Summary/request: a witch cast a spell on Y/N and Sam Winchester and put them in alternate universe where Y/N confronts her male counterpart in the form of Dean Winchester.
thank you for this @yourlocalloser-core! hope you'll like it :D
***
The last thing she could remember was some dust being thrown into her face and loosing consciousness. It felt like the freaking Sandman came for her himself, but she was a grown up adult not believing in a silly childish tale. Angels, demons, wendigos, shapeshifters? Sure, absolutely.
But Sandman? Pff! No way in hell.
It took her a few minutes to get back to reality and not without effort, with pounding in her head she sat up on the bed.
“SAM!?” she cried out not seeing her younger brother anywhere and feeling fear creeping in. “Sammy!!”
“Y/N?!” Sam busted in through the door of the motel, ready to pounce at whatever supernatural being his sister might be facing. “What happened?”
“No idea…. “ she muttered grabbing her plaid shirt, feeling sudden chill. “But something’s not right…… What’s the last thing you remember?”
“I think we were dealing with a witch?”
“Oh, right, a witch. That would explain the dizziness from the spell. Must have been a young one, the older are usually more capable with casting them. You good Sam?”
“I’m fine. Wondering where we are though.”
“I hope it’s not like the Thursday again situation. Don’t think I can handle it once more.”
She was obviously joking but the reality was about to turn out much much worse than that.
When the door to their motel room opened, both Sam and Y/N grabbed their guns instinctively, learned by years and years of experience in the hunting business. No one could blame them after confrontation with a witch and waking up with the weird feeling in their guts.
“WHOA! Wow! Hold the fire!” the man who walked in (or rather tried to walk in) seemed surprised by two gats aimed at him. He raised his hands in surrender, but even though he looked harmless, both of the sibling knew better then to fall for the masks. “
“who the hell are you?” Y/N asked with her most stern and terrifying voice.
“Well hello to you….” The man smirked looking her up and down “Sammy, you could have told me you got a girl over. I would have knocked.”
Y/N raised an eyebrow, not bother at all by the man’s wondering eyes. If anything she only smirked, waiting for the situation to develop.
“knocked huh?” she teased “wonder on what?”
“What’s your name, pretty one?” the man took a few steps closer, clearly trying to flirt with her
“wouldn’t you like to know, handsome?” she easily mimicked his tone
“I’m Dean.”
“And I didn’t ask.”
“Well such a shame, since now you’re gonna remember it.”
“Oh, am I?” she smiled innocently , fluttering her eyelashes. Once she was sure she got Dean’s full attention she reached towards her belt, grabbed the tiny bottle of holy water and poured it all over him.
“What the hell?!” he yelled in frustration. This was not what he was expecting, even though he probably should have been more careful.
“What the hell you?!”
“Why did you splay me with holy water?!”
“Cause I don’t have any salt on me!” she screamed back at him.
“Salt?! What…..?! I’m not a demon!!”
“Then what are you!?”
“I’m human!!”
“And I don’t believe you!”
“Sam!” Dean yelled looking at him brother “tell this crazy girl who I am. Cause damn, you are as crazy as you are hot lady.”
“Sam!” Y/N yelled at her brother in the same way “do you know this crazy lunatic?”
“Whoa! Who do you call lunatic!”
The scene that was unravelling in front of Sam’s eyes was truly western-like. Y/N and Dean were standing in front of each other, eyeing the other with crinkled eyes, with a power position stand and clearly neither of them were going to surrender easily, let alone trust that the other was in fact, human and not supernatural being. The only thing that was missing was some fight-like background music.
“Well… I….um….” Sam stuttered, twisting his face, knowing better than to interfere. Just a glance at the pair made him realise that they were awfully similar in both behaviour and even in the dressing. And he already had a working theory of what was going on. “I think…..” he tried to say, but no one was paying attention to him anymore.
“I’m gonna ask you once more” she hissed “who the hell are you?!”
“So your boyfriend didn’t introduce you to the family?” Dean smirked
“What the fuck now?! What boyfriend!? ”
“Oh, Sammy, you didn’t tell her I’m your brother? I’m deeply hurt.”
“Brother!?” Sam and Y/N frowned at the words and Dean did not like it.  Only now he realised that something was going on.
“What the hell? Sammy? Don’t you remember me?”
“I don’t know you, man.”
“You don’t…. know me?” Dean stuttered a bit, brokenness creeping on his face. If his own little brother did not remember him than… than…. “shit!” he gasped, tangling fingers in his hair and ruffling them in desperation.
“Wait….” Y/N looked at him, recognising the gesture. Dean ruffled his hair in a very distinctive way, with his thumb sticking out. And so it happened that she knew it so well because she used to do it in the very same way. “I think….. Oh, shit…. Sam?”
“Yeah.”
“Is it … possible that….we’re in the alternate universe….?” The girl frowned. ”you know… that witch.”
“alternate what….?” Dean spun around looking at her with suspiciousness in her eyes, not realising a single thing of the silly metaphysics topic they were now talking about.
“Well…..”
“Dean.”
Before Y/N had a chance to open her mouth and formulate an answer, the sudden deep voice coming from behind the back made her jump.
Yeah, she should have been used to it at this point, but Castiel, the angel of the lord, was extremely resistant when it came to basic knowledge about human-like behaviour. And if she wasn’t in the very complicated relationship with him, she would lash out. (she could still remember meeting him for the first time and explaining the ‘personal space’ concept to him. The memory was way funnier than the real life event, since again Castiel was very obstructive).
Her first instinct upon seeing him, was to run to him, hide in his arms and act like everything was normal, like he was, quite literally, her guardian angel, and everything was going to be fine. It’s been a while since she saw him and the longing took the toll. She might have been a hunter and a Winchester, but on the other hand she was also a girl, and the family business was not easy on her. Being the oldest one, taking care of her brother, saving people, hunting things. She never ever complained, carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders, but it was ….. hard.  And when Castiel showed up in her life, due to some crazy occurrences in her crazy as shit life she was...
Well it was hard to describe how she felt since it was pretty much a mix of everything, starting from shock at the existence of angels, ending on being flustered whenever he was around. And yes, she fell hard. And fast. Like never before. Castiel and Sam were the only constants she had in her life, so no one could blame her internal struggling.
“Hello Cass….” She whispered expecting frowned eyes, tilted head and confused look.
“Hello Y/N”
Now that was surprising. He knew who she was?
“You don’t belong here.”
“No… No I guess I don’t. Neither me nor Sam. Can you send us back though? I kinda miss the you in my verse…..”
“I can’t.”
“Oh…..” she looked down.
“But I know someone who can.”
“Oh?” she looked up now, cursing herself internally. She was supposed to be the strong older sibling and right now she was acting like a silly teenager waiting for someone to tell her what to do.
“Let’s go.” Cass commanded, obviously keeping the details of the plan to himself. He walked out the door followed suit by Sam, who didn’t even look at his sister, making her feel heavily betrayed. She stayed back still trying to wrap her head around it all and apparently so was Dean.
“Are you in love with him or something?” the man smirked looking at his female counterpart mockingly
“Shut up!” she hissed
“I don’t understand how’s that possible. I could never do something like that. Maybe we’re not so similar after all.”
(poor Dean…. He was in for a huge future surprise).
***
Apparently the person Castiel was referring to as the one who could help was no one else but Bobby. So the plan was to get back to his place, cast some backwards spell and send Y/N and Sam back to their reality.
Easy as it was.
Right?
RIGHT?!
Yeah, well, not really.
“You’re not driving mycar!”
“Yourcar?! Back off my baby!” Dean practically jumped in front of Y/N, preventing her from getting her hands on the steering wheel.
“Move.” She hissed. The car topic was not something to be joked about.
“No.”
“Then I’ll move you.”
“I’m sure you will.”
“I’m not joking.”
“And I’m really scared of you.” He rolled his eyes.
“From what I heard you were scared of a cat once?” she smirked
“You little….!”
This would probably go on and on and on if it wasn’t for Sam who stepped in, acting like the only adult in the room, putting them on the backseat, separated by Cas and took the driver’s place himself.
No one was happy about it.
Cas had a wet cat face expression, probably wishing he could just poof away, but due to some inexplicable empathetic instinct unable to leave Sam alone with those two.
Dean and Y/N were looking like kindergarteners put in the corner as some sort of punishment with their arms crossed and giving each other evils.
Sam was forced to listen on tones of good advice and constructive criticism coming from the owner(s) of impala, cause apparently he didn’t know shit about driving.  But honestly being a younger sibling comes with developing the ability to not give a shit about older one opinion and approach so as long as they left him out of it and kept fighting each other he was quite content in his position, smirking under the nose and observing the situation.
At some point it got quite funny since they were, arguing about everything starting from the pie flavour, ending on proper technique on fighting supernatural beings. The road to Bobby’s was long enough that they pretty much shared their whole life stories, picking up on the bad, ambiguous jokes and innuendos.
“You two are so alike…” Sam chuckled shaking his head in disbelief
“We’re not!” they yelled in unison.
“Oh, you so are.” The younger Winchester repeated this time openly laughing.
“That’s betrayal Sam!” Y/N kicked his seat from behind “he’s nothing more than my copycat!”
“copycat?! You are in  my timeline sweetheart.”
“call me sweetheart again and ….”
“and what will you do…..?”
“enough!” Sam hit the break hard making the impala stop violently, sending all the passengers flying forwards.
“son of  a bitch!” they cried out in unison again, terrified at what their brother was doing to the car. A second later their gazes met.
“Stop using my words!”
“Those are mine!”
“Oh, I’m sorry did you copyright them?”
“Did you?”
“Screw you, Winchester!”
“No, screw you, Winchester!”
“Say it again, I dare you.”
*Poof*
“See what you did?!”
“What did I do?!”
“You made Castiel lose his shit and poof himself!”
“It doesn’t really take much to make him do that, right?”
“And yet, you did it.”
“Did not!”
“Oh God….” Sam sighed deeply, resuming the driving, praying to whatever angel, demon or jinn was listening that he could take example of Cas and disappear from the car.”
***
“Idiots!” Bobby hissed the second the impala parked in front of his house. Obviously they called him from the road briefly explaining what happened, keeping the details to himself, preparing him for what was coming and warning to not use the riffle.
His words were harsh but he was as close to father as the Winchesters could possibly have so no one was offended or hurt because of that.
“Hi Bobby.” Y/N greeted him with the tiny smile.
“You’re a new face.”
“I wonder why does it have to be me? Why couldn’t it be Sam?” the girl scoffed.
“Me what?” her brother frowned
“I mean, it could have been you not existing in this universe. How would that feel? No one knowing you? Recognising you? Treating you only like an alternate version of someone they care about and love? Believe me, it’s…..”
“It sucks.” Dean chimed in.
Y/N frowned and looked at him. It seemed like his words were not just empty talking but more like he’s been through something that left a scar on him. His tone clearly suggested that he knew what he was talking about and so did his face expression.
“Wait….. did it happen to you too?” Y/N asked her eyes growing wide. “Growing apart with Sam? No one recognising you?”
“Do I look like a spider-man to you?” Dean smirked. “Not forgetting, but yeah, becoming distant, yes.  It should never be like it….” The man muttered, keeping on a straight face. But even though Y/N knew.
She knew he was through the same experience as her and for the first time since they met she might have felt something different then annoyance at him. It was such a surprising change of feelings that it made her chuckle.
“Why are you giggling like a silly teenager?”
“I’m not grinning But hey, you know what? You’re not such a bad boy as you pose as.”
“don’t know if that’s an offence or a compliment”
“How about a piece offering?”
“Where’s the pie then?”
“Oh I’m sure we can find one. Can’t we Bobby?”
Bobby didn’t answer, his gaze darting between the two in a bit of a confusion .
“Balls!” he cried out finally.
“Yeah, I know, it’s terrifying….” Sam muttered
“Handling one of you was a challenge at times, but two?! Not for my nerves.”
“How about we sent us back then? What do we need?”
***
Luckily Bobby had all the ingredients necessary for the backwards spell. It only took a few hours to put it all together.
Sam and Y/N were coming back home, and yet, she felt some sort of nostalgia. Meeting Dean was something… supernatural. And yes, he might have been the rowdy, rebel type with leather jacket, no phone and no address, but he was still her. And it was both shocking and enriching. Just like looking at the mirror and seeing someone else being through all the same life event and behaving in the same manner.
And she couldn’t just leave without saying at least a word of goodbye.
And apparently neither could he.
So, acting with the same instincts they met at the porch of Bobby’s house, sharing a can of beer.
“Hey there.” She smiled genuinely
“No holy water this time?”
“Nah… Bobby taught me another exorcism just in case.”
“Yeah, he got a way with those crazy spells.”
“Hopefully the one he’s about to cast will work.”
“You worried?” Dean handed her a can and looked at the girl carefully.
“Since when do you care?”
“You know me….” He chuckled in response “You are me after all.”
“Finally came to peace with that?”
“Maybe. I mean… “ he sighed unable to find the right words to describe it.
“I know.” She interrupted him. “I know. But you gotta admit one thing.”
“And what may that be?” he raised an eyebrow.
“I got a better ass.” Y/N smirked taking a sip of her drink and enjoying the slight blush on her male counterpart’s face. Poor Dean. No matter what he would say at that moment he would offend himself.
“You won that one, Y/N.”
***
“Ready?” Bobby asked
“As ready as can be.” Sam muttered
And so Singer started casting the spell that send them back home. Safely and in one piece. But before they disappeared …..
“see you around, bitch.” Dean grinned
“Take care, jerk.” she grinned back

It's Called Flirting, Dumbass 1-8
[fanfiction] Dean / Cass
Canon Divergent AU from after the Final Battle in 15x19
The title pretty much sums it up.
It’s Called Flirting, Dumbass
Isola Virtuosa
- 1 -
Sam was sitting at the map table, beer in hand, looking at me incredulously.
“What?” I said with a shrug.  “Everyone knows that I’m the better-looking Winchester.”
“I think that’s a matter of opinion,” he stated, rolling his eyes.
“Is it, though?” I asked.  “Seein’ as how everyone has the same opinion?”
“And who is everyone, Dean?”
“Dean is objectively more attractive,” Cass put in without looking up from the book he was reading.
I gestured towards Cass with a smug grin.  “See?” I told Sam.
“No way, nuh-uh, Cass’s opinion doesn’t count,” Sam said with a shake of his ridiculously shaggy head.
“Uhh, why the hell not?”
“Because he’s-” Sam started and stopped, quickly shutting his mouth.
“Because he’s an angel that’s older than dirt with the knowledge of the universe and crap?”
“I hardly possess all the knowledge of the uni-” Cass tried to protest.
“Nope, zip it,” I said, waving my beer at him.  How many had I had already?  I’d lost count at… eight…?  “Angel opinion trumps all.”
“Okay, but he’s your… best friend,” Sam said tactfully.  “Of course he’s gonna side with you.”
“If you were arguing over who was taller, I would obviously state that Sam is taller,” Cass said, setting his book down with a frown.  “If you were arguing over who has more beautiful hair, I would obviously state that Sam has the most beautiful hair.”
I couldn’t stop the laugh that bubbled out of me.
Cass ignored me and continued.  “And if you were arguing over who was the most physically attractive, I would obviously state that it is Dean.”
“Thanks, buddy,” I said, flashing him a grin.
“I’m simply stating the facts,” he said, shifting in his chair.
Sam looked like he wanted to protest, but what could he say to that?
“Facts are facts, little brother,” I clucked at him.
“Cass’s opinion is hardly a fact.”
Cass turned his frowny squint on Sam.  “Dean has better facial symmetry.”
“Okay…?”
“Physical attractiveness can be scientifically measured,” Cass explained.  “Symmetry, distance between the eyes, distance between the eyes and mouth can all be easily calculated and compared.  Dean’s numbers are better than yours.”
“Oof, science, bitch,” I cackled at Sam.
“Whatever,” he huffed in reply.
I turned to Cass, trying to share a victorious grin, but his eyes were on his book again.
It was only later, when I was drunkenly stumbling off to bed, that Sam pulled me aside.  “You can’t be doing that, Dean.”
“What, going to bed?” I asked, trying to make my eyes focus on his disapproving expression.
“Dean,” he groaned, exasperated.
“Hey, man,” I started, ready to get defensive about letting off some steam by just having a few drinks.
“Cass is more sensitive than you think.”
I opened and closed my mouth a few times, confused.  “What’re we talkin’ ‘bout?”
He sighed loudly, turning into a complete priss.  “Dean, you know how Cass feels about you, so why do you insist on taking advantage of him like that?”
“Woah, woah, woah,” I said, flailing my hands around in a way that was supposed to say ‘hold your horses’.  “Who is taking advantage of Cass?” I protested.
Now Sammy’s eyes were rolling so hard into the back of his head that I could only see the whites of his eyes.
“Ya look like Lilith when you do that…” I commented.
Sam huffed and puffed and shoved his fairy tale princess hair out of his eyes.
“Look, no one here is…” I paused, looking up and down the hall before continuing, “taking advantage of anyone.”
“You are so oblivious.”
“I think you are just mad ’cause I’m totally more attractive than you,” I said, jabbing him in the chest with my finger.
“Yeah, sure, whatever,” Sam said, pushing my finger away.  “Maybe we can have this conversation when you’re sober.”
“I’m not drunk,” I protested.  I was pretty sure I couldn’t even get drunk anymore.  Though, okay, maybe my head was feeling a little fuzzy at the moment, but I was just tired was all.
“Yeah, sure,” Sam muttered, because apparently I’d said all that out loud.  “Not like you’re any less obtuse sober.”
“Whaddidju call me?” I asked, squinting at him.
“Good night, Dean.”
“Night, loser,” I grumbled after him as he ambled down the hall.  I was ready to escape Sam’s cryptic bullshit and catch some z’s.
The thing was, there was something gnawing at the back of my mind that I couldn’t quite shake, even despite the overwhelming coziness of my memory foam mattress.  I stared up at the dark ceiling, and for some reason Cass’s voice started echoing in my head.
Dean is objectively more attractive.
I passed out as soon as I closed my eyes, feeling strangely warm.
- 2 -
I could smell the coffee brewing as I stumbled into the kitchen the next morning.
“Good morning, Dean.”
I blinked blearily at Cass, grunted something that was probably a greeting, and sat down at the table.
“The coffee is almost ready,” he explained.
“Where’s Sam?” I groaned, rubbing a hand through my hair.
“Out for his run.”
“Ugh.”
“It wouldn’t hurt you to get in a little exercise,” he pointed out.
I squinted at him for a long while.  “You callin’ me fat?”
Cass just rolled his eyes, walking over to the cupboard and pulling down two mugs.
I rested my arms on the table and buried my face in them, wishing I was back in bed.
The sounds of a coffee cup being placed at my elbow perked me up enough to sit up properly.
Cass sat across from me, already sipping from his own cup.
“You’re an angel,” I informed him, taking the cup in my hands and inhaling deeply.
“And you are a human,” he replied drily.
I ignored the sass and took a big gulp, trying to chase away the previous night’s drinking.  Not that I had a hangover or anything.
“Dean, I hope I wasn’t… inappropriate last night.”
I was starting to feel awake, and my eyes shot up to meet his.  “Huh?”
“I just… you’ve been so gracious in extending your home to me, and I hope that I did not… make you uncomfortable by discussing my… attraction to you,” he said, picking out his words slowly.
“You’re… attracted to me…?” I asked intelligently.
“Dean,” he said in that way of his that conveyed disappointment, exasperation, and a touch of fondness.
“No, I mean…” I trailed off, because we hadn’t really talked about that thing that he said before he got swallowed up by the Empty.
Cass waited, raising his eyebrows at me.
I swallowed and looked down into my coffee.  “I just… I get that you have, ya know, feelings and stuff, but I didn’t think you… I mean you’re kinda junkless and all.”
“I assure you that all my junk is in working order,” he informed me.
I didn’t really know what to do with that information, so I laughed nervously and drank my coffee.  “Yeah?  Then how come you never use it?”
“I’m sorry, have you been monitoring my genitals?” Cass asked.
Coffee came spewing out of my mouth and I hit my chest, coughing a few times to clear the pipes.  “What?” I managed to squeak out.
“I was just wondering why you’re so certain about the amount of use my genitals experience.”
“Cass, man, c’mon, genitals?”
“I apologize, do you prefer ‘penis’?  ‘Dick’?  ‘Wee-wee’?”
I was grinning now, even though my cheeks felt oddly warm.  “Yeah, definitely ‘wee-wee’.”
He gave me an unimpressed look.
I nudged his foot with mine under the table.  “It’s not like you’re goin’ out and gettin’ laid every night.”
There was that raised eyebrow again.
“…are you…?” I tagged on uncertainly.
“I am not,” he affirmed.
“Yeah, see, I didn’t think so,” I said, rolling my eyes.  I knew Cass better than anyone.
“There are other ways to… use one’s junk.”
I froze again before sputtering out a laugh.  “You been spankin’ the monkey?”
“That’s animal abuse, Dean,” he said, but there was a sparkle in his eye.
I shook my head.  “Jesus, now I’ve heard everything.”  I tried not to think too hard about masturbating angels.  “I need more coffee for this.”
Cass rose up, holding out his hand to me.
I blinked, handing him my cup.
He went over to the coffee pot and refilled it.
“You don’t gotta wait on me,” I said, accepting the mug from him.
“I like to,” he said with a shrug.
“Cass...” I trailed off, the coffee slowly re-starting my engine.  “Before, you said... look, you know the bunker is your home, yeah?  I’m not lettin’ you stay here or nothin’, it’s your home as much as it’s mine.”
“I know,” he said.  His eyes met mine, his expression soft.  “I’m just not used to orienting myself to one fixed coordinate in this plane of existence.”
Our gazes were lingering a little too long.  “God, you’re weird,” I muttered so I could look away.  Then I decided to make it even more awkward by asking, “so you really think I’m attractive?”
“Yes, Dean.”
“But like… physically?”
“Yes, Dean.”
“Yeah, but… really?”
