Your ask and follow up post about Dean being forced into the role of an idealised Mary mother figure and Sam perpetuating Johns parentification of Dean because that was the version of Dean he relied on and grew up with, thus stepping into the role of 'John' literally blew my hair back,,, MOTHER BROTHER DEAN, IM CLUTCHING MY HEAD IM CRAWLING UP THE WALLS!!!!!! Also, in a way, I think Dean stepping into the role of nurturer and caregiver (in essence, a maternal role) for Sam is often the root of peoples exploration of Dean and his gendered identity. Like, on one hand he's this hyper masculine man's man gun toting hunter, but on the other he's the closest thing his baby brother has to a maternal presence. Which begs the question, which act is a performance? (BOTH!!! BOTH ARE GENDERED PERFORMANCES) Am I making sense???
This has been sitting in my inbox for a while bc I enjoy rotating it. A lot of people like to bring up Dean perpetuating anger and violence (which Imo he doesn't in the way people say he does but that's another post), but they constantly miss the fact that the most damaging cycle that Sam and Dean BOTH perpetuate is Dean's parentification. It's damaging for Dean because he's never going to pick his best interests over protecting Sam, and it's damaging for Sam because it locks him in this cycle of "why won't you trust me" without ever setting himself up as a peer to Dean.
Re: gender performance, I do find it fascinating that John's parentification in Dean manifests in Dean overcompensating in his masculinity. You could argue that it's John specifically modeling that for him, BUT I could also see a case for Dean trying to balance the act being Sam's parent and John's Mary replacement with trying to be his own person and it manifests in him modeling his behavior off what he assumes masculinity should be.

Hold Me Together
Dean Winchester x Reader (could be read as platonic or romantic)
Summary: you're having a hard time trying to hold it together after Bobby's death, but Dean's there to pick up the pieces
Warning: hurt/comfort, sweet Dean, character death, talk of death and depression, smoking, season 7 spoilers
A/N: this is written as a reader pov but it's more of an o/c just without a name, not proofread all mistakes are my own
Tumblr media
Bobby had taken you in when you were a teenager. At fourteen your entire life had been upended. You lost your parents and any semblance of the normal life you had. Bobby had found you on a hunt and had taken you back to his home. You were hesitant to trust him and for the first few weeks you hardly talked, ate, or slept, still processing what had happened to you. At least processing the best a fourteen year old, with no prior knowledge of the hunting world, could.
Bobby was patient with you, gaining your trust and trying to get you to open up. He was hesitant to tell you about hunting and the world of the supernatural, but you were a curious kid and you started to read his lore books. After that you figured it out pretty quickly and took quite the interest in it. Many days, you spent reading about monsters and the paranormal. You learned about how to kill them and Bobby taught you how to protect yourself.
At the age of sixteen, you decided to become a hunter, against Bobby's wishes. You fit the bill of a hunter: no family, no friends, and a boat load of trauma. Despite how young you were, you were pretty good at killing monsters, given that you now had two years worth of knowledge about hunting and a lot of training.
Hunting became your life. You were on the road a lot of the time, but you would always come back to Bobby's house after every hunt and he would take care of you. Through him, you met Sam and Dean. You helped them find their dad and after he died you went quite a few hunts with them. Eventually you became close friends and hunting partners, being there when Sam died, when Dean came back from Hell, fighting side by side during the Apocalypse.
You were one little, messed-up family, brought together by the fact that Bobby was like a father to all of you. And now he was gone.
It had been almost two weeks since Bobby had passed away. You and the boys were holed up in Rufus's cabin in Montana, trying to deal with his death. You hadn't been sleeping, opting to stay busy to try and keep from breaking down. You had spent a lot of your time getting his affairs in order and calling the people closest to him to let them know what happened. As his adoptive daughter, you felt it was your duty.
When you weren't doing that, you were trying to figure out what the numbers he had scrawled on your hand meant. You had tried almost everything you could think of, bank numbers, passwords, lock codes. Nothing worked and it was driving you crazy.
You had been distant from the boys, even though you were all staying in the small cabin together, you were quiet and in your head most of the time. You knew they were worried about you, trying to get you to eat or sleep. They knew that you were the closest to Bobby out of the three of them and would take his death hard, but it surprised them that you never broke down, you just kept working.
But everyone break eventually. There's always that moment where everything hits. That is where you are now. Crying so hard it hurts and utterly exhausted.
Both the boys were gone, Sam had gone on a supply run and Dean had gone to give Bobby's mystery numbers to Frank to see if he could figure them out.
You sat crammed between the coffee table and the couch, knees to your chest, holding a picture of you and Bobby in one hand and a cigarette in the other. You don't even know what had started it, but you had just...broke. All the emotions you had been pushing back came to the surface all at once and now you had sat there and sobbed until your chest ached.
You didn't know how much time had passed when you heard the front door open. Lifting your head from your knees, you saw that Dean had walked through the door. You didn't want him to see you like this, you never really cried in front of him and certainly not sobbing like you were now. He hadn't seen you yet, given that you were on the floor, so you quickly wiped your tears. Maybe you could run to the bathroom before he saw your face.
Nope. As soon as he turned around, he locked eyes with you and you knew there was no way he wouldn't notice you had been crying. He noticed everything.
"Aw, Sweetheart," he said softly. Seeing your face, he crossed to room and moved to kneel beside you.
"I'm ok," you said and stood up, trying to brush him off. "I'm ok," you repeated, more to yourself, as you tried to will away your tears.
However, you couldn't hold back the fresh wave building behind your eyes. You let out a broken sob and your legs gave out on you, partially from the awkward angle you had been sitting at and partially from how exhausted you were.
Dean caught you before you could fall. "Ok, you're ok," he said, holding you to him with one arm as he took the photo and your cigarette from your hand and put it out in the ashtray.
Before you could protest, he had lifted you into his arms and move to lay on the couch with you on top of him. All you could do, was let the tears fall as you clung to his shirt and let him position you in a way that was comfortable.
"Shhh, I got you, it's ok," he soothed, wrapping you in his arms and running a hand up and down your back.
He didn't say anything other than whispered assurances, just letting your emotions run through you as he fought tears in his own eyes. After what felt like an eternity of crying and soaking his shirt, sleep finally pulled you under.
Tumblr media
Sam walked through the door with an arm load of groceries. "Hey man, wha-" he stopped himself when himself when he saw his brother raise a finger to his lips and then point to you. Only then did the younger Winchester realize that you were asleep on top of his brother, wrapped in a blanket that Dean had pulled over you.
"She ok?" he mouthed, noting the solemn expression on his brother's face.
Dean shook his head 'no'.
"I'll make her some food, she needs to eat," Sam whispered, as to not wake you, and proceeded to make dinner as quietly as possible.
Tumblr media
You felt a hand gently shaking your shoulder before you heard Dean's voice.
"Hey Sweetheart," he said, when your eyes finally peeled open. "Sammy made dinner." He hated having to wake you, but you had to be starving.
You nodded and untangled yourself from Dean's embrace. You really didn't want to leave the comfort of his arms, but your stomach was demanding food after so long without eating.
You went to the bathroom to wash the tears stains from your face before joining the boys at the kitchen table. Neither of them made you talk if you didn't want to, instead they made light conversation and tried to make you smile. You knew this was going to be a hard time on all of you, but you were eternally grateful to have them by your side.

Rewatched 1x03 Dead in the Water (this is a really long one, so I added a "read more" break)
This episode 100% gobsmacked me in the face with Jensen's beauty all the way through. It's unreal, shocking. There's a simple mystery story, but the real mystery is how anyone can have a normal conversation with that face in the room? Thank you, Kim Manners.
Thank you also for the bleak mood of the story. Several unsolved deaths and a failing dam; the townsfolk seem puzzled and depressed in their dreary surroundings. It has the aura of a deteriorating Rust Belt town already mourning its impending doom.
Sam is impatient to follow the (nonexistent?) trail to Dad. Dean has to persuade Sam to do the monster of the week as this town is vaguely "along the way." Silly excuses for a MOTW aside, I do like that character-wise, pretty consistently throughout the series, Dean is a "trust the process" guy. When he's at a loss, he'll revert to the familiar steps of the hunt till there's another lead or inspiration hits. Very workman-like. (By season 7 it morphs into a more existential "fake it till you make it" survival strategy.)
We move on to them hitting the road in the gleaming Impala. Flirty Dean at the diner becomes flirty Dean at the sheriff's office. Andrea isn't buying what he's selling, and we get a little light comedy. Sam's "Name three children that you even know" is a nice bit of misdirection to imply Dean has no connection to kids. We and Sam are about to learn differently.
Sam's research uncovers that Lucas witnessed his Dad's death, setting up a parallel to Dean's loss of Mary. Dean's attention gravitates to Lucas, and his empathy opens a window for us into Dean's own childhood trauma. When Lucas gives Dean a drawing, I feel like Andrea's look of surprise towards Dean mirrors our own. Maybe there's more to him than that brash beauty.
There's a hint that Lucas has premonitions -- I love that they're laying the groundwork for premonitions, soon to be significant for Sam -- and can give them clues through his drawings. Dean's confession about being scared and thinking his Mom would want him to be brave is delivered with honesty, almost matter-of-fact. It's all the more poignant. I think it easily taps into how we all remember the loneliness of childhood sadness as well as the instinctive desire at that age to make our parents proud. This time instead of Andrea we get to see Sam register surprise at this reveal from Dean.
Giant Sam is able to pull nude Andrea from the haunted bath. I'm a bit distracted by the technical need to not reveal too much of her body, and I can't help but worry about actresses being put into those circumstances during filming. More memorable is Dean saving Lucas because of that emotional connection between them. I love the physicality that J2 imbue into the action, especially when they're clearly doing their own stunts.
The first two episodes seemed to be pulling Sam into a reckoning with his past, and while he's not the emotional center of this episode, he's our proxy. Sam is seeing his brother in a new light. It's the same when you're a young adult, re-examining your childhood memories and finding a new perspective on and context for things you long took for granted to be true.
The two brothers together pulling a dead child's buried bicycle from its grave is a chilling visual on loss of innocence, and a fitting metaphor for how their work is unburying their own past along their way to rediscover Dad, their family. And the message here is that the violence didn't stay dead and buried; it needed to be acknowledged and reckoned with to stop the cycle. Psychologically satisfying.
Some echoes from the previous episodes: bathtub danger, creepy ghost kids, bereft and fatally flawed parents, a grateful pretty woman giving Dean a farewell kiss, a rock song sendoff. Toy green army men are connected to Dean's childhood. It was fun to see Amy Acker, as I really enjoyed her in Angel.
I love the melancholy of this episode. The filming is intimate and assured, full of dark rooms, quiet conversations, and grief. Noir shadows highlight Dean's stunning face, which I continue to gif in attempts to hold onto that wonder a few seconds longer. I love all the groundwork this episode lays for the mytharc while being a satisfying standalone ep. Jensen's acting with Lucas, and Jared and Amy's reactions to Dean bring an unexpected, deeper dimension to Dean. The story has begun to roll on the Getting-to-Know-Dean track, and I'm always ready to hop on this ride.

