It's one of the most beloved Italian pasta dishes out there, just like how he loves you the most! It's a simple dish yet it's hard to perfect, but you learn not to make the same mistakes afterwards. That's what's so nice about it, it isn't perfect. It never is, but even that is something to be cherished. Some of the choices made are questionable to say the least but he doesn't question them any further, he was one of your choices after all. (i have no idea how this connects to carbonara but do u see my vision, the choices are like ingredients..) Spaghetti is the most common pasta to be used in carbonara, outshining the less frequently used rigatoni & bucatini. And who can blame them? It's a timeless classic, a staple. (Just like you two;3) Spaghetti was notably long as well before shorter lengths gained some popularity! You know what else is long? Your prosperous relationship together! (Let's not talk about the creamy sauce.)

It's assorted too! White, milk, dark, name it all! It's no problem-o! It's a surprise in every bite, or swallow but please chew your food. It's a whole new experience every time, it's thrilling. It could be filled with delectable chocolatey sauce, oozing out once you take the first bite! It's sweetness overload, reminding you of the sweet moments you and him have together. Then, the next chocolate has..nuts! Yum, these are a teensy weensy harder to chew especially if you have the teeth of a grandma..Like how it was just a little bit hard to get Simon to open up, to let you in. But sometimes the chocolates disappoint and have a hollow inside :C

Corn was domesticated in Mexico, a memorable place for Johnny to say the least. A lot happened there..During the early years, it was popped by hand but as we can see now it's popped by machines. How is that significant? Well, it shows how your relationship evolves. It's being nurtured like a little baby by the two of you after all! It gets more efficient, the both of you doing your own part in smoothing the bumps along the road. Bringing a six month old infant to a police station is not exactly what her mother-in-law would call orthodox parenting, but the nanny cancelled last minute, and, if Karen is being truthful, there's a limit to the number of hours she can go in a row without having her daughter close by.

It's also true, Karen has to admit, that Iris was born with a fully-thatched head of thick dark curls.

"Don't drop her, please," is all she says, signing at the bottom of yet another ream of paperwork. To say it had surprised her when Shawn Spencer spent the better part of the last hour after her ten a.m. briefing hovering above her desk and pretending very hard like he had no interest at all in holding a baby is an understatement. Whatever cool detachment and casual flippancy he’d used to flirt around her office with previously is now gone, and Karen observes with no small measure of bemusement the fluttery look of mesmerized fascination on his face while he stands, shockingly still, with her unusually quiet and peaceful baby nestled only slightly awkwardly in the crook of his arm.

"Boss," Shawn starts again after another blessed minute of silence, his eyes still glued to the baby. "You gotta level with me here. Does Mr. Vick get more attention from womankind when he goes out with the stroller?"

"I'm going to have to ask that you don't make me consider the possibility, Mr. Spencer."

She signs another document.

"Aw, come on. Chicks love it when a man is on the same mental wavelength as kids. That's why I worked at a summer camp for six months, you know."

She has always wondered whether Shawn has experience working with children; there was that one horrible suicide case a few weeks ago that left a little girl in foster care, and the three hours she spent at the station that could have been miserable for all involved were mostly occupied instead by elaborate games of i Spy and – inexplicably – bananagrams. Shawn had claimed the game was a staple feature of Gus’s work backpack.

Not entirely unbelievable, Karen admits. 

"Mmm," is all she says now, flipping to her next page serenely. Iris coos. Shawn stares at her in awe and lets her suck on his probably-unclean pinky.

She doesn't grimace, because when she looks up it's to the sight of Detective O'Hara frozen behind the glass door to her office, an expression on her face akin to a limpid-eyed doe caught in the throes of a cotton-candy-flavored swoon. If the door were open Karen thinks that they’d probably hear a squeak. She watches Juliet catch herself, turn on her heel, and scamper back to her desk.

Karen sighs; she probably was going to deliver a much needed report on the Lamden case.

She needs that report, dammit.

"Mr. Spencer," she says cooly, internally lamenting the imminent loss of her free baby soother. "Don't you have a murderer to catch?"

"Hm?" says Shawn, nasally. Iris has grabbed ahold of his nose and is burbling softly.

"The dead girl from this morning?"

"Oh, yeah," Shawn says, sounding like a cartoon character. "The boyfriend did it."

"Concrete evidence, if it won't be too much trouble, Mr. Spencer."

He rolls his eyes, but Iris is deposited carefully back into her bassinet. She hiccups. Shawn salutes and skips away. As Karen expected, Detective O'Hara reappears exactly a minute later, clutching case files to her chest and looking only a little bit more dreamy-eyed than usual.

"If you could leave the Lamden report on my desk, Detective," Karen starts without looking up, and, when Juliet, too, begins to hover, hides another pleased grin.

Perhaps this wasn’t the worst idea she’d ever had, after all.

