(SPOILERS FOR BOTH THE PODCAST AND THE SHOW UNDER THE LINE. LIKE FULL ON SPOILERS. DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO HAVE EITHER OF THEM HEAVILY SPOILED. Also a little spoiler for the book, but nothing as major as for the other two)

I feel like I'm gonna say something controversial, but - I prefer the story of the podcast version of TEOS to the TV show.

I love The Moobles. And the darkness of Dave unfortunately stabbing himself in his sleep. I love Katie's and Dave's relationship seeming more equal, with both of them still deeply caring about each other.

Don't get me wrong, the TV show Katie is great, and had very valid reasons for leaving him, and bashing him with a bat. But that doesn't change the fact that I liked more that they were open with each other, that she knew everything about Dave, that she saw that she wouldn't make it and locked herself in the van (TV show Katie would probably do that, too, if they knew about the possibility of sleepwalking).

I like that podcast Dave didn't accidentally kill a doctor at the age of 5. Little too dark if you ask me. Unintentional self-mutilation at 16 feels less mentally scaring. And the doctor was so creepy (maybe it's just that I hate the 90's vibes so much that I am projecting it onto the doctor, but he was still weird).

I miss the trespasser storyline. Yes, he was a serial raper and killer, and a horrible person, but I honestly liked the part of the podcast where Dave got shot (nothing better than your favourite characters always suffering, am I right my SPN family?).

I miss the little bit of banter between Dave and the old man, and him asking for cigarettes.

There are still things I like a lot in the TV show, don't get me wrong.

Matteo's and Dave's friendship is more... Visible. Or them actually being better friends. It's so great. And I'm happy Matteo survived. But I also (purely from a storytelling point) liked that he died, that Dave lost so damn much already, and BAM! another friend is gone.

The title sequence is beautiful, I listen to I Go To Sleep on repeat when I'm not watching/listening to TEOS.

Of course, there's also the book, but I just started to read that, so not many thoughts on that. Except this: Matteo getting things wrong ("Michigan Man") and Dave correcting him ("Michelin") is awesome

WE DID IT!!! In 24 hours, with no marketing help from Amazon or QCode, we got The Edge Of Sleep to #6 on Amazon Prime’s TV page and #9 overall in the USA!!!

This is huge but we can’t let up! If nothing else, we need to honor Markiplier’s request to dethrone Judge Judy from her spot. Also we don’t want Amazon to think this is a fluke if the numbers suddenly drop off. So keep watching TEOS, keep getting your friends/family to watch it, keep posting and hash-tagging it. And definitely watch it on the “official” release day, Friday October 18th, in case Amazon only decides to care about “official” release numbers.

IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM OCTOBER 18th!!!

In a YouTube stream, Markiplier said that the powers-that-be (Amazon, I’m guessing?) are going to be looking at the show’s average performance over a whole 30 days.

So we’ve done a great opening performance for the show’s debut but we’re not out of the woods yet. It’s not a sprint but a marathon. Mark said it’s to be expected that the numbers fluctuate from day to day but the average of the next month will be what’s important.

So now that we have a clearer guideline, we’ve got a month of sleeedging ahead of us. Hopefully it will open internationally at some point (he made it sound like that was in the works) to boost numbers even more. But don’t lose faith! We’ve got this!