I was thinking about Sam running off to Flagstaff in relation to Dean going to Sonny's. Must have been about the same time if Sam was 12.
So is it that no one was super concerned when Dean 'was missing' for months so Sam thought his 2 week adventure was no big deal.
Or was Dean left at Sonny's as punishment for losing Sam.
Neither paint a great picture of John, but the first does make Sam's attitude to running away more understandable (plus John's constant disappearing act wouldn't help). Either way, I think s5 sam is still immature enough to think 'you left, dad left, whys it only a problem when I do'.
So, 5.16 doesn't mention Sam's age when he ran away, but I estimated around 12 because of 11.08 "Just My Imagination", and how it centers around Sam considering running away for the first time as a kid. Though it isn't to get away from their dad—it's neglect that drives him, and then he ends up leaving to find and join John and Dean on their hunt without John's permission to try and prove himself. I actually went back to double check though, and 11.08 takes place in 1992, so Sam was actually around 10. This doesn't give us a very solid timeline—just enough to say Flagstaff probably happened after Sam turned 10. "Bad Boys" takes place in 1995, when Sam is around 12. Sam's dietary preference for "Funions and Mr. Pibb" probably still suggests he was young—from 10-13 when Flagstaff happened—because by 1997 flashbacks in 4.13 "After School Special", Sam has settled on college as his method of escape, and I don't think his hopes for full ride scholarships mesh with plots to run away and have to fend for himself. In fact, I am fairly certain Sam spent all of high school with his nose stuck in a book at every possible moment. Having to worry about his own food or lodging or the lack of credentials being a runaway wouldn't be logical in achieving his goal.
It's very possible Flagstaff happens after "Bad Boys", but it's also possible it happens before. That said, the story John told Sam about Flagstaff was that Dean got lost on a hunt, and John had to go and find him. He dropped Sam off at Bobby's for a couple of months, making Sam think John was actually searching for Dean that whole time:
Yeah. Uh, y-you disappeared. Dad came back. You were gone. He shipped me off to Bobby's for a couple months and went and… found you. You were lost on a hunt or something.
Did "Lost on a hunt" mean John told Sam that Dean got captured by a monster, or that Dean left Sam alone to hunt on his own...? Hard to say.
That said, we also get this nugget from Dean in 14.12 "Prophet and Loss":
I know things got dicey… you know, with dad… the way he was. And I just… I didn’t always look out for you the way that I should’ve. I mean, I had my own stuff, you know. In order to keep the peace, it probably looked like I took his side quite a bit. Sometimes when I was… when I was away, you know it wasn’t ‘cause I just ran out, right? Dad would… he would send me away when I really pissed him off. I think you knew that.
I have no beef with Sam running away, as I have said a couple of times now. I don't care if Sam runs away. In the case of Flagstaff—kids, especially, run away. I just think that from Dean's side, what hurts the most is that Sam never thinks back and reexamines running away to Flagstaff as an adult, and thinks about how dangerous it was, and how terrified Dean must have been, and how angry their father must have been with Dean.

Got bored, wrote a argumentative essay on why I believe Sam has body dysmorphia for fun so here it is:
Tumblr media
For a character who defeated god, you may not think he could suffer from something as common as body dysmorphia. Sam Winchester from the tv series “Supernatural” (2005-2020) is a complex character, but is this throwaway line from pilot episode that brings this theory to life. “Sammy is a chubby twelve year old. It’s Sam, okay.” (s01ep01). A Iconic line, but knowing how this character grew up, it makes it hard to believe Sam would ever get to the point of being considered ‘Chubby’ unless he considered himself as such. In this essay, I will show why I believe Sam Winchester suffers from body dysmorphia with facts from the show.
Firstly, we have the fact that growing up, Sam (and Dean) had very little money. Growing up, his entire childhood and part of his adulthood was living in motels. With a absent father who would leave Sam and his brother for days or weeks with little money for food, they had to do with what they could. We know that Dean as a young age stole food and did things for money to buy said food. We also know that Dean went hungry time from time or ate very little so that Sam could eat decently. (We see in a episode a man asking Dean if his every gone hungry, like haven’t eaten in days hungry and Dean answer that he has.) We see in the Supernatural episode “Bad Boys” (s09ep07) in a flashback that Dean got arrested and sent to a boys home for getting caught stealing bread. The person in charge of the boys home, Sonny, asked him if the bread was for him but Dean never answers, knowing Dean character’s its safe to assume the bread was for Sam. Due to the fact that they barley had enough money and often went hungry, I don’t think Sam would have ever gotten the chance to get ‘Chubby’ unless he believed he was.
Secondly, we have the fact that their father, John Winchester, trained Sam and Dean from a young age. In a world of supernatural beings and a man driven by revenge, John constantly trained Sam and Dean throughout their childhood, and not just any training, military training with the bonus of fighting monsters. The moment Sam found out about the supernatural, his training began, which is depressing when you realize he was only eight, as is not like John would care considering Dean already knew how to shoot a gun around that age and he gave Sam a gun when he was nine. (“Yeah? When I told Dad I was scared of the thing in my closet, he gave me a .45.” …. “I was nine years old! He was supposed to say, don't be afraid of the dark.” (s01ep01) ) So with constant training, fighting for your life and going on hunts, is safe to say that Sam and Dean were constantly in shape. Which again, further cements my theory.
Lastly, and the most obvious fact, we see Sam at twelve years old. In that same episode “Bad Boys” (s09ep07) that I mentioned earlier, we see a young Sam Winchester briefly in the last flashback of that episode. We know that in the flashback’s of the episodes, Dean is sixteen years old, and considering the fact that his four years older than Sam, it would mean Sam is in fact, twelve years old. And in the scene, his in fact, a very small and skinny kid, and the oversized shirt his wearing doesn’t do any favors. So going back to Sam’s line in the pilot, things aren’t adding up, unless we considered, that this is just Sam suffering from body dysmorphia.
Tumblr media
Now of course, you can argue that I’m over thinking this, that is a line from the first episode and they din’t even know if the show would do good and it was only going to last five seasons before it continued with a different writer. And yes, is okay to assume that, maybe Sam is just saying things to get Dean to stop calling him ‘Sammy’. But again, Why say that? They never had enough food to eat, they were constantly trained and doing things that would keep them in shape, and this is not even mentioned that throughout the entirety of the show, Sam is constantly eating healthy and keeping in shape by exercising and going on runs in the morning. And more obvious, Dean wouldn’t have believed him since he pretty much raised Sam and would know well enough Sam wasn’t chubby. And with the certainty that Sam had said the line, as if stating a fact, it’s same to assume that Sam personally believed that as so.
In conclusion, I believe Sam Winchester suffered from body dysmorphia. We see constant evidence in the show that there was never a way from Sam to end up ‘chubby’ as he claimed he was at twelve years old. And again, considering we actually see him at said age, it’s easy to assume that Sam just believed he actually was. Then again, this is all my own personal believe and theories, and every is entitled to their own opinion. In the end, this is just a show and nothing is real.

okay so I'm deep diving into dean meta for an unhinged PowerPoint I'm gonna force on some friends and you made a post forever ago about ketch as a foil for dean and I'm just curious if you would be willing to elaborate? this sounds fascinating and I'd love to hear your thoughts about it !!!
Omg hi I’m ALWAYS happy to talk about Dean and Ketch!!!!! This is probably gonna be a slightly raggedy explanation cause I haven’t rewatched since that post I made but here goes.
First and foremost Dean and Ketch have a lot in common. Ketch (as with all the British men of letters) was traumatized at a relatively young age with the idea that he had to be and do things that he didn’t necessarily want to in order to protect the world from horrible things. He is driven by this trauma to be really incredibly good at what he does, which starts to include things outside of the black and white range of killing “evil monsters” like murdering his coworkers and torturing humans who ostensibly have the same goal as him. However this gets regularly reinforced because of how successful he is at this job— he is undeniably an incredibly skilled killer and torturer and kinda spy sometimes. All of this makes him more and more willing to do horrible things that he might not have wanted to do originally because he’s being told that this is how to protect the world and that he has to do the hard things so other people don’t have to.
Dean goes through a really similar process with his dad which I’m sure you’re more familiar with. He gets taught growing up that he has to do hard things (murder, emotional repression, adultification) in order to protect Sam and eventually to protect the world once he’s older. As we go through the seasons we see Dean start to falter on the black and white world view about monsters (the demon couple in S4 being one of the earliest examples that comes to mind) and start to realize that the world is more complicated and deserves a case by case basis for things, something he is able to do because his dad is dead and he’s his own boss. Despite this new flexibility, he still feels the responsibility to do things he’s good at (hunting) when he knows he’d be happier not doing it which is a regular source of internal and external conflict for him throughout the series.
Dean is known for not wanting to interrogate his own emotions and trauma, so when presented with someone who seems so similar to him in his resolve to do what it takes for his own ideas about protecting the world but being kinda evil about it he reacts aggressively. Obviously there are lots of other tensions between the two of them throughout S12, but the conversation they have in the Bunker over a bottle of scotch is really fascinating. Ketch spends most of it trying to appeal to what he sees as similarities with himself in Dean, ultimately concluding that the thing that links them is that they’re both killers. This is something lots of characters conclude about dean, that he is the ultimate killer (see: mark of Cain arc, S15 Chuck). However, unlike most other people who see Dean this way (including Dean himself sometimes), Ketch actually likes this about Dean. It’s something he can really respect even on opposite sides of a fight and the thing he’s been taught to value about himself. Obviously, this doesn’t go over as a bonding moment for Dean like Ketch wants cause Dean wants to be more than just a killer and does occasionally have an ounce of self worth.
When Ketch comes to kill dean at the end of the season, there’s a sense of taunting with the fact that Dean is going to have to kill him, undermining the sense of self worth at least a bit, or Ketch is gonna get to kill him, proving himself as the ultimate killer. This is cut with Mary killing him, because she’s the one who Ketch has truly wronged (there’s so much to say here about Mary being a foil for Dean too and how that works with her and Ketch but that’s more an aside)
Anyway from there the foil starts to ease up a bit and Ketch takes his place amongst the pile of weird hate fuck to lovers men that dean has.
Idk if any of that answers your question but hopefully so. Pls tell your friends I’m sorry for adding fuel to what will surely be a delight of a fire lmao

