I'm Watching Tokyo Soul So You Don't Have To!

You Are Here! / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 9

So there's this 2015 Minecraft roleplay series that Grian was in. It's very bad and very, ah, dated, but it's also very full of Grian Angst, so people like to use it in their fanfiction.

A couple years ago, @paranoidpug watched every episode of the first season of this series, called Yandere High School, and wrote summaries of it, so people could learn what all those fanfics were referencing without having to actually watch the thing. They're very good summaries!

@sketchygainedyoursoul took over to do the second season, Tokyo Soul, but it seems like they never got past episode 8, so I've decided to take up the mantle of Tokyo Soul Chronicler. I know how it ends, and unfortunately it's like catnip to me, so this was inevitable really.

Also I'm starting from the beginning, because I'm using a different format and I wanted consistency I guess.

Content warnings for briefly mentioned violence, stalking, and uh... idk how to describe what's going on with Geode. Generally creepy behavior from an adult to a minor is broad enough I think. But in like, a mad scientist way? Yeah.

And Now... The Episodes Without Grian In Them

Episode 1 – New Beginning!

You are now sitting.

Sam, Taurtis, and Dom are in a train. They've just arrived in Tokyo. Sam told Taurtis they were going to Disneyland, because Taurtis doesn’t like big cities. Grian is not there.

Okami, their former teacher, has tasked them with navigating from the train station to a restaurant called “SushiWushi”. Let’s see how The Boys mess this one up!

They encounter a skeevy old man named Old Kurokuma outside the train station.

They get someone else named Igbar von Squid to show them the way to SushiWushi, but Sam wants to “mingle” by the dumpsters instead.

I’m now running the video back, because I want to see exactly how long it takes them to get to this restaurant.

Also Dom has the best outfit of the three.

“I’m starting to get spooked. Why’d you even come back here, Taurtis?” says Sam.

They encounter someone literally named “Suspicious Person” burning money in a fire, who offers them “sugar”. They jump over the fire to get away, with varying degrees of success.

“STOP DROP AND RICKROLL” – Dom

They do their “look both ways even though there are no moving cars in existence” bit. If I was Igbar I woulda just left them by this point. Igbar is visibly slumping.

The creepy old man is still following them, also.

They arrive at SushiWushi! It took them 10 minutes and 16 seconds (if my math is right). Honestly? I thought they wouldn’t be there before the episode was over, so good on them.

I’m obsessed with how their Minecraft avatars’ arms move when they’re sitting, by the way, it makes them look like a kid pretending to drive their parents’ car.

Sam and Taurtis both mention feeling uncomfortable around girls with knives.

Taurtis is arguing about pufferfish, Sam is trying to steal sushi from the next table over, Dom is… getting into a fistfight in the background?

Luckily, the person they were supposed to meet, Kiyu, arrives, and WHOA THEY HAVE A VOICE.

Kiyu begins showing them around.

Episode 2 – FIRST SCHOOL DAY!

Kiyu is bad with directions.

Old Kurokuma is STILL following them.

Kiyu shows them their house, they’re very excited about how fancy it is. Kiyu assures them that most of their stuff is there.

Dom is going to live in the dumpster outside apparently.

Kurokuma is outside their house now.

“We’re in the witness protection program, but I feel SO much more unsafe than we were before” – Taurtis. And from what I know it only gets worse!

The next morning, the boys attempt to make their way to school, but they don’t know where it is. They ask a student passing by, then decide to “jump ‘em” when they’re too shy to answer the question.

Taurtis, running over to a group of other students: “Can I hang out with you guys? Can you be my new friends?”

Sam asks Dom for a high five. Dom punches Sam. Sam dies. They continue walking to school.

Taurtis: “I miss our old school, I bet this one’s not even haunted.” Sam: “We could make it haunted!”

At school, they meet back up with Kiyu, who also goes there apparently, and she takes them to get their schedules from Señor Loro, who is wearing a luchador mask and what appears to be a Christmas sweater.

Señor Loro drops them through a trapdoor into a secret wrestling ring. They must wrestle him for their schedules, obviously.

Oh dang they actually have Four Whole Classes this time.

Episode 3 – TEACHER TORI!

On the way to their lockers, one of the other students, Greentama, who is wearing a One Punch Man outfit, one-punches them for jaywalking.

“There’s some weird stuff in these lockers.” – Kiyu

Their first class is with Teacher Tori, who is supposed to be Toriel from Undertale I think? She teaches Agriculture, apparently.

Creepy Man Update: He Is Still There

They go out to the courtyard to collect flowers. We learn that Kiyu avoids the sun.

We also learn that Señor Loro is the guidance counselor.

“Fish are just flowers that swim in the ocean.” – Taurtis

Their next class is Dr. Nurse MD’s Class of Not Dying!

Taurtis does not understand what witness protection is.

Dr. Nurse MD is teaching CPR. He asks for a volunteer from the audience. Taurtis gets volunteered. Dr. Nurse MD does not understand what CPR is. Somehow Taurtis survives.

