a/n: this is written based on quite literally the most romantic gesture anyone has done for me, and i already know peter is the type of boy to do this for someone he loves. i still have other wips [speaking off, im gonna make a wip list so at least yall can be updated]. let me know if you want to be added to my taglist! this is kinda badly written and shorter than usual but i hope you enjoy it!
sleep was never your best friend. you don’t know when it really started, but for as long as you can remember, you’ve never really had a good night’s rest.
every night, as your head hit the pillow, your mind would be as active as ever. and slowly, as the silence of your bedroom crept in, your thoughts would only grow louder. soon those would leak out of your mind, and crawl into your lungs and heart, like all the noise was submerging you into a deep ocean.
the longer the silence, the deeper you were pushed under, the pressure growing in your lungs. each time you took a breath, it was as if you couldn’t breathe deep enough. like the air you were breathing wasn’t actually going into your lungs.
so you would lay there in your bed, the darkness enveloping you as you tried to take deeper breaths, almost like you were trying to fill your lungs as much as you can. the feeling only grew into the night, your body and mind over exerting itself as your anxiety grew.
soon enough, you’d be asleep from the exhaustion. and you’d wake up, your limbs grown heavy from the lack of sleep as you dragged yourself up to get up for the day.
this went on for years, until you discovered the magical world of podcasts. it was a small tip you’d come by on one of those anxiety tip blogs, the ones with colorful graphics that you’d followed in an attempt to conquer, or at least control, the anxiety you dealt with.
it was odd the first time you set it up, a small speaker connected to your phone as you got ready for bed. you felt guilty, almost ashamed that you needed something like this to do something as basic as sleep, but at this point all your exhaustion and nerves overcame the guilt.
it was an odd change, filling the silence with just some voices but somehow it helped. your mind was so focused on taking in the story, their voices, that you drifted off into a deep sleep. and for the first time, you slept without any interruptions.
you started with history podcasts, ones that talked about niche stories and hidden tales that no one knew about. then slowly it became d&d, or theatrical shows. anything that provided you with a story to take your mind away from your thoughts long enough to sleep. you always had them on a timer too.
this was all until you started dating peter parker. he was your best friend since childhood, and every memory you can conjure up has him hidden in the background. he knew every detail of your life, mostly because he was the one person you could never keep a secret from.
but this was one secret he never knew about. that was until one stormy night, when you were over sleeping over at his apartment. aunt may was insistent that you not drive in the rain, and reluctantly, you agreed to stay. and it was soon settled that you’d just sleep with peter in his room ("with the door open, peter” may reminded her obviously embarrassed nephew.)
so that’s how you found yourself, cuddled into peter’s arms, wearing one of his nerdy math shirts. your body was as relaxed as ever, as the warmth of his body bled into yours, his arms firm and reassuring around you, yet your mind was overactive. the familiar anxiety crept in, and for a moment, you were frozen.
it had been a long time since you felt like this, the same paralyzing feeling taking over your body. it’d been a very long time since you’d slept without the soothing podcasts or at the very least a video playing in the background, and you’d become almost dependant on it.
“pete. do you think... could you talk to me?” you asked him, shifting your face to meet his sleepy eyes.
“you want me to talk to you? don’t you want to sleep?” he asked you, his voice low from sleep and exhaustion
“it’s okay if you can’t, i just... struggle to sleep sometimes,” you told him, suddenly embarrassed of your request, “i just need you to tell me a story, it can be anything,”
he fully looks at your now, his chocolate eyes tracing your face before nodding. you closed your eyes, as his voice started telling you about his day. and eventually, you drifted off into a sleep, his voice echoing in the back of your mind, warm in his embrace.
from then on, he was always there for you, replacing the podcasts with nightly calls to listen to him talk about his day, the weird things he saw in his patrols, the cool people he’s met as spiderman.
the boy would go as far as to swing to your house at times, still in his spidey suit as he climbed through your window, on especially hard nights. he’d climb into bed with you, holding you in his arms as he talked, stroking your hair back and drawing patterns on your skin.
it was the best thing about peter. the fact that he never asked, or pushed you to share why you needed this. he never made you feel embarrassed or shy about it, but instead took into stride, as if this was just a part of his daily routine.
and for him? it was just more time with you. more time to memorize your face, the way you fit in his arms, the softness of your skin, the way you’d breathe.
time moved fast, and before you realized, it was already your three year anniversary. it was a bright december afternoon as you made your way to the local coffeehouse. it was yours and peter’s first official date spot, and it’s the place you two always came back to, every single year for your anniversary.
peter was already seated in a corner table, with two drinks placed on the table. the boy was fidgeting more than ever, one leg vibrating with the energy he always carried inside him, when he spotted you.
you made your way to him quickly, the grin and joy almost bursting out of you as he enveloped you in a crushing hug.
“happy anniversary, darling,” you grinned as his hands cupped your face and pulled you into a soft kiss, before allowing you to take a seat. peter cleared his throat slowly before pushing forward a letter across the table.
“what’s this?” you asked, confusion filled your face, as you grabbed the letter off the table, turning it around in your hands, and inspecting every part. his familiar messy scrawl had written your name on the cover, surrounded by small stickers.
“this is uh, part one of my gift for you. um so, part two of my gift isn’t exactly... something physical,” he told you, his hands going to mess his hair, a nervous habit that only made him cuter. “check your phone. oh um and you’ll probably need headphones for this”
your phone lit up with a notification, and you took it in hand as you searched your pocket for your headphones. plugging it in, you clicked on the notification, which took you to a playlist. clicking on the very first audio file, peter’s very familiar voice flooded your ears.
“helloo. happy anniversary darling! sooo this is my gift to you, so you can sleep to my voice whenever you need to. i really hope you like this, because this playlist will be constantly updated with new episodes, maybe like 20 to 30 minutes of me just sharing stories and whatever i feel. i love you so much and i’m so glad you’re in my life, and i just want to make sure you can listen to my voice whenever you need it most.”
your mouth was open, in shock as you listened to peter talk in the file, looking at the nervous boy in front of you. he made you a podcast. a podcast so you can sleep well, so you can listen to his voice. the observant, kind boy in front of you, made you a podcast.
you ripped off the headphones, your voice shaky as you looked at him, your eyes slowly flooding with unshed tears. “peter, i-”
“do you like it? it’s okay if you don’t, but i know that you call me so you can sleep so i just wanted to make sure you can still have my voice to sleep to rather than having to wait for me after my patrols and-”
you cut him off, launching yourself at him to gather him into a kiss. it was rushed and imperfect, but it was soft, filled with everything you felt for him. you pulled away softly, your eyes searching his face.
“i love it, pete, this is... this is the best, most thoughtful gift anyone has ever given to me,” you assured him, your adoration and love for him flooding your voice. “i’m so lucky to have you.” your voice was almost raw, in surprise and just pure love for him.
“of course. anything for you, darling.” he grinned in reply, his eyes lighting up as you continued your date.
later that night, as you settled into your bed, you scrolled to his podcast, allowing the feeling and cadence of his voice to wash over you, as you were drawn into a blissful sleep.

As you began to put on your shoes, you hummed an old Christmas song to yourself. It had been a long time since you celebrated Christmas. But now that you, along with the rest of the Enterprise, were on Earth for leave over the holiday, it gave you an excuse to do just that.
A large Christmas party was being held where you were staying, for Star Fleet. It had begun nearly an hour ago, and you were getting ready to attend.
What you were most excited about, was not necessarily the party, but being able to share the Christmas holiday with Spock. The two of you had been together for a few years now, but this would be the first time you would be able to spend such a holiday with him.
He himself showed interest in the Holiday's traditions, especially how far back in Earth's history they went. He took it upon himself to research a majority of them, and you were convinced that he may now know more about Christmas than you did.
Your thoughts were interrupted when you heard a light shuffling outside your door, followed by the sound of someone signalling their presence. Walking over, and opening the door, you were expecting to see Spock. But you were confused when no one was there. Looking down the hall, you saw no one around, and heard no noise. As you stepped out, you heard a light crunch under your foot. Looking down, you saw an envelope on the ground.
You picked up the letter, and turned it over in your hand curiously. Your curiosity rose when you saw your name written on the front in Spock's hand writing. Looking once more down the hall, you closed the door and went back inside, curious as to what Spock would send you a letter for. As well as why he would flee after delivering it.
Your heart was beating rapidly in your chest as a thousand ideas ran through your head. Opening the envelope, you pulled out a folded letter on old parchment paper. This was the first time you had ever received a hand written letter from anyone. And one of the last people you would expect one from was Spock.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Y/n,
I am sure you are confused as to why I would give you a hand written letter such as this. To eliminate any anxieties that may arise, I will quickly tell you this letter contains nothing unpleasant.
In my research of Christmas traditions, I began to study other traditions from Earth, and came across the tradition of love letters. The most of which are hand written, and left for their lovers as a gift.
I wished to impart this tradition to you, as I know how much you enjoy when I express my feelings, though we both know I am inferior in this act. However, putting this aside, I wish to reiterate my strong feelings for you, in hopes that this brightens your mood.
I was never expecting to fall in love, let alone expecting myself to be able to develop such strong feelings in general. But I am pleased that you were able to elicit such feelings from me, and I was even more pleased, let alone surprised, that I could elicit feelings in yourself.
Though we have been together for a few years, I often find myself fearful that you may grow tired of me. That I may not show you how I feel as often as I should, or that I do not do enough to prove it.
After spending some time, dwelling on these thoughts, I know now, that I must try harder in the future. I know you have never pushed me to do this, nor required me too, but I find myself wanted to prove my feelings.
I do not wish to tell you everything I want to say in this letter. So, if you are able, I ask that you meet my in the gardens, in thirty minutes. I will be waiting for you by the large oak tree you pointed out to me the other day on our walk.
Sending this with as much feeling as these words can convey,
-Spock
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
You found yourself grinning as you read through the letter. You never would have expected Spock to endeavor to do anything like this. Though it was an odd way to express himself, you knew you would hold the memory, and the letter in your heart for years.
Wondering more now, what Spock wished to say to you in person began to weigh on your mind. You looked at the clock, and read that Spock intended to you to meet him at precisely at twenty-hundred hours (8pm). Which was now in 25 minutes.
You grew nervous, and held a jittering excitement in your chest as you finished getting ready and headed down to the party.
As you walked down the hallway towards the main room, you could hear the distant sound of the party. Mumbled conversation, laughter, clinking glasses, and classic Christmas music began to fill your ears the closer you got.
Entering into the large room, you were surprised at how packed it was. The room was large, but almost every space was filled with people or tables or food and drink. Every face you recognized was paired with a smile. You greeted your closer friends, and hugged those you had not seen recently.