Tumblr media
From the moment you met Sam Winchester, he managed to get under your skin like no other.
You had met the Winchesters while hunting a siren, which, at the time, you didn't know what you were hunting. You were stumped with the evidence that you had found. But you had bumped into Dean while in the morgue, both posing as FBI agents and realizing that the other was a hunter soon after the coroner left the room. You had some idea who this hunter was, but when he finally dropped the FBI shtick and introduced himself as Dean Winchester, it confirmed your suspicions that you had when you asked Bobby for some help on this hunt and said he sent "one of the best" your way.
You were surprised at how well you got along with Dean, having heard some choice words that Bobby has described the Winchesters as a particular kind of character (his words, not yours). But you were not prepared to be met with hostility from the "infamous" Sam Winchester when Dean brought you back to their motel room.
Sam visibly bristled when you entered the room, which you chalked up as the fact that you were a stranger intruding in on a private space, which you wholly understood; you would have reacted in the same way. But when Dean clarified that you were the hunter they were sent to help with, Sam rolled his eyes and mumbled something under his breath.
You were a bit confused by the cold shoulder that Sam was giving you, and apparently so was Dean, having seen him give his brother a weird look after he interrupted you for the third time when trying to figure out what you guys were hunting. You bit your tongue each time he did, but the third time was enough, and you asked him what the hell his problem was with you. You genuinely wanted to know since you had been nothing but kind to him.
Sam rolled his eyes. "It's obviously a siren, but you wouldn't know that given that you're new at this." He said, completely disregarding your question, and he continued on with explaining his theory on what the monster the three of you were hunting was.
You stared at Sam, nostrils flared, and anger filled your veins at the fact he thought you were new at hunting. You were brought up to hunt from a very young age and had been for a very long time, so the fact that he thought you were an inexperienced hunter boiled your blood. You had heard about the Winchesters and their reputation growing up, knowing their prowess for hunting was high, but you never expected someone like Sam, who looked like a gentle giant at first glance, to be such a dick.
"Thank you for that boy genius. Do you ever actually get to kill the thing, or is your nose too busy to be stuck in a book and that's why you let your brother do the heavy lifting?" You retorted, looking at him with a cocked brow.
You saw Sam's jaw clench and eyes flash with irritation at your words. He went to respond, but Dean quickly intervened and tried to de-escalate the situation at hand. He practically sent you and Sam to timeout, having told you to go back to your room to cool off while he talked to Sam alone.
You pressed your lips together and tried not to stomp out of the room like a toddler having a tantrum. You left the room, slamming their door shut and went back to your room. You were muttering angrily to yourself as you walked back to your room. You can't believe that Sam had insulted your ability to hunt. He hadn't even seen you hunt before. You'd never expected Sam to be this much of an ass to you (you honestly thought it would be Dean to act this way from what you heard from Bobby).
Dean eventually came for you in your room and told you to come back. Once you were back in their room, Dean sat you down across Sam and lectured the two of you. He made you promise that you or Sam wouldn't take jabs at one another or try to provoke the other into an argument. So, like two disgruntled children, you both promised Dean that you guys wouldn't do any of that until after the hunt was over and you had killed the siren.
But once you killed that siren, you immediately left, not wanting to stay in the presence of Sam Winchester any longer than you had to. But as fate would have it, you guys would always seem to cross paths with you on hunts. Dean would always find you and invite you to hunt with them, and before you could even think about saying no, he'd pull a puppy dog look at you, and pout. Which, without fail, you would always say yes to.
Hunting with Sam was torture. He'd always nitpick the way you went about research and would take any chance to correct you about the lore behind particular creatures that you were hunting. Sam loved being insufferable toward you, and you could tell it brought him so much joy when you would have to storm away from him; otherwise, you would have broken his nose with a swift punch to his face.
You knew you hated Sam Winchester, and you knew for a fact that he had the same feelings toward you. You also despised the fact that you found him attractive. Sam was tall, almost too tall, had shaggy brown hair that he pulled off effortlessly, hazel eyes that seemed to be an endless pool of blues, greens, browns, and golds, and smug smirks he would send you when he was right about some obscure lore were deadly combinations for you.
You wished that you weren't drawn to him, but you saw the kind smiles and the soft eyes that never were directed at you, but he had when he talked to the victims on hunts. You even saw the dimples that he had when he'd smile at the stupid banter that he and Dean would have when the three of you were at a bar celebrating a job well done and Sam had loosened up with a couple of drinks in him.
"Stop squirming," Sam ordered you with a grumble, a frown on his face as he wiped the blood away from the gash on your back. His words brought you back to the present.
You glared at him through the mirror of the cramped motel bathroom the two of you were in. He took most of the space with his broad frame, standing behind you as your hands gripped the edge of the porcelain countertop, cleaning the wound you had gotten when the ghoul you were hunting threw you through a glass table and glass ended up cutting up your back. You would have cleaned it yourself, but it was in a spot where you needed to be a contortionist if you wanted to clean it yourself.
You would have asked Dean for help, but as soon as he cleaned up from the hunt, he left the motel to go to the nearest bar while you waited for Sam to be done with the shower. You wished you didn't have to share the room with the boys on this hunt, but when you arrived at the motel, there were no vacancies, so you had to bunk with the Winchesters.
You winced as Sam suddenly stuck the needle into your skin. The glass that sliced into your back was deep enough to where it needed stitches. You swore you saw something flicker in his eyes as his gaze looked up from your back, and you hissed slightly at the feeling before he focused on the task at hand. You were regretting ever saying yes to helping Dean.
"You need to be less reckless, I don't want to be the one patching you constantly." Sam mumbled as he threaded the needle through your skin.
You huffed angrily. "Yeah sure, next time I'll ask the ghoul to gently throw me through a glass table." You snapped at him.
You hissed through your teeth as you felt Sam tug on a stitch, making it tighter than it needed to be and sending a sting of pain through your back. You glared at him harder through the mirror as you saw the corner of his lip twitch significantly.
"Sorry, did that hurt?" He asked, his tone feigning innocence as he finished stitching up your wound. Sam tied off the stitch and sniped the thread, quickly grabbing some gauze and medical tape to cover your freshly sewn skin together. Once he was done, you grabbed the hem of the tank top you were wearing and pulled it down. Then, you reached for the first aid kit lying on top of the toilet seat.
"I can do the rest. You're released from your duties now." You tell Sam sarcastically as you eye the cut that was near your hairline.
As you were looking through the first aid kit to grab some ointment before you cleaned the cut, you felt Sam move out of the bathroom, the room feeling less suffocating as he did, but you didn't notice his eyes on you the entire time until he leaned against the doorway. Unfortunately for you, he stayed there with his gaze stuck on you.
You glanced to see his broad figure take up the entire doorway and scowled. "You can leave now, join your brother at the bar, I don't need your help anymore."
Sam didn't move an inch at your words. "Why do you hate me?" He asked instead of listening to you.
Your lips thinned into a straight line as you closed the first aid kid with more force than you intended, and a sharp laugh left your lips.
"Really? You're asking me this now? If anyone should be asking this question, it should be me."
You saw Sam shrugging out the corner of your eye. "Just curious, it's clear that you don't like me."
"That's rich coming from the man who has been nothing but hostile towards me the moment I set foot in the same room as him." You quickly tried to clean the cut on your forehead. Luckily, it wasn't as bad as it looked, and you swiftly cleaned it and placed a butterfly bandage on it.
"It's not like you were the most friendly either."
You turned to face Sam, a fiery look in your eyes. "Only because I tried to be nice to you, but you were nothing but a dick to me." You wanted nothing more but to slap Sam's stupidly handsome face.
Sam started to smirk, clearly enjoying getting you riled up. "Is that so?" He asked, tilting his head to the side. Sam's question felt demeaning.
"Oh for Christ's sake. I'm not doing this with you right now." You all but growled through gritted teeth. You pushed past Sam, hitting his shoulder hard as you made your way out of the bathroom and gathered your things. You've had it with Sam, and if he was going to play this game with you, you would just leave and never interact with the Winchesters again.
You tried putting on your jacket but cringed in pain when you felt your stitches pull, and a warm hand on your shoulder stopped you.
"You're gonna rip the stitches if you keep that up," Sam said in an uncharacteristically soft voice, which made you frown. You shrugged off his hand and turned around to see his eyebrows pinched. You hated that all you wanted to do was smooth out the wrinkles that formed in the middle.
You shook your head to get rid of that thought. "Oh, fuck off, Sam. Don't act like you care. If it wasn't for Dean being there, you would have probably left me there to bleed out."
Sam flinched at your harsh words, his face hardening before softening again as his hand twitched at his side like he wanted to reach out but fought against it.
"Look, I'm sorry for how I treated you." He licked his bottom lip. "I-you. I do care about you."
You looked at him with disbelief. "Really? Wow, could've fooled me." You sent him a sarcastic smile before turning back around, intending to leave the room. You couldn't care less about your stuff at the moment.
"Hey!" Sam called out for you and grabbed your arm to stop you from leaving. His grip on your arm was firm but not painful. You stopped in your tracks before closing your eyes and your tense shoulders relaxing at his touch.
"Sam." You intended for your voice to come out firm, but instead, it came out hoarse, almost tired.
Sam gently pulled you back towards him, and you let him turn you around so he could see him. Your eyes were still closed as you faced him, his grip on your arm slowly moving up and resting on your shoulder, his other hand moving to rest on your other shoulder.
You eventually opened your eyes to find Sam studying your face. His eyes were like a green haze. The warm lighting of the room made the flecks of brown and gold scattered throughout his eyes more prominent, threatening to take over the green.
Sam said your name softly as his thumbs started to swipe against your bare skin. "I do care about you, more than you know."
You scoffed. "Well, you have a shit way of showing it." His flawed logic was making the anger you felt earlier begin to rise again.
"I know, I know," Sam took a deep breath before speaking again. "When I saw you come into the room, you made me feel things I hadn't felt in a long time. So I thought if I was cold towards you, they would go away or at least hide what I actually felt toward you."
Irritation swelled in your chest.
"So, you decided to take the playground approach? Newsflash, Sam, you're an adult, and being a dick to someone won't make them like you. If you really wanted to make someone like you, you would be yourself or have the decency to be nice to them." You glared up at Sam as you ranted.
Sam smiled. That man started to smile, and it did nothing to quell the anger bubbling underneath your skin.
"What the hell are you smiling at Winchester?"
He shook his head, clearly trying to shove down his amusement. But his dimples threatened to appear as he cleared his throat and arranged his face into a more neutral expression before speaking.
"Look, I am sorry for how I treated you. I know we aren't kids, and I shouldn't have acted like a child toward you, but sometimes you make me feel like a stupid kid with a crush." Sam's hands squeezed your shoulders before they moved down your hands and held them.
You pursed your lips to bite back a smile that wanted to appear on your face. You felt your stomach flutter at Sam's admission as you looked down at your connected hands, his hands engulfing yours as his thumbs rubbed circles into the tops of them.
"You know, for someone so intelligent, you can be really dumb." You said as you inched closer to Sam.
Sam let out a chuckle at your words, a red hue on his cheeks growing as he smiled sheepishly down at you. You couldn't help but let a smile appear on your face at the sound of his amusement.
"Yeah, I know. I just really like you, and you make me feel stupid sometimes." Sam sighed as he stared down at you.
"Well, you're in luck because I seem to like your dumb ass too." You let go of one of his hands to cup his cheek.
Sam leaned into your touch. "Really?" His eyes lit up like he was a kid in a candy shop.
You rolled your eyes at the giant in front of you and pinched his cheek playfully. "No," You deadpan. "Although, your brother on the other hand…" You grinned sarcastically at him.
Sam took his turn to roll his eyes at you, and before you could tell him you were kidding, he let go of your hand, grabbed the nape of your neck, and pulled you into a passionate kiss.
You almost yelped into his mouth from how fast Sam moved. His other hand moved to your waist as your hand that wasn't cupping his cheek went to rest on his shoulder. Sam moved the two backward until he sat down on the edge of the bed, lifted you, and placed you on his lap.
Desire filled your veins as Sam's lips moved against yours fervently. A small moan fell from your lips as Sam nipped at your bottom lip and took the opportunity to slide his tongue into your mouth, groaning lowly when your tongue slid against his.
It was as if you were both finally on the same wavelength because, in moments, his tongue was already exploring the inside of your mouth. His hands slide down to your sides, where he caresses your body with both his hands. You both seemed to be completely lost in this kiss, as you both forgot about anything else around you, like time and space.
His lips eventually left yours, feeling out of breath as he dotted kisses across your jaw and down your neck. His hands moved to the hem of your tanktop and slid it up, slowly exposing more and more of your skin until it was entirely off, leaving you in your bra in front of him. Sam managed to rip his lips from your neck to drink in your body, his hazel eyes dark with desire.
"You're so beautiful." He breathed out as his hands moved up your back, almost covering the entire length of it from how big his hands were. Sam reaches for the clasp of your bra but stops when he brushes over the bandage on your back. Sam pulled back slightly, looking at you with a slight frown on his face.
You wanted to do nothing but kiss it away, so you did. Your lips touched Sam's softly as your hands reached for the hem of his shirt. He let you take it off of him, only breaking from the kiss to get it over his head.
You drank in Sam's bare torso. Taking in every inch of him. His tattoo stands out against his tanned skin, his muscles expanding and contracting as he breathes heavily. Sam was like a marble statue that came to life.
The motel room was silent, save for your and Sam's heavy breathing as you stared at each other. Sam's hand was still resting on the part of your back that was bandaged.
"You sure you're up for this right now?" Sam asked with concern, lacing his tone.
You smiled at him and nodded. "I might implode if you stop right now."
Sam laughed at your words, his dimples appearing as he smiled widely at you. "Oh, wow. Implode huh?" He raised his eyebrows in surprise as his smile turned into a flirty smirk.
You nodded, a serious expression on your face as you rested your forehead on his. "Yep, we wouldn't want that happening now would we?" A sultry smile on your face as you teased his lips with little pecks.
Sam's hands moved back to your waist and squeezed. "No we wouldn't." He answered before he caught your lips between his. Your hands moved from his bare shoulders to the nape of his neck, and you started to tug at the longer strands of hair, making him groan into the kiss.
Sam's hands moved up your back and unclasped your bra, almost tearing the straps off as he tugged them from your arms and threw the bra somewhere in the room. His lips left yours to trail down your neck and chest, and you leaned back, exposing your chest to him more. And you let out a soft moan, feeling him nip at your smooth skin and taking one of your nipples in his mouth, licking and sucking at it.
The hands that were wound in his head began to tug at his hair harder as he moved from one breast to the other. He let out a low growl against you, sending vibrations down your spine and into the heat that was pooling in your core.
One of Sam's hands moved down your body and to the front of your pants, and the button on your jeans popped open with a flick of his fingers. His hand slowly made its way past your underwear, and he pulled away from your chest with a groan when he felt how wet you were.
"This all for me?" Sam asked with a salacious grin on his face as two of his fingers swiped through your slit, coating his fingers and moving up to rub at your clit. You whimpered as you nodded, your hips rutting against his hand, and you could feel yourself getting wetter as he rubbed at your clit faster.
Sam abruptly stopped, pulled his hand away, and tugged at your pants urgently. You managed to get out of your pants and underwear with the help of his insistent hands, and once they were off, he grabbed your hips and fell backward on the bed, pulling you up until your naked core was level with his face.
"Sam!" You yelped, surprised at his strength and sudden manhandling.
"I don't want to hurt your back, but I really need to taste you," Sam said as he looked at your cunt hungrily.
"You sure?" You looked down at him hesitantly.
Sam's eyes softened as he looked up at you, his thumbs drawing circles on your thighs. "We can stop right here if you want."
You bit down on your bottom lip before shaking your head. "Just don't want to hurt you."
"You won't," He reassured you before smirking. "Besides, I wouldn't mind going out like this. 'S better than the alternative."
You laughed at Sam's words, putting you at ease, and you nodded at him to go ahead.
"I'll need words pretty girl." Sam squeezed your thighs.
You felt a heat bloom on your face and in your core at his words as you brushed back Sam's bangs from his forehead.
"Sam, please I need you." You all but whined.
"You have me." Sam said before pulling you on top of his face, burying his head between your thighs as his tongue began to lick and suck at your clit.
Moans began to escape your lips as your hips began to rut into his face, his tongue now lapping at your entrance as his nose nudged against your sensitive nub. You could feel the knot in your lower belly get tighter and tighter as Sam moved back to suck at your clit, and two of his fingers prodded at your entrance before slipping with little resistance. You felt so full with his fingers inside you. Sam's fingers quickly found your g-spot and began to rub at it, making you arch your back almost painfully at the intense pleasure Sam was giving you.
"Fuck! Sam I-I'm close."
At your words, Sam seemed to grow even hungrier for you to come. You tugged at his hair hard and rutted against his face faster before he sucked at your clit hard and pressed against your g-spot, making you fall over the edge as stars danced behind your eyes and you clenched around his fingers.
You could feel the vibration of Sam's low groan in your cunt as he tasted you, lapping at you until you were too sensitive. You climbed off of him with shakey legs and collapsed beside him; a layer of sweat coated the entirety of your naked body as you tried to catch your breath. Sam pressed soft kisses to your shoulder and collarbone as he waited for you to calm down.
Once you had calmed down, Sam caught your lips in a soft kiss.
"You okay?" He mumbled against your lips.
"More than." You smiled against his lips before you kissed him deeply. Sam slowly moved to hover over you. One of your hands moved from the bed to the waistband of the pants that Sam was wearing and inched downward until it cupped the bulge that was very prominent in his sweatpants.
Sam's groan was muffled by your lips, but before you could even think about taking off Sam's belt, the motel room door swung open and hit the wall with a slam. You and Sam quickly separated, and bless Sam, he pulled the covers over you to shield Dean's eyes from your naked form as he stood at the foot of the bed.
"Woah!" You heard Dean exclaim, and you looked over to see him walking back outside and closing the door.
"Finally! You could have cut the sexual tension between the two of you with a knife. But make sure to put a sock on the doorknob next time," Dean said through the closed door of the motel. You and Sam looked at each other, both of you flustered by the fact that Dean walked in on you guys.
"I'll be in the Impala tonight. Sammy, make sure you use protection!" He called through the door and promptly walked away from the door.
You stared at Sam before breaking out into a fit of laughter. Sam started to chuckle as he heard you laughing. A warmth bloomed in his chest when he saw your body shake. You laughed a bit too hard, and you felt a sharp pain come from your back. Sam saw you winced and walked over to you with worry in his eyes.
"Are you okay? Did I hurt you?" His eyes flicked up and down your body quickly.
You shook your head, "No, just my back, I might have pulled a stitch or something."
"Let me check." Sam gestured for you to turn around.
You took off the covers and rolled onto your stomach to let Sam check your stitches. You felt him pull back the bandage before replacing it again.
"You didn't tear anything, but it's probably not a good idea to continue with what we were doing before Dean barged in."
You huffed a laugh as you turned back to face Sam. "You mean before you were about to fuck me?"
Sam flushed red at your words but threw his head back to laugh. The sound made you grin before you joined in; his giggles were infectious.
"Yeah, before that." He nodded and responded when he calmed down, the occasional chuckle escaping his lips.
You sighed dramatically. "If you insist." You knew it wasn't a good idea to have sex with him when your back was out of commission, but it didn't mean that you wanted to jump his bones; you really did.
Sam smiled before patting your thigh and getting up from the bed to grab the shirt he was wearing earlier that night and toss it to you. You caught it, and you couldn't help but smile as you put it on his shirt. You were engulfed by Sam's smell. The notes of citrus, mint, mahogany, and his musk made you melt inside.
The two of you got underneath the covers of the bed, and Sam was quick to tuck you into his side. You threw your leg over his hips as you used his bicep as a pillow. You let out a contented sigh as you settled in Sam's embrace.
Sam looked over at you, used his free hand to tilt your chin towards him, and kissed you gently. "Goodnight." He murmured against your lips.
"Night Sammy." You whispered before giving him one last lingering kiss and tucking your head in the crook of his neck. The events of the day hit you, and with the warmth of Sam's bare chest, the exhaustion consumed you. The last thing you could remember before you entered your dreamscape was Sam kissing your forehead softly before pulling you closer to him.

