Today i finished reading through all the shiz years. So i guess i covered all the stuff that happens in the movie. And. Im making a list of all the differences and things i find interesting

-movie fiyero is white which is so weird page two of fiyeros introduction it says hes black so ????

-theres no fiyero glinda romance but i get how thats fun for the movie

-in the book not only elphaba is based. Boq is based. He actually does stuff apart from having a crush on glinda. Having a crush on galinda. Which brings me to my next point

-glinda becomes glinda because she becomes aware of all the shitty things that are happening she becomes WOKE. Elphaba earlier points out shes smart but doesnt use that side of her often. And boq said he loved GALINDA but not GLINDA. and man oh man i love glindas character in the book. But then again it only makes sense with the overall themes. Movie glinda is awfully fun and so is everyone else.

-the wizard being shit and madame morrible being shit is not a reveal. WE KNOW THIS INSTANTLY. THE CHARACTERS KNOW IT TOO. thats awesome. In general its cool that the political situation is something the characters are all aware of and we get everyones comments on it. Its not a mystery. Its a thing. And its interesting to see how each character reacts to it.

-glinda and elphaba kissed. Yay lesbians.

-nessa being a religious freak is so interesting to me

-in general the 4 forces in oz are fascinating. AH.

-you know whats also interesting. Elphaba and nessa being raised by 4 people. Actually witnessing the parents react to elphaba, not only with hate.

Also (post shiz) fiyeros and elphabas conversations are so fun and they feel so real. Im now witnessing fiyero becoming more involved in activism i guess (in the movie he was pretty based from the beginning so its fun to see his growth here although he wasnt mentioned much during shiz years) and him talking about it with elphaba is SOOO !!!!!! And its mixed with them being in love with each other god their relationship is so interesting to me i dont even mind why it happened. I like them together!!!! They feel like two real people having real conversations which are fit for the world they live in.

One more thing although i do prefer the book from the movie its because it dives so much deeper and its in line with my personal interest in politics (also its just well written so yuh). But the movie/musical is amazing as well! Its just different! Its a different story and thats fine, its enjoyable on its own, kinda like an alternate universe thats slightly less miserable. Similar issues but placed in a world more symbolic and with solutions that are perhaps easier to find. Absolutely enjoyable and man i just love musicals. Rlly the only thing id change is fiyero cause why is he white lol. Still. I feel blessed i discovered wicked- both movie and book(s). And im 30 years late to the party but better late than never.

CHISHIYA

This Man never cared over festivities and would actually to and take the xmas turn at the hospital to keep himself away from it.

Quiet insensitive about it and sees it most like a way of corporations to get money.

Plus he never got to experience a good xmas with his family..

Its up to you to take on the decorations and xmas mood!! He Will let you do whatever you want with the aparment as long as it does not touches his home office.

If you two prefer to mostly ignore it then its just another month. But Chishiya Will take xmas off and stay with you.

Gets you a big suprise present and when you do the same for him, he tries his best just how happy he is.

NIRAGI

Maybe you never imagine this, but he loves this month. During his childhood him and his mother would have the best of times setting up the tree and getting decorations, making cookies and singing xmas songs.

So yes, he expects quiet the same now that he is with you.

Like Arisu, he uses this time to buy more lights, the house looks like a dance place during night. Because he cant settle down for one color.

Will make you a cute interactive game that ends with "Happy Xmas, I love you"

Now wont admit it, but please cuddle him. Specially on cold mornings, he loves the natural heat more than having the califaction going on.

Kisses your head all the time and gets you a scarf tras too big For you. He thinks you look adorable.

TATTA

Another soft boy who has no idea what to do. If he is honest he cant really recall a special memory of xmas so he is lost and doing the standar things.

Totally checks the internet to see whats he is supposed to do.

Gets you tons of presents (five at least) because he feels like he is not at home a lot since his work gets more demanding during this month.

Get him a toy car with a controlled and he is the happyest guy alive.

Does not waste a chance on kissing you. Does not care if its on public or at home. Because to him its not only xmas but love season as well!!

BANDA SUNATO

He likes it because red blood goes amazing with white snow.

Really. The only time he leaves the city and goes to the countryside to hunt down peopel in the woods.

Does not care much for presents or decorations.

Just get him a New knife and he is happy, let him use it on you and its even better.

KARUBE

Man he is burned out with his bar. This month is demanding for him. Gets home late and tired. If you caress his hair and tell him sweet nothings he becomes a puppy.

Asks you to help him out decorating the bar (and Arisu) it ends looking amazing and then you make a personal competition to make your aparment with him look even better.

Is amazed how you managed to over due yourself.

Get him hawaii shirts please. Even if its no the time for it. He loves them and hates snow clothes.

The most kisser one.

