xiangling: people sleep on how she gets the friendship of gods and immortals just by offering them her cooking. first guoba then xiao who’s next. is xianyun’s “coming down to the mortal world” 下凡 arc gonna be her mechanical cooking pots and xiangling having a cooking competition? place your bets now. I liked her spotlight in moonchase (her scenes w keqing, madame ping, and the food survey we did around liyue) that was incredibly cute <3 this is also really random but I like that she has a dad to whom we can talk in game, and who isn’t a shitty father

yanfei: how she fits into liyue's theme of adepti adjusting to a mortal world, and more broadly, the differences or similarities between the godly and the human. also the interesting parallels between her and ganyu. also her relationships! you can reasonably connect her to a lot of characters—the chasm gang, ganyu, ningguang, keqing, zhongli, eula, etc. and they’re all fun dynamics!! I think her relationships with her father and madame ping are neat, and the concept of signing a contract to live happily is an interesting one and it fits her storyline!! i like that she's a cool side character who presents an interesting continuation of liyue's themes <33333

xiangling: hard to remember but I thought her story quest was really random bc I accidentally triggered it and had no idea who she was. I also was peeved that I had to pass the abyss to get her bc my team was Not well built at that time lmao. now,,, i like her! she’s incredibly cool idk.i feel like she’s still written as just a passionate chef obsessed w food in game but i will give her character depth in my head because she’s sweet and deserves it

Been listening to the shin gojira soundtrack and ofc I can't help to think of childe when hearing the lyrics for Who Will Know. The first soprano verse i think of his childhood self in the abyss. Then when the bass verse comes in on the second repeat of the first I think of his new self putting the old to rest by carrying on in the face of what almost to anyone else ever would be unbeatable adversity.

DUDE EVEN LIKE "I wear a void" HIS CAPE.... THATS HIS CAPE ISHFNFJF. "A shaft of light is all I need to cease rhe darkness killing me" FINDING AN EXIT BACK TO TEYVAT... CELESTIA DELIVERING HIM A VISION... LIKE THE DOTS ARE CONNECTING THEMSELVES.

It also makes me think of an idea where his abyssal powers have grown more and he's closer than ever to being something godlike (the use of like is mportant here) but at the cost of continous suffering. In Shin, gojira's crazy nuclear waste-mutated biology makes it possible for him to evolve in real time at insane speed to combat the humans trying to kill him, but it's not really a conscious choice, it's his body forcing him to live under constant new stressors. Perhaps childes ascent in power comes at a similar price? I'm not thinking exactly the same since Shin's story is very much like its own and not something to be directly transferred to childe character. But the feelings of despair and desperation, continuing to live through agony because what else can you do, what else could there be that is any more painful? That could very well be Ajax's story in the abyss.

Basically this is all just a big excuse to daydream childe growing into a super awesome disgusting foul legacy (which you could make a connection to shin again that this form is the visual representation of how the powers which manipulate teyvat have hurt the world and who's actions could lead to its destruction (the recipe of events which led to the creation of whatever childe becomes) but maybe that's a bit much considering this gets into even more ambiguous and self catering hc territory LOL)

But really I just want to imagine him being a tragic figure who can also cause so much damage and have cool powers that make him suffer MOAR. I'm not usually big on whump but I do love a character suffering while still being very powerful and destructive huehue.

I would love to write a fic that expresses this connection to/inspiration from Who Will Know but I'm not sure how I would approach it/what it would even be. So i run kaeya with cg right? Do i look for higher atk stat or upping my cdmg as much as i can? I only do about 5-7k nas and 11k e's when they crit TT

oh sorry i didn't notice this ask, i'm answering so late

first of all, "running kaeya with cg" is not enough info, what kind of team are you running. there are like dif teams for dif purposes

1. kaeya freeze is good for sustain dps, overworld content with groups of freezable enemies. i personally like farming mats with that team. kaeya - cg - hydro - anemo on VV. apply cryo, swirl cryo with anemo to get VV shred and also group enemies, hydro, cg E, kaeya burst, auto attack. the goal is not do 100K on single auto attack, which like. You won't. My ayaka on mistsplitter does like 9-10k on na. The goal is to have sustain dps, with kaeya burst and auto attacks being damage. this generally shreds freezable grouped enemies in seconds. Esp if you have kazuha who can group and add buffs, my kaeya's e does like 14 on crit unbuffed and ~30k buffed. also, this team doesn't need you to build both kaeya and cg for damage, it only needs one character on field. its generally kaeya bc cg is claymore and shatters freeze. like idk how shatter centered teams are supposed to work, google if you want, but then kaeya probs should be off-field. the point is that you only need one of them on blizzard set built for damage and be the one auto-attacking. my cg is literally lvl 60 on noblesse with sac greatsword. for the stats, since its freeze and you should be on blizzard, you can have super low crit rate, esp if you have kaeya C1 that gives +15% free crit rate against cryo-ed enemies. So generally 20-30% crit rate from substats is gonna guarantee actual like 90-100% crit rate with cryo res and blizzard buffs, which gives you space to build BOTH crit dmg and attack. like the more you have of both the better. Generally good freeze build should have like at least 2k attack and 200%+ crit dmg

2. against the unfreezable enemies like bosses or in content that requires a lot of DPS, melt is actually a popular meta team that can 9 star abyss. it literally carried my dehya asdfgh. anyway, its cryo-cryo-pyro-pyro, usual variation is kaeya-rosaria-bennet-xiangling, but you probs can play cg instead of rosa? idk haven't tried, but don't see why not. i use ganyu burst instead for second cryo and sometimes kazuha, but need to be careful that the burst infuses with right element. for melt you don't want 4piece blizzard, bc enemies won't be frozen obviously, and you want EM as well as attack, and higher crit rate. 4 piece gilded dreams can be good, or 2 piece blizzard 2 piece EM set, like gilded or wanderer. Everyone should have AT LEAST 100 EM.

