aura crystals 🔮

aura crystals are crystals that have been coated with vaporized precious metal/s at a very high heat and within a vacuum to electrostatically bond them together, giving them the pretty iridescent shine you typically see with these crystals. [source]

common metals used for this process include gold, platinum, copper, niobium, silver, iron, titanium, magnesium, and nickel. [source]

although a lot of people dislike the idea of aura crystals because they are deemed man-made or have been disturbed in some way, i think they're a great example of how alchemy has transformed into modern physics and chemistry; it opens up a world of magical associations, properties, and additional qualities that didn't exist before the 1980s (multiple sources cite william mcknight as the original creator of the aura crystal in 1988; he sold the business in 2018 and it has since been acquired by new owners).

you can technically do this with any crystal, but for the purpose of this post, i am referring to aura quartz specifically - the composition of precious metals may vary between manufacturers but this is what i have come up with for some of the most common aura crystals.

Creating album cover

This is my second design idea of creating my album cover. All the images is original content that created by myself.

Firstly, I applied my sketch as the background for me easier to draw out the shape by following my initial sketch. The tool that I using to draw out the shape is called curvature pen tool which is very easy to apply on. I first draw out half of it then duplicated it to rotate and placed to other side, this way will help me to balanced it.

After that, I added a new layer of rose quartz & serenity images that I created above it to apply into the shape. To create this, it is a simple step by clicking ‘create clipping mask’ then the result will turn out like the images that I print screen. I also did some adjustment on smart filter to make it look more deeper.

Next step, I using the text tool to write the artist name ‘SEVENTEEN’ and album name ‘ 17 carat’ to add into my album cover. I write the album name ‘carat’ separately as this will be easier for me to move the word on my next step. Firstly, I using the polygonal laser tool to draw a shape of the part that I don’t need of each word and using the eraser tool to erase them. Then, I just using move tool to move each word besides each other to make it look like are connect.

I add a new layer of the another style rose quartz & serenity images to apply into the word. By using the same techniques, I just clicking on ‘create clipping mask’ then it will turn into the word. This tool is very useful and simplicity. Afterwards, I using the composition which I open the grid to help me move the word and shape in the right position.

Lastly, I add a new layer of the hologram images that I created as my album cover background. As I don’t want the color look dark thus I did adjustment on brightness/contrast, vibrant and saturation to make the color more shallow and less colorful than the original.