You bet he adds mistelotes at home and at the bar. And is so ready to jump over you at any moment.

AGUNI

Asks you to help him decorate his flower shop but not too much cause he is worried the flowers Will suffer.

Sings xmas songs softly when he thinks you are not near (you are, you recorder him).

The xmas tree looks healthy and Aguni its so proud of how it looks he cant stop taking pictures of it.

Gets all flustered when you give him presents during the month. And wonders how did you get such a comfortable sweater for him ? Since he is all muscles?

Well he doubles it getting you a big Teddy bear.

Bound: Pages of You, by @wolfpants

Surprise! I got a thermal binder for Xmas and this is what I chose to do with it first!

Big learning curve still in progress here, which is why my margins are RIDICULOUSLY NARROW after trimming. The challenge for me with ppbs is the cover, forever and always. I'm determined to sort them out, though.

If you don't know it (but of course you know it), Pages of You is a fabulously engaging muggle AU Drarry fic set in 1980. It is delightful and centered on a Harry who is discovering his bisexuality, the joy of sex in general, and the joy of Draco Malfoy (scion of his bookselling godfather's nemesis/cousin-in-law, naturally). Harry is so dissembling and boyish and on-the-cusp in this fic, and Draco is repressed and yet determinedly himself. God, it's great.

The typeset was quick on this one as I was keen to try out my binder, but I still took the time to pick out the best fonts I could to represent Draco/Hematite's and Harry/Shopboy's handwriting.

A few little notes under the cut on the process.

I used "presentation paper" for the cover which is matte, lightweight cardstock (37 lb) but has some sort of coating that makes it print more like photo paper? Idk. It was the right size/price. I took a leap and bought some soft touch laminate to cover it. 1.5 mil film on a roll is a pain! Omg! But I will figure it out. And it does come out SO nice and light and soft to the touch, true to its name. I think it'll be a dream for wrap covers if/when I figure out applying it more neatly/simply.

The thermal binder was quite simple to use but I think I have a learning curve on the application of the glue strips ahead of me. I cut them slightly shorter than the length of the spine (per YouTube) and still had a little spill-over at the ends, and even up into the side of the cover/text block. Nothing disastrous but not as neat as I'd like.

I bound the block to a blank piece of the cover paper, not sure about laminated cover plus thermal binder, but didn't cut the blank cover down (reasoning it'd be trimmed with the text block anyway) and hoo boy. Forgot about how hard it'd be to trim with a big wonky cover sticking out. Hence the over-trimming.

I then glued the laminated cover to the block with PVA and trimmed again. So much trimming!!!

Final step was to iron on the gold HTV on the front, which went on like a dream and makes me feel feral whenever I look at it.

I want to try this bind again to improve on the trimming issues but I’m still super satisfied with this product. It’s a tangible functional lovely object I can read and hold and touch. Love it. Looking forward to more paperbacks in 2025!

We Need To Talk About The Oscars

Or more like I a Jewish person need you non-Jewish people to listen and actually hear me and other Jewish people when we talk about Jewish representation and utter lack of it in media.

I know that you think there is Jewish representation is media and I know many of you think that is probably an over abundance of Jewish representation in fact.

But having characters occasionally say oy vey, or kosher or mazal tov even though they are not Jewish is not representation. Saying schmear or a yiddish word here and there again usually by non-Jewish characters is not representation.

Having characters who we only know they are Jewish because it comes up during xmas episodes and they mention Hanukah like once is not representation especially if they are not played by Jewish actors.

Having canon Jewish characters stripped of being for tv shows or movies is not representation. Having a canon non-Jewish character made Jewish, but by doing so it plays it really harmful stereotypes and tropes abouts Jews is not representation (i.e the penguin in the animated Harley Quinn Series being made Jewish even though he is not all while not having Harley be Jewish even though canonically she is).

Having Jewish actors play villainous roles all the time especially ones with certain overtones is not only not representation it is actively harmful.

Having non-Jewish actors play Jewish characters and people is not representation, no matter how far back they may or may not have some Jewish ancestry perhaps.

There are three movies nominated for multiple Oscars about three real Jewish people. Not one of those films bothered to get a Jewish actors to portray these very real Jews.

Maestro has Bradley Cooper portraying Leonard Bernstein, Golda has Helen Mirren portraying Golda Meir, and Oppenheimer has Cillian Murphy portraying J. Robert Oppenheimer.

All three actors are not Jewish and yet all three portrayed Jewish people in their films.

All of three films are being awarded for their antisemitism, because that is what this is, with a bevy of award nominations from the Academy. Even if one does not go home with Oscar to be an Oscar Nominee still comes with prestige and seal of approval.

Both Maestro and Oppenheimer are being awarded with the Best Actor Nomination for their choice of non-Jewish men to play Jewish men.