3. hyperbloom + cryo. you just take a hyperbloom team and use kaeya as on-fielder. this team is unironically so good against enemies that can be frozen, like i absolutely refuse to fight the consecrated beasts with anything else. this abyss i just played kaeya hyperbloom on one side and ganyu hyperbloom on the other on first chamber bc FUCK them shits. hyperbloom is broken and easy to build, and freeze adds so much comfort on top of that.

tldr kaeya freeze is a comfy brainded team for groups of enemies, like overworld exploration and farming, its purpose is not do nuke numbers on a single attack, but sustain dps against helpess frozen enemies. kaeya melt is high dps team that can do big nuke numbers and is good on bosses and abyss.

Hell - What was that place, anyway?

Some would describe it as an infinite ocean of flames and lava, where it's eternally melting-hot, and a bunch of hooved, horned, tailed red demons torture you with acid, with their red pitch forks, or boil you alive in their cauldron for soup. Or maybe you just get tortured by Stalin, who knows?

But never would have anyone thought that 'Hell' could look so...Normal. Well, normal in a very demolished, desolate, ravished way, but still...Normal, by human standards. Albeit, the never-ending loop of madness, anguish, agony and desperation of getting killed in different gruesome ways or fleeing for their lives and feeling a myriad of emotions pumping adrenaline through their veins so badly that their anxiety-meter skyrocketed to abnormal levels.

All this darkness, this hatred, this...Everything...It changed all the survivors. They became selfish, stubborn, rude, some even went as far as to sacrifice their fellow survivors in trials, just so they could survive. It was a complete mayhem that defied all kinds of reason, normality, morality or even ethics. Everyone became devoid of any laws that used to bind them to their humane sides, and now, you weren't sure if the killers were saner than the survivors or not.

But even in this abyss where you couldn't even see your hand in front of your very eyes, there was a little star - A beautiful angel radiating brightness and warmth, someone who was somehow able to guide everyone's straying souls with her benevolence.

In reality, she was merely a survivor, not the little lantern from an angler fish's head, but she treated everyone with such an untainted kindness...It was beautiful, and yet, unrequited for most parts. Everyone was still putting their own lives above all - And who could condemn them? - Perhaps their cowardice, for the girl preferred to save her fellow survivors as much as possible, even if that oftentimes assured her place on the hook, to be a sacrificial lamb for the Entity.

On the other hand, she rarely ended up on the hook - Most killers prefer to kill her themselves, instead of letting her become pray for the horrible Entity who tortured so many of them for refusing to cooperate - The Trapper, Evan MacMillan - He knew the best, with those hooks digging into his flesh, impossible to extract. He was the first to protect this girl. It wasn't much, but if he had to, he'd rather give her a swift, painless death, than seeing her without that serene, angelic smile on her face, as the Entity feeds on the last bits of her soul's beauty, the last parts of her humanity.

The other Killers were confused at the Trapper's actions, but little by little, they began to understand why this girl was so precious and special - And this domino effect hit Rin Yamaoka next, with Y/N stopping in the middle of a chase and taking off her jacket, just as Rin was about to butcher her with her katana, and she smiled, extending it to her. 'You must be cold' she said, realising that the Spirit was merely wearing a few bandages, not even her school uniform, or her kimono.

The ghost girl was shaken up by this, and told the others at the killer camp, but they just shrugged it off - Rin was a little girl who faced close to no kindness, they weren't surprised she was so taken aback by such a feat. That is, until Adiris, in a particularly terrible day, when everyone at the camp was staying away from her, as her profane censer wasn't able to cover the stench of rotting flesh - Y/N came over, taking out a small yet elegant glass bottle with pink liquid on it, spraying some on her - And now, The Plague smelled of roses and vanilla - 'You can come to me for perfume whenever you want, I always carry some with me!' she grinned at the Babylonian High Priestess, before leaving back to the survivor's camp site, leaving the ancient God symbol to stare with her mouth agape at the girl.

These words began to spread, and it was no surprise when the killers saw Susie clinging and begging her Legion friends to spare Y/N, for she was there to hug away her worries more than once, to tell her sweet words, to play with her hair and play the guitar whatever songs she wanted to hear, to get reminded of her home - She was so home sick that she freaked out, but now she was better, thanks to Y/N - 'I know you miss home, but sometimes, home is where your best friends are, and all three of them are here!' she tried to encourage the cute pink-haired girl who could only squeal and hug her new friend.

Even Ghostface wasn't exempt from falling to her charms, and they would often take silly selfies and mess around, making fun of the old horror movie tropes and doing lots of puns and pranks - So much that she even got his trust to be told about the Danny/Jed thing, and how he began his killer profession - 'You're a very talented photographer, Danny! You deserved all that recognition you got, both as a journalist, and as a killer!'

And very soon, Y/N found herself in the crushing arms of an overprotective Anna, humming her mother's lullaby together with walking through the forest, Y/N making flower crows for all the female killers at the camp site, and little by little, she somehow managed to worm her way under everyone's skins.

Y/N was the survivor with the highest survivability percentage, and maybe the Entity sometimes got pissed off, but at least she still got killed sometimes, so who cares? Well, that was soon to change as soon as a new Killer was added to this sick game - Pyramid Head, the terror of Silent Hill, as Cheryl, the new Survivor, called him - or The Executioner, as he was known now. He was ruthless, merciless, grotesque - He had his own criteria of killing, his own moral compass, ethics, conscience and understanding of the concept of life and death. Nothing that could compare to the visions of humans, clearly - Everything was gravitating around Divine Retribution and Justice, but the from the outside, he was nothing but a killing machine.

He would kill everyone and anyone that crosses his path, without fail.

Y/N felt like her fortune ended completely the second she found herself in the new, overly cramped map, with Pyramid Head as the killer - She couldn't help but run around like a spazzic meerkat, trying to find and fix as many generators as possible, without having to get face to face with the walking hazard...

Only to run past a stuck Pyramid Head.

