I miss Mukami found family headcanons! Can you share more? 👀
The Extended Mukami Family Headcanons Part 3: The New Year’s Eve
This ask was answered together with @ruki-mukami-dl, @seaoflove07, @eri-talks, @mermaid--bride and @nalia-tsukino. We decided to make this New Year's Eve themed since it's that time of the year.
Before the New Year’s Eve
Christine will tell all the girls: “We are going shopping to buy our New Year’s Outfits.”
Other girls aren’t that eager to go shopping but agree anyway. However, Kazemi isn’t very excited about the new year since she never really cared about holidays apart from Christmas.
Kou joins the girls. Ruki allows Yuriko to go with the others but even though Kou’s with them, he will tell a familiar to keep an eye on Yuriko’s wellbeing.
On New Year’s Eve Christine will wake up early to bake different kinds of cookies for everyone. Azusa will join like she always does. Christine will make sure he won't add any spice or chili powder to the cookie batter.
Christine will ask Brother Ruki if he needs help with anything. Ruki will assign her some tasks but wants to take care of most of the cooking himself.
Yuriko would want to help out arranging the party, but this year she isn’t allowed to do that. Ruki tells her to take it easy after the shopping trip and gather some energy.
The Family Party
Maria and Laito come to visit the family party since Maria is close to the other girls. She is very excited about the New Year. Especially about the fireworks. It's her favorite time of the year. The end of a cycle and the start of a new one. So she's going to put more effort into celebrating it than any other holiday apart from her birthday.
Nalia and Yuuto were invited, too, but since they had their twins just before this year’s party, they are staying at home and having their own family time.
Christine will be wearing an Elegant Sparkly dress with a nice pair of high heels.
Eri does not care about dressing fancy, socializing, and partying. The smaller the group and the more familiar she is with them the better.
Kazemi chooses to wear white and the same goes for Maria. But Maria considered wearing black too.
Yuriko wears her blue winter dress for the evening. She didn’t want to waste money on a new dress this time since there are so many other things Ruki and she will need to buy soon.
Christine and Kou will pull everyone to the dance floor. Saying no is not an option.
Yuriko and Ruki dance happily together, but only the slow songs. Ruki makes sure Yuriko’s feet don’t get too tired.
Eri and Yuma sneak out of the dancefloor as soon as possible.
Kazemi will be happy to be there with everyone and might even be a little more affectionate to Kou than she usually is. But just a little bit though since he likes to test her patience.
Midnight & Fireworks
Christine loves watching the Fireworks but will take Azusa elsewhere to watch them together. She loves the family but will want to have a special moment alone with Azusa when the fireworks are going on.
Ruki will take Yuriko to the balcony of the manor when it’s time for the fireworks. He will make sure she stays warm and comfortable. After the fireworks, the couple slip onto the third floor and cuddle in the bed until Yuriko falls asleep.
For Eri, fireworks are pretty, and she enjoys seeing different colors and patterns. However, since fireworks are loud, she would rather watch them from afar. So, she also sneaks out with Yuma in a secluded part of the yard. She wouldn’t mind getting a midnight kiss from Yuma. After that, the couple sneak into Yuma’s room, where Eri will either do her own things (draw, games, etc.) or go to sleep if the socializing exhausted her. Or snuggle with Yuma if possible.
Laito is also eager to have some special time with Maria. And he will make sure they find a place for that.
Kou is disappointed that everyone else disappears when the fireworks start, but Kazemi doesn’t mind that much. And after all, they both have sweet moments at midnight, too.

𝔼𝕧𝕖𝕣𝕝𝕒𝕤𝕥𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕊𝕡𝕒𝕣𝕜 ~𝔻𝔸ℝ𝕂: 𝔼ℙ𝕀𝕃𝕆𝔾𝕌𝔼~
Summary: Apple of Eden
Word Count: 1211
“You want to get rid of him, don’t you?” the older boy said.
Chiyo looked at him suspiciously. It was unlike Reiji to extend a helping hand without reason, much less to her, who he openly loathed.
“Why would you do that for me?”
The boy let out a haughty laugh, the kind she hated the most.
“I am not doing this for you, but I don’t feel like telling you my reasoning either.”
Partnering up with Reiji came close to betraying Shuu. The two brothers were not exactly known for their good relationship with each other. Reiji being the one to constantly try and best his older brother. She knew Shuu hated the constant attention and all the expectations he had to deal with, and that he would switch with Reiji if he could. If only it was that easy.
“Then, what do you want from me?” she asked.
Reiji eyed the girl thoughtfully before speaking up:
“Lead him to the village, but don’t let him run after the guy if he tries to. And leave the rest to me.”
“To sum it up: it seems that those odd newcomers were sent by father,” Reiji said.
So Shuu’s hunch was right, that person was the center of all strange happenings once again. He wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry. Quite honestly he just wanted some goddamn peace of mind already, but that wasn't anything new.
It seemed as if Reiji’s familiar was able to find out quite a bit of information before the Mukami family caught onto him. The term “Apple of Eden” came up, but Shuu could not make much sense of it. However this might have been because right now he had something else on his mind and it involved the woman sitting opposite of him.
Chiyo was visibly uncomfortable, avoiding looking into his direction. She was chewing on her lip, drawing blood here and there. How did they end up in this mess?
Well, he knew how, it was more of a rhetorical question anyway.
He cursed himself for failing to keep his distance to her. It felt like he had already tried everything: pushing her away, being mean, trying to make her hate him so she would keep her distance; and yet all it took for him to throw all of his resolve away was her crying face. It almost had felt as if they were back in the past, before all of this mess came to light. Except for one thing: she had pushed him away in the end now.
Shuu had no idea what to feel anymore, life would be so much easier if he didn’t have to deal with such troublesome things. It was frustrating. He had worked so hard to kill those feelings, but he only felt everything that much more intensely now; or at least he was hyper aware of them now.
Did that kiss earlier cause this? Did it set free a bunch of unwanted thoughts?
No, he has been feeling jealous for quite some time already. The smell of another man on her was unbearable.
He rubbed his temple and sighed. His mind was such a mess right now, the nightmare he had just moments ago did not really help him sort anything out either. Just why was he now remembering events from that long ago?
Somehow it felt as if he was running in circles in that burning forest, without a way out.
He wanted to vomit.
Everyone around Chiyo was now trying to make sense of the information Reiji shared. It seemed the ‘family’ consisted of a total of four vampires. Chiyo had the pleasure to bump into two of them already. She really didn’t feel like finding out who the other two were, but she also felt like she eventually would have no other choice if she wanted to get any more valuable information.
“I met one of those bastards the other day,” Subaru said, “he was so annoying, I wanted to punch him into next week.”
“This Azusa person doesn’t fail to creep me out either,” Kanato added.
Looks like all of them were bothered by a Mukami in one way or another.
All the input from Reiji was a welcome distraction from her current problems. She touched her lips absentmindedly, the feeling of Shuu’s kiss still lingering there. She had to push him away, the kiss had felt wrong, and she really did not want for it to feel that way. She wondered if her relationship with Shuu was truly beyond saving. Maybe she needed to get some distance between them.
Her mind went back to the problem at hand: the Mukami family and the Apple of Eden project, how Reiji called it. If it was a project to awaken Eve, then at least Yui’s dream could be put into context. Judging by what Ruki let slip when they talked before, her own Lilith dream had to be connected to it as well.
“Why did you leave Adam?”
Could it be that this was supposed to pit Yui and her against each other? That seemed excessive and pretty much useless. But as far as she was concerned the man who called himself the King of Vampires was an enigma.
One thing was clear to her though: if she stayed here, she would not find out anything new. She had to leave this house.
“Chiyo-san? What are you doing? You’ve been running around this study for a while now. Are you searching for something specific?”
Yui had taken to keeping Chiyo company during her bible research lately, the study making for a nice place where she could finally get a break from the triplets. She was watching Chiyo walk around the room restlessly, skipping through the different shelves.
