There is a popular headcanon that Aurora stops talking to the crew and largely goes dormant after the events of Out. And while that's all well and good, it is a headcanon I know I enjoy and it's good that everyone is having fun with it, but it is far more likely that Aurora didn't begin talking to the crew until after the events of Out.

My evidence is the fact the crew (excluding Ivy) didn't know that Aurora and Nastya were lovers until the events of the Breakup story- which can be dated in the timeline by the fact Scuzz is present in it. Admittedly they did know Nastya had a sexual relationship with Aurora, but their knowledge of her sentience is debatable. Furthermore, in A Bedtime Story, Nastya is messing with Aurora speech/story parameters, and all the crew is acknowledged to be aboard (Scuzz is not a part of the list, but Tim, Raphaella, and Marius are, which date it pretty far ahead).

Or if you don't want to go with evidence from the writings, there is the very basic fact Nastya has to translate Aurora's desires to the crew in ouatis.

Nastya fulfilled all of Aurora's social requirements while she was aboard, but she also possibly created those requirements through her endless refinement of Aurora. Just like Aurora was likely Nastya's main connection to someone, too. When she goes Out, there is no one left for Aurora. She's trapped with too large of feelings now and nowhere to voice it.

Really, it's no wonder when she speaks to the crew for the first time, through the speakers she once transmitted Nastya though or through screens aboard. It's an acute horror for the crew to learn her only after she leaves. To learn Aurora as her engineer once did. To truly feel every bullet hole they put in her, every time they wrecked her, once her personhood is forced upon them.

They understand now, but that doesn't make anything any better. They understand, but Nastya is still gone and never coming back.

thinking about the period of time between the mechanisms performing DTTM and their deaths actually occurring...

thinking about how the mechanisms know how they die but they might not know when they die or in what order.

thinking about them trying to prevent each other's deaths. none of them wants to be the last to go.

raphaella begs the others not to leave marius alone on the ship. tim refuses to leave ashes's side in the hopes he can stop the accident from happening. brian pilots them around pockets of temporal instability and away from backwater asteroids. marius pleads with ivy not to retire. nobody talks about how they die in front of the toy soldier. they don't want to make it sad.

jonny selfishly seeks out bar fights, hoping this time it will finally be the one, and he won't have to watch his friends disappear one by one until a milllenia has passed since the last time he laughed. even if the others mourn him, he doesn't want to still be alive when the rest of his crew are all gone.

none of them know for sure who dies first, but they all know who they don't want it to be, and they all hope it's themselves instead.

The Toy Soldier’s eyes are open, it is in a purple sleeping bag. Raphaella has an eye mask. Ashes shirt says “Big Boss” with an arrow pointing down, Jonny’s has a graphic of a person on a horse and says “Save a horse, Ride a cowboy,” Raphaella’s says “Girls [heart] my autism swag,” And Brian’s has a picture of a wolf sitting like a man and says “Literally me.” The floor under them is covered in overlapping, patterned rugs. Hey, Ivy. I haven't got the first fucking idea, I stumbled on this site a few hours ago. Mostly just been trying to set up the thing and figure out how many of us are hiding on here. Murder though, I can help with that.

If you're going to be boring and non-bloody about it, then go for classic strangulation. He's really satisfying to choke out, he makes the funniest fucking faces. And it gets him to shut up for a bit.

Hell, thinking about it, maybe I'll go find my Marius now...

After Azran Legacy Descole was left with a lot of clothes, personal items, and various souvenir trinkets left behind by the other former passengers of the Bostonious none of which was ever properly retrieved due to the groups sudden parting.

Rather than throwing it all out Descole has been trying to covertly return all items back to their original owners and because it’s Descole he’s probably returning the objects and whatnot in the most complicated way possible over a period of time.

Auroras stuff in particular remains safely stored in a box on the Bostonious.