Golda and Maestro have been awarded with the Best Hairstyling and Makeup Nomination despite both films heavy use of prosthetic makeup of their non-Jewish actors in order to make them "look more Jewish".

This is disgusting. This is antisemitic point blank. Hollywood as an industry has always been antisemitic and continues to be so. And now it rewards itself for its antisemitism. Once again it is left to Jews to shout into the void about this shameful injustice and hope that others will hear us and help make our voices heard.

This should not be happening still. This should be a wake up call within Hollywood and should a moment to course correct and do better.

Clearly it is not. I do not hold my breathe. I can say what I feel needs to be said and hope and that others see it and understand the truth in what I am saying.

It is time to stop erasing from our own stories and narratives. It is time to start giving us true and meaningful representation.

ok so ijust watched the weirdest fucking xmas film and now i gotta yap about it lol

so it's called 'lost at christmas' and it's def going for that halmark xmas film feel but set in scotland which i was all for like HELL yeh give me all the lame cheesiness please

first issue was that everything was super fucking bleak lol... the two leads immediately got dumped by their respective partners and are stranded in the middle of the scottish highlands lol and there are a few antics that made things feel lighthearted (i liked when she stole her ex's car that was fun lol) but mostly it was both of them feeling sad for themselves and their situations which is like Fine, i really don't mind sad xmas films but it kinda didn't gel with the whole rom com vibe they were going for...

2nd issue was i don't think i've watched a film where the leads feel like they have like... negative chemistry with each other lol... like they make kinda cute (if awkward) friends/acquaintances but as soon as they try to be romantic it's like someone is literally holding them at gun point it's almost PAINFUL to watch lol and they throw in this sex scene which honestly just made me think of the bit in back to the future when lorraine kisses marty and afterwards she's like 'when i kiss you it's like i'm kissing my brother' (which like, given he's her son yeah fair fair lol) but we're supposed to be ROOTING for these characters to get together but it just feels weird and icky

AND to top it all off they finally get back to glasgow (oh also they get back via a coach and it's hilarious because they're sitting together holding hands but not actually speaking and the music they're playing is still weirdly sad and bittersweet so ur like ??? are they even happy ??? was the sex THAT bad??!?) and have this incredible awkward goodbye where he's like 'yeh we need to go back to our ordinary lives now' and she's just like oh :( ok and they just ??? leave ??? walking in opposite directions?? like guys u know it's the 21st century and u can totally keep in touch even if ur not gonna be romantically involved lol it's so WEIRD lol

anyway yeh it was terrible but sylvestor mccoy was in it as was the actress who played young amy pond (her character was called clara) so that was fun lol ???

2024 FIC Roundup

In response to those of you who tagged me (@pookasluagh @captainblou and @missunderstoodlyrics) here is my AO3 author interview.

What fandoms do you write in? At the moment, only for Good Omens! But in the past I've written for Friends, The Pretender and Alias.

How many words have you published in 2024? So far, 186,754 words. I'll soon have a new Christmas fic to post that will definitely increase the count to more than 200k.

What is your greatest achievement this year? Starting to write for this fandom. When I started reading canon post S2 fix-it fics at the end of 2023 I didn't know that I would fall in love with AUs. Today I'm sure that this is a fandom that can express the best AU - if only for the fact that canon is 'fantasy' and AU are 'realistic'. I've changed my style from AE to BE and I'm trying to strengthen my writing. It's not always easy, but I've found beta readers who are so helpful in the process. I can't thank them enough.

What are your favorite top three fics you wrote this year? I've only posted two long fics, which are obviously the favorite I wrote: The Tadfield Holiday (A human ‘The Holiday’ AU) Runaway Groom (A human ‘Runaway Bride’ AU)

But as I mentioned, I'll soon post my Xmas fic 🎄🎁

What was your biggest pit of despair moment? I don't think I ever got desperate, but sometimes it's not easy being a non-native speaker. And the thing I've struggled with the most? Smut scenes 😁 What have you learned? Go with the flow. When the flow hits, just go with it. I'm saying this after writing almost 40k words in less than three weeks.

Did you beta any fics? Actually, I am! I'm not a useful beta when it comes to language, but I'm the best cheeleader 😁😁😁

What three fics have you read this year that you love? Only three? Impossible. I've read hundreds of them. I always read fics and most of all I re-read my faves. So here's a few.

and salt the Earth behind you by @sunrisesinthesuburbs The love and respect I have for this author is immeasurable. Just RUN read EVERYTHING she writes. Of course her Borrowed Words is a masterpiece, but I have a special place in my heart for Profiler Aziraphale and CI Crowley.