By this, I mean that Dr. Nurse MD’s conception of CPR is: Choke the other person, and then throw stuff at them. Now pair up and try it on each other!

Episode 4 – DON’T DROWN!

Time for lunch!

One of the kids who was in Nurse MD’s class is stumbling around coughing up blood, it seems. Lovely.

Sam and Taurtis decide to eat lunch on the high diving board, where they witness someone almost drown.

Time for gym class! The PacerGram Fitness Test is a–

They do laps around the gym. Gym Teacher Helena loves pain, it seems. Also she has quite a bit of favoritism towards Kiyu.

The kid who was coughing up blood earlier is NOT looking good.

Episode 5 – CREEPY TEACHER!

Their last class is in classroom 12, which has a number 4 outside of the door, and also a gold key and a bottle of Mountain Dew. The floor inside is covered in mushrooms, and the teacher, Professor Geode Rocks, is sitting on a throne. He addresses his students as “subjects” and “my children”. There are chains hanging from the ceiling. The boys are very uncomfortable.

Geode calls the new kids to the front of the class and asks for their medical records. Also, every time he says someone’s name, he says it in all caps.

Taurtis starts listing out all of the physical trauma he’s suffered. Geode decides the three of them are “not good candidates”.

Geode gives them homework: Collect as much trash as possible. Extra points for blood, hair, and nails.

“Wait an Earth Second,” says Professor Geode, much like an Earthling would.

He starts sniffing Taurtis. Taurtis is “the one”. Now his plan can finally be a success. He pulls a hair out from Taurtis’s head. Taurtis does NOT like any of this. Even Sam is vocally weirded out. Geode starts yelling about world domination as the bell rings.

Sam: “We can’t go back, we’re in witness protection.” Taurtis: “I don’t feel protected here!”

Taurtis: “I’ve never felt so unsafe in my life.”

This school’s Yelp review is going to be real bad.

Sam: “This is for a class, Mr. Geode told us we had to get blood.” Señor Loro: “CLASSIC GEODE. He is eccentric.”

Creepy Man Update: Still.

Rating My Obsessions/Hyperfixiations:

2019/2020 (can’t remember):

My Hero Academia: 1/10 (it gets one point for being my first ever hyperfixiation, but I was a foul human being during this time of my life)

The Chronicles of Vladimir Todd/Vampires: 7/10 (I’m sure if I went back and read these books now, they would be subpar and honestly childish, but at the time, I loved them with every fiber of my being, and the memories associated are good so..)

Death Note: 1/10 (Ew I’m foul. I’m a foul creature. I deserve to be put down.)

Dr. Stone: 4/10 (I honestly remember jack about this show but it gets a 4 for being anime.)

Undertale: 5/10 (This game made me happy for awhile, but it was introduced to me by an ex best friend, so it’s getting a solid 5.)

Detroit Become Human: 6/10 (Minus points because of the time of my life this was during, but this game is an absolute masterpiece <3)

Hellsing: 5/10 (The obsession was unhealthy, but this one was pretty great too. Now, it’s sort of a sore spot, but at the time I was living the dream.)

BATIM: 9/10 (This hyperfixiation is honestly older that what I’m giving it credit for, but it’s going here because I don’t have a category for before 2019. Anyway it’s pretty great. It came back in summer of 2023 when I finally watched Dark Revival, which I liked better than the original <3)

FNaF: 8/10 (High score because this is one of the only hyperfixiations that has lasted so many years and can still bring me joy. It’s also older than I’m giving it credit for. Now, Was I cringe about it at some point? Definitely. Do I care? No.)

DSAF: 10/10 (I might be jumping the gun by giving this one my first 10, but I absolutely love this game. It’s only ever brought me joy, to this day I still love it, I based so many of my usernames and characters on it..and just ugh, I love it Fr.)

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: 7/10 (Admittedly, I haven’t stayed that up to date on it, but I love this anime. It doesn’t have that many bad memories and it’s just, great.)

Dialtown: 8/10 (In the same boat as DSAF but it didn’t bring me AS much joy. I still love it though and honestly I need to finish it.)

Hamilton: 5/10 (At the time, again, I loved it, but now it’s honestly one of my least favorite musicals.)

Borderlands: 7/10 (oh god to experience this game again for the first time would truly be a beautiful experience. Although I was cringe with it for awhile and this wasn’t exactly the happiest time of my life when I enjoyed this..so..)

LA Noire: 8/10 (I honestly loved this game, it was a big turning point in me and my brother’s relationship, and I remember staying up late on countless nights playing or watching him play it.)

Curses Cosplay/The Acklam Ashes: 9/10 (This creator doesn’t make content like this anymore, no hate at all they have their reasons and I still love them, but this YouTube show was a pivotal point of my life and I love it so.)

2021:

Creepypasta: 2/10 (Low score just for the sake of the fandom, and the fact of who I was associated with during this period of time.)

Marble Hornets: 6/10 (Was I cringe? Yes. Absolutely. But this show is so amazing I’m willing to put that aside. I’m also rating this separately from creepypasta for obvious reasons.)

