I love knowing absolutely useless stuff about characters, case and point, their etymology

We all know Khoshekh means "darkness" but did you know Silas (or Silvanus) means "of the woods"? You mean, Mino's Whispering Forest labyrinth? Those woods? Darkness of the Woods is a great name for a cat btw.

Carlos is the Spanish form of Charles, which simply means "man". Very fitting for the "normal guy" trope those two start out with.

But Cecil? Oh, he's the best one!

Cecil(ia) means "blind", also Saint Cecilia was the patron saint of music and musicians. Interesting how a character so frequently pictured with third eyes and omnipotence has a name meaning "blind".

Gershwin is a Hebrew name also indicative of music. This always gets me. His first and middle name both reference music? That doesn't feel like a coincidence.

And Palmer means "pilgrim" and "palm tree", referencing his residence in the desert not yet named Night Vale

Theres also some bonus art of them when theyre younger, this series is going to feature a lot of flashbacks lol. Odettes colors are the one with the loose hair btw, she was initially blue but i tweaked it so shed resemble her mother more. 

Fawks and Estelle are pixies! magical attendants to the dragons. the dragons being the royal family hence the name lol. Fawks is a scholar and theyre actually pretty well known while Estelle is the bastard child of one of the five pixies families who keeps her pixie-ness a secret. 

Estelle, Faust, Odette and Lennox are major secondary characters. Estelle a sweet but often bumbling and prone to panic. shes also very very magical even for a pixie and is a force of nature whos often underestimated. She sticks to Kiara like glue and the pair are rarely apart. 

Faust is the fox spirit guardian of Kiara and Estelle. Self appointed big sister and auntie to Luri. Faust is a shapeshifter whos gender fluxtuates with their whims. He uses exclusively feminine referentials (auntie, sister, maam, lady) Faust us much older than he looks and is a fragment of another spirit that split into three and has a mysterious past, but thats neither here nor their. Faust is quite happy with their circus and the little family theyve made for themself and they are Luri's beloved bougie aunt. I havent had a chance to go in and change it but Faust is a gray/ silver fox not a red one

Odette is silas' younger sister as i mentioned and she, unlike silas, never cared to appease her parents. shes thought of as a stain on the family reputation due to her debaucherously lifestyle and materialistic nature. Shes thought to be one of the most beautiful women in the country, Just like her mother. However Odette is also a very strong person. Shes very loyal to the few in her circle and uses her beauty and influence as a weapon. She can be kind of off putting at time and has an odd sense of humor but shes kind at her core. She and Silas are very close, as the only ones who can truly understand what the other is dealing with and once she gets Luri in her sights she becomes the most doting aunt youve ever seen. she loves fashion and specifically buying and ordering custom dresses for Luri, whom she rightfully thinks is the cutest child shes ever met

Lennox is Silas' personal guard and best friend. his only healthy non-familial relationship besides Kiara. Lennox's mother was Silas' wet nurse and they were raised side by side. Lennox is loyal to a fault and is a big slab of beef. hes a himbo through and through and doesnt pick up on social cues well. Hes also an established warrior who helped silas take down those folks i mentioned in the other post. despite this hes a very silly guy who Luri warms up to quickly. He also has a weird quirk of referring to everybody besides his sister as sir, maam or lord. even silas who hes known his whole life is not exempt. Silas has told him time and time again its okay to call him by his name but lennox will not do it. he has a comically large sword, seemingly endless energy and a boisterous and friendly demeanor that makes him easy to get along with.

SO to start off let's look at the description on YouTube, it brings me QUESTIONS

Like, guys, we know who they're fighting, they're fighting the Rheddig invaders before/during the Purge of the Rheddig, you've told us this before in previous trailer drops (edit: that I might have made up because I can't find any previous trailers??? memory wut r u doin) and the press release, so why are you being cryptic about this?

Well, the only lines of dialogue in this trailer is Frey and a mysterious person. Frey asks, "The Gloaming, what does it do?" and the mysterious voice who is decidedly not Cuff answers with, "It destroys Athia, of course." But... but that's Susurrus's job, right? Shouldn't Frey already know what's going down, know what's going to happen, and have a certain wrist idiot making noises while she tries to stop it? Is "The Gloaming" what the Rheddig calls Sus? If so that's badass and I love it, but if not, why are there no records about it in the main game? The continued lack of my sassy asshole best buddy in these trailers makes my heart do not so fun things, because I so desperately want him to go with Frey, fight back against the Rheddig and, ultimately, help her face down the Susurrus that existed before he loved knew her. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled for whatever I do get, I just hope nothing bad happened to Cuff and he's still there to be a snarky little fuck in Frey's general direction when all is said and done.