As you moved through the crowd, your eyes searched for Spock. You knew you would see him in twenty minutes, but you wanted to meet his eyes. To maybe get a hint of his demeanor, would he be nervous, excited, or his usual impassive self when in a group of people.
Seeing Jim peaking through a crowd of people, you craned your neck to look at the people he was with. Seeing only McCoy, Uhura, and Scotty, you felt a pang of disappointment.
Was he already waiting for you in the garden? Should you go now? No. He would not want that.
Your thoughts stood still when you spotted him in the crowd across the room. He was speaking to some star fleet officers you did not recognize. You spotted him looking around the room, and wondered if he was looking for you. As his eyes grazed past the area you were standing, you frowned as he did not spot you.
You let out a dissatisfied breath as you debated walking closer. But as someone tugged on your arm from behind, you turned to see a friend you had long missed.
Glancing at the large clock on the wall, you pushed back your anxiety, and began to embrace and reunite joyfully with your friend, allowing yourself to distract your thoughts for the remaining fifteen minutes.
After talking with your friend for a short while, your eyes absent-mindedly glancing at the clock every few minutes, they left to go find their partner. Leaving you to seek out a drink, as you waited impatiently for the last five minutes to pass.
Saying hello to some more people you knew, you looked once more at the clock, seeing there was two minutes left. Looking back to where you had last seen Spock, your heart jolted a bit as you caught sight of him exiting through the back doors leading outside.
Taking a deep breath, you set down your drink and began to slip through the crowd, giving Spock some space to get to the oak tree first.
As you exited the building, you were caught off guard by the cold chill of the night. Looking out onto the gardens, you could see the top of the oak tree rising at the back of the garden.
Quickly making your way there, you began to think anxiously on what Spock wanted to say to you. You knew it would be in part, a confession of his feelings, though you already knew of those. But the idea of Spock putting his heart on his sleeve made you giddy with curiosity. He often told you how he felt with blunt compliments and reminders of his love, as well as the occasional gift. And that was enough for you, because you could see the emotion behind it. You didn't need more than that, but the idea that he wanted to give you more excited you.
As you rounded the last corner of the winding garden paths, lined with sparking light and tinsel, you spotted Spock standing underneath the large oak. Which itself was now wrapped in twinkling lights, lighting up the surrounding area.
Spock was facing away from you, his hands clasped behind his back as he stared up at the sky.
Approaching him, you softly called out. "Spock."
Spock spun around quickly at the sound of your voice, and a soft smile crossed his face as you approached. He took a step closer to meet you when you got closer.
Quickly kissing him on the cheek you smiled brightly at him. "I never knew you'd have such a graceful voice in writing."
The side of his mouth quirked up at your comment. "I was unsure if it would convey the emotion I intended. Hand writing letters to those who are not officials, is not a hobby I have taken part in."
"Well I never wold have guessed that." You said with a hint of teasing. "I loved the letter Spock, it definitely caught me off guard, but only in the best way."
His smile grew a little bit as he bowed his head slightly. "I- " He began, but stopped short, as he seemed to be unsure of what to say.
You were astonished to find him nervous, and it reminded you of years earlier when he had first confessed his feelings towards you.
"I am uncharacteristically unable to say what I want properly." He finally said, his tone holding underlying disappointment.
You smiled softly at him as you took a small step closer, placing your palms gently on his chest. "That's alright Spock, you can take your time. But, if it is just that you want to tell me how you feel, I do know Spock. Just because you aren't the best at expressing your feelings verbally, does not mean that I don't know them."
He stared into your eyes, and a soft smile ghosted his lips. Bringing up his hand, he gently caressed your cheek before planting a soft and quick kiss to your lips.
"I know you see my feelings, even better than most. And I am glad. But those feelings are not the only thing I wish to express. I wish to-" He paused as he gathered his words. "I wish to express what I want our mutual feelings to show to others."
Your brow furrowed in confusion. "What do you mean."
Spock cleared his throat a bit as he looked around, as if checking to make sure you were alone. "Since you are not Vulcan, and we are on Earth, celebrating an Earthly tradition, I thought it might be more appropriate to endeavor to suit your traditions, rather than Vulcan." As Spock stepped back, and began to kneel down on one knee, you felt your breath catch in your throat. Reaching into his pocket, you watched as he pulled out a small black box, and upon opening it, you saw a beautiful engagement ring. "I am not fully accustomed to how a human marriage proposal should be conveyed, apart from the customary confession of feelings. So, Y/n, I wish to reiterate, that I love you. That I had never imagined myself to feel so bound to someone as much as I a to you. I wish greatly, to be with you for as long as our lives allow. I never wish to be apart from you, and hope that you would agree to marry me."
As he spoke, you felt tears swelling in your eyes as your heart pumped heavily in your chest. Though you desired to spend the rest of your human life with Spock, you were never sure if he would wish to be married to you.
Nodding your head, you were almost speechless from your overwhelming emotions. But choking out a "Yes." Spock smiled in relief and pleasure.
Taking your hand in his, he locked eyes with you as he slipped the ring onto your finger. Then, pressing a soft kiss to your hand, he stood and met your eyes again.
Grinning, you wrapped your hands around his neck and hugged him tightly. He wrapped his arms around you tighter and was unable to repress his heavy emotions and happiness, and in this moment, allowed himself to embrace in them.
Pulling away, he looked into your eyes, and brought his hands to your face, before leaning in to kiss you. The kiss was gentle, and lasted a few moments before you both pulled away.
You smiled sweetly at him, before admitting your inner struggle, "Are you sure Spock? I know how complicated it will be for a Vulcan to be with a human, and I don't want you-"
"I am sure." He cut you off. "More than I have been about anything. I do not want you to worry about my decision. I am certain that I wish to spend our lives together."
You nodded your head in understanding. "I am too."
He smiled brighter now as he held your hand in his. "I must now admit, that though I did have the intention to propose to you at a point in the near future. I did learn that it is often a Christmas tradition on Earth for someone to propose to their partner. And I found I could not resist."
You chuckled softly. "I'm glad you could not. I couldn't think of a better way to spend Christmas." You paused for a moment as you studied his face. "I love you Spock."
He returned your smile as he squeezed your hands. "And I love you. Forever."
xx End xx

Blackmail /// Tendou Satori x f!Reader /// (+18)
Summary: During a game for Shiratorizawa, you plan to slip a love letter to Ushijima until Tendou catches you in the act. After stealing you letter, he blackmails you into cheering for the game without bra or panties and later fucks you the bathroom as one last request to get your letter back.
Length: 5k
Tags & Warnings: dub-con, exhibitionism, fingering, oral (fem receiving), unprotected sex, creampie, semi-possessive Tendou, praise (kind of) Tendou calls you a slut once
Authors Note: Hey, so this fic kinda doesn’t make sense emotion wise for Y/N with the soft ending, but its whatever. I had this idea for a fic and my brain refused to let me write anything else until I got it out, so enjoy. I just finished Season 3 of Haikyu and oml I simp Tendou so much I just had to write a fic for him. Regardless, sorry for any spelling or grammer mistakes and I hope you enjoy :)
Two days stood between you and the big game on Saturday. You had joined the cheer team for Shiratorizawa at the start of this year and it was truthfully one of the best decisions you had ever made. You had met so many wonderful and kind people during your time there, and most importantly, you had fallen in love. During all the times you had been in the stands cheering for the team, you had gotten accustomed to having your eyes fall to Ushijima, watching the way he moved and played— how his muscles moved under his uniform. Despite only truly speaking to him once or twice, his silent and brooding nature had utterly charmed you, leading you to the situation you were in now, waiting to give him a love letter.
You knew it was a bit of a cheesy thing to do, but you couldn’t imagine actually telling him in person. Your current plan was to slip it into his bag sometime before or after a game, but the idea of going through with it created a sinking feeling of anxiety in your stomach. So, you decided to pick a day, a day where a game was going to happen so he might be in a good mood. But, as each day passed and you got closer to Saturday you felt your choice to do it weighing on you more and more. How was he going to react? Maybe he didn’t even remember you… No, you had to stay hopeful, after all, you had already gotten this far.
The big day had finally come, and you were a nervous wreck. The entire time you were getting into your cheer uniform you couldn’t stop glancing at the corner of the envelope sticking out of your backpack. Thoughts of being rejected previous times by guys in elementary and middle school filled your head, and the more you thought about giving the note to Ushijima the less you wanted to do it.
You finished changing and looked at the clock— only ten minutes until it was time to head to the stadium. You picked up the envelope from the place in its bag and clutched it tightly in your hands. You felt like you were on a spy mission as you made your way through the hallways trying your best to seem unsuspicious. It seemed like everyone was watching you as you made your way to the boys’ locker room and your heart thundering in your chest was the only sound you could hear as you made your way there.
As you got closer to the entrance, the number of people was beginning to dwindle, sending a wave of relief over you. You didn’t want anyone seeing you entering in case word got around that someone had given Ushijima a confession. As the last few people in the hallway were leaving, you made yourself seem very invested in a poster on the wall, keeping an eye out for anyone approaching. Finally, the last person turned the corner and you darted over to the doorway, peeking inside. It looked completely empty, your eyes scanning the bags and towels strewn around the room.
Tip-toeing inside, you nervously looked for the bag with his name on it, finding it in the corner, zipped up and tidy. With shaky hands, you pulled out the envelope, trying to build up the courage to slip it inside. You felt a shiver go up through your whole body and suddenly you whipped around, coming face to face with Tendou Satori who was looming over your shoulder with a surprised sneer on his face. You jumped backward, scrambling to hide the letter behind you, and act natural.
“Whatcha got there?” he said, leaning over you and snatching the letter out of your hands. Panic was the only emotion you felt as he took it from your hands. You didn’t know where he had come from, you thought you had entered discreetly, but apparently you had missed him during your frantic search.
“N-nothing, give it back,” you said, trying to snatch the letter back but Tendou held it just out of your reach with his long arms.
“Is this a love letter?!” he said, peering up at the pink script you had written on the envelope and the heart sticker you had sealed it with. You could feel your face going bright red as regret about your decoration choices filled you.
“Oh-ho-ho, now this is good. This’ll definitely get a kick out of the team, especially Ushijima,” he said, giving you a sly smile, knowing exactly how he was making you feel. You felt tears pick at the corners of your eyes and your lower lip beginning to tremble. You knew Tendou was just saying it to get a rise out of you but the words still hurt. It wasn’t like him to tease other people so much, but the way he saw you guilty standing there, trying to hide your letter made him-- you were just too cute to not mess with.