WitchCraft: 5/10 (I had a whole witchy thing for awhile? It was mostly just tarot cards and shirts with the phases of the moon on them.)

DND/Divinity Original Sin: 10/10 (I have zero bad memories with either of these. My love for fantasy and DnD was awakened by playing Divinity Original Sin 2 with my older brother, and then that stemmed into more love for fantasy and the genre in general.)

SCP: 8/10 (This hyperfixiation is somewhat still alive? Not really, but I do still enjoy some occasional SCP content. It’s not a higher score because this was 8th grade year and that’s embarrassing.)

The Glass Animals: 9/10 (Less of a hyperfixiation, more of just, man they made some banger music.)

Elvis: 6/10 (Literally what was wrong with me. For awhile I only listened to music from this era, especially Elvis, and forced my family to buy me a bunch of Elvis merch I didn’t need.)

Noir: 6/10 (Okay so, this stemmed from the above mentioned LA Noire earlier and basically was a time period of my life where I was obsessed with watching old detective/murder mystery movies from the 20s. Honestly, they were bangers. But also, wtf was I doing.)

Tv Heads?: 5/10 (I had a weird thing for robot TV heads for awhile? It’s hard to explain honestly.)

Queen: 7/10 (Another one of those weird band obsessions I guess. This one was definitely bigger than the glass animals.)

2022:

Good Omens: 10/10 (Absolutely love. Loved it then and I still love it to this day!! Holding out for season 3 Fr 💪)

Clover: 7/10 (not many people know what this is, so for context it’s an electroswing album by OR3O. I loved it at the time but it doesn’t hit as hard now.)

Phantom of the Opera: 10/10 (Another 10. This wasn’t technically the first musical I ever watched, but, it was the start of my love for musicals and broadway. And it’s just a great musical Fr.)

Ghostbusters: 7/10 (If you asked me why I suddenly had a ghostbuster hyperfixiation during this time, I couldn’t tell you. But they are iconic movies so…)

The Steve Saga: 8/10 (I had watched FavremySabre several years before, but never this series. Anyway I loved it, still love it.)

Supernatural: 7/10 (A bit of a lower score because I was cringe, and my obsession with Castiel was unhealthy. Not to mention Supernatural isn’t exactly the best show on Netflix? It got dull later on, but..did I watch it start to finish anyway? Yeah. Absolutely.)

Twisted Rainbow: 10/10 (FavremySabre Masterpiece.)

Doctor Who: 6/10 (Two words. Season 13.)

Ghost: 6/10 (Low Score because I can’t stand to listen to them now, and because it’s associated with an ex bestie. But. Can’t lie. They had some bangers.”

Steam Powered Giraffe: 4/10 (Also associated with an ex bestie. They’ve got some good music but I don’t listen to them anymore.)

Mushrooms/Indie: 7/10 (This one was a bit odd but it did result in me redecorating my entire room to match this aesthetic.)

2023:

Faith The Unholy Trinity: 10/10 (Awesome Game, honestly one of the first things that sparked by interest in religious media, so points for that.)

The Exorcist: 9/10 (An odd thing to hyperfixiate on, I know, but this was also a result of my growing love for religious media.)

Mandela Catalouge: 6/10 (This was an odd one. I, at the time, had this raging fear of analog horror in general, so watching the Mandela Catalogue was sort of like..immersion therapy in a way. But it’s a pretty good show none the less 🤷‍♀️)

Be More Chill: 5/10 (Loved at the time, but low points for having been introduced to me by an ex bestie.)

Every Man Hybrid: 8/10 (A certified banger. Genuinely one of the better takes on the Operator and the whole creepypasta fandom in general. It’s great fr. Highly recommend.)

Grease: 4/10 (Ew. I’m only putting it here because I was in a production of it, and it was kind of a part of my life, but also, ew.)

Greys Anatomy: 8/10 (A banger show, but it doesn’t get a 10 simply because of how long it is.)

Slipknot: 7/10 (I don’t love who I was while listening to this band, but that’s kind of just something metal music in general will do to you.)

Aliens: 10/10 (This was short lived but strong enough to have bought a “I Want to believe” poster and hung it up behind my bed.)

Beacon Pines: 10/10 (Amazing game, very underrated. Also resulted in good bonding time with my brother.)

Gravity Falls: 9/10 (Another Amazing series that I’m probably a little cringe for. Whatever. It’s awesome.)

2024:

Ace Attorney: 9/10 (I eat, breathed, and slept this game series for months. Nuff said.)

The Ocean/Sea Animals: 9/10 (if I could keep an orca as a pet, I would.)

Midnight Mass: 10/10 (HOLY GOD. Another one of my favorite bits of religious media out there. It’s not exactly prime catholic propaganda but it’s not meant to be either.)

Baldurs Gate 3: 10/10 (This game brought back my DND era, which was much needed. I’d been without fantasy nonsense for a long time and I was ready for it.)

