jolted by the sudden address. He supposes it is quite confusing to address both of the Sasuke’s in the room by their shared names. He lets it go, but can’t help making a face at the natto in front of him. Mikoto lets out a breathy chuckle, smiling brightly at him as she says, “You still make the same faces!”

Sasuke glances at the younger Sasuke, sees the indignant look on the child’s face, and quickly clears his own face of emotion. “I haven’t eaten natto in almost ten years.”

Mikoto blinks at the comment, surprised. “Do I stop making it for some reason? It’s your tou-san’s favorite.”

Sasuke calmly replies, “Once I’m older I spend a lot more time eating at the training grounds.” Sasuke, after the massacre, had made his own food and packed it, that way he wouldn’t have to stop training, even when he became hungry.

“Oh, I hope you didn’t overwork yourself!” Mikoto fretted.

“You wouldn’t have let me,” Sasuke confesses. It’s true; if his mother had been alive she would’ve surely made him attend at least one meal with the entire family.

Mikoto’s returning grin is mischievous, a wink sent in his direction letting him know that she assumed she must have done something to get him back into the house and spending time with his family. It makes his chest ache. Seeing his mother, her smile so very beautiful, so concerned for his wellbeing is sending a pain throughout his chest.

The five of them settle down, eating in a relaxed quiet. Younger Sasuke is done first, the little boy waiting patiently at the table as the rest of his family eats. Itachi finishes next and, with a silent glance exchanged between father and son, bundles up his younger brother, announcing his intentions of giving his little brother a bath. Younger Sasuke whines, wanting to ask Sasuke more questions, but Itachi insists that Sasuke bathe before he can leave the house for the day. Both of them are gone the next second and Sasuke can feel the heavy stares of the other two set themselves on him.

“How long has it been gone?” is the first thing Mikoto asks, her voice sad as she looks at him. Fugaku raises his eyebrow slightly, obviously not in the known about what Mikoto is talking about, but curious for his answer nonetheless.

Sasuke debates with himself for a moment. He can’t hide it, Mikoto knows after all, but he’s hesitant to let them know about his disability. He was very much convinced that it let people underestimate him. People would take a look at him and assume that he was weak. H had used it to his advantage once or twice. This, however, was different. This was the family he had lost far too soon all those years ago. Would they take one look at his arm and recoil as the image of their still young son overlay his own? It was too late now to back out anyway.

Sasuke shrugs out of his cloak, allowing his empty left sleeve to be seen by the two diagonal from him. Mikoto lets out a faint gasp, her gaze locked onto the empty sleeve, while Fugaku’s eyes only widen to indicate his surprise.

“I lost it a few years ago,” Sasuke answers, taking his cloak into his hand and setting it down beside him.

“Does it hurt still?” Mikoto enquires softly, her gaze full of pity.

Sasuke doesn’t let the pity bother him. He made the decision himself to not get a replacement arm made out of Hashirama cells. His lack of arm is a reminder of who he is now.

“No. It hasn’t for a while.”

“Who did it?” Fugaku’s voice is hard. Sasuke fights the urge to straighten his back, not wanting to break his relaxed posture.

“Does it matter? They won’t do it again,” Sasuke tells Fugaku, his voice letting the older man know that he wouldn’t be getting a name from Sasuke. This world won’t be one where it would be necessary for Sasuke to fight Naruto. Sasuke won’t let his younger self abandon the village. He won’t allow for there to be a reason to abandon the village.

Fugaku scoffs slightly, his eyes narrowing, but he doesn’t pursue the subject. Instead, he turns to another difficult topic. “We must go to the hokage.”

Sasuke grimaces. He knows that he can’t stay a secret. The Jikan Phenomenon has always been kept from the general public, as well as the other clans, but it’s something that is far too important to be kept from the village’s hokage. Sasuke isn’t sure which hokages have known of the incidents through time, but he’s sure the Sandaime would be one of the village leaders to know about it. If nothing else, he would’ve been informed by either Itachi or Shisui in the event that it somehow effected the rising tensions in the village.