1st Official Blog!! (not another intro post, I promise)
Tumblr media
Hello all and welcome to my first official post!
For these blogs I was wondering what order I should write them in— preference or chronological. If you have any opinions on the matter, please feel free to say so in the comments! :)
As for now, I figured tackling these blogs chronologically would be the most organized option, so without further ado, here are my opinions on season one of Supernatural!
Season 1 Opinions
Personally, I love season one. It has the charm that season 1-5 has while also being completely individualistic. Of course, this individuality can be chalked up to the fact the show runners were trying to decide whether they would continue to air on an episode by episode basis.
Despite it all, this season achieved a wonderful feat, as it would attracted thousands of viewers who would anxiously wait for the release of season two.
As a result, a very interesting take on a monster-hunter show was created. Nothing like Scooby-Doo, no, because all the monster research led to real monsters. Ghosts, Wendigos, Demons, and Shtigras are among the list of monsters Sam and Dean faced during their season one adventures.
The show also created an interesting plot-schema; each episode focusing on a specific monster hunt while all eventually tying into the overarching plot of our favorite boys finding their missing father. This kept the show fresh and fun to watch, and gave the show-writers the chance to introduce a new, fleshed out monster every episode, which helped greatly expand the fresh lore that was the Supernatural show.
What I love most about this season, however, is how it cements the brotherly relationship between Sam and Dean. These two cannot spend a moment without bickering, making fun of, or trying to prank one another. It’s clear to see just from season one that this will be a tale of two brothers that obviously hold a deep brotherly bond. I’m a sucker for a family, and family is something this show does right when it comes to Sam and Dean. While not shying away from their shared childhood traumas and grievances tied to their absent father figure, the show makes it clear that Sam and Dean have a bond that would be hard to find in anyone else except for each other, as they both have the shared experience of being raised monster-hunters.
All in all, I adore season one! I find myself rewatching the pilot on repeat just to see Dean and Sam tackle “the lady in white” ghost. It’s unique and it’s a season I believe can hook even the most assuming of viewer!
My Favorite Character for season 1 is (drumroll please)…
Tumblr media
Dean Winchester !!!!!
Tumblr media
From the very first episode, this man had me hooked. From his snarky attitude to his constantly flirty retorts, there was something about him in season one that has had me hooked from the ages of 14 to 21. He’s funny, he’s witty, and he’s got an insanely nice leather jacket. It was my first, and maybe my only time, finding a deep love for the playboy-archetype character.
In season one he rugged, and it’s clear he uses humor when a majority of people wouldn’t. He’s a lighthearted contrast to his worrying younger brother, while also consistently being a big brother figure— it’s a big feat!
Other than that, young Jensen Ackles is an absolutely gorgeous man. Just look at those eyes!
My favorite scene:
This scene depicts the first of Dean’s many encounters with law enforcement.
youtube
and that concludes my first blog!
I hope you enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed writing this! I love talking about Supernatural and will take any and all opportunities to speak on the show. If you’ve watched the show yourself, let me know if you agree with my opinions on season one in the comments! I would also love to hear who your favorite characters are!! :)
Well, until next week! Later, assbutts!

Fuck John Winchester.
Think that clues you into the fandom this question belongs to.
(By this point I was staring into space wondering whether I should ask all my supernatural questions in this ask or just do individual asks. But I forgot most of my questions so you get the original question)
What do you think about Dean's charactersion?
Dean’s got a lot of things going for him. He’s got older-sibling syndrome and is feeling it in his bones at this point. I mean, what, he was 5 when he started learning to hunt? Learning that his brother needed to stay safe and that he was in charge? I mean, his childhood wasn’t easy, his first solo hunt was at 17 years old, a gift from his old man.
Great way to go, John, wooo we love that for you, perfect gift 👌
Really, he drew the short end of the stick. The brother he loves more than anything (and is literally willing to die multiple times for) is seemingly destined for a path of darkness, his ‘uncle’ Bobby becomes a target for those after him and Sam, his friends die in horrific ways, one dying to save Sam who didn’t even like him. I’d call it a hero-complex, but its really just the older-sibling syndrome that makes him feel responsible for practically all the ‘kids’ he adopts into the family (Charlie, Jo, Claire).
He sums up his childhood well with Mary I do believe, saying he had never been a child, was never given the chance for it. Like I mentioned, he’s been trained to fight since a very young age, and he’s a fighter of the two brothers. Not that Sam doesn’t fight, and not that Dean doesn’t do the research portion, but the two are seemingly set in the role of Fighter(Campbell/Hunter)Dean, Researcher(Winchester/Man of Letters)Sam for a lot of the, er, background shenanigans that fill episodes (My mind goes to the wonderful, near catch-phrase “So get this” we hear innumerable times from Sam).
Tumblr media
But let's look at his behaviour rather than his existence. Dean can be highly judgmental and bigoted, especially when on a hunt to a point of being hypocritical (Benny). For much of his arc he has a hard time getting behind the fact that there are monsters who don’t really go out of their way to hurt humans, some that even actively try not to, but they’re all just monsters to him. I think this could be best seen with Season 4 and the, errrr, Demon-blood arc Sam goes through (in fairness, Sam is quite consistently high on demon-blood through the season so a bit of leeway I suppose).
Dean also is highly manipulative, something he learnt from his father in my mind. Like, there are two deans, one where you can see the Caretaker role that was pushed upon him by John, and then the Fighter that John made him to be. This manipulation, however, is seen more and more as seasons progress, through outright lies to flipping truths and just not giving necessary information at times.
Dean has repeatedly made it clear and obvious that Sam is and always will be the priority, no matter what, especially in later seasons. In earlier seasons Dean would do everything he could to protect Sam, but not to the extent of putting others in danger (Nancy in "Jus In Bello"). But over the years his mindset has been shifted from "Nobody's expendable except me" to "Everyone's expendable except Sam", which is oddly poetic with the finale I suppose.
Dean’s character is also full of self-loathing and insecurity. Which, unfortunatley considering the nature of his job, seems almost common. Dean is, or showing many signs of, being depressed, being fed up with his lot in life, and he's not really optimistic about the future. And how could he be? How many apocalypses do you need to stop before you can have a goddamned vacation? Time after time the world is set to basically implode and the only thing stopping it is these two brothers (and their gathered band of friends who usually die on them), and like all those deaths, Dean knows he is going to one day die doing this job.
The weight of the world is (literally in some cases) on Dean's shoulders. It can be seen through many episodes and through many actions, like with Dean's confession when Sam dies first where he says that his job is only to keep Sam safe so he goes to trade his life for Sam by making a deal and when Bobby confronts him about said deal and asks him if he's that screwed in the head and Dean said he did it so his life could mean something. Possibly more damning is Castiel, when they first meet, who says he doesn't think Dean deserves to be saved. This is why season 15's last two (proper) episodes showed so much character growth from this, Dean stand up to God/Chuck, he gets to be important and knows this now (from Cas in 15x18) and even in the final episode, where he dies as he always believed he would, he does in in such a way that is honourable. He stops Sam from calling for help, accepting this 'defeat', and finally after a fucking long time, takes a rest.
Dean also has an interesting characteristic of adopting blame, especially those who he thinks of as family. Which, is another thing I’m probably attributing to John cause fuck him as your ask said. Now, externally and unlike Sam, Dean didn’t resent John for raising his sons like warriors. But, through the actions in the show, this definitely feels very much not the case. He tries running away at one point, well, not really running away, arrested and sent to a Home for Boys. But in the flashbacks we see of this time, John believed this to be a punishment for Dean's careless behaviour with Sam. Meanwhile, Dean is actually doing well, being normal, he's making friends, doing great in school, and while he is  taking mystical precautions from demons and he's being a kid.
This is also the episode where Dean Admits to not wanting to join the family business, or that he doesn't enjoy it. And just as life is going good, John shows up. Not only that, John shows up with Sam in his car and tearfully Dean knows he needs to go, to protect Sam as he's been raised to from all the horror's in the world including their father. I don’t think these thoughts actually changed. I don’t think he ever wanted to keep hunting, but Dean’s character is chalk full of familial loyalty, and when John goes missing on a hunt, he can’t just leave. He goes to find Sam, starting what we know as Season 1.
The last point to touch on should be Season 12, we’re a long time gone with John and here we go getting Mommy issues, which the show didn’t need to introduce but I suppose now we have Mommy and Daddy issues to factor in. Annnnyway, there’s a lot of betrayal happening in this season (from Mary doing sus bullshit to Castiel and Crowleys unlikely partnership), and Dean is affected by all of it personally. Which is very fair, humans are allowed to feel emotions when things happen, this is good.
Emotions are good.
We like emotions.
Anyway, a lot of shit hits the fan very quickly, because Dean is trying to reconnect memories from when he was four years old to, roughly, 37 years old and there's a lot of struggling going around. A lot more cynicism is shown through his character after this season, a lot more, er, despair. There’s also a lot of, what I’d deem to call, religious resentment, more in the fact that Dean actually can put a face to God and yell at him about the world rather than a deity in the sky, but in later seasons and earlier seasons there is a distinct lack of faith that Dean holds towards Chuck, whereas Sam seemed to be the opposite in the earlier seasons.