The only problem was that Chiyo did not know what exactly she was searching for. She wanted something that would help her when dealing with the Mukamis. Though she doubted she would find anything of interest after all.
“Can I help you with anything?” Yui asked.
If Yui had ties to Eve, then Chiyo would really rather not have her in the picture. She didn’t want to put her in unnecessary danger.
Chiyo’s eyes suddenly fell on an old children’s book that has been popular amongst little vampires a while ago. A story about a forbidden fig tree or something like that if she remembered correctly. She wasn’t sure why, but something made her grab that book.
“I’d rather not involve you in this,” Chiyo said.
Yui looked at her with her usual worried expression, she must have understood what Chiyo was planning. It was not the greatest plan, but it was all she had.
If the Mukamis were sent by the King and acted out his orders, she had to find out what the greater picture was! There was no way she would allow herself to be another pawn in a game. She was sick of being pushed around by everybody!
“Just… please be safe, Chiyo-san,” Yui said.
She nodded.
“I will keep you posted whenever I can.”
You know where to find me if you ever change your mind.
That’s what he had said to her. She just hoped that he really meant that.

DARK FATE — Mystic 「Dark 03」 [CG]
[ Dark 02 ]
[ Location: Eden ]
???: … …Hm?
Fu... Upon what forbidden tree has the serpent coiled up around this time?
—Fade—
[ Location: Unknown — Demon Realm ]
Mystic: Uuh...
Yui: Mys, you're awake!
How are you? Does it hurt anywhere?
Mystic: Ah, well... my head's killin' me.
Yui: Sigh... I suppose that's normal. Ruki said you lost a lot of blood.
Mystic: ... Yeah...
... ... ...
——Yui!
Yui: Eh?! Wha—what's the matter, all of the sudden?
Mystic: Thank Satan, you're alright! I'm glad you made it...
... Uh... where are we?
Yui: This is KarlHeinz's castle... I believe.
Mystic: Karl——?!
( How...? )
Yui: Ruki arrived with you yesterday.
I was so worried... The medic said it was likely you wouldn't wake up for a few more days.
Mystic: Oh, ain't ya a sweetheart, little lamb?
Mystic pulls Yui's cheek.
Yui: Ow!
Mystic: I won't die from somethin' so small. You can't get rid of me that easily.
( Though, my life expectancy might've only been extended because of the Eclipse... )
So... where're the others?
Yui: Oh, you're right! I should tell them you've woken up!
—Fade—
[ Location: Guestroom — Eden Castle ]
Mystic looks at himself on the mirror. He slides a hand over the bandages around his torso.
Mystic: ( Hm... it tingles a bit, but it doesn't hurt anymore.
What kind of dark magic did this doctor perform? )
God, I’m so tired…
He plops down on the edge of the bed.
Mystic: ( … I wonder if KarlHeinz himself is actually aware that I’m here…
I feel like I’m intruding somewhere I really shouldn’t be… )
—Flashback—
Kazuha: Here I believed the lowest scum that aligned himself with Vampires had long since rotted away in his own misery.
—End Flashback—
Mystic: … …
( What am I supposed to do now?
Not only did I deceive them. I fought back. If I ever dare to show my face again, I’m as good as dead.
——And my mother…
What will they do if they figure out she covered for me? )
—Knock, knock—
The door opens. The Mukami emerge.
Yuma: Ya’re a real roach. Just doesn’t die.
Mystic: Thanks, babe. You got my heart burstin’ with love.
Kou: You really took one for us back there, huh?
Azusa: Yeah…
Mystic: Just committin' to my word. Not much else.
Ruki: How are you feeling?
Mystic: A lil' fatigued. It could be worse…
Mystic brings an arm over his shoulder and pulls at his shirt to show off the bandages.
Mystic: ——You tell me.
Ruki: ... It does look like it was a large laceration.
Yui: Hey, Mys, what’s that on your shoulder?
Mystic: Hm? What’re you talkin’ about?
Yui: There. You have a black mark on your shoulder.
Mystic: Ah… Y’all haven’t seen it before, huh?
Yuma: Seen what?
—Rustle—
Mystic: ——This guy here.
Kou: Ohh!
Mystic: It was a gift from a friend.
Yui: A friend?
Mystic: The son of a Vibora. His family specializes in pigments… with a certain twist.
Yuma: What’d ya mean by that?
Mystic: ——Come here.
Yuma: Ha?
Mystic: Just come here, I ain’t gonna bite you!
Yuma reluctantly approaches Mystic’s side. Mystic extends his arm. There is a short spark from the outline of his tattoo. A snake pounces off his skin, chomping its jaws near the Vampire’s face.
—Hiss!—
Yuma: Wha—?!
Yui: Ah…!
The viper hisses. It coils back around Mystic’s arm.
Mystic: Did say I wasn’t gonna bite you.
——His family uses the pigments to make ink. Most are in children’s books, where they create moving pictures.
But, well, it has other uses.
Ruki: Enchanting…
Ruki leans down to inspect it. The snake curiously flicks its tongue at him.
Mystic: Oh? It likes you.
Ruki: Is that so?
Ruki tries to reach for it. Mystic's fingers flex. The serpent flinches back. It tightens around Mystic's arm and swiftly sinks back into the black ink.
Ruki: ... ...!
Mystic: ... ...?
Kou: Hahaha! More like you scare it.
Mystic: Huh... how odd.
( It's never done that before... )
「Monologue」
After awakening, I come to find Ruki has brought me into the Eden, KarlHeinz's castle. Though the wounds have been sealed, I can't help but feel them throb. I know my family will find me—all of us—eventually. The walls of this fortress will only hold for so long.

🧀 » who is the better cook ?
⚠️ » who has the crazier family ?
🌤 » how long has your pairing been together ?
who is the better cook?
Yuma. No kidding.
Liz knows how to play the piano, the harp and can sing like an experienced soprano, but she can’t cook. There was this one time where Liz couldn’t bare with the thought of Yuma cooking for both of them while she stood there not even helping, she burned the water for the noodles. And since then Liz is banned from the kitchen. (and of course had to repay the pots that she had damaged to @ruki-mukami-dl )
who has the crazier family?
With hundreds and thousands of cousins, aunts and nephews, Liz wins this one.
Her family is so extended that 60% of her familiars didn’t even know she was born before her debutant ball, the myoi clan is first at numbers with its Duke and Marquis that claim to have extended the family for more than 4 generations.
how long has your pairing been together?
Canonically Liz appeared between Vandead Carnival’s end and Dark fate’s start, in the storyline her family returns to the demon world during that time, but she has been with yuma since Lost eden.
Fictionally a couple of months, almost 7!

There was a series of asks related to Ruki as a big brother for his little sister... Could you make a headcanon for that?
I love your writing!
Mukami Ruki: Little Sister Headcanons
As stoic and intimidating as he is, Ruki won’t allow anyone to come near his little sister or even so much as look at her the wrong way without glaring them down with his icy cold eyes. He might even lay a hand on her shoulder to show others that he and his sister are not to be trifled with. Naturally, just as he would for his brothers, Ruki would go to any extreme to keep his dear little sister safe, so he tends to display these overprotective gestures.
Anyone who dares to cross or challenge her can expect to be beaten to a pulp and lectured on why they should never be within a 100-meter radius of his sister ever again.
Even though Ruki can be very strict and unkind to his younger sister at times, he does genuinely care for her. He only resorts to severe punishments—such as detaining her in the dungeon for extended periods of time, forcing her to skip dinner, or having her clean the whole Mukami manor—to discipline her into behaving appropriately. Not so she can seem proper and ladylike, but so she can fend for herself and stay out of danger. If her impulsivity is not in check, then Ruki sees this as a way she could get herself hurt, even if she thinks she is responsible on her own.
However, that doesn’t mean he won’t reward her when she has been a good little sister. Keeping the living space tidy, working diligently, and attracting little to no attention to herself—these are all expectations Ruki holds for her. If she has assisted around the house and kept her nose out of trouble, then he might surprise her with a grand feast consisting of all her favorite dishes as long as it is healthy and in moderation.