Height I couldn't find an exact height for Lacy, but going off Tracy's old flat art lineup it looked like she must be somewhere between Mitzi and Rocky... taking heels into account, I went with 5'4".

Horny I see Rocky as someone who doesn't actively think about sex all that often outside of the affection it would provide - but, he'd still be happy to participate if it came up? Like he's having a good time if they are, you know? And Lacy, well... I think Lacy could use the stress relief.

Awkwardness Lacy is pretty witty in Normal Situations, but maybe a little less so when caught up in Rocky Situations. Rocky meanwhile is Rocky.

Jealousy I see Lacy as the calm and ready Don't Touch My Man kind of jealous. Rocky, as we know, is the manic Oh God How Do I Compete With That Guy kind of jealous.

Spoons Sure Rocky jumps into being the Big Spoon at first, but I do think he'd quietly enjoy being the Little Spoon more? Like, the feeling of having someone cling to him for a change... so after settling into the relationship, Lacy would take up the Big Spoon role more often.

Clothes Rocky 'borrows' Lacy's scarves a lot. Not to wear (usually) but just to have on hand, kept close in his breast pocket or boldly tied to his car mirror. Lacy has accepted Rocky's dirty wet threadbare singed jacket on a cold night and that's as much of his wardrobe as she can take.

Pet Names Rocky will effortlessly call Lacy all kinds of pet names - enough to string into a song, even! But he usually defaults to 'Lace' in casual conversation. Lacy just calls Rocky by his nickname like everyone else... except for the handful of times she's called him Roark, which was decidedly too intimate for either of them without proper emotional preparation.

Affection While Rocky would do or say just about anything in equal degrees for love, Lacy isn't much for waxing poetic and prefers to express her feelings through more tangible means... but she's not above stating the obvious if physical acts don't get the message across.

Confessing I wouldn't say Rocky would be waiting for a confession... more like hoping? Yearning? But no matter how blatant the flirting got, I just don't think he'd really believe Lacy liked him unless she said it outright. And heaven forbid he scares her off by confessing first, ruining it just like everything else—

Driving Rock drives, technically. But he's far cry from reliable behind the wheel. Lacy hasn't learnt to drive but would be fairly good at it if she did.

Cooking Lacy isn't wild about cooking but has a few staple meals she can put together well. Rocky can make pancakes, but at what cost!?

Relationship Experience When I think of Lacy in her school years, I can't help picturing her as a rather straight-laced student. Maybe even a bit Intimidating to the boys around her. Not looking to party or steal hearts, I think her time as a student would have passed without having gained much dating experience at all. And after graduating, dating drifts even farther from mind - her career's just getting started! If she starts dating now then it'll lead to talks of marriage and quitting and having a bunch of babies and— Rocky wouldn't push for any of that.

Speaking of Rocky... while he canonically Has No Game, it's also been stated that he's had encounters of 'various sorts' in the past - which leads me to believe he's at least fooled around a bit, if not had Very Quick and Unsatisfying Sex at some point in time. So by some bizarre twist of fate Rocky has the slightest bit more experience than Lacy, but... well, it's a combined effort really.

It’s seriously so good modern au where Cassian goes abroad to work and he and Jyn send love letters to one another. A staple Christmas fic.

So a collection of fics that I ADORE is the experiment collection by tincantelephone which is a modern au of Cassian and Jyn trying for a baby. It’s basically just domestic fluff but I love the real life struggles that the author includes like infertility, post partum, rough family relationships and more! Can’t recommend highly enough

One that was a bit of a slower read (but still so good) was PRONTO NOS VEREMOS OTRA VEZ by hotel_raleigh. You ever have an idea for a fic then already find it written in the most perfect way possible? That was this fic for me. A modern au where Jyn goes undercover in Mexican drug exchange and meets Cassian who is also undercover. I can’t describe how good this is go READ IT NOW!

The Art of Putting on Horror Ambiance in Order to Emulate Getting Hunted for Sport, in Hopes that the Adrenaline Produced Forces You to Lock In

Not to brag, but my attention span is pretty miserable. Even things I genuinely enjoy doing are shoved to the side and neglected in the favor of doing actually, literally nothing.

Knowing this fact about me then, it may come as no surprise that getting myself to do schoolwork is an actual herculean task that I either have to trick myself into doing somehow; or as it ends up being in most cases, have to be forced into doing by my own debilitating fear of the due date, now only one night's sleep away, and its consequences on my GPA.

Maybe this sense of fear, this sense of myself in direct opposition to an impending aftermath, is why having horror game OST's playing in my ears when I'm writing is so effective. Misery loves company.

"Anyone else hiding in the comments right now?"

I don't actually have an extensive history of playing horror games-- instead, my knowledge comes from watching them at probably too young an age on YouTube.

