Sometimes I think about how the only thing about adulthood that's different from childhood is how much I want to protect children.

I see a "funny" screenshot about being a teenager working at cracker barrel and their job is to enforce the mask mandate and all I can think is, who put them in that position??

A friend tells me a story about a 12 year old girl who was reffing a children's soccer game and stuck dealing with irate parents and all I can think is: who put her in that position??

I try to watch media where children are the protagonists and all I can think is, where are your adults?? Why are they letting you do this?? Who gives a fuck if you're the "chosen one", I will happily fight this tyrant ahead of you, because you are literally 12 years old.

I play a roleplaying game where we are all supposed to be children. I try to bring an adult into the situation, I buy snacks before we leave on the adventure, I try to get everyone to eat dinner before we leave, I ask if waiting will be safer, I protect the youngest member of our group

At times you didn't know if you were fighting crime, or fighting to keep your sanity together. Miguel was for sure a difficult person to deal when he got into stubborn mode.

You were stuck in this limbo where your patience could only last for so long, even though your relationship with him wasn't falling apart completely, and there were little moments that actually made you stay, there were moments like this that made you wonder if sticking around him this far was a good idea.

"Don't."

You warned before sighing and shaking your head. You knew where this was going. He was getting frustrated over the fact that a teenager, an anomaly itself, as he liked to call the boy, had escaped his grasp.

It wasn't something you liked to discuss since you found each other's triggers, and you both exploited them with a temporary guilt-free anger, only to patch each other up, with little service acts that had drawn each other into your current relationship.

"Don't what?" He prodded with a sharp tone. He wasn't having a good day, and of course, the fact you were the only one that would actually stand him and his verbal retaliation, made you the perfect subject of 'With what are we hurting each other today?'

You didn't like the game but it was impossible for you to remain shut, whenever you felt things started to get personal. Like exposing each other's terrible traits.

"I'm not doing this today, Miguel."

"All I asked you was to know your input."

"You already damn know it."

"Miles needs to be stopped. We don't know how this will affect-"

"The canon. Yes. The fucking canon." you couldn't help but hiss in anger. A signal that you were done of hearing it.

"We have a day off, once in like, forever. And we are holed up here, trying to come up with ways to stop him. Fucking romantic" Your anger this time was justified or so you wanted to think. It was a rare occasion when he actually decided to take a break, and you both had decided to spend it as normal as you could.

Meaning, you both at home, away from the HQ, away from all the mess. Instead, you were in the lab with him. Again.

"We found a possible lead on where he might be. Can't miss a chance like this." His end of the floating bay was full of screens, cramming up with data and other information. Lyla had been long gone ever since the first hostility signal  was shot. You wished to be her for a minute.

"A bit of normalcy is all I'm asking. Is it that hard to get it?"

"We're not normal people."

"But we're still people nonetheless. You are obsessed with that boy."

"A threat to everything I have worked for!" His voice raised and it tugged rougher at your simmering hurt seams.

"I? You think only you had sacrificed shit to get where WE are?" even though raising your voice wasn't an habit you had, your patience had dictated it was enough.

"Look at our team, Miguel. It's divided because you're too stubborn to actually-"

"To actually what? Give a fuck for what might happen to all of us?"

"You hurted Miles!"

"I did not" He hissed while pointing an accusatory finger at you. "If I had actually done that I wouldn't be in this fucking mess trying to fix it, (Name)"

His breathings turned more agitated, as your voice trembled with anger. You were definitely baiting into his game.

"He is a kid, Miguel. A fucking fifteen year old that is barely hanging cause he is already taking grown ass people desicions. He's doing what he think it's right!"

"Im. Not. Risking it." each word felt more venomous than the other as they left his lips.

"What if it was your daughter trying to save you? "

But of course you had the annoying ability to turn it around in the worst way possible.

His eyes flashed red and his neck almost snapped by how quickly it turned to face you.

"No te atrevas..." (Don't you dare)

"Would you chase her down, and hurt her like you did with Miles?"

"CÁLLATE!" (Shut up)

he roared as his fangs and talons immediately poked out, his frame towering on you. And for the first time in forever, you were afraid of him. Silence crashed the emotional crescendo. He sighed, you followed but none of you were humble enough to speak.

You were in your bedroom, removing the traces of dried tears from your face. You had gone home first, the need of fleeing the suffocating space you shared with Miguel was too fresh on your mind that the sheer thought of you going back, made you uncomfortable in a way you couldn't describe.

But there he was, stepping out the window, and removing his mask to then drop some plastic wraps of food on the dining table. A familiar scent egging you, or at least attempted to lure you out of the room. A failed first attempt on its own.

"Food's on the table." he mumbled from the doorframe as you put on a bit of moisturizer, "It's your favorite." Silence.

His brow pinched with a slight simmer of frustration.

Too soon.

He gave you space, and slept in the couch.

Four days of pure silence, four days devoid of your acknowledgement, your voice, your touch, your acts of services like bringing him coffee in the morning, a little empanada in exchange for a kiss. Your presence.

You were not one to remain quiet, but the sudden, almost immediate change towards him, made him anxious to a certain degree. Despite you being in the same working station, you felt miles away. You didn't fear detachment, something you had once told him, but never believed, until now.

"(Name)" His voice called, first time, you ignored. He sighed and approached. Hearing his advancing footsteps only made your skin crawl and tears blur up to your eyes.

"I think we... should need a break from each other." your voice had stopped him dead in his tracks. His mouth tasted sour suddenly

"I've been thinking and it's the only rational approach for all of this... mess."

Heart pounded hard against his ribcage. His mouth gaped softly, but no words came out of it. His eyes darted to your hunched form. You looked tired, emotionally burnt out and almost... broken. It felt like a cold knife piercing through upon realization. He had pushed you too far.

" All we do is fight, and hurt each other. Im... Im tired of that. Work has turned in your main priority and..." you trailed off, tears menacing your eyes

"It has stopped being good. Good for us. I can't..." His eyes softened and his breath hitched, "I can't do this anymore, Miguel."