The Story of Us-Chapter 7
Tumblr media
A/N: This is a rewrite of a story my good friend @spnbaby-67 allowed me to take and rewrite. All mistakes are mine. This is canon divergent, meaning some things that happened in the show will still happen here but with my own twist to it.
Summary: She and Dean met when they were kids. Even at such a young age, she knew that he was her soulmate. Being the daughter of a hunter, Michaela (Micki) Singer knew the life he led came with a price, but she was up to the challenge.
Pairings: Dean Winchester/reader, Sam Winchester/friend!reader, John Winchester, Mary Winchester (mentioned only), Bobby Singer, and more from the Supernatural universe.
Warnings: Flashbacks are in italics, fluffy stuff, angst stuff, character death, kidnapping, depression, semi-dark themes
WC: 1,225
Winter 1997
Micki paces nervously inside the bathroom of her childhood home. She is too young, they are too young. How could this have happened?!
Well, she knows how it could have happened but still, hoooow? She checks her watch for the millionth time.
One more minute.
One more minute until she finds out if she is carrying Dean's child. One more minute until she finds out if she is going to have to break the news to her father, thus breaking his heart.
Dean was off with John in Ohio,  hunting a wraith. Yes, Micki knows the truth now. After Dean had shown up a month after their last encounter with a badly injured John, he and Bobby broke the news to her.
Things that go bump in the night do exist!
She also learned the truth about her Mom. Karen Singer had become possessed by a demon and her father had to take her out; he had to kill his own wife.
Micki had cried, not only for her mother but for the fact that Bobby had to do that to keep her safe! He was truly her hero. Well, one of them.
Finding out that Dean also hunted these beings and monsters alongside his dad made her appreciate him even more.
But now when she needed him the most, he was off saving the world.
Seventeen was too young to become a mother, to bring a baby into this world, to put him or her in the line of fire.
She looks at the test that is in the sink and exhales a slow, thankful breath.  Negative. Her period was just late. Thank God!
A week later.  Dean returns and Micki lets him in on the scare she'd had.
"Goddammit Mick! How could you…." he yelled as he paced back and forth between the totalled vehicles
"Me? How could I?" she yelled in return. "It wasn't my dick that got a little too excited and shot too soon. I fucking told you we need a rubber but no, you just had to fuck me bare!"
"I know!" Dean screamed, exasperated. He punched the window of the nearest car, shattering the glass and slicing his knuckles.  "Son of a bitch!"
Micki stood there, seething, as he cleaned up his hand and wrapped his handkerchief around it.
"So, you're not pregnant?" he said, finally calmed down.
"No, I'm not carrying your illegible bastard you asshole."
"Mick," Dean pleads but it falls in deaf ears.
"No! You listen to me jackass," Micki says, anger pulsing through her body. "This was terrifying for me. I am seventeen years old. Hell, I'm still in school. I'm too young to have a baby. But if I had been, it would've been your responsibility too!"
"I know that," Dean said, defeated.  He was well aware of everything she was saying. "But we dodged that bullet. We'll just be more careful next time. No bareback, condoms are a necessity."
"No," Micki states. "There will be no next time. We're done. Goodbye Dean."
And with that she stomps away, leaving Dean stunned and heartbroken.
Tumblr media
Present Day (2008)
Dean and Maren come out of the bedroom to find her grandfather and Uncle poring over lore books and ancient mythology documents.
They both look up as Dean makes his way to the coffee pot and pours the black liquid into a mug, one-handed.
After taking a sip, he grabs a bottle from the dish rack and tries to figure out what to do next.
Sam stands up and comes over, taking the bottle and fixes it, pouring water in it and adding the powdered formula. After shaking it to mix the two, he hands it to his older brother.
"Thanks," Dean mumbles, his attention mostly on his little girl. He takes a seat at the table and watches Maren eat., no one saying a word.
The only sounds in the quiet room are pages being turned and breaths being inhaled and exhaled and Maren nursing.
Suddenly Sam jumps up from his chair with a page in his hand. "I got it!"
The abrupt interruption startles them all, including Maren who pulls away from her bottle and begins crying.
"Sam! Geez," Dean says as he coddles his daughter, trying to get her to calm down. "It's okay sweetie. Uncle Sam just got excited. He's sorry. Shhh."
"Yea, sorry baby girl," Sam says.  "Dean, I know what pulled you out."
Once Dean gets Maren quieted and she finishes eating, he burps her and changes her before she falls asleep in his arms. He lays her in the bassinet on his side of the bed, leaving the bedroom door ajar to be able to hear her when she wakes up.
He walks back into the kitchen, grabbing his mug and taking a drink of the now lukewarm coffee before pouring it out and refilling it.
"So, what'd you find? What cut me loose?"
Sam gestures to all the books and pages spread out on the table,  "This is all Biblical, pre-Biblical. It all says an angel can snatch a soul from the pit."
"I was not groped by no angel!" Dean demands,  making his brother and Bobby look at him, bewildered.
He lifts the arm of the t-shirt he's wearing where a red handprint is branded on the top of his arm. The skin is blistered and convexed, like a burn.
Both Sam and Bobby look shocked. "So, what else could it be?"
"Okay, look, Dean. Why do you think the lore would lie about it?" Bobby asks.
Dean sighs, rolling his eyes.  "Don't you think that if angels were real, that some hunter somewhere would have heard of one... at some point... ever?
"I'm not talking about prehistoric bullshit written in archaic hieroglyphs and symbols. How do you know you translated it right? Maybe it was written by some kind of demon. Demons lie."
"Dean," Sam sighs,  completely disgruntled  with his stubborn brother. "Apparently you did. Do you actually not remember anything?"
"No dude. It was May, we were running from hellhounds then it's September and I'm waking up in a pine box, clawing my way out of the ground. Thanks for that, by the way."
Bobby, who'd been quiet for the whole morning, finally speaks up. "Would you two idjits quit arguing religion or you want to come look at this?"
Sam and Dean gather behind Bobby and look over his shoulder. "There's a psychic I know, she lives a few hours out.  I could maybe get her to drive up. See if she's heard the other side talking."
Dean considers the option. Bringing a stranger in where his daughter and her unconscious mother is, to him, is risky. Not knowing if this person is legit or a total counterfeit is the foremost worry of his mind.
But if Bobby trusts the psychic and she might have some answers to what is actually going on, Dean figures she's safe.
"I guess a phone call wouldn't hurt," Dean tells Bobby then turns and heads down the hall to the bedroom to check on his girls.
As soon as he enters the room, Dean notices that Micki has tears running down her still unconscious face. He rushes to the bed, pulling his girlfriend into his lap, he holds  her tightly.
"What's wrong baby?"

