Listen, I was on the internet the day Misha Collins came out as bisexual and then subsequently came out as straight again. And nothing will ever be funnier to me, truly, than the general reaction to his coming out being “didn’t we already know he was bi? Good for him, of course, but I thought he already came out?”

Which made him coming out as straight several days later even funnier.

No, but the fact that sending someone/something to the shadow relm is still a pretty widely understood pop culture reference should tell you EXACTLY how successful Yu-Gi-Oh was.

Do I feel robbed that it was initially supposed to be a horror manga that mentioned the card game maybe twice and was geared mainly towards teens and young adults? But the author began using the card game more because that's what readers responded to? And eventually, it was picked up by an American cooperation who heavily sanitized and censored it so they could sell their card game to kids?

Yeah. Maybe a little.

But they made the right choice, is what I'm saying.

#like yeah #yugioh coild have been something incredable #or at the very least fascinating #but it would have probably ended up a cult classic with a small loyal following #kept mainly in underground conversation and the messege bourds of old #but they did what they did #and now yugioh duel monsters is one of the highest grossing franchises of all time #with pop culture moments so iconic they are still mentioned in meme circles today #not to mention the MASSIVE amount of money the actual trading card game made #dose the trading card game make sence?#no.#but god did it ever make money #bek rambles about crap #yu gi oh