The thing about Resident Evil, though, is that “from the beginning” can mean one of two different things. You can start from the beginning with Resident Evil (1996) on PSX, I suppose, but Resident Evil 0 (2002) is chronologically the earliest point in the series.

And, in my opinion, starting with either of those games is a bad idea if you’re coming in from RE4.

I’m going to give you two viable paths through RE, and you can choose the one that you think would work better for you personally.

If you came into Resident Evil through RE4make (and/or OG RE4), and you are only interested in seeing Leon’s story before going into the wider canon, this is the path you take:

Resident Evil 2 & Resident Evil 2 Remake (it doesn’t matter which one you do first, but you should do both. RE2make cuts some shit that’s actually really super important.)

Google search “Resident Evil 3 Leon epilogue.” It’s a single image. Just read it.

Darkside Chronicles (game)

Congrats, you are now up to date with everything (important) that happened to Leon pre-RE4, and you now have a better context for who he is/what he does in that game. From there, the canon timeline for Leon’s appearances then goes:

Degeneration (movie)

Infinite Darkness (Netflix series)

Damnation (movie)

Resident Evil 6 (game)

Vendetta (movie)

Death Island (movie) (releasing in July)

And that’s it. You’re up to date with Leon’s story, and now you can go through the rest of the games at your leisure. The good news is that Leon is in every single canon CGI movie that’s been released, so you don’t have to worry about tracking down anything other than games in order to go into the wider canon once you’ve reached this point.

If you came into Resident Evil through RE4make (and/or OG RE4), and you want to go through the canon because you’re interested in the world and not necessarily hyperfixating on Leon, I actually suggest going backwards and out of order. These are the steps that I would take in order for the series to make the most sense as you’re going through it:

Resident Evil 2 & Resident Evil 2 Remake (again: do both). Doing this gives you more context for RE4, and it introduces you to Claire and makes you aware of who Chris is.

(optional) Resident Evil: Outbreak. Nothing that happens in this game matters, and you’ll never see any of these characters again. This is the only non-essential RE title that I’ll mention, and only because Kevin Ryman is delightful and was supposed to be the guy training Leon if Leon had ever actually started work for real.

Resident Evil Remake. Ignore RE1 on PSX. It’s been erased from canon and overwritten by REmake. This now gives you the setup for why Chris wasn’t in Raccoon City when Claire went looking for him, introduces you to him, and also the rest of the recurring main cast. It will also explain to you who Wesker is; he’s the guy who was talking to Ada in the post-credits scene in RE4make (and who called Leon a dog over and over lmao).

Resident Evil 0. This tells you how Rebecca got to where she was when you meet her in REmake and finishes fleshing out STARS and Wesker for you. By the time you’re done with RE0, you’ll have a full understanding of who the main players all are and how this all started.

Resident Evil 3. Original or Remake. Doesn’t matter, really. I recommend the remake just because Carlos is hot in that version and the game is overall more palatable, but the changes that happen between OG and remake don’t really matter in the way the changes between RE2/RE2make matter.

Code Veronica X. Now that everyone’s out of Raccoon City, the next event chronologically is Claire continuing her search for Chris (and finally finding him).

Umbrella Chronicles followed by Darkside Chronicles. This is just to cap off the Raccoon City saga. Most of what these two games are are recaps of all the games you just went through, but there are extra bits in there that are important. Like, the original version of Operation Javier is shown in Darkside Chronicles -- and, once you see it, you’ll understand why RE old guard says that it’s been changed and retconned in RE4make. The rest of this list is just how the series then unfolds chronologically, because we are now caught up to Resident Evil 4.

If you want to be a complete and utter crazy person and go through it all, feel free, but I promise you that you don’t need to know who Morpheus D. Duvall is (nor do you want to), or about that dude who fucked that spider in Gun Survivor 2 (though it is the funniest bit of RE lore to pull out and shock people with. DUDE PUT HIS DICK IN A SPIDER).

Much of the Earth was molten because of frequent collisions with other bodies which led to extreme volcanism. While the Earth was in its earliest stage (Early Earth), a giant impact collision with a planet-sized body named Theia is thought to have formed the Moon. Over time, the Earth cooled, causing the formation of a solid crust, and allowing liquid water on the surface.

The Hadean eon represents the time before a reliable (fossil) record of life; it began with the formation of the planet and ended 4.0 billion years ago. The following Archean and Proterozoic eons produced the beginnings of life on Earth and its earliest evolution. The succeeding eon is the Phanerozoic, divided into three eras: the Palaeozoic, an era of arthropods, fishes, and the first life on land; the Mesozoic, which spanned the rise, reign, and climactic extinction of the non-avian dinosaurs; and the Cenozoic, which saw the rise of mammals. Recognizable humans emerged at most 2 million years ago, a vanishingly small period on the geological scale.