Overboard by @joanofart5 I write film-inspired AUs, and Joan did the same with this little gem. It's based on the 1980's romcom 'Overboard' and it's funny, and lovely and makes you FEEL all the right feelings.

Find the Light by @klikandtuna Oh, what an extremely talented author 💛 You've got Headmaster!Aziraphale and Rockstar!Crowley all cuddled up in an awesomely fluff story. Wonderful ❤

The New Road (is an old friend) by @missunderstoodlyrics Pastor!Aziraphale meets SingleDad!Crowley and his daughter Mira. Pining ensured and angst that made me die a little (a sweet death, mind you). Still one of my personal faves by this incredibly talented author.

I'll tell you who's in charge by @captainblou is still my fave of them. But even in other fics, Blou has this wonderful way with words and smut scenes and writing badass Crowley who's actually the sweetest creature. And the way they write about trans characters is the best in the fandom.

When Hell Freezes Over by @hermiola She has a WIP (subscribe, it's hilarious) and she's recently finished her Pretty Woman AU "Take a Little Love From Me", but I discovered her with this two-chapters one shot featuring a charming Peter-Vincent-inspired!Crowley and journalist!Aziraphale. I'm so glad we are collaborating, because your writing truly inspires me 💙💙💙

But oh there are so many others fellow authors: @bellisima-writes ("The Last Angel" is one of the more complex well-thought plots I've ever read), @feraltuxedo (If "All lines are open" was a book, I would have consummated its pages by now), @fellshish (My gosh, how many times I've read "Trial & error"?), @lyricalkris ("The Devil Built a Chapel" killed me 💚💛).

What ideas are percolating for next year? One too many. That's why I'll probably stop writing for a bit. I mean, there might be another movie-inspired AU project in the work, but...We'll see 💜

Who do you want to thank? My three besties, @pookasluagh, @somewhere-in-wales and @ineffablerainstorm. You know everything already 💚💛❤💜🧡🤍 And also, all the writers who make this fandom the precious, peaceful place it is. We've been through a lot this year. My Year In Horror 😈🔪

Top 5 Horror Films of the Year

The Substance. Possibly my film of the year? An absolute powerhouse of satire and deliciously nasty body horror. Demi Moore really sold the tragedy of Elizabeth Sparkle and the whole film just worked beautifully.

Cuckoo. A very fun and odd film that both creeped me out and also made me belly laugh at certain points. I went into this knowing NOTHING about it and that really benefitted it I think.

Terrifier 3. Definitely the strongest of the trilogy thus far as it struck a balance between quality and efficiency. A proper gorefest which had me cringing and giggling in equal measure.

The First Omen. One of the first horrors I saw this year and still one of the best. It wears its references on its sleeves (Possession, 1981 my beloved) and I had NO expectations for a Omen prequel and yet it was fantastic.

Longlegs. A film with a great premise and some incredible set-up that only kinda lost its way towards the end of the third act. However, it was still incredibly good and deserves a place in my top 5.

Top 5 Horrorable Mentions (films which skirt the horror genre but don't fully fit)

Godzilla Minus One. My other contender for film of the year. I even went back to the cinema just to watch this in black and white like a classic film. Amazing and epic and deserving of all it's flowers.

I Saw The TV Glow. A film I had no idea what to expect from and it was so utterly beautiful and thought-provoking that I left with a nasty sense of existential dread in my chest.

Maxxxine. Again, the third act kinda went a wee bit wobbly but I really loved this entry into the series. Very enjoyable and a good few iconic moments littered throughout.

Joker: Folie A Deux. The words "fucking brilliant" and "absolute dogshit" can and should co-exist lmao. Prime example.

Abigail. Dan Stevens making a second appearance on this list today! This film is a great mixture of fun gore, genuinely funny moment, and an overall good time. Also Dan Stevens 🫠🫠🫠

Top 5 Scares of the Year

First Omen - Burnt Nun. A fantastic build-up of tension.

Cuckoo - Bike Scene. Just nasty and slow and fucking LOUD.

I Saw The TV Glow - Final scene. More of a visceral horror and genuinely upsetting.

Stopmotion - Ash Man. Rancid and wicked little beast.

Oddity - Golem. Get that thing in the fucking sea.

Top 5 Musical Moments

Immaculate - "The Red Queen Kills 7 Times". When the theme from this iconic giallo film kicked in it had me PUMPED.

Maxxxine - "Welcome to the Pleasure Dome". The use of this in the club scene made me genuinely grin because I adore this bop.

Godzilla Minus One - "Godzilla Theme". Not gonna lie, when this iconic theme finally dropped in the film I felt that shit in my fucking bones.

The Substance - "Pump It Up". This remix worked so well with the film and it's been a brainworm since I first heard it.

Terrifier 3 - "Art's Xmas Song". Just stupid shite and a fun Christmas banger.