("Gloaming," btw, is twilight or dusk, it's when the day fades and night begins. I'm very much in love with this name and my Kingdom Hearts-saturated soul is going bananas right about now).

MOVING ON, we've got the new set of magic:

Sorry if the picture quality is crap, YouTube isn't playing nice with my iPad and I don't have a desktop computer that can handle my bullshit. ANYWAY! Looks an awful lot like Cuff's magic, doesn't it? I've seen speculation on the Forspoken subreddit that this is "yellow" magic, or, more specifically, Rheddig magic. Which makes sense, because it's almost identical to the magic that Cuff wields to protect Frey and deliver his killing blows. And in the fights against Susurrus, he has all that plus big giant laser beams of death, because of course he does. Frey has additional powers that Sus didn't though, like that big-ass sword that she uses to cut spacetime and summon a black hole at 0:36-0:42. Yes, look, I know that gravity spells are a staple of Square Enix fantasy RPGs, but I'm allowed to still be excited about them and think they're cool, okay?!

That said... what happened to the rest of Frey's magic? Do we still have access to Sila, Prav, and Olas's spells? We know we can still zip, but here's the thing:

That's not Sila's Zip spell. Moreover, Frey's using her left hand to cast it, not her right, which is where her magic usually comes from. So, what gives? Why doesn't Frey have full use of her magic, even though she went through that whole thing with Cinta's memories to unlock it? Did Cuff somehow integrate with Frey's magic and fundamentally change it to Rheddig magic only? Well, no, because Frey still chucks rocks in the trailer, so it seems likely he somehow gave her new magic. But the other Tanta's magics being conspicuously missing is very, very interesting to me.

Speaking of other Tantas and their magic, now we're getting on to what I really want to talk about:

What, did you think I was excited about the Rheddig war party? I am but that's a squee and a gush for later.

Cinta's magic is nothing like Frey's except purple and elegantly geometric, and I am fascinated by this. So far as I'm concerned, the fact that Frey and Cinta's magic manifests so differently confirms my headcanon/theory that Frey's magic is all hers, baby, not Cinta's. First of all, that saber is gorgeous and I want a replica of it to hang on my walls when I have a house I'm planning to stay in permanently. Second and more importantly, Cinta's magic seems to be based almost entirely around the Torana. There's nary a rock or vine or flower in sight, except as motifs in her armor or that one (1) scatter-shot spell we see her fling at 0:49. In fact, the only commonality their magics have are the effects around Frey's spells, and the same effect when Frey uses Flow and its offshoot magics, Leap and Shimmy. Cinta has integrated the Torana with her combat style (which looks like a fencing style that makes me wish I knew more about martial arts) and even using that ability to yeet Frey up the side of a mountain. As any good mom should do, lbr. Yeet your kids, it's good for them. But she doesn't use vines like Bind or Tendril, there's no other plant-based spells like Disperse, and we don't see obvious earth-based magic like Prime or Screen. It's all kind of... crystalline, almost? So that scatter-shot could be crystal bullets rather than rocks or seeds.

And let me tell you, as someone who made up a whole Final Fantasy-esque class based around crystal magic for an RP that shaped my life and who I am as a person, I am LOSING. MY GODDAMN. SHIT. Square keeps catering to me specifically and it needs to stop because my wallet can only get so empty.

Silas  is  a  character  with  NPD  (  undiagnosed  /  unbeknownst  to  him  )  and  I  try  to  steer  clear  of  harmful  tropes.     I  focus  more  on  the  aspect  of  like  .  .  .  his  narcissism  does  not  make  him  a  100%  bad  person,     it’s  more  his  environment  that  made  him  into  a  cult  leader,     the  NPD  just  allows  him  to  fit  the  criteria  better,     it’s  what  gives  him  that  charm  and  alluring  quality.      Thing  is,    he’s  just  not  inherently  a  bad  guy  and  he  does  have  some  good  ideas.      Yes  he’s  manipulative,     yes  he  pulls  strings,     yes  he  knows  what  buttons  to  press,      but  he  truly  believes  that  he  does  this  to  save  people,    to  bring  em  to  ‘Paradise’.