“I think you’re beautiful.”
He just said it with a completely straight face, and I found myself biting my lip.  “Guys don’t wanna be told that they’re beautiful, Cass.”
“Well I do not really care what ‘guys’ want to be told,” he said.  “You’re beautiful, and I can say so if I want to.”
“You’re a real charmer,” I mumbled into my mug.
“I am not trying to… charm you,” he said with a frown.  “I’m simply stating the truth.”
I grinned at that, ignoring the strange feeling in my stomach.  “You got a little game after all.”
“Is that so?” Cass asked, looking pleased.  Then worry started to take over his features again.  “I’m not… making you uncomfortable?”
“Nah,” I replied easily.  “Hard to object to the truth.”
“Indeed.”
“You want some breakfast?” I asked, ready to face the morning now that my second cup of coffee was done.
“That would be nice,” he humored me.  He didn’t need to eat.
“Eggs, toast, and bacon coming right up,” I announced, then winced when standing made my head pound.
“I’ll help,” Cass offered, which was nice and all, but he wasn’t very good in the kitchen.
“You’re on toast duty,” I told him, moving to the fridge to get the other ingredients.
“It would be my honor,” he stated gravely.
I snorted and tossed the loaf of bread to him.  Somehow, mundane things like toasting bread were just better with Cass around.
- 3 -
I was rocking out to AC/DC, waxing Baby in the garage, when Cass suddenly appeared behind me.
“Dean,” he declared urgently.
I startled, then laughed, straightening up.  “Jesus, don’t sneak up on a guy like that.”
“Dean, I cannot find the veggie bacon.”
“Um, okay, sounds like a good thing to me.”
He let out an exasperated sigh.  “Dean.”
“What would you even need that crap for?”
“I wanted to make lunch for Sam.”
“Uh, first of all, why?” I asked.  “And second of all, would he even want to eat anything that you make?”
“So rude,” he huffed at me.  “And for your information, Sam and Eileen have been having a… disagreement.”
“Whoa, whoa, what?  The perfect lovey-dovey-never-have-problems-couple-of-the-year are having a disagreement and Sammy didn’t tell me?”
“Well, you tend to be judgmental,” Cass pointed out.  “Not to mention obnoxious.”
“Wow, Cass, tell me how you really feel,” I muttered.  I decided to get back to work, leaning over the hood to reach the center with the wax.
“I just did,” he pointed out.
I snorted, glancing at him over my shoulder.  “So you think a sandwich with some fake-ass bacon’s gonna cheer him… up…?” I faltered as Cass’s eyes slid down my body and then shot back up to meet my eyes.  “Did you just check out my ass?”
Cass swallowed.  “Yes?”
I kind of didn’t know how to react that, so I went to my go-to coping mechanism, giving my ass a little shake.  “Yeah?  You like that?”
“Yes,” he said more confidently, tugging at his collar.
I cracked up, even as my face was probably flaming red, turning back to focus on the small circles I was rubbing over the hood.  “You could try being more subtle, dude.”
“I apologize,” he said quickly.  “It was… involuntary.”
“What, your eyes are magnets and my ass is the North Pole?”
“That’s ridiculous, Dean,” he gruffed at me.  “Perhaps if you were not bent over your car so provocatively…”
“So now you’re blaming the victim?” I asked, shooting him another look.
Cass looked down, shifting uncomfortably.
“I’m just teasin’ you,” I assured him.  “It’s fine, look all you like.”
“Did you just give me permission to… ogle you?”
“If that’s what floats your boat,” I said with a shrug, standing up straighter now as I finished waxing the far part of the hood.  “I mean, apparently I’m so irresistible that you can’t control yourself.”
Cass was quiet.
I went over to get my microfiber cloth and started buffing where I’d waxed.
“Dean, really, I can… I can control myself,” he assured me.
I sighed, pausing in my work.  “It’s fine, Cass.  Don’t worry about it.”
“I worry a lot,” he said softly.
“Hey,” I said, and somehow I was suddenly standing in front of him, resting my hand on his shoulder.  “You and me?  We’re good right now.  Better than we’ve ever been.  We ain’t fightin’ about nothin’, as far as a I know?”
“I am equally unaware of any disputes between us,” he agreed.  He hesitated.  “But I’m making you uncomfortable.”
I thought about it.  “Yeah, kinda.”
He looked crestfallen.
“But it’s not a bad… discomfort…” I rushed forward, trying to get that look off of his face.
“Dean, it is in the very definition of the word-”
“I don’t mind it, okay?” I interrupted him.  “I… I don’t mind it,” I repeated.
He gave me a funny look.
“Look, I ain’t gettin’ any younger, and I think my best days are kinda behind me,” I tried to explain.  “So knowin’ that you’re, ya know, into me or whatever, it’s… kinda… nice…?”
“So I give you an ego boost?” he asked, looking sardonic.
“…yes…?”
“Alright,” he said, relaxing.  “I shall… continue to boost your ego, as long as… you’ll tell me if I cross a line?”
“Yeah, of course, buddy,” I said, patting him on the shoulder again.
He gazed into my eyes, then nodded.  “About the veggie bacon…”
“I fed it to the squirrels.”
“You fed it… to the… squirrels…?”
“Yep.”
“I see.”
“Just use real bacon.  It’ll help Sammy man up.”
“That is not… Dean you are a problematic human being.”
“I try,” I said with a wink.
“You have been most unhelpful,” he said, turning to leave.
“At least you got a free show,” I threw over my shoulder as I crouched down by the car to start waxing again.
“Yes, the displaying of your hindquarters was certainly illuminating,” he agreed, pushing the door open.  “I would assess that they are in excellent condition for riding.”
I sputtered at that, not really sure if I was being insulted or hit on, but feeling oddly pleased.
- 4 -
It had been a couple of weeks since we’d gotten hammered the last time, so I dragged Sammy and Cass out to my favorite dive bar just outside of Lebanon.
I didn’t tend to shit where I ate, so I avoided hustling pool there, but it didn’t mean I couldn’t still get a few friendly games in.
Also, playing pool with Cass was hilarious.
“Dean, I seem to have hit the incorrect ball again.”
I knew that he was playing dumb, but I tried not to think about it too much.  It was like going to Disneyland and obsessing over Mickey Mouse being some 26-year-old theater nerd who still lived with his parents.  Gotta keep your sense of magic somehow.
“Cass, you’re stripes, man,” I said, clucking my tongue as I moved around the table, figuring out my next shot.
“I will try to remember that,” he assured me.
Of course, on his next turn, he completely whiffed it.
“I just cannot seem to be able to handle a stick,” he said, blinking up at me innocently.
“Cass, c’mon,” I said, shaking my head at him.
He blinked some more.
“You need me to… help you handle your stick?” I asked, trying not to laugh.
“That would be very helpful, Dean.”
I continued to shake my head, even as I was coming up beside Cass at the table, leaning in closer and guiding his hand into the correct position on the cue.
“This is very helpful,” Cass assured me.
“Mm-hm.”
“Oh, yes, I think I understand how to handle my stick now.”
“You’re killin’ me, here,” I said, because Cass and double entendres were not two things I thought would ever intersect in my life.  Also, I knew he wanted me to laugh, and I wanted to laugh, so I did.  “C’mon, take this seriously.”
“I’m taking this very seriously,” he told me, leaning his hip into mine.
I opened my mouth to tell him that I’d given him permission to ogle, not to flirt, but then I immediately shut it because if I said that out loud, then he’d stop.  And maybe I didn’t want him to stop.
Cass smiled at me easily, his hip warm against mine.
I didn’t mind.  I liked Cass happy.  If this made Cass happy, then I was going to keep Cass happy.  “You gonna start hitting the ball right?” I asked. resting a hand on his waist while my other hand lingered over his on the cue.
“If you show me how to do it properly,” he agreed.
“Okay, you wanna pull it back like this,” I said, guiding him, “and then you take your shot like this.”
“Ohhh, I see,” Cass said, moving with me to sink the 11 ball easily into the pocket.
“See, easy peasy,” I said, my hand still lingering on his waist.  I drew it away slowly as I moved out of his personal space.
“Indeed,” he agreed, jumping the 13 ball over the 8 ball to send it straight into the side pocket.
I raised an eyebrow at him.
“I had a good teacher,” he informed me, going on to sink the next ball, and the next, before declaring, “8-ball, corner pocket,” and pocketing it easily.
“I think you’ve been hustled, sweetheart,” an older woman sitting at a nearby table hooted at me.
“Don’t I know it,” I said, shooting her a wink.  “Okay, Cass, double or nothing.”
“We weren’t betting anything, so double of nothing is in fact nothing.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, help me rack.”
He looked very pleased with himself as he pulled the balls out of the pockets and helped put them in the rack.  “It’s a game of math.”
“Mm-hm,” I agreed, lining up the rack on the foot spot.
“I’m very good at math.”
“Ya sure are.  This time’s my break, yeah?”
“Yes.”
“Great, and no more slop, okay?  Call shots only,” I said, pulling my cue back to break.
“Are we feeding pigs?” Cass asked, squinting at me.
“You gotta say which pocket you’re aimin’ for,” I explained.  “Slop’s when ya just, ya know, lazily hit the balls wherever.”
“I was hardly-”
“Yeah, yeah,” I said, executing a picture-perfect break.  “I’m solids again.”
Cass’s head tilted to the side.
I winked at him and called my first shot.  And the next and the next, effortlessly making the difficult shots I was calling.  I felt a strange attack of nerves when I called the 8-ball, realizing that I was showing off and that I didn’t want to screw it up at the very end, but nerves have always worked for me, and I still pulled off the shot, sweaty palms and all.
For getting his ass completely handed to him, Cass looked weirdly happy.
“That’s what you call a break and run,” I said, throwing a companionable arm around his shoulder and directing him towards the bar.
“It was very impressive,” he assured me.
“Only way I can beat the giant math nerd.”
“Not bad, honey,” the older woman complimented me as we walked by.
“Can’t hustle a hustler,” I told her with a grin.
Sammy was at the bar, engrossed in conversation with two guys who were actually wearing pocket protectors in a friggin’ bar.
“Next round’s on Sammy,” I declared loudly, slapping my hands down on the bar next to him.
“Dude,” he said, giving me an annoyed look.
“You’re the one who ditched us,” I said with a shrug, “so you gotta buy the drinks.”
“Oh, right, I ditched you,” he muttered, being the sassy bitch we all loved to hate, but then he motioned to the bartender.  “Two more for them.”
“Thank you Sam,” Cass said, always the bastion of politeness.
“No problem,” he replied with a nod before turning back to his dorky pals.
I frowned at his back, then turned to Cass.
“Here ya go, gents,” the bartender said, sliding our beers over to us.
I nodded at her and immediately took a very long drink.  “Oh, yeah, that hits the spot.”
“The froth is an interesting… texture,” Cass decided.
“Yeah, yeah, beer doesn’t do anything for you.”
“I still enjoy the experience of drinking it together with you,” he said with overwhelming sincerity.
“Dork,” I muttered, even as I was smiling into my glass.  “So on a scale of 1 to 10, how hot was me trouncing you at pool?”
“At least an 11,” he said with an amused look.
“Yeah?”
“I mean, it was almost as hot as me trouncing you at pool.”
“Oh, so you were at like a 12?” I asked with a snort.
“You tell me,” he hummed, eyes meeting mine evenly.
I swallowed.  “Uh, yeah, totally a 12, Cass.  Babe of the year,” I squeaked out, my sarcasm not quite having the effect I wanted.  “Hey, you about ready to head home?”
“Whenever you’re ready, Dean,” he assured me.
I swallowed again.
Whenever I was ready.
- 5 -
“Thanks for making me your third wheel last night,” Sam grumbled at me as he came into the kitchen the next morning.
“Who was a third wheel?” I asked incredulously.
“Me,” he declared, pulling down a mug and bringing it over to the coffee pot.  “If you wanna take Cass on a date, just man up and ask instead of dragging me along as cover.”
“Shut up,” I growled at him.  “You were the one on the man date with your little nerd friends.”
“Daryl and Tony are cool guys,” Sam said, leaning against the counter and sipping his coffee.
“You guys gonna play Dungeon and Dragons in Tony’s Mom’s basement next time?”
“Maybe,” he declared as he shook his princess hair out of his eyes.  “You gonna be the Dungeon Master?”
“Dork.”
Sam shrugged off of the counter and headed out of the kitchen.
He was so annoying sometimes.
It was a little while later that Cass came in, giving me that bright smile that had somehow started looking natural on his face lately.
“Good morning, Dean.”
“Mornin’,” I greeted him.  I could feel my own mouth creeping up into a smile.
It was infectious, dammit.
“Did you sleep well?” he inquired, pouring his coffee and coming over to sit next to me.
“Alright, I guess.”
I felt Cass’s knee nudge against mine.
I let it stay there.  “You have fun last night?”
“I did,” he said, looking pleased.
“Me, too,” I said, and there was that stupid smile creeping across my face again.
“It’s always enjoyable to spend time with you,” he admitted.  “However, I feel that we may not have done a very good job of cheering Sam up about his tiff with Eileen.”
“Is that why we went out?”
“I believe that is the excuse you used, yes.”
“Huh.”
“But then we… ‘ditched’ Sam.”
“He ditched us for those two weirdos.”
“Dean, he did not strike up conversation with those two gentlemen until after we left him at the bar to engage in a round of billiards.”
“Whatever,” I groaned.
“It’s not ‘whatever’,” Cass said with a frown.  “Your communication with Sam lately has not been very good.”
“I’m sorry, Dr. Phil, do we need to sit in a circle and talk about our feelings?”
“Sarcasm is not necessary.  I’m just worried.”
“Well don’t be.”
Cass sighed, his leg still pressed snug to mine, and at some point his hand had settled on my knee.
Now that I’d noticed it, I kinda couldn’t un-notice it, but it’d be weird if I brought it up out of the blue, right?
Cass gave me one of his damn head tilts.  “You’re tensing up.”
“It’s nothing,” I told him through gritted teeth.  “Drink your coffee.”
“I will drink it at the pace that I desire,” he said with a frown.
I rolled my eyes at him.
“Your attitude is not appreciated.”
“You gonna do something about it?” I asked with a snort, picking up my coffee mug.
He straight up just pinched me on the thigh.
“Jesus!” I hissed, spilling coffee all over the table.
“I think I’ll have my coffee now,” Cass hummed, looking pleased with himself.  He lifted up his mug and took a long drink.
I gaped at him.
Cass drained his cup and clunked it down on the table with a satisfied grunt.
“What crawled up your ass?!” I growled.
“Clearly nothing,” he said, giving me a pointed look.
I did not understand what was going on, and I’d only just realized that when Cass pinched me, his hand had move from my knee to my thigh, and was somehow just resting there like that was where it belonged.  “You’re a real piece of work today,” I muttered, looking into the dregs of my cup.  What else was there to do when obviously Cass had lost his mind.
Sam cleared his throat, coming back into the kitchen.
How long had he been standing in the doorway?
“Thought you went for your run, nature boy,” I said, grasping for any conversational straw I could find.
“Forgot my water,” he said, grabbing his water bottle and taking it to the sink to fill it.  When he finished, he turned around to face us again, then frowned.  “What’s all over the table?”
I blinked down at the spilled coffee.  “Oh, uh, Cass made a mess.”
“It was Dean,” Cass rebutted.
“Yeah, but you’re the one who-”
“I don’t wanna hear it,” Sam said, and with that he just left.
“Who pissed in his cornflakes?” I complained, reluctantly getting up.
Cass’s hand slid down my thigh, and then it was gone.
Good.  Who wanted awkward touching with their best friend?
I got a towel and wiped off the table, returning everything back to normal.
- 6 -
“You ready to go already?” I complained at Sam.
He held up a finger, then turned his back on me, returning to his hushed phone conversation.
“You know that cell phones are this futuristic device that you can actually bring in the car and continue your conversation as though you never left home,” I pointed out.  Jody had called us to Sioux Falls for a haunting, and I was anxious to get on the road.  We hadn’t taken a case in a while.
“I think he would like some privacy,” Cass pointed out.
“Is this like when Sammy hit puberty and discovered the wonders of jerkin’ the gherkin?”
“No, Dean, this is not like that,” Cass said with a shake of his head.
“Well are you at least ready to go?” I asked, resting my arms on the roof of the car so I could look at Cass standing on the other side.
“Seeing as how I do not need to change my clothing or participate in any human bathing rituals, yes, I believe I am ready,” he said, holding up his empty hands.
“You get shotgun then,” I said, sliding the driver’s side door open and getting behind the wheel.
“I do?”
“Yep.”
Cass seemed pleased as he took the seat next to me.
I rolled down the window.  “C’mon already, we’re gonna leave without you.”
Sam made a stupid face at me and continued talking.
I started backing the car up.
He didn’t even bat an eyelash.  The damn smarmy bastard knew I wasn’t going to leave without him.
Hunting was him and me.
And sometimes Cass.
And this time Claire and Jody.
And possibly Patience and Kaia?
But hunting really came down to me and Sammy.
Mostly.
So I waited, while still giving him as much shit as possible, until he finally came over to the car.
He tossed his bag in the trunk and went to get in on the passenger side, only to stop when he saw Cass.
“Get a move on, Sasquatch,” I said.
Sam rolled his eyes at me and got in the back.
“Finally,” I groaned, pulling out and letting my baby purr.
“Were you able to work things out?” Cass asked, glancing back at Sam.
“It’s not that simple, Cass,” he replied.
“Or perhaps humans make things too complicated.”
Sam rubbed his face with his hand.  “We’ll figure it out.”
“I’m sure you will,” Cass agreed.
“Sammy’s still not getting’ any?” I decided to contribute.
Sam sighed loudly from the back.
“Dean, while it is not in your nature, it would be helpful to show more sensitivity to your brother’s situation,” Cass scolded me.
“I’m totally sympathetic, man,” I protested.  “Not getting laid is no joke.”
“It must be difficult for you as well, then,” he commented.
“I get laid,” I said, offended  “Ain’t nobody gotta worry about me.”
“I’m a little worried,” Cass confessed.
“Excuse you?”
“Well, every time we go out to a bar lately, you always spend all your time with me instead of finding a female companion to have intercourse with.”
“‘Intercourse’?” I mouthed at Sam in the rearview mirror, but he just rolled his eyes at me, still looking sulky.
“Dean, has your recent high alcohol consumption perhaps negatively affected your sex drive?” Cass inquired.
“Dude, no,” I scoffed at him.  “Nothin’ wrong with nothin’, all systems are ready to go.”
“So why haven’t you found a partner?” he persisted.
“Ain’t you gonna get jealous if I ditch you for some chick?”
“Yes, obviously,” he said.  “But I’m used to it.”
“Yeah?” I asked, my eyes sliding to him and then quickly back to the road.  “You the jealous type?”
“Yes,” he rumbled in that ridiculously deep voice of his.  “It seems I am.”
I could feel his eyes on me, and suddenly my mouth was dry.  “Oh.”
He was studying my face carefully now.  “Does it bother you?”
“Nah,” I said, trying to sound casual and probably failing miserably.  It was just such a strange thing to think about, Cass being jealous of the women I picked up.  Because he wanted to…
I swallowed loudly.
“You promised me you would tell me if I ‘cross’ a line,” he said quietly.
“Yeah, I will,” I said with a nod.  I flicked my eyes to meet his briefly, flashing him a reassuring smile.
Cass’s expression was soft, his eyes crinkling with warmth.
It was a nice expression.
I bit my lip, looking ahead at the road again.
“Get a room,” Sam muttered from the back.
I’d forgotten he was there and it freaked me out for a second, but a quick glance in the rearview mirror told me that he had his face buried in his phone and was barely paying attention to us.
It was just him being an annoying little brother.
It didn’t mean anything.
- 7 -
Jody’s house was… loud.
“Or maybe you’re just gettin’ old, kiddo,” Jody informed me with a snort.
“Does anyone wanna hear that Billie Eilish mumblin’ after they been diggin’ up graves all night?” I complained.
“You claim to not like it, and yet you know so much about it,” Claire hummed, grabbing another beer out of the fridge and moving back towards the living room.
I rolled my eyes.  “Know who Celine Dion is, doesn’t mean I wanna listen to her secretly in my headphones like Sammy’s always doin’.”
“The lady doth protesteth too much,” she declared, disappearing back into the noise.
“I am neither a lady nor protesteth-ing,” I muttered.
“Did Claire just make a Shakespeare reference?” Jody asked with a squint.
“She does actually read,” I pointed out.  “Though the quote was kinda off…”
Jody sighed.
I knew that sigh.  It was the ‘I wish Claire would go back to school’ sigh, and it always gave me complicated feelings.
Patience came into the kitchen before I had to think too much about it, flicking her eyes over the two of us before asking, “are you two going to stay in here all night?”
“Preferably,” I said.
“Someone’s gotta keep our guest company,” Jody said, like she actually wanted to go in that living room and drink Smirnoff ices with a bunch of 20-somethings and Sam while listening to chick music.
Patience gave a live-and-let-live shrug and went back to the living room.
“So,” Jody said, and suddenly I realized that ‘I wish Claire would go back to school’ look was directed at me, which made no sense unless, “ever start to think you’re getting a little too old for grave digging?”
“You’re the one who called us in,” I pointed out.
“It was an easy enough salt-and-burn.”
“Yeah, easy after digging up three wrong graves,” I groaned, rubbing my shoulder.  Everything ached.  “You sayin’ you called us out on a case to tell us we’re too old to be takin’ cases?”
“Just starting a conversation,” she said.  “Sam and Eileen…”
“What about them?” I muttered, peeling at the label on my beer.
“Seems like maybe living in an underground bunker with the brother-in-law might not be their ideal future together,” she said, leaning back in her chair and trying to catch my eye.
I continued to shred the label.  “It’s a free country.”
She sighed, loud and knowing, but whatever she wanted to say was cut off by Cass appearing beside me.
“I was able to remove the evidence from the police locker, so they will not be pursuing Claire,” he said.
“Thanks, Cass,” Jody said with a nod.
