Just another Sontails question, because I desire some cute fluff. XD
What does each one do to support and comfort the other through their respective fears of water and lightning?
Sorry it took me so long to get to this ask, wah, but I can finally talk about these two again!!! Here's some fluff :D
For Sonic, I think the fact he has Tails with him at all is already a great comfort. He can fly him over any water, which is a huge help during general exploration, and he can also use his tails as propellers underwater. He's really made Sonic's life a lot easier with that.
But for the times they just have to go through a long, watery area and can't avoid it at all, Tails would try to encourage him and even offer to take the lead, so that Sonic can take it easier while he's out of his element. Probably take a hold of his hand to reassure him if he finds it appropiate, too.
His courage and kindness always let Sonic stop worrying about the water so much, since he has Tails to help out. I kinda like to headcanon that he got better with it in recent years, thanks to Tails supporting him and taking his fear seriously.
Tails, on the other hand, I feel he'll always be scared of lighting. I mean, I'm almost 20, and I get scared myself when there are strong storms outside XD It's more of an 'irrational' fear than Sonic's hydrophobia, which makes it a bit harder to deal with, but thankfully Sonic is up to the ask.
When he's with Tails when the lightning strikes, sometimes he tries to coax him with comforting words, but more often than not he jumps directly into physical contact, since he thinks it's the best reassurance for Tails.
He'll just hug him and pet his head until he's begun to calm down. It's one of the few occasions Sonic is willing to stay still for as long as needed - he really cares about Tails and wants to make sure he'll be okay.
Usually, just having Sonic be there for him is enough for Tails to get it together, given that Sonic's presence is very grounding for him. There are times they do hug a bit longer than needed, though, but hey, neither of them is complaining :') It makes for great bonding time.
Thank you for the ask, and apologies for the delay in answering! I hope life has been treating yall well <3

Starting off with, i love your comics, artstyle, and aro/ace and qpr rep! And i also wanted to thank you for your comics about being in a long distance relationship. I too am an European whose partners are off in another continent, and often have to hide or defend our relationship even just to be seen as an actual one, much less an out-of-amatonormativity one, so seeing that we are not alone, and the cute sides of something that 90% of the time is quite hard, is very comforting to me. Thank you for it and good luck with your book and life!
P. S.: the thing that will always stick to me is the little ‘wheee’ when passing by sidewalk poles. 100% doing it whenever there’s the chance
Honestly, receiving this makes ME feel less alone as well!! What you said about having to hide or defend a relationship due to it being long-distance touched me in a way I didn't expect. I took forever to tell most people who live in my country/continent about my partner for so many reasons. Because it was a queerplatonic relationship and I feared people wouldn't understand. Because I'd spent so long trying to make everyone understand I didn't need a romantic partner to be happy and I was afraid people would just amalgamate the notion of a queerplatonic relationship with me being "fixed". Because we're both afab and with some people I had fears of possible homophobia (which, thankfully, never happened, except with one person I think). And... Yeah, now that you mention it, the fact that they're so far away and I couldn't introduce it to them physically if they asked, unless they happened to be visiting.
I think having met online and relying on online means to have to communicate plays a lot into that, too. Even though for a while in 2020 and subsequent years, in my country and many others, it was kind of illegal to communicate with anyone but your immediate family any other way THAN online or by phone, because reasons, people still see online communication as automatically lesser and one that should be given less importance (which drives me nuts personally, because it wasn't until I could go online that I started making real friends, what with being bullied by a lot of middleschoolmates and whatnot). There was a time where my partner and I had to fight to even be given time and respect of said time when we were busy calling each other. There's a lot of obvious hardships and a lot of unspoken ones that I guess one only sees if one is in that situation. So... Thank you, soo, for making me feel less alone.
I sincerely wish you the best as well, and good luck to you guys too!

I fucking adore your comic panelling, any advice on how to do it? Like specific ratios or ways to divide the page?
god there's so much advice i COULD give but i really dont wanna end up writing a book here. so I guess I'll say this: however you divide the page you should be CONSISTENT with it, i literally just learned/internalized this but it's made comic paneling soo much easier. when you break that consistency it will be more impactful. hold up lemme grab some pages.
so i recently started making loose stitches a 4 tier comic. it's not the exact same for each page cuz i'm lazy but i think it's made legibility way better. before i think it was kinda uhhhhh a little all over the place. not BAD but a little difficult to tell where your eyes supposed to go sometimes. which isnt great for a commic.