Despite these expectations, occasionally Ruki might dote on his sister or ‘baby’ her. For instance, he might make snarky comments and retorts to his brothers, Kou and Yuma, but for Azusa and his little sister he tends to play nice and refrains from picking on them unless, in his eyes, they deserved a smug remark to keep their behavior in line.
As seen in Lost Eden, the eldest Mukami has proven to be surprisingly adept at self-care. If he can give Yui a manicure and fix her hair, then he will most definitely do the same for his little sister. After a comforting bath, he might offer to dry her hair and perhaps even braid it from time to time.
While he wants his younger sister to gain independence eventually, Ruki still prepares her bath on occasion as well as cooks all of her meals. Little by little, however, he will teach her how to cook all the meals from his mental recipe book. Compared to his brothers, he might offer her more thorough guidance in the kitchen, simply because he has a soft spot for her when it comes to teaching her new things.
If she doesn’t understand an idea or concept right away, he never lashes out and always exercises patience, no matter how difficult the material seems. This is a stark contrast to how he treats his brothers. He might warn them, “pay attention next time” or “I already explained this to you.” But Ruki would never talk to his little sister in this tone. Instead, he explains from the top again until she finally gets the hang of it.
Whenever a pressing matter or dilemma plagues her mind, Ruki hopes she would visit him for advice on how to deal with it or perhaps resolve the issue. After all, he is the eldest in the household and views himself as a rather wise individual compared to the rest of his family. Whether it’s academics, social life, cooking tips, or simply random existential questions she thought of in the shower, he wants to provide as much insight as possible.
Oddly enough, the eldest Mukami is not one to show physical affection, yet he might surprise his younger sister with surprise hugs every now and then. Especially if the two of them have not seen each other in a while.
If his little sister needs to cry and let out her stresses, then Ruki always offers his shoulder for her to lean on. This is also one of those rare moments where he might show her a sincere smile in hopes of cheering her up and lifting her spirits.
No matter what they may argue or bicker over, they usually resolve it and come out of it as stronger siblings than before.
“You’re my dear sister. Despite our differences, I’ll always love and cherish you with all my heart. Remember to rely on your older brother more often, is that understood?”
🧩 Ahh, thank you for the kind words, Anon!! I’m delighted to hear you enjoy my writing and I can only hope to improve moving forward. Thank you for your headcanon request, it was a joy to write!! 🧩

Karlheinz
Permissions
Please feel free to check any of the Sakamaki Bros.’ permission lists. It’s pretty repetitively the same.
The only exceptions:
Shipping - Within any verse he’s participating in, it’s entirely possible for him to form romantic and/or sexual partnerships with anyone who suits his needs, fancy, etc. Canonically had three wives, you know what you’re signing up for if you aim for this. However, as Karlheinz is very good at controlling his partners to suit his needs, I would prefer that many of his romances not get commented on by the public unless they’re somewhere they could be witnessed or if the individual themselves talks about it. Feel free to ask me!
Participation - Hop into getting involved in plots and storylines! Just do the dashboard commentary thing and tag this blog so I can be sure to see it. This much is the same. However, for some people, plots will need to have certain secrets kept, etc. until later. You’re still welcome to get involved, but it might be better to discuss with me and any other involved players how to participate instead of commenting on the grapevine for those particular plot aspects.

In addition to the racial abilities of a pureborn vampire, he also possesses the highest level of magic in the Demon World and his power is considered by his race, as a whole, as well as his sons, as “Godlike”. Karlheinz is capable of unleashing his magic and destroying the entire Demon World. In addition, he can shapeshift and change his appearance as it suits him. Oh, did we mention he also has the ability to MANIPULATE TIME and REVERSE EVENTS until he’s satisfied? WEAKNESSES. None? DISLIKES. People not doing what he wants them to do in his experiments.
Appearance
*Will be updated as various ‘personae’ are implemented.
As ‘Karlheinz’, at least as most of his sons know him: A pale-haired, golden-eyed figure who dresses in extravagant capes. His hair falls past his knees in waves and he looks absolutely ethereal.
As ‘Reinhart’, the school nurse, he is pale with blond hair wrapped into a ponytail and wears glasses.
Personality
One of the most powerful creatures in the demon world, he is viewed by the vampires (the bat clan) as a God. Which may or may not affect his personality, but the fact is that it is universally understood that a man that’s over 2000 years old is in want of a new life goal. Or death.
INTELLIGENT AND MANIPULATIVE: Karlheinz rarely directly engages these days, usually pulling strings in the background. He manipulates for the better and for worse, only determined to get closer to his personal goals. If that heals some and hurts others, so be it.
AFFECTION: It’s well-known that demons do not experience the same emotions as humans, or at least, they do not act on nor feel them the way humans would. Even within the “emotions” and “bonds” of demons, Karlheinz is incapable of deep affectionate sentiments and believes that all demons are similarly incapable. He is obsessed with human emotions despite or because of his inability, glorifying them and incorporating them into his new demonkind 3.0 ideas. His inability to feel this deep affection doesn’t save him from confusion and hesitant behavior on the rare occasion his plans and experiments are not succeeding.
It’s worth noting that he is considerably kinder when engaging with humans, as he blatantly punishes his own kind for their very nature (of which he is entirely aware). However, humans break much more easily, so this may be a necessity for engaging those tools compared to his sons.
FAMILY: His sons, wives, etc. are all tools and test subjects with which to create a new race and “save” the Demon World. If they become failed experiments, he has no issue disposing of them himself. When it comes to his kids, he’s extremely neglectful but does not hesitate to order their punishment when they displease him. He’s imprisoned Laito, sent Shuu to the North Pole, and tossed Subaru into the ocean. Most of his abuse was directly on his wives and directly affected how they would raise their sons, however, for which most of the Sakamaki children loathe him.
PRINCE CHARMING: Karlheinz excels at charming and manipulating others. As with Cordelia, he promises everything to obtain them, spoils them, and then acts in whatever manner best executes his experiment.
History
Under construction.
Quick summary: Really good contender for ‘worst dad’ and ‘worst vampire dad’ awards.
Verses
Brief summaries of the verses for Karlheinz along with potential links for those less familiar with Diabolik Lovers but still want to interact with him. For the sake of keeping things clean, encouraging community-wide and cooperative storytelling in roleplay, and not letting things get too crazy, verses will be limited. More may be made over time as needed.

VERSE - HAUNTED DARK BRIDAL
Karlheinz is...somewhere. Doing things. Like usual.
*This verse will be typically be the default, 'main verse'. In this, it is assumed that Yui Komori is staying at the Sakamaki household with some version of the first game having taken place. If the second game is included, it's with the idea that Yui stayed with the Sakamakis.

If for some reason it's absolutely necessary to differentiate between the verse above and a verse where More Blood has certainly occured, but Yui did not (at least initially) stay with the Sakamakis and instead is currently living with the Mukamis or was, until recently, still living with the Mukamis. Rivalry abounds and attempts to procure Yui are likely.

VERSE - MISC.
Posts that could take place in the Sakamaki or Mukami verses but involve duplicates (whether Yui or others) in the same scene in a manner that would be hard to pass off as typical flow for those verses. Also includes nearly ANY time fellow characters are staying at the mansion, otherwise we’d end up with verses of 20+ additional characters hanging out in the Sakamaki villa.

Trivia
Successfully cucked by Richter for years, but he kind of encouraged it to begin with so who really loses?
Can and will wear you out in the bedroom and leave you a flower to wake up to in the morning.
Gave Reiji a pocketwatch that shows how much time is left until the end of the world. Demon world? Human world? Who knows.
Really just wanted to know if Shuu would actually fight back against polar bears when he sent him to the north pole. Now he knows.
“Even when he loses, he wins” is a theme with this guy. I hate him, too. I know.

