Tech and Omega Swap AU : EPISODE 5
s1ep5 changes/notes
(baby boi Tech doesn't have his name yet, but I'm using his name for simplicity)
Similar to the show, Tech is given Crosshair's old comlink. He fiddles around with the buttons and settings and Echo tells him it is not a toy, to which he replies, that of course it is not a toy, and lists some of the specs
When the Batch get to Ord Mantell, and go to find Cid, Omega comments on the less-than-sanitary conditions of the bar. Tech stares at Cid for a while before stating that she is who they are looking for. The batch bargain with Cid, like in cannon, and when Cid says Tech is the brains of the operation, Tech responds that he is quite intelligent, but is by no means the leader of the team
While on the mission, Tech asks about the slave traders, and Omega explains that slave traders treat people like property. Tech is confused, as it neither legal nor morally correct. Omega and Echo try to comfort Tech, promising that they're going to rescue Muchi. Omega and Hunter survey the terrain, noting the entry points and lookouts. Tech is upset when he is told to return to the ship
On the ship, Tech modifies the trooper doll (like Omega does in cannon) and it looks similar to Tech's s1 armor from cannon. He mentions to Gonky that he would like to modify some actual armor for himself, but this was good practice. Tech hides and then slips out of the ship (like Omega does in cannon). He sneaks over to look for his siblings
When Hunter says they need to contact Tech, and when Echo is grumpy about not having their comlinks, Omega replies that the won't need a comm, gesturing to Tech. Hunter tries to signal to Tech to escape, but Tech cocks his head to the side and throws out some hand signals. "He... just signed [plan #]**?" Hunter is confused. Omega laughs, "That would work here. When did he learn our plans?"
Tech successfully makes it to the crate and unlocks it before being captured. He does state "I wasn't sneaking, I was unlocking."
Tech and Omega help the slaves escape before returning towards the battle. A slaver or two jump out at them, and after dealing with them, Omega offers Tech her D-17 blasters for protection, saying they were a good size for him. He asks what she will do, and she responds that she'll find something. As Tech runs ahead to the squad, Omega smiles and takes a bow from one of the slavers
It is Echo who tells Wrecker that rancors have a hierarchy, and maybe challenging Muchi would work. After Wrecker tames Muchi, Tech states that the creature is fascinating
They return to Cid and the rest of the episode would be pretty similar to cannon
**whatever number, this plan means release the cargo

182 Days of TPN - Day 128
Chapter 128: "I've Decided"
I love Emma so much for this. She agrees that the annihilation would be a smart way to ensure that their family can live safely and happily in this world, but it is by no means the best way to reach that future. I understand Norman's drive for revenge on the aristocrats and those who play an active part of keeping the farm systems running, but the whole method to achieve that is just morally wrong, especially to attack those who are innocently going about their days as normal. (during this part of the conversation, the anime has "Existence of an Insider" playing, which famously played in s1ep5 when Ray reveals he's a double agent to Norman, so it's almost like roles switched in regards to whom we're supposed to be cautious about.)
She also agrees that escaping into the human world may be dangerous for them as well since they dunno how well they'll be accepted there, but still wishes to take that chance. Their whole journey up to this point was full of risks, optimism and resolve, so naturally Emma is willing to put her beliefs into such an iffy idea. All that is quite similar to her reasoning later in ch178 when they're all about to cross over actually and if it was for this recent ask I may not have thought about this just now. (perhaps that's another reason Ray chooses to trust in Emma so strongly, as he's heard her speak similar truths before during this moment.)
Anime is wild for having Norman make a comment like that. Naturally I love Ray getting angry at him for it.
Lowkey funny to me how it's the thought of not having Emma smile anymore that causes Norman to be like "oh wait, I certainly can't have that," and proceeds to talk through the situation more openly about a sort of compromise.
Maybe I'm the idiot, but how would you exactly defeat the demons without killing them? It's not like you could mortally wound them since they'll regenerate quickly, yeah? (unless we're chatting about Norman's drug that has yet to be revealed, since that forces them to degenerate. though that'll still lead them to death, just slowly. idk. this is why i write these out days beforehand so i can think and try to make sense of random shit like this.)
Norman, I regret to inform you that you're in a fantasy type manga. Impossible things are gonna happen no matter what you wanna believe.