My main sources of horror game content came from Markiplier-- of course-- and a much smaller youtuber that at the time when I first watched him eleven years ago, went by Harshly Critical, but now goes by John Wolfe. Both men have played an extensive amount of indie horror games-- some good, and some really, really bad, and some just completely mediocre and forgettable-- and I watched them all. Or at least my fair share of them.

Baby's First Horror Game

The first horror game that I ever personally played, and actually beat instead of turning it off at the first sign of terror, was a game called Darkwood, officially released in 2017 by Acid Wizard Studio.

I didn't even play it off one of their recommendations either-- I had no idea this game existed in any capacity until one day in 2020 when I was scrolling through the Play Station Store, specifically looking for interesting horror games to try.

The first thing about the game that grabbed me was the horrific (in the best way) cover art, but what got me to actually buy the game and play it was its insistence on the minimal presence of jump scares--

At the time, and after the commercial success of Five Nights at Freddy's and its multiple sequels, a series whose staple was the jump scare; many horror game consumers became soured to that convention of the genre-- often calling them out as "cheap" and "out of nowhere lazy bullshit". This sentiment among the community was evidently common enough to be able to market one's game off of. I do remember thinking it was a bit pretentious-- giving off a major "I'm different from other horror games" feel-- but I guess it worked. because I did in fact purchase the game.

And they were absolutely in their right to claim their game as "an atmospheric horror experience that creates a feeling of tension without cheap horror tricks."

Dull of One Sense Sharpens Another

Despite the art on the cover, the actual game itself is pixelated-- for the most part. In fact, the only times when you aren't in immediate danger is when you're sat across from characters that look like this:

That is exactly what makes the sound and music design so genius though; it's that importance of it, that necessity. When the gameplay looks like this--

-- that is to say in a Top-Down perspective with generally dark and muddy, muffled colors; You have to listen for the threats, instead of just normally being able to see them in HD.

That's another thing too, as seen in the photo, there is a specific, defined area that is lit up where enemies can be seen. However, in the game, anything outside of that sliver of light-- anything behind you-- will not be visible until you turn around and shine your light on it. This leads to a lot of enemies inevitably sneaking up on you, and in this game's case where you have extremely limited health and stamina reserves (the red and silver bars in the top left corner), you have to learn to listen for them or else they will easily kill you.

I think then that the intense amount of focus I put into listening for sticks around me breaking, or for sounds of shuffling and growling, all on top of the general game's ambiance and soundtrack, conditioned my brain into focusing whenever the game's music plays.

The Buzzword

Darkwood, authored by Artur Kordas who had a large part in the development of the entire game, has a fantastic assortment of songs that all flow smoothly into each other-- and just they are designed to in the game, they fade into the background, providing a consistent atmosphere so that you can focus on the task at hand-- or at least so that I can.

There are also one or two songs that refuse to wash away into mood music. My favorite song on the album, "Underground", is a perfect example of this. It comes in with this slow and consistent, almost pulsating type of ragged noise, one that makes me picture an ugly, broken and dented, rusted, barely working trumpet, with an underneath layer that sounds like dragging stone against stone. Then around halfway through the song, an aggressive and exciting drum beat with hints of a metallic sound crescendos and crescendos, chasing the original set of sounds until it's all that's left-- completely overriding the grinding stone and leaving a thicker horn blare in replacement of the old one. This of course eventually fades into one of the common buzzing motifs found in many placing of the game's soundtrack, that's meant to signify safety, or hope.

This hasty, thrilling song provides a really nice break up and into the rest of the album, that is an even nicer subconscious reminder to my brain that there is danger if I do not promptly "pick up the pace" of my writing-- and further that there is safety on the "other side" of finishing my work.

Recommendations?

I have played many video games; some that have required a lot of my focus that aren't necessarily horror, but whose soundtracks really help me to concentrate; and I've played other horror games where the soundtracks end up more distracting than helpful. I've also played some games that are my favorites of all time, and I've put many, many hours into, where their soundtracks do absolutely nothing because they're just a little boring.

Darkwood is special in that way, where it lies in a neat, cohesive little combination that ends up perfectly suiting my need for background music when I write.

And I thought it was pretentious.

Does anyone else have specific videogame OST's that work like this for them? I'm always looking to discover new music, especially music that's ideal for studying and schoolwork-- and it definitely doesn't have to be horror; like I've said, I use multiple different genres of OST's to help me out.

Also, I feel like this goes without saying, but if you are looking for a horror game to play, I do recommend trying out Darkwood.

Or if you'd rather just listen to the soundtrack, I understand.

Favorite place in the world you’ve visited?