the page on the left in particular has always bothered me cuz i always read the top panels incorrectly and it's like. fuck man what is the paneling here why is it in two columns ????? that's so hard to understand. but the page on the right can be more or less easily understood (by someone who knows how to read comics) even without panel borders because it's just a simple 4 panel square.
one thing my comic professor really stressed was that he didn't like weird paneling or weird borders. for the most part, a square is fine. AND HE'S RIGHT. weird paneling is fun and cool but should be used sparingly or with intention, cuz if you do it too much then like. how tf are ppl gonna read your comic.
that being said there are a lot of cool ways to cut up panels even if they're just squares hold on lemme grab some examples
so the panels here are all square but the image in the one at the bottom is almost like a mural. one thing i really like to using is a lot of heavy BLACK, what can i say silhouette's have my entire heart.
in my fable comic, I used a 3 tier system. it wasn't the same exact size across all pages but all pages had 3 tiers of paneling. that way i can be a little more flexible with the SIZE of the panels to emphasize the more important things, without it feeling like it's all over the place
meanwhile in my comic final i used a 4 tier system where each tier was nearly the same across every page, but you can collapse tiers together for establishing shots and big reveals so that they're more impactful. it's still fully within the grid system I set up so it doesn't feel like it's messing with shit either.
ok i just spent a lot of time rambling about this one particular concept and it's probably not even what you wanted to hear about :') i didnt even go into ratios or anythinggg guhhhh sowwy
other than all that i'd just say you gotta keep looking at what comic artists have written and take note of how they use space and cut things up. there's this book called How To Read Nancy and it has all these exercises for understanding the building blocks of nancy. for real the author is OBSESSIVE and goes through everything of a 3 panel nancy strip from body language to spot blacks to the minutia of the background. we used this book in my class and did some of the exercises in the back and i think it's really good at getting you to THINK about what you're drawing. and you can easily pirate it if you're broke.
also try to make sure things dont get stagnant on a page. zoom out if you're only doing close ups (i try to make sure every page of loose stitches has at least one full body shot even tho I'm lazy and wanna just do talking heads- talking heads arent interesting!!)
also, take advantage of the fact you're drawing a COMIC. you can do shit in comics that you can't do in other mediums, try to implement them when u can! ALSO PRACTICE. you're not gonna get better just by reading and watching. you gotta do it lol. ok ok that's enough and you didn't even ask for that stuff you asked about PANELING sfdasfsd byeee

the new my roommate is hades is here so let's see if it's any better then the first. It'll go the same as last time, my live thoughts then conclusion/overall thoughts
I still don't like the guy who plays Hades. He's trying soo hard to be edgy and dark but it's so forced.
ahhh exposition about engineering of all things. "You did chemical engineering, why are you taking intro to engineering." "there's different types of engineering Hades. Keep up, you're the immortal one, how do you not know this?" "your lives are insignificant, I can't keep up with every technological advancement, especially these days."
I guess they're trying to put in little bits of educational content like how they said last time that Benjamin Franklin never went to college. But there has to be a better way. But at the end of the day this is just a way to introduce Hephaestus to Thomas, sorry, Homer.
Hephaestus is a nerd, the reminds the teacher of the homework nerd. I do like the jacket though, it's a cool jacket.
soooo the gods just being at this community college is just a known fact? "oh yeah the greek gods? nah that's normal, we had the norse pantheon here last semester. They were great, they threw a ton of amazing parties. Loki was very active in the LGBT group, it was actually pretty cool."
this fucking script god damn. Like I get the message being that "education is important and it's important to always strive to learn new things" but does it have to be so blatant all the time. Is there no such thing as subtly.
all the talking in class is killing me.
Personally if I was trying to show the god of the dead the beauty in humanity and that humans are worthy of caring for I wouldn't drag him to an engineering class of all things. Why not a class on the history of music, art history, a class on literature.
Hermes jump scare, I smiled a little
there's so much exposition
Hades summoned the ghost of Nicola Tesla. why haven't they been booted out for being disruptive???
at least it was pointed out that they're being disruptive to everyone else who are trying to learn
Why is hades being nice and having an emption moment with Thomas Homer? they don't fucking like each other, Hades whole thing is he doesn't care about humanity
this also, just isn't that great of an emotional moment. Like it makes sense Hephaestus is being nice but why's Hades being decent
why was Hephaestus aware of him before they met?
this is a class, not group therapy
I skipped the bit of Thomas Homer standing up to yell at everyone. I got the bit about him telling the teacher to teach everyone and not just praise Hephaestus and yeah, that's fair. If you're going to not explain anything and be a dick of a teach you gotta be equally dickish to everyone
the teacher's a fucking robot. the explains why the teacher knew Hephaestus was a god and why they didn't get kicked out of class
final thoughts are I think that if I was 15 again I'd like it a bit more, back when I was younger and still admired Thomas and worshipped the ground he walked on. But that was a years ago.