The earliest undisputed evidence of life on Earth dates at least from 3.5 billion years ago,[7][8][9] during the Eoarchean Era, after a geological crust started to solidify following the earlier molten Hadean eon. There are microbial mat fossils such as stromatolites found in 3.48 billion-year-old sandstone discovered in Western Australia.[10][11][12] Other early physical evidence of a biogenic substance is graphite in 3.7 billion-year-old metasedimentary rocks discovered in southwestern Greenland[13] as well as "remains of biotic life" found in 4.1 billion-year-old rocks in Western Australia.[14][15] According to one of the researchers, "If life arose relatively quickly on Earth … then it could be common in the universe."[14]

Photosynthetic organisms appeared between 3.2 and 2.4 billion years ago and began enriching the atmosphere with oxygen. Life remained mostly small and microscopic until about 580 million years ago, when complex multicellular life arose, developed over time, and culminated in the Cambrian Explosion about 538.8 million years ago. This sudden diversification of life forms produced most of the major phyla known today, and divided the Proterozoic Eon from the Cambrian Period of the Paleozoic Era. It is estimated that 99 percent of all species that ever lived on Earth, over five billion,[16] have gone extinct.[17][18] Estimates on the number of Earth's current species range from 10 million to 14 million,[19] of which about 1.2 million are documented, but over 86 percent have not been described.[20]

The Earth's crust has constantly changed since its formation, as has life since its first appearance. Species continue to evolve, taking on new forms, splitting into daughter species, or going extinct in the face of ever-changing physical environments. The process of plate tectonics continues to shape the Earth's continents and oceans and the life they harbor.

I’m getting bad flashbacks of my high school years with this 🤠 but it’s very fascinating nonetheless- I especially love the part that uses fossils to analyse critical parts of history- all these years of evolution led to this right now like me drawing this fictional alcoholic man every day-

I was tagged by @leviathiane thank you for thinking of me 🥺 I barely even feel like a fic writer at this moment, even though I keep writing fic - I wonder what that says about me 😂

I will answer this across all pseuds, including my omorashi pseud.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

72 (what the hell? when did I have time to write 72 things??)

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

277,511 I like statistics, so it's fun to me that that averages out to around 3850 words per fic. Nearly none (ok maybe 10ish?) of my fics are 4k words. Considering I have 18 fics under 1k and like 5 fics over 10k though - i see how this happened.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

I am currently only really actively writing for Moriarty the Patriot, and I have previously been active in One Piece and Yugioh. I do have at least one fic from each of those two fandoms that I hope to come back to and finish, so I'm not fully out - just not currently writing there. ...I also have a pseud that exclusively contains a failed attempt at chronicling my magical kitties save the day campaign. There are other fandoms on my AO3 account but these are either alternate universes for my fanfic for one of those three fandoms, or archived tumblr meta analysis.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Well here is where the fandom bias comes in I think. Or... perhaps just that the small fandom I'm only consumed by very rare pairs. 5. Sanji's Respite (Rated T, cigarette smoke, platonic lawsan, One PIece 4. Shared Nightmares (Rated T, platonic lawbin, One Piece) 3. Doctor's Orders (Rated E, law/reader, omorashi, watersports, very inappropriate use of devil fruits (your organs be outside you now), D/s dynamic, One PIece) 2. Law's Introspection (Rated T, sequel to Sanji's Respite, please don't ask me how the sequel has more kudos than the first fic in the series, cigarette smoke, platonic lawsan, One Piece) 1. Conquest (Rated E, fighting marines as foreplay, competition, kidlaw, One Piece)

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Yes! I love talking in the comment section as a reader or a writer - it's so fun to talk about the characters we love, and fic is a good place to do it. There are so many smart fic writers out there too just UGH I've gotten so many cool reading recommendations, both original and fan work from my readers, and honestly those conversations are a major draw to actually posting at all for me. I am a little shy, but if you are in my comment section, it feels like it's probably ok for me to talk to you.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

If I didn't write alternate endings for the Emergency Contact series and consider this the alt ending the "true" ending, I'd say "Choke on My Words, Swallow Them Faster." (T-rated bad ending hanahaki fic from MTP angst week) -- SO many dead characters. But I think that the real answer should be "Lex Talionis" (E-rated katamar 'temporary character death' fic for OP).

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

This was fucking hard. I don't know that I write particularly happy endings. There are fics with resolved sexual tension. Fluff fics where things weren't ever sad to begin with. And a LOT of hurt and angst and badwrong. BUT I think I'm going to go with "Date Night" (Rated T, bondson, Moriarty the Patriot). James might get shot and there might be some tension because of it, but overall it's actually pretty hopeful and cute, the plot elements are treated pretty lightly, especially for me, and James & Miss Hudson are honestly pretty cute together, even if the world might not protect them and they know that.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I don't think I really get hate. I have had confusion/surprise before. I've had people who had wildly different interpretations of what I wrote than what I planned on writing. But never true hate.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Bahhahahahahah do I write smut. DO I write smut? It's not like 35 of the 72 fics are rated Explicit and another 14 are rated Mature. I write SO much smut al;kjdflk; I .. do not know how to succinctly answer "what kind." Unless you want like M/M & multi but ALSO there is a little het in my x reader stuff. There is a fair amount of more normal smut, a good amount of omorashi, and LOT of violent/consent violating/incestuous smut that is designed to leave you horny and uncomfortable about it.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

Not usually as a rule but I do have a single true crossover between One Piece and Yugioh which is currently abandoned. I don't think it was particularly crazy, and it was my longest fic until Poison Paradise came around.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I don't think so. I don't know who the hell would be crazy enough for that tbh. I think if you are clout chasing you would choose something less fucked or more finished.