OK, I do not know if it's okay to ask for something like this, but I'd love to read a yuri one-shot between Sunny and Yui. I love Sunny and above all I love your wonderful way of writing. ♡ However, feel free to ignore this request if you do not want to write something like that.
rubs hands together buddy, pal, you bet your ass i’ll write this for you i’m always down for writing Sunny/Yui stuff
Pairing: Sunny (my OC for all the new folks) x Yui
Almost everything started with necessity.
Neither the Sakamakis nor the Mukamis changed their routines for their human “guests,” so she and Yui adjusted, and adjusted with one another.
When they didn’t get fed enough at the Sakamaki mansion, Yui would approach Sunny, or vice versa, and they would go to the kitchen together. Even if nowhere in the mansion was safe - or ever would be safe - company was still reassuring.
In the Mukami household, things were different. The brothers ate two meals together a day, and if they didn’t show up to either breakfast or dinner, they wouldn’t eat. Their expectations were simple enough, but things were always different in practice.
Sometimes, Sunny just… didn’t want to deal with vampires. For once. Even the Mukami breakfasts and dinners, lighthearted as they were, weren’t without the undercurrent of tension that soured every vampire encounter she had. Being forced to spend so much time with them - when each second of proximity brought with it an increased risk of one of them deciding that she smelled good and that he was thirsty - could be excruciating.
Necessity forced innovation.
One evening, after Kou attacked them and left Yui tied to the balcony during a thunderstorm, after Yui had spent most of that afternoon sobbing into her pile of pillows, she told Sunny that she didn’t want to eat with the Mukamis. Sunny went to dinner alone, tucked a few pieces of bread into a napkin, and stuffed the napkin under her shirt.
It became their new routine, and before long that routine was a fine art. Sneaking food was easier with some of Ruki’s dishes than others, so they alternated taking trips to ask Ruki what was cooking in the kitchen. Bread was easiest to get out. Rice was more difficult, but not too risky. On the truly awful days, they risked shrimp tempura and sauteed vegetables.
Neither one of them was ever that hungry at any given time, so sometimes, a couple of dinner rolls or pieces of toast felt like enough. They started sneaking more food away and eating together, where they could talk over food without the Mukamis around. They would lay out their food, and Yui would sign a cross over her chest, and they’d dig in. It was a good tradition, and Sunny started to actually look forward to meals some days.
It had to come to an end eventually. All good things did here.
Ruki had stopped her after dinner, to ask why Yui had skipped a meal for the third time that week, and a dinner roll fell out of her sleeve. When he’d snarled and grabbed her shoulder, three more tumbled out from under her shirt.
The lecture, given to both of them, had been rough. Oddly, however, knowing their mealtime talks would come to an end hurt more than Ruki’s harsh words did. Sunny snuck a glance at Yui, who after months upon months of dealing with vampires wore her much-practiced remorseful expression as her hands trembled in her lap. Her heart thrummed in her chest. They took turns murmuring empty apologies during breaks in Ruki’s tirade until, finally, he’d sighed and dismissed them.
Sunny made sure to check on Yui later that night.
“I don’t know, it feels silly to be upset over something like this,” Yui told her, as she leaned back against her bed’s headboard. “It’s not that big a deal.”
She had known Yui long enough to see through that lie, but she held her tongue. “It still sucks. I liked eating together.”
“Me, too.” Yui nodded, solemnly. “We can still talk to each other, at least.”
Neither of them had anything to say for a while after that. Sunny hated when Yui talked like this. They both knew how pathetic her attempt at putting their situation through a rose-tinted lens sounded. At least they could still talk to each other. What a joke.
Yui inhaled, slowly, and dipped her head. “I think...” she began. “I think I’m upset because... meals mean a lot to me.”
Sunny stared at the ruffles in Yui’s canopy bed, eyes tracing translucent, delicate pink lines. She had no idea what to say, or what she could say to make things better, so she stayed silent.
“My father and I used to eat every meal we could together,” Yui continued. She twirled a lock of hair in her fingers. “I really liked doing that. We would cook together a lot, too. And just... talk about our days. It was nice.”
“It sounds nice.” Sunny hadn’t eaten with her family in a long time, but she could still remember - however fuzzy it was - eating cereal in the kitchen of their little apartment in Derry. It was a good memory.
“I feel a bit guilty telling you this. The Mukami dinners remind me of... my time with Papa, but... it’s different. They’re scary, and I don’t... I don’t feel like I’m really a member of their family. It’s stupid.”
Her head jerked up. “It isn’t stupid!”
“It is, though,” Yui insisted. Her eyes were glistening, obviously wet. “They’re feeding us, and Ruki puts a lot of time into the meals, and I like seeing how friendly they are with each other. Even if they aren’t... nice to me all the time. I shouldn’t be complaining about the dinners! I... I should be grateful f-for what I can get.”
“Yui. You’re crying.”
“I know.” She pawed at her face, sniffling. “I’m sorry.”
Again, she didn’t know what to say. Sunny shifted on the mattress and extended her arms, feeling incredibly awkward. “Would you... like a hug?”
Yui’s laugh was breathy and weak, but she barreled into her with surprising force, pressing her face into Sunny’s shoulder wrapping her arms around the startled girl’s back in a crushing bear hug. “Yes. Thank you.”
She was warm. “I-it’s not a problem. Really.”
“I’m going to get your shirt all wet,” Yui murmured, sounding apologetic. Sunny finally returned the hug, leaning into it and resting her chin on Yui’s head. The blonde sighed, burying her face in Sunny’s chest. “I shouldn’t be complaining so much,” she repeated. “Things could be a lot worse.”
Sunny leaned back, frowning. “I’m not sure I buy that. They could be hell of a lot better.”
Yui looked up at her, lips pursed. Her eyes were red and puffy and glistening. “You’re right about that. They could be. But-”
“Yui. Stop it.” Using a firm tone on her, especially when she was like this, hurt, but it was necessary, now. “You’re allowed to want something better than this.”
Her face scrunched up. “I know. I don’t want to ask too much, though.”
She couldn’t get upset with Yui, stubborn as she could be. “Are you happy here?” Sunny asked, gently.
Yui averted her eyes. “I’m not entirely unhappy.”
“C’mon, Yui. Are you happy living with these guys?”
Another sigh. “No. I’m not.”
“Then that’s not good enough,” Sunny said. “And you deserve more.”
“I don’t know...”
“Yui. Please. You’re a good person. You’ve never been anything but kind to me. You deserve a lot more than this. That’s for damned sure.”
Yui’s fingers clenched around the back of her shirt. “I think... I do believe that. I just don’t want to be greedy. There are... things could be a lot better, yes, but they... could also be worse, and... I’m scared. I don’t want to want for too much. And... where I want to be... happiness... that feels a long way off, now. I don’t want to wish for something so unrealistic that I can’t do anything but be let down.”
“It isn’t necessarily unrealistic.”
“I’m still scared to think about it, though.”
“I think about it all the time. It isn’t scary at all.”
Yui pressed her lips together and straightened her back, pushing away from the hug. She clasped her hands together in her lap, grimacing. Neither of them said anything for a little while, and the only noises in the room was an alarm clock ticking on the bedside table, and Yui’s wheezy breathing.
Sunny finally broke the silence. “When I get out, I take a plane back. I drink a ginger-ale on the flight, and eat so many cookies and pretzels that my stomach hurts for two days afterwards. But before all that, when I get off the plane, my mom, my friends, everyone I love... they’re all waiting for me in the airport.”
Yui peeked out at her from behind her bangs. “And after that?”
“I’m not really sure,” she admitted. “But... things end up okay. I may or may not go to university, but I find a job that I like, and, eventually, I rent a little apartment by the sea, and I grow raspberries in the windowsill. When I wake up, the air tastes like salt, and the birds are really loud... but that’s okay, too. It’s summertime, and there’s sun coming through my window, and I’m happy.”
“In that place, where you’re happy...” Yui began, then paused. She brushed her hair out of her face and wet her lips. Her eyes were still misty, but brighter than they had been. “Am I happy, too?”
Sunny smiled, leaned in one last time, and kissed Yui on the cheek. “Always.”