He had imagined such words coming from your mouth in many occasions but finally hearing them, were equally destroying. His heart beat faster

"I'm sorry" even though weak, an honest apology. You shook your head

"Sorry doesn't always fix it. Not this time I'm afraid."

His chest heaved as he approached you carefully. His hand reached for yours and tears finally rolled down your cheeks.

"It's not healthy."

"I know."

"We can't do this anymore."

"I don't want you to go" He mumbled. His hands reaching for you, you were still there in the flesh.

"We'll only end up hurting each other again." He shook his head as you voice broke.

Was this another canon event he wasn't aware of? You were slipping away through his fingers despite having you within his embrace, cradling you.

"I need to go"

Stay

His mind chanted despite his limbs loosening around you. Freeing you. His eyes settled on you and the relieved sigh you gave as he granted a much needed space.

His eyes locked into yours, there was no need to speak. A mutual understanding between you. You offered a small pat on his bicep, almost reassuring, hopeful. You left him be.

You'd be back. When you felt ready for it.

•You looked at him somewhat agitated and surprised, you honestly didn't think he was going to pay attention to you so you limited yourself to lowering your gaze and fiddling with your fingers uneasily. "Uhm, well, there are these kids at school that always bother me and I was wondering if you could teach them a lesson, you know? Something like bullying them and telling them to mind their own business." You said with a sigh and quickly added, "B-but don't hit them! Please, I don't want to get into trouble!" He looked at you bewildered before smiling in disbelief. "Are you kidding me? You think I'm their fucking mother to go and give them a verbal lesson on what they should and shouldn't do? I'll finish it faster with my fists, I assure you," he said, letting out a nasal laugh with an air of slight arrogance and rolling his eyes. You looked at him with a hopeful smile. "So you're going to do it?" You said excitedly. He looked at you without a hint of grace and returned to his rude attitude "Just to make sure you don't say shit, don't even think that we are friends" he spoke irritated before turning around and walking with his hands in the pockets of his jeans as you hurriedly followed him and gave him the details about who those boys were, the next day after class you were calmly getting ready to go home but the sound of bustle and encouragement of students in a circle towards something or someone caught your attention, you frowned in displeasure, it was a fight between one boy against three more, you were going to turn around until you recognized the blonde hair of the boy who was in the fight and seemed to have the advantage between the other three boys who were now on the ground, their noses bleeding "Vance, Vance!" -some students shouted in unison, that only confirmed your suspicion and you hurried to get to that scene, the fight had already ended with Vance as the winner and the other three boys unconscious on the ground, as the round of students began to dissolve you could see how Vance put his backpack on one shoulder and walked away from the place, you ran towards him and pulled him by the arm to a corner behind the school where they couldn't see them "What the fuck!- Ah, it's you" he said without surprise and I put that irritating expression of indifference on his face while his hands went to the back pockets of his jeans and he watched you from above calmly, his calm only disturbed and irritated you more, as if the fact that minutes before he had given those boys the beating of their lives, yes, they were your bullies, but he hadn't kept his part of the deal yet! You looked at him annoyed "You! Ugh! I told you not to hit them, you brute!" You raised your voice angrily, pushing his chest with your hand gently and moving him even a little, he quickly stopped your wrists in his hands, lowered his head towards you and spoke in an intimidating tone that sent chills down your spine "You wanted them to stop didn't you? Well there you go, they won't get close to you again okay? For God's sake, you have to make people respect you, not give grandma lectures" he said abruptly releasing your wrists roughly but without hurting you, you were going to say something else however your attention was directed to your hands and wrists which were stained with blood, you frowned in confusion and then you saw Vance's knuckles which were open and dripping blood.

Your knuckles!" you said with concern bringing your hands closer to his almost as a reflex to get a good look at his wounds, he must have gotten them from hitting those boys, maybe his teeth cut his skin…, you felt bad and he felt his heart flutter a little, he abruptly pulled his hands away from yours with a frown trying to act impenetrable “I'm fine, it's nothing” he said stubbornly trying to downplay the sharp pain his knuckles were sending throughout his arm “no you're not, wait-” you said with concern and opened your backpack to take out some first aid supplies you had taken from the nurses' station when you were going to help your mother at work, you cleaned the blood off his knuckles and bandaged them carefully and delicately, one that Vance had lost the luxury of enjoying, at least until now, you promised to heal them better after they got to your house and so it was, you kept your word and let's say he kept his but that doesn’t matter anymore because right now you’re wondering why you’re lost in those blue wounds. orbs located on his face or why you remember every golden curl of his wild mane, you just know that he started kicking the ass of everyone who wants to mess with you (even if you haven’t asked him to) and you’ll rush to heal his bloody knuckles after he finishes his job. Sometimes you can see how the other students notice the unusual closeness that someone like Vance and you have developed these past few months, but what does it matter? You’re both fine with whatever you have so fuck the rest of them, fuck ‘em all, fuck ‘em all but us.

Being annoying about each option under the cut

1- Ryunosuke has no other pictures of his bestie's face except for the one of his 'corpse' and that is Fucked Up, which is why I love it. this hc is based on the fact that during my playthrough I looked at the picture so many times bc I missed him immediately. Anyway 1-2 was the worst day of his life and the moment where he was given the photo for the first time really stuck with me.

2- They get to switch off being each other's judicial assistants and they both get to be different flavors of transmasc, I think it would be fun for them. Would they have to attend classes at Yumei to even be considered lawyers? who knows the point is they do it together and are like those cats that bond together and get sad when they get separated.

3- If they are in the same room together that sword is being switched back and forth several times, 'I think it matches your outfit today' or 'I'm on my period I shouldn't be in possession of a deadly weapon' or 'you said in the custody agreement that I get it on weekends' etc etc etc... Though it tends to go with Ryunosuke when they are separated for long periods of time. That sword is symbolic of so much gay shit in these games what's a little more.