12. Have you had a fic translated?

Nope.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yeah! I co wrote two fics for Sherly week this spring. @cawcawkarasu helped me with alpha reading and direction + art for the fashion prompt, and @vitya-nikiforova co-wrote the fic we submitted for the "indulgence" prompt (porn tea)

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

Such an short, innocuous question. What the fuck. AHHHH NO don't DO this to me. Prideshipping, yugioh. katamar, one piece. FUCK don't make me choose just one moriarty the patriot ship - basically any combination of the moribros & holmes brothers that isn't mylock or sherliam could probably be a top ship. Willis? Alwill? Sherlilouis? Sherlouis? Something like that.

15. What's the WIP you want to finish but you doubt you ever will?

Hahahaha jokes on you that's so many wips. I guess I'll just list the one piece and yugioh fics I'm still holding out hope for: Chronology: A Case Study (the tattoo kaiba fic LITERALLY HAD THE LAST CHAPTER WRITTEN FIRST WHAT THE FUCK HERGAN. JUST FINISH IT ALREADY), Exothermic - I have a grand plan and it would be great to implement but I just don't have spoons for One Piece right now. Honestly Seek and Ye Shall Find also - it would be nice but i've given up. Live Stream too - the coding is just too much for me even though I know a lot of how it goes. And actually there is a yuumori fic here too: Welcome to Paradise. I suspect that I'm not going to want to return to pregnant Albert very often, unless somehow I get pregnant a second time and feel like I need to write about that experience. 16. What are your writing strengths ?

I think my writing tends to focus well on individual experience. I like to use physical sensation and limited perspective a LOT in my writing, and I feel like it is often very vivid and compelling.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Sticking with it when it gets difficult/I lose interest? And also probably just "happy moments." I definitely am not a great tooth-rotting fluff writer.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I don't mind the concept but I have had very little reason to do it. French would fit with the Victorians, but I just. am not a good French speaker. I don't think I would do it with any regularity.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Uhhhh fuck if I know. Lemme check FFN. Dear god. Uhhh I guess its a poem for something called "Midnighters"? I don't remember writing that tbh Or even what that fandom was.

20. Favorite fic you have ever written?

Oh damn I read this as "best" fic that you have written when I read your responses Depths, and I was like "oh I know that answer" but favorite? Ugh why are these HARD You know what. Poison Paradise is my pet fic and it has so many more words than any other chapter fic i've attempted. I really really want this to be the on that I finish. So let's choose that.

October 14th 1285 saw the marriage of King Alexander III to Yolande de Dreux.

Dates differ somewhat on this, one source states the marriage happened in November, most give October.

This was Alexander’s second marriage, the first was to Queen Margaret, they had three children, two of whom passed away before adulthood, the third, Margaret was married off to Eric II of Norway. Queen Margaret died on 26th February 1275 at Cupar Castle, with no male heir this meant a possible succession crisis, it took ten years for for Alexander to find a suitable bride, but according to the Lanercost Chronicle, he did not spend his decade as a widower alone:

“he used never to forbear on account of season nor storm, nor for perils of flood or rocky cliffs, but would visit none too creditably nuns or matrons, virgins or widows as the fancy seized him, sometimes in disguise.”

Yolande de Dreux was the daughter of Robert IV, Count of Dreux, and Beatrice, Countess of Montfort. She was born at the family seat at the Chateau of Dreux, close to the border between Normandy and the Ile-de-France. This made her a member of the Capetian dynasty, the largest and oldest of the royal houses in Europe.

And so it was on this day in 1285 that the 44 year old Alexander married 22 year old Yolande, by now Comtesse de Montfort.

The royal couple were married at Jedburgh AbbeyIt appears to have been love at first sight for both of them. Certainly all the Chronicles say that Alexander was quite besotted with his young, beautiful and graceful wife.

Alexander simply could not get enough of the glamorous Yolande, and on March 19, 1286, the king enjoyed a meal with his council in Edinburgh before deciding to surprise Yolande who was at a royal manor at Kinghorn in Fife.

The weather was so bad that the ferryman at Queensferry at first refused to carry the King across the Forth, but eventually he did so and with plenty wine taken and no doubt lust beckoning him onwards, the lure of Yolande proved too much and Alexander III charged onward through Fife.

His body was found the following morning on the shore between Burntisland and Kinghorn Ness near to Pettycur. The cliff down which he fell is known still as King’s Crag.