Slowly backtracing her steps, she saw the mountain of a man with his metal pyramid stuck in the frames a low window which he tried to walk over. He was trashing like a raged bull trying to attack a matador, but it was clear he was getting nowhere with this.

"H-Hey, u-uhm...Need some help?" she asked in a soft, careful voice, almost like a meek cat trying to test the waters, but in return, he started groaning even louder from the wrath he wanted to unleash upon the whole world. "Okay, uhm...I think I saw a can of vaseline in one of the chests around. I'll go fetch it and I'll come back for you. Don't move." she said, only to then realise how horrible that sounded, considering the situation, and it only seemed to anger the killer. "...I'm sorry, ignore me, I'm an idiot." she slapped herself pretty harshly before bolting out of there trying to find the chest.

However, Y/N cursed herself for not having perfectly memorised the whole map by heart already, since she found the vaseline can after the 3rd chest, and then, it took quite a while to find the bloody window that got the killer stuck - And by the time she got there, she was dead tired. "Okay, I'm here, I found the vaseline! Let's try to get you out of here." Y/N muttered as she put her feet on the low window pane to get to his level. "If it's not too much trouble, could you please hold onto me? I can't balance myself with both hands occupied, and I'd rather not fall." she explained as she opened the vaseline can, only to shiver as she felt two big, strong hands getting a firm grip on her hips. It was almost...Endearing, were she not too busy trying to get the killer unstuck. She kept massaging the metal edge, trying to push and pull, also praying to whatever deity that existed in her human world that she had her tetanus shot done on time - Until finally, she was able to get hear a loud screech, like a pop, and the killer got unstuck, and in the process, he stumbled backwards, while Y/N fell down on her butt.

"Ouchie..." she muttered, rubbing her back and sides to take away the pain surging through her body. "Are you okay?" she asked, almost intuitively, without realising it at first, until she heart a low grunt that brought her back to reality. "O-Oh...! You have glass shards stuck in your side! And you're bleeding too! Hold up, let me help." she hurried to his side, while the killer merely stiffened, feeling her delicate, slender fingers tracing his body, while he heaved and slouched his shoulders from the repressed wrath. "It may sting a bit, and I'm really sorry, but I promise it will be better soon." her voice was so motherly and warm, which also resonated in her actions, as she gingerly took a water bottle and imbued some tissues with it, to wipe away the blood smearing down his skin as she extracted the glass shards, and then..."This is grandma's marigold ointment. It's really good, and it smells nice." she explained as she carefully smeared a thick layer of the yellow ointment on the biggest wounds, while the little ones were covered by smiley-flower patterned plasters. They were cute, and colourful, and they never failed to make her smile. "Okay, there we go, all better! I hope you'll feel better very soon!" her voice got a tiny bit more cheerful and upbeat.

It made the Killer think about a trillion things, as he stepped in front of her, towering over her like the Empire states building next to a smiling pomeranian. What was with this girl? Why did she help a killer? And why did he feel so...Warm inside? He could sense a foreign kind of luminosity, a naivite and innocence that he only witnessed in children and animals. This woman in front of him was untainted by the darkness and evil of the world.

It didn't matter how many hardships she's been through, or how much sadness she had to endure - Her soul remained as pure as any snowdrop, as the first snow of winter, as the fleece of a baby lamb who let out its first 'meeeeh' to its mamma sheep.

He couldn't allow this human to be maimed in any way - Not by the world, not by the Entity, and certainly not by him. - Screw the Entity, Pyramind Head kills by his own rules, and now, he was blessed to be faced with a human who bore no real hatred for her peers, or for the world, despite the horrible situation she was thrown into.

He didn't understand, obviously, especially as he remembered the myriad of abominations that lurked through Silent Hill, all of them created by the torment of humans - The very torment that distorted their own reality, which resulted in him needing to solve the purpose as The Executioner - Eradicating the world of all evil.

"Th-This sword is so heavy...H-How can you carry this around like that...?! Your muscles must be so strained and sore...Y-You really need a massage, I'm sure." she stuttered as she tried to lift the much taller and heavier sword from the ground, only for the brute to simply bend and pick it up with extreme ease, putting the girl to shame with her complete lack of strength. "Hehe...You're really strong. I'm embarrassed now." she chuckled softly, scratching the back of her neck.

Before she could leave or do anything else, Pyramid Head picked her up by the throat, careful not to hurt her or restrict her air intake - I mean, how else was he supposed to carry her so he wouldn't hurt her with his metal head or sword? - and it was pretty clear she didn't feel any malevolence from him, as she clinged on his forearm, trying to keep herself up, only to be dumped on top of the hatch, as the killer pointed towards it, so she would leave.

"O-Oh...! Thank you so much! You're really kind! I really appreciate this...I-I know it probably doesn't matter much to you, since you'll be doing this over and over again with all the survivors...But I really appreciate you for your kind gesture, and I appreciate you for being so nice with me. Thank you. Take care!" her dazzling smile lit the whole place up, but he couldn't talk, nor could he tell her how he should be the one thanking her for showing him that, despite the hundreds and thousands of years he had to roam the 'Earth' and execute the injust, miracles still existed.

As soon as she reached the survivor's camp, everyone cheered for her, asking how in the world could she have escaped the wrath of the butcher. "Oh, but he wasn't that bad. In fact, he's much more humane than I anticipated! I think he has a beautiful, blooming heart!" okay, she's lost it - the other survivors thought - but even so, she's always been a bit...Out of it, so who cares?

It took quite a while for the other three survivors to reach the camp, all bloody, in fact, like the new killer, who dragged himself with the same menace to the Killers' camp. "How the hell did you manage to survive?!" they yelled at her in utter shock, seeing that she got out of there unscratched. "Oh, you see...I found the hatch." she shrugged simply, not wanting to give away that the person who massacred those three was a soft one and he basically threw her down the hatch to her safety.