4- my guy talks about 'the look' in Ryunosukes eyes so much during the last case, what are you looking into his eyes for? Heterosexual reasons? sure... (also 'fancy meeting you here' that is a pick-up line, you're in a prison, not a bar) Anyway his feelings towards Ryunosuke are complicated and he's so mad that at least one of the feelings in the emotional cocktail is something like attraction)

5- There's that disaster lesbian thing going on but also the situation was pretty stressful but one day she will wake up and it will hit her that her friend was still very interested in her even after she knew it was her in the disguise.

6- Sholmes keeps trying to refer to himself as 'the root of all evil' and how he's 'drawn to the darkness', he's trying so hard to be edgy but he's a six-foot-tall lanky blond man who is dramatic in the silly way and drapes himself over Ryunosuke at every opportunity. Either he's trying to build some kind of reputation or he wants to appeal to the local goth milf populace (Sithe and Tusspells) or even the reaper himself (there's some messy ex energy going on over there...)

7- I need Phoenix to inherit Karuma, he knows a bit about it but he doesn't make a big deal about it. He does have a few prosecutor friends who know the blade and are so annoyed that he's not super proud to own it. Also it's funny to me if the only family that Phoenix knows are a couple of victorian lawyers that haunt him. I think they should watch over him and be a little horrified. Ryunosuke was excited when he was intending to be a performing arts student as a fellow drama kid but it doesn't surprise him that he chose to become a lawyer. It's in his blood.

8- You cannot tell me Ryunosuke didn't want to fling himself off of that boat every night he was stuck in the room he thought Kazuma was killed in. He just didn't want to ruin Susatos trip to England by leaving her alone and he goes into a depression when she leaves for Japan, going so far as to avoid looking at the photo the 221b fam took before she left because it made him sad, which gets put up every time by Sholmes who Gets It. Meaning that he went up to the Naruhodo consulting agency regularly to check up on him. I like to think Sholmes was genuinely worried during the months he spent banned from the courtroom and without his weirdgirl who he bonded with through his best friends 'death'.

9- Wagahai is a good kitty, she can tell who the most depressed person in the building is and follows them around, sometimes Ryunosuke has a nightmare and wakes up with a cat right up by his face.

10- Ryunosuke starts the Naruhodo family tradition of not talking about their personal lives to people they care about and making their own little patchwork family for themselves. Practically all we know about his past is that he's afraid of doctors and studied English from a young age. And then like three months after going to a new country and meeting new people he's just like 'neat this is my family now :)' there is something going on there I swear. I have many conflicting ideas about what it could be specifically though.

i think the thing that bugs me most about The Clevencourse, which mostly only exists in my mind when i'm trying to write shit, is... he should be my favorite. stoic, snarky under the stoicism, has a violent streak he keeps very tightly under control because he's terrified of what it would make him, ridiculously repressed romantically/sexually, COMPLETE control freak, sharp as a tack and in a Numbers way specifically, not great with people on a one-to-one basis but understands how groups work and that it's important to know the people you interact with, shorter/smaller than the guy he doms the fuck out of. i should be ALL OVER HIM.

but the narrative doesn't actually give him opportunities to let out that violent streak, it doesn't put his internal tension on display, everyone around him fawns over him CONSTANTLY and he never seems uncomfortable with it but doesn't really do anything with it either. and then the fan reaction to him [on here, i'm not gonna get into the reddit crowd's Wrong Takes because they're just as annoying to me but in a different direction] is either "perfect woobie who can do no wrong and needs to be protected" or "complete and utter freak who outpaces everyone ever for kink and violence and callousness"

and like. neither of those move me. neither of those feel true to me. i am absolutely fucking CAPTIVATED by bucky, who is not at ALL my usual type, but like i've said in other posts, there's a fundamental tension in him between his EXTREME self-centeredness—he doesn't care that curt doesn't want to hit him, he doesn't care that crank is making valid points about the cathedral, he doesn't want to sit on the ground safe while everyone else is fighting—and the fact that he is STILL, EVEN SO, a fundamentally decent dude who cares about keeping people safe, who signed up for a dangerous job to help right nazi germany's wrongs BEFORE pearl harbor, who's the one to say "we SHOULD fold them in" about the tuskegee airmen when gale is like "i don't think anything about them," who rerouted the whole group—at least a dozen crews, 120 men—to keep one fort [piloted by someone he Really Really Likes, at MINIMUM] from going down over trondheim, who very obviously cares about people In The Abstract AND in the directly personal. it's that tension that makes him FASCINATING to me.

and it's not that gale DOESN'T have that tension! he has just as much of it IF NOT MORE, centered aroundthe fact that he Wants and categorically Will Not Allow Himself To Have. he WANTS to beat the shit out of the RAF guys, but lets curt talk him down because he Shouldn't Want To. he snaps at friedkin that they're gonna take the FW gunfire, and then right away is like "you all did such a good job" over the radio so he doesn't look like an asshole to the rest of the crew. he was GOING TO SHOOT THAT KID, and he SHOULD'VE, because it would have been WAY more interesting for him to have a single moment of rage-fueled vengeance that then haunted him for the rest of his fucking life, but he doesn't, because he has to Look Good In The Narrative.

like, curt and friedkin have like the ONLY interesting not-bucky interactions with gale BECAUSE they see that ugly side of him—curt zeroes in on his violent streak and encourages it in the pre-regensburg convo with the "we could do some real damage" as opposed to something more palatable like "we could make a big difference" or something else less aggressive. friedkin is like a kicked dog for the entire rest of the episode after gale gets in his face and won't look at him head on again. everyone else just sees Perfect Major Cleven, including gale, who never really seems to or deal with or even be angsted by his own tension, just sort of goes on acting like he doesn't have some nasty shit in him, and it's so. boring.

Wanting a fondant cake with a 24 hour notice and getting upset when we can't do it (fondant takes a least 2 days to dry)

People who forget which store they placed their order at. (We only have 2 locations????)