I haven't been many places at all, and all of the places I enjoyed are neighboring states (Florida, SC, Tennessee, Alabama.) so it's almost the same as being home. I'll say Alabama, went to a cliff that my parents, aunt, and uncles used to climb and camp at all the time, idk what it's actually called but they always called it Sand Rock (take a guess what the rock is primarily made of...) it was entirely untouched when they used to go, but now there's fucking campsites and a huge pavilion there, I hate it bc the pictures my parents took made the place look so perfect and secluded, no trash anywhere. Now there's a fucking dumpster with shit leaking out of it and stupid "Beware! Cliff!" signs everywhere like no shit there's a cliff its a rock wall you idiots-

One Bullet Away - Nathaniel Fick. Probably my favorite of all time, it's so well and personally written, made me cry every time I read it.

Islands Of The Damned - R.V. Burgin. I love how simply he wrote it, like he really put his authentic self on those pages and didn't try to seem "more educated" than he was because he was just a little Texas boy and I loved that about him.

Those are really the only ones I can recall details from so I'll stick with those, but I did enjoy Helmet For My Pillow - Robert Leckie a lot, I read that in the truck while waiting for my brother to get out of class,. Generation Kill - Evan Wright was also good but it read so... grade-school-y, ya know?

Favorite thing about your culture?

The MEN- okay I'll be serious. I'm not exactly sure what my culture is since Southern culture is Black culture (no I won't fight anyone on this unless you've been here, experience life here, and looked into literally any staple of Southern culture and seen that yeah 99% of it is rooted in Black history) and I'm.... Ghostly- I love the sense of community and the general easy-going but also absolutely chaotic feel you get everywhere you go. Like yeah I could get called "baby" and "sugar" and "honey" by the sweet old cashier, and then right when I walk out of the store I could suddenly be helping some stranger pack a deer with ice and have blood all over my hands and arms, the polarity of Southern-ness is great.

I want to say two and a half years ago, not really sure though- Band of Brothers was my first watched it back to back like four times, then Gen Kill and watched that one probably four times back to back as well, then The Pacific like two or three times back to back, and now I'm suffering through MOTA.

Actually being on a job site regardless of how anxious it makes me, I've spent way too long doing what I do from home and not being a part of the installation process.

001. i'm not very active on tumblr as is, but this is all for fun & to talk about one of my favorite horror game series. don't expect me to be here 24/7 or to constantly be looking at my blog. i write and hangout here at my own leisure ♡

002. it needs to be discussed here and now. silent hill 3 has a lot of triggering themes, and deep symbolism for a lot of horrors women go through. it's the nightmare coming of age story for heather mason that involves a horrifying cult that's been tracking her down to fulfill a disturbing prophecy where she is to give birth to their god. it talks about the awful scenarios that women experience on a daily basis of being stalked, lacking say in their body & choices. these are things i will talk about here, as they're important to her story and i will not ignore the trauma she experiences. i will not roleplay a lot of those things here, but will discuss them.

additional: since heather / cheryl is the reincarnation of alessa, she also obtains pretty much the same psychic abilities, but also doesn't experience illness & pain like most humans. i'll expand later on her abilities & what makes her unique.

003. i'm not interested in shipping. i don't plan to do any romantic ships here, please don't try. depending on the timeline, heather is only 17 anyway and that's gross to ship her as a minor. anything post silent hill 3 she's 18, and that timeline is continued on into dead by daylight. i'm always for platonic relationships like platonic soulmates, or familial situations. but you'll get no romantic ships here.

004. no hatred of any kind is tolerated here. i think this is a staple in most rules, and i don't think i need to elaborate much on it as 'no hate' is very straight forward. no 'phobic' behaviors or words of any kind. my patience is limited.

005. you'll probably see me use the names heather and cheryl interchangeably. for those that aren't aware, she changes her name back to cheryl at the end of silent hill 3. in dead by daylight she's known as cheryl. both names are correct to me, i don't care what you use. i know some silent hill fans are insufferable about it but i personally don't care. i'm aware a lot of people know her mostly from dead by daylight as cheryl, and that's fine! i'm not going to be an elitist about it.

cheryl heather mason is my baby, i love her with all my heart. i obviously main her in dbd, too. OH, and boy harsher & the cure are cheryl core. i'm so excited to join the horror rpc & write one of my long time favs with you all! ♡

Growing Together Thoughts

The quality of this new expansion pack is yet to be decided because even when things have looked amazing, we know it can still flop or turn out broken. Something I have not seen a lot when it comes to the opinions circulating around the Growing Together Expansion is questioning what this pack is actually going to do. 

Now, I am a huge family gameplay simmer and have been screaming for “Generations” for years, but when My Wedding Stories was released that dream kind of faded. Then with the High School Years expansion, for me it kind of looked like Generations was going to be individualized throughout different packs. I did not mind this considering these experiences like weddings in the Sims 4 received so much more attention, even if it did release broken. My point is we have basically received Generations already. 

