On this episode of keeping up with the Hanoverians.
George iv dramatically confesses his love for his mistress Maria Fitzherbert~ while King George iii tries not to throw things at him.
He's being unprofessional amd unethical, and Queen Charlotte said that Maria's fashion sense is trash, so~

Inspired by @english-history-trip, I decided to make my own "history what-ifs" poll, pretty much covering the Stuarts and Hanovarians.
I decided to forego any heirs of the throne who died prematurely or asking the question what would have happened had childless monarchs had (surviving) children, and focussed on some different events, some of which would have been more, some less likely to have been successful.
However, a successful French invasion was as much feared in 1805 as some loyal cavaliers were rumoured to be murmuring that Elizabeth Stuart would make a good monarch. Since none of these things have come to pass in this our universe, let us embark on merry, not all too serious speculations-- have fun voting, speculating, and adding any suggestions you may have!

The signatures* of the monarchs of England/UK from 1066
*When there was no signature, I used their name as it appeared on a charter or letter from them.

Hatsune Miku trend but make it 18th century Europe, lead foundation included! I love all the cultural Mikus so I wanted to draw some historical outfits for her :>
This is a weird amalgamation of the robe a la polonaise and robe a l’anglaise. I hope it’s not too inaccurate.
Also pls excuse the sketchiness of the whole drawing 🥲

Sextant from Dundee, Scotland dated to the 18th Century on display at the McManus Art Gallery and Museum in Dundee, Scotland
The sextant was a navigational instrument which was developed in the 1750's and could measure greater angles than the octant. Nautical instruments, like this one, of P.A. Feathers of Dundee became known in ports all over the world.

The joke here is that, by Wellington's first run as Prime Minister, King George IV was so morbidly obese that he had to sleep upright in a chair
I have officially decided that their names are Georgia and Adeline (though the latter will be referred to simply as "Wellington" much like her real life counterpart) i might also refer to Georgia as "Augusta" after the Augustus in actual George IV's name or "Fredericka" for the same reason. ALSO THEIR SHIP NAME IS REGENTDUKE MUAHAHAHHAHSHAJ

Royal Navy Issue Boarding Pistol from the British Empire dated between 1791 - 1795 on display at the Vancouver Maritime Museum in Canada
Explorers like Captain George Vancouver, who charted and claimed what is now British Columbia in Canada, were also officers in the Royal Navy. The ships and crews were armed and were ready and trained to use violence against Native peoples or rival empires.
Pistols with long barrels, like this one, were commonly used by seamen were as ones with shorter barrels were issued to officers officers. These pistols were cheaper than the ones produced for the army and were mainly use for close combat with a heavy handle which could be used as a bludgeoning weapon.