Thomas specifically refers to being in a community college, but in community colleges all you can get is an associates degree and credits for a four year school to get a bachelors degree.
The editing, not great, but there was also way less effects, only a dark circle around Hades and the Nicola Tesla ghost being very blue and red lightning when the robot broke that was a few seconds too long.
And of course, Thomas's horribly ill fitting glasses I cannot get over because look at them.
#if the finale is like this I'm not gonna enjoy it#mostly because I've grown up since 2019 when I was deep in the trenches and because I'm here aren't I#and not with the fans still#it took me so long to get through that#ts crit#ts criticism#ts critical

I don't want to sound pretentious when i say all this (and this ended up being really long??), but i really do think you don't need to uphold your online presence so consciously, or even at all. There's nothing wrong with being "inactive" because trying to show up for everything is some sick standard social media made up. Maybe it might be difficult to uphold an idgaf personality, but i can say from my experience it could be better to try a little bit at a time. I can say that they really do mean it when you can have quiet admirers, from my experience all the more. Maybe they're too shy to put silly tags when they reblog or just put a like on your post. And I don't think you have to worry too much about sticking to one piece of media and be afraid the people following you won't like you anymore for posting different content. At most, I just believe they won't really care enough to unfollow you or stop engaging entirely. The most important thing to me is that you stick around doing the things you actually want to do, even if you're just showing up every month or so, or black out for a year or more. Because the people who do care will be overjoyed to see you whatever you post or share, especially when you come back after a long time. It really is discouraging when you don't see that actively, maybe because we're so used to seeing numbers that relate to our worth. But i like to imagine we're waving at each other from a distance or smiling through a window, as horrid as online landscapes can be nowadays. I know i'm running my mouth here but i just wanted to share my experience because i um. 🙋 also think youre really cool and awesome and i love whatever work you do and the fact you share it is an amazing thing enough i feel privelaged and youre humor is funny and whatever new stuff you post is just introducing me to things i'll also think is cool down the line and i really do wish i can share my appericiation more and evolve from being a quiet admirer /inhales/ 👍 i would say this is a sort of love letter from the gas station but i also mean it as kai 👋 i hope you're doing well in uni or that it gets better soon or in whatever it is youre doing now. and whether or not youre online, i hope youre doing the things you enjoy 🫶
okay i needed some time to figure out how to respond to this ask because theres a lot (in a /pos way dont worry) so ill start off with saying that i really really and i do mean it Really appreciate what you said here. Especially lately, ive been struggling with being active online outside of small spaces where there are just me and a few other people. might be me feeling overwhelmed when i say something into the void with a high chance of no response, though i wont fault anyone for that. i myself know interaction is scary so i do get it. ever since i started using the internet ive stuck to my small online bubbles so yeah interaction kind of intimidating online
and though i agree it does feel discouraging to sometimes see no feedback or much of a reaction, i try not to be bummed out about it myself because im also a silent admirer of many artists online. so like ive said before i do understand that sometimes people are shy and dont interact directly and theres no pressure really to change that. just the idea that there are people that like what i make is really nice, even though i suffer from the same issue that maaany other artists have and i need to actively remind myself of that.
about sticking to one fandom its a very recent but big issue to me because ive been DEEP in the persona pit for like 4 years, and i certainly built an audience around that. i know there will always be people that stick around no matter what but despite that theres always that nagging feeling that maaybe things will crumble. obviously thats not true but human mind fucking SUCKS
as the final note ill say it again that your message means a lot to me and i thank you a lot for it <333 im soo flattered by your words and they made my past two days, thank you soo much
#as for uni im almost done with it!!#wowzers masters degree i will kill myself tho bc idk what to do after it#but thats an issue for the future me i guess!!!#anyway again thank you so much your message was really sweet and meant a lot to me#im sorry i dont reach out much like i said interaction online is soo scary and also insanely difficult lately?? it sucks#as the twitter users say thank you oomfie <3#ask#k4ik4yk04#long post

"A Piece of Your Mind" is a different Kdrama and that's why it's one of the best...
"A Piece Of Your Mind" really is for me a drama that will mark me forever. Among all the dramas I've watched, "A Piece Of Your Mind" made me feel like I've never felt before in front of a drama. I didn't cry but it put a feeling in my chest, my guts, a feeling that sometimes was sadness, sometines was sweet. It definitely was a masterpiece. It had the perfect balance between angst and happiness. Every episode brings a new way to think and see things. Their deep talks will really warm your heart.