He goes through this whole spiel about the Seven Walls being a total mystery and claims there's absolutely no proof of the place actually existing and Emma fires back telling him they've basically found the entrance already and it's such a perfect in-your-face moment for her and I love it.
The way her grip tightens on him.. aahh she wants to take the pressure off him so badly so he can just be Norman again instead of the WM persona and it hurts!
Hug her! Hug her, you fool! She needs many hugs!
How can you expect to her relax with that fake smile on your face? If ya wanted to be convincing you should've just HUGGED HER. (i'm surprisingly passionate about this moment suddenly, dunno why.)
Perhaps it because it didn't happen in the anime that I'm fond of the embrace now? Instead we get Emma just reaching for his hand.
And after she asks Norman if the annihilation is truly what he wants and if it's tough carry everything by himself, he simply replies with "no" followed by the below. Like damn boy, and here I thought manga Norman was being harsh.
Spoilers: he did, in fact, not think about it when Emma returned. In his defense, she arrived a bit too late. But also in her defense, a lotta things happened at the Seven Walls.
Enjoy the brief happiness while you can.
My boy gets sidelined so hard during this chapter that despite all the chatter that's going on, he only got about seven total speech bubbles.
Favorite panel/moment:
I'm afraid Norman fails to understand that Emma is gonna make her own agreement between them whether he likes it or not.
I absolutely love the way Norman freaks out, even if it's definitely a valid concern about if they could actually return from the Seven Walls. C'mon boss, this is Emma we're talking about here, of course her plan is gonna be reckless. He should've expected that.
She's got a fair point about the first Ratri being able to return. And I'll never get over how she thinks this task/burden she volunteers for is simple. Emma is amazing. Crazy, but we love her.
In the anime it had the trio agree to find Sonju & Mujika instead (since the Seven Walls really don't exist in that silly adaptation) and I did kinda enjoy the quick banter between Emma & Norman about how many days the search should be. Not including anything else here though because this is longer than intended and I am very tired.

this might be too niche but i keep noticing how the sci-fi/fantasy shows i watch use the same actors! not for main roles but episodic ones— currently watching s4ep10 of Merlin and guess who the little boy spirit is played by? none other than young Martin Chatwin from The Magicians!! s1ep5 of iZombie has both Bradley James and Summer Bishil…. i’m sure analyzing crew members will show overlaps too, it’s mad cool to think abt a community of artists working together to make all these shows
#now for me to become part of this community…… yes#bbc merlin#the magicians#martin chatwin#izombie#bradley James#summer bishil

s1/ep5 notes
i can offer nothing further or nothing coherent about the sublime beauty of the first minutes of s1ep5, or the hug in the classroom
I have read various insights about the lake, but this episode really leans into the light from the lake in a way i hadn’t noticed before. Wille gets ‘caught’ in the light coming off the lake several times - when he finds out from August and the guys there is a crisis re Alexander, then when he and Simon are fighting in the godforsaken music room. When Wille goes full-selfish-what-will-happen-to-my-reputation, it’s all “lake light” revealing his ugly true colours. But then the light off the lake when he’s with simon on their-water-is-cold-walk is the same — and he is in love. so i think the lake is doing something about ‘clarity and honesty of emotion’ - rather than it being specifically positive / negative / about Simon. Also there is a poster of a lake on the wall in frame when w and s talk in classroom at Lucia.
And on this, Sara is an interesting foil - b/c she is often startingly and painfully honest about emotion. the lack of games / artifice / manipulation shows when she gets that message from her father; she just hands the phone to Felice. and then she props herself up against Rousseau - she never does this otherwise, it’s a kind of full-body warm support, you could practically feel is breath or heartbeat through your spine - as she’s informing Felice that her father is nothing like a pillar of strength in her life, but actually the thing that has taken them all down. No surprise he shows up as a surprise on the night simon’s life ends as he knows it.
the tentative tightwalk to friendship between Sara and Felice, Sara i adore you.
further to august’s red and black sweater from s1ep4, it turns out the dress that Felice lends her is red and black. is this a way of ‘transferring’ August to her?
i’ve always adored the moment that sara blinks her eyes open in disbelief at the weekend dinner: “I can’t believe i’m here. is this what it feels like to belong?”
i hadn’t seen that august had actually taken a chocolate from Annette, and that he didn’t eat it, but he fingered it, like it was some temptation he couldn’t have (not unlike, Sara and Simon both touch the photographs of A / W). it seems to subtly underline the eating disorder / self-denial / masochism story line.