We put a lot of credit on the Sims 3 Generations, and it was amazing, but all it added was an upgrade to weddings, high school events, and a few broader lifetime milestones. This was great for us because we did not have ANY of that before, which is why Generations is what it is. BUT once again we have in-depth weddings. we have high schools where we can actually attend class. If a baby update and a new compatibility system is what this “Sims 4 Generations” pack is truly aiming at, I am going to be deeply disappointed. 

I generally don’t like to be negative about the Sims 4 because I enjoy playing it. I am honestly not hoping the Sims 5 comes out anytime soon because then we are starting all the way back at square one, back to waiting years for those staple gameplay pieces. However, I am bothered by the fact that the Sims team is fully milking our wants for a baby update by making us pay for an expansion pack. I know the baby update is free, but they specifically stated some features (which we know will probably be the better features) will be limited to the pack. I wouldn’t mind this as much if it was not the only damn thing this pack was marketing other than having the ability to mark another sim with a “close” or “distant” tag. What? How is that Generations? How is that an expansion pack? 

So if you say Generations already exists what do you want? 

Honestly, my ideas for how I would have wanted it are not that realistic considering the game is about to release. But if I had an opinion: 

1. Lifestage overhaul: Not just babies. Adding a pre-teen stage or at least make the teenagers look a little younger. 

2. Pregnancy overhaul: There are so many ways to go about this, while keeping it within ratings. Something as simple as fertility, like miscarriages or infertility could be so game changing. 

3. Wills, trusts, and real estate (real estate could be its own pack but thinking kind of small here): Being able to pass down your “vacation house” or old house or other items. When your teen sim ages up and moves out they receive their trust fund. AND being able to pick specifically who it goes to. Could be your child or it could be your neighbor.

I am all for a compatibility system and some attention to elders, but these are real gameplay ideas that would expand the entire game permanently, not just for a few months. THIS IS WHAT EXPANSION PACKS ARE SUPPOSED TO DO!!! And is kind of the reason I lowkey dislike the aim they took with My Wedding Stories and High School Years. They centered it too narrowly in a specific area. Yeah you still get to have better weddings, but all of your planning stuff happens in Tartosa- what if my wedding is somewhere else? Then they placed the high school in a town with barely any residential lots + most of the lots are super small. These challenges are often looked over, but they are the reason we have so much difficulty playing long-term. Seasons is implemented into every single game; in every town. It unnoticeably enhanced the way you play your game and so did Cats and Dogs. Sure there are certain parts you limit yourself to among those packs, but the main feature is most likely present in every single one of your save files. And I’m sorry, better babies is not something I wanted to see as the main gameplay feature for this pack. Before anyone comments that those suggestions I mentioned are unrealistic-there is a mod for each of them, so if a modder can do it, I know the Sims Team is more than capable of doing so.

Uncharted 4, baby! Loved it! (Nathan Drake has my heart)

For a while there, I was keeping on the Uncharted train and working through Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. However, I recently booted up Resident Evil: Village for the first time and have switched my focus over to that. (Chris Redfield also has my heart)

3. 1-3 games you’ve played in the past 12 months that you really enjoyed?

Hmm, let’s see...in no particular order...

1. Bioshock Infinite, for sure. I’ve literally have beaten the game 5 times now, with my most recent completed run being on the hardest difficulty, “1999 Mode” (complete with the tough ‘Scavenger Hunt’ Achievement’ #humblebrag), and I STILL enjoyed the heck out of it. (Booker DeWitt also, also has my heart, and Elizabeth is precious and needs to be protected at all costs)

2. Red Dead Redemption 2. I’m far from completing this game, but I love the world so much. It fun to just run around and explore and visit the towns, and such. AND THE DETAILS. THE AMOUNT OF DETAILS IS INSANE. (Arthur Morgan also, also, also has my heart)

3. Alan Wake/AW’s American Nightmare. THIS. GAME. THIS GAME LITERALLY CHANGED MY LIFE. No joke. It’s not just a game, it’s an experience. Gosh, I cannot praise it enough. The writing is just... *chef’s kiss* (Alan Wake himself may or may not also, also, also, also have my heart)

10. A console and/or handheld you’ve never played but would like to try?

There are some more modern consoles that I’ve yet to try, but since they play basically the same as some previous generation ones, I think I’m going to cheat with this question a bit and not necessarily highlight a console, but an arcade cabinet instead. There’s this one called “Carnevil”, which is basically an on-rail shooter type of game, but it takes place in a haunted, resurrected, and obviously evil carnival, run by a mad professor. (That aesthetic is just my jam, really.) It sadly has never been officially ported to any consoles, so chances of trying it are very low, but if I ever get the opportunity, I’d be one happy gal!