here’s my analysis of a 14-yr-old supernatural episode
so remember that episode where sam fucked a werewolf? because he related to her unwilling monstrosity? well that episode is actually just about dean starting to come to grips with his childhood and his sexuality.
if you ship w/ncest do not interact. this post is not anti-sam either btw.
content warning: discussions of childhood trauma, internalized homophobia, guns, killing.
does include some images with Image Descriptions following them.
Tumblr media
[ID: An over-the-shoulder close-up shot from the episode, focused on Madison, the werewolf, as she cries. Dean is standing behind her. They are both looking at Sam, whose shoulder is on the edge of the frame. End ID.]
Brief episode recap just in case u don’t remember. This ep is 2x17 “Heart.” Sam and Dean are hunting a werewolf. They discover that the woman they interviewed, Madison, is a werewolf (not THEE werewolf, but one of them). Sam develops a lil crush on her <3 I wrote the majority of this after watching it for the first time in almost SIX years, so i was just vibing the whole time UNTIL the last shot changed it all for me. So let me explain!
Three important points that i will refer back to:
1. The episode begins with Dean being excited to hunt a werewolf because "what about a human by day, a freak animal killing machine by moonlight don't you understand? I mean, werewolves are badass. We haven't seen one since we were kids."
2. Then the episode centers on Sam and his relationship with the werewolf woman and his own monstrosity: "[Dean: Sam, she's a monster and you're feeling sorry for her?] Maybe I understand her."
3. BUT THEN the last shot of the episode is of Dean crying as music plays (see below for the specific lyrics) and then Dean jumps at the sound of the gunshot. That's it! That's the end of the episode!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID: For all three screencaps, Dean is looking torturously sad. Each one is zoomed a little bit closer to his face than the last. In the last image, Dean sheds a single man tear. The captioned lyrics for the first one say "Relax, child, you were there." The second says "but only didn't realize" and the third says "and you were scared." End ID]
Even though the story is supposed to be about Sam and his monstrosity, and partly about his relationship w/romance since this is the first person he’s slept with since Jess died (at least with what is shown on screen)...the Dean Sandwich tells us otherwise. We're supposed to be taking away something about DEAN here. Like, that's the whole purpose behind the last shot focusing solely on Dean instead of Sam who is AT THAT MOMENT, KILLING THE GIRL HE HAS FEELINGS FOR. It's literally a heartbreaking, devastating, super traumatic thing for Sam to be going through, but instead we're watching Dean as a single tear slides down his face lmao. It's because this episode is about DEAN, and furthering his story.
Let’s not queer this just yet. The death of the werewolf is about/representing his loss of innocence. It's a violent disconnect from his childhood. Point # 1 shows that he is fascinated by werewolves because since he was a kid he thought they were badass, not to mention all the werewolf films he references throughout. Then, through the music lyrics over that last scene, they mirror that theme of childhood. They’ve done this before, having the diegetic music directly reference what the characters are going through. No different here: Dean is the child they’re referring to.
I have to reiterate that that's the last thing we hear before the gunshot cuts the music short and then the cut to black. "You were scared" is the last thing we hear before the gunshot, as Dean cries. ALSO I have to reiterate that Dean was looking forward to killing a werewolf and shooting it himself. So it's super fascinating that, not only is Sam the one that kills the werewolf, WE DON’T EVEN SEE IT HAPPEN.
Tumblr media
[ID: A medium-close shot of Dean as he looks at Sam, who takes up the right half of the frame. The caption says, “Sammy, I got this one. I’ll do it.” End ID.]
Am i gonna have to say this now? The werewolf is a metaphor, okay? It's a metaphor for his innocence, which is long-dead, forever doomed. I mean, a lot of kids love werewolves because they ARE badass! It's a classic monster that anyone could easily obsess over, and with Dean's childhood it must've seemed even cooler, knowing they're real and having the power to kill this "mythical" beast. So the way he's looking forward to killing one is the way a child imagines themselves as a hero.
But what happens instead is a tragic mercy killing. It's flipping his fantasy completely on its head, and it makes Dean realize that.....his fantasies are just fantasies. They aren't real, never would be. There's nothing heroic about killing this werewolf. It's tragic as hell. When he offers to kill her himself, it's just to relieve Sam's burden, but he's reluctant still. Because, as he keeps saying, he doesn't want to be a hunter! He doesn't want this life! He's tired of killing! And that's also what he's mourning as he cries and startles at the gunshot. His fantasies will never be real and his childhood could never have been normal and he never got a chance to be a kid because being a hunter was thrust on him at such a young age. And now it feels inescapable.
Tumblr media
[ID: A gif of the slow zoom on Dean’s face as the single tears slips down his cheek. He jumps at the gunshot, then blinks and his lip wobbles. End ID.]
So now we can queer it :-) Of course all monster stories can be easily queered, but werewolves are popularly queered. The first example that comes to mind is An American Werewolf in London (1981) isn’t an overtly queer film (though it is Jewish!) but it’s definitely read that way by a lot of people!! Anyway the film was directed by John Landis which JUST SO HAPPENS to be the pseudonym Dean goes by in this episode. hmm. (Also, interestingly, the BTVS ep where the first gay character comes out references this film too)
Tumblr media
[ID: Sam and Dean are standing close to each other. Sam is in the foreground, not in focus. Dean, behind him, says, “Landis. And Detective Dante.” End ID.]
There’s this essay about the queer werewolf that you can read here (and they also talk about fandom in it! very fascinating), where they say in the intro: “the werewolf seems an obvious choice as a queer monster with its identity-disrupting hybridity, as well as its atavistic, and, thus, disallowable sexuality.” A lot like Kristeva’s theory of the abject body! which is popular in queer theory.
This episode is then queering Sam—his attraction to the werewolf makes him abject—but it also queers Dean thru the way his attitude towards the werewolf transforms (get it?) throughout the ep. His desire and eagerness to kill the werewolves is obviously ingrained in him from John’s parenting. Consider what he said in 2x03 “Bloodlust”: “And the way he raised us, to hate those things—and man, I hate them, I do.” In conjunction with the monsters in the show being seen as queer allegories (the gorgon, as an example of an explicit comparison), Dean’s excitement to kill the werewolf can be read as internalized homophobia and repressing any of his own feelings.
Remember, though, right before that line in “Bloodlust,” he also said, “What if we killed things that didn’t deserve killing?” He’s really beginning to question whether all monsters are bad, and what it means to kill them. Is he also questioning what he believes of queer people? What John believed of queer people? The loss of innocence and queering both slot together through that final shot, imo: he’s crying because he realizes his fantasies aren’t real, but he’s also mourning the fact that he never could have had the chance to grow up without John’s control, and now it’s forever tainted his worldview. What else could he have been without that? (The answer is evident in 4x17 “It’s a Terrible Life.”)
Dean was taught to hate queer people but he doesn't want to. He wants to get out of the life but it feels inescapable. He wants to kill a werewolf and then when he has the chance, he doesn't want to. He actually cries as it's killed. It scares him, having to confront that what he thought he knew was wrong, but he knows all the same that he’ll never have the chance to have grown up without that.

*THE* mean-girl-dean-girl's Supernatural reboot MEGAPOST!
I'm gonna stick a little "keeping reading" here because hoooooo boy, this is a very long post.
Let's start with
Plot
Season 1
Dean kills John while they are out on a hunt in a crime of passion, but Dean doesn't remember because he blacked out. Cue Dean going to Stanford to get Sam and tell him "Dad's on a hunting trip... and he hasn't been home in a couple days."
The audience doesn't know what happened to John, but slowly figures it out with Dean and Sam as Dean slowly remembers what happened that night.
The entire first season, the boys are following the trail John left and fighting monsters as well. They find out Dean was with John, Sam realizes Dean has an unreliable memory, they have heart to hearts about their childhood and the fire, they find John's body, "how could you kill Dad?" but maybe Dean didn't kill dad, whooaaaaaa, misdirection.
It was actually good ole yeller eyes (Azazel) and he made it look like Dean killed John.
Okay, now let's move on to the first episode
Not sure how the opening would work, I would like the story of the fire to be revealed over the course of the first season, but maybe the opening scene could be a little bit of an establishing character relationships and backstory, idk, I haven't thought that far yet.
I'm thinking maybe it's like, Dean gets back to a motel room covered in blood and he listens to a voicemail on his phone from John saying he was on a hunt or something, I don't really know lol.
HOWEVER
I do know that after the intro rolls, we get a scene of Sam waking up to his alarm and "Nine to Five" by Dolly Parton starts playing.
Y'all know where this is going.
Cue a montage of Sam's normal Stanford college life (him sitting through lectures, walking through the campus with friends) spliced with scenes of Dean absolutely slaughtering a nest of vampires (or some other monsters, whatever works best.)
But
Now onto
Characters!!! (And descriptions)
Dean Winchester
Some lovely person on this site made edits of Dean with platinum blond hair and it made me feel some kind of way so we're doing that, homie's gonna have platinum blond hair
Side note about the hair, later when the brothers are running from the FBI he dyes it a dirty blond/light brown (insert jackles hair color controversy here) as a disguise.
He also gets tattoos because we were robbed.
Speaking of tattoos, concept: when Dean comes back from Hell, all of his tattoos are gone. His body is a clean slate, devoid of tattoos, scars, etc. So he gets his tattoos done all over again, which he doesn't mind because he made some bad, drunk tattoo decisions in his youth.
(And before you ask, yes, he does get one for Cas, either a bee or Cas's name in enochian, something cute.)
Dean goes to therapy after Sam gets sent to the Cage.
It's actually court mandated because he got in trouble, lol, he would never go to therapy on his own.
Along with the hair, Dean gets to be the grade A twunk we all know he is.
Sam Winchester
His hair gets longer in every scene he's in
No jk, but imagine
King of Microaggressions
Sam starts off like the sweetheart he is in season 1 but in later seasons he starts enjoying killing a little too much...
It's that demon blood, ba-by!!!
He brings up issues of morality to Dean, i.e. killing monsters who aren't hurting anyone. (Yes I know this is contradictory to my previous statement, but these two facets of Sam can and will coexist.)
Sam and Jess's relationship is explored further, meaning we'll need to start with a different inciting incident, but that's fine, I think everyone can agree fridgings are *(thumbs down)*
Sam doesn't truly know what happened the night of the fire until later, and then he understands why Dean is so protective of him.
Jess
She gets to live beyond the first episode
She is also trans
No, I don't feel like I have to explain myself and I won't 💜
She urges Sam to join Dean in a search for their brother, kind of gets pulled into the hunter lifestyle by association lol.
She dies on a rusty nail after fighting vampires on a routine hunt with Sam
No jk!!!
But imagine....
She's amazing and I love her and Lucifer also uses her as leverage against Sam and possesses her because I think that'd be cool.
She supports Sam 100% and also she and Dean are buddies, pals if you will.
She meets Cas Thee El and immediately she Knows, that is a homosexual.
She dies still so that we can have a Saileen Endgame but she's not dying the first episode or in a fridging. Not on my watch.
Castiel
He gets to keep his raw, light-fixture-exploding power.
I want more of that "I pulled you out of hell, I can throw you back in" energy except over dumb shit like Dean not cleaning up after himself.
He looks like a Dilf in every scene he's in, yeah, that's right, dilf with a capital D for *(GUNSHOTS)* *(gets sent to horny jail)*
Claire
She gets pink hair
And more time with Cas
And maybe a nose piercing
Feel like she should be able to kill a couple angels onscreen, punch a couple homophobes
She gets to meet Jack and teaches him swears and fun slang words.
She deserves it.
Jack
I says "that's my baby and I'm proud."
Jack starts off as a baby, but like Amara he grows up super quickly.
Like, baby to 11 year old in a couple days or less.
This is because Jack's emotional age on the show is on par with that of a 5th grader.
It's at this point when he's a young kid that he runs away from the Bunker and shenanigans ensue.
It's also at this point that Dean threatens to k*ll him.
(Still not sure if I want that in my Supernatural (threatened infanticide? In my Supernatural? It's more likely than you think) but we'll see. We'll see.)
Throughout a majority of season 13, Jack is like an 11 y.o. kid
Season 14 he's like a 16 y.o. teenager
Season 15 he's 21, you get the picture.
Listen, I love Alex Calvert a lot. He's great.
But Jack is a child and should be a child.
Kelly Kline
Kelly, baby, stay right where you are, you're perfect.
Eileen
SHE DOESN'T DIE
SHE GETS TO BE IN THE FINALE BECAUSE SHE'S AMAZING AND I LOVE HER.
BLURRY WIFE WHO? I ONLY KNOW SAILEEN ENDGAME!
She teaches Claire and Jack swears in sign-language. Castiel is not impressed.
John
J*hn W*nchester stans, DNI.
He's dead.
We only see him in flashbacks and only sometimes hear his voice in voice overs.
He's not "down the road" from Dean in Heaven, in fact he instead gets to wander around in some Purgatory like Hell for the rest of his time :)
People who get to say "fuck" on the show:
Cas (but only Once)
Jody
Bobby
Now onto other things
I want more of
Ghostfacers
(they need more screentime because I love them)
Dean/Benny
We know they had a thing.
They definitely had a thing.
Demon Dean
Again, I feel like more should've been done with this. All that build up for what, 2 episodes? was not utilized well at all.
Dean's Bisexuality
Straight Dean truthers DNI, my Supernatural is a show about love and being true to yourself
You think Supernatural is a show about 2 straight brothers fighting monsters?
Naw bitch, this is a show about the Gay Experience
He will get to have relations with men on this show.
Of course, only after John dies does he, y'know, display it. Maybe he kisses Cas on his dad's grave just to fuck John over, make him roll in grave.
We all agree John would be/is a homophobe piece of shit, right?
Okay, glad we're on the same page.
Dads
3 men and a baby with Jack is what I'm saying.
I love it when the Trio are father-figures to younger troubled characters they see themselves in, even better if it's like reluctant-but-loving father figure, oh, that trope gets me every time :'^)
Dadstiel and DadDean are my favorites, but I like it when Sam plays "Uncle Sam" to kids too lol.
"Fellas, is it gay to want a tight knit family with your husband, his son, his vessel's daughter, your brother, his wife, your cop mother figure and her wife and their adopted daughters? Asking for a friend."
Garth
Biggest flaw of Supernatural was underutilizing Garth.
I will never not be bitter that Garth was only in like, 7 episodes out of the whole 15 season series.
Every episode with Garth gets immediately 5 times better.
I love Garth.
Follow ups on characters who had entire episodes featured around them and then just... vanished???
This is mostly about Jesse, the magic kid whose imagination ruled an entire town like, his daddy was a demon and nothing came of that kid??? Only one episode about him?? No follow up???
KID CAN MANIPULATE REALITY AND WE'RE NOT GONNA GET A FOLLOW UP ON THAT?????
Uh, there was that one episode with Ennis the guy whose girlfriend was killed by a monster? I think?? Who we never see again, that was weird.
Tamara from season 3, episode 1.
And of course-
Cassie
She was so cool, and then we never saw her again :////
She gets to be a badass.
Religious imagery
As a former Catholic school student who has become for the most part, disillusioned with religion, religious imagery in TV shows like Supernatural make my brain go "brrrrrr."
Fun episodes!!!
Like, after season 6 or so, there's a drop in funny episodes
I'm talking Changing Channels, The French Mistake type stuff. (Scoobynatural is an outlier and should not be counted.)
So anyway
In my version we would have more fun episodes
I'm thinking
GENDER-SWAP EPISODE, BABY!!
(why they didn't do that in the original, we'll never know.)
An episode where Dean gets to wear eyeliner
That's it, end of post.
I want less
Racism
Yeah I feel like this is self explanatory, nearly every reoccurring character in SPN is white, and black side characters normally die in the episode they first appear in, or they'll be featured as a villain (Uriel, Raphael, Billie, etc)
Also there's a lot of... uh... asian fetishism featured in the show (what with "Busty Asian Beauties) that's really gross, also Kevin was a bit of a stereotype...
Also also it's super yucky how they kill the gods from other religions like???? Uh??? That's super disrespectful, let's not do that????
I know Supernatural is like, inherently racist because monsters are a separate race that are seen as some dangerous "other" that must be eradicated by hunters in a form of genocide-
Okay we won't get into that but
Still
Stop killing all your POC
Fridgings/Unecessary murders of female characters
I know Supernatural starts with a fridging, so this will be a hard thing to remedy, but
One death that really pissed me off was the death of Charlie
Yeah, that was pointless and we're not doing that. Charlie gets to live and be an awesome aunt to Jack.
And also Claire
Charlie Bradbury Superiority
Charlie and Garth get to meet because they're nerd/geek solidarity.
British Men of Letters
I fucking hate these guys
They're "litcherally" the worst.
The worst part is that the actors they have playing the British AREN'T. EVEN. BRITISH.
And you can tell
Uh, and that's all for now, I'll add more later.
tag list for people who liked my "if this post gets one like I'll post my SPN reboot masterpost" post.