“Of course,” he said solemnly.
“Man of the hour,” I announced, slapping him on the back.  “C’mon, sit down and take a load off.”
“I have not bore any load,” he said, but he sat down next to me anyway.
“You want somethin’ to drink?” I offered.
“Whatever you are drinking.”
I got up and went over to the fridge, grabbing two beers since mine was almost done.  I passed one bottle to Cass as I sat back down and we did a little cheers before popping open the bottles and taking a drink.
Jody was looking at me, her brow furrowed.
“Got somethin’ on my face?” I asked with a snort.
“Oh, don’t mind me,” she said.
I definitely minded, but Cass decided to take that moment to wax poetic about the cruelty-free vegan chapstick that was sitting on the table.
I found myself sinking more comfortably into my chair, all the sharp edges of the day blunting pleasantly.  I finished my beer, and Cass got up to get me another one, and one for Jody as well.
“Here you are,” he said, his hand lingering on the bottle after he passed it to me, our fingers nestled together.
I mean…
“Thanks,” I said, pulling the bottle out of his hold and pretending that we hadn’t basically been holding hands.
“My pleasure.”
My eye twitched at that.
“Huh,” Jody mused.
“Huh what?” I asked, narrowing my eyes at her.
“Nothin’, just thinking,” she said breezily.
“About?” I prompted.
“Vegan chapstick,” she said, eyes flicking between me and Cass.
“Whatever,” I mumbled, slouching back into my chair and attempting to get my mellow vibe back.
“We have to think about the bees,” Cass stated solemnly.
I bit my lip, trying to stop the easy grin from spreading across my face and failing.
But Cass grinned back at me, and that didn’t seem so bad.
- 8 -
Apparently partying with adolescent girls was hard, because Sammy was still passed out on the couch, snoring away, when I woke up the next morning.
“Got your four hours?” Jody asked with a raised eyebrow when I plodded into the kitchen.
“Four and a half, I slept in.”
Jody shook her head, pulling down another mug from the cupboard and filling it with coffee.
“You’re an angel,” I told her, accepting the mug gratefully.
“An angel, huh?”
I wasn’t awake enough to deal with her judgement, so I drank my coffee instead.
“Dean…”
“It’s too damn early for that tone.”
“And what tone would that be?’
“The ‘I gotta teach you a life lesson’ tone.”
Jody snorted at that.  “Really?  There’s a tone for that?”
“Yep.”
“Well, then guess I better teach you a life lesson,” she said.  “There’s more to life than hunting.”
“Wow, really?” I fake marveled.  “I’ve never heard that one before.”
“Don’t be an ass,” she scolded me, kicking the leg of my chair.
“It’s what I do,” I said with a shrug.
“Dean.”
“Whaddya want from me, Jods?”
“I want to have an honest conversation without all your little deflections.”
I opened my mouth and then shut it because I didn’t want to prove her right by deflecting again.
She looked at me, really looked at me.  “I’m not gonna waste my breath even suggesting you get out of the life.  You and me, we don’t… we can’t pretend we don’t know what goes bump in the night.  But that doesn’t mean you can’t have more.”
“I tried the whole white picket fence thing,” I said, shaking my head.
“I’m not saying… look, your life is your own Dean,” she pushed forward.  “It’s not your mother’s or your father’s or even Sam’s, it’s yours.  You don’t have to live your life for anyone else, you don’t have to live according to anyone else’s expectations.  The white picket fence didn’t work for you, then maybe you don’t need a white picket fence.  But that doesn’t mean that there’s nothing else out there.  I never thought I’d have kids again after,” she hesitated, tripping over the words, “Owen.  Never dreamed it.  Now here I am with a house full of ‘em.  And I’m happy, Dean.  I’m at peace.  And sometimes I take a case, and a lot of times my girls take a case, and we’re always gonna be in the life, but we have something more than that.”
“I’ve got Sammy.”
“Dean.”
I didn’t know how she could put so much disappointment into my name, but there it was.  “Why can’t that be good enough?” I challenged her.
“Because you’re not happy,” she said.  “Because you’re just waiting for a case to come along that ends it all.”
I clenched my jaw.
“I’m not gonna sit back quietly and wait for you to destroy yourself.”
I looked away from her, my eyes stinging.  It was too damn early for this existential bullshit.  “I’m fine, Jody,” I gritted out.
“No, you’re not,” she said, leaning forward and trying to catch my eye.  “Hunting isn’t all you are.  You don’t have to get married or have kids if that’s not what you’re looking for.  You could start selling those amazing pies you’ve been baking.  You could open a junkyard and fix cars all day.  You could volunteer for Big Brothers and help out some struggling kids.  You have so much to offer this world.”
“Okay,” I said, hoping that would get her to stop talking.
“We’re all worried,” she said softly.
“I get it,” I muttered.
“I wish you did,” she said, shaking her head sadly.  “I wish you could see how exceptional you are.”
I scoffed at that.
Jody grabbed me by the ear.
“Ow, Jesus.”
“You’re exceptional, but you’re also a little shit.”
I couldn’t help but crack a grin up at her.
She sighed loudly and let go of my ear.  “At least Cass puts a little sense into you,” she muttered.
“Is that what he puts in him?” Claire asked from where she was leaning against the door frame.
I froze.
Why did she say that?
“Claire,” Jody groaned, directing all her mom-attitude at Claire instead of me.
“You save any coffee for me?” she asked, flouncing into the kitchen and ignoring Jody’s disapproval with an awakeness only possible with youth.
Jody was still frowning at her but nodded her head towards the coffee maker.  “I’ll get some eggs goin’ in a sec.”
“Great,” she said, taking the last of the coffee and shuffling out of the kitchen.
Jody turned her gaze back on me, her brow scrunching up.
I was perfectly fine and I didn’t need her concern.  And Claire was just making a stupid joke and I certainly wasn’t bothered by that at all, because why would I care that she just implied, “Cass and me aren’t…”
Her brow scrunched up even more, before her expression softened in understanding.
That was almost worse.
“Whatever you and Cass are is your business.”
“Yeah, but we’re not…” I trailed off, not even wanting to say it out loud.  “We’re best friends,” I settled on.  “Family,” I added.
“I’m glad he’s back,” she said, letting me off the hook as she pulled the eggs from the fridge.
“Yeah,” I agreed, relaxing a little.  “I missed the little nerd when he was gone.”
“You two are better together,” Jody commented offhandedly.  She started cracking the eggs over a bowl, then paused.  “How many are you and Sam gonna eat?”
“Feedin’ that Sasquatch?” I said with a shake of my head.  “At least two, more if he’s not on one of his hippie ‘I’m a fake vegan’ kicks.”
“How are you two related?” she murmured, going back to cracking eggs.
“Pretty sure Sammy was switched at birth,” I confided in her.
“That is biologically impossible,” Cass commented, appearing beside me.
Jody startled, smashing an egg too hard and clearly getting shell in the bowl.
“Apologies,” Cass said quickly.
“Okay, but have you looked at us?” I continued.  “I mean… do we look related?”
“You are both the true vessels of archangels,” he said with a frown.  “How many bloodlines do you think-”
“But I’m sayin’, do we look alike?” I interrupted him, not wanting to listen to logic.  “I mean, he’s so freakishly tall.  And that hair!”
“You take after Mary,” Cass said, squinting at me.  “Sam takes after your father.”
“But is it the same father?!”
Cass rolled his eyes, and I couldn’t help the grin spreading across my face.
Jody saw.
Jody knew.
Whatever.
Cass was my best friend, and being around him made me happy.
Period, end of story.

Rewatching Fresh Blood
Welcome to “There’s More Than One Way to Behead a Vampire: A Supernatural Rewatch Blog” with Lor and Mace!
 Up today, s3e7: Fresh Blood.
Sam and Dean stumble onto a vampire who's growing his vamp family by spiking women's drinks with his blood. Meanwhile Gordon (ugh) is back on their trail, but when he has a run-in with the drink-drugging sleazo, he gets turned himself. Even losing his humanity doesn't deter Gordon from his obsession with killing Sam, though, and now he's got vampire superstrength. Ooof. It all comes down to a mano a mano between Sam and Gordo, and Sam wins, killing Vamp!Gordon in a particularly savage way that takes Dean by surprise. The real winner in this episode, though, is Sterling K. Brown, who delivers a fantastic performance. Seriously, goosebumps.
Below is a log of our real-time reactions as we watched. Remember that there may be spoilers for any part of SPN’s 15-season run here. Note also that the nature of our conversation is adult and thus it may contain adult language and themes.

Hellsite Nostalgia Tour 2023 Day 237
Our Little World/Xmas Special
“Our Little World”
Plot Description: a teen who’s lost her souls leads Dean to Crowley and a fast-growing Amara. Castiel sees an old acquaintance on TV, stuck in an earthly body
Would I Survive the First Five Minutes??: No one died…that we saw
Yeah, bet that won’t come to bite you in the ass, Crowley. “You’re strong, but I’m stronger” “…for now” how do you ground the Darkness and not think that that’s gonna come back around some day.
Oh good. Misha’s done with whatever he was up to that prevented him from being here.
Did Dean just tell Cas to go touch grass? He’s not wrong. My boy is looking rough, and all he has done is watch TV
Ok. So it took an extra episode for the Lizzie Borden fanatic to die ☹️
Oh. Oh, Cassy. He’s been watching reruns of trash tv to stave off his thoughts and memories 😭
The look, the horrible dawning realization that he’s found Metatron, and Metatron’s working as a camera operator for the news
I know this wallpaper. This is the wallpaper from the Changing Channels episode
We’re back to exorcising demons?? Wellllllllll maybe not
It’s important that a growing teen learn some good cat memes
I’ve been checking out the lamps in hell, and they are really nice. There are a bunch of like art nouveau shades, they’re gorgeous
Omg he’s not even doing it for the news, he’s like a tragedy paparazzi. He might even be orchestrating it
Man, if this old asylum is where Crowley’s been hanging out or has an entrance to hell…it REALLY shows how much wreckage Amara caused in the demon ranks
I’m glad that SOMEONE ELSE has addressed the fact that every time someone mentions (or I type) the Darkness, I feel like we’re talking about the band for a second…I do wish it was someone other than Metatron
I mean, maybe don’t bait Cas into hitting you, Mets
Sure, Crowley, we’ll call what you and Dean had BROmance
Yeah, i guess that when the Darkness said “we’ll always help each other” or something like that, it cuts both ways. It’s not just a threat to Dean. She’ll protect him too…or she’s just mad at Crowley. I dunno
I’ll piece together what the parallels of Cas and Sam’s fights mean at some point, especially since Cas had to be baited into fighting and then really went on the offensive and ends up not killing Metatron while Sam goes in looking for a fight, tries to be a pacifist, and ends up killing a few demons. Cas was also having visions back at the bunker and Sam…well, he’s having them now
The indignity of having to keep your phone charged IS rough, Metatron, I know…
I AM UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE ENERGY WE’VE BROUGHT INTO HELL TODAY. Amara is very in love with Dean (who on this show isn’t?)
What is the lore in this show?!?! The Darkness is god’s SISTER??? (I can’t believe we’re getting this reveal when I’m so close to season 4 of Sherlock)
Why are you getting visions of the cage, Sammy??
“Xmas Special”
Plot Description: the Doctor and Clara are trapped on an arctic base and their only hope is Santa Claus!
Oh good, I waited til really late to watch another long dw episode
These elves are so mean to her!!
What a brilliant time for the Doctor to show up, seconds after Clara tells the very real Santa that she stopped believing in fairy tales
Is Santa a time lord? His sack of toys is obviously bigger on the inside…
You know what gets me about shows and movies that are meant to be for families that discuss the existence of Santa? And this might be a more recent phenomenon. But aside from the weird mechanics of adults who don’t believe in Santa still somehow finding presents under the tree from Santa on Christmas morning because of course he exists in this universe….but you’re also showing these shows to your like 5 year old who’s just learned through watching that there comes a time you stop believing in Santa even though they’re only now at an age where they can recognize Santa. It’s just weird and I have no idea if that paragraph made sense
Wtf is going on at this arctic base? Why can’t she look or think about these beings in the infirmary??
Ah damn…the Doctor and Clara fucked it up for these people. Whatever they were tying to accomplish, they just BARGE IN
LOW BLOW, DOC! You can’t bring up Danny, and you REALLY can’t insinuate that he’d be cheating on Clara. It’s too soon for her and it’ll pretty much always be too soon for her
Omg they’re really are gonna get saved by Santa…..he just sent an army of toys into this base
I’m usually not a huge fan of how Santa gets depicted in Christmas specials (not in a “this doesn’t fit my headcanon” but more in a “he’s just uninteresting” way) but this one’s at least a little fun and interesting.
I really think he’s a time lord
…I forgot they didn’t know they lied to each other…I forgot they lied to each other at the end of the last episode
I do love that they keep saying Twelve looks like a magician
He’s got a point…it would definitely be offensive, as an extraterrestrial, to find out we have a horror movie called Alien. Then again, we have a lot of horror movies named a lot of things, so…anyway “no wonder you keep getting invaded” is a good reaction
Ah, fuck. The Dream Crab got Clara.
I know this is the Doctor trying to save her, but in this perfect dream world, it’s super jarring to see the hallway walls turn into chalkboards with “DYING!” written all over them
Oh good. The Doctor has come to actually save her….excuse me?? He let himself get taken by the Dream Crabs too??
Huh…so the only way to kill them is to reject the dream
THEY DID AN INCEPTION?? The Doctor and Clara were in a dream but everyone’s been in a dream since the beginning? Since they all got into the infirmary??
He’s so against any real touchy freely stuff, and I am forever living for that
…nah, there’s still 18 more minutes. How…I don’t like this existential crisis they’re giving me “no one ever knows they’re not dreaming m. Not ever. Not for one second of our lives” don’t do that to my brain. Please
Stop physically reaching out to them!! What is wrong with you people?!
Have we really circled back to Santa’s real?? We spent a bunch of time proving he wasn’t real in the last dream, and he still might not be because this is still another dream but who knows??
This girl has an interesting Christmas itinerary. She’s gonna watch Alien and The Thing From Another World before her dad comes around. Then she’ll watch Miracle on 34th Street before what I can only imagine is a Game of Thrones marathon…and last “forgive Dave???”…which she’s somehow apparently already done that last one
Please tell me this isn’t yet another dream. What??? It’s been 62 years since they’ve seen each other??? It was another dream. When did Steven Moffat watch Inception? Did he wait four years? Because the number of levels of the dream were just too much. And then the tangerine at the end, like the spinning top.

It’s Not Everest (No Vacancy)
The neon “NO” is hidden behind an overgrown shrub, so Dean pulls the Impala into the motel parking lot before they can see that it is, in fact, lit.
“Awesome.” Dean says in a tone that clearly doesn’t think so, and whips the car around to pull back onto the dark road. They immediately hit a pothole and Sam’s head bumps the ceiling.
“Ow, wait, Dean, we didn't go check with the office, maybe they just left the sign lit because they can’t freaking see it–”
“No, Sam, every goddamn motel in this godless town is full up and I don’t particularly feel like walking into another musty fucking office just to have them tell me I need to learn how to read. It’s too damn late, I’m too damn tired, I’m just gonna find a pull-off where the cops won’t feel the need to be our 5AM wake-up call and we’re sleeping in Baby. Fuck it.” He emphasizes the last sentence by throwing the car into park, all seventeen feet of shiny black metal successfully hidden behind a bank of tall, scraggly shrubs off the shoulder of the road. Dean kills the engine and the early summer evening rises to fill the silence with the musical stylings of several hundred crickets.
“Dean.”
“We’ve done it before, Sam.”
“I know we have. What about Cas?”
Dean looks over at the passenger’s side. Sitting shotgun, Cas looks back at him, his eyes just a dark glint in the moonlight.
“I can just... keep watch outside.” He says.
“Bad fucking idea.” Dean snaps. “I wake up in the middle of the night and see you out there lurking, I might shoot you between the eyes. You’re staying in the damn car.”
“Dean, there’s not enough roo–”
“Look, Sammy, passing out is passing out, sitting or lying down. This is a molehill, not Everest. I just need my four hours, damn.”
Dean crams up against the driver’s side door, crossing his arms over his chest, leaning his bent knees against the back of the seat between himself and Cas. He’ll worry about bootprints on the leather upholstery when he isn’t so fucking exhausted.
“Jerk.” Sam mutters from the backseat, almost inaudible.
“Goodnight, bitch.”
“Goodnight, Dean. Sam.” Cas murmurs.
“Don’t make it weird, Cas.”
"Goodnight, Cas."
"Thank you, Sam."
Dean gives a little huff through his nose. Cas folds his hands in his lap and turns his head forward to watch the fireflies.
Dean doesn’t like it when Cas watches him sleep. Cas knows this.
But if he doesn't want eyes on him, he shouldn’t be drawing so much attention to himself. This is the fourth time inside of an hour that he’s shifted around, clearly uncomfortable with his sleeping arrangement, six feet of full-grown man trying to figure out how to make three feet work for him.
It's clearly not working out.
Dean's head has fallen against Castiel’s arm. He’s snoring gently, Cas can feel his breath warm through the sleeve of his trench coat.
He shuts his eyes. Pulls his focus down to just this, the upper lefthand side of his body. Feels the weight of Dean's head, the unyielding shape of his skull, the softness of his cheek. Cas turns his head towards him, just to better assess the situation. Not at all to feel the soft tickle of Dean’s hair against his nose and lips. That’s just an... accidental consequence.
Cas feels too big for his own skin. It’s something a multidimensional wavelength of celestial intent should be entirely familiar with, but this isn't the feeling of cramming a Chrysler building into a 5-foot-11-inch frame.
This is bigger than that.
The slump of Dean’s body across the seat means that his head is the only thing supported, and it has his neck at a bad angle. If Dean's an angry sleeper, he's even worse with a crick in his neck and Cas doesn't love the idea of being stuck in a car with that tomorrow. He can't pull Dean more flush against his side without the risk of waking him and sending him into a conniption of bruised heterosexuality, so instead, he carefully lifts his arm. It works perfectly: Dean slides forward, falling to lying down with his head in Cas' lap.
The effect is immediate. The uncomfortable pinch between Dean's brows smooths away and he takes a deep, slow breath, settling against his new pillow and sinking into an easier sleep.
Cas hasn't realized he's smiling, yet. It's a tiny, soft thing, the one he gets when he's looking at something precious.
He is.
The moonlight catches the sweep of Dean's eyelashes, the top of his cheek, the shell of his ear, gilding them silver. His lips are parted, plush and dark in the contrast of the pale light. He's slightly curled up on the bench seat and Cas knows it's to fit the small space but that doesn't mean it's not the most fucking endearing thing he's ever seen.
The short hair over Dean's ear is mussed from the way he was slumped like a grumpy turtle past the collars of his shirt and jacket. Delicate, Cas brushes it right again.
Dean shifts, pressing up into his ghost of a touch. Cas draws back, afraid he's been caught doing something definitely not on Dean's approved list of Things Just Friends Do, but Dean doesn't wake. Cas' hand hovers.
He shouldn't. He should return to looking out of the front windshield and prepare the diffusion for when Dean wakes up to find himself sleeping in Cas' lap. That's what he should do.
The trouble is, nothing short of a fucking catastrophe could pull his eyes away from this. Dean is so beautiful, so calm and easy in his slumber, and he's right here, safe and close and warm. Literally right in his lap.
Cas pets Dean's hair, feeling that dangerous constriction again, something so huge and profound it might very well burst him. Dean sleeps on.
"You should tell him."
Sam's voice from the backseat is so quiet it's barely a whisper, but it startles Cas like a gunshot. He turns his head a margin to find Sam watching him, head and shoulders against the back driver's side door, arms crossed over his chest.
"Did you say something?" Cas tries, matching Sam's barely-there whisper.
"You heard me."
"Tell him what?"
"You love him."
Cas turns his head further so he's not just looking at Sam out of his periphery. There's nothing accusatory in Sam's tone, quiet as it is, or in his posture, cramped as it may be. He looks back at Cas with nothing but the same easy camaraderie he's always shown him, like they're discussing a good book or the lovely weather, not a complete paradigm shift.
In his lap, Dean tucks one hand under Cas' thigh and nuzzles his face deeper against the fabric of his pants. Cas looks down at him again and feels ready to explode into several new galaxies.
"I can't." He breathes.
"Why not?"
"You know your brother, Sam.” Cas says, unable to stop himself from stroking light fingers through Dean’s hair again. “And I’m happy. I refuse to risk losing him in pursuit of something I don’t need from him.”
“You’re right, I do know my brother. Probably better than he’d like to believe.” Sam says. “And I think he might surprise you, given the chance.”
Cas looks back at Sam like he wants to argue, but then just closes his mouth, his jaw bunching. Sam gives a little shrug and sits forward, reaching behind himself for the door handle.
“Just some, uh… food for thought.” He says. “I’m gonna hit the head. I’ll take my time. No particular reason.”
“Sam.”
But Sam’s already unfolding out into the night air, the car rocking as his weight shifts. The crickets are suddenly much louder, invading their little bubble of quiet. In Cas’ lap, Dean twitches.
Sam shuts the car door and Dean sits bolt upright. His gun, dropped in the footwell before he fell asleep, is in his grasp in a blink.
“Sam's just gone to relieve his bladder.” Cas says next to him. Dean squints at him and sniffs, wiping at his groggy eyes, then flicks the safety back on. The gun hits the footwell again with a dull thunk.
"God. Like a damn cashew. You'd think with all that height there'd be more... storage."
Cas is carefully looking forward, and not at the red mark on Dean’s cheek that’s the same shape as the warm spot rapidly cooling on his thigh. Dean rubs at that side of his face.
“Was I…?” He clears his throat. “Uh.”
“Asleep? Yes. I thought that was the idea.”
“Lying on you.”
“You needed to stretch out.”
Dean gives a frustrated sigh. “No, Cas, man, that’s your personal space. You should have shoved me off.”