Annette’s expression dealing with all these boys spinning their Bambi-eyed sob stories!! the whole time she’s thinking, “ffs i do not get paid enough to watch this, this is worse than daytime TV.”
nils grudgingly approves of Sara as Lucia!
god that shot of Sara against the lockers framed by the window onto the library, witnessing August. An essay in itself. 💜❤️💜❤️💜

TOP 5......BLACK BUTLER EPISODES
In no particular order because I can't possibly pick between favorite children:
The Tale of Will the Reaper (OVA) - for obvious reasons
His Butler, Chance Encounter (s1ep5) - also obvious reasons (okay maybe my top two really are the episodes where grell's messy love life is the focus, I can at least rank them that far)
His Butler, Fluent (s1e24) - sorry the fight between Ashgela and Sebastian and the lead-in to the final Lacrimosa will always get me
Crossroads Butler (s2e11) - picking my faves among season 2 is DIFFICULT, but this episode really encapsulates the interesting differences they created amongst the demons, and it drives home the difference between Ciel and Alois on their parallel but ultimately divergent paths
Deathly Butler (s2e7) - my son, my boy, my wonderful child Alois
Honorable mention goes to Terrorist Butler (s2e4) because that episode is better than drugs. It is probably the funniest thing that A-1 pictures ever created, with the exception of my other honorable mention, The Making of Kuroshitsuji II (OVA)
#lmao this was very difficult#I decided to exclude bom and boa because then it would have been impossible#asks#ask meme#kuroshitsuji#gremlin register

Rewatch: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, "Never Kill a Boy on the First Date" (S1Ep5)
Summary: Buffy has to try and stop an ancient prophecy…while on a date.
Written by: Joss Whedon, Rob DesHotel, Dean Batali
Directed by: David Semel
Aired: March 31st, 1997
WARNING: This episode contains spoilers.
I wish I could say that this was one of my favorite episodes so far, but I can’t. I can’t even say I liked it, because really, I hated it. Let’s jump in.
Recap: Buffy and Giles are in the cemetery. Buffy stakes a vamp, who leaves behind a ring that Giles takes to investigate. The next day, Buffy and Cordelia compete for the affections of Owen. Buffy goes to talk to Giles, and together they figure out that the ring belongs to the Order of Aurelius. Giles states that Aurelius spoke of an “Anointed One” who would be brought to the Master, but before he can finish Owen comes in. He and Buffy agree to meet at the Bronze that night, and Owen leaves. Giles tells Buffy that the Anointed is set to rise that night, and they must stop it. That night, Buffy and Giles wait in the cemetery, but it’s uneventful, so Buffy heads to the Bronze. She’s too late for her date, however, and sees Owen dancing with Cordelia. Meanwhile, a bus is coming into Sunnydale, and a strange man starts preaching about Judgement Day. Vampires attack the bus, killing everyone. The next day Owen asks Buffy why she never showed, and they agree to try again to meet tonight. Just before Owen comes to get her, Giles stops by her house and tells her that he might not have been too far off, and she should go check the Sunnydale funeral home. She ignores this and goes on her date with Owen, leaving Giles to investigate instead. He is attacked at the funeral home by the Order of Aurelius, and Willow and Xander rush to go get Buffy for help. Angel finds Buffy first and tells her about what’s going on, and when the other scoobies get to her, she reluctantly agrees to go look. They head to the funeral home, where Owen - unbeknownst to the others - follows them. Willow, Xander, and Owen lock themselves in the viewing room while Giles and Buffy look for the Anointed. The other three are attacked by the strange man, who has been turned into a vampire. Buffy comes just in time, and puts the vamp into the incinerator. The next day, Owen asks when he can take Buffy out again, but she turns him down.
Overall Thoughts: I meant what I said about hating this episode. I really, really did not like this episode. By the last half, I had to force myself to finish it. It just wasn’t that great, and my dislike of Owen definitely contributed to my whole attitude about this episode.
