Hey, remember that AU I was working on? I finally figured out what to do with it! Meet Bicast, my new OC!
He's Zim from Zib's timeline... kind of. Zib in this AU comes from an altered version of Pilot Dib's timeline, hence why his Zim is different than expected. In this timeline, Zim was far more successful than any other, except for one where he became the tallest (I love those AU's, so Tallest Zim will be a character at some point). He was a captain over the invaders and was likely assigned earth as a planet intentionally.
With that said, after he was killed and his PAK attached to Zib, not only did he gain his memories but he begun haunting him and slowly driving him insane, doing things like possessing him in short bursts, playing sorrowful music on the piano in his house (Zib shares a house with our Dib in this AU, so the piano is belongs to either Dib or Gaz) and writing cryptic messages on note paper. But with that said, he also can't bring himself to hurt Zib. Could it be because he's his only vessel, or because he's somehow guilty for putting him in this situation in the first place? Only time will tell.
I finally made a speedpaint as well, you can watch it here! Bicast - Invader Zim OC speedpaint!

I can understand why there are a lot of misconceptions around the sustainability of leather, but leather production has a significant negative impact on the environment due to the heavy chemicals such as chromium used in tanning and its strong ties to the environmentally harmful cattle farming industry.
There are also many eco-friendlier vegan leather options made from materials like mushrooms, cacti, and pineapples that don't contribute to these issues.
However, even the use of pleather actually causes less harm to the environment than leather production does, which, many people don't realize, also has a plastic coating, typically using polyurethane. If you see leather that has shine to it, the shine is due to a layer of plastic. This type of leather is called bicast leather, but it is what virtually everyone thinks of as simply 'leather' and it is still permitted to be sold as "genuine leather" or "100% leather" in many parts of the world.
There is also what is known as 'bonded leather' which is a blend of animal skins, rubber, and a polyurethane binder that is embossed with a texture to replicate the appearance of animal skins. The actual amount of animal skin that is in 'bonded leather' can vary dramatically, sometimes having very little animal parts in it, yet still being sold as leather. These types of leather are the most common and so end up being significantly worse for the environment, even if a person doesn't consider the ethics of wearing an animal's skin.
The term "vegan leather" being used on pleather also isn't for the benefit of vegans, but is due to greenwashing, which leather production is guilty of doing as well when leather is promoted as being "eco-friendly" when many credible studies prove that it isn't. Pleather is also not being made for vegans, but instead is for people who cannot afford leather.
Buying second hand clothing or using neither animal skins nor pleather is also an option for many people and this is what the majority of vegans actually promote.
Thank you for these interesting insights. Personally, I am aware that leather is not a particularly eco-friendly industry (as aren't any industries) but I appreciate you detailing the ecological impact of leather compared to the one of pleather because even if I knew the difference was not extremely significant, I was still informed by different sources that they were in favor of leather. I'm willing to reevaluate that, of course.
What I was ranting about was more the common conflating of "vegan" and "environmentally friendly" that I see everywhere. It's not just about leather, it's also about foods (plant milks for example, the soy and almond industries being pretty damaging: not saying the dairy industry isn't, just saying presenting plant milks as a perfect solution is a lie). And I'm not saying it comes from vegans. I agree that that's purely a greenwashing strategy from execs who probably do not care. Also, you couldn't catch me blaming poor people for any of that, obviously shifting the blame to the consumer is a vile tactic that doesn't work on me.
Anyway, I'm not trying to debate, just making clear I wasn't being particularly dismissive of vegans, people who can't afford leather, or efforts to create alternative cruelty-free materials that will inevitably require at least a bit of plastic. I just don't think the vegan label is always being used in an honest manner: it just doesn't mean "green".

Hi Acti! My last ask probably didn't go through (if it did, ignore this). I googled PU-Leather because I was looking for a new phone case. I've always assumend that it's all synthetic and this is also what wikipedia says. But I've also found pages that say, that it could also be a thin layer of real animal skin coated in synthetic material and that there isn't a universal definition of what it actually is. Do you know more about this? And do you know how to tell if it's all synthetic or not?
Hi anon, I’m so sorry you didn’t get a reply. I specifically remember receiving (and answering) your ask, but now I can’t find the post so perhaps it just didn’t post properly. My bad either way.
Unfortunately, PU is one of those terms that isn’t as well defined or legally protected as it should be. PU realistically should always be vegan, the term is specifically supposed to refer to synthetic material. The problem, is that bicast leather, which contains actual leather, and just has a coating of PU on top of it, is often labelled as ‘PU leather’ and they seem to get away with doing it. ‘100% PU leather’ will always be vegan, but otherwise I think it’s best to check.
You can often find out on the materials label if it’s clothing, but it’s a bit more tricky with items like phone cases, and you may have to email the company directly in order to be certain on this one. Just as a sidenote, I’d recommend RhinoShield for your phone case - they confirmed to me by email that their patented material is vegan. I’ve been using the bumper case since they started on kickstarter, it’s light, unobtrusive, and I’ve never smashed a screen despite dropping my phone many times.