Not  saying  he  is  right.     At  the  end  of  the  day,    he’s  a  cult  leader.      What  I’m  saying  is  that  on  the  outside  his  whole  schtick  may  not  be  classic  horror  and  the  horror  is  not  his  condition.     What  makes  it  horror  is  that  this  guy  who  is  considered  perfect  by  his  parents  and  parents’  church   (  only  cause  he  followed  their  path  of  Evangelical - turned - New  Age  Evangelicalism  )   is  so  blindly  followed  by  so  many  people  who  would / will  quite  literally  DIE  for  him.      But  then  we  have  the  added  complications  of  him  being  actually  pretty  human;    He’s  sincere,   he  can  love,    he  can  sympathize,    he  can  protect  and  be  pretty  selfless  at  times.

And  that’s  how  a  lot  of  real  cult  leaders  were.     Namely  M*rsh*ll  Applewh*te  and  D*vid  K*resh.     They  were,    according  to  those  in  &  out  of  their  circles,     kind  sincere  loving  people  if  you  took  away  the  other  stuff  they  did.      That’s  not  my  opinion  at  all  btw  -  that’s  what  others  who  knew  them  said.      What  makes  this  whole  Violet  Crystal  universe  sad  &  horror - themed  is  that  it  makes  you  think,     what  could  have  happened  to  all  these  people,    Silas  included,    if  they  hadn’t  been  so  vulnerable  &  conditioned  into  being  spoonfed  delusions?      The  fact  they’re  all  so  happy  and  looked  after  yet  willing  to  commit  s*ic*de  for  a  religious  belief  system  makes  it  complex.      And  that’s  the  tea!

•No.6 -A plot heavy story na di super focused on romance,, BUT IT’S THERE AND THEY LOVE EACH OTHER AND THE PLOT IS GOOD SOOOO yeah it’s a good read!

•Super Lovers -aAaAaAH Ren the cutie pie uwu,, for those who are bothered by age gaps,, this ain’t for u lol. Also this is (kinda) slow burn! For those who don’t know what that is igoogle niyo nalang hahaha basta ayon, more on slice of life siya,, as in showing the daily lives of the characters etc. etc.

•Konya mo Nemurenai -CUTIE NILAAAA 💜 THERE'RE DEMONS IN THIS MANGA AND THEY CHILL AF COZ..u know,, manga.

💖•Sasaki to Miyano (ongoing)-  I AM IN LOOOOVE WITH THIS MANGA!! I LOVE IT WITH A PASSION 🔥💜 para siyang typical na tropahan ng guys sa anime bUT WITH ROMANCE,, yung SHOUJO MANGA type na romance huhuhu a must read! Warning tho, matagal tagal mag update :(( 

💖•Yoidore Koi o Sezu (completed, yaoi)-  Saglitan sa’kin ‘to hahaha, it is very very very nice! Good romance, good sex, good story, aHhhh a good read! 💜

💖•Shiba-kun to Sheperd-san (ongoing, yaoi)-  tHERE IS A CUTE DOG HERE GRABE GRRRR. PATI YUNG MAGJOWA DITO VV CUTIEEE. Kaso another one na mabagal bagal magupdate zzz but still! A cute read! uwu 

💖•Sayonara Alpha (completed, yaoi)- ABO!Dynamics mej nakaka loka siya kasi parang kakatok na yung FBI maya maya sa pintuan habang binabasa ko ‘to asldjnanskjdadjjasjk. but don’t worry! hindi siya (totally) shotacon! AND I ACTUALLY LIKED HOW UNIQUE IT IS EWAN OK NAGENJOY AKO HAHAHA BASTA BASAHIN NIYO TO KNOW WHY TF IT IS SO UNIQUE HAHAHA. 

💖•Itsuka koi ni naru made (ongoing, yaoi)- i think i have a thing for unrequited love between best friends asldjaskjdhadh. Ok ang cliche nito tbh pero iDK WE ALL NEED CLICHES EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE AND THIS IS A GOOD ONE hehez. 

This has a sequel, and apparently it’s good! at nakakaloka completed ang sequel pero yung prequel hindi grr (di ko pa nababasa coz habang inuupdate ko to tsaka ko lang nalaman lmao):
