OK season 3 episode 6 of the bear is. actually not only objectively great and impactful and relevant it is also very much culturally important. for me especially. i just finished it but i cant emphasize enough how my favorite thing about it is how the episode reinforces the core theme of th bear while recontextualizing and affirming everything we know about both tina AND mikey. tina's hostility towards sydney. of like not only being young and passionate, which tina has expressed envy towards, but like. job insecurity too. AND especially why she loves the bear and the core staff and ofc mikey. "i loved that kid" "im thankful for all you motherfuckers" yeah YEAH I SEE NOW WHY. WE SEE NOW. & i just couldn't help but cry irl tears of joy knowing that somewhere down the line tina actually found something beyond this resignation with survival that she, like many of us, was forced into; that the current her is now more inspired and passionate and BEAUTIFUL and how all of that was hugely due to the inspiration and guidance that sydney brought to the kitchen; that

no matter how old you get that spark can find you at a wildly unexpected place in ur life. like that is very important to ME. AND MIKEY. SEEING MIKEY so. unshrouded with grief. took my breath away in a way that i could not explain at first. it was like really seeing him for the first time. cause we've only ever seen him thru carmy's idealized version of him. the brother he admired. his hero. it was either that or when he was at his lowest. but here, in this episode, it was like all those lenses were off. the dust was cleared. we see mikey all buoyant and bright and charming and healthy but also unsure of himself, stressed out, not so much the social butterfly that was everybody's best friend, and, like tina, resigned. it broke my heart so much when he said that even at a young age he never saw himself becoming like the carmys of the world. the passionate ones who knew what they wanted to do and were good at it because, again, even at a young age, he was resigned with being saddled with the responsibility of his dysfunctional family. the way that that conversation was shot was also IMMACULATE and the script was so evocative and heartfelt and DIRECTOR AYO EDEBIRI THE WORLD IS YOURS

I have thought about Colin Bridgerton every single day since June 13. I love him so much, he plagues my mind. If you have been here for a while, you know that I've been lauding how Luke Newton has played Colin brilliantly and I will continue to pile on that praise because I cannot resist this pookie bear.

So, here's my favourite S3 smiles of my favourite sweet, soft boi. He progressively shows his toothy smile less and less from the latter part of S1 and S2 and beginning of S3 so I adore it when I see this smile. I just love love love when I see Luke Newton's toothy smile. He doesn't do it often when you carefully look at all the press tour photos and interviews.

S3E6 - Romancing Mr. Bridgerton He just made one of his dad jokes to Pen and made her smile. Nothing spells in love like this sweet, shy smile

S3E6 - Romancing Mr. Bridgerton Possibly the biggest smile I've seen on him when Pen tells him that she's always loved him. Gaaah, I can drown in this smile forever. It's this smile that makes the angst in the latter part so hard to watch. This pookie bear, in pain??? It was definitely hard to go through seeing the pain and confusion in his face.

S3E6 - Romancing Mr. Bridgerton His smile every time he twirls his two apples wife (I'm sorry for cutting Pen's face). That is the look of a fulfilled man.

S3E7 - Joining of hands I saw an interview (not sure which one) where Luke elaborates on the emotions he played Colin in throughout the wedding. He said that he just let him be swept up in the joy of the moment and that is why we get this beautiful wedding smile. Look at those eyes! We knew the conflict they were in but this is one of the hard evidences that he would never, ever give up Pen.

S3E8 - Into the light (sorry for the grainy gif. this was zoomed in at max capacity) Every single dance they've had (even the wedding one), Colin would display his truest emotions. It's why they have 5 dances throughout the season as compared to Saphne and Kanthony's 2 each (if I'm remembering correctly). This last dance, where he finally settles in his emotions saw him the happiest as evidence on the next gif.

S3E8 - Into the light Look at this pookie's face! It's the first smile where he closes his eyes fully-- embracing the joy he's feeling. This and the next gif's smiles are my absolute favourites. I can stare at this smiling face all day.

