Jeff Bradshaw (September 4, 1969) A North Philadelphia-born soul-jazz and hip-hop/funk innovator and trombone virtuoso, He spent his formative years honing his chops alongside some of the biggest names both in and out of the Philly soul movement. By the time he got around to releasing his solo debut, 2004’s critically acclaimed Bone Deep, he had shared the stage with such industry luminaries as Michael Jackson, Earth, Wind & Fire, Patti Labelle, Erykah Badu, and countless others. Bone Deep made him a festival circuit mainstay, and he spent the next eight years refining his signature smooth and immediate sound in both a solo setting and in support of artists like Mary J. Blige, Jay-Z, the Roots, and Jill Scott. In 2012 he issued his sophomore long-player, Bone Appetit, which featured a host of guest artists, including Kindred the Family Soul, Raheem DeVaughn, Floacist, and Marsha Ambrosius. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence

Happy Birthday to Natalie "The Floacist" Stewart, English singer-songwriter, rapper, poet, and actress. Born and raised in London, she performed in various singing and dancing competitions as a child, and rose to fame in the early 2000s as part of R&B girl-duo Floetry. Their hiatus saw the release of Stewart’s debut album, Floetic Soul, which established her as a solo artist worldwide; which featured the singles "Forever" and "Let Me".

One Single Rose®
Rosemarie Wilson a.k.a. One Single Rose® is an award-winning poet and playwright, spoken word artist, singer, actress, filmmaker, author of three self-published poetry collections, and nice and naughty chapbooks. Rosemarie is the first poet to be filmed in Motown’s infamous Studio A and the first Motown Mic Performance Artist of the Year.
Debuting in Detroit as an actor, she has performed nationally, and internationally, in a few amazing productions. Her notable performances include singing the National Anthem at a Detroit Piston’s game, TMZ Live commentary cast member, SoFar Detroit performing artist, the Floacist’s Flovertex and Sidewalk Festivals of the Performing Arts in Detroit, MI, Kistrech Poetry Festival in Kisii and Nairobi, Kenya, Piton International Film Festival in St. Lucia, International Videopoetry Festival in Athens, Greece as well as a one-year tour in Europe.
She is currently a featured artist and songwriter dubbed “Queen Rose” with Defected Records, the United Kingdom’s #1 house music record label. Find her streaming on all platforms as One Single RoseTM or Queen Rose. She is also the first poet published under the Broadside-Lotus Press merger; two of the oldest African-American presses in the United States. As a poetry host, she has hosted various open mics as well as performed for local and international dignitaries.
Author Name: One Single Rose®
How long have you been writing? I’ve been writing officially since the second grade many moons ago when I won my very first poetry contest.
Did you ever imagine that you would be published one day? I had no idea that I would pen anything, but have been following the word as it leads ever since I relinquished my life to the word.
What made you want to become an author? I didn’t know I’d become an author. Heartache brought me to pen poetry as an adult. Before I knew it, I had a full collection.
How long have you been published? I’ve been published since 2009.
How does it feel to be published? It’s a huge accomplishment to have anything published. I feel very excited for my path and honored that the word chose me as a vessel for delivery.
Are you self-published or did you go through a publishing company? Why? I self-published my first two collections and appear in quite a few collections. As a result of winning a poetry slam, I am the first poet published under the Broadside/Lotus Press merger; two of the first African-American presses in the United States. I chose to self-publish my work for profits sakes. A 60/40 split for my intellectual property and hard work just don’t work for me.
How many books have you written? I have penned two full poetry collections, one erotic chapbook and one chapbook featuring poems about my great city of Detroit.
What is/are the name of your book(s)?
One Single Rose…Poetry Blossomed from a Rose Core
One Single Rose Out of Darkness Into Light
Pearl’s Plays
Miss Detroit®
What genre is it/are they in?
Lyrical Poetry
Spoken Word
Erotic Poetry
Inspirational Poetry
What do you feel will inspire others to never forget when they read your story(ies)? Stay true to yourself. Remember that can’t = won’t. You can do whatever you set your mind to.
What's the hardest part about writing a book? Getting started…
What's the easiest part about writing a book? Creating a storyline.
What do you enjoy most about being an author? It’s fulfilling to see my ideas on the page. The words become real when they’re staring you right in the face.
What do you enjoy least about being an author? I can’t say that I don’t enjoy anything about being an author.
What is your favorite genre to read? Is it different than the one that you write in? I enjoy reading horror stories. It’s different watching a horror story than reading one, using my imagination to show me what the author intended in lieu of seeing images on screen then having nightmares.
Where can interested readers purchase their copy of your book(s)? My work can be purchased on my website.
Do you have any future projects in the works? Is there a tentative release date? I am currently compiling a new collection from a special activity that I do at events on an old-school typewriter. I don’t want to give the idea away just yet, but it is in the works. I hope to release the book on my birthday (3-13-2024).
Do you have any social media sites that you would like to share with my readers? My website, Instagram, Facebook, and Spotify.

Floacist
Sometimes when one is being helped one can confuse it for being hurt. Sometimes when one is being told the truth one mistakes it for being offended. Sometimes what one wants is exactly what one needs to remove oneself from. Sometimes rejection is the truest blessing of them all. There is a part of one’s story that is not to be sold, but to be treasured. Let wisdom be the guide.