“It was easier on your neck.” Cas says, still looking straight ahead. “You weren’t bothering me.”
“That’s not the point. You gotta have boundaries.”
“What’s mine is yours, Dean. I have no qualms sharing everything I have with you.”
Dean scoffs, leaning forward over the steering wheel and tilting to pop his spine. “Jesus. You ol’ romantic.”
Cas turns his head to look at Dean. The slightly uncomfortable smirk slowly slips off of Dean’s face. His eyes drop to Cas' lips before he catches himself, and he makes a weak attempt to laugh the charge out of the air between them.
“Man, you gotta figure out your levels. Last person who looked at me like that had me thinking marriage."
“Dean, why do you say things like that?”
Dean’s shoulders shove up under his ears. “You turn eyes like that on some innocent girl she’s gonna up and devote her entire life to you, Cas, I’m just letting you know you gotta tone it down!”
“Why would I turn eyes like this on some innocent girl?”
“Because you’re doin’ it to me like you think it’s a normal thing to do!”
“Dean, maybe you need to figure out how to receive a signal without assuming the other person isn't aware of what they're broadcasting." Cas snaps, then subsides as something like fear flickers across his face.
Dean’s jaw hangs uselessly for a stunned moment.
"Cas. You–"
Cas watches him in the manner of a gazelle waiting for a sudden deadly movement. Dean's gaze flits to Cas’ lips again.
"You. Uh." He says eloquently, and his tongue darts out in a nervous motion. This makes his lips impossible to ignore, shiny and wet in the moonlight.
“It's not Everest." Cas whispers.
"It kinda fuckin' is." Dean says, hoarse.
“Forget it. You should go back to sleep.” Cas says, reaching towards Dean with two fingers. It’s his fighter’s instinct that makes Dean grab them before they can touch his forehead, but it’s something else entirely that bunches his other hand in the front of Cas’ coat and yanks him forward. Cas tumbles gracelessly on top of Dean, and Dean doesn’t give either of them time to think.
At the first touch of Dean’s lips, Cas melts. A tiny sound escapes him, not quite a sigh, not quite a moan, and he’s grasping Dean’s shoulder like it’s the only thing preventing him from falling into the footwell. Their mouths part with a soft, wet noise and Cas meets Dean’s eyes, almost too close to focus on.
His arm is pressed across Dean’s chest from his fall. He can feel Dean’s heartbeat, galloping like an outlaw with the sheriff on his tail, and he understands the feeling.
“Dean.” He croaks.
“Yeah.”
“Do that again.”
Dean nuzzles their noses together, nudges Cas’ mouth in a barely-there brush of lips. Cas touches Dean’s face, dizzy with it, feeling stubble rough on the skin of Dean's jaw. He presses forward, holding Dean’s face like the beloved thing it is, and kisses him reverently. Dean sinks against the door until he’s lying across the seats and shoves his arms up under Cas’ suit jacket, encircling his back.
The crickets play them a love song. It’s entirely lost on them.
When Sam returns, approaching the Impala with caution, he finds his brother asleep with his angel hugged against him like a large, man-shaped teddy bear. Cas glances up, clocking the motion of Sam leaning over to peer through the driver’s window, and there’s a smile on his face that Sam’s never seen on him before.
If happy was what he had been, then this? This is pure, unfiltered bliss.
Sam slides carefully into the back seat and shuts the door as gently as he can.
“I’ll save my I Told You So, but only because you look so cute.” He whispers.
“Sam.”
“Yeah?”
“Thank you.”

"I call dibs on the single!" Dean shouted upon entering the motel room, plopping himself onto the bed in a starfish position.
"And why exactly do you get the single bed?" Y/N sassed, one hand on her hip.
"Because I'm the oldest and because I said so," he grinned cheekily.
"Well, then who gets the double?" she asked.
"Easy. You guys can share."
Y/N rolled her eyes, but reluctantly walked over to the bed and threw her bag down. She considered that it wasn't the first time they'd had to share a bed, in fact, they'd had to do it multiple times in college.
Sam seemed hesitant, but then again, she'd just chalked it up to him being a gentleman. Though she wondered sometimes if it was because he felt as nervous around her as she did around him, she'd pretty much convinced herself that he'd never feel the same way she did.
"I can take the couch," Sam offered.
Almost too quickly, Y/N blurted out, "No, Sam, the bed is big enough for both of us."
He silently nodded, walking over to the bed and placing his bag down as well.
"I call dibs on the shower," they spoke in sync, both looking through their overnight bags at the same time.
"You can go first," Y/N said, looking up at him.
"No, it's OK, you go," he insisted.
"Suit yourself."
And with that, Y/N took off for the bathroom, toiletries and pajamas in hand.
As Sam continued to unpack his things, he felt a certain set of green eyes looking at him. "What, Dean?"
"You might as well share the shower too, Sammy," he giggled from his own bed.
After successfully throwing and hitting Dean with one of the pillows on the bed, Sam sighed, "Of all people, why did I have to get stuck with you?"
"You think you got it bad? I have to sit here and watch you to subconsciously flirt with each other while thinking the other person hates you," Dean commented. "And that is very painful."
"Shh, she can probably hear us," Sam whispered.
"Just tell her!"
"Yeah, when pigs fly."
☆☆☆
A couple hours had passed and Dean was sound asleep in his own bed. Y/N and Sam had stayed up doing research on the current creature they were hunting, but eventually decided to get some sleep themselves.
Originally, the two had been lying as far apart as they could without rolling off the bed, but as soon as Sam fell asleep, Y/N quickly learned he was a cuddler.
At one point, he'd even had his arm thrown over her stomach, but Y/N managed to wiggle away, for fear of him waking up like that.
She lay awake, staring at the ceiling and wondering how in the world those two could fall asleep so quickly. She felt like she'd been staring at the ceiling and counting sheep for hours.
"It feels so nice to hold you," was what broke her from her thoughts.
She blinked a few times, trying to process the words Sam had just mumbled in his sleep. She played it off, assuming he'd been dreaming about someone else, anyone but herself.
"It feels really nice to hold you," he mumbled again, almost like he was making sure she heard him that time.
"You too," she whispered back, though she didn't know if he'd heard her or not since he never replied.
Finally having settled into his touch again, Y/N convinced herself that cuddling with Sam wasn't so bad, and the thought of that was enough to finally send her to sleep.
☆☆☆
"Rise and shine, ladies and gents," Dean greeted them the next morning.
Immediately upon stirring awake, Y/N realized it was now her arm over Sam's stomach. As quickly as she could, she rolled away, embarrassed that Dean had found her like that.
"What time is it?" she complained, smashing her pillow over her head to hide her eyes from the sun.
"Like 9:00," he laughed. "I'm gonna go get some brekky so I'll be back in a few," he said before heading out the door.
Y/N attempted to roll out of bed, but was stopped by a strong arm being thrown around her hips and pulling her back in.
"Sam-"
"Mmm, five more minutes," he groaned.
With a sigh, Y/N answered, "Fine, but only five. Dean's gonna kill us if we sleep all day again."
"Hey, last time was his fault," Sam mumbled, followed by a yawn, "He shouldn't have taken us out for all-you-can-drink tequila."
Y/N quietly giggled at his words, settling back into his embrace.
The two lay in silence, enjoying the other's company more than they'd ever know. Y/N noted that Sam still somehow smelled like his aftershave, though it had been at least twelve hours since he'd applied it. Meanwhile, Sam observed that Y/N's hair smelled strongly of her vanilla shampoo, one of his favorite scents he'd ever inhaled.
Suddenly, Y/N found herself blabbing, "You know, you're unbelievably cute when you're tired." Immediately, she covered her mouth with her hand, unsure how she'd let that slip. She found herself trying to cover it up by saying, "I mean, cute in a puppy way. I'd never watch you sleep if you were cute in a human way. You're cute like a German Shepherd," she continued, "Oh no, this is way worse. I'm gonna stop talking."
"Well," Sam started as he awkwardly scratched the back of his neck, "I think you're really cute when you're tired too."
Y/N's eyes lit up when she processed his sentence. "Really?"
"Like a German Shepherd," he nodded bashfully. "Unless…"
"Unless what?" she asked.
"Unless you want me to mean it less German Shepherd-y," he chuckled, still scratching at his neck.
"I'd like that a lot actually."
The two looked away from each other, not knowing they were feeling the exact same butterflies floating around in their respective tummies. Y/N felt the sudden urge to lean over and kiss him, but for fear of embarrassment, she held back. Unbeknownst to her, Sam was thinking the same thing, but he also held himself back.
"Would you two man up and kiss each other already?!" Dean grumbled.
Y/N jumped back, nearly going through the headboard. "Dean, you scared me."
"When did you get back anyway?" Sam asked, nearly under his breath.
"Long enough to know that you two are clearly experiencing some sexual tension."
Sam rolled his eyes at his brother's statement before looking back over to Y/N.
"Well?"
"Well what?" Sam chuckled at her question.
"Aren't you gonna kiss me?"
"I thought you'd never ask."
Y/N felt a thousand fireworks go off around her when Sam lips collided with hers. She felt a tinge of embarrassment when she remembered she hadn't brushed her teeth yet, but the feelings ignited by the fact that her best friend was finally kissing her was enough to outweigh it.
Sam knew it was cheesy to say, but he too felt sparks flying when their lips connected. Sam had kissed a few girls in his lifetime, but he knew one thing after kissing Y/N: she was the only one he ever wanted to kiss again.
"Took you long enough, Sammy," Dean chuckled once the pair finally parted.
"I agree," Sam and Y/N giggled in sync.
"Hey, I just have one question," Dean started.
"What's that?" Sam replied, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"Does this mean pigs are flying now?"

Bruises At The Bar
Tumblr media
Sam Winchester x Reader
Summary: Someone leaves a bruise on the reader when she goes to the bar with some friends. She tries to keep it from Sam so he won’t worry.
A/N: This is a little different than what I’ve written before but I’m hoping you like it. I wanted to highlight the fact that being protective over someone is okay, but stopping them from doing the things they want to do is not and Sam strikes me as the kind of guy that would understand that.  I hope everyone enjoys it!
Warnings: Creep at the bar, bruises, worry
                                                            ...
If you could stay in a hotel and avoid your boyfriend for the next few days, you would. You stood in front of the door to the bunker, contemplating whether or not to go inside and hide the freshly forming bruise on your arm or instead hide yourself for the next few days. The idea of putting Sam in that much of a panic just because of someone that happened at a bar didn’t seem all that appealing to you.
Sam always wanted to give you as much autonomy as he possibly could. He was so respectful and never wanted you to feel like he was holding you back or being too possessive just because he was worried for your safety. That was why he always encouraged you to go out with your friends whenever they were around. It wasn’t healthy to only be around your boyfriend for the rest of your life and he could take a few hours of worrying if it meant you got to live a happy, enjoyable life.
Your best friends had come into town to visit you. You had to be very hush hush about hunting and knowing that you had some profession that required you to be very secretive, your friends had offered to stay in a motel nearby and you could all go out together one night. Sam was so happy to see you happy and encouraged you to do it when you showed hesitance. He said he wanted to make sure you were getting a break from the everyday drain that your lives could be at times.
Everyone was going fine. You’d dressed up nice at their motel and all of you left together, walking into the bar confidently and ordering the drinks you wanted. Occasionally a guy would come up and try to talk to the three of you. The group would playfully flirt until finally telling the men they were just having fun tonight.
One guy got a little bit too into it though. He was flirting specifically with you, obviously very interested in the cleavage that showed in your dress. Used to wearing flannel shirts and jeans, you slowly were becoming more and more self conscious. Finally, you asked the man to leave, telling him you had a boyfriend.
“I’m sorry, but I’m really not interested,” You started, shaking your head and turning your body away just slightly to try to end the conversation. “I’m just out having fun with my friends. I’m actually already with someone.”
“That’s okay,” He leaned in too close, his breath hitting your cheeks. “I won’t tell him we did anything.”
You gave him a warning stare and pushed him away slightly. “Well, you won’t have to because nothing is gonna happen. Now leave, please.”
“C’mon,” He reached up to push a piece of your hair away and you cringed back, trying to move away from him. Your friends had now ended their conversation next to you and noticed the creep you were dealing with. “Just one night. It won’t take long.”
You reached up and moved his hand away from you. You wanted to break his hand, to break his wrist, but it would bring too much attention upon you and you weren’t sure if this was the time to use those skills. Dean had taught you those things for hunting. Would this even be an appropriate time to use it?
“Get away, dude,” You exclaimed firmly, giving him one final warning. Your friends were beginning to back you up, wanting him to go away as well.
Finally, his anger came to an accumulation and he grabbed your arm, pressing so hard that you let out an exclamation of pain. “Ah, what the hell?!”
As soon as the gasp of pain came out, your two friends pushed him away and the bouncer had now become aware of the situation. He quickly walked over, grabbed the man by the back of the shirt and escorted him out of the building. After making sure you were okay and safe, you and your friends decided to call it a night and left the bar.
You finally made the final decision to enter the bunker and attempt to wear long sleeves for a few days until he would inevitably find the bruise and you could pass it off as something other than the imprint of a male’s hand. Pushing your key into the doorknob, you walked into the entry and smiled at Dean who was sitting at the table on his computer and drinking a beer.
“Hey, Y/N/N,” He said, using the affectionate nickname only he used as he turned away from the computer and towards you. “Did you get hammered?”
You rolled your eyes at his teasing and chuckled slightly, setting your purse on the hook beside the door and moving towards the table to sit down with him. “Anything to forget the past, Dean. Where’s Sammy?”
He furrowed his brows and covered his heart with his hand. “Am I not good enough for you?”
“Where is he?”
“He’s taking a shower. You know how he has to do anything to not worry about you when you’re gone,” He said, going back to searching on the computer for a small case to go on. We weren’t looking for anything too big recently but if need be, we would go.
Sam tried not to let you know that he worried about you, but you knew he did. When you came home from anything you did alone, a thousand things would always be done. It was the only way to keep his mind busy. After losing so many people he loved, it was nearly impossible for him to just go about life as usual. It wasn’t always bad though. You knew all you had to do was pick up the phone and he would be where you were in a matter of minutes.
“I’m gonna get ready for bed,” You let out a sigh and pushed back from the table, walking slowly down the hall. “Night, Dean.”
“Good night.”
Your boyfriend stood in the room the two of you shared, a towel around his waist. His muscles flexed slightly as he took another towel to his hair. While you definitely enjoyed his physique, it was the way his eyes lit up when he noticed you that made you feel almost completely better after the eventful visit to the bar.
“Hey, baby,” He said, walking over and kissing you on the lips slightly before going back to dressing from the shower. He put on a pair of boxers and a t-shirt, knowing he would be going to bed soon. “How was the bar?”
You walked to the bed and laid down, allowing the muscles in your body to completely relax. “Good. You know that’s not really my scene though. I usually just go for Y/B/F/N.”
He nodded. Whenever Dean would try to drag the two of you to a bar, you would always try to fight it. Usually, you could convince the older brother to go to a diner if you promised to buy him pie.  On other occasions, he still forced you to go and you would sit with Sam in the corner, slowly sipping a drink.
Sam crossed the room and got on the bed with you, slowly wrapping his arm around you to pull you closer. “You want to put some pajamas on so you can get ready for bed?”
It was hard to imagine how you were going to pull this off without bringing attention to yourself. You’d been with Sam for a while now and getting dressed in the same room was commonplace. You stood up from the bed and grabbed some clothes to sleep in and began making your way towards the bathroom.
“You gonna take a shower?” He questioned, wondering why you were leaving to the restroom.
There was your excuse. “Yeah, I’m just feeling a little icky from the bar. Bunch of sweaty bodies all together, not a fan.”
He laughed at your explanation of the bar and turned on the TV in the room, decided to watch a bit of television until you came back into the room.
You changed in the bathroom, sliding on one of Sam’s long sleeve t-shirts. It comforted you to have his scent around you. Even though you liked to imagine yourself as a strong, independent woman, and you were, you had still wished for a moment in that bar that Sam would have walked through the doors and helped you. He wouldn’t have even allowed it to get as far as it did.
Exiting the bathroom and slowly padding across the floor, you climbed into bed on top of Sam. He turned off the TV and moved his hands around your waist, holding you close to him. “I’m happy you had fun with your friends. You deserve it more than you know.”
It always made you blush when he talked like this to you. He was so kind, so considerate. “Thank you, Sammy.”
The two of you laid together for a while, enjoyed each other’s company. He would occasionally press a kiss to the side of your head while his hand gently moved up and down your back. You asked yourself constantly how you deserved him? How was this the man that walked into your life all those years ago?
“I need to go get a glass of water,” Sam said, moving to stand up. He moved his hand over and pressed against your arm as he lifted himself from the bed. You let out a wince and tried to quickly cover it up. He had already noticed. “What happened? Did I hurt you?”
You shook your head quickly. “No, no. I’m fine.”
“You’re not fine. You winced. What did I do?” He quickly tried to grab your arm but you pulled it away. He didn’t need to worry more than he already did. “Did I hurt you that bad? Just show it to me.”
“Sammy-”
“Y/N, if I hurt you bad, I want to see it,” He was being more stern now, slowly growing frustrated with himself for what he thought he had done. You moved to the side of the bed and let your feet touch the ground.
“You didn’t do it, Sam,” You finally said. If he thought he had hurt you, he would never forgive himself. “It happened at the bar and you just happened to press on it when you got up.”
His eyebrows furrowed as he took in your words. “What do you mean it happened at the bar?”
Sliding up the sleeve on your shirt, you allowed him to see the fingerprint shaped bruises. His eyes widened and he gently took your arm, running his thumb along your skin. “Who did this?”
His eyes met yours. You could see that he was trying to remain cool to keep you calm but could see the fury brewing in his eyes. “This guy wouldn’t take no for an answer. He was trying to get me to leave with him and he grabbed me a little too hard.”
Sam closed his eyes and kissed the bruise, looking up at you painfully. “I should have been there. I would have made him leave.”
“It was okay, Sammy,” You reached out and placed your hand on his cheek. He always felt guilty when you were hurt. “As soon as it happened, my friends pushed him away and the bouncer got him. Everything was okay.”
“You don’t have to hide things like this from me, Y/N. I want to know when things happen.”
Dean peeked through the open door to say goodnight to Sam and stopped when he saw the position you two were in. “Everything okay?”
He was the one you really had to worry about. While Sam was concerned with respecting your autonomy and making sure you felt supported in your relationship, Dean saw you more as his sister and had no issue telling you no in order to protect you. He didn’t see the same relationship boundaries that Sam did. “Just dealt with a guy at the club.”
The older brother seemed concerned as he moved into the room. He got a look at your arm and clenched his jaw. “What bar?”
“Dean, pipe down. It’s not a big deal. I’m fine, I’m safe. He was just getting a little pushy,” You said it to Dean but directed it to both of the brothers. He bit his lip and rolled his eyes, walking out of the room.
“I’m sorry, Y/N,” Sam apologized. “I’m sorry that you have to deal with this sh*t when you go out to have fun.”
You shook your head. “It happens, Sammy. I just didn’t want you to be worried.”
“I’ll never stop you from doing the things you want to do, Y/N,” He said, pushing your hair back slightly. “Although, I wouldn’t mind if you let me come with you and sit separately next time.”
You laughed and laid back in the bed. It seemed like the best solution for the current problem. “Thank you for being the best boyfriend, Sam.”
He pressed a kiss to your cheek. “I know. I am pretty great.”

Part 2 to the supernatural MBAV crossover ✌️ Also this is on crack so I’m sorry in advance. Lol.
“Oh my gosh, Jack! We’ve been living here for two weeks! Do you know what that means?! We actually live here.” Y/N said excitedly.
“Yeah. I like it here I hope we stay awhile.”
“I have a boyfriend now! Do you know how cool that is?”
“You what?!” Dean exclaimed.
“Don’t eavesdrop! It’s none of your concern.”
“Yes it is. I’m your dad!”
“Moms handle the boys and the periods, and she promised me she’d visit sometime this week, so therefore, it’s none of your concern.”
“Since when have you had contact with Amara?”
“Since like a month ago. Uncle Chuck taught her about the world of cellphones. She promised she’d drop by for at least an hour. You don’t think she’s going to flake on me do you?” Tears welled up in her eyes. Dean held his arms out for a hug.
“Hey, come here, kid. Your mom has done a lot of bad things, but if there’s one thing I know for sure about her, it’s that she never says something unless she means it. Now about the boyfriend thing…”
“His name is Benny, he likes Star Wars, and he’s a calculus nerd. Good enough?”
“Come on Dean. Calculus nerd? You have nothing to worry about.” Sam chimed in.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right, Sammy.”
“Does that mean that me and Jack can go hang out with him and our other friends tonight?” Y/N asked hopefully, putting on the puppy eyes she had inherited from her uncle.
“Fine, but don’t be out any later than 1 am okay?”
“Got it. Would you be mad if we left right now?”
“No. It’s fine. Go ahead, but Jack she is not to be left in a room alone with this punk. Got it? Good.”
Y/N rolled her eyes. “Drama queen.” She muttered.
“I heard that!”
“Good!”
All of their friends had already arrived by the time they got there. The only thing missing was pizza.
“Dude the delivery guy was so slow last time though. Someone should just go get it. I’m starving.” Ethan complained.
“Not it.” Y/N and Erica said at the same time. Benny and Jack both looked at Sarah.
“Um…don’t look at me. I’m babysitting.” She gestured to Jane who was sitting peacefully watching Dusk.
“I’ll go.” Jack volunteered. Y/N tossed him the keys to the Jeep.
“Don’t wreck my baby.” She said sternly, laying on the floor beside Jane.
“Careful. You sound like your dad.” Jack joked. Y/N threw a pillow at him.
“Okay. Okay. I’m going.”
“So this Dusk thing, what is it even about?” Y/N asked. Erica immediately jumped in.
“Oh my god. It is so good. You’ve never seen Dusk? It’s about a human who falls in love with a vampire and vice versa, but there’s also this werewolf that’s in love with the girl, but she ends up choosing the vampire because, duh, she’s in love with him, but anyways it’s so good and you have to watch all of them with me some time.”