18. A game location you really like

Because I won’t shut up about Bioshock, I’m going to highlight the “Battleship Bay” section from Bioshock Infinite. It’s absolutely GORGEOUS and was one of the things that attracted me to the game in the first place. Seriously, that soft color palette is EVERYTHING.

28. Pick a series you like. What was the first game you played for it? Was it a good starting point? Would it still be a good starting point now?

Since I spoke about Bioshock in my last ask response, let me bring up an older series that was a HUGE staple of my late childhood/early teens: Sly Cooper (or Sly Raccoon, if you’re outside of the U.S.), I started with the first one when I was only 10, and was totally hooked! While most claim the 2nd game, Sly 2: Band of Thieves, is the best in the series, I believe playing the first one was the best starting point, and still think it is, even now. Sure, the other games may be a tad easier, and the first one may not be the most polished, it still has its charm, and sets up Sly’s motives and family history from the get go. (I still haven’t played the 4th one yet, but if I ever get my hands on a PS4 or PS5, you know I’ll give it a try!) Overall, I highly recommend this series!

30. Game you think you’ll finish next?

Given that they’re both what I’m currently focusing on, it’ll likely either be Resident Evil: Village or Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. I'm enjoying both so far!

ALIENS

Aliens are a staple of the sims games - dating back to TS2. They were brought back in TS4 thanks to it’s first expansion pack: Get To Work. While I’m happy to see them back, I feel like they could use some extra love.

ASPIRATIONS Final Frontier: This Sim wants to travel to space and learn all there is to know about Aliens. From collecting strange rocks to learning a whole new language! Reward Trait: Honorary Alien Honorary Alien: This sim knows it all! They can easily see through Alien disguises and perform their secret greetings.

Hive Mind: This Alien wants to gain followers and master their powers, reaching the top of the ranks. Reward Trait: Colony Leader Colony Leader: This Alien has climbed the ranks and can now order other Aliens to perform basic tasks such as abducting sims. CAS

Skin Tones: I would love to see them split up into the Warm, Cold & Neutral Categories. I would also love a wider range of colors: Pinks, Reds, Oranges, Yellows, Greys and Blacks. We finally got some diversity with basic sims, I’d love to see our fantasy/sci-fi sims get some of that love now too Skin Details: I think adding some patterns for them would be nice, maybe even the option of colored freckles - because who says they can’t/don’t have freckles?  Eyebrows: Has anyone ever played World of Warcraft or watch Star Trek? The Draenei and Klingons have these like ridges that I think would be cool to add as an eyebrow detail. They did a similar thing for vampires making them pop out more - or at least appear to.

Eyes: More designs and colors would be much appreciated. Eye Detail: Adding an optional third eye would also be cool. Extra Add-Ons: Horns and antennas would be another awesome add, I loved getting the hats from Journey to Batuu, but the problem is that they are just hats... Make-Up: I think having more space inspired make up would be a great start Tattoos: Either of UFOs or Pink Whales - Something! Alternatively we could get more skin patterns for them in this category. Outfits: They legit have only 2 and kills me. Both are full body suits as well. I would love if they got a few more options in more than 2/3 colors. Even just adding underwear for them would be amazing. Hair: They can have hair like other sims, but I definitely would love to see some inspired by fantasy/sci-fi characters or that look like they are inspired by space. Having more colors is another want - but that also goes to my desires for the base game so I will leave it for now.

CAREERS

Pollination Technician: Please, let my Alien sims be part of the process lol I don’t need to go to work for this one, it can be a rabbit hole, but let them get the career title and maybe even a probe to use on other sims - not just prank them with.

Test Subject: Bringing back this little option as a part-time job again would be unique to them and could be interesting for story telling POWER TREE I like some of the abilities they already have, but giving them a power tree similar to that of Vampires/Werewolves could vastly improve them. Some abilities could make it harder for sims to see through their disguises. We could get abilities to communicate with other aliens telepathically. Telekinetic abilities. I haven’t thought this one out completely, but I still feel like they could benefit from a power tree and rankings. LOT TRAITS

UFO Sightings: Sims are more likely to be abducted on these lots Extraterrestrial Experiment: This lot has some strange spores. Pregnant sims should be careful on this lot, its unkown what effects it could have on their baby. (Chance of baby being born an Alien/Hybrid)

MISCELLANEOUS  I know I want more interactions between Aliens to maybe discuss things about Sixam or Joke About Human Sims. I would love if they added a special pet on Sixam for Aliens like the Dolphin for Mermaids. Alien Fish pets would also be great. Adding another world with Alien sims living on it would be awesome. It could add a lot more alien inspired build-buy items as well. It’s kind sad that Sixam only has one lot and you can’t live on it without using Paranormal Stuff to kind of cheat it. They could even add a human sim living their among them who wears a spacesuit 24/7 and who is in the Scientist/Astronaut Career.