Shisui. Sasuke blinked, startled out of his thoughts. Uchiha Shisui, known as Shunshin no Shisui, played an important part in the upcoming events. Sasuke had learned about Shisui’s role in the attempt to stop the coup. Sasuke also knew about Shisui’s Mangekyo ability, Kotoamatsukami. The man had failed in Sasuke’s past at using said ability to stop the coup, but with Sasuke’s foreknowledge and his help, could Shisui be the answer to his first obstacle at fixing the past to better the future?

“Of course,” he replied eventually, his thoughts struggling to turn from the possibility of Shisui’s part in his future plan. “I’m ready when you are.”

One moment Sasuke is sitting around his campfire, the slightly chilly night quiet around him, his sharingan activated as he stared into the flames, memories flashing before his eyes, and then the next thing he knows he's standing in his childhood home, four sets of startled eyes staring at him.

He doesn't move, even when his mother's tanto is suddenly pressed against his neck. Fugaku is staring at him, his eyes hard and unforgiving and Sasuke can see Itachi in the corner of his eye, kunai poised and ready to strike him if he so much as moved in a way Itachi didn't like.

It's seeing a younger version of himself, wide-eyed and staring at Sasuke from behind his father, that keeps Sasuke from lashing out.

"State your name and your purpose, intruder," Fugaku demands, his hand reaching down to push the younger Sasuke farther behind him, trying to keep the young boy from gaining his attention.

Sasuke takes his family in, calmly, and silently curses his family's legacy.

The entire basis of the phenomenon happened so long ago that the Uchiha Clan no longer remembers the first incident, only that it started a domino effect. Once it happened, it would continue to happen for decades to follow. The premise is simple: the sharingan takes its wielder back in time with not forewarning whatsoever. Sasuke doesn't remember it happening a lot when he was younger, maybe once or twice, but with the clan massacred as they were, there was never an opportunity for anyone to just come back by chance. Now that Sasuke thinks about it, it was a rather foreboding sign that something was going wrong towards the end of the Uchiha Clan's existence.

Sasuke stays silent as the two adults eye him warily. Sasuke isn't quite sure how to handle seeing his family again. There's so much pain surrounding his past, surrounding the images of his mother and father, that Sasuke is doing his utmost to try and distance himself slightly from the two in front of him. If he thinks of them as his parents, he might break down. Sasuke has long gotten over his loss, but that doesn't mean the wounds still aren't there.

"How far into the future do you come from?" Fugaku asks, his expression blank except for the tiny hint of curiosity sparking in his eyes.

Sasuke tilts his head, quick calculations flying through his mind, as he tried to adjust his thinking. This is clearly before the massacre, before everything went wrong, and his younger self had looked so incredibly young when he'd gotten the brief glimpse of him before. He struggles with himself slightly before he quietly replies, "More than ten years."

Mikoto and Fugaku exchange another glance, communicating with each other without even saying a word, before they once more turn back to him, scrutinizing his appearance and demeanor. Mikoto is watching him incredibly closely, an odd expression on her face. Both of the shinobi in front of him have already clocked into the fact that he never said his name and it looks like Mikoto is slowly putting the pieces together. If anyone was going to realize who he was without him having to introduce himself, it would either be his mother or Itachi. Speaking of Itachi, Sasuke has to keep himself from smiling fondly at the silent presence at his back. The young Itachi is standing silently behind him, guarding the door from both his escape and from anyone trying to get in before it is deemed necessary.

"You never mentioned your name," Mikoto finally states, breaking the quiet that had descended upon them.

Sasuke can go in two different directions. He can lie, tell them he's some random Uchiha from the future, let them think that the clan is going strong. Let them make their own decisions and let the rightful history of his past take place. Let the massacre happen, let his younger self suffer for years before being beat into sanity by Naruto's fists and words. He can let Itachi make his mistakes and let him die, just as his future self had wanted.

Sasuke has the choice to stick to his past, his future, and to let things exist as they had.

Or, he could tear apart his future and make a better one.

