sometimes. audios from popular shows that get big on tiktok are only funny in the context of tiktoks. like i go and watch the original clip where it’s from and it’s so painfully unfunny cause the animation is so stale and sucks

So, I'd like you to imagine a world where watching cartoons had become suddenly super popular over the course of a few years. Huge burst in popularity. Suddenly everybody's talking about animation. Except: -Most of those new viewers only watch Family Guy, and a good chunk of older viewers stopped watching anything except Family Guy. -Most of these new viewers have got into the habit of just listening to the audio of Family Guy, 'cos the actual animation's kinda ugly, and normally just turn the screen off and listen to the cartoon like a podcast. -These new viewers, whenever they try watching any new animation - from Bob's Burgers to Cowboy Bebop - turn the screen off and just listen to the audio, and then don't understand why these shows are any different and go back to Family Guy because it's familiar. Imagine being an animator in this world. Imagine pouring your soul into the craft of making a drawing move and emote and live, the hours of painstaking effort taken over animating a single scene. Imagine talking to supposed fans of animation who don't even bother looking at the screen to see what you've produced. Imagine making a film like Redline, a celebration of visual art and an absolute technical slam-dunk, and it flops because it's a visual medium and nobody has their screen turned on, and people go back to talking to you about Family Guy with the screen turned off.

This is what it often feels like being a designer of tabletop games in 2024. Why yes, I *am* salty.

Golden tags, absolute truth from Pink like always

This man is a disaster and anyone who tries to tell me otherwise is WRONG, Yingxing is an utter dork at heart who can’t properly approach people for the life of him. Definitely someone who struggles with small talk so anytime he meets someone new it devolves into him ranting about craftmanship, his own skills and projects, and the artisanship commission.

He gets passionate too, watching this man, who you barely know, talk about this stuff can either be seeing him light up like a child on christmas talking about the benefits to repurposing discarded ingenium parts for all kinds of projects instead of continuously putting together new parts for specific parts for certain creations or he’ll be looking like he’s on the verge of plotting a murder, about to start screaming, because the master craftsmen rejected his most recent project idea even though it has a like 50 50 risk of blowing up the entire artisanship commission but no no trust me it’ll work, I can do it, that 50% chance is barely anything I can do it just fine. This man drives so many people away by sheer accident

This is why he barely has any friends outside of the HCQ (thank god for their strong wills and his connection to Baiheng) or certain fellow artisans who have been forced to be around him and have just gotten used to him overtime, at least overtime people can realize his very unique brand of charming

Thinking about the dynamic of Yingxing and Dan Feng as it appeals to me and while I think something I've seen, the Supreme Rizzler I have so much relationship experience view of Yingxing, is funny sometimes, I just absolutely can't picture Yingxing that way at all if I'm completely honest

In my head, Yingxing is the type of person to flirt in two ways. Either cringey, cheesy joke flirting (whether to provoke a reaction or just be silly) or he unknowingly says the most enchanting and romantic things with such ease and obliviousness that its utterly charming. And for the joke flirting, the moment someone flirts back, he's an utter mess and can't respond (the reason why depends on who's flirting back).

Also also, if you look at the level of obsession he was described to have for crafting in Blade's character stories, that was a man absolutely married to his job. And given his outward attitude, I feel like he would end up pushing most potential suitors away (contrastly to how I believe the arrogance and casualness from Yingxing would be the exact reason why he and Dan Feng were able to get so close).

I don't think Dan Feng had experience with relationships either like n o w ayy, I think he barely had experiences with friendships when the HCQ got formed. Aside from the friendship part too, I think what also separates their brands of inexperience are the fact that Yingxing has had little crushes before. He's never pursued them or his feelings for various different reasons depending on himself and the other person. Meanwhile, Dan Feng has never had romantic feelings for anyone before and is panicking internally trying to process and figure out what he's feeling and just a general whole crisis over feeling all kinds of things so much stronger than he's used to.

Why Zekina and not Zina?

Glad you asked, phantom person that I use as a stand-in! Zināʾ (زِنَاء) or zinah (زِنًى or زِنًا) is an Islamic legal term referring to unlawful sexual intercourse. (Wikipedia)

I think it would be disrespectful towards islamic peoples believes to use it as a ship name as well as considering the meaning “unlawful sex” of all kinds… I don’t think it would be a good ship name.

Meanwhile Zekina is only a name and surname in a couple of countries, so basically free for grabs! Let’s go with that!

Y'all. The week before my car got stolen and this week I learned that my job is being threatened by an unjust lawsuit and had to work 50 hours. January. Holy shit lay off.

🐦Holy moly now I've learned why no one likes the audiobook of The Wind l-Up Bird Chronicle. It went from "meh I'll survive it" to YIKES TERRIBLE. Putting the book aside for now cause I'm not in the mood to read 600 physical pages with no audio book to keep things moving.

I made this to try and get better at drawing the btb characters. Frances is there instead of Penny because she gives me big Louise vibes. Cesare is spying and peeping for old times' sake. The audio is from Bob's Burgers, s3e3.

Boom animatic done, the audio is from bob’s burgers and I thought it was really fitting for luz, pip and the golden guard

The animatic is set during the au’s version of separate tides where everything is mostly the same except for the fact that Luz and Pip have different ideas of getting money to help Eda out, Luz becomes a sailor like in the show and Pip becomes the most feared pirate in the sea lmao

So when Pip ambushes a really expensive looking ship he ends up discovering that Luz is working on the ship and that it’s unfortunately owned by the Emperor, so because Luz was trying to convince the crew not to throw Pip overboard she ends up tied up alongside him and taken to be questioned by the captain, the golden guard… and then this animatic happens

Btw after that Pip is literally only still on the ship because the golden guard realises afterwards that he’s the Golden heir and that he unfortunately can’t punt annoying family members off the ship :/