People who don't understand that we close early on Sundays.

People who try to open the door an hour before we open or an hour before we close and look visibly upset when they see me not move to let them in like we arent???? Open???

One of the worst interactions I had was in the bakery. This lady asked me if the strawberry cheesecake was good. I said "if you like strawberry it is." I guess that offended her somehow and she made it her mission to see my try a piece so I can tell her if it's good.

The problem with her plan is I'm allergic to strawberries. She was not having any of my "lies" and found anyone and everyone one and told them I am a horrible worker because I refused to "accommodate her request." She eventually ran into the only douche canoe manager we had at the time and got him to start insisting I try a bite to make her happy. I ended up just walking out on the rest of the shift and he tried to write me up. HR forced him to drop it when I threatened to sue.

Now, the last time I talked about this I also mentioned I didn't see a point in making a post about it, because nothing I was going to say was going to be different than what you had probably already seen everywhere else.

That being said-

I had seen SO MANY idiots on the internet, to which I haven't replied (because I am also trans I used to know when or not to bother with people like that,) which had made me want to discuss the matter in my own words, even if I can't truly add anything new to the table.

So, I will probably do the same reasoning everyone else had already said, if anyone is still interested in reading it feel free, if not you can scroll. I will also address some common criticism of the theory.

Before we start the actual arguments, a few things.

No, I don't think if you believe Gwen is cis you are transphobic or something, as long as you are respectful.

I can't say how people see her or not, and while for me the evidence feels obvious, I know unless we have Gwen saying it (or someone close to her at least,) it cannot be sure one way or another. Remember that, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.

I am fine if someone doesn't think she is trans, but I do think believing is IMPOSSIBLE for her to be is when you are entering transphobic territory. The reason why I think this is dumb, aside of the evidence; is the fact that if a character doesn't need to say I'm cis at any point to believe so, Gwen shouldn't need to say I'm trans for people to HC her as such or similar.

With that out of the way, let's start.

Going back to this image, we see that Gwen has a flag that says "Protect trans kids." Which to me feels like says a lot.

I had seen people suggest that "Of course she is an ally, she is a hero!" And while I could get Gwen being interested in helping people who face discrimination, since she deals with crime and such; the idea has me cackling more than anything else.

Is not impossible, but seriously, WHEN had you seen an ally with a flag in their room? It feels like an excuse someone who is in the closet would say; allies could have trans stuff or displayed in certain situations, but those situations tend to be in public, you know? Since being an ally means being vocal when you need to; there is really no reason for an Ally to have a trans flag in their room as decoration.

To top it all off, is on top of her door, not a window or anything, is obviously this is more for her than anything else.

This...This a really big deal honestly.

In a vacuum is a small gesture, perhaps if you aren't part of the community you don't get why I think this is amazing. So let me say a couple of things.

He is supporting his trans daughter; maybe is because of my family, or because all of my current trans and non-gender conforming friends have parents who range from shitting to not very supportive in general. So having Gwen be trans, still be a teen, and her dad supporting her? FUCK that means the world to me, even if I think he isn't that good of a dad.

This is in his uniform, this isn't just supporting Gwen in front of her, but also when she isn't around. You would be surprised how many parents say to be supportive but be quiet while hearing about discrimination. This also can lead me to believe he will be supportive when other trans individuals are around.

He is a cop. In real life, I don't feel safe around cops for a multitude of reasons I will not get to because I don't want to get too political here. Regardless, the fact that he is the Police Captain of his department while having this shows that he can be supportive of trans people, is huge.

Now, I know the next piece of evidence has been debated A LOT, especially for people who honestly, have clearly no idea how cinema, animation, or art work at all.

You know? Coding can be so funny at times.

There have been multiple times, when things had been coded on purpose, to the point I thought it was as subtle as a brick hitting your face; and yet I still find people who don't get it and just baffled me to not end.

Examples: Norma in Dead End Paranormal is coded as autistic, but it is never explicitly said on the show, (I think is mentioned in the comics? I know the creator is autistic.) However I never felt it needed to, because Normal has so many signs and hints that I clock her in the first episode, and the representation is so point it feels as if she needed to state she is a woman of color.

Nimona is another example related to the trans experience; seriously almost word for word what Nimona says can be applied to trans people, with the creator also being trans; and yet I was baffled to see some people saw the movie and didn't clock that.

Now, is what Gwen is saying in this scene talking about her experience being Spider-woman? Yes. However, just like Nimona didn't explicitly say she was trans, their entire story revolves around a trans allegory (As well as being likely genderfluid,) feels like is trying to say something.

Not to mention that this is a story, an animated one at that; everything you see on screen was put there by someone and animation tends to have fewer coincidences because you are going to be staring at this screen for a LONG time most probably. It was also noted by the crunch situation (which is again, horrifying and I think Chris Miller needs to find another way to work rather than wasting time and resources like he did,) that the writers had a tendency to tweak to make sure everything was on point; this couldn't have been thrown carelessly.

With all of this preface, Gwen's speech in this section? This could be played WORD BY WORD on a come-out speech.

"And they can only know half of who I am!" -> Having your real gender identity in the closet a lot of times feels like you need to hide half of who you are, from likings to aesthetics to even how you behave socially, it can be a big toll.

"So I'm completely on my own!" -> This is a common sentiment for people who are in the closet without support, because you are carrying all these feelings alone and have no one to understand.

"And now, I don't- I don't even know what the right thing is, anymore!" -> People may be a bit confused about this one, but believe it or not, it happens more often than you think. Should you transition? Should you wait a few years? Should you try to have this conversation with your parents, cousins, etc?

"But I know...I can't lose, one more friend." -> I don't think, I need to talk about how often people aren't supportive of trans individuals. I could talk more about this, but frankly, I don't need to. It happens, even to this day and age, especially in the current political climate.

To top all of this off, the reason why I singling this part (Aside from this speech being as subtle as the Ruby Gillman movie having the antagonist be a parody of Ariel.) Is the background.