S3E5 - Tik Tok To the sweetest sex scene I've seen in my life, I will never get over you. Because you give me this man's absolutely smitten face. And those fiery eyes??? Are you kidding me? I can make essays about the mirror scene. That intimacy is not easily replicated and I'll always compare this scene to every other intimacy scene I see on screen from now on.

Star Wars TCW Discourse: Korkie Kryze has parent(s)/guardian(s) that are alive during the Clone Wars, and Aunite Satine is just that - an aunt.

At no point does Korkie state his parent(s)/ guardian(s) are dead. All we know is that he attends the Royal Academy of Government. There’s no mention of him until TCW S3E6 “The Academy”.

While I love the “Korkie is a Kenobi” theory it doesn’t make much sense to me. If you reference Star War Wiki, the kid was “a scion” of a house Kryze; meaning he was simply a member of Clan Kryze, House Kryze.

“But Korkie has red hair”….

So does Bo Katan, and his hair had changed from reddish to blonde by the Lawless Arc. Guess who else is a blonde Kryze - Satine. Hair color drastically changing during puberty isn’t unusual.

As much as I love Obitine and the implications of a Jedi love child amongst the Mandalorians, it A) doesn’t really fit with the self sacrificial attitudes both Obi Wan and Satine posses, but B) given Bo Katan’s attitude (and even Satine’s council) at the time, she would’ve 1000% outted Satine for bearing a Jedi love child.

My best assumption is that the Royal Academy is a boarding school, and that Satine is an attentive and doting aunt to Korkie regardless of his birth status within Clan Kryze, House Kryze because there’s not a lot of them left after the civil war decimated her clan.

The dawn, Percival decides, is both a blessing and a curse.

It’s a blessing because it signals the beginning of a new day. Another day to live, another day to fight. The Sun Tree, however charred, still stands. Whitestone still stands even if she and her people are limping in order to do so.

But it all still feels like a curse because the weak sunlight lays bare all of his mistakes and regrets. He swore to honor his family’s memory by taking up the responsibility that he was never actually meant to inherit, and he’s failed so spectacularly at it. He hates that he wasn’t here, because he should have been. His people are decimated and his city is in ruins and there’s still so much smoke lingering in the air.

(Why must he always choke on smoke, suffocate under its weight?)

He turns away from the main square, away from the piles of dead being gathered, and looks for his sister. When he does find Cassandra, his stomach twists even further as he watches her direct scattered members of the Pale Guard, never mind how much pain she must be in, how many bandages she’s wrapped in. She’s doing so much— has done so much—for Whitestone while he’s been away.

(He wasn’t here. Not when it mattered.)

He tries to swallow down the guilt and approaches her just as she falls back onto the nearest piece of debris that seems sturdy enough to bear her weight and isn’t actively smoldering.

“Cass—” he begins, voice cracking in a way he so desperately hoped it wouldn’t, but she fixes him with a startlingly sharp look.

“I know that tone and I don’t need pity right now, brother.”

“It’s not… I wasn’t…” he flounders, certainly not expecting that to have been her response. “No, I wanted to apologize.”

“Why?”

He blinks, taken even more aback by that, because there’s an entire list he can pick from.

(And he’s so tired of lists.)

“I should have been here,” he settles on, because that is what currently sits at the forefront of his mind.

Cassandra falls silent as she studies him, her expression unreadable as she does so, before she eventually sighs and shakes her head. “You got here when you could. I think the consequences would have been far more dire if you arrived any later than you did.”

Percy frowns—she should be more upset with him, should hate him when this isn’t even the first time he’s abandoned her when she needed him most—but sighs and nods in acknowledgement. Rather than continue arguing, he asks, “Is there anything you need help with at the moment?”

“Keeper Yennen and I have it handled, I think.”

“Of course,” he replies. He pauses and hesitantly adds, “You’re doing a good job, Cassandra. I hope you know that.”

“I’m certainly trying,” she says wryly.

“I suppose that’s all any of us can do at the moment.”

Cassandra nods her agreement and lets out a small sigh, turning her head a little to look up at the castle in the distance. “...I’m tired of losing our home,” she admits in a small voice.