For @bullet-proof-bangtan
Thank you for being so patient with me. It’s seems as if all I’ve been doing is apologising but school isn’t easy haha
Also, this is really long, like at least 4k words!
Note: Since I could not find the character’s family name prior to becoming a vampire, I simply settled for the family name “Kizoku” (貴族 ((which is written as “taka zoku” ))which literally means aristocrat haha)
For Diabolik Lovers, I ship you with Ruki Mukami!
Ah, the prestigious (L/N) family. A family whose name was known worldwide through the production of formal wear along with engagement rings since the start of the early 1800’s. As of now, the company is being run by the great (F/N) along with his wife and daughter. Not much after his firstborn daughter was born, he arranged a marriage between her and the firstborn of a close friend of his. Since then, the (L/N) and Kizoku family have been closely knit and have been at each other's sides during another’s downfall
The young boy was indeed a child of high intellect however he was corrupt. He was extremely bratty, spoiled and believed he was the God that the servants must come to terms to his every beck and call. He believed that he had the right to berate them for being in such a low-ranking position. Hardly anyone understood how such an impudent child was born from such a kind man accompanied by his humble wife. Their son became sadistic and wallowed in the bliss of seeing the servants’ annoyance and misfortunes.
Unlike the boy, the brunette girl was nothing but kind. Unlike her betrothed, her parents paid no mind to her. She was simply a vessel to carry out the family business. Even if she were to fail, she had a replacement ready, the second child and firstborn son. Unlike the cynical and pompous male, she cared for the servants both in her and his manor and treated them with respect. They were nearly polar opposites and yet they managed to get along. The occasional outbursts of her fiancé would certainly startle her at times however, he would apologise, albeit hesitantly, with a flustered look along with a blush adorning his soft cheeks. All was well.
Until one night.
The young boy’s manor was ransacked by his servants. He looked for his parents, hoping that they would put a stop to them and yet he could not find them. Before he could wander too far to look for them, he was immediately pushed down by his old servants as they beat him senselessly. He screamed in pain and called out for his parents to come for him. He whined and whined until his throat was sore from screaming, his tear-stained cheeks red from crying so hard until he fainted.
Once he was brought back to consciousness, he looked for his parents only to be greeted by the hanging corpse of his father in the garden and a letter from his mother stating that she ran away with her lover and that she still loved him. How could she say that? She left him and his father and yet she still has the gall to state that she loves him? What a preposterous notion. And what about (Y/n)? Where was she? She promised that she would stay by his side, no matter what may come. So where was she? It was childish and selfish of him to turn his back on the brunette girl once he thought about it, however he was too overwhelmed with the flow of what happened, he was pissed. And he wouldn not be forgiving her anytime soon.
Little did he know.
His fiancée was in an equally not so ideal situation. Her father was drunk and was caught by her mother in the process of sleeping with another woman. Her mother, caught up in so much stress from the ideals of the company, the paparazzi, and the pressure of being a mother and a perfect woman, had decided to kill herself. She went to the balcony of the chambers that held most of her jewellery and threw herself off. Once her father had finished from his activities, he proceeded to berate his eldest child. He screamed, cussed, and even abused her. In his drunken state, he poured out his true opinions towards his life, his slutty wife, and his mistake of a daughter. She attempted to stop him which only fuelled her father’s anger. In a fit of rage, he kicked her out of her own home. She hit her tiny fists onto the rose oak doors and yet it didn’t open. She roamed the streets and was made fun of other nobles that were were in the vicinity and mistook her for another street rat. She winced and was suddenly reminded of her fiancé, Ruki. What would he think of her now? He did not seem to enjoy her presence very much in the first place, so how would he react now? Is he alright? Is he eating well? Is he lonely? Is he still reading one of his books again? She thought about him. Even when she was on the street with no sign of anyone who would care for her, no sign of anyone to give her shelter nor food, she worried about him. She wished she was alright.
A few months after wishing for someone to take care of her, she realised that she needed to act. She understood perfectly that no one would come to her aid anytime soon and so she stole food from the stalls, she did what she could to survive is all. She got caught multiple times and was hit mercilessly and yet she didn’t stop. She came across another child like her, a dark-haired boy that reminded her so much of her fiancé, curled up tight in front of a stall with 3 kids bothering and berating him. A boy accompanied by two girls. You felt pity and anger. Pity towards the younger boy who must have done nothing to deserve such treatment and anger towards the children who would bother someone they thought was inferior to them. The brunette put on a strong and cold facade and approached them immediately.
“I take that would be enough. What even is the meaning of this? Don’t act like such children.” You commented whilst staying on guard in front of the frail-looking dark-haired boy. “Ey look Melissa! It’s one of ‘em kids actin’ like a noble! Let’s beat ‘em up as well!” The lone male said however you acted quickly. As a thief, you managed to learn from your mistakes and become more agile and alert. You took the “leader” down in a flash and sent a glare to the remaining two. The girls scurried away quickly, the other helping the limping “Justin” as they retreated and muttered under their breaths.
“Why...did you...help me?” You turned around to see the boy on the ground. You shook your head and extended your arm towards him. He took it hesitantly and got up. “Anyone would have done similar. It’s called being a decent person. Anyone who merely spectated isn’t much of a person.” You fixed your skirt, that had sustained a considerable amount of patches from the number of times it tore apart and walked away. “Please...may I...stay with you..?” He asked pitifully. You thought about it. In all honesty, you were going insane without conversing with anyone. You were simply trapped with your own thoughts that weren’t so pleasant. You weighed out the pros and cons of the situation at hand and decided to have him accompany you. He smiled, although faintly, and followed you.
You had taken him under your care as the two of you would steal bread from stalls to survive in the cruel world. Whenever Azusa was caught, you had took it upon yourself to absorb the blows directed towards him. In the end, you two would still have your bread as the smaller child apologised repeatedly. You forgave him instantly and explained to him that you meant to do that. And you would gladly do it for him again. Everything was fine until one day, you didn’t have the strength to defend him as you were overpowered by the store owner and the police. You were knocked out along with him and was sent to the orphanage.
You didn’t quite meet him immediately. It was already a few weeks in when you saw him.
Life in the orphanage was absolute hell. For sure, none of the children that flooded the vicinity ever dreamed of being in such a place but at least they had shelter. Those who thought they were more superior, however, thought that it would be alright to abuse those who seemed below them. The short-haired brunette along with Azusa had various encounters with such children. They couldn’t bear it any longer. You would catch most of the blows that were sent in your direction in order to protect the little boy you took into your care. The beatings wouldn’t stop until a saviour decided to tag along with you two.
A boy that seemed to be taller than the rest of the kids stood up for the both of you. The boy’s name was Yuma and he acted almost like a rabid dog as he barked insults at them along with his fairly long hair that was kept in a bun. He told them to ‘get lost’ and they did. He told you that they would never bother you and was the first to have treated you both with kindness. You found hope and smiled at him. You asked if he had a group that he was with and he told you that he had two other friends. You inquired if it would’ve been a bother to tag along with them and he shook his head.
He brought you to a corner where another dark-haired boy resided, reading his book and a blonde that was chatting with him. Your breath got caught in your throat as the boy seemed familiar. “Oi, Ruki! Kou! You think it would be fine to let them tag along?” Yuma asked. The young boy brought his nose up from his book to look towards the ‘newcomers’. When he saw you, his world stopped. His book dropped along with his eyes that were downcasted on to the floor. ‘What is she doing here? I thought she would’ve been alright. What happened? Where was she? Had she been in the slums the entire time?’ Thoughts flooded his head. His breathing went slightly ragged as he got up and stood in front of you. He was only slightly taller than you and yet you still felt intimidated. He seemed so...hollow. As if the boy that was so passionate about books and horses had somehow disappeared and only left behind an empty shell. The young boy looked into your eyes and bowed his head.
“I’m sorry.” Was all he said as he started to shake slightly. You took him into your embrace and patted his back lightly, as you did before when he was disappointed he couldn’t do what he wanted. “Why are you apologising?” “I wasn’t there to help you.” “And I wasn’t there to help you, so we’re even.”