Robbing the Cradle
Tumblr media
Dean Winchester x Plus size!reader
Word Count: 1932 words
Warnings: none
Summary: Dean falls in love with a younger reader, and really struggles with it.
——————————————————————————————————
Dean had put up a huge fight when it came to you, at least at first.
He didn’t want to be in love with you, and he didn’t want to admit how happy you made him. He didn’t want to but clearly that didn’t change the fact that he had fallen so deeply in love with you that he couldn’t dig himself out.
You were nothing more than a child, at least as far as he was concerned. You were only twenty-two years old, practically still in pampers and he felt weird about it.
After all, why didn’t you want to be with a man your own age? Didn’t you want to have a normal relationship? Why would you want to be with someone like him when someone better was right around the corner.
Dean wasn’t the most thoughtful, or well adjusted man in the world, and that wasn’t a secret.
He knew that there was someone who could be better for you.
Still, you showed no interest in anyone other than him. It shocked the man to his core, that you never once talked about what you were missing out on, or wanting to do anything other than what you were doing.
He just didn’t get it.
From Dean’s point of view, you should have been desperate to get out and experience life but who better to show it to you than Dean? That was the only thing that you ever said when he brought it up.
You just didn’t understand how he could ever worry about something like that. After all, how many guys your age were going state-to-state, hunting monsters and saving lives?
Dean Winchester was one in a million...whether he chose to believe it or not.
Take today for example, you had tagged along with Sam and Dean to track down a poltergeist that was committing a series of gory murders in a small town.
It had been a ridiculously stressful hunt, and it could have been dangerous but you had never felt more alive. You were obsessed with the thrill of the hunt. In fact, there was only one thing you liked more.
...And that was drinking.
You had learned early on that going to the bar with the guys after a hard case was the best way to unwind. There was honestly nothing like it and you had never passed up a chance to go after everything was over.
Which was good, considering the fact that Dean also really liked to hit the bar when he was stressed.
...But he wasn’t the only one.
There were a ton of guys with really hard lives and things they’re running from. Everyone had things they were trying to forget and liquor just aided in that journey.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the only thing liquor did.
It also made some men lose their tact, which with a beautiful woman around, was never good. It was a bad combo and Dean was really figuring that out tonight.
“What’s wrong Dean?” you wondered, in a sing-song tone, even going so far as to throw your arm over his shoulder casually.
The action was a little goofy with the slight drinking you’d been doing but you were in no way drunk.
You had just been trying to get him to play pool for an hour now and tonight he was practically a bump on a log.
...It was no fun at all.
Especially not considering how much fun Dean was when he was in a good mood. You just missed it tonight, and you had no idea what was on his mind.
“Nothing’s wrong, just got a lot on my mind” he tried, but you knew better.
He may have been older than you but sometimes his pouting made you doubt it. You and Dean had been together for too long for that to work.
The two of you had nearly died today and all he could think about was the hunt. It was kind of unbelievable.
However, you were missing the biggest part of this whole thing. You had no idea but you and Dean weren’t alone in your casual affection. At some point, you had caught the attention of a group of strangers.
...But you hadn’t noticed yet.
You thought that there was something wrong with you, or that he was bored of your company.
“Please Dean? Can’t we just play? I wanna have a good time and forget about the monsters” you begged, your voice nothing more than a purr in his ear. You were desperate for a little fun, especially after such a long and stressful day.
Though, you still didn’t know that across the bar stood that group of younger guys, not much older than you are.
They’d had their eyes on you since you two walked in, and it was really starting to bother Dean.
He couldn’t stand it.
Dean had been around the block before, and he had been that sort of guy. He knew that they were talking about him, and that they were weighing their options about what their chances were with you.
They thought that he had robbed the cradle, and they were planning on taking you away from him...and why wouldn’t you go?  They were young, and built and they could offer you the world.
How was he supposed to compete with that?
“I’m not really in the mood tonight, why don’t you play without me?” he suggested, waving over to the table begrudgingly. He felt bad about it but he just couldn’t fake it tonight.
These were the sorts of things that really got to him about the age gap that you two had. Other people constantly had their eyes on you, as if you didn’t know what you were missing out on.
Though, you both knew that wasn’t the case.
As far as you were concerned, you weren’t missing out on anything, and Dean didn’t ever get that far. He was fully in love with you, and as long as you wanted to be with him, he would take it.
...But not tonight.
Tonight, he just needed to sit by himself and stew over everything that was bothering him.
It was the way the Winchester men dealt with things, and there was nothing he could do to change that.
You nodded, taking the hint and heading over to the table. Luckily, you were able to reach out to a few people at the pool table and join their game. They were nice, but you found it really hard to take the distraction.
You were just worried about Dean.
So worried, in fact, that you completely missed the one brave guy out of the pack who approached you. He had just chugged an entire beer can, and he was feeling on top of the world.
Clearly, that had led him to believe that you wanted anything to do with him. Even if you were putting out every single signal telling him that wasn’t the case.
As far as you were concerned, it didn’t matter if this guy was David Beckham or the queen of England.
The last thing you wanted right now was for some average Joe to bother you.
Not that your very clear body language kept him from coming.
Before you could say or do anything about it, his arm was slung around your shoulder, a clumsy stumble following. He wasn’t smooth by any means, but weren’t too worried about it.
You were a literal monster hunter. You could handle a handsy frat boy that was too far out of his depth.
Both you and Dean had handled worse.
“Can I help you?” you wondered, a heavy sigh leaving your lips as you shrugged him off, not even bothering to drop your pool cue. You didn’t imagine this would take too much time at all.
The Bozo to your right only laughed, smiling at you with a lopsided grin. “I was thinking more along the lines of how I could help you” he suggested, the words leaving his throat in a sick tone.
It made you want to be ill.
This guy was a creep and you knew for a fact that he had nothing to offer you. Though, before you could inform him of that simple fact, an all too familiar hand fell down on his shoulder.
...Because as it would turn out, Dean couldn’t just sit by and watch.
He knew that you could handle it, but he couldn’t help himself. As much as he tried to stay out of it, it made his blood boil to watch someone paw at you like that.
It wasn’t in his nature.
“Is there a problem man?” the younger guy wondered, looking at Dean as if he’d committed some sort of serious offense. If only he knew what he was getting himself into.
You could tell that Dean was doing his best to keep calm, which was good. However, you couldn’t be sure how long that patience would last.
If you knew anything, it wouldn’t be long at all.
Dean Winchester was a lot of things, but patient wasn’t one of them.
“No, there’s no problem at all...except for the fact that you’ve got your hands on my girl” he started, his jaw tensed slightly as he addressed the frat boy by your side.
He seemed just as upset as you could have expected, though he was doing a pretty good job of keeping it hidden.
“Wait, hold up, this is your girl? Is that what you’re telling me?” the stranger laughed, looking between the two of you with a grin on his face.
...Obviously that was the funniest thing he’d ever heard, but you didn’t get it.
There was nothing funny about it and as soon as he said it, you found yourself getting angry. Not only was this guy a creep, but he was also gonna question a man like Dean?
He must have been an idiot.
However, before you could step up and make that point, Dean stopped you with a calm glance.
You hadn’t been prepared for that reaction, but Dean had. From the moment that you two started doing this whole thing, he had been waiting for these kinds of reactions.
A guy like him had no business being with a woman like you, and he knew that.
“Look man, I get it...but yes, this is my girlfriend and I’d appreciate it if you backed off” he suggested, knowing it wouldn’t go down that easily. Though, he wanted to give this kid a chance.
After all, he was just a young guy trying to have a good time and Dean understood that, not that he was going to let this whole thing slide if he kept it up.
...And of course he kept it up.
“Oh yeah? You’d appreciate it?” he scoffed, glancing down at you. “Can you believe this guy, honey?” he just kept going, laughing.
You could have killed him.
There was only one thing that you knew in this moment, and that was that this wasn’t going to end well.
*Bonus*
“Are you alright baby?” Dean checked, smiling at you in a tired sort of way. It had been a long day, but you nodded, anyway.
“I’m fine, are you okay though?” you hummed, returning the favor. He seemed alright, but the bruise blooming on his cheek proved potentially different.
That jerk had got one lick in before Dean knocked him out.
Little did you know, but in that moment, Dean had actually never been better.

Just thinkin' about Sam and "normal," how he desires it but feels barred from ever having it, how he is consumed by his fear of being a "freak," how that fear leads to compassion for monsters he sees as going through the same struggle, even though often their struggles are not the same, because Sam is, in fact, not a monster, and how he actually does have the capacity for "normal" and ends up having "normal" for half of his life, how his abnormalities were always things done to him--given powers by being force-fed demon blood, being coerced into addiction to said blood, being separated from his soul, being possessed--and how his Hell experience also consisted of horrors done to him, but how he does not allow himself to be defined by the actions of others and what's been forced on him.
And about Dean, who submerged any desire for "normal" so deep he convinces himself it was never there, and how he embraces his "freak" status from a young age, willfully sets himself apart, tells himself himself he's being a hero even though deep down he knows he's a freak, isn't capable of normal, how the shifter in Skin says exactly this and how those words come from Dean's mind but out a monster's mouth, how Dean is merged with the things he hunts and how his determination to kill monsters and his self-loathing feed into each other, how his greatest supernatural abnormality, when it comes, comes from within himself--he is not possessed by a demon, but becomes one, and though this originates with the external influence of the Mark, it corrupts his very soul, changes his innermost self--and how the worst of his Hell experience was not what was done to him but what he did and how he felt doing it, and how he could never achieve "normal," could never live that life, but how his growth consists of finding peace with his decidedly abnormal nature rather than hating himself for it.