As she took a twig to roast a marshmallows, she noticed how Pyramid Head was standing much farther away from the rest of the killers - She knew that silent killers were bound to stay away from the more obnoxious one, remembering how Michael Myers almost killed Ghostface and The Legion at least a dozen times - But this time...He seemed kinda...Lonely? So Y/N took the matters into her own hands, roasted another marshmallow in another twig, and when it was done, she went to the killer's camp, calling out the lonely one's name - She has no idea why, but he actually followed her, pushing her further deep into the forest, until he was sure nobody was going to hear, see or interrupt them...

"Hey. You seemed pretty lonely out there...I thought you could use a friend. Thank you again for what you did at the trial...Here, this is a marshmallow. I don't think you've had many before...Cheryl told me of that horrible place you had to live in...So I hope this will make your day a bit better!" Y/N extended one of her hands towards him, so he could take the marshmallow - And a long, black tongue erupted from underneath the pyramid, snatching away the fluffy marshmallow and gulping it in one go.

What the hell was he turning into?

A towering man built of pure muscle, wrath and divine justice, with a pyramid representing the evil of humanity burdening his body, and a sword taller and heavier than the average human being constantly dragged in one of his hand...He now was a slave to a cute, innocent girl who was putting flower plasters on his minuscule wounds that would heal in a heartbeat regardless - He saved this girl who was now offering his these soft, squishy things that tasted overly sugarly, just like her upbeat and cheerful personality - If he could eat her, he was sure she would taste even sweeter than this - A sickish kind of sweet, that is.

She was indeed a beautiful angel in this tragic hell. But he didn't wait to snatch the second marshmallow either.

"Ah...! You liked it, didn't you? Well...Next time, I promise I'll give you more!" she grinned at him the same way a princess would to her chivalrous knight who saved her. The since he couldn't talk, silence took over them - It wasn't an uncomfortable one, per se, but it made it feel as if the conversation was over. "W-Well...I'll guess I'll see you around! Take care and I hope to see you again soon!" she waved cutely, trying to turn around back to her camp, only to feel a rough hand on her shoulder, turning her around and urging her to stop and wait for him and he went deep into the forest, leaving her alone and undefended by the potential malevolent forces of the forest.

When he returned, however, he stepped right in front of her, creating the perfect shade as he towered over her - Then he kneeled in front of her, so he would reach her eye sight, then he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and put a beautiful pink flower - As pink as the blush that started creeping on her face - He wanted to see her luminous face better, to highlight her dazzling smile and her glimmering eyes as the warm, silver light of the mother moon caressed her face.

Y/N felt her heart picking up the pace - It was beating so much faster than ever before - But this time, it wasn't out of fear or anything negative...It was something good. Something she never felt in her life, especially with her human acquaintances from back home. None was as chivalrous and gentle with her as this butcher of tormented souls - The bringer of justice, the merciless Executioner who was supposed to end the life of every living being that would cross his path.

It was insane how every Yin finds its Yang, even if that comes in the form of a little lamb of a small, frail girl, and a huge abomination of a brute man who knows nothing but death, bloodshed and carnage. It was truly crazy how opposites attract, and here she was, holding the killers large hands and gingerly putting them on her face, leaning into his touch - She felt safer now than ever in her life - Now, in the arms of an ancient killer.

An Angel and A Demon brought together in a perfect union.

As she leaned down, she touched the metal of the pyramid where she anticipated his forehead would be with her own forehead, and closing her eyes, she finally felt herself calming down. There was no need for words, actions spoke louder than anything, and she appreciated it...She appreciated him.

"Thank you." she whispered to him, knowing that yes, even though nobody else would hear it anyway, it was much more intimate than anything she ever experienced.

She was hooked.

I've been rewatching all the Loki content to get ready for the new show and I have thought of A Phineas and Ferb AU™ for your viewing pleasure (and if anyone wants to turn any part of this into an actual fanfic I would owe you my life)

You know how the first Thor movie ends with Loki yeeting himself off the Bifrost and falling to earth? What if, instead of going after the Tesseract, he falls straight to the Tri-State area?

Jane, Darcy, and Selvig all seemed to be on vacation, right? So Thor presumably took place during the summer — say, perhaps, ending on June 3? So he falls right onto Phineas and Ferb's rollercoaster just before it goes down that ♫ three-mile drop straight down ♪. He has no idea wtf is happening so it's not like he gets the chance to sit down and put on a seatbelt, so he's stuck holding on for dear life for the entire rollercoaster ride which Phineas and Ferb find weird but they're not really concerned bc they're chill lil dudes and tbh this isn't too far off a normal day for them.

Phineas and Loki strike up a none-too-pleasant conversation (not that Phineas notices Loki's bad mood; he's too Him to realize not everyone is rainbows and sunshine all day, every day), and our favorite lil disoriented demigod has to figure out where the fuck he is now ("You there. What realm is this?" "Danville 🙂" "Wut da fuk?") and what the fuck he's supposed to do now that he's here.

Phineas ends up inviting him to hang out for the afternoon, and Loki is about to turn him down but then he smells the pie. He's never had doonkleberry pie before so obviously he has to try it. Then, when Loki's no longer hangry, they can hold an actual conversation. It's lowkey more Loki wallowing in his own self-pity than anything else, but Ferb recognizes Asgard when Loki mentions it so he and Phineas piece together that he's a god pretty quickly.

More importantly, though, they figure out that he's completely alone, and because Loki never mentions trying to, you know, murder his brother and lowkey overthrow the monarchy, they just kinda assume Loki's family sucks (Ferb is completely prepared to start the anti-Thor club but Phineas stops him because he doesn't want his brother to get struck by lightning) and adopt him (without his consent, but it's not like he has anywhere else to be -- and he did like that pie).

Loki has no desire to build anything with the boys He thinks the idea of a backyard beach they make the next morning is stupid — even more stupid than a regular beach, and that's saying something. But over time, he gets more involved -- not just with the boys, but with the entire family. He helps the boys build their inventions. He talks about human history with Lawrence and corrects much of his knowledge on mythology. He lets Linda teach him how to bake seriously, her pies are so good. He even suffers through Candace's mall trips as long as he gets to go to that fro-yo place on the second floor (though he draws the line at any conversation involving romance).