“I’ve seen the Vampire Diaries but I’ve never watched this.”
“Oh my God. Don’t you just love the Salvatore brothers?”
“I love Damon, but I’m not huge on Stefan. Oh and Katherine is so hot, but my favorites are Kol and Kai.”
“You have a thing for murderers with sociopath tendencies and you’re dating Benny?” Erica asked.
“Okay, just leave me alone. Kai is hot and he had reason to murder his entire family.” Literally the entire room was just looking back and forth between them in confusion.
“Remind me to never leave you two alone.” Sarah said.
“Did you just say murdered his entire family casually in a sentence?” Benny asked.
“Yes. If you guys watched the show you would totally get it. Although Jack doesn’t and I made him watch it but then again his biological dad is literally satan-“
“Wait. Wait. Wait. First of all, Castiel isn’t his biological dad? Second of all what is his biological father a serial killer or something?” Ethan asked.
That was when Y/N registered what she had said. “It’s not my place to tell you guys about his biological dad, so like please don’t tell him I told you anything.”
Everyone agreed and dropped it. Soon after Jack came back with the pizza. “Who’s hungry?”
“I am.” Erica whispered passive aggressively under her breath. Sarah elbowed her and gave her a look, mouthing the words shut up.
Benny, Ethan, Jack, and Jane all grabbed a slice.
“Want one?” Benny asked.
“No I’m fine. Thanks though.” Y/N said. Her mood had noticeably dropped, and it was because she was thinking of her mother. What if she didn’t come like she’d promised? Well, at least her cousin Gabriel promised a visit soon, despite her father’s protest.
“Hey what’s wrong?” Sarah asked her.
“It’s stupid. My mom told me that she was going to visit me sometime this week, but I’m worried she won’t show up.” At that very moment Amara appeared in the room. Now there was a lot of explaining to be done.
“Holy shit! Who are you and how did you do that?!” Ethan exclaimed.
“Wow. Gorgeous alert.” Erica said, ignoring the fact that a woman she didn’t know had just appeared out of nowhere. Y/N immediately jumped up and hugged her.
“I missed you, mom.” She muttered into her hair.
“Mom?!” They all asked at once.
“Woah. Woah. Woah. So what are you then?” Benny asked.
“Why are you guys not very freaked out about this?” Jack asked.
“We know about the supernatural, but nothing like this.” Ethan said still in shock.
“So, you made friends? I’m proud of you. How’s your dad doing?” Amara said.
“Same old. Same old. Sad, confused, protective.”
“Wait how do you guys know about the supernatural?” Jack asked ignoring the side conversation.
“That depends. How do you feel about vampires, warlocks, and seers?” Benny asked.
“Wait! You’re vampires?!” Y/N exclaimed suddenly.
“Not all of us. Just Erica and Sarah.” Ethan said.
“You guys haven’t even the ones killing people have you, because that would suck because then I’d have to kill you.”
“No, but really?! Kill us?!” Sarah exclaimed.
“My family hunts the supernatural! You guys have got to stay on the downlow or my dad and my uncle will straight up kill you and not think twice, please be careful!”
“Are warlocks on that list?” Benny asked.
“Wait, you’re a waflock and you didn’t tell me?!”
“We still don’t know what you two are and I think I speak for everyone when I say I would like to know!”
Y/N sighed. This would be a long conversation. She took in a deep breath. “So, my dad is the vessel of the archangel Michael aka the person Michael needed to possess to win the apocalypse which already happened by the way. My dad kind of saved the world. My Uncle Sam on the other hand is the vessel of Lucifer who is Jack’s biological dad which makes Jack a nephilim, and by the way Lucifer is actually pretty chill. But that’s beside the point. This is Amara my mom aka the darkness aka god’s sister which kind of makes me a Demigod which makes god aka Chuck my uncle and Lucifer, Michael and Gabriel my cousins which makes Jack my second cousin and also by the way Castiel is an angel too. Oh and also my dad is kind of gay for Cas but neither of them will admit but you know, subtext.”
They all looked at her with wide eyes. “If you plan on sticking with me welcome to my dysfunctional family.” She announced.
“Are they okay?” Amara whispered.
“Maybe. I don’t know.” Y/N whispered back.
“Ya know what? Cool. Also can we just talk about how Y/N has hot parents? MILF alert. Like it finally makes sense why she is so pretty.” Erica said casually.
“What’s a MILF?” Amara asked her. Y/N face palmed.
“It’s good. It’s a compliment, but don’t say it to anyone , ever.” Y/N tried to explain.
“Anyways…I guess I’m gonna go and let you all process this interaction. Benny, call me. Bye!” They all left, and Y/N insisted that they take the Jeep and not just teleport.
When they got back to the house everyone kind of just looked at each other awkwardly. “Mom and I are gonna go…what do normal teenage girls do with their non supernatural mothers? Paint their nails? We’ll go do that. See you soon.”
Dean looked at Jack waiting for an explanation. “I’ve got…homework. Yeah. Anyways bye.”
“What just happened?” Sam asked.
Dean shrugged. “Don’t know. Don’t care.”

Payback | Dean Winchester
✦ pairing — Dean Winchester x female!Plus Size Reader
✦ word count — 2.2k
✦ request — I was wondering if you could do a dean winchester imagine that is like the reader is like young and has been with the boys since she was 18 and now she’s like around 21 or 22. She lives at the bunker with them and helps with research. So, basically she’s fallen in love with dean and has been in love with him for years. She never says anything because she watches him go after all these skinny girls and thinks she will never be good enough since she’s big and doesn’t think he’d ever like her. Then one day she basically just reaches a breaking point and it comes out to dean, and after some angst they get together. Then maybe some fluff or smut?
✦ warnings — angst, age gap (reader is in her twenties while Dean is in his forties), reader is kinda insecure at times, language, mentions of past sexual partners, mentions of a past ilegal relationship, a twinge of jealousy, suggestive stuff, some fluff.
════════════════════════
You heard laughs on the other side of the bar, right under the Bud Light neon sign. Unable to stop yourself, you looked that way.
A small friend group had erupted in laughter. There was a tall guy in the middle of two redheads — you couldn’t see very well, but you could tell he had caught you staring.
So you deviated your eyes to the right, where the bartender served one of your companions another beer. A couple of beers in fact. Dean was talking to a woman, undoubtedly charming her as he rested his elbow on the bar and leaned in to whisper in her ear.
You couldn’t look any longer, you would be sick if you did. He should’ve been doing that to you.
Realistically, you were probably twice her size or more, but you still could dream.
That was the problem, truly — you only could dream. Dean would quit hunting before even considering seeing you as a potential conquest. By this point, you should have been used to it.
Your eyes went back to the friend group from earlier. The tall guy held your gaze for a moment — you couldn’t figure out his eye color, or what his eyes showed under the uneven light, but you damn well could see he was handsome.
Not wanting to give him the wrong impression, you turned to your side and picked up your jacket.
Maybe you should also start to pay attention to the men who were actually interested.
But they weren’t Dean Winchester.
Comparing every man you met to him was a reflex, just like comparing yourself to the women he picked up at bars.
The Bunker was eerie every hour of the day, but there was something especially uncanny about an empty Bunker in the middle of the night. Devastatingly so.
Turning on the lights as you made your way towards the library, you made a beeline towards the kitchen. You weren’t in the mood for drinking anymore or for food, but you knew you needed to drink water.
Taking refugee in the library, you looked around a few news sites to see if you found something. It wasn’t difficult to find something shady or weird going on, but filtering out conspiracy theories was a pain in the ass.
Eventually, you found just what you were hoping you would. Dean and Sam rarely took you with them for hunts, but perhaps you could convince them this time to at least let you watch from the car.
Sam came home a little later, tipsy enough to be in a good mood. You told him about the case you had found, he said he would check it out in the morning and wished you a goodnight.
Dean didn’t come home. Why would he when he could have literally anybody he wanted?
You didn’t get any sleep. You had hoped that listening to an audiobook would lull you, but like most things, it wasn’t enough to even entertain you.
You were sick of this, of being into somebody who would never be into you. And who the fuck loses sleep for somebody who doesn’t see them as anything more than a sibling? You, apparently.
You needed coffee and a hug, but coffee by itself would have to do.
To your luck, Dean was already in the kitchen when you entered. His hair was wet which meant he was, thankfully, fresh out of the shower.
Instead of greeting you, he asked, “Where’s Sammy?”
You shrugged. “I haven’t seen him since last night.”
“He took the car.”
You didn’t even know Sam had brought the car home the night before. “He must have found the case interesting.”
“There’s a case?”
“Kind of. It’s not too far away from here,” you explained, “but I wasn’t sure it was something up our alley. I guess Sam thought it was.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Because you weren’t here.” You could tell your answer offended him. Good.
“You should have called.”
“Babying you isn’t my job, Dean.”
“Funny you say that when babysitting you isn’t mine and yet...”
“Can you stop treating me like a fucking child for two seconds?”
“Stop acting like one and I might.”
“God, you’re fucking insufferable. I can’t believe I’m in love with you!”
You didn’t know whose eyes were wider, if his or yours.
“Shit,” you muttered under your breath.
He tried to be nonchalant, but Dean couldn’t even move. “Sweetheart, come on. It’s okay.”
You effusively shook your head. “It’s isn’t.”
“You’re overreacting.”
“No, you don’t get to tell me what to do or how to fucking react.” You were yelling now. Why were you yelling over this?
“I— well, I don’t know what to say.” He stuttered. “I mean, you are a kid. I could be your dad who had a kid at a young age, okay? This is fucking crazy.”
“You weren’t supposed to know. It’s humiliating.”
“I’m not going to give you shit about it.”
“No, you are. And then you’re gonna go and fuck somebody who’s actually hot and interesting and you’re gonna make me feel worse.”
“Hey, you’re interesting.”
“I’m not. And even then, you don’t go for them because they’re interesting, do you?”
“What do you want me to say?”
You wanted him to say that you were attractive too, that he would go for you in a heartbeat.
“Nothing.”
Both of you remained silent then. He had many chances to make it right, to have enough pity for you to at least apologize for not realizing you were in love with him sooner.
“ I’m gonna go,” you announced, having decided that this wasn’t worth it. The humiliation hurt, but his reaction stung.
He reached over and stopped you. “Wait, wait, wait.”
“What now?” Your voice broke and your lip trembled. Not now, you thought. But now it was.
“Don’t cry.”
“I can’t help it.”
He hugged you to his chest. “I hate seeing you cry.”
His arms were tightly wrapped around you, a hand on the back of your head and the other on your upper back.
“You’re making me feel even more stupid,” you admitted through tears.
Dean sighed heavily. His hand twitched against your clothed skin as he tried to keep himself from rubbing his face. “You know, maybe you need a break.”
“Are you really trying to get rid of me already?”
He didn’t deny it. So you pushed him off you and stormed out. You couldn’t even get a fucking consolation hug.
════════════════════════
You liked to think you were doing a good job avoiding him. It wasn’t like he spent that much time at home either way.
Expecting him to care had been too much, it seemed. You hadn’t wanted him to beg, or even fantasized about him chasing after you — you just wanted him to care, to at least told you he would forget about it or pretend you hadn’t said anything.
Sam entered the library, feigning interest in the stack of books you had piled on the table two nights ago.
He stalled, opening the one on top as though he hadn’t seen it before.
You shuffled in your seat. Waiting for whatever he would say.
He cleared his throat so you’d look up. You did.
“Dean and I are going out for a drink or two. Want to come?”
“No, I’m gonna watch something on my laptop and go to bed early.”
Sam gave you a worried look. “Well, if you need anything...”
“Have fun.”
Maybe Dean had been right, maybe you needed a break, and maybe —just maybe— this wasn’t the place you were meant to be at.
But you wanted to be there, and you wanted him. It fucking sucked that you would never get what you wanted just because you weren’t thin.
Story of your life.
You stayed in the library longer than you planned and eventually your tv marathon was held there. You had everything you needed and the chairs were comfortable enough.
Your laptop rested on the other side of the table as you leaned onto said table with your forearms and laid your head on your arm.
A knock on the thick door startled you. Looking up, you found green eyes.
“Did I scare you?”
You pressed the space bar to pause your show. “I wasn’t expecting you guys to come back early.”
“Sammy left with somebody so he’s not coming home tonight.”
You hummed, unsure as to what you were supposed to say. Should you say that you were happy for Sam? Should you ask why he hadn’t left with somebody too?
Dean spoke before you could come up with something. “Can we, uh, talk?”
Seeing you nod, Dean approached the table. He didn’t sit down, forcing you to crane your neck.
“I’ll find somewhere else to live,” you assured him.
He frowned, looking down as he searched for your now shifty eyes. “You’re leaving?”
“Isn’t that what you wanted to talk about?”
“No.” He rubbed his palm against his forehead. “I don’t want things to be awkward between us.”
You twisted your mouth. “It’s a little late for that.”
He hurriedly said, “I don’t want you to leave. You’re part of the family.”
“I think I deserve space to move on.”
A groan slipped past his throat and lips, rumbling in his chest. He was growing desperate. “Look... I’m trying to be the responsible adult here because God knows you won’t be.”
“So now I’m an adult?”
“It was never my intention to treat you like a child. I just wanted to put some distance between us.”
“You could have said so.” You didn’t think you would need to state the obvious to somebody as smart as Dean.
“I didn’t want things to be weird or to give the impression that I could take advantage of you if you were too close. I would never do that.”
Not proud enough to pretend you knew what he was talking about, you admitted, “I don’t understand what you’re getting at.”
“You’re pretty,” he blurted. “Really fucking pretty and interesting and so attractive that’s kinda unfair. And you’re also too young.”
“Dean.”
“Mmmh?”
“Kiss me.”
“Weren’t you listening to me?”
“Just kiss me,” you insisted. “We’ll forget about it if it doesn’t feel right.”
Dean took the chair beside yours out and pulled it to the side. His eyes didn’t meet yours as he leaned in, but they did when his nose brushed yours.
He softly placed his lips on top of yours. You saw his eyes screw shut before you closed yours. It was short and sweet, and when he parted from you, you feared you would have to go back to hide the way you felt about him.
Grabbing you by the waist, Dean made you stand up. He wrapped an arm around you while you rested your hands on his sides as a reflex.
He kissed you again, hard. So hard he unintentionally pushed you against the table. His tongue tasted of whiskey and those bacon-flavored chips you had never had the heart to tell him weren’t that good.
You brought a hand up to the back of his neck, kissing him deeply.
Dean took advantage of the fact that he had you trapped between the table and his body to caress yours. He started with your back and dragged his hands down to your ass.
His hands traveled to your torso, where he could surely feel your belly up, fingers toying with the hem of your black t-shirt.
You stopped his fingers from lifting your top and pulled away from the kiss. “Wait.”
“Having second thoughts?” he breathlessly asked.
“I’m not what you’re used to,” you explained through ragged breathing. “At all.”
”Really?”
You nodded, ashamed. One thing was him knowing how big you were and other was him seeing it for himself.
“Don’t take this the wrong way...”
“That’s a great way to let me know you’re about to insult me.” Fuck. You were getting defensive again — what a way to kill the mood.
“I’m not!” he defended himself. “I was going to point out that you’ve been around for a relatively short amount of time to know what I’m used to.”
“I’ve never seen you with a fat person before.”
“And I’ve never seen you with somebody older than you before.”
Was he playing dumb? “Of course you have.”
“Huh? When?”
“That guy in Texas was well in his thirties. And I dated somebody in their twenties when I was 16, I’m not too proud of that one, but—“
He interrupted you. “Nevermind. Shut up.” Dean kissed you again, bringing you flush against him.
You smiled against his mouth. “Is somebody jealous?”
“Maybe.”
“Good. Serves you right.”
“You’re evil.” He bit down your bottom lip and pulled on it.
“It’s just payback, I promise.”
Dean snorted. “Can’t say I don’t deserve it.”
You remained silent, allowing him to dissipate the tension. You would let him do whatever he wanted, regardless of the outcome, but you were too scared to say it.
You didn’t have to.
“Hey.” He cupped your face. “We don’t have to do anything you’re not comfortable with,” he assured you. His voice was uncharacteristically soft. “We can take our time.”

For the Saileen wedding festivities...
Cas and Dean are lying quietly in bed, settling in for the night early because (they’re old) they have to wake up early in the morning. More wedding stuff to be done, and Garth is coming over to start making centerpieces. It’s almost comical how quickly their lives turned around from fighting God from an underground bunker to arguing with a florist over the price of chrysanthemums (too damn much; Cas won that fight though).
Cas snuggles closer, his head nudging under Dean’s chin, and sighs. “Oh, Sam asked me to be his best man today.” he says sleepily, trailing a finger up Dean’s softly padded ribs.
“What?”
“Sam asked me to be his best man,” Cas repeats, confused, because he recognizes a less than positive tone in his husband’s voice. “For his wedding?”
Dean sits up suddenly and looks at him. “What? My brother asked you to be his best man? What the fuck?”
Cas squints at him. “Sam and I are very close friends, Dean. I don’t think it’s that extraordinary.”
Dean has a hand on his hip. This is not going well. “And what am I, huh? Chopped liver?” Cas opens his mouth to reply but Dean holds a hand up. “Don’t answer that. I’m his fucking brother, we’ve literally been to hell and back-” another more insistent hand up to hold against Cas’s interjection which was most certainly going to point out that he and Sam had also been to hell and back together. “Oh fuck no,” he climbs out of bed, already pulling on his pajama pants where he discarded them before getting in bed.
“Dean, where are you going?”
“To talk to my brother.”
“Dean, it’s late and-”
“Cas, I’m going to talk to my brother. This is bullshit. You’re the one who’s always saying I should talk more, well,” Dean throws his hands up, and he would look adorable if he weren’t so angry, with his rucked up hair and pajama set and wild eyes. No, scratch that, he does look adorable.
Cas rolls his eyes and gives up. “Okay, well, drive safely.”
Dean waves him off, already halfway out the door.
------------------------
Sam is not expecting any visitors.
He’s halfway down into his place next to Eileen on the couch, ready for his first ever viewing of The Exorcist (it hit too close to home growing up, but he and Eileen are working on picking up on the shit they missed out on because of hunting), when he hears someone pounding on the door like there’s been a murder.
Given the fact that any of his friends and family members would be much calmer if there’d been a murder, he can assume it’s not that. Given the fact that they have a perfectly functioning doorbell six inches from their doorknob, Sam can guess who it is.
“Coming!” Sam rolls his eyes and turns to give Eileen an apologetic glance.
One second - Dean’s at the door. He signs and leans in for a peck. She pulls him into a kiss that really should not happen right before he opens the door to his brother, but he’s not complaining when he pulls away after a few seconds.
Hurry back. There is a devilish glint in her eyes that Sam recognizes.
Yes, ma’am.
Sam leaves his fiancée with a scrunched up nose at being called ma’am and pulls open the front door. Dean freezes midair with his fist raised, halfway through another thudding knock. “What the fuck,”
Sam and Dean had made a deal after the first month post-chuck, and that deal included no non-emergency unplanned drop-ins after 8:00. Dean had agreed to it only after they both installed Life360 on their phones and got automated (and supernaturally modified) alarm systems for both their houses. So this was a breach.
“You asked Cas to be your best man?”
Sam sighs. He should’ve known his brother would freak out over this. “Yeah, we’re-”
“I thought we were good, Sammy! I mean I know I was a little uptight at first, with the moving out and the figuring stuff with Cas out and all that, but I thought we figured that out! We did the boundaries and that shit, Sammy you took me to fucking couples’ therapy!”
“It wasn’t couples’ therapy, it was group therapy, and it was for both-”
“I don’t give a shit! And then you ask my husband to be your best man instead of me? Your own damn brother?”
Sam blinks. “Dean.”
“What? You got a problem, you come talk to me about it! Isn’t that what we fucking decided?”
“Dean, listen,”
“No, it’s bullshit!”
Sam sighs and closes the door behind them, backing Dean up onto the porch. The cool spring made him hug his arms close to his chest. If Sam didn’t know better, he’d say Dean was shivering, but he did know better, so he knew his brother was shaking. And that meant that he was actually really fucking nervous about this. Shit. “Dean, I didn’t ask you to be my best man because I want you to give me away.”
Dean blanches. There’s a beat of silence where they both just look at each other. “What?”
Sam shrugs, feeling weird about saying it now. “Yeah, well, Eileen said that walking down the aisle at the end made her feel like she was an animal at a circus, so we decided I would.” He pauses, sure Dean’s about to make fun of him for another gender non-conforming move at his wedding, but he’s still too shell-shocked to be a smart ass, apparently. “And generally, the person who walks down last has someone give them away…”
“Yeah, like their dad.”
Sam raises his eyebrows. “Yeah, I don’t think Dad and I are really there… yet.” Or that they ever will be, but there’s no need to go into that now. Dean always gets this constipated look on his face when they talk about John. “Besides, I kinda want the person to give me away to be the guy that raised me, so…” he shrugs again. “I want you to do it.”
Dean has gone completely silent and he’s staring up at Sam either like he kicked his puppy or he’s just named himself the Pope.
“Uh, Dean?” He waves a hand in front of his face. “You in there? Breathe.”
Dean frowns at him but obeys and takes a deep, shuddering breath. “You want me to walk you down the aisle?” he whispers hoarsely.
Sam laughs, recognizing his face for the I’m-trying-not-to-break-down-crying face now. “Yeah, man. You’re my big brother. Of course I want you in my wedding. I just… I want you to be in the right place.”
It takes another few seconds of staring, but then Dean breaks into a wide grin and pulls him into a bone-crushing hug. “Fuck, Sammy, of course I’ll give you away, you fucking princess,”
Sam barks out a breathless laugh, not even sure if Dean’s trying to insult him anymore with the pet-name. “Great.”
Dean pulls back. “Does this mean I don’t get to make a best man speech? Because I’ve already got half my jokes planned.”