The Jikan Phenomenon, after all, didn't only deal with time. It also dealt with reality. When an Uchiha went back in time and changed nothing, met no one, they would eventually be carried back to their future, everything the same just as they left it. When the wielder made the decision to change things, however, it became more complicated. Every decision everyone makes allows time to branch off and make a new reality. A new dimension. The Uchiha were the cause of several shifted and newly formed dimensions. If Sasuke spoke up, if he told them the truth of who he was and where he came from, his machinations would cause a shift. A new reality, a new dimension would be created alongside his own. A dimensions where things would be different.

The only downside being that if his past changed, his connection to his own reality would be severed. Sasuke's sharingan would not be able to connect to his future because his future would no longer exist in the reality he was a part of. He would be stuck in the past of a dimension that he had created.

"My name is Uchiha Sasuke."

He mourned all those he was leaving. He mourned Kakashi, his sensei who was so very tired. He mourned Sakura, the girl who he so hastily discarded as weak. He mourned Naruto, the boy who never gave up as he pursued Sasuke to hell and back. He would miss his team, his future family. But, Sasuke had many mistakes and held plenty of regrets, and if he didn't take this opportunity, he would never forgive himself. The Jikan Phenomenon only happened once to a select few and Sasuke needed to make sure that there was more Uchiha for the phenomenon to happen to.

He held the memory of his found family close as he wished them goodbye, finally meeting the shocked gazes of his past nightmares, and now possible redemption figures.

"There's some things you need to know."

some of it is my own thing though. like. mangekyo sharingan, right? “madara stealing izuna’s eyes for power” is ANTI-UCHIHA PROPAGANDA and positions the act as THEFT DUE TO GREED AND POWER HUNGER. within the clan it’s understood that izuna had offered his eyes and it had been done as an act of love, as all exchanges of eyes are, and it’s equally understood that they can’t actually say so outside of the clan because non-uchiha Don’t Get It

(obito also offered his eye to kakashi as an act of love, i give you my eye, i hope that it will help you when i cannot, and even years after the fact kakashi still feels uneasy for having it and avoids contact with uchiha when he can. in a better world he would’ve been given sharingan-specific information and aid from a uchiha medic to help integrate it into his system, but The Uchiha Clan Sucks Sometimes.)

When I intervened in the cave, I made a Choice. I could have left completely, leaving Rin there, allowing events to take their course. Obito would be buried in the cave-in, half his body crushed, his eye offered and accepted. Zetsu would claim him and bring him to Madara, and he would be fashioned into Madara's tool, and everything would go wrong.

So many people would have died. So much pain and terror would be heaped upon my Clan, my Village.

How could I have stood by and let the first axe fall?

How could I ever look my mother in the eye afterward, knowing that I did nothing to stop her best friend's death? How could I face Obito, knowing that I could have spared him the torment and decided not to? How could I be around anyone without choking on the knowledge that I could have prevented the Kyuubi Attack and didn't?

My whole body shudders as I try to weep without noise.

If Shisui were here, he would settle next to me and lift an arm in invitation, and I would bury myself against him and cry into his chest. He would tell me that he is so proud of me for Choosing what I had, that I have so much strength. You never knew when to stop meddling, he'd say, but he'd hold me closer in spite of it.

You saw someone suffering in front of you, and you stopped it, (Nara) would tell me, each word measured and understanding. Even if you had stopped to consider the consequences, you still would've done what you did. You save people. That's what you do. That's who you are.

(Inuzuka) would agree with him. Your hero complex is the size of the moon. We're used to it already. Come on--none of us are dead. You're just going to be the weird uncle or something now.

In the shrine, Obito would place a hand on my head. Haven't you been listening? he would ask. We're Uchiha. We are always going to lose what we love; it's in our blood. It's how we grow. Now show me your eyes.

As if in answer, I lift my face and let my hands slide from my eyes to my mouth. My breathing is ragged, but everything around me is so clear.

I know without having to check: I've gained the Mangekyo Sharingan.

Also thank you to anyone who has supported the Jikan phenomenon. I just realized that I’ve reached over 2k kudos and I’m tearing up. I know it hasn’t been updated in a hot (very hot) second, but I promise more chapters are in the works! I entered into a Big Bang that is just now in the beta stages, so I’ve been distracted. But no more! A chapter should be coming sometime this year, I promise!