a companion piece to my foulques and paris misadventures post, here's foulques' family and brief backstories for all (set before 1.0):

bohort 'bors' carhaix: an elezen of seventy winters, bors is the father of tristeux and grandfather to the carhaix brood. a miner for most of his life, bors lost his wife in a freak chocobo carriage accident when tristeux was nine years of age, something his youngest son blames him for to this day. their relationship is distant at best, and estranged at worst, but the wizened elder doesn't hold it against his son. he feels guilty for his son's pain and does his best to stay out of his way whenever possible. bors lives with tristeux and his family after he grew too old to take care of his tiny homestead. he enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, especially the youngest as he always has stories to tell.

tristeux carhaix: having just seen his fifty-second nameday, tristeux works tirelessly mining in the west shroud's ore-rich caverns and teaches his young sons the family tradition that spans back generations. the youngest of nine children, tristeux lost his elder brothers in various mining accidents, and the death of his mother is a sore spot for him. for years, he blamed his father despite him having no hand in the tragedy. resentful and unable to move on, tristeux focuses his energy in keeping his family fed and sheltered, but he's frequently spotted in the hamlet tavern after a hard day's work in the mines.

isaut (née lejelle) carhaix: tristeux's wife of twenty-odd summers, this fourty-six year old elezen is the matriarch and owner of the hamlet's only bed-and-breakfast, having inherited the business from her late grandmother. a no-nonsense woman, isaut strives to be a good wife and mother while also acting as a buffer between her husband and father-in-law. she doles out chores equally amongst her children, but some might say she spoils her youngest as she tends to call him her 'surprise baby' and lets him stay close by her. she views paris as one of her own, and she became a mother figure for the young hyur.

gavain carhaix: the eldest child of the brood, gavain is a reserved young man of twenty-four summers. having worked in the mines since the age of five, his father holds gavain in high esteem as the firstborn son. but when gavain announced his plans to join the gridanian lancer's guild and become a soldier, tristeux was taken aback, but nonetheless filled with pride. wanting to give back to his community beyond chipping away for gold and silver, gavain wanted to make a difference in showing others the good qualities of duskwights. he left home at seventeen, and through blood, sweat, and tears, gavain achieved the position of a serpent officer of the twin adders. he writes back to his family often and tends to drop by every now and then if duty allows it.

linette carhaix: at twenty-three, linette is the second child and only daughter. an avid reader and songstress, linette is a staple at the tavern as she sings old hymns and songs in her people's native tongue of high gelmorran, thus keeping the dying language alive a little bit longer. she often helps her mother with housework and upkeep of the boarding house, but she dreams of leaving the boundary of the west shroud like her elder brother and finding a partner to start a family of her own. for now, she keeps her younger brothers in line with the authority only an older sister can have, but she adores them both regardless. she had a slight crush on hector, though it seemed he was oblivious to this.

keux carhaix: the second son and third child, keux is a rebellious and mulish youth of seventeen summers. while he has experience in the mines, keux took on most of the responsibility and teachings of his father after gavain left, but keux would rather be tipping cows, playing footie, or betting his gil on a game of fivestones with his father's friends. while gavain attempts to set a good example for his brothers, keux follows the beat of his own drum at his parents' chagrin. keux takes advantage of his older age and tends to taunt his youngest sibling, and he sometimes shirks off his household chores to his brother to play hooky.

foulques galath carhaix: the fourth child and baby of the brood, galath is a boy of twelve summers and a bundle of mischievous energy. doted on by his mother, galath spends the less amount of time in the mines and instead follows his mother and sister around the hamlet, curious and bright. a little fearful of his father, galath loves spending time with his grandfather. he idolizes his eldest brother and tries to impress gavain with his fighting skills whenever he comes home. he's often teased by keux for being the youngest. the only other child in the hamlet is paris, and the two have been attached to the hip since they were very young.

1. Last game you finished

Funnily enough, I just finished playing Ocarina of Time on the Switch! In my opinion, one of the best games out there hands down. It was basically my whole childhood so I can play that game front to back no problem.

2. Game(s) you’re currently playing

Currently, it's Elder Scrolls Online, and Tear of the Kingdom. Haven't finished the second one yet cause I just keep getting sidetracked in doing all the fun little side quests and collecting cool clothes. Plus the Depths is so fucking big I wanna map it all out first.

16. A game you’d like to replay that you haven’t

I'd love to replay a Pokemon game kind of. I haven't picked one up since X and Y, and while I did get Moon and have Violet/Scarlet I just don't have the same motivation/excitement for them as I did before. But maybe that'll change in the future.

17. A game you didn’t finish but would like to get back to or restart someday

Dragon Quest 8! I got that like centuries ago when it first came out, and it enraptured me and I did all the side quests and upgrades and grinding but I stopped like right before the end(?) fight and now I can't remember fuck or shit about what to do or where to go next. I'd think I would do a restart of the game and experience it all over again.