You introduced Azusa to the group and they immediately welcomed him, along with you. The three decided not to question your history with the eldest and would instead inquire about somewhere in the future instead. The boys helped patch him up and he looked at them in awe. He looked at you and them and he thanked all of you for taking care of him.
Soon after, the five of you stuck together like glue. Constantly having each others’ backs and eating together. Almost like a family. You and Ruki had taught them how to read and educated them a little, they liked the idea of having the pair care for them. As if they had their parents that would guide and care for them. They had their fights that weren’t resolved quickly however in the end, they stayed as one. The group had devised a plan to escape their hell and would leave to find a place somewhere. Anywhere, as long as they weren’t where they were now.
Unfortunately, they were hunted down. They were shot down by the owners of the orphanage. The three boys were shot while the pair that was bound together were kept aside to toy with. Ruki was branded by them whilst the brunette was harassed. The both of them could not do anything to help each other. The pair screamed like that night they were abused and sent into the streets. They haven’t shouted like this in so long and they didn’t plan to ever again.
Once they came to, the brunette immediately hugged her fiancé, holding what remained of her torn rags together as she shielded her body from the boy and sobbed on his shoulder. The ex-aristocrat held her tightly and apologised repeatedly for his incomeptence. They both wondered where the rest were but they could barely move an inch and felt as if they would simply perish here. That was until he showed up.
He gave you both a deal. He would allow you and the rest to reborn as vampires, however, they would have to partake in a certain project of his. Out of desperation and hope for a new life, they had agreed. The five of them reunited and the long-haired gentleman offered them a mansion to live in. They were indebted to him and they were sure to be of good use to that project of his.
They continued where they had left off. The pair had become the leaders or rather the “parents” of the group and had educated and aided them as they’ve had before. The pair had taught them everything they needed to know in order to survive. They grew up in the household, did activities together and had even assigned rooms in order to keep each other’s privacy. As the group matured, they had become more close. More like a family. They had remembered the plan their saviour had informed them of and as the day of Eve’s arrival neared, they became more and more prepared.
You honestly didn’t know why you were needed. You assumed you were merely kept since it seemed as if you were important to the group, you served as their anchor. That man had deemed it necessary for you to be a part of their kind to stabilize them. And you had. As they started to mature, they had become much more head-strong and act before thinking. They became reckless and would cause chaos in the mansion however you were there. They all loved you. You were the one constant that kept them from fully turning into the monsters they truly were. You gave them a sense of humanity that they needed.
One night, you were preparing for dinner, like you had most of the time, to welcome Eve. The brothers had successfully returned her to the mansion and you found it necessary to keep her healthy. Despite the brothers becoming harsher, you maintained a strong sense of humanity. Surely you were slightly jealous of the attention she had gotten merely hours ago and yet you wanted to care for her. You made sure that it had everything she needed to intake to keep her body stable.
You felt a pair of arms wrap around your waist as you cooked and flinched a bit. You weren’t expecting company. Their head had made their way to rest on your shoulder as they inhaled your scent and exhaled deeply, slowly. A familiar scent filled your senses as you and the figure relaxed. You kissed his temple as his face was resting on your exposed shoulder, and focused back on the stove. You had the habit of kissing the brothers’ forehead as a term of endearment or affection. You took care of them of course, and you treated them like you would your future children. Most of them were younger than you so had found it only fitting to do so. Like a mother that loved her children so dearly.
The figure behind you moaned slightly from the pressure of your lips on his face. He kissed your shoulder in return as you continued to cook. He informed you of their plan and what was to happen. You hummed in response in between intervals to indicate you were listening to everything he said. He then detached himself from your body to admire your form from a slight distance. You sighed silently at the loss of contact but dismissed the notion quickly. “Is there anything I can help with?” Ruki asked and you motioned to the raw prawns on the other side of the counter. “You know how Kou is with food. I made a batch prior but I’m not sure if that’ll last long on the table.” The female giggled as her partner merely chuckled slightly, the latter proceeded to bread the prawns.
While Ruki was preparing the second batch, you went ahead and prepared the table with the first, a some salad and soup. You arranged the plates and added an extra plate for the guest in your household. At times like this, it really felt like a family. A family that almost neither of you had. The rest of the brothers don’t even remember their memories with their parents, let alone their mother and yet you filled up that role in their hearts just fine. You smiled to yourself and halted your movement. You thought that perhaps you should sit this dinner out. Surely they would want to discuss certain confidential matters with Eve. You removed one plate from the table and decided to let her sit on your seat.
Almost as soon as you disappeared, the brothers, excluding the one who was cooking, started pouring into the dining room. You checked in, told them you wouldn’t be eating tonight and excused yourself. They questioned it but understood your reasoning. They bid you a good night as you went back to your room. You knocked on the guest’s door and opened it when you received no response. You saw that she was still unconscious. You saw the bite marks on her neck and sighed. You touched them and they seemed to have belonged to the eldest Mukami. You checked her body temperature which seemed to have been cooler in comparison to her feverish state when you changed her earlier. That was good. You left a small note stating to go to the dining hall once she had recovered and that she should be careful.
You returned to your own quarters and sat silently. You felt..what word would be appropriate? Disappointed? Betrayed? Jealous? Is it not alright for a woman to worry about her fiancé? You felt guilty. This was all to pay back the man that has saved you from death and greeted you with a smile. How can you feel this way? It was selfish on your behalf, you thought, however it was most certainly not your fault that you seem to have fallen in love with your betrothed. But what if he wants to become Adam? And who were you to stand in his way? Simply having him by your side would be enough. Even if it was not how you imagined it, you must support him along with the rest of his brothers.
You supported them throughout the course of Yui’s stay and you would be the one to patch her up while she was unconscious. You’ve had brief encounters with her when she was conscious and she was surprised to see a feminine face. She asked who you were and you were quick to dispel any of her worries. You simply told her that you have been taking care of her since her stay and she immediately thanked you for your kindness. She was a sweet and caring girl. She was so..human. Something you’ve missed. She reminded you so much of yourself that you started to worry. What if she were to take your place? You weren’t the type to be so shaken by another’s “rivalling” presence since you never had to but you couldn’t help it. You kept your conversations to a bare minimum. Who knows? Perhaps the brothers did not want her to talk to you.
You still talked and took care of the other brothers and yet you couldn’t seem to look at Ruki as much. Why did it matter to you so much? All of them have surely bitten her at some point, hell, even you were tempted to however held back. Were you overthinking it? He also seemed to distance himself from you, why? Was it because you were no longer interesting? Was it because she was much more lively and caring than you? Perhaps he no longer wanted to deal with a secondhand person now that he had someone much purer in every context in his midst. The thought alone terrified you to the point your heart felt so heavy, you couldn’t breathe. Such thoughts would always plague your mind when you were alone, which nowadays seem to be almost all the time.
Nevertheless, you continued your duties as a part of this family. You took care of Azusa’s bandages, helped with the garden, and critiqued Kou’s performance power.
However, there was this one time. It seemed as if the eldest’s scar had been feeling rather irritating. You knocked on the door and entered, not realising he was in the room. You had washed the towels and have come to return his. Instead, you were greeted with his bareback. His scars more sickening than how you remembered it. You haven’t seen it and did not wish to see it again as it will only remind you of the time you had not been there for him. “Entering a room without receiving a response is quite rude, now isn’t it (y/n)?” He commented with a small smirk as he took the towel from your arms. “I didn’t think you would be in your room.” You answered quietly and offered to help disinfect his scars, silence resonated within his room signalling his contemplation. They didn’t look nice at all but you wanted to help. He gave in eventually and allowed you to sit on his bed. You admired his back and stared at his broad shoulders. His slightly muscular build made you blush, dirty thoughts invading your mind. You quickly dismissed them and started to do your job.
Once you had finished, you let your fingers linger on his back. His skin was so smooth, a contrast to the rough marks. You couldn’t help but feel guilty. You were there. Right in front of him and yet you didn’t do anything. Yes, you were in an equally traumatising situation at that time however what happened to you would not leave any marks as they had on him. You sighed and kissed his scars.