It never was an ordinary drama. I'm used to watch dramas. In certain situations, it gets easier to know what they're going to say, if they love each other, if they're sorry, if they're sad. "A Piece Of Your Mind" was never like that. Not a moment I could imagine what they were about to say to each other, everytime a surprise bringing overwhelming sweetness in my heart. Whenever they were sad of happy, their talks always had a deep meaning. They went through pain together in the softest way possible. Both pain of grieving people they love.
It saddens me that it got cut to 12 episodes instead if 16. It's not that we didn't get to see anything but I just didn't want it to stop. It's something I looked forward to continue, to watch every week to soften my heart. Writers didn't rush anything, they did absolutely great. Just, I didn't want it to stop because they did their job amazingly well. I read that it was because of low ratings and "boring" storyline. I never thought that a good drama had to be about : love which could kill/hurt each other anyway, fights and guns or anything else revolving around roller-coasters of emotions. It was special without any of this, just sweet love, sadness and share of emotions. It was far from boring, it was overwhelming.
And honestly, OST? Piano songs? Gorgeous, turned toward music, universal language. There is no better way, in my opinion, to share emotions than music. It changes everything and the emotions are decoupling. It was a very important part. Learning to listen and appreciate. Every character in the show, without exception, stopped to listen to the music.
What to say about the casting aside the fact that they were all amazing. Jung Hae In and Chae Soo Bin 's chemistry literally surpass them all. It felt just right to see them together. Amazing actors, all of them delivered touching performances.
Hands down to "A Piece Of Your Mind", my drama of the year, no contest. I can not hope for a drama like this any time soon. I don't want to get my hopes up but, at least a drama with these actors again would be much appreciated. To pay justice to their chemistry as 12 episodes are far from enough.
Trully wonderful drama.

The anon who asked about the MBTI- I agree with you, Prussia is ESTJ, and Ludwig is the perfect ISTJ. Russia is really hard to pinpoint, like you mentioned. I thought of him as an INFP but when I read more about stuff I just can't really tell which category he fits into :/ Overall thanks for the super detailed answer! I love all the info you give on your posts- they're really useful to really think deeper about the characters.
Awww thx, it always makes my day to hear someone enjoys my rants! :D Hmm, INFP you say. I see your point as there are many characteristics that I would describe as very-Ivan, but there are also things that don’t fit him at all, of course I mean the way I HC him. In general, I think this type is too pleasant :DBut I’m gonna start with the things I believe are very-Ivan:
“Very creative, open-minded and flexible” (but again, he is also set in his ways and traditional -that’s the part where many of his characteristics contradict each other and context if very important), passionate and energetic (not counting when he has a mood swing and gets all melancholic and low energy), “dedicated and hardworking”, “too idealisti”c (if he buys into an ideology he can even be a bit fanatical to the point where the ideology no longer serves him well and is impractical), “not doing great with data” (he has the capacity to understand, it’s just boring to him, he’s not interested), “impractical” (very much so! :D) and” taking things personally” (OMG THIS, he takes thing soo personally). And the last,” difficult to get to know” - he has a lot of walls and masks and his personality in general is very multifaceted so yup.BUT there is also this bit about being altruistic and wanting harmony for everyone/not wanting to rule. This is when it gets tricky.I think a country like Russia (like, don’t think about Ivan for a moment, just Russia in general) is an incredibly powerful nation that in its politics seems to often go by the ‘might is right’ mentality. It wants to be in control, of course as MOST countries do, especially those that are super powerful. Powerful nations didn’t get there by wanting harmony, they got there by being ambitious and often merciless. I think Russia has a dark side and even tho he likes being liked and wants to have friends (and is often sad if others don’t like him), he also wants to be in power and is willing to walk all over others for that to happen. In effect, he has this mentality when he tries to control others via ‘I know what’s better for you than yourself!’ kind of thinking. 'I will help you’ he said while entering another countrie’s lands with an army. That kind of thing. And in a way he really believes he is helping them/this is For Their Own Good but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s still a type of abuse and the real pure core of this mentality is NOT wanting to help but wanting power and control over others. He just puts the control in nicer clothing that, let’s say, Prussia does. He’s kinda similar to America in this, as America does the 'Let me help you, let me give you democracy!’ thing to control others A LOT.
It’s actually one of the reasons they tend to dislike each other today - you hate in others the things that you don’t accept in yourself, and bc this is an ugly characteristic, it pisses them off in the other, they don’t like this mirror :D