A Fashion Guide To Buy Leather Bags Online For Men
When you start making a purchase while looking specifically for men's leather laptop bags, there are several things to take into account. To begin with, it might be really challenging to distinguish genuine leather from the several alternatives that have been created over time.
Even though some full grain leather bags may be of very good quality, most boast leather is really of lower quality than the real thing. This is why it's crucial to exercise caution when purchasing laptop bags online since we can't physically inspect the fabric for authenticity.
Here are some tips for distinguishing genuine materials from imitations:
(A) Natural leather is substantially more porous than any bicast forms because it can breathe. This can be seen by locating the tiny pores that are present on every skin type naturally.
(b) Natural leather has a certain amount of shine, whereas artificial leather has a sheen that is highly accentuated. Real leather will not have a very high polish and will actually show a more natural tone even in harsh lighting when you purchase genuine leather bags online.
(c) Check the legitimacy and reputation of the brand before spending money on designer goods. Despite the fact that many leather goods are offered for sale online through shopping portals, buying directly from boutiques that specialise in leather goods is actually safer.
Men's leather bags are hard to locate in legitimate online stores, but certain designers do sell directly. While the majority of these shops would focus on selling locally, a reputable designer would also provide worldwide shipping. It's also crucial to be aware that buying directly from a boutique may cost you some money for shipping but will ensure that the leather is high-quality and authentic.
It can be really challenging to find laptop bags with a wide enough selection of designs while shopping online. A strong, roomy, and multipurpose laptop bag would be ideal for a man to use.
There should be lots of separate compartments for peripherals, paper and documents, and other office supplies, even though the laptop itself may take up a lot of room.
Make sure you locate styles that let you to carry numerous stuff in comfort while taking up the least amount of room. Ensure that the folds and flaps are functionally designed as well.
Online purchases of genuine leather bags should additionally include a guarantee certificate from the manufacturer attesting to the product's use of real leather. Also take note of how much leather was really used to create the item. The majority of the bag should be made of leather, while the interior lining may also be made of other materials like felt and cotton.
Depending on the various designs, men's leather laptop bags can be little or huge nonetheless, a significant indicator of a genuine product is when the manufacturer offers a certification of warranty. What is Genuine Leather ?
Walking through the stores, looking at a briefcase or a pair of shoes, it might seem great when we read “Genuine Leather”. Sounds awesome, right? Like you’re getting the real thing? We hate to let you down, but – it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.The “genuine leather” name does not mean great leather – it just means there’s some leather in the material. In this article, we’ll look at how genuine leather is made, how it stacks up against other types of leather and how to take care of your genuine leather products.
How is Genuine Leather is Made?
You’re not getting fake lather when you buy genuine – you’re just not getting the top. Actually, it simply means that it’s not top grain or full grain. It could mean a lot of different things, actually. It’s intentionally vague. In many cases, genuine leather is actually split leather. That means that the lower (inner) layers of the hide are stripped off. The outer, higher-quality parts are “top grain”. The ability to take multiple layers from one hide depends on the thickness of the skin. Some skins, like cow, are often able to be split into various levels. Genuine leather can come from the intermediate layers – between top grain and suede. That’s in term of position in the hide – not in terms of quality.
Quality
Genuine leather is leather, at least. Of the various possible grains and cuts, it’s at the bottom of the list, though. Relative to high-quality leathers like full grain and top grain, it’s definitely an inferior product.“Genuine leather” is not as durable and long-lasting as better leather products. It may make a decent first impression but is not going to stand up to ongoing wear and tear.
Appearance
If you’re not concerned about a product that going to have the resilience of a high-quality leather, you may be able to fool some of the people who just take a quick look at your genuine leather product.Since Genuine Leather simply means that leather is present in the product, it can run the gamut on appearances. In some places, even the bottom rung of leather product – such as bicast and bonded leather – can be called “genuine.”So there’s no consistent appearance to this class of leather. What is going to show, though, is its inferiority as it begins to wear quickly.

Bonded Vs.
Faux