“Give it back… please…” you said weakly, casting your eyes downward trying to regain your composure.
“Mm? And why should I do that?” Tendou said, finally taking his eyes off the envelope and shifting them to you. You hated the way that a smug expression still adorned his face, you knew that Tendou had a reputation for being a cocky and overzealous guy, which was why you had tried to avoid him any time you could, but now you regretted not gaining some good footing with him before now.
“Please… I’ll do anything,” you mumbled, desperation laced through your voice.
“Anything?” he said, punctuating the syllables as he said the word, “Now that's quite the offer.” He leaned back on his heels, letting out a “hmm,” pretending to think as he slowly waved the letter in the air between two fingers. His eyes shifted down to you again and the way you glared up at him through your eyelashes, clenching your fists at your sides. A smile grew on his face as he watched you, savoring how small and pathetic you looked trying to argue with him.
“I’ve got it. You’re on the cheer team, right? For this game I want you to go out there with no bra or panties.”
The shock was visible on your face as he said those last words. A playful grin was set on his face, but you could see that he was being serious in his eyes.
“You’re kidding… r-right?” you said, feeling your face start to go red again.
“Nope. But it's just one teensy request, I doubt anyone will notice,” he said nonchalantly, “Plus, you said you would do anything.” He still held the letter out of your reach, taunting you with it by waving back and forth, making a twinge of anger go through you.
You weighed your options, you knew you would be mortified if he shared that letter with the rest of the team, and it would probably get out to the cheer team as well making your life hellish, or you could do this. You looked down at your uniform, your skirt coming down to mid-thigh and your shirt only being the slightest bit cropped, no one would notice… right? You took a deep breath and answered, trying to keep your voice steady.
“Fine, now give it back,” you said, lunging for the letter.
“Ah-ah-ah,” he teased, “you’ll get this back later, now hand ‘em over.” He held out a palm and stared at you, shoving your letter in his pocket.
“At least turn around pervert,” you hissed, causing Tendou to let out a chuckle. He luckily obliged and you stepped into a corner while he turned away. You quickly slid your panties down and unclasped your bra, making sure to keep your eyes on him the whole time. Once you had them off, you felt so open and exposed, making you instinctively cross your arms over your chest.
“Here,” you said, holding out your undergarments for Tendou. He snatched them from your hand and went over to shove them in his bag, keeping an eye on you as you stood in the corner of the room. The annoying smile that never seemed to leave his face was still there as he looked you up and down, taking in your exposed form, but you could see an intensity in his eyes that wasn’t there before, making you shiver.
“Alright then, see you after the game,” he said, as he lazily waved goodbye, picking up his bag and bringing it with him. As the door shut behind him it took you a minute to calm down and fully realize what happened.
Panic rose in your throat as you thought about walking out there and cheering for more than an hour. You wanted to sit down and hide in this room until the game was over, but you knew you would have to leave. Walking out there would be embarrassing, but it would only be worse if the team came back after and found you in this sorry state.
You began to walk forwards, legs shaky and unstable-- you felt tears begin to fill your eyes again but you took a deep breath and swallowed, forcing yourself to continue.
Once you got into the empty hallway, you felt more exposed than before. The wide-open space and the bright fluorescent lights above made you feel like you were on display for anyone who happened to walk by. There were only two minutes that remained before the game started, forcing you to pick up your pace as you walked down the hall. You were hyper-aware of the way that your skirt and shirt moved as you walked, making sure that you were keeping covered as you passed by the last few people waiting to head into the gym.
You finally made your way into the stand above the auditorium and joined the rest of your team. As you walked in you were truly grateful for your place in the second row of the group, making it so that you didn’t have to worry about people looking up your skirt. You were finally starting to get used to the feeling of your nipples brushing up against the fabric of your shirt, but the uncomfortable drafty feeling between your legs took a little more concentration to ignore.
Being in such a large crowd of people did nothing to calm your nerves as you waited for the players to enter, constantly checking that the back of your skirt hadn’t flipped up. The whistles blew down below, making you jump in your anxious state. The players filed in, all taking their time getting organized and lined up— you held your breath as you looked at the front, where your head cheerleader was standing, getting ready to start your routine, and you took one more look at the stadium preparing for the long game you were about to endure.
By the time the last point was scored and the whistle blew you wanted to cry tears of relief. The entire game had been a nightmare, each set coming to a deuce and dragging on far longer than it should have. Shiratorizawa had lost in the end, but at this point you didn’t even care, you just wanted to leave.
Throughout the game, you had felt only a constant rush of anxiety. Every jump and cheer and shake had sent waves of worry through you as you thought about all the people standing around you. After the first fifteen minutes of the game, you had gotten used to the weird sensations of not having any undergarments on, but the thought of someone finding out had kept you on edge the entire time.
Being able to sit down and relax felt like a godsend. The rest of the crowd was depressed and complaining about how we had lost, but you hadn’t watched much of the game and didn’t really feel like participating in the pity party.
Once the crowd was starting to dissipate, you rushed down the stairs and back to the boys’ locker room, keeping your skirt down the entire time with your hands. You stood a good ways away from the entrance, so as to not draw attention to yourself, and fervorously scanned the crowd for Tendou. The rest of the team was starting to arrive, including Ushijima, who put your heart in your throat as he walked by, but Tendou was nowhere to be seen.
Finally, when you were beginning to consider running off and looking for him, Tendou stalked by, a tired and annoyed look spread across his features. Once he caught sight of you, standing patiently against the wall, he grabbed your arm and started pulling you down the hall.
“W-wait, where are we going?” you asked, trying your best to keep up with his large stride.
“What, you don’t think I’m gonna give you back your belongings here, do you?” he said in a playful tone, but he couldn’t quite hide the tone of displeasure under it. You kept quiet the rest of the time while he dragged you off into an emptier part of the building and into the bathrooms. You weakly tried to pull away from his grasp, but his grip was tight on your arm as he pulled you around.
A wave of surprise hit you though, when he shoved you into a bathroom stall, locking the door behind both of you. He stood in front of you, hand against the stall door near your head, towering over your small figure.
“You want your letter back right?” he said, staring you down. You quickly nodded your head, beginning to feel uncomfortable, trying to gauge what he was planning.
“You’d be willing to do anything for it right?” he asked, leaning in closer to you to where you could feel his breath against your ear. It took you a second, but you nodded again, this time a little more hesitantly than before.
“How ‘bout you do me one more favor then, hmm?”
“Y-you said you would give it back now though,” you said, shuffling backwards, trying to get away from him in the confined space of the bathroom. His large figure made it hard for you to find any place away from him and you felt your back hit the door as you leaned away. Everything felt very claustrophobic and you felt heat rush to your face from how close he was to you.
He took a piece of your hair between two fingers and began to play with it idly.
“I know, I know, but I think it’s only fair that you do a little more for me, after all, we just lost the game, and I’m in a bit of a bad mood,” he said, a playful smile spreading across his lips again, “plus, seeing you like that the whole time was a little distracting, so if anything you’re a little bit at fault too.” You felt your face begin to burn as the implications of his words hit you and the stall suddenly felt far too small. He shifted his head to look into your eyes, hand coming around to grip your chin and keep you in place.
“Come on baby, just one little favor and you’ll get your letter back.” His other hand came down to your exposed waist and started making its way under your shirt, his fingers drawing playful circles on your skin.
You didn’t know what to say, the urge between getting away and retrieving your letter were warring with each other inside your mind, keeping you frozen where you stood. Having people find out about it would be humiliating, but the thought of having Tendou use you like this was almost worse. You opened your mouth to respond but nothing came out, your body refused to act. His stare still bored into your eyes, waiting for an answer, but you couldn’t respond.
“I’ll take your lack of protest as a yes then,” he said, brushing a thumb across your cheek before hiking your shirt up. You felt his lips slam into yours, pinning you against the door in a deep kiss and in that moment everything else seemed to fade away-- all you could focus on was the feeling of his lips invading yours. They were warm and inviting and almost made you feel as if you wanted more, but the rational part of your brain was still screaming for you to run away.
Tendou’s hand moved from its place on your face and slid down to your ass, pulling you into him. Your hands went up between the two of you and rested on Tendou’s chest, feeling the sculpted muscles underneath his shirt. It had been so long since you had been touched like this and your body craved more but remembering who Tendou was and what he was making you do caused you to hesitate. You weren’t sure if you wanted to push him away or not, but you at least kept your hands there to keep some distance between you as your brain scrambled to try and make a decision.
You felt Tendou swipe his tongue along your bottom lip, asking for entrance to the rest of your mouth, and you reluctantly opened your lips to let him inside. He was rough and demanding with his movements, making heat creep down to your core.
The hand that was under your shirt crept up and roughly squeezed your breast and you felt a small noise slip out of your throat as it happened. You knew you were touched starved, but this was absurd, you shouldn’t be enjoying this. Tendou had blackmailed you into those slutty actions during the game, and now he was blackmailing you yet again into this— but you were enjoying it, you were even beginning to reciprocate with your lips and tongue.
Your head was too adrenaline-filled for you to think properly, and no matter how much you tried to concentrate on being rational, the feeling of Tendou pressed up against you with his tongue in your mouth brought you away every time. You could feel his movements getting rougher as he groped you, and he pulled away from your lips, a grin returning to his face as he looked down at you.
“Bend over for me baby, will you?” he said, not giving you a chance to respond before grabbing your hips to help turn you around. You placed your shaky hands against the door and sucked in a breath as you felt his hands slide up your thighs and under your skirt. Your hands felt hot against the cool plastic of the door but all you could feel was Tendou’s fingers creeping closer and closer to the wet heat between your legs, pulling on your skin and spreading your folds.
“Look at you, already soaked and I’ve barely even touched you,” he said, making your face go red. You tried to stutter out a protest, but you knew you were completely guilty. A small part of yourself felt ashamed at the way you were getting wet over Tendou’s touches— you shouldn’t be feeling this way, it was wrong, but your thoughts were quickly interrupted at the feeling of Tendou’s fingers brushing up against your entrance before pulling away, causing you to let out a small gasp. A wave of heat rushed through your body, making your head fuzzy— leaving only the desire for more pleasure in your mind.
Tendou could feel the tent in his pants growing larger as he viewed your supple thighs and ass in front of him. He had thought about this scene so often, thinking about how good you would look bent over for him, ready to take his cock, but he had to stay patient. Both of his hands grabbed your ass to keep you stable before he bent down and gave a slow lick to the inside of your thigh, making you shudder.