The colors are just like a trans flag.

Now, I had seen people suggest that pointing at this is dumb because "that's just an homage to the covers!"

To which I said, no, this is the homage.

And what the background is doing with Gwen in the speech scene is definitely not the same thing.

I find this argument really funny from an artistic point of view, but in case people are wondering why I don't think it counts, let me number a few things.

The covers do this lighting situation OUTSIDE, they normally depict Gwen being around the city on a landscape when things happen, not indoors. This is both the covers and the sky in Gwen's universe. But we don't see indoor places doing this really.

The colors blend, while you can see buildings and windows have their own colours, you can also see them going from orange, to pink and red on the exact same wall.

If you want even more proof of my support, let me show you what the artbook says about this (which includes the covers.)

My point is, even if we try to argue that the covers had something to do; do you think in a movie where they already have Gwen had a trans flag, her dad had a trans patch; would have a moment when the speech mimics exactly the trans experience (or a big chunk for many people,) with the colors in the background being EXACTLY like a trans a flag, with creators and creative that they have STATED, the importance of color in Gwen's world and in Gwen specifically, somehow just choose colors at random at a pivotal moment of the movie?

And I am somehow the crazy one?

Biases

I like to believe I am a fair person, for the most part. Every time I do these analyses I try to be as impartial as possible, and when I know there is a chance my biases and personal opinion will come into hand, I said that much.

As I said before, I am trans, anyone who has seen at least my master post can probably guess I like Gwen. Having a character I dearly love be trans (Even if our situations are wildly different) obviously means the world to me, and perhaps I would have had a similar headcanon even without any hints or evidence.

Regardless, I don't think what I am saying is purely biased; things are put in movies for a reason, especially animated movies, and let me tell you something, has this been another character, especially if it was a new character? I don't think people would be debating this.

If we have a new character having a trans flag in their room, their dad having a trans patch, this narrative; I doubt anyone would be saying this is coding. (Honestly, we would probably have more dudebros saying this is woke garbage than the ones I had seen lol.)

Alternative theories

Now, since I have addressed the theory and some of its criticism, I can't just ignore the number of people had rather than thinking Gwen is trans, believe someone else is.

Theory 1: Peter is Trans

This isn't odd. Honestly if you had been part of the Spiderman community while being queer, or aware of queer readings, you would have probably come around to the fact that a lot of people headcanon Peter Parker as trans, in multiple different variants in different mediums.

Partially because the spidey-hero situation really mimics the trans experience (there is a reason why you can put Gwen's speech on a come-out scene while simultaneously being about her hero identity without either way sounding forced,) and depending on what source materials, other clues can apply. This post isn't about that and it is already extremely long, so I will not dwell on this.

With this theory in mind, Gwen and her dad would be having trans flag and patch in memory of Peter, since with this theory it was likely that was the reason he was bullied, and probably another reason why to experiment to become the lizard; since being bullied could make him feel like he needs to find a way to be more masculine.

And look, do I have a problem with people thinking Peter is trans? Not really, I encourage it, I personally like the idea that both Gwen and Peter were trans and they bonded over it.

However, I wouldn't want this to be in canon, why?... It feels like it would fall into some harmful stereotypes.

Think about it this way; if we go with this route, a trans teen was bullied, after showing he looks like he is kind of isolated (Gwen seems to have the band at least, Peter looks like he was a loner, and then Gwen started to put distance between them because Spider-woman issues.) Get's so desperate that in an attempt to be "special" (maybe even "better" and "stronger," if he felt he wasn't enough as he was,) tries to experiment with things he shouldn't dying in the process; to which Gwen and her dad then would try to fight for trans rights in his memory, as this theory also heavily implies Peter was bullied because he was trans.

And look, angst narratives had their place, and a lot of people like this narrative, heck I remember a book that does something similar (More than Gold is the name, tho the character doesn't die,) and that was written by a trans person.

Nonetheless, the idea to suggest the only trans person in this narrative, dies after ostracization and bullying, and their purpose on the story as a whole would be to fuel Gwen's pain, with the "protect trans kids" idea only happening partially because of her guilt; feels a lot like "bury your gays (or trans in this case,)" something akin to frigging (while Peter would obviously still consider a boy in this theory, having a character from a minority die to hurt/inspire a protagonist, feels deeply concerning.) Is just a combination of too many things that I dislike.

Again, if someone likes this idea I will not say they are a bad person or anything; but I would have fewer issues if it wasn't because a SIGNIFICANT number of those who said this theory, had also shown to be deeply transphobic; insisting Gwen is obviously not trans with non-arguments. Doesn't need to be everyone, but it still annoys me.

2. Captain Stacy IS the trans one!

This one is...interesting, to say the least.

This one is less frequent than Peter's, but I had seen it pop around enough that I decided to address it.

Unlike Peter's, this one doesn't carry horrible connotations. Well it would have the "only" (if we go with this theory and with no other "canon" trans parent in the story,) trans parent be also the one that tries to point a gun at his daughter, to also be so extremely stubborn even when she finally comes back he acts kind of petulant- okay all of these things are bad, however, they wouldn't need to be related to each other; since none of these are really stereotypes of trans men. That's something?

Anyways, the big idea behind this theory is that aside from being more plausible for an adult to use a trans patch because they are trans rather than because their kid is trans, it could be a possible explanation as to why there is no mom or mention of a mom, since this child could be in vitro.

Which, okay, not that bad; I don't think a lot of trans men would like the idea of being pregnant, however, it has happened before so why not.

I don't think this is a bad theory overall, I just don't roll with it because it feels kind of, lazy? Again, do as you may; but it feels that the people who did it were more interested in again, having an explanation for Gwen not being trans, while also not actively being transphobic. Maybe some people just want more trans dad content I don't know.

There are technically instances of both the Peter theory and the Dad theory that could dethrone both of these, but the one related to Peter makes me feel a bit gross to think too hard about, and the other George one could imply something things that one way or other I don't like when the reality is that is a few frames on a scene where the patch isn't the focus. Another reason is that hey, if I don't have solid evidence on my own, I am not going to nitpick at other fan theories.