18. Pick a series you like. What was the first game you played for it? Was it a good starting point? Would it still be a good starting point now?

Legend of Zelda baby, it's my heart and soul. It's the reason I like doing puzzle games and figuring out problems. It's a cornerstone of video games and started a lot of basic features that are staples in games now that people take for granted (like a lock-on feature!). The first game I played from LoZ was Ocarina of Time so it just continues to solidify it's special place in my heart. And I think it was a great starting point, imo. As a first 3D game I played, it got me used to moving in 3D space, careful maneuvering over thin bridges, and creative thinking. And I still think it's a great starting point, any of the games are.

I think Josh Sauchak is one of my favorite examples of Explicitly Autistic Characters In Media.

Obviously, he's not a *perfect* example, because at the end of the day there are still cliches he falls into (being white, cis, pretty young, etc etc etc) but IMHO he's not insufferable, or an offensive caricature (like Sheldon - even tho they have a lot of basic similarities- or Sia's Music ™).

All that being said, here are things i appreciate in the way Josh's character was made:

1. He's an actual adult.

A lot of people who are much smarter than me talked about how shitty it is to infantilize neurodivergent people. And they're right; it annoys me to no end when people who are close to The Autistic Character™ treat them like a child, with no agency of their own. WD2 doesn't do that!

(some could argue that Sitara does it. I'd disagree; It goes with how her character is set up - she cares deeply about her friends, and goes out of her way to make sure they're okay. She's protective. Not just towards Josh, but Marcus, the Unnamed Friend from the Moscow Gambit mission, off the top of my head.)

There's only one person i can think of who explicitly infantilized Josh and treated him less like a person, and more like a pet. And that's Lenny. Y'know, someone who game tried very hard to let us know we're NOT SUPPOSED TO LIKE.

and - SPOILER - it did bite her in the ass at the end, didn't it?

2. He's a full, well rounded character.

I'll try to keep it short and sweet- the difference between Josh and Sheldon - the unholy staple of autistic characters - is that Josh doesn't feel flat. At least to me.

He does admit in one of the side missions that autism does have a huge impact on his personality. Now i couldn't find an exact quote, but after Marcus asks him whether or not he'd take part in the "experiments" being held that could supposedly "cure autism", Josh's answer is something along the lines of "only if I could go back from that. I like who i am, and i don't know if I'd like myself without it (the autism)".

Side note- it's genuinely so uplifting to see an autistic character and people around them not treating neurodivergency like some fucking curse. It happens way too often.

But yeah, going back to the point- Josh has a full, fleshed out personality. He's passionate, self aware, can be absolutely hilarious, and doesn't let other people walk over him. But he also holds himself to very high standards, and can be really harsh on himself if he doesn't meet them.

3. How he's treated by others.

I touched on that briefly before, but i simply love every interaction Josh has with others.

They treat him so normally, that in media where neurodivergent people are more often than not treated like aliens this felt extremely refreshing.

Dedsec members don't baby him as mentioned above, but they also don't get mad when he doesn't understand something, or - in his head - fucks something up.

(And honestly, that applies to everyone in Dedsec. I was so scared that the writers are gonna go for the lowest hanging fruit- do something that will make the group temporarily fall apart. But they didn't. Not when Marcus had his big fuckup at !nvite, not when Ray showed up. They stuck together. And didn't dwell on each other's mistakes.)

TLDR; it fascinates me to no end how media that treat themselves so insanely seriously fail at being inclusive, but Watch Dogs 2 - the game that took a giant U-turn from being that, after seeing how first game was received - has had some of the most genuine, heartfelt, casual representation I've seen in a long time.

Again, it's not perfect. But it's honest and down to earth. It didn't treat marginalized communities it included instrumentally.

I just love this game so much.

Damiano David is a confident man. Anyone that’s met him can see it. He knows he’s hot and he doesn’t care what other people think of him, except for you. He holds your opinion very highly and definitely cares what you think about him. So when he discovers something new about himself that he wants to try out, he is very hesitant to bring it up to you. He knows that you’d never judge him and you’d probably even be into it, but his nervousness seems to still be weighing on him. 

A few weeks ago, Damiano was scrolling through Instagram when he found a post of a man dressed in panties, arching his back and bent over, with a woman’s hand on his back pushing him down. He could feel his cheeks heat up and couldn’t help but screenshot the picture (for research purposes only of course). He didn’t know why it had such an effect on him but he decided to file that away to deal with at another time.

Days later, you were out with your friends and Damiano had the whole house to himself. He lays down on your shared bed, cuddled up in the freshly-washed sheets. He opens his phone and finds the picture his mind just won’t let go of. Without realizing it, his other hand drifts down his own body, pretending it’s the girl’s in the picture, or better yet, your hand.