He's still a little skeptical of the platypus (and he feels like the platypus is a little skeptical of him, too) but Phineas insists that he's "just a platypus" and he "doesn't do much." Loki doesn't realize that Perry's keeping an eye on him for OWCA, nor does he know that Monogram has absolutely no idea what to make of the dude so he hasn't actually told any of his superiors about him. As far as the government is concerned, after the fiasco in New Mexico, Loki just disappeared.

This makes it fucking hilarious when the boys accidentally steal the superheroes' powers in Mission: Marvel and the superheroes show up at the Flynn-Fletchers' front door only to see fucking Loki. Loki just shuts the door in their faces without a word because what the fuck?, but eventually Phineas and Ferb go check the door and they agree to help the heroes (much to Loki's chagrin), which, of course, isn't complete with Candace fangirling over them (also much to Loki's chagrin; she never fangirled over him). At first the Avengers are fully convinced that Loki is responsible for stealing their powers, and Loki never actually denies it because he's a little shit but Phineas, Ferb, and their friends are very insistent that Loki didn't do anything (except a little bit of manual labor putting together the satellites because they're 10 and he's a whole-ass demigod).

At some point, Thor and Loki have a very heated discussion about the events of Thor, and it's pretty much all news to the Flynn-Fletchers and their friends. They're not really sure what to make of it so they basically glue their mouths shut and watch it all play out. I'd like to think it goes something like it does in The Avengers and that a) Thor is pissed because what the fuck have you been up to Loki you fucking dumbass, b) Thor has been in mourning since Loki yeeted himself into the abyss and he wants to make sure the guy knows it, and c) Loki does not take it seriously at all he's being antagonistic the entire time because he is so sick of Mr. High-And-Mighty's shit. In the end, Loki storms out of the SHEDquarters and Phineas doesn't even think to try to stop him until he's halfway out the door and it's too late.

He shows up again when Phineas, Ferb, and the Avengers try to fight the bad guys in the mall with the wrong powers and he basically singlehandedly saves their asses until superhero Perry shows up. As everyone's favorite shapeshifter, he has absolutely no problem figuring out that this beaver duck dude is the Flynn-Fletchers' platypus. He has no idea what to do with that information, but it sure is information that he now has apparently. (At this point, poor Loki has a very warped sense of what earth is supposed to be like lmao).

Phineas tries to get Loki to come back with them after superhero Perry grabs them and carries them home. Instead, Loki cuts himself loose and falls like 30 feet straight down (and tbh after falling from the Bifrost, that's nothing to him) and peaces the fuck out.

Loki ends up accidentally bonding with Candace and Isabella over feeling useless and unwanted (and he absolutely gets his own verse in Only Trying to Help because it's what he deserves), but unlike the two girls who are hell-bent on changing that, Loki is content wallowing in his own self-pity. He's tried this whole "being important" thing before and he ended up in self-exile for it. He's not putting himself through it again because he really doesn't expect it to end well. But then the powerless heroes decide to face the villains again, and with Candace and Isabella in space and Perry nowhere to be seen, he realizes it is once again up to him to keep the tri-state area safe (which he knows is a stupid priority but he's gotten kind of attached to these stupid little humans and he wants to keep them safe).

Then the heroes get their powers back and they join Loki (and Perry and the mysterious waffle gun in the sky) and beat the shit out of the villains. Thor and Loki work together in the heat of the battle which serves as a Great Bonding Moment™, and once the villains are gone, they have a nice lil heart-to-heart where they both apologize for their past. Thor remarks that Loki seems to have grown a lot over the last couple of months and tries to bring Loki home with him, but Loki refuses. He'll never be welcome back into Asgard, no matter what Thor may say.

But he is welcome with the Flynn-Fletchers, who are completely over the fact that he tried to ruin Thor's life and take his not-so-rightful place on the throne (except Candace who's very skeptical about having him back but it's not like Linda will believe her if she tries to tell her what Thor and Loki talked about so her opinion is unfortunately as irrelevant as it usually is on the show).

And early the next morning, before anyone else is awake, Perry gets an alert that he's needed in his headquarters (presumably to talk to or about Fury). He quietly sneaks off, only to find Loki waiting at the bottom of the stairs for him. They have a very nice "conversation" (not that Perry speaks) about the superhero Ducky Momo they saw the day before, and Loki assures him that his secret is safe, thus starting a much-needed bromance between Loki and Perry because it's what my babies, goddammit!

Anyways yeah if anyone wants to write a fanfic about Loki hanging out with Phineas and Ferb during his self-exile I would give you a socially distant high-five because I want to read it but I have too many other fanfics on my plate to start this one for at least a few months. It doesn't have to follow this prompt literally at all (I swear I wasn't trying to get this in-depth with it but this is what I do apparently) or it can follow this prompt exactly idc i just want a PnF/Loki fanfic 🥺

i can officially say i finished cindered shadows on hard difficulty/classic mode (and no one died!) so im gonna rank the maps in terms of difficulty and originality now, worst to best.

