I wanted to combine, in this drawing (the first of 2025) two things that I love: Danny Phantom and the Backrooms. Danny has landed in level zero, who knows if he will meet some mysterious creature of that world?

Currently obsessed with cyber(ur)ban exploration. Diving into dead games, previously populated by throngs of digital iterations of people, totally empty servers where your brain still half expects to see another player character pop in at any moment, wholly abandoned worlds whose very pixels hold the memories of what was once bustling with the sounds of enjoyment being had by all who were visiting.

Even if you've never visited these cyber spaces during their peak populations, you can tell from the eerie, still & quiet emptiness that people are supposed to be here. But they aren't.

the hidey hole isn't enough, i need someone to snatch me up and plonk me in the middle of level 974, Kitty be damned. A safe space away from everyone else, filled with amenities, free-wifi and an actual bed? count me in. Kitty can share the bed idm, it'd just be great to sleep in an actual bed instead of a pile of blankets (I never got round to compiling a bed frame or a mattress and i'm not strong enough to carry it so no judging)

I guess the reason all that Backrooms stuff has never really fazed me is because I worked in on-site networking support for a while, and literally every city's downtown district is just Like That once you get off the beaten path. Not just the really big cities, either; the one I'm currently living in has a population of less than 250 000 – metro area included – and a downtown area about six blocks across, and the service corridors still manage to do some House of Leaves shit. At one point I was trying to map the route of a misbehaving network cable, started out in a shopping mall parking garage, and ended up surfacing in the basement of the casino across the street. Totally unsecured – apparently neither the mall's administration nor the casino's managers knew that particular service corridor existed.