You got any trans man dean headcanons? 👀
I don’t know when u sent this so sorry if I’m answering late!!!
Also I just have the basic bitch set of trans dean headcanons tbh but they make me go feral so I will repeat them!!
- lazurus rising when cas brought dean back he put him in the body he’s always deserved (the mirror scene lives in my head rent free baby!)
- teenage dean stealing testosterone from hospitals and pharmacies when he had the chance bc they moved around too much for him to have a stable prescription pickup plan
- John being pissed for awhile that dean’s not his “perfect little girl” like he thought but getting over it bc dean is so determined to emulate him to prove his masculinity that it just makes him a better more fierce hunter and protector so John gets over it in like a year (Dean’s always been Like That anyway,,, in the grand scheme of things it’s less Distracting to have this small ongoing conflict that John just calls him Dean and does the passive aggressive “you wanna be a man? Act like it.” bullshit you know how it goes)
- Dean knowing he’s not a girl from a young age (like probably about 6) and teaches Sam to call him Dean and that he’s his brother from the time sammy can talk (Sam doesn’t learn Dean’s name is legally Deanna until he’s starting middle school)
- Dean binding in his teens by wearing those tank tops that are like skin tight but also stretchy material? With the built in bra part? he wears two of those under all the Normal Winchester layers and it gives him the flat chest (what isn’t flattened completely gets lost under his dad’s leather jacket he wears to school every day)
- it goes without saying but Dean, age 7, cut his hair for the first time in a shitty hotel bathroom mirror by trying to copy a dude in a shaving ad in a magazine (John didn’t even notice for three days)
- Dean gets top surgery after sam goes to Stanford when he’s supposed to be on a solo hunt (he tells John he’s hunting something but really he’s recovering at Bobby’s)
- Bobby, we are not surprised, is a good father figure and shut that shit down when dean explains that he’s just gonna hole up in a motel once he gets his surgery (“Boy, do you know how fucking dirty motel linens are? I am NOT letting you die from an infection and most certainly not leaving you Alone for months defenseless”)
- Dean using makeup to make his jawline a little sharper and more square even tho the iffy food situation growing up made sure he barely has any roundness to his face to begin with
- on the flip side dean playing up his fem features to use as a distraction when he hustles pool
- dean training his voice by trying to copy the sound of his favorite singers voices (and John since he hears his voice most consistently)
- dean knocking the shit out of transphobes (the comments don’t even have to be directed at him, he hears them and it’s ON SIGHT no question)
- dean acting like a womanizer bc that’s what Men Do and it’s all just literally part of his carefully constructed hyper masculine image bc it’s so so difficult to pick up anyone when what’s under theclothes don’t match what can be seen on the surface (Cassie is the first person he sleeps with and he’s so terrified but she doesn’t care holy shit she doesn’t care?)
- Dean chooses to keep his name close to his birth name bc that’s the name his mother gave him and he doesn’t want to disrespect her by completely changing it
- On the topic of dean’s hyper masculine image he constructs it from a mix of John and from the action movies he studies religiously when he has the chance (this is what boys like this is what every man dreams of being I have to like this too-) even tho he has enough action and violence in his actual life thanks,
- Dean not being big on faith because he can’t imagine some higher power choosing to make him be born in the wrong body and make him work so hard to fix it himself like life wasn’t hard Enough
- Dean being so immensely pleased when word gets around the monster worlds about the Winchester Brothers,,, the validity of your reputation being cemented in the way you’ve carefully crafted it to be
- Dean rationalizing that it’s okay for him to spend time and energy on making sure he’s presenting masc and getting the body language and mannerisms down because it helps him be better at his jobs as protector of his family and as a hunter (men are thought of as stronger/scarier, men are taken more seriously when interviewing locals/victim’s families, more authority is afforded to men)
- dean almost shooting a man in a bar bathroom when he’s fourteen and just needed to deal with shark week stuff real quickly but this drunk decided a “teenage girlie only has one use in a men’s bathroom” but dean just knocks him out and sprints back to the motel (dean doesn’t use public bathrooms after that if he can help it)
- dean not knowing the word transgender until he finds it in a library book while he’s supposed to be researching but really he’d heard the slur and needed to be clear on why it made him feel so icky so he was looking it up in the dictionary and he’s like Oh that’s Me
- Bobby doesn’t actually meet Sam and Dean until after Dean’s cut his hair for the first time and Sammy can only say half words (most Dee, which is good enough for Dean) so one of Dean’s first impressions of Bobby is him asking John “didn’t you have a daughter?” and John just giving a tired sigh because he’s too busy with the hunt he’s here for to try and get into it but Dean butts in with “No, he’s always had two boys, I’m Dean and this is Sammy” and Bobby doesn’t comment on this little high pitched voice or question it much because he’s babysitting this kid for the next two weeks and he doesn’t want it to be a hostile two weeks (and it never becomes a problem because by the end of week one Bobby never even entertains the idea that Dean isn’t a little boy)
- After Dean gets back from Hell literally the only thing that trips Sam and Bobby up (aside from that he just resurrected lmao) is that his shoulders are more squared and he’s just built more like he should be (see previous point about cas rebuilding him as he should’ve been!)
- Dean never having much money but he still donates to queer charities when he can (makes a point of it in June especially)
- Dean hangs a trans flag in his room at the bunker (and one in the dean cave too)
- The insane validation Dean feels at being called The Rifhteous Man (also the fact that Heaven Knew he was a man all along but didn’t lift a finger to make that any easier to show the rest of the world adds to dean’s general hatred towards them tho)
That’s all I can think of right now but just!! Trans Dean!!!!
Thank u for asking friend!!!
(@bowie-boy I am tagging u bc idk if u will see this post so hope that’s okay!!!)

Lost and Found
Chapter 1
A/N : Hey guys, just trying my hand out at this fanfic thing. I love reading everyone’s stuff and decided to write something myself. I’m fairly new to Tumblr so any tips or suggestions are highly appreciated. Let me know if y’all like it and would like me to continue. Feedback would be amazing. Thank you and happy reading.
Summary : Sam and Dean meet a young hunter who is a little rough around the edges and they reluctantly take her under their wing. But she might be a little more connected to them that any of them realise.
Word count : 1.5k
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Is now a good time to say I told you so? Because I most certainly told you so.” Y/N deadpanned at the dim-witted hunter tied up across the room. She tested the rope tied around her wrists. It was no use. Their captors certainly knew how to tie a knot.
“Shut up kid. You weren’t even supposed to be here. I specifically remember asking you to stay in the damn car!,” was the reply of said dim-witted hunter. Figures, she thought, Dean Winchester would sooner give up pie than admit that his plan was stupid. Nope, scratch that. Dude had an unhealthy obsession with his pie.
“And I specifically remember asking you not to call me kid. Looks like we’re both bad at adhering to simple requests,” she quipped back immediately.
“Well kid, the difference between those scenarios is that mine wasn’t a request. It was an order. You wanna hunt so bad? First learn to follow the chain of command.” Dean clearly wasn’t in the mood for quips if his clenched jaw was anything to go by. Y/N was almost glad that he was tied up because she was certain he would have throttled her if he wasn’t.
“I met you three days ago Winchester. This was my hunt. I go by my rules.” She desperately tried to save face even though she knew she was wrong. If she hadn’t followed Dean from the car, he probably wouldn’t have been so distracted and they wouldn’t have got caught. To be fair, she had told the stupid ass hunters that they were dealing with a pack of shifters, and not vampires like they believed. ‘Shifters don’t hunt in packs Y/N’ ‘The bodies were ripped apart, they were clearly dealing with newly turned vamps’. Y/N scoffed thinking about their condescending looks and shared exasperated glances. Joke’s on them. She was right. It was a bloody family of shifters who behaved like your average human serial killers. New, but not the most outlandish idea. And because stupid Dean with his stupid machete (he lost that 2 minutes in by the way! – which was probably her fault ‘cause she distracted him) had charged in without any silver, they got captured and were probably going to die at the hands of the deranged serial killer shifters.
“Okay first of all, you’re barely out of high school. You shouldn’t be hunting in the first place. Yes, you were right about the shifters and we should have considered that option. That’s on us, but you disobeyed a direct order and put not only yourself but me and Sammy in danger. A little reality check kid, this isn’t a game. You make a wrong choice and people can die. You wanna be reckless and put yourself in danger, be my guest. But when you’re with experienced hunters who know what the hell they’re doing, try listening instead of being a pain in the ass – maybe you’ll end up learning something. You didn’t disobey me because you thought I was in danger, you did it out of spite. There’s no excuse for that. So shut up and let me think.”
She looked away guiltily. He was right and she had ended up proving that they were right about her. They thought she was just a kid in way over her head and she had just cemented that image into their heads. They would never respect her now. He was also wrong but she knew better than to say that when he was already so angry about her little lapse in judgement. Yes, she was young. She doubted they knew her actual age or they would never have let her come with them in the first place. So, maybe she was young but she knew hunting wasn’t a game. Her mother had been a hunter. From what she knew her father had been a hunter. It was in her damn blood. She had trained since she was barely able to hold a gun. Her first hunt was a werewolf that had ended up ripping her mother apart in front of her when she was only 11. She knew it wasn’t a damn game. She knew telling Dean Winchester all this was futile though. She had already lost her chance to be taken seriously.
“I’m sorry,” was what she said instead. “You’re right and I apologise for making you lose focus in the middle of a hunt. It won’t happen again.”
Dean looked mildly surprised and entirely too skeptical for her taste. She rolled her eyes. O ye of little faith.
“I can admit when I’m wrong, you know. I mean I was right too but you made a good point and I took it under consideration. So, I’m sorry for screwing up the hunt. At least Sam got away so there’s a pretty good chance we’ll have to listen to him gloating about saving our asses for the rest of the night.”
Finally, there was a look of reluctant respect in Dean’s eyes. He knew that hunters usually had big egos and admitting mistakes was not their strong suit. Some of the animosity faded from the room and Y/N breathed a subtle sigh of relief. That was all she wanted. To be accepted and respected by the great Winchester brothers. Every hunter worth their salt knew about the Winchesters. Not all of them had great things to say about them, but Y/N tended to look past the hunter gossip. She never really believed that they were as bad as the hunting world made them out to be. Sure, hunters reluctantly respected them and even feared them, but they weren’t exactly liked in the community. After spending the past three days with them, she was more convinced than ever that hunters were idiots and these guys were legends for a reason. She thought they were heroes, although she would never tell Dean that lest she be subjected to his annoying self-satisfied smirk.
“Sammy doesn’t gloat. He preens,” was all he said. She burst out laughing at that and even Dean let out a small grin at the sound. There was a loud bang and then suddenly Sam was bitch-facing over them.
“Glad to see you two enjoying yourself while I’ve been taking care of our monsters. They were going at it when I finally found them, it was an awkward moment. I was almost reluctant to kill them in that state.”
The Bitchface was still in place and it took all of Y/N’s self-control to not laugh at the thought of him killing the shifters mid sex. Dean didn’t share her empathy and promptly proceeded to laugh at his brother’s despair. Sam made quick work of getting both of them out of restraints. He looked at Y/N and she could see that he was gearing up towards a lecture. She internally winced. She could handle Dean’s anger but she dreaded Sam’s disapproval. Disappointing Sam was like kicking a puppy. He gave a whole new meaning to the whole ‘I’m not mad, I’m disappointed thing’ charade.
Apparently, Dean knew his brother well and knew how to read him. He stepped in before Sam could start in on her. “I already yelled at her about it. Even took a page from your book and told her what she did wrong. She apologised, its all good. So, you can stow away the angry puppy eyes.”
Sam considered for a moment before letting it go. He gave her a small smile and shared one of the non-verbal conversations with his brother confirming they were both good. Dean’s eyes also gave Sam a onceover, taking particular note of the gash on his arm and possible bruised ribs evident from the way he seemed to favour his left side. He took a second to assess any lasting damage, finding none he finally looked away from Sam to focus on Y/N who was now rubbing her wrists to sooth the rope burns.
“You get the other two as well? I’m assuming it was mommy and daddy screwing that you killed,” he asked Sam, making him wince at the disturbing memory.
“Yeah I got ‘em. They were guarding the warehouse waiting for the horn dogs to return. What did you think the bang was?”
“You kicking down a door like a badass?”
Sam rolled his eyes and started walking towards the door.
“Buzzkill,” Dean mumbled under his breath, “Let’s get you fixed up and then we’ll go out to celebrate the fact that despite Y/N’s inability to make good choices, we still survived a pack of shifters.”
“Hardy har, har,” She said dryly.
“We survived? Dude, you were too busy being the damsel in distress for a change, I did all the heavy lifting,” Sam scoffed.
“I called it! Gloating it is. You owe me a beer Winchester,” Y/N chuckled.
“Okay, one, don’t even think about it, you’re too damn young to drink, and B, we never made a bet sweetheart. Now shut up and let’s get out of here.”