The history books tell us Yolande was pregnant, some say she miscarried, another chronicle goes into a wee bit more detail saying that the Guardians gathered at Clackmanan on St Catherine’s day 25th November 1286 – to witness the birth, but the child was stillborn, tradition says the baby was buried at Cambuskenneth. After the queen dowager’s pregnancy did not result in a living child, the council begun preparations for Margaret of Norway to be taken to Scotland as their new sovereign.

Queen dowager Yolande remained in Scotland for a couple of years supported by her dower provisions and living possibly at Stirling Castle: it is known that she was still in Scotland at least as late as in 1288. At some point, she returned to France.

In 1292 Yolande de Dreux remarried, this time to Arthur II, Duke of Brittany. They had six children together over the following decade. Arthur died in 1312, while Yolande lived until 1330.

Lots of ifs and buts resulting from this part of our history, but one thing is for sure, with Queen Yolande later having 6 children, there is little doubt that if Alexander hadn’t been so lusty that night she would have bore him a son and the whole timeline of our Royals would have been much different, no Bruce, no Stewarts, no Culloden?

Add another title to the Warner Bros. Pictures Animation Goddamn That's A Mouthful slate, unsurprisingly a DC-inspired property.

I guess Ron Clements and John Musker's METAL MEN was part of that $115m write-off a while back, alongside TOTO and COYOTE VS. ACME... Because this new WBPA-DC movie we're getting is DYNAMIC DUO, a Robin story with both Dick Grayson and Jason Todd.

A hybrid film, DC Studios head James Gunn curiously described it as a mix of "animation, puppetry, and CGI"...

I was a bit puzzled by that at first, given that CGI *is* animation... Did this mean that 2D was being employed? Or was this a mesh of DC LEAGUE OF SUPER-PETS cartoony CG and realistic live-action blockbuster CG? The studio that's doing the animation for this film is Swaybox, and having seen some of their work... Including this Super Bowl ad:

We're in for a visual dynamic, game-changing picture, I reckon.

No director has been named, but THE BATMAN director Matt Reeves is involved as producer, and the script is being written by COCO and LIGHTYEAR scribe Matt Aldrich.

I felt like Warner Bros. had been dragging their feet on a theatrical animated DC adaptation after SPIDER-VERSE, though they did do the pretty fun aforementioned SUPER-PETS, and one year prior to SPIDER-VERSE you had THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE. But I mean something seismic, like SPIDER-VERSE was, like MUTANT MAYHEM was. Something like that unmade BATMAN BEYOND movie that was being kicked around a few years ago... A superhero animated feature that bothers to flip the script on what a theatrical animated movie could look and feel like? Maybe this will be that kind of movie?

Anyways, so far, the Warner animation slate...

1. i've listened to a couple of mechs songs!! i need to listen to more. i've listened to half of UDAD and a couple miscellaneous songs (pump shanty, loki, our boy jack, lost in the cosmos etc.) also i love their designs so much they're so cool looking. especially ashes i love them

2. favourite album is for sure 1896 (closely followed by mk iii) it's so so good and full of absolute bangers. favourite song,,, i have so many but on a crescendo, i'll rust with you, the pulls, intertwined, on top of the universe (steamworld heist), latum alterum, transform, bad days on the horizon, the ballad of delilah morreo, the suspender man... etc. i will start listing the whole discography if no one stops me

RABBIT!!!!! she's so silly. would do anything for the bit. but her story and character are so incredibly tragic and ougjhhghgj i have so many thoughts about her. and her tendency to carry all the people she has ever cared about with her in her music. and the fact that she still feels guilty about the 1950 incident, which wasn't her fault in the slightest :( her ever-shifting design. AND HER SONGS. so many emotions. i think about rabbit a normal amount.

4. i have so many favourite photos. i have an entire folder on my laptop of every single rabbit design chronicled by date and show for drawing reference. JKHSDF i'll put some standouts from the many photos i have accumulated under the cut:

5. i kind of have a fanbot? but she doesn't really count i think sjkdhfs. when i first got into spg it was through honeybee (like literally everyone else). and i decided to for some reason read all of the lore before listening to any other songs. and i also decided to design honeybee as a robot rabbit might have fallen in love with (and subsequently broke up with). it turns out honeybee has a canonical design i think - if the cover art of honeybee is anything to go by. oh well. i still like this funky bee bot design. maybe i'll design an actual fanbot someday!

More about each option below

These all stem from the looking at my bookshelf. So some may just be uhh bc interesting. Bc LISTEN I have to many books I've yet to read bc I want to read them all.

1. SOCCK do I need to say more? Favorite Series right here (I may or may not have it basically memorized) and I have a yearly reread of it (like with Ranger's Appretice) I haven't read it this year yet so it gets to be an option (unless you want to count the amazing comic adaptation by @ jccatstudios bc omg it's amazing)

2. Wings of Fire Series. Saw something abt it recently and I own up to Book 13 (tho I'll get 13 and 15 if I end up reading it) + Darkstalker and Dragonslayer. Waaayyyyy back when (like at least 8 years ago) when I last read it was up to Book 8. + Darkstalker I read that one too. So technically I'd read 8 new books if I read this (15 + slayer) Bc who doesn't enjoy rereading childhood books?

