catching fire book and movie is just DYSTOPIAN GOLD TEEN YA GOLD LIKE COME ON I watched the movies that raised us podcast catching fire episode and it just made me remember the GOLD AND PURE HEART of that movie and franchise like the introduction of finnick odair is INSSSSSSSSANE like you can see once the quell is announced how peeta and katniss and the rest of the tribute immediately drop the nice nice act

like it's too good to describe please someone else put it more eloquently but I legit could do a quinton reviews style review on catching fire NOT the hunger games trilogy BUT Catching Fire specifically book and movie

The prep team

Understandable but kinda disappointing becuase how much they can add to Katniss charecter. They did technically appear but does the really count?

This one honestly surprised me. It showed how unaware of things Katniss can be, and overall in the book the pin had more meaning.

I get it’s a movie on a time constraint, but it was lowkey my favorite part, and they kinda got rid of it. It room out some character growth between Peeta and Katniss a bit too

How big Peeta is

More of a casting thing, but Peeta is huge in the books, Josh Hutcherson does amazing don’t get me wrong but I would have love to seen like 6’2 Peeta

To a lesser extent also Katniss’s temporary deafness. I do understand to an extent on why that was cut, but it did add a cruelty to the games, it also helps with parts in Catching Fire

the hunger games movies make no sense???

i spent a very productive day rewatching the hunger games movie series, and came to the realisation that these movies make no sense outside of the context of the books. take the storyline of avoxes for example. they just say pollux is an avox in mockingjay part 1, which makes sense to someone who has read the book but if you just raw dogged it, going into these movies without the knowledge from the books to fall back on, you would have no idea what is happening. the pace of all the movies in general is so awkward without the books, there are just so many little things like that which are just thrown in without any proper explanation. that is my rant thank you and good night, cinna is a gay icon

I don’t have a lot to say about the second one (edit: except, oops, apparently I do), just the sense of the importance of privacy. Katniss has to give up so much of her privacy over the course of the first book; her struggles and traumas and sufferings in the arena are obviously meant to become media to be consumed by the audience, and the totality of all twenty-four tributes’ experiences are edited into a three hour movie. So, right off the bat, we have a feeling of inauthenticity. But beyond that, Katniss finds herself acting differently than she initially feels while in the arena, putting on a show for an audience that she cannot see but nonetheless knows is there. A relationship of any kind cannot organically grow between her and Peeta because they are constantly being observed, already placed in a box as to what their relationship is supposed to be, and so they play the part that their audiences expect - and that severely screws both of them up afterwards, with Katniss unable to parse out what reactions of hers were authentic and what was merely for show, for survival. Katniss also spends a lot of time trying to hide from cameras when she is feeling really emotional; there is an urgent feeling of no, the Capitol can have all the rest of me, but it can’t have this part of me. The Self needs some aspect of its nature to be unsurveilled - that surveillance is in some sense the death of the authentic self. And that’s why I think in Catching Fire, it’s.... sweet that Katniss is hesitant to watch the video of Haymitch’s time in the arena; she’d be watching footage that was already edited and made for public consumption, but she still feels that it watching this video that still airs on television from time to time is a violation of Haymitch’s privacy. Because she knows what it is to be stripped of that privacy, and knows the process of intrusion and violation that went into the making of Haymitch’s Huger Games film. (Also, I think that this adds a whole new layer to the way Suzanne Collins wrote the series, that in some sense this story has to be told from the first person)

A Few Hunger Games Thing’s I’ll Never Get Over

Have to Warn you If you haven’t Read/Watched any Huger Games Spoilers

1. Killing Off Finnick.... Did you really have to kill off Finnick... In mockingjay 

2. Hijacking Peeta... How freaking CRUEL you are too  make the one he really loves in this world his enemy...  Enough to try to kill her...  And how dare you do that to my love... In  Mockingjay

3. That Beetee Johanna and Finnick Separted Katniss and Peeta in the Arena for there plan.... I get it  some made a deal to Keep Katniss and Peeta Alive for the  breakout plan and that they knew they would run off.. if they got the chance to do that alone... but Still..  In Catching fire 

4.  Don’t get me Started on Rues Death..  The Hunger Games

5. I don’t think I Can get over for  the Bombs that Gale Made that Killed Prim...      (Now the Strange part of that is Beetee was in on the making of the bombs too but Katniss wasn’t beyond Pissed at him Unlike gale who she basically wanted nothing to do with him anymore) Mockingjay 

6. The whole 75th Games with the Victors going back in the arena... ( I think I threw my book at that point)  Catching Fire

7. That Katniss and Peeta had no idea of the Breaking out of the arena plan..  (I Get it tho) But like  a little hint wouldn’t of hurt.. I totally am like yeah good idea for Peetas Sake tho... But nothing  like guess what your the face of this revolution weather you like it or not... ( Yes she did agree too it i beileve after she found out Peeta was alive)  ( Sorry a little rusty on the hunger games knowlage). But still...   Catching Fire 

8.  That Gale Kissed Katniss outta no where no wonder the poor girl is  confused... Also why is there this whole will she pick Peeta or Gale.. (It’s clear as day to me.) She Friendzoned Gale over and over again...even tho they share some kisses... but honestly  the way she is around Peeta or talks about him is like she loves him clearly. Gale had no chance at all.. ( Fun fact in the movies Katniss is the first to Kiss Peeta everytime Correct me if i am wrong tho) ..  Thank you movie for making  it less creepy for Snow to actually know about the kiss..  Catching Fire

9. That Clearly these games are rigged af..  Picking Children who might of broken rules or  seen as a rebel in their District... If it was Legit then there names are 1 in 10 thousand to get  picked....  I do wonder what the other Tributes did tho to get there nammed in these Rigged Games tho... ( Thank you movie for making it clear that the  game plans were changed  so then Katiss would be in the arena again.) 

10. I don’t think  I will get over the amount of times. That Peeta saved Katniss’s Life over and over again... 

11. That Snow Distroyed District 12..

Lynn Cohen Has Passed Away