7. chapter 1 mission: a skirmish in the abyss

this map ranks last for me because it is an introductory map and therefore standard both in design and difficulty. your units are level 20 and the enemy around 27, but that gap persists throughout the entire story and doesn't really distinguish the map from the others.

originality: 5/10. it's a new map but it's not used to its full potential, and doesn't offer anything new.

difficulty: 5/10. fine enough for a beginner's map but nothing compared to the other maps in the game. mostly you have to get used to not having the units and gambits you would usually choose for a mission like this.

number of tries: 1

6. chapter 5 mission: besieged in the chapel ruins

for some reason they put in this really easy map while you're already halfway through the story, where you'd expect the maps to only become more difficult as you progress. the map design itself is used in the main game and therefore familiar, and the enemies and their placement on the map are nothing special. there are no reinforcements, and metodey has nothing powerful going for him and can easily be taken out with 1-2 units without taking any damage yourself. the map goes exceptionally easy on you by allowing you to spawn monsters that distract the enemy and make it easier to move around and kill them off, and the monster in balthus' corner doesn't stand a chance against him either, even though he is alone.

originality: 5/10. it's a rehashed map. also i think metodey is the dumbest character in the game bc he only ever shows up to die.

difficulty: 6/10. if you mind your unit placement well at the beginning of the map and use gambits properly you have nothing to worry about, though i'd recommend giving dimitri a cavalry effective lance.

number of tries: 1

5. chapter 7 mission: a beast in the cathedral.

this map is. not hard for a final battle. if you break the umbral beast's entire barrier on the turn you engage in combat with it for the first time, he never regenerates it and can be attacked from all sides. it does not prevent him from performing umbral rage every three (?) turns, but if you notice that he'll unleash it the next turn, you just have to make sure that all your units have enough hp to weather it. that's not all that difficult because the phantom aelfrics all carry concoctions as loot. if you take the aelfrics out every turn with 4 units designated to the task, you can use your most powerful units to whittle down the umbral beast's HP turn by turn. my strategy was to have a unit with high hp use a gambit, so they would be targeted for the next turn, and then let 2-3 other units attack and take damage. the next turn they can retreat and heal because the unit who used the gambit is targeted and will therefore be attacked and take the damage. rinse and repeat. edelgard and dimitri have monster effective attacks and byleth and hilda are crit machines, you don't need much more than them for the beast itself. originality: 7.5/10. it's a standard final boss battle, but the umbral beast's design is really cool and the soundtrack fucking slaps. the umbral rage affecting everyone on the map and changing everyone's positions is a very nice touch, keeps you on your toes. the map itself is new but not unique, apart from its small size.

difficulty: 6/10. once you figure out the attack pattern the map is nothing special and becomes kind of a drag.

4. chapter 2: ambush in the arena.

what makes this map difficult are obviously the almost endless reinforcements. new map design, units are split up at first, and you have to really mind placement bc the map is not very big.

originality: 7/10. the fun part about this map is that you get to try out the ashen wolves for the first time. the map itself is not necessarily the most inspiring design, but it makes ample usage of special tiles which i think the maps in the main game lack.

difficulty: 7/10. the endless reinforcements and the small size of the map force you to keep coming up with new strategies and carefully mind the placement of your units - also because enemies will go and stand on special tiles and make your life very difficult (assassins on avo tiles...). however i think the usage of seemingly endless reinforcements to make a map more difficult is kind of cheap, and it gets annoying very fast.

5. chapter 6 mission: the rite of rising.

this battle is pretty difficult, but its lynchpin are the three mages in the middle and if you take them out on the first two turns (i put byleth in their range with retribution and a killing edge) the map kind of busts open and most of the fight is relatively standard after that. aelfric is very difficult to deal with even after you cancel the vortexes, however, especially because he has access to meteor and there is no way to get him off that healing tile since gambits simply will not hit him with a hit rate of 20-25. i had hilda tank him twice (because of her high hp) to remove his meteor and reduce his range, and even after that it still took dimitri using a combat art with a silver lance and byleth using ruined sky to take him out.

originality: 7/10. the double objective of dealing with the vortexes and then taking out aelfric is nice, even if it doesn't really matter that they suck out the wolves' hp. you don't really need to use them until after you've cancelled the vortexes and if you give them concoctions before you start the battle you're good. however, it was not entirely clear to me that you could move your units off of the vortexes which meant i couldn't use dimitri on aelfric the first time around and had to restart the map specifically bc i couldn't take him out fast enough bc of the turn limit. that might have just been me misunderstanding the map tho lmao. this map also uses special tiles again, though def/res tiles are less interesting to me than avo tiles.

difficulty: 8/10. again, the map becomes relatively standard once you've taken out the first three mages, but by no means easy. there are a lot of enemies with gambits, and the priest at the end of the map has a pretty big healing range, so you have to take enemies out in one turn. gambits are definitely your friend on this map (except when it comes to aelfric).

number of tries: 2

6. chapter 3 mission: search for the chalice.

this map made me so mad. if there is one thing worse than endless reinforcements, it's endless reinforcements that happen to be golems. the modified golems are a pain to deal with in and on themselves, and it's made infinitely worse by the smaller golems stacking up on you while you're trying to deal with the big ones. the first time around i'd ignored most of the units on the left side of the map, and then when i flipped the lever on the right side of the map (the one that spawns an extra golem), they came all the way down to me while my movement was reduced. made sure to tease out those enemies on my next try and let them come to me at the start of the battle instead of the end.

originality: 8/10. the map is just a big field with some forests (which do offer some nice defensive terrain), but the idea that your main enemy is golems, instead of 'extra foes' you can either deal with or ignore, is pretty cool. spawning new enemies/reducing your movement when you flip the lever is a nasty curveball to throw you at the end of a map, but it does make for an interesting fight.

difficulty: 9/10. as said, the sheer number of golems you have to deal with makes this map difficult as hell in my opinion. the big ones do insane damage, and the smaller ones are not so difficult by themselves but when there are 2 or three of them, you have to start planning how you are going to use your limited number of gambits very carefully. the reduced movement range when you flip the levers also forces you to think really well about where you're going to put your units and how you're going to deal with new phantoms.