Speaking of which.

Is this Representation?

Short answer: No, no it's not.

I don't even want to discuss if is good representation, because it doesn't feel like it is to begin with. Yes, I do believe Gwen is trans, but all the things I have are background references, that are okay, however not having a confirmation does sting. It doesn't have to be the focus of her character, yet is not even off comments really, just some clues around.

Do I think it doesn't have Merit? No.

I remember during the first days this movie was out, I read a comment from someone who was in Florida, who said when they saw the "Protect Trans Kids" flag in Gwen's room, started crying.

I think of myself, almost a decade ago, in a country that wasn't really welcome to gay people, much less trans people; of the discrimination I faced because of it. I think when I was a teen, grappling with all these feelings; and how I would had feel seen the badass and cool, Gwen Stacy as Spider-woman, having that trans flag in their room. I know I would have cried too.

We cannot act like things are perfect currently; the United States, England, and other countries are becoming increasingly transphobic; having these things in a PG movie, from a big company, that is released to a worldwide level and is making bank. Not to mention that as small as these details are, the movie did end up getting banned for it, not even censored.

I think we can get better representation, but it doesn't mean this is less huge or less special; even if it didn't touch me like it would have in the past, it had touched many people, and that's something I appreciate one way or another.

This is in itself, another reason why to love this idea.

Gwen being trans fits the themes of the story better

Stan Lee is obviously, talking about Spider-MAN, but it gets the message across doesn't it?

Part of the reason Spiderman became so iconic, was the idea that ANYONE could be Spiderman, this ended up involved in these movies too.

In Across the Spider-verse, we see multiple types of spiders, people from the future, and past, children, women, men, animals, and a popsicle at one point (literally.) The movie also has Miguel, who is the antagonist, convinced what makes them Spiderman/Spiderwoman/you get the idea- is decided by a cosmic force, with Miles claiming that Spiderman is an idea, a responsibility, but something much more diverse than "you need these events to happen in order to be considered truly spiderman."

In Into the Spider-verse, this idea is also shown, by having spideys that are not just Peter Parker, and how Peter while important, isn't truly the protagonist of this tale, he doesn't need to be.

This franchise hinders the idea that being Spiderman is more than a name, a gender, or your background; is about someone that when given the possibility of using their powers for their own gain or ignoring the call, decides to risk it all, to handle a difficult life, to try to do their best despite the circumstances; because the essence of Spiderman, is being a hero, and anyone can be Spiderman. Anyone can be a hero.

Gwen being trans, elevates this idea.

While I think having more Spider-woman content is empowering on its own, cis woman or trans, the idea of having a trans hero obviously exemplifies this idea more than having her absence.

If Gwen is a trans girl, it would mean having a trans girl who is a tridimensional character, a trans teen that messes up, that doesn't know what to do, but is also a hero, and wants to do her best like everyone else. It means showing a trans girl as someone beautiful, badass, and having a guy who adores her with all his might.

If the idea of having her Peter be trans could be problematic, having her be trans means having a great role model, means a story about trans joy where we are free to be more than our identities, because the idea of Gwen casually being a hero and also trans is amazing in its own.

Is not perfect, but I ultimately love this idea, because it brings me hope. It means comfort for some trans and trans teens suffering out there, it means perhaps someone out there will try to offer more stories on the big screen with trans teens.

I want to believe this because Gwen being trans means more for us and the narrative than it would be otherwise. Let us have our dreams.

OBX4 SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT

Kiara is pretty normal actually nothing happens to her/her family besides the fact that JJ dies. At the beginning of the season, the kids have bought back JJ's home and built their own business and home on it, and Kiara's parents basically turn her away from any kind of support or shelter. Like their daughter comes back from a deadly adventure and they're like we love you but we can't do this right now. In the second half of the season, the city is rezoning property and planning to tear down the pogues' self made home, and Kiara's parents come to a town hall meeting to support her, which feels weird given that they borderline disowned her. Her dad also pushes a cop into the water to keep the cop from shooting and hurting JJ, which also feels weird since her father literally hates JJ, but it is a nice gesture of goodwill and trying to help Kiara. That is, deadass, all that really happens to her, and tbh I need her to have more plot for fucks sake. Cleo even got more plot this season - they bring back Terrance, who was like her surrogate father, and they kill him off too, which gives her a vengeance/emotional motivation plot. Kiara doesn't ever feel like she gets much. Idk. Madison Bailey I love you so much we need to give you more

Pope.... Christ. Okay. First of all I fucking love Pope more than anything, like he might be my favorite pogue. After the town hall meeting regarding rezoning the property and taking the pogues' home away from them, JJ incites a riot (to Starburster by Fontaines DC, so it's a pretty dope start to a riot, but anyways) and they chase him down to a real estate office where the cops surround the property and literally are about to storm the building and shoot him because he went through town shattering storefronts and cars and starting fires. To keep JJ from getting shot, Pope tackles one of the cops, and gets ARRESTED for aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer. His dad is obviously fucking pissed, and the court tells Pope to stay away from his friends. He sneaks time in with Cleo, but basically his dad is like "Cleo will be fine she's tough, you need to stay away from everyone" and they make a deal to have Pope join the mfing MARINES. Because that's the only way to fix him I guess. And then when he's about to ENLIST (I'm sorry this plotline was just so wacky to me), he excuses himself to go to the bathroom and makes a run for it, therefore catching up with the others in whatever plotline they were doing.

Tbh idk what I take more issue with in popes plotline, bc I just didn't like any of what I summarized to you. I know it kinda mirrors s1 when Pope sunk Toppers family boat and JJ went away for him, but idk. It just felt repetitive. And while this is all happening, when we see the other Pogues in their section of the plot, they're never like "wait how is Pope?? He's in jail?? He's on house arrest and hasn't contacted any of us, shouldn't we be worried??" like they have no updates until Cleo is like "lmao he's enlisting in the Marines!!" and they're just like "aww. damn." like they don't do shit about it lol.