You could feel your hands beginning to get slick against the door as you prepared for the sensation of Tendou’s mouth against you. Once you felt his tongue swipe up against your cunt you felt your back arch and couldn’t contain the small whimper that you let out. All rational thinking was out the window and all you wanted was the feeling of him all over you.
The feeling of him lapping at your folds was tortuous, and every time you felt his tongue brush up against your clit it made your legs tremble beneath you. Despite the fact that Tendou could feel your legs beginning to get shaky, he only wanted to see you submit to him more. He tentatively slipped one finger inside of you, causing you to let out a high-pitched whine.
All you could focus on was the stretch of your insides from Tendou’s finger. He had sheathed it inside you suddenly, not letting you adjust to the feeling, and was now starting to rub against that spongy spot inside of you. You could feel your eyes beginning to go glossy from pleasure and you felt like your knees were about to give out. Tendou wasn’t giving you any time to adjust to the sensations and you could almost feel the hungry smirk on his face while he was playing with you.
When his other hand moved down to your clit it almost made you fall to your knees, but he made sure to hold you up, keeping you in your humiliating position for him to view. Almost every time he pushed his fingers into you you had to bite your lip to keep moans from coming out— any more and you didn't think you would be able to hold back.
Tendou let out a small chuckle as he watched you struggle to maintain your balance and keep quiet. He knew that you were in a secluded enough area where you could be loud, but seeing the pathetic attempt you gave only made you look more adorable. Seeing you in such a pitiful state was making it hard for him to keep his patience, but he knew he needed to stretch your tight little cunt out more before he would be able to fuck you how he wanted to.
Tendou slipped a second finger inside of you, making you clamp a hand over your mouth, and began scissoring inside of you, making sure you would be ready to take his cock.
“Good girl, you’re doing so well, you know that right?”
You felt a wave of heat go through you at the praise along with the feeling of your pussy tightening up around his fingers— earning an approving “mm” from Tendou.
“Do you think you’re ready to take me, sweetheart?” he said, beginning to go rougher on your clit, causing you to let out a gasp. You desperately nodded your head and let out a small “mhm,” wanting to have him fill you up completely.
“Come on baby, use your words for me,” he said, stilling his motions until he got an answer from you.
“Y-Yes Tendou, p-please,”
“There you go, see you can do it,” he said, pulling his fingers out of you and standing up. It took all your strength, but you turned your head to look up at him and got to watch as he stuck his fingers in his mouth, greedily sucking off the residue from your cunt. The sight made you clench around nothing and made your head go fuzzy at the thought of him enjoying the taste of you. You eagerly watched as he quickly pulled down his shorts and boxers, revealing his hard cock which already had a bead of precum at the tip.
“W-Wait T-Tendou we don’t have protection!” you said, collecting just enough consciousness to remember basic sex education.
“Shh don’t worry, I’ll pull out,” he said, placing a hand on your ass, rubbing soothing strokes with his thumb. You knew that you shouldn’t continue and that it wasn’t safe, but your pleasure-filled brain didn’t care. All you wanted was to feel him filling you up and stretching your tight little cunt out— you could worry about the consequences later.
The feeling of the tip of his cock pressing up against your entrance was enough to make you whine out his name, begging for more. Waiting was causing you too much agony and you began to buck your hips against him, trying to push him inside you.
“Eager aren’t we,” he said, his voice more strained than before. He slowly began to push his dick into you, causing your eyes to roll back and a needy moan to fall from your lips. You could hear his breathing getting ragged behind you as he got further into your tight cunt, filling you up more than you had ever been before. He was only halfway inside of you by the time he hit your cervix . The pain of having him so deep inside of you was masked by the utter ecstasy you felt from thinking about how much he was stretching you out.
Tendou was leaning over you, one hand gripping your hip while the other was wrapped around your waist pulling you up against him. You could hear his ragged breathing next to your head and the way his breath hitched as he pulled out of you before ramming back in.
He didn’t give you nearly enough time to adjust to his size, and the pace he was fucking you at was ruthless, causing a dull pain to form in your cunt as he began to bruise it. Eventually, though, you adjusted to the feeling of your walls being stretched so far and began to only feel the pleasure as his cock dragged along your slick insides.
You were unable to keep your mouth shut and had resorted to letting it hang open, allowing all your moans and whimpers to fall out. Your hands were beginning to slip against the door as Tendou continued to rail you and you scrambled to keep supporting yourself.
“Fuck baby, you’re so tight… so, so tight, just for me…” Tendou mumbled, his eyes shut tight trying to concentrate on not cumming inside of you. The way you felt around him was better than he ever could have imagined. He had to make sure you came before him, he wanted to cum with you so badly— he needed to feel your walls flutter around his cock as you moaned his name.
“How does it feel, sweetheart? Does it feel good? Tell me it feels good. I wanna hear you say it,” he rambled, his movements becoming more sloppy as he continued to fuck into you. His hand moved down to your clit and began to roughly play with it, causing you to tighten up around him.
“I-It feels so good Tendou mm- I-I love it so much,” you whined, only halfway aware of what you were saying.
“I’ve wanted to fuck you like this for so long. I’ve been interested in you for so long too— but you only want him, you only want Ushijima don’t you, you fucking slut.” His words mixed with his harsh tone confused you as you tried to decipher the meaning of them. It was so hard to think with him pistoning into you like this, making you go loopy.
“Tell me that you love me, not him, I wanna hear you say it so badly,” he said, his fingers digging into your hip, sure to leave bruises.
You weren’t sure why you said it, but it slipped out of your mouth before you could truly think about it, “I-I love you Tendou, I-I love you more than anyone else.” Those words were enough to bring him right to the brink of orgasm, making him have to fully concentrate on fucking you as hard as he could to get you to cum first. The combination of his fingers rubbing your clit in tantalizing circles and the feeling of him ramming into your womb was what caused you to finish. You felt the tension in your stomach snap and you let out a loud moan as your walls spasmed around him. You heard Tendou mutter a string of curses, trying his best to remain calm and in control.
“Fuck, baby you’re so tight, I don’t know if I can pull out,” he said, his grip on you digging into your skin. In your fucked out head the thought of having him cum inside you was almost too much— despite your safety you wanted to feel it.
“P-Please, please cum inside me, please I want it so badly,” you moaned out, not even processing what you were saying. Even though he knew he should pull out, hearing your cute little voice beg for him to fill you up was too much for Tendou, making him ram into you a few more times before cumming with you. You could feel his hot cum spilling into your pussy and dripping out the sides, making your legs weak.
As you were both coming down all that could be heard was the heavy breathing from both of you echoing in the bathroom. Tendou pulled out, letting the mixture inside of you begin to drip out. He held you tightly, making sure that you didn’t fall over or hit your head on the door in front of you.
You felt so worn out once you came down from your orgasm. The only thing you wanted to do was to lay down next to him but you knew you couldn’t in such a confined space.
You slowly moved your arms, trying your best to maintain your balance as you turned around to wrap your arms around his neck. You both sat down, and Tendou cupped a hand behind your head, running his fingers through your hair. The thoughts about Ushijima and blackmail had completely left your mind and the feeling of him beneath you, strong and warm, was the only thing you wanted to focus on.
After a few minutes Tendou broke the silence, tilting your head up to look at him, “So, do you still want your letter back?”
You scowled at him, receiving a small laugh before you nestled back into his chest, ready to fall asleep.

My Date with the President’s Daughter
Spencer Reid x Female Reader (Spencer POV)
Summary: Spencer has a date with the President’s daughter, who he’s been dating for a while in partial secret. He hasn’t seen her in person for a while so he’s had to settle for another form of communication.
A/N: Ok just to get this out of the way— this is not a politically charged fic, I don’t express my own political beliefs in this fic nor do I express my opinion on the beliefs of others. The president in this fic is entirely made up and I just thought it would be cool to release it on Inauguration Day like the nerd I am. I do not want a political debate in the comments, this blog is not meant for that. This fic is for fun and to make people a little happier in these trying times. Please respect my wishes. This was a really fun way to write a twist on Spencer dating someone famous and- I wonder if anyone can spot the West Wing reference I used 🤔Thanks to @spencers-dria again for always helping me out with my fics 🥰This is also apart of my unlinked fic series called Spencer Reid & Letters! Requests are open and thank you for reading!
Warning: Vague political talk, References to keeping their relationship secret earlier, Avoiding the paparazzi- that should be it.

She didn’t have to put her short little letter to me on the back of a postcard, but she always did it this way. I remember when she first told me why she did it. We were sitting cuddled up on my couch at the early start of our relationship. I had asked her why she always insisted she send her letters on the back of a tiny card, she would’ve had so much more room if she got out a piece of paper.
She said she got into the habit of sending them to her father whenever he was away on business. Her handwriting had been horrible as a child according to her and her father had suggested she try to fit all of her thoughts onto a postcard. So, now she sent all of her letters neatly handwritten with the smallest of letters, so small you could almost barely read them, on the back of a postcard.
The postcard I had gotten late today, delivered by one of the last people on duty this late at night, was a picturesque view of the White House. The grass bright green and the outside covered in pure crisp white, a statuesque image of American democracy. Now, she didn’t send this to me because she wanted to express her political views and patriotism in a postcard, it just so happened to be where her father lived.
The fact that she was the President’s daughter used to intimidate me a lot when I first met her. I hadn’t immediately connected the dots in my head that she was the first daughter when we first met, though I could tell I had seen her somewhere before. Though, my first assumption was that maybe she had been a regular at my favorite coffee shop, not the daughter to the President of the United States. Literally my biggest boss.
First time I met him was also my first time in the east wing; she had some help from her secret service detail to sneak me in through the back. I only ever nervously stutter when I’m in intimidating or stressful situations and I’m pretty sure I barely got a sentence out the first ten minutes after I had met him. Luckily, he did seem to like me, though I’m not really sure why. Y/N told me once it was because he found my intelligence extraordinary and my constant willingness to share facts endearing. I always blush when I remember that, she was always so sweet to me and the fact that her family loved me as well caused my heart to swell exponentially. I stared at the captured view for a few seconds longer before the dots had fully connected in my head, I may have an eidetic memory, but sometimes it took me a minute to get her subtle hints. She didn’t actually live at the White House, she had her own house in D.C. But, this postcard meant one thing. She’s home.
Each postcard she sent me had a picture of wherever she was while she was traveling the world, it was a small gesture that made me feel closer to her, I always tried to imagine I was there with her at every location she sent. She had been out of the country for at least a month on business and even before that we hadn’t seen each other for a while, I had been stuck on a long case that kept me away from her for half a month.