7. chapter 4 mission: a harrowing escape

i HATE it here this map is terrible - in the sense that it is really well designed but if you make a single mistake anywhere you're pretty much done for. this is the only map i ended up actually reading a guide for just to know when and where i could expect reinforcements or other unexpected things popping up (like a whole ass golem) and still it was hellish. there were moments i had to use divine pulse to basically rewind two entire turns because i misplaced a unit somewhere and that turned out to be crucial way later on. if you don't have a strategy planned out for the next five turns at all times you're pretty much done for. when i beat this i felt like god.

originality: 9/10. as far as i know this is the only timed escape map in the game, and unlike chapter 1, it makes good use of the new abyss map. it's also nice that it has multiple stages, and every stage presents a new set of problems to you: first it's a golem chasing you while there's overpowered enemies that you should avoid as much as possible on every side, then there is another golem and a set of reinforcements, and then when you think you're off the hook you're presented with a veritable army as you cross the last checkpoint before the end of the map - and all that while you have a limited number of turns. the downside is that the sheer unpredictability of every checkpoint and the type and number of reinforcements makes it pretty much impossible to clear this map in one go, even with the usage of divine pulse (if you managed to do that i think you're actually god or something).

difficulty: 10/10. this is by far the most difficult map in the game. the sheer variety of problems it presents that you have to solve is insane, and every single enemy is overpowered. if the game did not offer you the boon of introducing new bandits halfway through that start to engage the golem/reinforcements and stall them, i think this battle would be impossible to win. also, the map gives you information that maybe works out fine on normal mode, but is a death sentence on hard mode: opening the gate at the start of the map is the worst decision you can make, because that means the golem can follow you and every single enemy on the right side of the map starts to gang up on you. if everyone goes through the door, they'll just stay put. it took me two tries to figure that out, and then another try to figure out how to deal with the next room and the golem/reinforcements.

number of tries: 4

all in all i think the dlc maps offer a nice variety of battles and take a bunch of the good stuff from the main game and incorporate it explicitly in the gameplay, though i do think the order in which the maps are played in terms of difficulty is a bit random

Okay. Can I just like ramble about today/stuff for a minute? Literally no one even has to read this I just want to express myself somewhere and I feel like I’m annoying my friends lately so I choose to ramble on into the abyss of he Internet.. read of you want or not but you can and we can chat but also no pressure 🙃

So anyway- we’re going to quickly fly over the fact that this past week has been so insanely rough and hard and challenging and dark and all the bad things. Just lots of crying and sulking and sadness tbh. But things were getting okay-er then I had my first appointment with a Physical Therapist today and I was sooo extremely anxious before hand. Literally texted my friend an sos bc I felt a panic attack coming on in the car outside the building. But I made it through and the POINT OF ALL THIS…

Idk why I was so anxious going into the appointment - I mean I could give you like 50 possible little reasons but truly I’m just an anxious person - but y’all, it was such a good appointment. Like when I tell you I have been in such a good mood since I left and honestly can’t wait to go back. Except for the fact that it is costing a fortuneeee 🙃

And I’ve been thinking about it a lot and trying to figure out why my mood flipped so easily.. a few things maybe? 1. Hope that I won’t be in pain forever. 2. It just reallllly felt good to be around people. Which sounds odd but I haven’t been around people that aren’t family since this summer…? And that was just on vacation so still limited interactions. It was so nice- which brings me to 3. My physical therapist was SO nice. And not in like a Mickey Mouse overly nice kind of way- he still joked around and stuff- but that was even better. Like I think he could sense I was a little anxious and had no idea what to expect or do and all that and he was nice but poked fun a little here, complimented my dancers feet there and LISTENED and helped calm me down and talked through things and made conversation which 3b(?) I’m HORRIBLE at carrying on conversations. I’m a conversation killer! I just don’t know what to say and then it dies and it’s awkward - and he was the opposite. He always had something to say to keep it going and not make me feel awkward or idk. I just left feeling good about myself and hopeful about the future and it was nice to have been around other humans and nice human. Like even if their caring is only a part of their job - idc. It felt good and I really needed that.

So yeah- I really don’t know the point in this but I guess it’s just an appreciation post for all the people out there who go out of there way to make people feel comfortable or show a stranger you care. You don’t know what someone is coming from and how much just making someone feel at ease can do for them.

MY FRIENDS. Because @xenawarriorpodcast is hurtling full speed toward the finale (which I am super very much not ready for) and I have been thinking about the show as a whole and have been ov er come by just how far Xena and Gabrielle have come and the very particular places from which they started, I keyboard smashed it out therapy-style and thought I might as well share it with you.

There is a reason that “take me with you, teach me everything you know” is a voiceover we almost always get in the romantic montages scattered throughout the series. So much of the Xena/Gabrielle relationship is predicated on Gabrielle having been at that liminal space between childhood and adulthood when they met, her desire to learn/grow/be, and the way that when Xena started reforming herself, she did it around that desire. 

It would be easy to simply state the obvious: that 1) there is clearly an age difference and 2) it’s close enough/they’re both old enough that it’s not problematic. However: while I won’t throw my math at you unless you really want it, it’s never made sense to me for Gabrielle to be any older than 18 and Xena to be any younger than 26 at the start.

Which is a significant age gap, especially what with Xena’s particular life experiences piled on top of it. Especially in the moment we first meet her in her own show, when she’s dealing with the initial onslaught of guilt so traumatic that she’s vaguely-to-actively suicidal… and which is abruptly! cosmically! interrupted by the arrival of Gabrielle. 

And so Xena, bemusedly and unexpectedly finding herself with one exuberant young woman in tow, started warming to the roles Gabrielle was eager to cast her in, playing teacher and mentor when she could help Gabrielle make the transition to adult and realized self, and bearing witness to her evolution when she couldn’t. 

This is literally the plot of Xena: Warrior Princess. This is the role she takes on with respect to Gabrielle from literally episode 3: 

Which leads into what Gabrielle aptly calls Xena’s “first stab at wisdom”, regarding her Extremely Important extended metaphor regarding how things (read: killing/violence) change you forever, despite appearances.

Of which variations of the same exist especially through S1! Extending even into the romantic arena in a delightful fit of (unconscious??) foreshadowing:

And to the point where when Gabrielle briefly decides that she needs someone else to fulfill that role, this is Xena’s astonished and dejected realization:

To the point that so much of who Xena is becomes inescapably wrapped up in Gabrielle - because when at the very beginning she didn’t really have a direction beyond using her warrior skills to help others towards her redemption… which let’s be fair, isn’t the most concrete of goals for someone who is an extremely practical person… here was something she could do, now. Here was someone who needed her, now. 