On a brighter note, there was something I liked about this episode. It returned us to the overall arc of the season: The Master. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the side episodes and the characterization it gave us, but it’s nice to see that it isn’t all witches and she-mantises.
I would save this for the characterization section, but because Owen isn’t a character we will see again, I’ll say it here. I hate Owen. He killed the whole episode for me, even though he was there to point out that Buffy trying to balance normality and Slayerdom is next to impossible. But mostly, he was just dull and annoying. He tries to come off as this deep and dark guy, but really if you wipe away some of that intrigue he feels a little bit like an excited puppy to me. And his thing with Cordelia. Oh my god, his thing with Cordelia. I’m not a fan of Cordelia this season, trust me, but Owen’s attitude and behavior around Cordelia is the worst. He seems to act like he’s above her, like because she is who she is and he is who he is, she’s someone to look down on. It’s really uncomfortable.
In that same vein, there is a scene that I hate. When Buffy and Cordelia are having this weird…competition for Owen’s attention, Buffy makes a snarky comment to Owen about Cordelia’s body. He, in turn, makes a comment of his own. I don’t love Buffy putting Cordelia down to impress a boy, but I definitely hate Owen doing it as well.
There’s also this running theme I’ve noticed in the last several episodes, and it’s starting to get old. This season, so far, has relied heavily on fake outs. The first scene we see in the entire show is one where you are led to think one thing only for it to be the opposite. I want to see them start to move away from that.
Also, the “gotcha” for the episode reveals that the weird preacher vampire Buffy killed was not the Anointed, but the little boy on the bus was.
Characterization: There aren’t any real comments on characters this episode, really, but I did want to take a second to point out that when Owen comes into the library, Giles seems genuinely offended that a stranger is in their space. He forgot he was a librarian for a high school, you guys. If I remember correctly this is a sort of running joke.
Facts: This episode is the first to include a fight between Buffy and a vampire in the opening scene.
David Boreanaz breaks character for the first and only time in the series while meeting Owen - at 28m26s.
Quotes: “In that case, I won’t wear my button that says, ‘I’m a Slayer, as me how!’” - Buffy Summers
Apocalypse Count: 1
Final Notes: Feel free to leave any comments, suggestions, or questions in the ask box!

Can't resist replying to these tags by @stygianirondiangelo
Ahhh I have more thoughts on him too! I've been all about ace Henry since s1 (written way too much fanfic of him) and I really embraced this hc since s2 provided so much more “proof” haha. Would love to read your thoughts on him (and on aro Felice), coherent or not!!
In the meantime, here’s a summary of the points in my longer post:
In s1ep6 he doesn’t seem interested in the Wilmon in bed part at all, he just talks about movie night. Then he even tries to distract Wille, which is nice of him - but also totally in line with him just not being that bothered.
In s2, he gets awkward when faced with sexual topics & behaviour. It’s a tired stereotype that all aces are like that but considering Henry is also quite awkward in other respects, the shoe fits well enough.
Especially his reaction to interrupting Wille and Felice in s2ep3 just screams “yikes I totally forgot that hookups are a thing, I just wanted to egg Sprucewood.”
In s2ep4, he clearly doesn’t want to tell the story again at lunch. It’s because Wille is right there, but that doesn’t mean he can’t also be fed up with everyone thinking it’s the most interesting news in the world and expecting him to tell it again.
His reaction in the sonnet scene is the strongest “proof” of all! He just looks so done with Vincent, the allos, all of it. Those couple of seconds alone are enough to justify this hc haha.
Demi/arospec sidebar: Despite the sonnet scene, he could still be on the aro spectrum too. The line about him not getting how the protagonist in the book can be in love with someone she hasn’t even talked to has some major demi vibes if you want to read further into it.
I genuinely don’t think it’s him kissing the girl in the corridor in s1ep3. The guy’s hair is way too long at the back and there are other guys with similar hairstyles, so there’s no reason it can’t be one of them.
In s1ep5, I just can’t see any sexual attraction on his side of the exam scene with Stella. To me it just reads as “I see what you're doing and I applaud your hustle!” / “okay that’s me told” when she flips him off. It actually kind of reminds me of how I have sometimes been mistaken as flirting when I was just laughing too loud or whatever, haha.