A month and a half, that’s how long it's been since I’ve had her in my arms. I turned over the card expecting to see it filled with more words than most people would think could fit on the back of a postcard to let me know when I could see her, but this was not the case. Instead, the back of the card contained less words than normal. Only the words- meet me at 10pm at our usual spot.
My body moved faster than my brain, getting up to pack up all my things to rush to our usual spot. My watch sat over my cardigan sleeve on my wrist and it blinked up at me letting me know I only had 30 minutes till I had to get to the other side of town.I still had some paperwork left, but enough that I could push it off till the next day. Once I had gotten all my stuff together I scurried over to leave through the glass doors.
“Are you heading home, Spence?” A voice from inside the bullpen called out startling me out of my thoughts, I had thought everyone had left for the night. I turned around to look at the owner of the voice, JJ, who had come back from the break room to finish her large stack of paperwork that still remained.
“Actually no- I have a date.” A small shy smile made its way onto my face, I still felt very shy when I talked about my relationship with the team. When I had first told them after around 8 months into our relationship, they had thought I was pulling their legs. Once they did realize that I was in fact, not bullshitting them as Morgan had suspected, the questions had immediately come down on me. The ogling at my relationship never really ceased in the months after it had come out to the team, and the rest of the world. We mostly still tried to keep it under wraps, but the fact that the press now knew about me after some photos got leaked from a date only made the team ogle even more.
“I don’t think I’ll ever get used to who you go on dates with, it’s like something out of a movie.” JJ joked, then yawning again and leaning her face into her palms. “Well- I still have a lot of paperwork to do, you go enjoy your night, Spencer. I know you haven’t seen her in a while.”
My mind had already begun to shift away from JJ as soon as she brought her up, I was practically vibrating in anticipation, I couldn’t wait to see her.

The rare book store on the east side of Quantico had been my favorite for years, ever since I had moved out here from Vegas actually. So much so that the owners, an older couple named Margaret and Dan, both knew me by name and knew almost exactly what books I wanted every time. The both of them had immediately jumped at the chance when I had hesitantly asked them to let the both of us meet up here, I had been desperately trying to find a place outside of my apartment where we could meet up.
When I entered the shop through the back it was already deserted just for us, she must have contacted Maggie and Dan to ask them if we could have the store for the night. The store was packed full of the rare books the owners had both acquired over the years, ranging from old tales and poems written by Edgar Allan Poe, the dark brother’s Grimm tales, to almost any old book that you could think of. It was almost to the point where I thought maybe Maggie and Dan should upgrade to a bigger shop.
“Long time no see.” A voice piped up from the mostly dark corner where she sat in a dark green armchair only partially illuminated by a standing lamp. Broad grins broke out on both of our faces before we both ran to each other, engulfing ourselves into an overwhelming bear hug.
“I missed you so much you don't even know.” Tears prickled at the edge of my eyes, though I wasn’t afraid to admit that us being apart for so long made me tear up.
“I've got a pretty good idea, I missed you so much as well.” She sniffed and then sighed into the crook of my neck. I moved my hand up to cradle her head to try and bring her as close as possible to me, even though there was already not even an inch of space between the two of us.
A nagging thought was dancing around in my brain, the card was so short and abrupt. It wasn’t like her to not be long winded whenever she wrote to me, she even had a tendency to be worse than I was sometimes.
“Why was the card so short? You feeling ok?”
“I just couldn’t wait to see you… It’s been so long since I’ve seen you...” Her tone of voice made me sad, it had been so lonely for me as well when we were apart. “I never want to be away from you for that long ever again.”
“Move in with me.” The words blurted out of my mouth before I could really think about my words. I didn’t care whether it would be feasible or not, I just knew I never wanted us to be apart for so long ever again.
“Well-“ I cringed a little at her words sensing a rejection, I worried that I had just screwed it all up by asking. However, again she surprised me, “We might need to get a new place to settle my father’s worries about security.”
I breathed out a breathy laugh of relief at her words, enveloping her into a bruising kiss, my worry and anxiety immediately melting away. I couldn’t wait for the next chapter of my life with the President’s daughter.

vengeance / chapter 10: loving
chapter 9: anxiety | chapter 11: manipulating
vengeance masterlist
(this chapter contains smut, be warned)
Midoriya stood angrily in front of his tv screen, clenching and unclenching his fist as he practically burned holes into the reporter in front of him.
Of fucking course he got away you idiot, you didn’t make sure to tie him down or anything.
Hearing that the man who had been trying to hurt you was running around free somewhere made him feel something he hadn’t felt in a long while. Anger.
Not just anger, but the white, hot anger that burns in your throat and makes you feel like you’ll explode if you hold onto it for any longer. The kind of anger that causes your vision to go black and allows your instincts to take over instead. Adrenaline pushed anger.
He hadn’t even felt this way when he saw Ito’s room filled with you, or even the handcuffs on the bed. Because before, Ito hadn’t really made any moves to harm you (besides that one time, but he’d been there to save you). But now, he knew more than ever that Ito was going to try and get you if he had the chance. And that very much like himself, Ito was desperate.
And he hated it.
You were one of the only people that Midoriya had loved after so long, and after such heartbreak. For the first time, the constant pain he felt in his heart had disappeared. He realized that the second you left the bookstore, when the moment you were out of his sight the burning feeling returned. He hadn’t even realized that when he first saw you walk in, already enamoured with your simple grace and elegance.
And the fact that he didn’t have one, but two people that were trying to rip you away was eating him up inside.
He couldn’t stand to see you and Kacchan walking around and joking. He couldn’t stand seeing another man try to make plans to keep you for himself.
He reached into his pocket and took out the crumbled photo of you and Bakugou, his eyes twitching uncontrollably as he stared at the lewdness of the whole affair.
He couldn’t get over both yours and Bakugou’s facial expressions. Mouth open and panting. Eyes wide open and fluttering as you both only concentrated on yourselves.
More than anything, he was focused on the way you looked, pressed up against the window like that. You didn’t have a care in the world in your expression. It looked like neither of you gave a single fuck whether or not you’d be spotted in a compromising position like that.
Midoriya grunted breathlessly, feeling his cock become hard and erect in his pants. It was straining against the cotton fabric of his jeans, and he so desperately wanted to let it out and relieve himself.
With the image of you being fucked right in front him, his mind was crawling into its deepest corners as he placed himself as Katsuki in the photo. Oh how he’d fuck you right up against the wall for everyone to see and admire. He couldn’t keep himself from thinking about how you’d writhe beneath him as he filled you up and made you see stars.
He was already laying himself down on his couch, one hand down his pants stroking himself over his underwear, and the other holding the picture right in front him while he groaned.
Kacchan’s face was right up in your hair, most likely letting your sweet aroma surround him and take him further. Midoriya longed for that feeling more than ever in the moment he was in, and that's when his eye caught the bag of clothes you’d handed him earlier in the bookstore from across the room, remembering that you’d worn them hours earlier.
In less than ten seconds he was hovering over the clothes lying beneath him on the couch, while jacking off into his hand as if it was a pocket pussy, all the while groaning out the sweet nothings he would’ve said if it was you beneath him. He could almost feel the way your tight hole would’ve clenched around him, and he could see the way your eyes would stare up at him in sheer ecstasy as he pushed himself into you.
It wasn’t long until his breath was shuddering and his body stuttered as thick loops of cum splattered into his hand and dripped onto the couch.
He fell onto the leather in exhaustion, the scent of you immediately taking up his senses as he dropped face first into the shirt. Sighing, he brought himself closer to the scent, imagining that he was enveloping you in his arms as you slept in exhaustion.
…
You woke up cuddled in heavy arms that pressed you against what felt like a human heater. You tried to adjust yourself slightly, only for Katsuki to react by pulling you in tighter.
“No..” he grumbled.
“Katsuki, you’re making me sweat.”
“Mmm..”
“Katsuki please,” you whined, trying to wriggle out of his grip.
He finally let his arms relax around you, allowing you to adjust yourself. And that’s all you thought you needed, but it felt like you were suffocating as everything that happened last night jumped back into your mind.
You pushed yourself up from the bed and left the bedroom, not really hearing Katsuki’s protests as you walked into the kitchen.
It was too much. You couldn’t stay any longer.
Staring out at the gray sky from the window in the kitchen wasn’t helping too much either. You were terrified.
And when two arms wrapped around your waist, you yelped in surprise only for Katsuki to shush you as he dropped his forehead onto your shoulder. And you both stood like that for a while, as he rocked you slowly back and forth.
“M’guessing you saw the news?” he grumbled against your shoulder.
“Yeah.”
And he understood.
As terrified as he’d been feeling from last night, he realized it was worse for you. You had no idea how to deal with any of these situations. You hadn’t had to experience hero school and all that came with it. And as angry as he was about it now, he couldn’t even imagine how horrified he would’ve been if he hadn’t gone through all that he did.
And that meant it was his job to help you with the shock.
“You’ll be okay,” he said as he rubbed your waist slowly. “I promise nothing will happen to you, okay?”
You only nodded your head, biting the inside of your lip as you observed some of the people that were walking below the window. The only thought running through your head was how anyone of those people could’ve been the man who’d been following you for so long.
“Hey,” Katsuki interrupted your thoughts, spinning you around to face him.
“I’ll take care of this, got it? I’m never letting anyone hurt you.”
“Yeah,” you mumbled, pushing yourself into his chest.
He only wrapped you in his arms, maintaining the silence between you. The warmth that you both shared was a mutual understanding.
It was a comfortable moment, in which the both of you tried to push all the problems of the world somewhere they wouldn’t hurt as much, and tried to focus on the other. It wasn’t easy, and you wanted to cry into his chest.
But how could you?
At this point, it seemed like you were being the burden of the relationship. You couldn’t help but begin to push the idea that it was your fault that all this was happening. Maybe if you hadn’t been so.. Friendly, or inviting.
Katsuki almost read your mind as he felt a few tears press onto his shirt, rubbing your back as he held you tighter against himself.
He was going to find this man and kill him.
“It’s okay,” he soothed. “I got you. You’re safe.”
“I’m sorry,” you mumbled after a few moments. You pulled yourself out of his embrace to try and wipe the tears that were running down your face.
You hated it when you cried in front of others.
“Don’t apologize,” he said as he brought his hands up to cup your face gently. His thumb swiped lightly under your eyes and he gave you a slight smile. “It’s not your fault. It’s never your fault in situations like these.”
The two of you stood dripping in the rain. One silent and the other with tears in their eyes.
“It’s all my fault. Everything is all my fault. I shouldn’t even be here anymore.”
Katsuki buried his face back into his hands as he hiccuped. It was stupid that you of all people were seeing him like this. Not only that, but he’d spilled out his guts to you instantly.