However Pope and Cleo are SO CUTE and I love them so much, when they're in Morocco, Cleo gets hurt and she wants to kill the man that killed Terrance but is too injured to do so so Pope does it for her, and idk that's a HUGE act imo, like morally but also just in terms of how much he cares about her and wants to honor her values.

Also you didn't ask but Sarah is pregnant lmao and after revealing her pregnancy they have her fall off a boat in a storm and her and JJ are deadass lost at sea for an entire day, maybe longer. They also don't eat much, I think she has a single apple in like a 48 hr span. They're all dehydrated. So good luck to that baby but like they really should have thought that plotline thru more 😭😭

There's a woman on tiktok who makes videos about EPPK, a genetic skin condition that makes the skin on your hand palms and feet soles grow hard and thick. She has EPPK and so does her son, her videos are mostly how she takes care of it and what it is. People are in her comments saying she shouldn't have had kids bc of it and if they feel that way about a condition that doesn't seem to cause too many issues if you take care of the hardened skin, etc, I dread to think what their thoughts on people with other genetic conditions/disabilites having kids are. Like this is a skin condition that she's found a treatment for that works for her and she takes care of her son's condition too and people are calling her selfish for having kids and passing this on.

Genuinely disgusting how people will take any excuse to spout eugenics. Over a skin condition!!! My heart goes out to her and her son for having to deal with all of that hate. Recoms having to deal with weird Eywa blessed Spider is one thing, but recoms having to deal with weird Eywa blessed Spider AND one of the Sully kids, who just goes 'yea, that's normal' whenever Spider does anything weird.

they have spider, who makes friends with the most dangerous, temperamental, and downright vicious animals of the forest; playing with viperwolves, racing with thanators, walking with a herd of titanothere with no fear. not only did he initiate these bouts of play and the animals allow it, but he was often sought out. older viperwolves looking for a babysitter to wear out their pups. a particular thantator that supposedly took a liking to the little human looking for their friend, curling up next to him like a ginormous glorified house cat. the younger titanothere calfs jesting him while there mothers looked on amusingly, the older of the herd seeking spider out, seemingly having conversations with the boy (it reminded the squad of elephants, there wise, down right gentle behavior with this boy who was nothing more than a speck to them).

it was terrifying from an outsider perspective, but spider was perfectly content, he even has names for most of the creatures he met, how he told them apart no one really knew, and he seemed to enjoy their company more then his siblings or the recoms at times.

spider also didn't use a mask, claimed he found he didn;t need one when he was little when it came off while wrestling with his brothers, and that in itself gave miles a heart attack everytime he looked to spider and found his very human son out in the open pandora air, forgetting for a split second how weird his fucking kid was.

then there was the tree, the tree and its vines and roots that spider would fall asleep against only to get swaddled up in its grasp like something out of a horror movie. spiders sibling had to keep the recoms from cutting him out on numerous occassions, explaining that this was in fact, very normal for spider, that with his lack of queue he found another way to connect with The Great Mother.

in fact, all of this was normal. the recoms didn't anticipate sitting in front of a cook fire while they listened to a sully kid give them an extensive run down of all the shit that spider does, that he shouldn't be able to do, and how its just normal now.

not only are the joined forces of both kids a literal nightmare, cause they are chaos incarnate, but every. single. day. the recoms find themselves baffled by spider only to hear the quip of a sully kid saying "I told you so,"

Chloe acted out because 1) that's how she as a person reacts to things (cause you know, different people do things differently in bad situations and while her actions against others when she's lashing out aren't good, you can't just invalidate her feelings like that) and 2) she wasn't taught any better and sometimes people have a hard time learning what they should and shouldn't do, especially if they've been taught otherwise for a very long time. toddlers and kids basically don't know the difference except that if they have strong feelings, they're going to react to it. so if Bustier's kid turns out to have an "unacceptable" type of reaction to something? then what?

Yeah just. Kids do shit like this. It's normal to act out, whether it be from testing the boundaries and laws because they don't yet know what's acceptable, or because they feel some sort of angry and frustrated.

Chloé's case is more extreme due to her situation. Both in the fact that she's dealing with bigger things like emotionally abusive/neglectful parents and a supervillain using her as a tool, but yes also in the fact that those people have taught her that this is an acceptable way to act and have given her the tools to have this behavior get her what she wants.

But it's something all kids do because they're emotionally immature and impulsive little gremlins who don't understand long-term consequences/cause and effect. And I mean that with all the love in my heart it's very hard being a kid because you don't have any control over these situations or the ability to change things even if you know it's fucked but hell you might not even have the ability to know the situation is fucked just that you're not happy.

Also seeing as Tsuna doesn't really have all that good Guardians other than his Mists no one other than them is in . Instead we have Tsuna who got raised with the Varia and Harry since he was 8 and then at around 10 got kidnapped , proceeded to start a revolution and a break out with the rest of the kids (which is how he got his (1/2) Mist , Sun and Rain) while Harry and the Varia were on the Estraneo's ass for daring to kidnap the resident sunshine child (because Bell is really really bloodthirsty and that is his emotional support second Sky)

Xanxus is on the other hand laughing his ass off at the Mafia(especially Vongola) and their stupidity . But make no mistake the moment anyone thinks they can put his baby cousin cough*baby brother*cough in the same hell as they put him there are gonna be a carnage only a pissed off Wrath Sky can create

Also people really shouldn't underestimate Tsuna , especially Tsuna who was both raised by the Varia as default babysitters and also allowed to fully flourish as the VERY Cloudy Sky he is . (Fun fact here he is Xanxus Cloud for better or worse on Xanxus overprotective tendencies)

First of all I did enjoy the idea that Reggie killed the first Ben and reprogramed everyone's memories about what happened. I think the whole thing between Jennifer and the Horrors and Ben could've worked somehow, but it was just weird straight bullshit?

