No, but the fact that sending someone/something to the shadow relm is still a pretty widely understood pop culture reference should tell you EXACTLY how successful Yu-Gi-Oh was.
Do I feel robbed that it was initially supposed to be a horror manga that mentioned the card game maybe twice and was geared mainly towards teens and young adults? But the author began using the card game more because that's what readers responded to? And eventually, it was picked up by an American cooperation who heavily sanitized and censored it so they could sell their card game to kids?
Yeah. Maybe a little.
But they made the right choice, is what I'm saying.