It made it feel like everything that he thought about himself was true.
He was weak. He was worthless.
“You’re wrong.”
He looked back up at you, watching as you crouched down to his level on the floor and wrapped your arms around him.
You were wet and cold, just like he was, but the feeling between you was warm. He buried himself into your arms, uncaring of what you thought of him in that moment.
“It’s not your fault. It’s never your fault in a situation like this.”
You met his eyes at the recognition of his words, seeing him give you a slight, yet reassuring smile.
He pulled you in once again, his lips meeting your forehead as his heart rate began to slow.
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”

You moved to DC for a few reasons, the first of which was that you wanted to get the fuck out of Virginia.
The move to Richmond from Manassas hadn’t even helped much: you were working in your dream field and had some distance from your family, sure, but Virginia’s still the South. And after you came to a very poignant realisation about yourself earlier in the year, you wanted to get as far away from the bigotry that defined your lived experience there as possible.
The second reason was that you missed Aaron. Your brother had moved away when you were only little, but you’d always been close and he was the only family member left that you felt you could genuinely trust with your secret, even if the idea of telling him that you liked women still left you frozen with fear.
So when he invited you to brunch with his colleagues at the FBI you agreed in a heartbeat, it seemed like a great way to meet new people in your new city and spend time with your incredibly busy older brother simultaneously.
If you had any doubts about your sexuality, Emily Prentiss would have eradicated them. As soon as she’d walked into the cafe, her enigmatic presence had captivated you and you were hooked, addicted, obsessed. She smiled warmly at you but all you could do was stare dumbly at her as you shook her hand, eventually managing a weak smile in return. It was as if she was glowing, the others dimming in comparison as you took in her breath-taking beauty. Every time she spoke your breath caught, aching to bask in her voice for the rest of your days.
It felt so dramatic, childish almost. You’d never understood that ‘take your breath away’, ‘at first sight’ kind of love, but you knew it as soon as you met Emily.
But Emily was this gorgeous, confident woman. You knew she was a lesbian, she didn’t hide that from anyone and frequently made jokes about it, and while you shared her identity, the way you approached it couldn’t have been more different. Sure, if anyone looked hard enough, they would catch the adoring looks you sent Emily at every get-together, the way you blushed at any interaction with her. Hell, even she probably knew.
But it could never happen. After years of conservative indoctrination and being surrounded by people convinced of your ‘sin’, you were still on your journey to accepting yourself, still sometimes sick to your stomach every time you remember that you weren’t ‘normal’, that your parents wouldn’t see you as their daughter as soon as you told them. So you hide under layers of facade, wear a mask of confidence over your crippling insecurity and internalised homophobia, pretend that everything’s fine when it feels like you’re crumbling under the surface.
You thought you’d crumble further when Aaron inevitably discovered the truth about you, but really it’s the moment where your foundation starts to rebuild itself. It happens completely accidentally one evening, you don’t mean to come out at all. You’ve been so careful at using gender neutral language for so long. You always talked about a future ‘partner’, said ‘they’ when talking about prospective relationships, the kind of words that don’t attract questions or attention. But you slip up.
“Have you thought about getting back out there, Y/N?” Aaron asks one evening, when you’re both sitting on his couch having a much needed catch-up. “I know it’s been hard after you and Samuel broke up, but maybe you should think about putting yourself back in the scene.”
“God, Aaron, you are not talking about my love life, please,” you groan, swatting his arm lightly. He’s not usually interested in what’s going on in your romantic relationships as long as you seem happy, but it’s been pretty obvious how low you’ve been recently. It’s sort of sweet that he’s talking about something he feels so awkward about to try and make his sister smile.
“I’m serious,” he smiles fondly. “I want to see you happy again, like you were with Tom, remember?”
You were not happy with Tom. You’re not sure you’ve ever been happy in a relationship (for the obvious reason that none of them were women) but you’re pretty damn good at pretending, so you can hardly blame him.
“Ahh, I don’t know, Aaron,” you grimace. You can’t think about anyone but Emily right now, God you’ve tried to move on but everyone seems to pale in comparison at the moment. “When I finally get a girlfriend I want it to be real, you know. An accidental meeting, nothing manufactured…”
You trail off as you see his eyes widen and face contort in surprise. Immediately, your stomach sinks and eyes brim with tears as you realise how badly you’ve fucked up. Jumping up from the sofa, you run to the bathroom and lock yourself in, barely able to contain the sobs as you feel your world implode around you. Fuck, you’re out. Aaron knows.
You sink down to the floor and fold yourself as tightly as possible, trying to hold yourself completely as you feel your walls crashing down, anxiety taking over. It’s only minutes after you’ve barricaded yourself in the bathroom that you hear the knocks at the door.
“Y/N,” Aaron says softly. “It’s okay, I’m not angry, I was just surprised. Why don’t you come out and we can talk about this? I’m not mad, I promise.”
It feels like it must be some sort of trap. Surely Aaron isn’t really okay with it? Choosing to trust your brother despite your scepticism, you peel yourself out of your protective position and splash some cool water on your face in an attempt to calm yourself down a little before unlocking the door.
You must look utterly miserable because Aaron’s face immediately softens and he envelopes in a warm, protective hug, the kind that used to reassure you in your childhood and still has the same effect today.
“Why didn’t you tell me, Y/N?” he asks as he guides you to the sofa, voice gentle.
You take a deep breath before you explain everything, finally unloading the emotional turmoil that’s been whirling around inside you for months, connecting with another person properly since you realised yourself. You weren’t lying anymore; Aaron knew the truth.
Aaron basically forces you to stay over that night, tucking you in the way he used to do before he left for college, left for Washington to be a big bad FBI agent. You don’t fight him. It’s nice to be taken care of again, to feel really close to your brother for the first time in a long time.
Instead of crumbling, your foundation is firmer. You genuinely feel like you can do this, like you have a happy future ahead of you again.
⭐️
It’s a Tuesday evening and you’re running across town, butterflies swimming in your tummy. An excited smile is playing over your face on the metro, in the taxi, while you run down the road towards Aaron’s apartment. You keep checking your phone to confirm this is really happening, but the text message isn’t leaving; it isn’t a delusional mirage borne from isolation and desperation.
Hi Y/N, how would you feel about grabbing coffee with me later this week? ;) Feel like we haven’t had a chance to properly get to know one another! Let me know - Emily
You pound on the door as soon as you get there, knowing Jack is at a sleepover with his friend tonight, squealing as soon as Aaron opens the door. He smiles amusedly as he lets you in, practically bouncing with excitement as you thrust your phone in his face. “Is this what I think it is?” you ask eagerly as he reaches a hand to steady your shaking ones so he can read the message.
“I don’t know, Y/N,” he says. “It could be. I’ve seen the way Emily looks at you, this looks like an invitation on a date to me, especially with the winky emoticon, but equally, she might just be asking you as a friend.” He smiles sympathetically as he says that, hating to temper your excitement. He’s never seen you this happy over a prospective partner and he doesn’t know how he missed how unhappy you were with men.
You giggle at Aaron speculating over the message as you would’ve done with your girlfriends back home. “She doesn’t know I’m gay,” you reason. “But I’m pretty obvious so she probably guessed. Maybe she really does want to go on a date with me!”
“Well, why haven’t you messaged back?” he asks.
“I wanted to tell you first,” you say, a little shyly. It was just nice to share in your truth with somebody. You couldn’t help feeling so eager about it.
He smiles fondly down at you. “Why don’t you make your message back a little more flirty?” he suggests as he makes his way to the kitchen to get you both a drink.
“Ooh, okay,” you muse. Subsequently, the next half an hour is spent agonising over the appropriate response, giggling and squabbling together in the way you used to before life got in the way.
Emily, I’d love to! It would be a great pleasure to spend some more time with your gorgeous self ;) How does Thursday at Cooper’s work? Maybe late morning?- Y/N
As long as we don’t get a case, I’m there :) - Emily
(If Aaron does his utmost to ensure there isn’t a case, well that’s nobody’s business but his own.)
⭐️
After agonising all morning over the perfect outfit, you hurry across the city to get to your favourite cafe in time to meet Emily. You arrive first, ordering yourself a coffee and a pastry and finding a cosy seat in the bay window, your favourite spot. Thankfully, it’s not overly busy and Emily spots you as soon as she walks in not long after you’ve sat down, grinning widely as she approaches.
“Y/N, I’m so glad we could finally do this,” she says earnestly as she gives you a hug.
“I know,” you smile shyly, returning her hug and revelling in having her so close, feeling the warmth of her body against yours, catching the gentle notes of her perfume.
“I’ll just go order a mocha and I’ll be right back,” she smiles, heading over to the counter.
You sit back and just watch her, how graceful and powerful she looks as she moves, how assertive and confident she is. Her gorgeous raven hair frames her face so perfectly and her body looks so strong under her smart, professional but stylish outfit. She smiles beautifully as she comes back over, holding a pastry in her other hand.
“Ah, another pastry addict,” you say, still a little shy and flustered.
“Oh, don’t you know it,” Emily chuckles self-deprecatingly. “Nothing better than a buttery pastry mid-morning, right?”
“Mm, I’ve got a huge sweet-tooth,” you confess. “I’ll do pretty much anything for a sweet treat.”
She laughs loudly at that, looking at you with so much warmth you think she might light you on fire. “I don’t blame you,” she agrees. “The team knows that if I’m grumpy, all I need is something sugary and I’m back on track.”
“You’re so lucky to have such a wonderful team,” you tell her, smiling back at her. “I’m so jealous of you and Aaron, surrounded by all these amazing people.”
“Oh, I know it,” she says. “Found family is important, and I rely on them a lot. I never thought getting into the FBI would change my life this much.”
“Oh, really? What led you to the academy?” you ask, gazing at her adoringly, not bothering to hide it. If you’ve misread the situation, so be it. You’re fed up of hiding, you’re going to take this risk, dive head first into it.
You chat amicably over coffee and pastry for over an hour, and when she frowns and tells you she has to get back to work, you can’t help the raging disappointment inside you. You’ve never felt this connected to somebody, ever. Maybe it’s just that Emily is the first woman you’ve allowed yourself to crush on properly, but it feels like more than that. It feels real, reciprocated even. You can’t help the burning excitement in your chest as you think about what it might be like to be close to her, to call her your girlfriend, to kiss her, to come home to her.
She gives you another hug before you part ways and the smouldering imprint of her body against yours keeps you warm the whole journey home.
⭐️
It’s nearing 7pm when you hear the knock at the door. You uncurl yourself from your cosy position on the sofa and put down your hot chocolate, leaving the movie you’re watching playing quietly in the background as you get up to answer it.