And of course she also comes to love her! But I think there’s also something to be said for how when she’s rebuilding herself, she starts by rebuilding herself specifically - and unconsciously - into a person that Gabrielle needs.

(Like… that line was for the lols, but it also really, really wasn’t.)

Ofc this age difference-sponsored dynamic is also immeasurably important to Gabrielle’s individual character arc, in ways that are a bit more obvious for her, the Campbellian hero (stay tuned for my 592539 page essay on that coming to a theater near you.) And ofc it goes without saying, that it’s insanely important for the Xena/Gabrielle romantic relationship, bc it is so indelibly rooted in their friendship which is based in this dynamic! And which it never gets away from! 

Sure, by Season 6 the tenor of their relationship is different - Gabrielle is firmly an adult and functions as Xena’s equal - but they are always carrying where they started out with them. Xena watched this woman grow up. She was responsible for it. And she’s still - still!!!! - wracked enough by guilt for her part in Gabrielle’s loss of innocence that as late as Season 6′s The Abyss, she tells Gabrielle that the super bad situation that they’re in isn’t Gabrielle’s fault: “It’s mine, for setting you on a path you were never meant to walk.”

(to which I am morally obliged to provide Gabrielle’s response: “Any path is okay, as long as it’s with you.”) 

Which is ALL KINDS of telling. Because it’s not just that Xena is in charge (which Gabrielle has been airing her opinions about since Season 2). It’s that Xena is the mentor. Xena is the teacher. Gabrielle entrusted herself to Xena when she was still an innocent and Xena cannot stop feeling the weight of that responsibility until the very end. 

And look, I have feelings about the finale like everybody, and I’m still wrestling with a post-finale fic that’s been sitting in my Google Docs for a little over a year now (i.e. since about twenty minutes after I emerged from my sobbing-induced catatonia after watching FIN for the first time) because of the way it hurts and all of the varied reasons why. But one thing which will always give me chills and make my insides seize up so that I can’t even breathe at this incredible moment of utter becoming?

Chelsea Wolfe's sixth studio album Hiss Spun was catalyzed by a reunion. Around 10 years ago, the goth-folk songwriter had a band with Happy Fangs drummer Jess Gowrie, but the years since had been quiet for the pair. "[We] didn't talk for seven years after I left," Wolfe explains. "Two years ago, we started hanging out again, and along with our friendship the musical chemistry came flying back. It was important to me to play music with Jess again—she taught me a lot about music and how to be a front person of a band."

The follow-up to Wolfe's 2015 album Abyss began as a side project between the her and Gowrie, aided by friends like Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen and Wolfe's bandmate Ben Chisholm. Fueled by the comfort of their reconnection, Hiss Spun—due out September 22—came to life as an evocative meditation on finding stability and sanity in a chaotic world.

Accordingly, the record opens with a disorienting swirl of sounds. The distorted screech of "Spun" gives way to the soul-shaking swell of "16 Psyche" and the mesmerizing pulse of "Vex"—demonstrating the omnivorousness of Hiss Spun's power. "Each song has many worlds inside it," Wolfe says. "A way for me to bring the songs together on this record was a list of short words with big meanings: flux, hiss, welt, groan, swarm, spun, scrape, [and] strain. They became a sort of guide. Flux represents movement and flow. Hiss is life force and white noise. Welt is the brutality of life, [and] groan represented sensuality and death."

During the earliest stages of the project, Wolfe kept these words among a list of ideas and notes to guide her through her songwriting process. "Some of it was written during a time when I was staying with family while looking for a new place to live," Wolfe recalls. "I didn't have much space to myself [so] I'd set up a little bedroom studio and would work on songs in headphones, creating my own world… It almost made me feel like a teenager again—understanding that feeling of escapism, a way out from physical surroundings. I found refuge in music."

"16 Psyche"—the record's second track and one of its standouts—is a clear result of that time spent alone. Sharing its name with the recently discoveredasteroid and the Greek goddess of the soul, this cosmic ballad examines how life's restrictions—self-imposed and otherwise—can alter us. Shot in a single day at a studio located in downtown Los Angeles, the video for the track allowed for Wolfe to tap into what she calls the "claustrophobic," "frantic," and "feral" aspects of the song. Viewers bear witness as she attempts to break free from the faceless and bandaged attendees who try to restrict her mobility. The stylized confinement brings to mind the surreal panic of the videos for 1990s anthems by Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails, which she says she sent as references for the video to director Zev Deans, along with visuals by Smashing Pumpkins and Deftones.

Much like her videos for "Carrion Flowers" and "Feral Love," Wolfe says the clip was shaped by grappling with her mental and physical health. "I deal with extreme anxiety that gets exacerbated by bouts of insomnia," she explains. "I'm constantly trying to find ways to calm down… That has manifested into addiction at times [and] I carried a lot of that into this record, especially on "16 Psyche" and "Spun." In doing so, Wolfe was able to open herself up to the world rather than closing herself off.

Through vulnerability, she was also able to find healing. "There were some things I hadn't dealt with before, from the dark past of my family, to relationships I'd had, to my own health," she admits. "Some of the songs became a personal exorcism and some of them were written in dedication to the hardships that others have faced." It seems only fitting that the album was recorded in Salem, Massachusetts by Kurt Ballou, a decision that added an additional thematic layer to the LP. "There is a lot of anger on this album for what my female and genderqueer antecessors have had to face, so recording in a town that historically murdered women for being "witches" was fitting," says Wolfe.

Because of this openness, Hiss Spun ends up feeling like a portrait of transformation and hope. "In this era, everyone is expected to really have their shit together at all times and present it as such on social media, but it's okay to embrace the mess of yourself," she says. "That's the first step towards personal growth." Wolfe encourages us to be at peace with transition. "Take it one day at a time," she suggests, "Surround yourself with good, supportive people in real life. Know that it's okay to change."