3. Ink by Alice Broadway. Skin series. Interesting concept - I almost picked it up once but ended up changing what I was going to read last minute (oops)

4. Uhhh Rick Riordan. Fun Fact I've never read Percy Jackson until 2021 (and before then I thought the movies were good ;-; so bad) So more of his work bc yeah. I own Kane Chronicles and Magus Chase but decided on Kane to be the choice. Peaked my interest more than the other right now.

5. Dark/Spark I got this a while ago at library book sale and and just...haven't read it yet? Superhero esc ans such and I mean look at the titles lol.

6. Hit and Run. Been wanting to read more mysteries.

7. I got the first book off of a 'blind date' book reading thing. (Like nothing but the genre and a sentence abt it wrapped in paper so you don't know what you chose until after. I just never got around to it (I'm horrible I know) I think bc I was in the middle of a different series at that time and it got hidden on my shelf (book overflow before I got more bookshelves lol)

8. Shadow Run. I've had this for a while. Idk feels like it's gonna be a hit or a miss book but I'm adding it anyway. (And I own the 2nd book to so)

9. What If It's Us. Gay. I've been telling myself to read this series for so long and I just NEVER did. Make me do it.

10. Leviathan series. Got this one semi recently, its steampunk and the books are weirdly heavy (bc it has pictures! (Wow so amazing)) Wouldn't of gotten it if I hadn't interested me some :)

Only the first 2 options are rereads (one is semi) then rest I've never read. And please, give me book recommendations!

For 30 - who are your biggest writing influences?

6. Are there any fics from others you reread all the time?

My current one that I re-read the most is Chicken, by @bleachbleachbleach because I'm obsessed with it. It's a story about what it means to share your life with a person you love, good, bad, and smelling like a chicken coop, and it is very, very beautiful and I love it. (I re-read a lot of B3's other stories, too, but in a broader rotation)

I read all of @gizkasparadise 's Renruki stories habitually, but probably that which cannot be seen (Renji dies and Ichika looks for him) and Proposals and Paperwork (Renji wants to propose to Rukia but has to deal with Byakuya first) are my favorites.

I will also go diving thru @zabiume 's Works List whenever I want something nice to read, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that I end up on she's not afraid more often than not (Renruki go on a date)

It's kind of an undertaking, but I have re-read the Roots of Heaven by paperiuni (rated M), um, a lot of times. Rukia gets lost in another dimension after the war and Renji and Ichigo track her down. It is a masterpiece, maybe one of the finest pieces of fanfic I have ever read.

It's even more of an undertaking, but A Thin Red Line, the biggest and best Hisana Lived! AU by @afinepiece is also worth an annual re-read.

Once We Closed that Distance by todaslasmadrugadas is a great story where Renji tries to step back and just be a good friend to Rukia because he thinks she's in love with Ichigo (he's an idiot). The writing style is fantastic, and it is at turns sweet and funny and emotionally devastating.

Let the Rain Kiss You by Jetamors. Kira invites everyone to his beach house (I think Kira should have a beach house) and kinda regrets it but also kinda doesn't.

Stay by eosdawnaurora. (rated M) It's just the platonic ideal of a certain kind of Renruki fic-- they're at a Kuchiki party and they have some tension and then they have sex, and it all wraps up in 7k words, what else could you want?

The Curse of the Zanpakutou by c2t2. (rated E) This is THE Bad Rukongai story and while I am not raw enough to write stuff like this, it lurks at the back of my consciousness whenever I am writing Inuzuri stuff.

13 by @mothmckrakken is a Renruki try to figure stuff out after the war fic that is just cute and fun and nice and I haven't re-read it in a while which probably means it's time again.

I think that's...enough? (I also have my favorite smuts, but that's embarassing)

I'm quite late to the news but very very happy that the mobile otome game "For All Time" is getting global server release soon with the new title "Lovebrush Chronicles"!

I started playing the game on last year November and so far really enjoy the main plot and the event stories. The gacha element can be quite annoying but being someone with unexplainable bad luck in real life -- I'm not affected much. Well I always wait for the reduced difficulty period to go through the main plot and borrow friends' strong card to push through lol

On a side note, really look forward to the game first artbook. My Taobao shipping date is before 6/11, I bet soon can see lots of unboxing videos of the book! Can't wait to see the contents!

Are you fucking kidding me?

Yeah, how’s that for a first line? Well, it was gonna be my last. Not bad as famous last words go, but there wasn’t anyone nearby to take it down, so I figured I’d stick around. Shame to die without an audience and let a good line go to waste. 

The mushroom cloud in my window made for one hell of a backdrop, though. The oranges and the blacks, all swirling together, like a sunrise, but more badass. Except, you know, sunrises usually signify beginnings, whereas this one… yeah. Still pretty, though. And you thought there were no upsides to being in the office at 6 a.m.