“Emily?” You’re a little bewildered to be honest. Wrapping your cardigan a little tighter around yourself, you send her a puzzled look, but you’re curious, too. “What are you doing here?”
“I need to tell you something,” she says, face serious. “I’m done screwing around; we’re not children, so let’s talk about this like adults.”
Right on cue, butterflies start swimming in your tummy, partly nerves, partly warm fuzzy hope. “Okay,” you say, still a little confused, but you guide her to the sofa and gesture for her to speak.
“I like you,” she says, taking a deep breath. “I’ve liked you since I met you and you intrigue me. I want to know more about you. I think you’re absolutely gorgeous, inside and out, and I’d love to take you out for dinner, on a proper date.”
You’re stunned for a moment, not entirely sure you’re actually awake. “Yes,” you say as soon as you reboot, reaching out to grab her hands gently. “Yes, please, that sounds amazing. I like you, too, I’ve liked you since I first met you.”
Her face lights up at your admission as you share a heated look before leaning in for a gentle kiss. You scoot a little closer to her and place your hands tentatively on her waist, only feeling emboldened when she leans a hand up to place on your neck, the other finding your hip. As you melt into her touch you feel her melt into yours, a mutual melding; a coming together.
It doesn’t stay chaste and gentle for long, however, quickly finding a rhythm that properly conveys the intense passion and amour filling the room, Emily eventually leaning forward and pushing you back slightly on the couch so she can lean more of her weight on you. This must be heaven. No kiss has ever felt like this, not even with your long-term boyfriends, no-one has ever made you feel the sparks that are flashing in your tummy right now.
“Hey, is this too fast?” she asks as she pulls back a bit, breathing heavily as she reaches a hand up to brush some of your hair away from your face. “Do you want to slow down?”
“No, no,” you deny, desperate to continue. “I don’t want to stop, I just… I haven’t been with a woman before.”
Your confession is shy, tentative; you don’t want to scare her off, but she simply smiles softly down at you, continuing to gently caress your hair. “Don’t worry about that,” she says. “We’ll see where this takes us and if you want to stop or slow down just tell me, alright?”
“Yeah,” you agree before leaning back in to continue the kiss, pushing your hand up under her shirt slightly and feeling her toned abs, the soft curve of her waist. It only serves to make you wetter, the feel of a woman under your palms more euphoric than you ever could have anticipated.
She moans as you explore her midriff, pushing your shirt up to do the same, and if you thought feeling a woman was amazing, being felt by one feels incredible, shivering under her touch as she runs her fingers up and down your waist, pushing your shirt up even more to caress the sides of your breasts.
“Off.” You obey and sit up a little bit to shrug off your cardigan and t-shirt as she does the same, both left only in your bras and pants, pressed skin-to-skin on the sofa. “Fuck, you’re so gorgeous, Y/N,” she moans, kissing you deeper as she tangles her fingers in your hair, tugging a little at the strands.
“Emily,” you whine as her other hand comes to your breast, teasing you with a finger slowly before running her thumb over your nipple through your lacy bra, squeezing gently. You’re already a dripping mess for her, this is already the best sex you’ve ever had, and you’ve barely started.
“Let’s go to the bedroom,” she suggests, pulling back a little to sit up before taking your hand and letting you lead the way. “Take your bra off and lie down on the bed.” Her voice is soft but there’s an authority to it that calms you slightly. You may not know exactly what you’re doing but Emily does and she’s going to take care of you.
“I have a few toys,” you confess shyly as you follow her orders, watching her with blown pupils all the while. “They’re washed and clean, and there are condoms and latex gloves, too.”
“Oh?” Emily asks, quirking an eyebrow slightly.
“They’re in the bottom drawer,” you say, blushing wildly as you share your sex toy collection with the woman you’ve been crushing pretty hard on for a while now.
She immediately lights up and rummages through, a playful smirk colouring her face as she pulls out a few options. You take in the fairly sizable dildo -- a favourite of yours -- the finger vibrator you’d bought only last month and a butt plug you’d had for years with hungry eyes, excited for what she has in mind.
“Before we really get going, let’s talk,” Emily smiles gently, leaning over to kiss you softly before pulling back. “What are you into, up for, wanting to try?”
“I’m not really sure,” you say, blushing awkwardly. This kind of discussion is fairly foreign for you. “I’ve never enjoyed sex before because it was always with a man.”
Emily pulls a face to make you laugh before nodding in agreement. “Okay, well how about I tell you a few of the things I like and you can tell me if you’re comfortable with them? And if you do try it and you’re not into it we’ll just stop, yeah?”
“That sounds like a plan.”
“Great. I like to be on top mostly, I’m quite a dominant person but I can tone that up or down to whatever you like, too,” she starts. “I’m very into dirty talk -- a little mild verbal degradation etcetera -- I love clitoral stimulation and don’t get much from internal simulation so maybe you could use this finger vibrator on me while I tell you what to do? And I could use this dildo on you if you’d like, the butt plug, too?”
“With my boyfriends the only time they could make me cum is if they got really into dirty talk, calling me names and stuff” you confess, “so that works for me, especially if you alternate with praise. And I’m happy for you to top and be more dominant, that sounds… good. All of what you said, I want, except I think the butt plug is a bit adventurous for today?” Your face must be fire engine red but Emily is looking at you fondly so you clearly haven’t turned her off with your inexperience or bashfulness.
She grins at you before leaning in to kiss you again. “Perfect. If I say or do anything you don’t like, tell me immediately. I won’t be offended, okay? I’ll do the same.” You nod in agreement, blush calming down as she settles her body over yours, a comforting, reassuring weight in an unfamiliar scenario.
She quickly gets the lube and condoms out and once she’s ready, Emily trails latex covered fingers down your waist, tickling slightly and revelling in the shiver she elicits, before slipping beneath the waistband and pressing gently, teasingly against your clit. She presses another kiss to your lips, deepening it against your moans as she moves down to push a finger inside.
“Emily,” you cry, panting as the initial pressure against your walls makes you see stars, warm wetness helping to ease her fingers inside. She slowly works you open as she alternates between kissing you, sucking on your neck and whispering dirty, encouraging platitudes in your ear.
“Do you think you’re ready to take my cock, princess?” she asks, tone dripping and sultry as she whispers directly into your ear, licking a stripe over the shell as you moan loudly. She holds the condom-covered dildo directly in your line of sight as she presses her own heat against your thigh, rutting slightly to ease her own immediate arousal.
“Yes, Emily, please” you beg, pushing your thigh up so she can use it properly, getting an appreciative moan in response.
“Good girl,” she praises, kissing you again as she lines up the dildo, easing it into you gently, pausing when your aroused moans betray a hint of pain. “God, you took that so well. You are a dirty little slut for me, aren’t you? Built to take my cock.”
“Yeah,” you whine, writhing as you feel the fullness of the dildo inside you, moaning again as Emily starts to fuck in and out. She starts out slowly before speeding it up, fucking you hard with your own dildo as she murmurs absolute filth into your ear. “Stop, stop.”
She stills her hand immediately, but you quickly ease her mind. “I’m close, don’t want to come yet.”
At that, she beams down at you. “Good girl. I think it’s my turn to get off, don’t you?”
Technically, she’s been grinding down on your leg the whole time she’s been fucking you, but you get what she means and reach for the finger vibrator, dildo still wedged firmly inside you, while she rolls onto her back. You fit the vibe onto your first finger and turn it on, thankful you recently changed the battery recently as you slide on a latex covering over your finger. She smiles encouragingly as you maneuver her hips to the right angle before teasing her a little with your middle finger to ease her into it before pressing the vibe to her folds first, thoroughly enjoying the jerk her hips make at the pleasure, before working your way up to her clit.
She throws her head back and moans wantonly as you work her over, running your other hand up her side before making your way to her breasts, leaning down to suck and bite gently at them as she cups her hand against the back of your neck, keeping your mouth where she wants.
“Keep going,” she moans as she approaches her orgasm, rutting against your finger as you swallow her nipple into your mouth with renewed vigour, desperate to bring her off. She shouts your name as she cums, squirming around your finger as her hips writhe with pleasure, eyes screwed close. It’s a beautiful sight, seeing a woman cum, and it’s so much better than whatever you’ve seen in porn, because you did this. Emily’s orgasm is your work of art and you couldn’t be prouder to sign your name against it.
“Good girl,” she sighs as she comes down. “You did so well. Now, shall we finish you off, baby?”
You’re virtually there already, seeing Emily’s pleasure had been getting you closer and closer to your own orgasm. It only takes Emily rolling you onto your back, kissing you again and fucking you a few more times with the dildo that’s stayed inside you the whole time while fingering your clit just teasingly enough to get you over the edge, powerful orgasm crashing over you as Emily whispers praise against your ear. It takes you out for a minute, lost in the haze of pleasure and its aftermath, feeling so right in that moment that you never want to leave it, wrapped up in Emily’s arms while you hang in the inbetween of a dreamy daze and reality.
Eventually, you blink your eyes open, meeting Emily’s glassy ones and smile up at her, working the energy up to roll her over and kiss her again in earnest, knowing exactly what she likes by now.
“What was that for?” she asks after you break apart, chuckling a little at your eagerness.
“A thank you,” you murmur, smiling fondly down at her.
“The best thank you you could give me is a dinner date later this week,” Emily grins. “And I’ll thank you afterwards with another mind-blowing orgasm, how does that sound?”
You stare down at her for a moment, wondering how on earth you managed to win somebody so perfect, before shaking out of it and smiling softly again. “That sounds perfect.”

MASTERLIST
Disclaimer: I don’t own anything from the Potterverse!
___________________
He couldn’t meet your eyes. James Potter had been avoiding you and you were devastated. You were proud of yourself at how well you hid your inner turmoil since no one said anything, until Remus and you were sitting alone outside in the lawn that is.
You sat beneath a tree, shielding yourself from the afternoon sun. The others were busy in a competition on who could throw the gnomes the farthest. Though however tempting it was to join in, you settled for relaxing since you didn’t want to soil James’ good mood. Remus, wanting to get some reading done, opted to join you.
“I’m going home tomorrow.” You told him.
Remus looked at you in surprise, as if you just dropped a bomb. “What?” He closed his book and set it aside, “Why? We’re supposed to spend two weeks here. We have a week left.”
You pulled your legs up to your chest and hugged yourself, “I just... I think I’ve overstayed my welcome.” You shrugged; you tried to act nonchalant about it but you knew he could very well see your anxiety behind your orbs.