Like, don't mind me, I like the whole Ben loosing his mind thing, but they could've done it in a whole new way.

FOR EXAMPLE

We have people remembering their other lives. WHY ON EARTH THEY DIDN'T USE THIS IN BEN? Watching him slowly loosing his mind while they search for Jennifer and he has this feeling like he shouldn't find her, like this is a bad idea. Him dealing with his families death while remembering slowly about how he loved this new family before. ANYTHING about his and Klaus' relationship???

And like, the whole thing about Reggie protecting her instead of killing her is so fucking out of character of him. Reggie killed his own kid, his own killing machine, with no second thoughts. Whats the point of letting Jennifer walk around?

ALSO if this Reggie is not the same Reggie that raised them, how did Abigail know shit about those kids? HOW???

I think the one amazing moment in the show was Viktor yelling at Reggie. That was so good, so cathartic and, gosh, Elliot did it so well.

Klaus and Allison fighting? gold. Klaus not seeing a single ghost and acting like an addict without consuming no drug was just??? Why would he go look for a guy he owned money? Why did he want the man to shoot him if he knew he wouldn't die? It was just so???? no????

DID WE FORGET THE WHOLE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT HE HAD LAST SEASON? LIKE? WHERE HE WAS ABLE TO SHOO AWAY THE GHOSTS???

Did the writters see how people were painting Lila as abusive towards Diego and decided to make Diego a bad partner??? Tho he was a bad partner to that cop lady too.

Luther being over Sloane after 5 years would be ok if we didn't know about his eternal longing towards Allison since they were kids to some point in the middle of season 2.

but like, the main thing that I disliked was how they made them act alone most of the season.

Whats the point of Ben loosing his mind if theres no one to worry about him? Who cares about Klaus using his powers to make money if he does it by himself? Why let Viktor bond with Reggie if no one is gonna call him a traitor?

The fact the world was ending and they were all there eating popcorn to see the whole shit between Lila and Five and Diego was funny as fuck. And I do admit that I loved that ship and how it happened, but I wanted to see conection between the siblings.

I wanted them to bond and love eachother before dying.

Not just meet, fight, not see eachother for a while, meet again and die.

I was scared the last season wouldn't meet my expectations, but I guess they wanted to compete with season 2 for the most nonsense season.

the group sacrifice would've been 100% better if they died with the kugelblitz after the wedding.

I'm so sorry btw. Just needed to bring it all up.

Sometimes I just sit and think about the fact my brother was born about a month after I turned 12

(Jan. 15th and Feb. 23)

At first, it was just helping here and there. Still everyday. But I could get into bed on school nights (which instead of sleeping was me time mostly because yk)

Slowly he became my full responsibility. At like 13-14 I was accused of being on drugs. I wasn't doing 🍃 at the time.

So my mom goes through my entire room, finds nothing.

What was really going on? I was just tired. No mom, my eyes aren't red from 🍃, it's because you just woke me up. I mean, sure, I was laying on laundry in the bathroom.. But come on! Give a girl a break. I was TIRED.

when COVID hit, it was full time. 24/7. So since I was home, I was taking care of my dad's mom and my brother. While trying to keep up with school work and zoom classes. To say I did horribly..

But by the end of that school year my mom pulled me out of that school and put me in homeschooling.

So. That's great. I guess I could say I have experience in childcare. Not that I ever want to work with children.

I'm undiagnosed, I know that. With what? Probably a lot of shit.

My brother is ADHD/autistic we believe (not hard to see it) and I have to be the one watching him every day?

Who thinks it's a good idea for a holding-on-by-a-thread neurodivergent adult to take care of a equally neurodivergent child?

My mom apparently.

And she still gets pissed when I don't finish something or do something.

I'm simply just tired. So tired.

One day I know I'll get to leave, go stay with my girlfriend. Or my aunt. Whichever comes first. I know it will get better. I just have to keep going. I know I'm likely burned out but I don't have much of a choice. I still have a child who relies on me.

And you know what? My mother calls me so many different fucking names. Yells. (Which, I WILL cry whenever someone raises their voice at me.)

I'm a bitch if I get an attitude.

I'm a bully if I'm not nice to my brother.

I'm stupid and ignorant if I don't understand something. Which, I'm now too scared too ask for someone to repeat something or to ask for help. Because I should know how to do the thing already apparently.

I'm a liar when I say I don't like ground meat because of its texture. Because I've ate it before. Or, when I say I'm going to the bathroom but my brother doesn't want me to leave. And I go to the bathroom, but then I go sit in my room.

And *oh* the disappointed and disapproving look my mom has given me as she passes my room after I refused to cuddle with my brother saying "it would have only taken only ten minutes and he would have went to sleep"

context: My brother will ask to cuddle when he's tired. And if you allow him to curl up he'll likely fall asleep within 10-30mins.

More context: SA has made me VERY uncomfortable with just about anyone touching me. Sometimes I can't mentally or physically handle anyone touching me AT ALL. and it got really bad so I was turning down my brother a lot. And yeah, I feel fucking shitty. I love that kid.

But I need space sometimes.

And often these things linger in my head. It gnaws. It's always there. I randomly cry at night because of the amount of fucking shit my family has put me through.

Sometimes I feel like I'm actually a really bad person. That I am these things I'm called.

Then I remember. I video things I do sometimes. While chatting with the people I'm closest to. I talk through my process. I can stay on track. It's a lot more fun.

Also I started this really upset and um lost what I was saying. But um that's actually a lot I wrote, I'm sorry.

I'm so sorry you had to deal with all that. Children shouldn't be raising children at all. I've heard and seen so many parents do that to older kids, make them in charge of their younger siblings, take care of them, see to their needs, everything. It shouldn't happen.

I'm betting your mom is around my age so I'm ready to throw down.

And please know you having boundaries with your family, especially your little brother, is fine. He needs to learn that sometimes you need your own personal time, as does your mom, because you're a human and not an in-home babysitter.