Percy follows her gaze, feels the guilt rise up acidic in his throat, twist like a knife in his gut, as he watches plumes of smoke curl up the towers. “As am I.”

He let Ripley go. He should have been here, protected Cassandra, protected the people of Whitestone. He saw his city rebuild and even begin to flourish again and he was so sure everything would be all right. He thought Gilmore’s wards would be enough. He led Raishan to Whitestone. He let Ripley go again —

“Percival?”

He blinks and looks at Cassandra, notices the way her brow is furrowed with concern.

“It’s been a long night,” he says weakly and leaves it at that so he doesn’t have to try to articulate his spiraling thoughts.

She lets out a single, sharp laugh. “It truly has.” She sighs and pushes herself to her feet, wobbling a little when she’s upright, but managing to maintain her composure. “And I’m afraid it will be an even longer day.”

the bear s3 is way more "a24" than necessary and not much character development, but it is pleasing to the eyes. anywhayeez. s3e6 is sooo good (directed by ayo! ). makes me wanna get on a plane fly to chicago to get a the beef sandwhich.. also makes me wish the show was abt the beef and not the bear lol.oopze

one of the many things i love about the bear is how it shows all the different in actors that play a role in providing a service, runninng a functional organization of any kind. It shows all the support and organization it requires and this ensemble cast offers an interwoven blanket of support and care that is always in danger of giving in to practical issues of money which relies on emotional maturity.

The Bear restaurant, the mission of their organization is creating quality food they feel and believe offers value to their community through inspiration that comes from the community. Which is something i don’t think is something carmy embodies especially not in season 3. He acts to serve his ego, his fear and anxiety, the Michelin star system and excellence.

Micheal did embody this though. In Tina’s episode(s3e6) he talks about how peoples lives revolve around food and you see his care for others but he’s depressed by his economic circumstance and perhaps lack of ambition or certainty in what he wants. But he did the best with what he had and he connected to his crew and he inspired tina and richie, everyone.

I think sydney understands that purpose but she is distinguished for her love of cooking as an art form and she gets wrapped up in the michellen system because she wants to believe in Carmy but hes spiraling out, she feels that she has to enable and empower him. Her loyalty is painful to watch, really brutal her faith in the family.

I do the SAME SHIT every day.

This morning I wiped down my sink and a couple other little things. I weighed in 144 this morning and I'm trying to stick to 140 so I wanted a small breakfast. I made an omelet and some oatmeal, not a huge amount of calories. I started watching The Boys S3E6.

For work I warmed up with human gestures but I had a hard time focusing. For commissions I worked on the next one which are anthro ponies and did the last commission sketch for this month. DS joined today to say hi and that was nice. 57 and I figured out that Little Bear must take place in the late 40s due to a few pieces of evidence and I feel good about figuring that out.

After stream I did my dishes and started cooking stew early. I finished that earlier episode of The Boys.

In the afternoon I did today's request and asked permission to draw something of DS which she did not give. In the meantime instead I worked on something inspired from a VRchat screenshot of her but my tummy started hurting and I got demoralized. I decided to stop art for the rest of the day on account of my trips to the bathroom. After my tummy hurt was over, I did a certain activity that shouldn't help my tummy you'd think but it usually does and at least distracts me from it. After THAT I watched Twitch for a bit and waited for DS to become free since we had plans. I hopped on desktop VRchat to kill time by hopping new worlds. RS joined on me surprisingly and we talked for a minute. Then BD did and we chatted too. I had to leave shortly after.

DS and I played the official pony RP Roblox game while watching fursuit videos on the side. We spotted her 3 different times I think which was fun. Roblox was sort of a mindless side-thing. Halfway through hanging out, I started getting in my own head about some stuff and it kinda ruined the time for me. I didn't want that to happen obviously, I deliberately went into this tonight not wanting to think about anything heavy. But I did. I wanted to talk about it in bed briefly but she went straight to sleep. Instead I reached out to JD. I can't judge myself for being like this. It happened and I just needed to talk a little bit which I got.