Sam grins. “Unfortunately, you can still make a speech. Just keep the sex jokes to a minimum, okay?”
Dean chuckles. “That ain’t your call, Sammy. Eileen’s gonna love it.”
“Shit, so it’s gonna be really bad.” Dean winks at him. He’s gonna need to make sure he drinks before that speech. “Alright, now can you get off my fucking porch? I love you and all but you’re ruining date night.”
Dean rolls his eyes and pats him on the shoulder. “Yeah, yeah, old man, go and enjoy your boring old stay-in date night like the nursing home patient you are.”
Sam fixes him with a bitchface. “You act like I don’t know you’re about to go crawl into bed with your husband and go to sleep just so you can wake up early and do the crossword before Garth gets there.”
Dean freezes only a second, but Sam wins. “Shut up.” he says quickly, finally retreating back to where the Impala’s parked on the street. “Tell Eileen hi for me!” he adds excitedly.
Sam grins and waves. It’s only when he’s going back inside to Eileen that it hits him how fucking lucky he is, to have a brother who cares so much and a family all around him like this. The love of his life sitting on her phone with a bowl of popcorn and m&ms in her lap waiting for him. He sits back down on the couch and signs Sorry about that - wedding stuff to Eileen.
She rolls her eyes. He freaking out again?
Always.
Such a brother-of-the-groom-zilla.
Sam laughs and grabs a handful of popcorn, signing again once he’s stuffed it in his mouth. Ready to make demons fun again?
Eileen nods, grinning. No talking about how you would hunt the monster better this time.
Sam scoffs. Like you won’t.
Eileen laughs and presses play.

---
Dean leaned over, putting his arm around you in the diner.
You felt your heartbeat spike, although you knew all Dean was doing was pretending. You looked around the diner, trying to memorise the faces that were here, pausing slightly on Sam who was seated at the other end, not looking at the both of you.
You guys had no idea what you were hunting. What you did know was that it was couples that went missing and that they all stopped at this diner – which made sense considering it was the only diner for miles.
But because of the fact that couples were disappearing, that left you to have to play a couple with Dean. Dean who could make your heart jump out of your chest with just a smile or a little chuckle. But you had to remain cool.
You let out a breath as Dean looked down at you. “You okay?”
You looked up into his green eyes and gulped, smiling. “Yeah.”
You shook your head. You had to focus.
“What can I get the both of you?” The waitress came by, smiling.
Dean looked back up and smiled. “We’ll both have the cheeseburger. And two coffees.”
The waitress smiled as she wrote down the order. “New in town?” She asked, her eyes lingering a little too long on Dean.
Dean smiled. “Road tripping with my girl.” His hand tightening a little around your shoulder, his fingers running down your upper arm. Dean was a natural.
A small disappointed smile flitted across the young waitress face as she waved her order pad. “I’ll get your orders in.”
But the diner was a complete washout. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary – no EMF, no cold spots, nothing.
“Maybe just showing yourselves has already set something in motion, let’s just hang tight for a while more.” Sam reassured you as the three of you pulled up at the motel after leaving the diner.
You nodded. “Yeah, I guess so.”
Dean tossed Sam a key. “That’s yours.” You raised an eyebrow.
“Gotta keep up the act.” Dean said, winking at you. “After you.” He said, swinging the door open.
Great, now you had to share a room with Dean. That wasn’t going to be pretty.
Sam smirked. “Later, lovebirds.”
You would have kicked Sam if you had been near enough. Instead, you rolled your eyes and headed into the room, dropping your bag off at the entrance.
“Dean.” You sent him a glance, as you stood in front of the king sized bed.
Dean grinned. “Come on, you love sleeping with me. At least I don’t snore.” He pointed to the wall.
You chuckled. “Point taken.”
By the time both of you had settled in, you were itching for a drink. “I’m gonna go grab something from the vending machine downstairs. You want anything?”
Dean looked up from where he was loading his gun and nodded. “I’ll come with you.”
You raised an eyebrow and Dean shrugged. “Hey, I’m just being a good boyfriend.”
You rolled your eyes. “You really think this thing is watching us?”
Dean shrugged. “Maybe.” He looked out the window, tucking the gun into his pants. “Come on.”
You followed Dean out, heading straight for the vending machines as Dean leaned against the wall outside the room, his eyes following you. You looked around as you reached the vending machine. It was quiet. A little… too quiet.
Dean seemed to share the sentiment as he looked at you from across the lot, his eyes roving the deserted lot.
You jumped as the canned drink fell with a loud thud. Now you were just scaring yourself.
You shook your head, chuckling at yourself when you felt a pair of hands grab you.
The last thing you saw was a blue light, as the sounds of Dean yelling your name faded out.
---
Dean groaned as he opened his eyes, the room swimming in front of him. He looked down, his hands tied securely to a chair. “What the…”
He looked up again and that’s when he saw you, your head lolling to the side. “Y/N? Y/N!”
Dean’s eyes darted around the room, his hunter instincts coming to the foreground, trying to find a way out. He needed to get to you.
The sound of footsteps made him look up again.
“Oh you’re awake.” It was a female voice and Dean growled as he noticed the markings along her arm.
Djinn.
“So you’re the one responsible for the couples disappearing? What, is this like a fetish of sorts?”
The female djinn laughed. “One for me, one for my partner. I happen to like the guys, he the girls.” She motioned her head towards you, where another male djinn was circling you.
“You stay the hell away from her!” Dean yelled, before turning furiously back to the female djinn in front of him. “What did you do to her?”
The female djinn just chuckled. “You are really a couple, aren’t you?” She cooed. “My partner prefers to feed on dreams and desires, you know their happy place.” Dean growled again but she continued, “I, on the other hand, like to leave my prey awake. At least, at first. It’s always tastier when the males get all... protective.” Her hand glowed as she touched Dean’s forehead.
Dean groaned as he was touched, before his eyes rolled back.
---
Your eyes snapped open and you sat up, panting as if you had run a marathon. You were in an unfamiliar room that seemed too… homely?
You were extremely confused and you crawled out of bed. You frowned. There was too much crap here, things you never thought you’d see. Photo frames of you and Dean littered around the shelves. What kind of crazy world was this?
You closed your eyes, trying to remember something, anything, but you came up blank, it was like your whole life had been erased and now you were standing in the middle of what seemed to be your house that you had no recollection of.
“Y/N?”
Your head snapped up.
“Dean.” You breathed, glad of at least one thing.
“How did we get here?” You asked.
Dean’s brow furrowed a little in confusion before he smiled. “Still asleep? Go on, get ready then come out for breakfast.”
You cocked your head to the side, wondering what the hell was going on.
In slight confusion, you re-entered the room after getting dressed to see Dean dressed… nothing like Dean. “Dean, what’s going on?” You asked again.
Dean frowned a little. “Honey, you okay?” He reached out to touch you as a searing pain ripped through your skull and you thought you heard Sam’s voice.
You spun around. “Sam?”
Dean, who was sitting in front of you raised an eyebrow. “Y/N?”
You shook your head, trying to rid yourself of the headache but images were now flashing in your brain. The Dean in front of you wasn’t talking but you could hear his voice in your head, calling your name over and over.
You dragged your chair back, standing up and moving backwards.
“This isn’t real.”
You looked around, at everything that was almost too perfect. The happy pictures of you and Dean, Dean standing over the breakfast he had made you, the too-perfect life in a too-perfect house.
“This isn’t real.” You repeated.
You sprinted to the kitchen counter, grabbing a knife.
“Y/N wait!” The Dean in front of you called out. Everything felt so real that you were worried you were going to give in to him.
“Don’t do it, honey. Put the knife down.” He said, his hands outstretched, those green eyes you loved so much staring back at you.
You shook your head again.
“Honey, look at me, it’s me. It’s Dean. Your Dean.” The words bounced around in your head.
“Out there? That’s not real. This is real. You can stay here with me, for the rest of your life, we can be happy together.”
You could feel the strong magnetic pull towards this Dean, this Dean that loved you, this Dean that wanted to be with you.
This Dean that was fake.
You ground your teeth against each other.
“No.” You spat before you ground the knife into your heart.
---
“Dean!” Sam yelled, pushing a syringe filled with the antidote straight into Dean.
Dean gasped, his eyes snapping open, panting.
“Sammy?” Dean was still panting.
Sam yanked off the ropes. “You’re okay. Take this.” He handed him a knife dipped in blood.
“Y/N.” Dean breathed, “Where is she?”
Sam spun around. Your head was still lolling by the side, the colour slowly leaving your face.
“Son of a bitch.” Dean breathed, running towards you, Sam following close behind him.
“Y/N, Y/N!” Dean called, as Sam pulled the restraints off and you collapsed into Dean’s arms. “Damn it.” He cursed.
“Y/N!” Dean yelled again as your eyes fluttered open. “Oh my god.” He breathed.
“Y/N, you with me?” Dean called again, his voice frantic.
You fought against the fog in your brain. “Dean?” You mumbled. “The real Dean?”
Dean sighed. “Yes, I’m right here, okay?”
“Dean!” Sam yelled. Dean spun around, his eyes falling on the two djinn.
Dean growled, propping you against the chair. “Stay here. I’ll be right back.”
You were slowly starting to get the energy back in your limbs and you pushed yourself up as Dean growled at the male djinn, plunging the blood-stained knife deep into his chest.
His howl of pain was drowned out by the cry of rage from his partner who was struggling with Sam.
Dean ran towards his brother as she pushed Sam off of her, lunging at Dean.
He dropped to the ground, rolling towards the side before pulling the knife upwards again.
It was over.
“Hey, come on.” Before you knew it, Dean was back next to you. “You okay?”
You smiled and nodded. “Great.”
Dean still held you close to him as he pulled you upwards, supporting you as best he could as he followed Sam out.
---
You weren’t sure if you really still wanted to be here but both Sam and Dean had somehow convinced you that it was still better to sleep it off before the three of you headed back to the bunker.
“Can I ask?” Dean said softly, sitting down next to you on the bed.
You looked up at him.
“You scared me back there.” Dean offered. “I thought I was going to lose you.”
You cracked a small smile. “I’ll be honest, you almost did. It was a perfect world.”
You went silent again although you could feel Dean’s eyes upon you.
“You kept dying.” Dean whispered and your eyes snapped back up.
You turned towards him. “What?”
“That was my fear. The one that kept replaying. Losing you.”
Your eyebrows shot up. Dean usually refrained from sharing so much, he packed up his emotions into a box and shoved it down into a deep dark corner in his mind.
“I don’t know what’s worse, getting scared or being tempted into a perfect world.” You commented.
Dean sighed, leaning back against the headboard. “How’d you realise?”
Maybe it was because you hadn’t fully recovered from the djinn’s attack or maybe it was just being alone with Dean in here, but it was like you had no control over what you were saying. Your mind was screaming at you to stop but your lips kept moving.
“It was too perfect. A perfect world, a life with you. That’s what alerted me that it was all wrong.”
Dean sat up. “What do you mean?”
You looked away. “Dean, come on. I know where I stand with you. It’s fine.”
Dean tugged at your arm, forcing you to turn around to face him. “You don’t know shit.” He growled, his hands reaching for the sides of your face gently as he pulled you into a kiss.
Your eyes widened but it was too late for you to react. You felt an entire wave of emotions rush in, you could feel Dean’s breath, his stubble tickling your chin, his hands moving into your hair, his lips full on yours as he pulled you deeper and deeper.
When he finally stopped, you pulled away, furrowing your brows.
“I’m not totally sure I’m back in the real world.” You muttered, looking up at Dean.
Dean chuckled, “Oh sweetheart, trust me, this is very real.”
You put your arms on his chest, as if to push him away but you didn’t. “Dean…”
“Dean, you’re just... this is because we had to act like a couple. The hunt’s over, it’s okay, you can stop pretending.”
Dean shook his head. “I’m not. I was never pretending.”
You took in a shuddering breath, as you dragged your eyes up to his. “I swear if I’m still stuck in the djinn’s fantasy universe…” but Dean didn’t let you finish your sentence, pulling you in for another kiss.
“Real enough, now?” He asked, a smile playing on his lips.
You shrugged, “Are you sure?”
Dean gave you a look. “I’ve been sure for a long time. You’re the only one who couldn’t tell.”
Gently, he pulled you back into his arms, your head resting on his chest.
“See, the bed was a good call.” Dean teased.
“Shut up.” You snapped, smacking his arm. You let a small silence fall between the both of you before you spoke again, “This still feels… weird, like surreal.”
“You’ll get used to me.” Dean chuckled as you laughed and he gently took your hand. “I love you.” He whispered.
You closed your eyes, shifting closer to him. “I love you too, Dean Winchester.”

It Had to be Witches
Dean and Sam are on a hunt at Rowena’s request. When Sam is out of commission, Dean has to work with you.
Warnings: Unprotected p in v (wrap it before you tap it!) male oral receiving, fingering, mention’s of witchcraft, brief mentions of ritual style murders, brief mention of animal sacrifice, Dean is a sad boy.
Word count: 3567
All written and proofread (poorly) by me. All mistakes are my own. Please don’t copy or repost my work. Likes are great and I’ll love you forever if you repost and comment. Thanks for reading.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Sam and Dr. Philips examined each of the women’s bodies. Carved into their limbs were runes consistent with the ones Rowena described. She said she was sending an expert who lived in the area but the boys hadn’t made contact yet.
“The other agent who was just here asked the same questions. Don’t you guys talk to each other?” Dr. Philips covered the bodies. Some of the women he knew personally.
“Different departments. You said he was just here? How long ago?”
“She. Her name is Diana Luna. She’s down at the evidence locker. All the women had the same necklace. She went to check it out.”
Sam thanked the doctor and set off to find you. First he called Dean. “Looks like Rowena’s story checks out. Her expert was just here. The bodies were marked with runes and all of their tongues cut out. And, get this, they all had the same necklace. Maybe a coven?”
“Of course. Of course it’s witches, Sam. Look, don’t go far. I’m on my way.” Sam was sitting on a bus bench reading coroner's reports when you approached him. Due to the nature of the case, Rowena insisted the elder Winchester carry out the task at hand. “Use Sam as bait.” she instructed.
“Agent Cornell? I’m agent Luna from the Lansing office.” You extended your hand. “Director Macleod sent me.”
“Yeah, I bet she did. Bring me up to speed.”
“Sure. I’ve got what you’re looking for right here.” You blew a very potent powder in his face knocking him out. You put the lankier Winchester into your truck and sped back to your house. Getting his dead weight up the stairs was a task but you did it. “Sweet dreams, Sam.”
Dean searched the entire town square for Sam with no luck. He tried his phone again and it was going directly to voicemail. Sam could hold his own against any witch but Dean was still worried. As he unlocked the door to the Impala, he heard you call his name over his shoulder and turned his head to see who was speaking. You blew the dream dust into his face rendering him unconscious.
He was heavier than he looked. You shoved him into the back seat and pried the keys from his hand. Baby growled angrily when she started but you had her purring for you in no time. You drove him back to your house and dragged him inside where you intended to tie him up. Rowena coached you on all their tricks. You took off his jacket, rolled up his sleeves and divested him if anything sharp. With his wrists and ankles bound in a pretty decent slip knot you splashed his face with water to wake him.
“Morning, handsome.” he smirked as you wiped his face.
“Big mistake, sweetheart. I’m guessing you’re the one we’re looking for.”
“Pretty and dumb. Rowena was right and you would be guessing wrong. Her name is Teresa Wilson. She came seeking asylum with our coven a few months ago. Said her whole order was obliterated. Turns out, she wasn’t exactly who she said she was.”
His face split into a cocky grin, “They never are. What do you want with me?”
“You need to help me find her. Rowena gave me a locator spell. When I cast the spell, I’ll need your fancy bullets. Problem is…”
He laughed heartily, “Problem is you can’t touch ‘em, am I right, sweetheart?”
“You would be correct.”
“And what’s in it for me?”
You took a step back just out of his reach just in case, “If you help me I’ll let your brother live.”
He strained against the ropes veins bulging in his forearms. “If you touch one hair on his head I’ll rip you apart myself. You hear me, witch?”
Your nails dug sharp into the meat of his cheeks so he would look at you. “Relax, baby. Your brother is safe. He’s asleep upstairs dreaming of puppies and rainbows as we speak. But if you don’t help me, he’ll never wake up. And, Dean, when I kill someone, it sticks. No resurrections for Sammy this time.”
You’ve never seen a human man snarl before. It was pretty cute. Rowena warned you not to be mesmerized by his sweet face and his Disney Princess eyes but you couldn’t help it. The man looked like he would, in fact, rip you apart. And, Hecate help you, you wished he would. You traced a finger along his sharp stubble covered jaw. His eyes turned up to look into yours, throwing daggers at you. “Anyone ever tell you how cute you are when you’re angry?”
“All the time. Get to the spell so I can take my brother out of here.” he growled.
“It’s not time. If I untie you, are you gonna be a good boy or do I have to hit you with my knock out dust again?” You couldn’t take your eyes off of his perfect lips smiling at you.
“Sure, mommy, I’ll be a real good boy.”
You knelt in front of him and parted his knees slightly to undo the first knot. “Such a smart ass.” He growled low in his throat when you peered at him through your lashes. His dick grew painfully hard against his jeans as you slid your hand up his legs to maintain balance. Of course you noticed though he tried to squeeze his thighs together to hide his arousal. “Do you like me like this, Dean?”
Of course he did. You were just his type. A little bratty but you had a good heart. Rowena told them about you. The little warrior for the Grand Council. They constantly sent you to do their dirty work and you did so without question like a good soldier. No wonder Rowena paired the two of you. You were the female version of him. “Like what?” His voice was low and dripping with need.
“On my knees for you. Looks like you do.” You winked at him but he looked away embarrassed.
It had been a long time since he felt a woman wrapped hot around him. Everything in him wanted to follow your siren song and happily crash. He couldn’t do it. This story always ended bloody. “You couldn’t handle it, sweetheart.” He peered down at the bulge in his pants. So did you. Your core heated at the thought.
“Is that a dare or a double dare?.” He spread his legs and licked his lips inviting you to take what you wanted. You shook it off and focused on the task at hand. “Well in any case, I made you dinner. Pot roast, potatoes, peas and carrots. Eat if you want.”
It did smell amazing. His stomach growled remembering that all he had was coffee this morning. The living room and kitchen were well lit and warm. He felt at peace in this place. More so than the bunker where it could sometimes feel clinical and cold. “You got a pretty nice place here. You all alone?”
A sly smile played on your lips, “Just me.” You sat the plate down in front of him with a cold beer and a bottle opener. The oven timer dinged and, when you opened the door, the aroma of cinnamon and spice wafted through the air.
“That pie?” He sounded choked up.
“Apple. I have an orchard in the back. Rowena filled me in on how to keep you happy.” You sit it on the windowsill to cool while you ate. “I can’t have you bashing me over the head and running off before we kill this bitch.”
He shoveled a fork full of potatoes and gravy into his mouth humming in appreciation. “Why me? You had Sam here. He’s much better at this witch stuff than I am. Why drag me out here?”
“You’re more reliable when making difficult decisions. You’re what I need. Another beer?” He nodded breathing in the soft floral scent that wafted off of your skin as you moved.
You didn’t offer any further information and Dean thought that was probably for the best. If he got in his head about the situation he would lose his nerve and that can’t happen. That’s how people die. As of late, Sam has had a lot on his mind. Dean would have to shoulder this burden. At least Sammy was getting some rest.
The two of you shared a comfortable silence only marred by silverware hitting ceramic. “Well that was delicious. Thank you….umm…I don’t think I caught your name.”
“I didn’t give it to you. I’m Y/N. But I wouldn’t mind if you kept calling me sweetheart. Pie?”
Dean's heart beat hard in his chest at the thought of calling you sweetheart “Maybe a little. So when do we do this thing?”
“Eat your pie then meet me outside. I have to prepare.” You slipped out the back door down a dimly lit path to your cauldron. You threw in the mandrake and tobacco. Last was the chicken that you had to slaughter. You grabbed a hen from her coop and stabbed her with your athame. It made a terrible sound which sent Dean flying through the back door ready to fight.
“What the hell was that?”
“Chicken.” You allowed the rest of its blood to drain and discarded the carcass. “periisti. lates. Ego te quaero. I vestrum adprehendet vos.” You chanted over and over until a glowing beacon appeared. “We have to follow it.” The orb circled the two of you then floated towards the Impala. You retrieved his keys from your pocket and started off for the car.
“Whoa whoa whoa. What are you doing?”
“Following the orb.” He grabbed your arm as you started to slide into the driver’s seat.
“No one drives my baby but me. You sit shotgun.” He impatiently waited for you to scoot over. When you reached for the radio he slapped your hand away. “Are you serious?!”
“What? There were other decades besides the 70’s.” He bit his lip and flared his nostrils letting out an unsettling growl. “Driver picks the music.”
“You are a child. Just drive. The spell won’t last forever” you huffed.
“So, just you huh? No boyfriend? Girlfriend?” You didn’t answer keeping your eyes trained on the orb. “Yeah me neither. Maybe later we can grab a drink.”
“My god. Can you keep it in your pants until we’re done? It took a left!”
He sped up taking off after it, “I see it. So that’s not a no.” That was all the invitation he needed. The truth was you would have given it up the moment those green eyes stared into your soul.
“It’s not a no. Let’s focus.”
Baby ate up miles of dirt road before reaching the highway. A couple of miles ahead the orb sped for an exit into town. You were led to the motel where the boys were staying. The door to their room was wide open and there Teresa stood bathed in the light of the orb. You bid it a job well done and sent it on its way.
Teresa, caught off guard, quickly muttered a spell pinning Dean to the wall, sending the gun skittering away. You faced each other down while Dean struggled. “She’s a kid!” he groaned in pain.
“I’m nineteen thank you. You don’t have to do this Y/N. Come on. We’re sisters. We share the same DNA. Let’s take them on together.” Tears welled in your eyes. You may have been blood but you weren’t sisters. She grew up far out of the Grand Council’s reach while you were their trained lap dog.