Anyway welcome on board the ace/aspec Henry train!!
🖤🩶🤍💜
EDIT after S3:
The ace Henry HC survived the end of canon!
Here's our boy "speaking in theory" about straight couples not being allowed to sleep in the same tent. A scene that tells us precisely two things: that Henry isn't dating anyone and that he still assumes himself straight. Which is a plausible starting point for all kinds of personal discoveries in fic - including ace ones!
Still salty about my ace Henry “proof” post yesterday being labelled ‘mature’ and hidden from everyone who hasn’t specifically enabled that kind of content in their settings. It was meant to just be a fun headcanon post in honour of International Asexuality Day, and I still don’t know what the problem was. Too many uses of s*x (yes I’m being petty) in a post about a character not being interested in it? Asexuality itself? Ugh.
Anyway, it’s not International Asexuality Day anymore, but this guy is still ace as far as I’m concerned 🖤🩶🤍💜 Here are some shaky screenshots of him being more interested in how Wilmon got together than the video itself, being suddenly reminded that hookups are a thing when he just wanted to live his best dorm life and egg Sprucewood, and looking kind of done with the allos (especially Vincent).
[To clarify: this is just a headcanon, I’m not expecting you to agree or the show to confirm it!]

Okay seriously, I can't stop thinking about it and I might be projecting a little but autistic Wilhelm? Totally. Fucking. Works.
1. The way he interacts with people
- He doesn't lol.
- Expanding on that, Simon and Erik are really the only people he truly makes an effort to interact with on a regular basis out of his own volition. He does interact with Felice a bit on his own, but it's on a much more superficial level and they really only become actual friends after Erik's death. Other than them, pretty much everyone he interacts with is obligation or by default of being around Simon.
- He says in the beginning of s1ep1 that all his friends are in Stockholm but...we never see them. Or see him text them. Or mention them at any other time. Do they even exist? Probably but he clearly wasn't actually that close with them.
- His behavior changes completely person to person. He's most relaxed and open with Erik, and he starts to act in a similar way with Simon towards the end of s1ep3 but then Erik dies and he's back to Public Persona Wilhelm until his breakdown and the brief time they have together in ep5. He has a somewhat friendly but still very polite persona he uses with his classmates at Hillerska, can be seen in the dinner scene when he's talking with Henry and the other boys before sitting down and almost any scene where he interacts with Felice, the I'm A Normal Teenager persona—see s1ep1 party and s1ep4 Society initiation—and then the prince persona, of which the most notable scene is definitely the Society meeting where he shoots down August's plan. And of course, everyone acts differently around different people, but like please, this is textbook masking or as I like to refer to it, the autistic chameleon vibes.
- Just. The entire fucking scene in s1ep3 where he's trying to tell Simon he wants him to stay at Hillerska after Parent's Day. Emotions to mouth disconnect. It's a vibe.
- And again in s1ep5, he has a hard time putting his thoughts into words during the argument with Simon. He's clearly trying but his brain just won't word things right.
2. Physical behaviors
- The head hitting thing he does after his argument with Simon
- Using pressure on his chest to calm his anxiety
- Constantly running his hands through his hair
- That one movement he does in his s1ep4 panic attack after returning to Hillerska where he's like lifting his arms. That. I do similar stuff when I'm overwhelmed.
- Self soothing by running his hands over his body at night in bed, again literally me all the time.
- Nail biting/gum chewing. Honestly this one's a toss up to anxiety or autism, it's common for both.
3. Extra notes that don't fit into either of the above categories
- Autistic people often have some form of anxiety, it's like, really common for autism to be comorbid or whatever the word is with anxiety.
- Those LED lights are totally a sensory thing, ESPECIALLY sitting with them around his neck. I cannot begin to describe the euphoria I get every year at Christmas and I get a whole month of staring at pretty lights up close, and I always wear them around my neck like that while we're decorating, so I 100% think it's a sensory thing for him too.
Autism isn't just special interests and the hand flappy stim. There's a lot more to it and like again, this may just be me projecting cause I do know a lot of the stuff I listed can be attributed to anxiety or just being a teenager under a lot of pressure, but it genuinely would make so much sense to me for him to be autistic.