You heard his breath hitch in surprise however he didn’t make a move to stop you. He simply basked in the bliss of feeling your affection, the affection he had forgotten after he had obsessed over repaying his debt to him. It was nothing, in all honesty, and yet simply feeling your lips on his body shook him to his bones. It was so innocent and yet so...intimate. They were only gentle pecks on his back and yet he felt so filthy to be receiving such gestures that held a pure intention. It was something he had never dreamed of experiencing and yet he felt as if he had craved such contact from you. He felt special. You made him feel wanted despite knowing who he was. It wasn’t like him to feel so vulnerable around anyone and yet he felt so at ease around you. Perhaps you were given special abilities to calm the soul? You welcomed his flaws with open arms and wanted to see past his horrbible attitude. He stifled a moan as he felt your hand shift towards his shoulders to grip them slightly, Your hand remained stationary on the upper sides of his arm. He held your hand and only the had you realised what you had done.
“I’m sorry. It wasn’t in my place to that! And I’m sorry. For not being to stop them from doing this to you.” You clenched your hands together and shut your eyes. You had expected to be kicked out of his room like you had a few times the days prior. You felt his hand rest upon your fists and his lips on your forehead. “It is in your place to do that. It may have been long ago, however you are still my betrothed. As for what happened that night-“ he stopped as he stood up and pushed you onto his bed to lay flat. You fell with a plop and an almost inaudible gasp left your lips. He crawled atop of you and smirked. He had you in his arms and he did not intend to let you out of his reach nor sight anytime soon. He had wanted this for so long and yet he never acted upon his urges. He was too focused on the expectations of their saviour that he had stopped himself from doing anything. Naturally, he wouldn’t let this opportunity slide. “Words are merely empty promises, you should act accordingly. Would you like to show me how truly sorry you are?” He said before crashing his lips on to yours. He wanted to be gentle with you. After all, you deserved only the best and the memory of you crying out for help on that night that you had been assaulted plagued his mind more than the origins of his own scars. In time, his scars will heal however he wasn’t sure if he could heal yours too, therefore he’ll go as slow as he can possibly be. Ensuring only comfort for you. He kissed your neck as you choked on your voice, failing in your attempt to stifle your moans. He chuckled darkly and looked in to your eyes, finding the depths of your souls to become one with his before your bodies were bound together.
The night was still young however it felt as if it wouldn’t be by the time you two were to finish. What may come after tonight the two of you will deal with after. For now, you focused only on each other.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Needless to say, I got carried away. I hope you enjoyed this anyway! It took a long time to do but at least it’s out!
Send in your request lovelies!
Shopping Tour
The mall was buzzing as always. It all hit me when we walked in: the noises and smells, foreign faces everywhere. I yearned to sneak into a quiet bookstore corner but it would have been rude to slip from the company right from the start.
"Kou, can you take our photo before we hit the shops?" Christine's voice heckled my thoughts. I turned around. A photo?
"Eh? So demanding, Kujaku-chan!" Kou-kun frowned. "I already brought you all here and haven't been compensated for that~"
Well... Kou-kun wasn't wrong. But actually taking a photo wasn't that big of a task. Sometimes he seemed a bit unreasonable. Yet, I didn't voice out my thoughts. No one needed to hear something like that.
To my surprise, Christine broke into a smile. "I will cook for you later. It's a promise. Brother Ruki said I can use the kitchen."
Oh! That was sneaky! Christine had been prepared for Kou-kun's give-and-take attitude beforehand, hadn't she?
"Better be Vongole then~"
Of course, Kou-kun wanted that... I shifted in place, glancing at the others. None of them raised any complaints, but the mere thought of the said dish made me nauseous. It had been like this ever since... autumn.
I stepped closer. I had to say something... "Umh... the smell makes me..."
Suddenly, Eri took my arm and shook her head, making me blink.
"Maybe you can eat something else, Yuriko." Eri smiled. "We can have another dish. You and I haven't been hanging out alone for a while, so we could make something for ourselves before Christine prepares the Vongole."
I could feel how relaxation swam through my body. "Thank you, Eri. Let's do that after this shopping tour. I probably need to eat by then anyway."
Kou-kun seemed to be happy with that. "That's settles it. Gimme your phone, Kujaku-chan."
"There you go, Kou." Christine handled her phone. Just like that! I wouldn't have dared to do that. You never knew what others would...
"Okay, everyone, get ready~" Kou-kun swayed his hand but then his eyes wandered. "Nice home screen, Kujaku-chan~"
Just what I had feared! But Christine didn't seem bothered.
"Hurry up," Kou-kun demanded again.
Kazemi, who had been rather silent for the whole drive to the mall, now shifted right next to me. "Why do I have to...?"
"Kujira-chan... come on. Just move closer to Yuriko-chan. And try to smile, at least." It seemed that Kou-kun was rather used to giving these kinds of instructions. "And Usagi-chan, take off those sunglasses. Why are you wearing them anyway?"
Eri sighed but lifted her sunglasses on her hair. To be honest, I had been wondering why she wore them sometimes even inside buildings but it had never occurred to me to pry about it.
On my other side, Christine was changing her posture. Hastily, I tried to follow her example.
But my movements only made Kou-kun shake his head. "...Yuriko-chan, what are you even doing?"
I looked down at my body. Ruki never complained when he took my photos — though sometimes I ended up looking a little funny in those.
"Hmph. Just hurry up, Kou." Kazemi gave the Vampire a glare.
"Mean, Kujira-chan~" Kou-kun chuckled. "And you can fix that posture, can you?"
"I didn't ask—"
This was getting awkward. Yet, once again, I swallowed my opinion but met Eri's gaze behind Kazemi's back. Somehow, I felt like Eri silently agreed with me.
"Look at Kujaku-chan. She knows how to strike a pose."
Eh? Kou-kun's words made me blink. That had been exactly what I had tried to do. It hadn't worked out for me. So would it work for Kazemi either? Christine was just another level with something like this.
Again, Eri met my gaze and then turned to look at Kou-kun. "Can you be done with the photo, Kou? I want to head for the art supply store."
"Haa... fine. But don't blame me if it doesn't turn out nice."
I hurried to take a pose at the same moment as Kou-kun lifted Christine's phone.
"Everyone, say cheese~"
Can we send shippy memes / etc.? Sure, we can still explore what-ifs, drabbles and oneshot threads, but the main focus will be on the storyline here!
Can we know about ______’s past before interacting? No, not unless you have genuine reasons for it like being one of his brothers.
Can we have characters comment on the events of the timeline? Yes, if they “catch sight of”, “overhear a rumor”, “a familiar saw X”, or any other sensible reason, then characters can be aware of and comment on events. I wholly encourage characters participate in the character’s life! Please tell the story with me!
Can we rescue _________ from the Mushiro household?
Can we reference interactions we’ve had with one of the Mushiros (or the housekeeper), etc. to your other muses? I mean...sure? If you want? There may be exceptions to this, but for the most part, go right ahead.
Verses
Brief summaries of the verses for Kanato along with potential links for those less familiar with Diabolik Lovers but still want to interact with him. For the sake of keeping things clean, encouraging community-wide and cooperative storytelling in roleplay, and not letting things get too crazy, verses will be limited. More may be made over time as needed.
Summaries:
| DL Anime | DL More Blood Anime | Haunted Dark Bridal | More Blood | (Coming Soon)
VERSE - HAUNTED DARK BRIDAL
*This verse will be typically be the default, 'main verse'. In this, it is assumed that Yui Komori is staying at the Sakamaki household with some version of the first game having taken place. If the second game is included, it's with the idea that Yui stayed with the Sakamakis. Whether Kanato or one of his brothers winds up obtaining the Sacrificial Bride, Kanato’s life continues.