“Only half little sister. You’re hopped up on enough stolen magic to power the entire city. The Grand Council sent me to take you down. Adiuro te in nomine Hecate. Adiuro te in nomine Dianae. Tuae vires cum luna decrescant.” you chanted. She fought back but the binding spell was powerful. She didn’t have enough magic to hold Dean and fight you so she let him go. When he regained composure, he dove for the gun.
Without warning, Teresa gained the upper hand. She held out her arm and used all of her might to pull you towards her. Blood stained tears fell from your eyes as you struggled to breath. With every last ounce of strength you had you doubled down on the binding spell long enough to hold her so that Dean could put her down. The blast of the shot filled the small motel room filling your ears with a high pitched whining. You collapsed onto the floor where Dean scooped you into his arms.
“Hey, Y/N. Wake up. Stay with me. Shit.” He carried you to the car and gingerly set you down next to him. The drive back to your house felt long. When he got you inside he placed you on the couch and called Rowena.
“Is it done then?” she asked in her thick Scottish brogue.
“Yeah but your girl’s unconscious. She’s breathing but she used a lot of magic. A lot. I don’t think you’ll be calling on her anytime soon.”
“Keep her warm, Dean. I’ll be there soon.” The line went dead. He sat on the floor in front of you and brushed your hair from your eyes.
“Sweetheart, you need to wake up. We were supposed to grab that drink, remember?” He pressed his lips to your temple lingering there for a moment when he heard Rowena’s laugh trill behind him.
“I should add matchmaker to my long list of talents. Out of the way, Dean. I’ll get your girl fixed right up.” She patted his hand and pushed him aside.
His face flushes hot burning all the way to his ears. ”She’s not my girl.”
“Of course. Now, what seems to be the trouble, dear?” She placed her hands on your head. Her eyes glowed as she spoke over you. Your lashes began to flutter and you woke up. “There she is. Good as new.” You and Dean exchanged a look. “That appears to be my cue to go check on Samuel.”
“Thank you, Rowena.” your voice was hoarse barely above a whisper.
“Not at all, dear.”
Dean pulled you into his lap rocking you gently, “You scared the hell out of me, sweetheart.”
“I had to stop her. She hurt too many people.” You felt guilty for ending her but even guiltier for letting her go as far as she did. Guiltier still for not pushing harder to be in her life. “It was my fault.”
“Hey, no it wasn’t. What? You think you should have been a better big sister? You didn’t lead her down this path, Y/N.” You rested your head on his shoulder “All these years and all the stupid fucked up shit Sam and I did, I blamed myself. I took on that burden. Alone. It’s a lonely awful place to be. I’m begging don’t do that to yourself.” He held your face in his hands forcing you to look at him. He wanted to kiss you. You would have let him if he leaned in. Instead he brought you back down to his chest just to hold you. He saw so much of himself in you. You were headstrong and self righteous but your intentions were altruistic.
You melted into his arms so lost in him that you didn’t hear Sam and Rowena slip out. Dean offered his brother only a small nod to let him know you were ok. He had several texts from Eileen anyway. Happy to see his brother didn’t have to spend another night alone, he went back to the bunker.
You sat in silence for a while when you started yawning. “Shit. What time is it?”
“After midnight. I should get outta here.” You untangled yourself from his grasp but didn’t stand. His hands stayed respectfully at the small of your back. You locked eyes with him. Your core tingled as he brushed errant hair from your forehead.
“Or you could stay. We haven’t had our drink yet. Though, you don’t need to get me drunk, handsome.” You kissed his jaw and down his neck working your way to his collarbone. A soft moan escaped his lips when you nipped at his neck. “I mean you enjoyed me on my knees and all.”
“As pretty as you looked,” his voice was low and gravelly, “And, I mean you looked gorgeous. We really shouldn’t.”
You genuinely pouted your lips backing off of your ministrations, “Why not? I want to. And you clearly want to. You’re a fucking legend, Dean. Show me just how legendary you are.”
He arched a brow at you and smirked in the way that only Dean Winchester does. “Flattery will get you everywhere, sweetheart.” Finally his lips were on yours. The force of his kiss took your breath away. It wasn’t predatory or greedy. It was slow and sensuous bordering on hunger. His whole body was hungry for you. Dean Winchester was hungry constantly looking for something to fill the hole inside him. For the moment, that was you. He felt like he was floating and was suddenly very warm. If he stopped kissing you he knew he would just stop breathing. He couldn’t bare the thought.
“What are you doing to me?” His chest heaved. “I feel like I’m on fire.” Surely this must be a spell or enchantment. He pulled you back in for more but this time his hands strayed from your back. They traveled to your hips then under the hem of your shirt to feel your flesh warm against him. He had to feel you. To be inside of you. Deft fingers unbuttoned your jeans. Without breaking the kiss he stroked your clothed core working up a rhythm that flooded you with arousal.
“Touch me, Dean. Please” you cried. Pushing your panties aside his fingers explored your dripping pussy. His pace is maddening. Your hips snapped fucking back hard. “Fuck, Dean. So good. I need your cock. Want you to split ne open.”
“You’ve got a filthy mouth, Princess. Come for me and I’ll give you what you want.” And so you gushed around him moaning like a witch on fire. When your heart slowed to a normal rhythm you stripped naked. Before he could get undressed he took a moment to kiss and touch every inch of you. If this was only for tonight he wanted to savor you. “God you’re beautiful.”
“So are you.” You pulled him up and undressed him, never once breaking eye contact. His cock was red and weeping just aching to be touched.
On your knees in front of him you took the whole burning thing in your mouth. To Dean, you were the most stunning creature to exist. You swirled your tongue around the head while you hollowed your cheeks sucking him in deeper still.
“You’re doing so well, sweetheart. Fuck that feels good.” His hands grasped the back of your head keeping you steady while he fucked your face. It started feeling too good like he would blow his load in your mouth. He had to feel your sweet cunt. “Let me feel you, baby. Fuck I need you.” You pulled off with a pop and climed into his lap. Both of you whimpered when you sank onto his length. The stretch was exquisite. Your pussy held him so tight. You ground your clit over his pubic bone while he fucked into you with a brutal pace. “You feel so good. M’not gonna last. Come for me, baby. I need it.” Your twat fluttered around him, milking him for all he was worth. You kissed once more fighting to hang on to the last tendrils of tenderness and warmth that you could.
“Stay. Please. Just for tonight” you whispered.
He tightened his grip on you. “Of course, sweetheart. All night.”
He hated to leave you but the sun rose like a beacon calling him away. If he didn’t leave then, he wouldn’t have ever left. Last time he stuck around and fell in love, he had to learn the hard way that he could never have this. Maybe he would call you the next time he swung through town. Maybe you’d spit in his face for bailing. He brushed the hair off your forehead and kissed your temple. “Bye, sweetheart.”
You woke when you heard the Impala roaring to life in your driveway. He left a square of paper with a phone number scrawled in pencil “I’ll always answer. -DW” You put on your robe, went down to your cauldron and threw it in with a few bundles of sage and some witch hazel to sever any feelings. On the next full moon, you’d do a cord cutting to make sure it sticks.
“See you around, handsome.” In his eleven hour drive back to the bunker, any feelings that you have would slowly fade. The two of you would go back to being too afraid to feel and far too afraid to fall in love. Dean wouldn’t hear from you again. He wouldn’t really remember where you lived. But, every time he drove through Michigan, he’d feel a twinge in his chest. And, no matter how many rituals you did, you’d feel him too.

Calamitous Love
Paring: Dean Winchester x reader
Summary: Dean shows up at your house, but this is a calamitous love. Sooner or later, it's going to destroy.
A/N: I was based and inspired by so many things to get this ready, I can't even start pointing them here. This started as something and escalated to something else, and I'm immensely in love with how it is now. I'm posting a version of this through Dean's POV soon. The prompt is bolded and its for @tvdspngirl314's bday challenge! Hope you like it, honey! And happy bday.
Warnings: language, mentions of sex, fluff, angst, dean is a perv in a cute way, s1 dean Ily
Tumblr media
Dean Winchester could easily remember how mad you were that night, after he purposely came to your party uninvited and stood on the porch talking to all your stupid friends. How the one you called the best out of them had wide eyes when she caught him there, and all the reaction she could get was him winking at her.
The man - who was more like a boy, really - with green eyes that matched your garden knew she would run and rush and breathlessly tell you that he was there.
Of course she did. Inez was never one for keeping secrets. He used to wonder if it was a matter of time for the blonde to spread yours.
Her loose lips were useful that night, though. He couldn't even finish his chatter about Chevrolet versus Toyota cars with that James guy before you bursted out of the door ferociously. Dean turned around and waited for many things; well-deserved slapping, indignated tears, a sharp scream strident enough to suppress the loud song which vibrated through everyone's skin like veins.
You surprised him once again.
You closed your eyelashes and took a deep breath, as if to control the burning fire behind your thoughts. The Winchester had seen her in arguments before, the whole ‘my mouth is a loaded gun without a trigger’ thing held an entirely new meaning. He knew you wanted to come at him, and Dean wouldn’t put any guilty on you for that. As you walked towards him, his brittle heart raced like one of those chick flick moments he always mocked about - yet, he couldn't help but stare. Your legs looked so good in that light, pretty ass that Dean loved to grab wrapped in a tight red skirt. You had a white tank with cleavage on and your hair was, as usual, free on its widest way. The hunter adored how your brown sea could never seem not to be a mess, and how you made chaos marvelous like a natural. He surely needed that in his life.
Isn’t it all you had been since the very beginning, honestly? Isn’t it what love utterly is when the lights are dim and the weather changes? Cutting right to the bone like a surgeon, you were that one thing, that one hand that would touch Dean’s weary head and make it rest, those unique lips who could whisper tales of hope in the backseat of his car and he could actually believe it. The one, you know, that one person who didn’t make the eldest Winchester feel like he cared more than he was cared for. He often experienced that math problem, dad never seemed to be satisfied enough to be proud of him, and Sam was always talking about how he wanted to leave someday.
‘’Dean.’’ You said and your tone was harsh, a single eyebrow arched with a quiet defying question. The green eyed man wouldn't be shocked if you had called him out before when he was too busy paying attention to you to notice. ‘’Let's go to the garden.’’
And then you grabbed his wrist, sneaking in through the rusting garden gates in the back of your house. Such mere touch put his skin on flames. So many others, mostly monsters or people who were really monsters at heart, already chained his hands and he always broke the cuffs. This time, in your hands, Dean almost wished he could stay put, grounded to something else other than bloody walls and oily guns. He missed you so much. The way your fingers felt on his cheeks, how you'd allow him to kiss every inch of your body, and how you seemed to understand.
Anyway, it wasn't time for him to turn sentimental just yet. Leave it to Sam.
Dean’s boots were cruel against the grass, walking side by side with your high heels ones. Above all the partying noise, they both were quiet for once, as if they were going into a clandestine meeting.
He hated it.
‘’What the fuck are you doing here?’’ you turned around in a swift move before crossing your arms. It took a lot of self control not to glare at your breast, which is why Dean didn’t. He pictured it wasn’t that bed since he was only glancing for a few seconds and the malicious smirk on his face faded into him licking his bottom lip through the memories of fucking, grabbing and playing with them. You rolled your eyes, impressed by my immature behavior. ‘’Winchester, I asked what you are doing here.’’
Always so dominant in every situation but in bed. He sighed to himself, man, I can’t lose her.
‘’Listen, Y/N/N, I’m sorry.’’
‘’You are sorry? You can take your apologies and put them in your sorry ass till’ they come out of your mouth, Dean.’’ And, of course, stubborn. Dean Winchester wouldn't be so attracted to you in any other way. Frisky women always had the best him.
He groaned, ‘’Y/N, come on, it wasn't like that--’’
You interrupted his reasoning with a laugh empty of joy: ‘’You left me. You just walked away. No calls, no texts, just left. You promised you wouldn't. You said I could trust you.’’
‘’And you can!’’
He wasn’t able to blame you for that. Still, it broke him to hear every casual syllable in raw honesty. Dean would kill for you, and you didn’t even trust him because he ran away without any note, or previous warning, or anything. If only he could do the trick of just opening his mouth and allowing his emotions to come arrive, like Sam did all the time. All he tried to be, his little brother was simply born that way. He could never be like Sammy and you deserved a guy like him. Yet, the bruised man - more like a scared boy, really - remained in front of you. Because, for once, Dean wanted to act selfish and get it what he craved for. Just this once.
‘’To leave? Sure.’’ Nonetheless, you never learned how to read his mind, so you just aim a wry smile at him. ‘’Sorry, pal. I already have my mom to do that.’’
In that moment, every word you said was a stone designed to shatter him, and it was working fatefully. Sometimes, the green eyed hunter wished he was the one being left instead of leaving people behind. But how could you know that? It's the job side effect.
Taking a deep breath, your name is leaving his lips calmly. The most calm he had ever been since my three childhood years. ‘’Y/N…’’
‘’No, Dean.’’ You spoke. Because his forest eyes matched a lot with the grass in your garden under that dim light, almost like he was made to be there and you didn’t think you could do it again; lose him. It was too much.
‘’Dang, woman. I'm trying to explain!’’
‘’No, you are trying to come up with a stupid lie to cover up whatever you were doing for two weeks! I'm not stupid and I know you.’’ You accused, exasperatedly slapping your own tights. You were right, he had showed up to your party with a dumb excuse on his tongue, ready to tell you anything but the truth. Fuck, how the short haired hunter wanted you to have the imaginary money to buy one of his cheap lies. ‘’Tell me the truth. Don't come up with my dad needed help with a car and all that. What happened to you, Dean?’’
‘’I can't tell you.’’ He shrugged in frustration.
I want to tell you everything, even the details in the corner, the monster in the forest.
You smile sarcastically, ‘’I don't see a fold on your lips.’’
But I can’t.
Dean huffed, pursing his lips. ‘’You would hate me.’’
You would think I’m a crazy liar.
‘’I already do.’’
You can be so violent when hurt. You both have bullets in different body parts, and there you are trying to shoot him. Modern Romeo and Juliet, a hunter romance; they try to kill each other instead of the evil thing.
‘’Y/N, you are gonna think I'm crazy.’’ He wiped his face, exasperated for you to change the subject.
Your lips were shut, the light reflected on you. Dean was glaring at you in a quiet desire for you to stay, to make him stay. But you stand still, looking away with delicate woe contorting your features.
It was clear after a hunt when the hunter should leave the town. And it was clear now that he killed any hope for them that Dean shall do what he usually does after a case. Nodding with a sigh, started to walk away.
But you stopped him.
‘’What are you doing?’’ You, in fact, sounded confused. Dean’s eyebrows knitted together, unsure if you two were having the conversation he thought you were not even one minute ago.
The answer resonated more like a question than anything: ‘’Leaving?’’
Your next words were the equivalent to the three ones he had never dared to say. ‘’I don't want you to leave.’’
Yes, the Winchester’s heart was pouring as fast as it was when he went on his first hunt. Yes, he could hear an old rock song playing when you have that look on your face. Yes, he knew he was acting like Sammy and all his cheesy discourses right now.
Who cares?
Apart from all that, Dean offered you a cocky smile. ‘’What do you want, sweetheart?’’
‘’Kiss me.’’
And he did. You trusted him in the garden and he got you back. Dean kissed you in the porch in front of all your stupid friends, too. And then he kissed you again in my car under the streetlight and in so many other uncountable places.
He was the person who got left a few years after that. As if his sorrow had become the prey for some cosmic joke. Sammy left for Stanford and it made his dad, well, more dad than usual. The weird thing was, inside of the grief of being left, Dean understood what he did to you. He had a lot of blood in his hands, enough to turn an ocean red if he ever tried to clean them, but I knew that leaving you was the worst thing that I had ever done.
Well, at least that was what two bottles of Whiskey helped him to get to.
Dean guessed he got what you felt on your porch that night as well. When he walked in, you knew you'd forgive him but you needed to sting back. As Sam left, his older brother already knew he'd forgive him, too. Dean fought about it, and I felt betrayed- wounded animals still attack. But he had forgave him the moment he missed him.
You forgave Dean too, and nowadays he resented for that with an insufferable regret. Because then he told you the truth about the world and showed you his scars. He kissed you, and your lips found every ugly in him. Still, they kept asking him for more. Your lips were the bed for my monster to sleep under.
Real monsters found them.
A few years later, the trio was in a town. You had a vacation from college - you dated a hunter with 5 bucks to his name, and you were studying journalism in a conceited university. It made no sense to Dean sometimes. All you asked for was to spend your free time with him and a call each night to make sure he was alive, which he gave you happily. Besides finding a way to go near your city at least once a month, more for himself than anything else. How did he get so lucky?
You liked certain aspects of the hunter life, surprisingly. The driving away, the creatures, even the restaurants. ‘’Come on, you guys hunt monsters. How cool is that? Also just driving, eating in a new place everyday. Did I mention monsters are real? You guys are like heroes!’’
He shook his head at your optimism, stroking your naked form gently that night.‘’We aren't here, Y/N. This life, it ends early and bloody. There is no place for white fancies and normal.’’
‘’Who said that I want that?’’ You mocked right before pressing your lips to the hickey on his neck, gaining a content groan from Dean. ‘’You monsters. As far as I'm concerned, you are a hero. My hero.’’ You add a subtle joke. ‘’Like a fairytale.’’
He scoffed and pulled you closer. ‘’More like a horror movie.’’
‘’Haven’t you read fairytales?’’
‘’No, but I did see the porn version.’’ Done with talking, he got on top of you, wearing that lopsided grin that started it all over again.
Years back, he asked you what you wanted. And you said, kiss me.
You kept saying that for a decade. Growing that calamitous love, feeding it with stolen glances and touches. If you knew what’s next, would you do it again?
Now you are laying on the ground as he got on my knees and pulled you closer. You are almost dead, a half lifeless body, but you hold on so tight to life, gasping for it. His stubborn girl who he loved so.
Your voice, usually so determined, is barely a whimper. ‘’Everyone wants a fairytale love.’’
‘’What? Don’t get sentimental on me, Y/N. You aren’t gonna die.’’ Dean says exasperated. It isn’t blind faith, unrealistic optimism or anything like this. It’s denial, one of the stages of grief he’s familiar with. It lives with him, as loyal as a dog, as present as a long lost mother’s love; he ignores the acceptance and hope, jumping right into anger, guilt, denial, and bargains with the devil. As if death is a champagne problem he can just drink and be done with because hey, if you can’t lose something, then you won’t right? Right? And if you do lose it, then you’ll just die too. Someone loses oxygen, they die. Someone loses too much blood, they die.
He will die if he loses you, he will. Dean is devastatingly sure of that. He can feel it in his bones. If you die, he dies. His body, his cicatrized soul was made out of in woe. That man - scared little boy like he was when Mary died, really -, He knows sadness like an old lover who always visits, and death is an old friend who always shakes his hands and appears without an invite. Dean Winchester knows pain, alright? Ask any person, he’s the Rome for men, built in ruins despise the beauty of good.
But this? No. He can’t survive. It isn’t possible that someone can hold so much suffering and agony. Skin and bone can only take so many hematomas.
‘’Dean, shut up.’’ You place your hand on his cheek and Dean can’t help but lean in. His green eyes are glistening, the memory of the garden reminiscing in the back of your mind. ‘’I’ve wanted a fairytale love since I was a kid and my dad used to read the books my mom left on the shelf for me. So, in my defense, I never actually read them.’’
‘’Is this what a fairytale looks to you?’’ The eldest Winchester asks, not missing how your touch is colder against him. Where’s Sam with the car? Where’s a miracle? Where’s the justice and fair things and anything good? Dying in his arms, sinking her fingernails into his skin.
‘’The original ones, yes. They are just like that.’’ You chortle, but what’s meant to sound like happiness develops into a cough. All the energy and strength you have are used to push the words. You need Dean to know. ‘’I don't regret anything. You loved me, and I loved you. This is good. I don’t want your silly little mind to think any other way. You aren’t the villain in my story, Dean. You are the…’’ You’re interrupted by your own body giving up on you at an alarming rate, more bloodstained coughing.
‘’Don’t speak, honey. You’ll be alright, okay? No goodbye, we don’t do goodbye. You’ll be alright. Just keep yourself awake, ok?’’ Dean doesn’t know what to do other than hold you. What does one do with all the throbbing aches? He can’t say he will see you in heaven if you die. Staying with you for ten years was heaven already and this is the price he pays. That’s like when the ocean drains in a flash right in front of your eyes and someone tells you to swim in the sky instead. He can’t jump high enough to get it, he isn’t tall enough to get it. But God, Dean can’t just give up, he can’t just let you go. You are bleeding out and he’s dying with you. ‘’Please.’’ The Winchester pleas. ‘’Don’t leave me. Please.’’
If this is how you die and you can only pick up some words to say, you need to spell love. You need Dean Winchester to know he was loved with your last breath, there’s no better use to life other than love. Therefore, it’s easy to know what to voice when you look into his eyes one last time. ‘’I love you.’’
Through the agony, Dean gives you the sort of smile... You know, the sort of smile that can only be described by I put my home on fire, so I could eat all the flames and all the bright blaze is in my teeth now. Because something is burning and you are becoming ashes, but you love this. You love that boy and he loves you. You’d do it all again. He rests his forehead against yours and you can feel his tears on your face, his hands holding you for dear life.
‘’I love you too.’’
It’s a good thing to hear as you close your eyes.

Sam Fender x Reader / call me lover
Friends to lovers. Lots of fluff.
Plot: Y/N and Sam have been friends for as long as they can remember but growing up has led them to grow apart. There are many things they have to tell one another.
The thing with kids is that they grow up. Too quickly, with too much silence surrounding them.
Sam was a boy, Y/N was a girl but to one another, they were just friends. They had known each other for as long as they could recall and had not doubted one second that they were just friends. Of course, there were the subtle questions from their parents, the hesitation when Sam would spend the night at Y/N's but their parents too knew it was just friendship.
Although they agreed that with all the secrets and trust they shared, they would be the best of couples, they thought it to be too pure to be broken.
Their friends too believed that it would inevitably happen, that they would end up together. Of all people, Dru was the most persistent on the matter. He had known Y/N for a longer time than Sam since Y/N's mother was the doula and a close friend to Drew's. Therefore, the two of them considered each other as siblings.
He  liked to tease Sam to make him confess a crush he would have on Y/N. To no avail.
And then, there had been Y/N's first boyfriend when she was 15. At a time in his life when he was still playing Fifa in his room when he was not toying with his piano, he had to endure his best friend clung to her boyfriend's arm.
For the first time, he felt repulsed by the sight of Y/N but mostly by that of the Alex Turner wannabe her heart had fallen for. He began writing about love and deception though he had no reason to have known either.
Of course, the idyll was cut short with Alex Turner #2 coming back from summer camp without his virginity anymore, exploit he felt the need to share with the whole school.
Sam and Drew had come to Y/N's rescue the day at school and together, they had eaten pizza and waited for Y/N's tears to disappear. It was the world against them from now on, and nothing could change that.
Sam had worked his ass off to make Y/N proud and had done all he could for his A-levels. In spite of all the intensity and long hours of going over Horatio Nelson and the Boer War with Y/N, he gave up and started working in a pub. He was to be a musician, no matter what.
His fingers got crooked because of his guitar, his voice sore but at last, he was given a festival to play at. Drew would be there too of course.
As for Y/N, she had started working in an architect's office while studying at the local Uni.
Things got so fast. The kids grew and were soon overwhelmed with new responsibilities. Y/N had a new life for herself and Sam was about to tour before releasing his debut album. When he found out that a label had signed him up, the three friends along with Dean and Joe had screamed their lungs out.
It had come out of the blue that Joe fancied Y/N and it had also come out of the blue that Sam didn't like this turn of event.
The tour meant that they would not see each other for at least half a year as Sam's studio was in London. They had never been away from one another for so long so the day Sam left North Shields, it felt like the soil was crumbling under her feet.
Y/N informed herself of Sam's whereabouts through Dru as Sam didn't reply to her texts. Dru was regularly implying to his friend that he should call her every now and then, but he was always "too busy". Just like that, silent formed around them.
"Sam, call her", Dru begged one more time.
Sam sighed. He did not dare calling her, he felt as though he had let time rule his emotions. The more distance he put between them, the harder it was to think of something to say. Sure, he was busy but he always had been busy.
"You know what day it is today, don't you?"
Sam stared with round eyes at Dru.
"It's her bloody birthday, Sam. Just call her, okay?"
Dru had taken Sam's phone from his coat that was lying on the floor and forced Sam to take it.
Sam went to the room, right next to where he was and dialled Y/N's number, ending up on the voicemail "Hi! I hope that the voicemail just indicates that you're getting hammered somewhere and I also wish you a happy birthday. I'm sorry I didn't call earlier, I wish I could make it up to you. I miss you and I love you"
It was not until the message got sent that he realised what he had just said. Sam knew that opening up always led him to say too much and he couldn't take the risk to lose Y/N.
"What's wrong?" Dru asked when he saw Sam visibly agitated.
"I screwed up"
"You just had one call to make, how can you screw up a call?"
"I said something I shouldn't have. I told her that I loved her"
"As in I love you?"
"Yeah, I mean it's not something we say to each other"
"And do you? Love her?"
"Yes, Dru. I think I do. I think I always loved her"
"Well then, you haven't screwed up. You've just made things easier"
Days went by without a word from Y/N and Sam to pass time was playing with his phone a couple of times a day, not knowing what or if he should write to her. But then it got worrying, he feard that something had happened to her.
"D'you have news of Y/N?", he confronted Dru one night.
"She didn't say that she loves you back, huh?"
"She hasn't said anything at all, in fact. Is she alright?"
"That's odd. Yeah, she's fine, I just got a text from her, not even ten minutes ago. I can ask her to reach out for you if you want"
Dru is a magician as not only five minutes later, Sam's phone buzzed.
Y/N: Dru said you called on my birthday. My phone was off, you should have left a message... Sam: I did! You didn't listen to it? Y/N: I didn't get anything... Sam: Can I call you now? Y/N: No, not tonight. I'll call you tomorrow morning, good? Sam: Yes :)
Sam was not a morning person but he woke up as early as he could. He waited and finally she called. On FaceTime. She looked radiant, unlike him who severely lacked of sleep.
"Hey!"
Bring the tone down, Fender, Sam thought. You're gonna freak her out.
"Hi, sorry I couldn't call you yesterday. It's good to see you"
Just like that, one moving still of Sam was enough to have her mood lit up.
"So, can't make a voicemail work, huh?" Y/N joked around.
"I promise you, it worked. I don't know what happened but it's good I get to tell you like that"
"Tell me what?"
"Well, first that I'm sorry I've been an idiot lately. It's just that I've missed you so much and I wanted to see you and I couldn't stop thinking of you all the time"
An unfamiliar noise of a plate falling.
"Garlic's going on an adventure?" Sam referred to Y/N's cat that was known to be the clumsiest cat on Earth and that Sam had helped naming six years prior.
The distraction was much needed as Sam was blushing and it started showing on camera.
"Let me just go somewhere quieter"
As Y/N left her living room for her bedroom, Sam saw the silhouette of a man trying to assemble the splinters the plate had left behind.
"Sorry for that. What were you saying?"
"Nothing. I'm just sorry I didn't call you earlier and I hoped that you had a great birthday..."
"You sure there was nothing else"
"Yeah, yeah I'm sure"
The two of them chatted for another 5 minutes when the conversatio became awkward.
Y/N was certain when she hung up that Sam was about to reveal his feelings. And she would have let him. In fact, she would have revealed hers as well.
But Dan had to be in the way. Or was it Ian? Stan? Y/N had always done this. When she was thinking of Sam too much, she was collecting men to share the night with.
She never got attached to anybody but liked to wake up by a man's side.
A few weeks later, Dru called Y/N with good news.
"We've got some rest from the tour. We'll be at Shields for a month or so. I cannot wait to see you again, little sister!"
Y/N had set her mind to meet them at the train station from where she would get in the tour bus with them. Since Sam's aborted declaration, Y/N had not gotten any news from him and was not taking any.
When the van arrived and its doors opened, Dru ran to Y/N and hugged her "Ah, come here, you!"
There was a new face amongst the original team.
"Hi, I'm Lisa" the stranger introduced herself. By gazing that her hand was in Sam's, Y/N took a wild guess that the two of them were a thing.
"Nice to finally meet you. You're the 5th Beatle or so it seems. The boys could not shut up about you"
Y/N grinned at Dru and fainted a smile towards Sam. Unfortunately, she couldn't say as much for Lisa and blamed Dru to have kept it a secret.
Lisa was gorgeous, it was undeniable. Her posh accent had made the journey with her and contrasted with hers and the boys'. As long as Sam is happy, I'm happy, Y/N tried to convince herself as she got in the van.
"So, pub?" Dru asked. It was not even 5 pm but the idea seemed to everyone's taste.
"I'll join you later if that's alright. Joe, can you drop me off? I've got a few things to do before I join"
"You alright?" Dru whispered at her as he was seated next to her in the back of the van.
"Yeah, I'm fine" but as she answered, she stared a little too long at Lisa and her brown curls, her tanned skin and her perfect Julia Roberts smile.
"It's Lisa, huh? I don't like her either. Too posh for Sammy"
"I've never said I didn't like her"
"Then what?" Dru hesitated and then exclaimed "Oh!"
As he had nearly shouted, all of the boys and Lisa turned around to laugh at his looks of bewilderment.
Dru shushed himself down as his friends took the piss at him "Finally got the epiphany that you're ugly, Michael?" Dean mocked him.
As Dru brushed the joke and everything went back to normal, he went on with his whispering "You fancy Sam?"
Y/N simply nodded which got Dru leaning back in his seat, stirred by the confession.
"There, you go, princess" Joe stated as he had parked right in front of Y/N's flat.
They all greeted Y/N goodbye and agreed that they would see each other at 7. Sam did not dare looking at her in the eye. He knew he should have said something about Lisa but he had not come around it, why would he since she had her own life now?
As she opened the door, Y/N started tearing up a little, stunned by all the events. She seized her phone and sent a text.
By 6.15, the intercom rang. Y/N had changed into a wrap dress made of sequins and black heels.
"Hey!", she exclaimed to the man who was waiting by the door. This one was Chris, a chap she had seen some days prior. He reminded her of Alfred Enoch somehow with his chiseled jaw and round cheeks. Y/N didn't feel like being alone tonight and Chris was good company.
"Y/N, here!" Joe informed as he was in charge of getting a new round of drinks "By the table over there. Oh hi" he said to the stranger "I'm Joe"
Chris was by far the best-dressed man there as, clearly not familiar to pubs, he was wearing an open white shirt over brown chinos.
Dru and Tom made some space for Y/N and Chris to sit once Y/N had introduced everyone to her date.
The conversation was very much alive by 8 except for the fact that Lisa and Chris felt left out as it was all about childhood memories and family-related topics.
Sam was all eyes for Y/N. It was as though nothing awkward had ever happened between them and as though they were kids all over again.
In an effort to include Chris in the night's ambiance, Y/N asked him to dance with her. She hoped by that that she could get a reaction from Sam as dancing was THEIR thing.
At her birthday parties, they were always the two ones inventing silly dance moves on cheap Eurodance. As teens, they would always wiggle at gigs while the rest of the audience would look at them tenderly.
"I should get going. I've got a meeting in the morning" Chris let Y/N know as a song by Marvin Gaye ended. It was only 10 pm but Y/N didn't hold him back.
"C'mon, Sam. Invite her to dance, you're dreaming of it" Lisa rushed him. "She's your best friend after all"
What if he didn't want to be her best friend anymore?
Sam got up and joined Y/N. Tonight, he would tell her the truth. Not tomorrow, tonight.
"May I accompany you?"
"Yes, you may. Lisa's not into dancing?"
"I don't know but I'm into dancing with you"
"He's in love with her, isn't he?" Lisa asked Dru who had just ordered more drinks.
"Yeah, I think he is.. I'm sorry"
"Don't be, it's no big deal. Sam and I were just fooling around anyway. She's sweet, just what he needs"
"They just have to admit it now"
"So, Chris.. You two are together for long?" Sam asked.
"No, I mean technically we're not together. We've met twice with tonight"
"He seems nice"
"Yeah, I suppose. You and Lisa?"
"About the same: couple of weeks, nothing too serious"
"What did you mean to tell me last time?"
"Last time?"
"Yeah, you were saying that you missed me and all"
"Well, yeah. Touring without you sucked. I've missed you every fucking day. I want to be with you all the time. It's always been like that me and you"
"I missed you too, Sam"
The song had changed.
"What I'm about to say could ruin what we have but I just have to say it: I've always loved you, Y/N. It took me a whole ass tour to realise that. It's what I told you on the voicemail"
"I love you too, you idiot!"
Dru admired Lisa's ability to remain amicable even when she understood that Sam and Y/N had just confessed their feelings. He had judged her badly and saw what Sam had seen in her: a genuine goodness.
Sam was eager to kiss Y/N but had to make sure that Lisa was alright. He wanted more than anything else in the world Y/N and him to be together but he couldn't do it like that.
He turned around to Lisa only to see her kissing Dru. Sam shook his head and turned back on Y/N who was laughing at this sudden act of PDA.
Sam laughed along and then joined his lips to Y/N's.

“Dean! Sam! I’m home,” I yelled when entering the bunker.
Walking down the steps from the door I saw that they around the table in the library. Dead sitting there drinking a beer and Sam looking down at something in his hands, I spoke again, “ Is that it? The thing that is gonna save Dean.”
“Yeah,” Sam said looking at me then over to Dean, “Are you sure you don’t want to call Mom or wait for Cas?”
Dead stood up,” No. If this mojo works like you say, that’s great. But if not...why get their hopes up? I mean you and Y/n being here is fine, I just don’t wan’t you getting your hopes up either.” Dead looked at me then back at Sam, I nodded at him for an okay.
“Yeah.” Sam whispered, “Just hold the pearl and concentrate on what your heart desires.”
Dean was handed the pearl, “Michael outta my head. Got it.” Picking up the pearl he looks at me for assurance.
“It’s gonna be fine baby, if it doesn’t work then we’ll figure something else out,” I nodded at him again.
He looked down at the pearl and closed him eyes shut, and squeezed the pearl in his hand. The electricity crackled, and Sam and I looked at each other as Dean eyes open again. The lights in the bunker turned red, “What the hell?” I spoke quietly. As Sam turned around he saw a dark figure and he lunged at it, me following behind him. The figure punched Sam and I attacked from behind along with Dean, we got a couple of hits in before the mysterious person knocked us to the ground. I groaned, hitting the wood floor but I got over it soon as I heard a gun cock.
“Don’t you move,” the dark figure threatened.
We all looked at each other then the lights turned back on, we looked up at the man before us. I saw Deans eyes widened and I took a sharp intake of breath, same as Sam.
“Dad?” Dean asked in question.
“John?” I whispered.
The older Winchester looked in question at the three of us on the floor. He finally spoke up,” Dean? Sam? What in the hell? Y/n?” He looked around himself, puzzled at what he found. Sam and Dean slowly got up, Dean helping me up too.
John continued to speak,”Sammy. Aren’t you supposed to be in Palo Alto?”
“Palo Alto?” Sammy repeated, looking taken aback by the words.
“What happened to you,” John questioned.
Dean and I still staring at the exchange, Dean finally spoke up,” What year is it?”
John scoffs at us,” Its 2003.” I took a tiny step toward him, the man who raised me. “John, it’s 2019,” I spoke in shock.  He looked skeptical at all of us, not believing the words that were just said.
“No. How?”
Sam started to sound a little louder, finally finding his voice,” We, uh, I think we summoned you.”
He looked at us like we were crazy,” You guys better tell me what the hell is going on right now.” We nodded at him, actually moving at this point.
“I think we should sit down.” I looked at him.
-
We had made our way to the kitchen and sat down at the table, finally able to catch our breaths after what just happened. Dean and I grabbing some alcohol knowing it would be needed for the future conversation. I knew in the back of my head that Mary was gonna come home soon, and it would be an emotional mess. She had left earlier with Dean and I’s son, wanting to have a day with him.
Dean and I made our way into the kitchen setting down the whiskey and some glasses. Finally sitting down, Dean poured all of us a glass getting ready to talk.
After telling John about what happened after Yellow-Eyes, sparing the details about Mary and our son. He sat back to take it in, a moment later he spoke,” So, you saved the world? More than once?”
We nodded.
“Then its all true. God, the Devil, and you kids smack in the middle. Now you live in a secret bunker with an angel and Lucifer’s kid.” John said, mind boggled.
“Yeah.” We all spoke together.
“And you’ve done this whole time travel thing before?” John asked.
“A few times,” I looked at him. Dean nodded to my words, finding words himself,” Actually, our grandfather, your dad he’s the one that helped us find this place. I think he’d be real happy to know your finally here.”
They started to talk about the Men of Letters and how Dean and Sam were legacies. John not being able to believe how much we have been through, he spoke” I just wish that I had been there to see it. I went out takin’ out Yellow Eyes. I mean, that was the point, right? Get the thing that killed Mom.” He sipped on his drink nodding. All of us looking at each other, Sam and Dean finally catching on to the fact Mary could be home any minute. Just as Sam was going to tell John, we heard two pairs of footsteps.
“ Mommy!” I heard a tiny voice yell. I then saw my sons little face peak out and run towards Dean and I.
“Hey baby! Did you have fun?” I smiled at the small child in my arms.
“Yeah, me and Nana went shopping,” He spoke back to me.
John looked between me and the 4 year old in my arms. He spoke lowly,” Mommy? You have a kid?”
“Yeah, he’s your grandson.” I heard my boyfriend spoke from beside me.
John got teary eyed, “What’s his name? How old is he?”
“His names John Robert Winchester, after you and Bobby. But we do call him Johnny from time to time. Why don’t you show your Papa how old you are?” I asked with tears starting to grow in my eyes too.
Johnny lifted up his fingers showing the number four. I laughed and so did John,” That’s good.”
John smiled at his grandson, but it faltered when he heard a second voice coming from the hallway.
“Sam? Dean? Johnny?” Mary’s voice shouted.
Johns eyes got soft,”Mary?” He turned around at saw Mary standing in the doorway. They locked eyes with each other and they walked toward one another, sharing a kiss. I looked at Sam and Dean nodding at the door, trying to say we should give them some time.
-
I departed from the boys so I could go into mine and Deans room with Johnny. I still couldn’t believe that John was back and how happy Dean must be. It was all he ever wanted, I couldn’t count how many times he told me he wished he could just have one night with his family again. I looked down at Johnny in my arms and smiled.
“Mommy, who was that man with Nana?” he asked me.
I set him down on the bed and sat in front of him.,” That was your grandpa John. I told you that you were named after your Papa, right?” Johnny nodded at me. “Well that was him. Him and Nana are like me and your Daddy.” I spoke to him.
Dead then walked into the room locking eyes with me. “Hey buddy,” Dean spoke softly to his son. Johnny looked at me and then at his Dad, “Is Papa John here to meet me Daddy?”
Dean looked at Johnny and smiled, kneeling down beside me he said,” Your grandfather travels all over the world and is very busy. He has always wanted to meet you, and now he finally is able to see you.”
Johnny smiled,” Can I go see him?” Dean and I nodded at the happy child sitting in front of us. Dean stood up and told me that he was gonna go check up on his Mom, and that I could bring Johnny to John.
I walked through the hallways into the Library and saw that John was looking at the books on the shelves. I set Johnny down, and at the noise John turned around. I looked at him in the eye and smiled, Johnny walked over to his grandpa. “Mommy told me that I was named after you,” Johnny spoke up to John. He nodded to his grandson,”Seems that way doesn’t it.”
I walked up to John and said to him,” He is just like Dean in so many ways and with that I can see some of you too. Mostly the stubbornness. ” He smiled at me, and brought me into a hug. I grinned wrapping my arms around him, I heard him say,” It was about damn time you and Dean got together.” I laughed and pulled myself away from him.
“Yeah, I think after what happened with Yellow Eyes it brought us closer together. He tried to pull himself away like he always does but I wouldn’t let him, and I think that’s what caused us to get together.” I sighed but continued on,” We were dating 8 years and then had Johnny, it still blows my mind four years later and we are still going strong.” John smiled at me.
He looked down at Johnny but still spoke to me,” After 12 years and he still hasn’t popped the question. God, I’m gonna need to get on him about that.” I laughed at him. John looked down at Johnny and spoke to him,” You have the best mother and father in the world. Don’t you forget that.”
Johnny nodded his head,” I know. They always tell me you are the best like Nana.” John looked at me and smiled.
“No, your Nana is better than me in every way.” John laughed at the little boy, me laughing along with him.
I looked over at John,” Do you know where Sam went?”
“Him and Dean were gonna head out and grab some stuff for that casserole Mary likes to make,” he responded.
I nodded.
I bent down toward Johnny and spoke lightly, “How about you and Papa John go and hang out for a while.”
Johnny smiled wide,” Okay!”
He grabbed his grandfather by the hand and led him away. I smiled softly at the image now burned in my brain.
-
“I can’t believe this, we just got him back Dean.” I spoke sternly. “Johnny finally met his grandfather.”
Dean had pulled me aside when him and Sam got back explaining how everything is changing now that John was back.
“I know. But there is something else too,” He looked down at his feet. I looked at him sternly.
“What else?” I asked.
Dean took in a sharp breath before continuing on,” If he stays, it is gonna be like Mom was never here. It’s because we would have never clashed heads with God or the Darkness.” I got teary eyed and tried to say something but Dean held up his hand. He began to speak again,” Also, if he stays Sam thinks that Johnny’s gonna go too. Like you and I never got together because we only ever got together because of Dads death. I already talked to Dad about it.”
I started to silently cry thinking about not having Johnny and not being with Dean. As the tears were falling down my face I asked,” What did John say?”
He pulled me to his chest,”He said that he’s okay with going. That there is no way he is gonna be the reason his grandson can’t grow up, or Mom not being alive again.”
I looked up at him crying harder now, seeing he starting to shed tears too.
“This sucks,” I said.
“I know, but it’s what he wants.” Dean responded.
I leaned forward and pecked him on the lips then nodded, “Okay.”
Dean then pecked mine back before saying, “ I love you so much.”
“I love you too.”
-
We had sat down for dinner, something I knew Dean had always wanted. It was hard to avoid the inevitable but it was good to just be carefree for a while.
When it was time for John to go back, I had Johnny say goodbye before telling him to go to his room. Me and Dean still not wanting him to be exposed to magic yet.
Dean, Sam, John, Mary and I all stood in a circle together, ready to see him off. All of us teary eyed and trying to hold in sobs.
Mary was the first to speak up, “I hate this.”
In which John responded, “So do I.”
John then began to talk to all of us,” Okay.” Looking over at Mary he spoke,”My girl. I miss you so damn much.” Before they kissed each other, for the last time. John then looked at the boys,” You two. You take care of each other.”
Sam responded,” We always do.”
Dean spoke lightly, “It’s good to see you Dad.”
John sniffled, looking between his sons, “ I am so proud of you boys.” He then turned to me, seeing me there crying.
“And you, I am so proud of the woman you have become. Your no longer that little teenager anymore.” he spoke wiping his eyes before looking between Dean and I.
“You guys deserve each other and that little boy in there. I never thought I would see the day where Dean would grow some balls and ask you out but, here we are,” he said as we all laughed. “You guys take care of that boy, you here me,” John continued.
He then looked sternly at Dean,” If I have to come back just to make sure you finally ask this woman to marry you, I will.”
We all laughed again. John then leaned forward and brought the three of us into a hug.
“I love you guys so much.”
Dean sniffled before saying,”We love you too.”
John pulled away telling us he was ready.  He looked at us all one last time, before Sam broke the pearl. We watched as the man we all loved faded away.