Verse Details | Tag: #V; KANATO; HAUNTED DARK BRIDAL
VERSE - MORE BLOOD
If for some reason it's absolutely necessary to differentiate between the verse above and a verse where More Blood has certainly occured, but Yui did not (at least initially) stay with the Sakamakis and instead is currently living with the Mukamis or was, until recently, still living with the Mukamis. Rivalry abounds and attempts to procure Yui are likely.
Verse Details | Tag: #V; KANATO; MORE BLOOD
VERSE - MISC.
Posts that could take place in the Sakamaki or Mukami verses but involve duplicates (whether Yui or others) in the same scene in a manner that would be hard to pass off as typical flow for those verses. Also includes nearly ANY time fellow characters are staying at the mansion, otherwise we’d end up with verses of 20+ additional characters hanging out in the Sakamaki villa.
Verse Details | Tag:#V; YUU; MISC
SITUATIONAL VERSE TAGS
#V; YUU; UNIVERSAL
Posts that can easily be assumed to have occured in either the Sakamaki or Mukami verses, typically answering asks, etc. that aren’t directly related to events unique to their timelines.
#V; YUU; WHAT IFS & #V; YUU; ONESHOTS
Likely reserved for one-off threads exploring a “what if”, a romantic meme that would otherwise be inappropriate, etc. If a meme doesn’t quite fit with one of the existing timelines, it’ll get one of these.
𝔼𝕧𝕖𝕣𝕝𝕒𝕤𝕥𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕊𝕡𝕒𝕣𝕜 ~𝔻𝔸ℝ𝕂 05~
Summary: Yui and Chiyo bond?
Word Count: 1395
Chiyo huffed when she finally unloaded the books on one of the tables in the mansion’s study. She ended up taking a bunch of biblical essays with her, as well as some books that seemed to have biblical themes.
She took a moment to gather her thoughts on a sheet of paper. What did she know so far?
Dreams about Lilith, Adam and Eve, a new group of Vampires that suddenly appeared in town, her being sent to this mansion as well as a car crash…
Were these related? What would the Mukami family have to do with all of this? Absentmindedly she started to bite her lower lip, a horrible habit to have when you were a Vampire with fangs. She drew some blood.
Her train of thought was interrupted by a tap on the shoulder. Chiyo jerked her head up to see who was standing behind her.
It turned out to be Yui.
She really needed to work on being more conscious about her surroundings now that there were so many people she’d rather avoid. Looking up at the girl with a defeated sigh, she asked:
“Did you need something?”
“I’m sorry, I called out to you, but you didn’t answer, that’s why I came closer.”
“I did not ask about that, did I?”
“Right,” Yui said, “I wanted to apologize. For what happened on the rooftop the other day.”
Chiyo frowned but made no attempt to stop the other girl from continuing her monologue.
“You see, there was never anything between Shuu-san and I, I’m sorry if it seemed that way. And it looks like the two of you used to be very close, so I just… wanted to say that you don’t need to be worried about me liking him or anything.”
Chiyo rolled her eyes.
“I have more important things to do than worry about whatever sick play Shuu is into these days.”
“Are you sure? You seemed quite upset yesterday…”
Could it be that Yui was genuinely trying to make sure that Chiyo was doing okay? She couldn’t tell, such a thing was as foreign to her as the idea of working out was to Shuu. Quite honestly, the incident did bother Chiyo, but right now she felt as if she could put that thought away and focus on something more important.
“Listen, it’s complicated, okay?” Chiyo said.
She saw Yui fumble with her hands, visibly in thought.
“I have time to listen, if you’d like to share it after all,” she said.
Chiyo has never spoken about what had happened between her and Shuu with anyone. At the same time, she didn’t feel like she trusted Yui enough to start baring her soul now.
She eyed the girl warily.
“It’s just, it helps talking about things sometimes. But I understand that you might not want to talk about it,” Yui said.
“Well, we’re not exactly friends, are we?”
“Do you think we could be?” Yui asked. A bit too eager.
Chiyo never had a friend before. Shuu and she started out as friends, if she thought about it, but she never got along with any girls in the other world. Eventually she just accepted the fact that she was treated as an outcast. Truth be told, she never believed she needed anybody else but Shuu, he had been the center of her world ever since they became close. There was nothing else that she had use for when she had him. Only that now she did not have him anymore. She didn’t really have anyone.
But was it worth a shot to take the extended hand of the human girl in front of her?
“I don’t know,” Chiyo said, “I’ve never made friends before…”
It was embarrassing to admit it in front of Yui. She felt inferior to her, since she seemed like the kind of person that got along with most people. Yui probably had a lot of friends outside the Sakamaki mansion. Hell, she even seemed to get along with the brothers fine. As fine as someone could get along with them of course.
“That’s fine, there’s a first time for everything, right?”
Yui smiled her usual sweet smile. Part of Chiyo wanted to gag at how kind the other girl was, but part of her also felt grateful, relieved even.
“I suppose so…”
In the following days Chiyo decided that she might have to revise some of her conceptions about Yui. While she could be annoying at times with how much of a pushover she was or how she wanted to make everyone happy, Chiyo felt that she actually started to enjoy the girl’s presence.
It was nice to get her mind off Shuu and all the other things that have been happening lately. Maybe Chiyo has been too harsh on herself, trying to solve a mystery she might not even need to solve after all. Maybe she could just enjoy her time in the human world?
“Wow, Chiyo-san! You have so many perfume bottles!” Yui said in awe.
Chiyo had invited the girl to her room to spend some time. Yui has expressed an interest in Chiyo’s makeup skills before so Chiyo thought hanging out and doing some makeup might be fun for once.
“Oh, you know… gotta occupy yourself with something when you have an eternity to live,” Chiyo said sheepishly.
In truth, her obsession probably stemmed from everyone always pointing out her non-vampiric smell. Though she also liked the cute bottles.
Yui looked at all of them, her eyes stopping on a bottle that looked a little bit different from the others. A dark but semi translucent fluid in a clear bottle stood on Chiyo’s vanity. It had no label but a very intricate seal.
“What’s that one– “
She was about to reach for it when Chiyo pushed her hand away.
“Don’t touch that!”
The girl flinched and Chiyo’s eyes widened. She didn’t mean to raise her voice like that, but she also didn’t want Yui to touch this highly valuable flacon of demon essence.
“I’m sorry I– “
“No, I am sorry, I didn’t mean to... yell,” Chiyo said.
She placed the perfume bottle back on her vanity with a sigh.
“This is demonic essence; I use it to mask my human scent.”
“Human scent?”
Chiyo sighed again and looked at Yui with a tired expression. She motioned for Yui to sit down and took a seat opposite of her. For a moment she looked at her own reflection in the vanity mirror before speaking up:
“My mother was a human, but I suppose one of the others already told you as much.”
Yui nodded, a rather serious expression on her face.
“I don’t know her or anything, she died when she gave birth to me. But her smell still follows me everywhere, or rather the mix of Vampire and human blood apparently makes for something actual Vampires detest. So, my father had this made for me.”
“I see,” Yui said, “it seems your father must really love you for custom making something like this for you.”
Chiyo shrugged. She remembered how the last interaction she had with him was him slapping her across the face without even removing the rings from his fingers. She and her father hardly had any common ground; this perfume was the only thing she was grateful for. Sometimes she wondered just what kind of lunatic her mother must have been to have fallen for such a creature.
She turned towards her vanity once more, gathering a bunch of makeup products in her hands, before dipping a brush in sparkly eyeshadow.
“Anyway, enough of this depressing chit chat, hold still, okay?”
The girl’s skin looked smooth even up close. Chiyo wondered why so many people, well... the Sakamaki’s mainly, commented on Yui’s bad appearance, when it was perfectly fine. Sure, maybe a bit dull because she never went out of her way to actually do anything special about it, but she could definitely work with that. She couldn’t help but drag a finger along Yui’s cheek.
“Wow...” she muttered.
“C-chiyo-san? What... are you doing...?”
Her flushed cheeks were kind of adorable, Chiyo chuckled. “I was just admiring your soft skin, not a blemish in sight,” she said, “Don’t worry, I’m not out to bite you. Now really stop squirming or it will mess everything up.”