Remus furrowed his brows, “Why would you ever think that? Y/N, everyone wants you to be here.”
You shook your head, “I don’t think James does.” You mumbled, you didn’t want to but tears still prickled at the edges of your orbs. Remus heard you all the same. “He knows, Rem. He knows and now he can’t even look at me.” Going home to the family who all but ignored you was better than being rejected by the person who used to welcome you with open arms. “It’s been two days and he all but flees whenever I enter the same room as him. He can’t stand it, and I won’t force him to.”
“I’ll go talk to him.” Remus was about to stand up but you grabbed his arm and held him down.
“It’s okay.” You told him, giving off a sad smile. Remus looked conflicted but settled down nonetheless. He held your hand fondly and gave it a squeeze in reassurance, which you were grateful for. He let out a deep sigh and opened his book again.
-
You set down your quill as you folded the piece of parchment and packed it inside an envelope. You sealed it with melted wax and a stamp and handed it to the white barn-owl that perched itself on your windowsill. It was a reply to the Dumbledore’s letter to you; you had written to him immediately after returning to the Potter’s residence two days ago, your hands clammy with nerves, and your ears ringing from everything. You opened his reply once again.
Dear Miss Y/L/N,
It is a surprise to hear of your connection to the recent incident, and I must commend how you and the others fought off the Death Eaters and helped the Aurors, though extremely reckless it was. I believe Voldemort already knows of your identity and would be ever pursuant of his current interest in you. He will try to get you to join him again, and you must stay vigilant. He will not do anything as long as you remain a student of Hogwarts, but I believe it best to relocate your family soon, in case he catches winds about your residence. If you decide to do so, I will, of course, send help.
Take care,
Albus Dumbledore
You rubbed your forehead as you read the letter again, chastising yourself for being so stupid. Dumbledore was right, Voldemort had enough connections to easily know who you were, and you not only put yourself in danger, but now so is your family. They had to move, and you had to leave them to keep them safe. He won’t be able to do anything as long as you still went to Hogwarts, the notion was comforting yet ominous, because what would happen the moment you graduated?
The ministry was abuzz since ten muggles were murdered that night, and more people severely injured. The Muggle Prime Minister struggled to make believable alibis and he couldn’t give out an adequate one was it not for the help of the Minister of Magic. You tapped your fingers on the mahogany desk. You wondered if Severus was able to escape unscathed, but you shook your head at the thought; of course, he would go unscathed, he knew about the attack beforehand after all. You bit your lower lip; he had tried to protect you- you know that now. You may still be able to sway him away from the dark path he seemed all too eager to walk on.
You packed what little you had and zipped your bag close. Now all that was left was to tell the others during dinner. You decided that saying that your mum wanted you home immediately because she heard what had happened at the concert and was concerned for your safety was a good enough excuse.
A knock came from your door and before you could even walk towards it, it creaked open and James came in. He glanced at your packed bag on the bed and turned to look at you, his eyes wide in shock. He took two long strides towards you and pulled you into a hug. “I’m sorry.” His voice shook as he buried his face on the crook of your neck. His breath tickled but you were utterly confused to be focused on that right now.
“I’m sorry.” He repeated. “I’ve been so stupid, and you didn’t deserve the way I avoided you. I don’t want you to leave, if I had my way, I’d want you to never leave.” He pulled away but still held you by the shoulders. His hazel eyes searched yours for something you didn’t know. “You see- what I’m trying to say is... is that I don’t care if you’re a Legilimens. I don’t care if you know every little thing about me, if you can read my mind this very instant, I don’t care. I will never turn my back on you again, never. I hold you too dearly.” You just noticed how his hands were shaking, you took them from your shoulders and held them.
“James, I-” You were about to say but someone cleared their throat by the doorway which made you all but drop his hands and your gaze immediately.
“Uh- s-sorry to bother, b-but your mum wants to know what you want to have for di-dinner, Prongs.” Peter stammered. Sirius snickered from behind him while Remus tried to hold in his laughter as well.
You flushed a deep shade of red as you turned away from them, hands on your warming cheeks. “Out! All of you!” James had snapped, and the boys went running away in snickers. You turned back to him and found him pretty much in the same state as you were in, flushed cheeks and all that.
He cleared his throat, “So um, please don’t go home... yet...” He added the last word like an afterthought, as if realizing that, yes, you still have a family who might be wondering where you were if you wouldn’t return. You nodded and he grinned at you. “I’ll, um... see you at dinner then?”
“Uh-huh.” You sheepishly replied and he bit his lower lip then turned to go out, leaving the door open.
-
“So Y/N, will you tell me what every girl at Hogwarts thinks about me next time?” Sirius grinned as all of you laid on top of the roof, watching the stars. It was a clear night, perfect for star gazing, and you took the opportunity to do so.
You let out a dry laugh, “Of course not, Siri. What fun would that be for your conquests?” Sirius and Peter had learned of your ‘gift’ when they were busy eavesdropping earlier, and like Remus had done so long ago, the rest of the Marauders had sworn themselves to secrecy regarding your ability.
Sirius chuckled, twirling his wand between his fingers, “Point taken.”
You stared at the twinkling stars that shone millions of miles away and listened to the voices of your friends. You wished time would stop in this moment. You wished all of you would stay like this forever... young and free; unbothered by the looming war that plagued your lives.
You sat up as reality started sinking in. The screams of people dying too haunting to be forgotten, and the pale face of the Auror who only tried to protect you. You never even knew his name. You felt a warm jacket wrap around you, and you turned to see James beside you, a soft smile on his face.
“Thank you.” You murmured. The others continued on their conversation while James adjusted the glasses on the bridge of his nose.
“I remember it too.” He told you as he ruffled his hair. You cast him a questioning gaze, prompting him to elaborate; “The concert, I mean. Sometimes I still hear the screams and see the flashes of green when I close my eyes.”
You held his hand and gave it a small squeeze which made him smile. “I reckon the five of us will carry this memory for the rest of our lives.” You pointed out sadly.
He nodded, “True. But I feel a little better knowing that you guys will be with me through it.” He told you and you could feel your heart move by the sincerity of his words that tears prickled at the corner of your eyes.
You wouldn’t be dealing with all these emotions alone, not anymore, and that very notion comforted you greatly. You scooted closer to James and leaned your head on his shoulder, and he instantly wrapped an arm around you. You sighed in content, because at this very moment, all was well. “That reminds me,” You started, “You never told me why you were avoiding me so adamantly.” You turned to look up at him, backtracking when he was already looking at you, your faces inches away from each other. You recoiled and he dropped his hand from your shoulder, a deep red penetrating his features.
He cleared his throat, “I’ll tell you someday. Promise you won’t search for the answer yourself?” Tapping his head with his index finger.
You laughed, “I’ll try.”
The rest of the summer had passed by rather uneventfully as you returned home a couple days later. You had set up some enchantments on your home the moment you arrived with the help of Professor Flitwick, who arrived a few moments after you. He thought you the charms and reinforced them for better durability.
Your mother had invited him for tea, but he politely refused, saying that he must visit other households and left in a hurry. Your family, except your youngest sister, looked at him rather curiously and you were glad they didn’t voice out their apparent discomfort. They had also watched you and your professor in awe from the living room window as you casted the spells.
Now you sat on a chair by the dinner table as your mother rubbed her temples and your step-father tried to take in everything you just said; you had explained to them why there was a need to enchant your home.
“So... you’re saying that... that a lunatic is out there causing havoc?” You step-father asked hesitantly.
“Well he’s not just any lunatic, he’s public enemy number one in our world.” You pointed out. “And he’s not just causing any havoc, he’s killing people. Muggles, non-wizard people.” You elaborated once more, “You guys are the very kind of people he’ll be after, and I’m only telling you all these because I want you guys to be safe.” The tea had long gone cold and a tense silence hung in the air. Your two siblings were sent to bed early for you guys to have this conversation, but you weren’t surprised to hear your stepsister eavesdropping at the top of the stairs.
"Y/N, are you sure we’re safe here?” Your mother questioned, gathering her thoughts together. She, at least, understood the gravity of the situation. You knew she liked to read the Daily Prophet when you were done with it, and you were aware she didn’t skip the latest news about the Dark Wizard.
You frowned, letting out a deep sigh, “He wants me to join his cause.” You admitted, and the color of your mother’s face drained. You took her outstretched hand and gave it a squeeze, a gesture that brought tears to her eyes, it had been years since you initiated any sort of physical contact with her. “I won’t join him; I assure you that.” You swore. “Dumbledore is certain he won’t come looking for me until I graduate. By then I’ll be out of this house and the lot of you will be moving somewhere far from here.”
Realization dawned on their faces, “You’re leaving? Why? Wouldn’t it be safer if you went with us?”
You shook your head, choosing not to answer.
I have gathered a group of people who are willing to oppose the Dark Lord himself and thwart his plans, Miss Y/L/N, and I am formally extending an invitation for you to be part of that said group. It will be dangerous and it will require courage, you will not only be part of the heart of the war, your life will be on the line and your skills will no doubt be put to the test time and time again. But this will all be for the greater good, so I prompt you to at least consider it.
“Y/N?”
Your thoughts broken, you looked at the both of them who shared a look of concern at your lack of reply. “It’ll be better this way. This will all be for the greater good.”
You left the dinner table at that, and sought solace in your bedroom, glad that your step-sister had retreated to her own room just as you finished your conversation. You locked your door and got your potions textbook and cauldron out of your trunk. You searched the table of contents and smirked bitterly as you found the page you were looking for:
Chapter 16: Memory Potion . . . . . . . . . . . . 394
-
“Y/N!” Lily yelled as she run to you and wrapped her arms around you, “I missed you!” The two of you reunited at King’s Cross Station, the Hogwarts Express right in front of you, smoke bellowing, getting ready for the journey to Hogwarts. Chatter rang out the entire station as friends reunited after without seeing each other for the entire summer.
You chortled and returned the hug, “It’s so good to see you again Lily.”
“What, no hug for me?”
The two of you broke the hug to look at the messy-haired boy smirk at the both of you. Lily rolled her emerald orbs heavenward, “Sod off, Potter.”
James chuckled at her, “Feisty as ever I see.” He then turned to you and smiled, “Y/N.”
You nodded at him, “James.” It has been three weeks since you last saw him and it feels like it’s been forever.
Lily eyed the both of you, her eyes wide as if formulating something. She instantly grabbed you and pulled you away as Sirius called out to the three of you, much to the confusion of the boys. “Did something happen between the both of you?” She interrogated.
You furrowed your brows, “What?”
She giggled excitedly, “You and James I mean!” She whispered-yelled. “Is there something going on that I should know about?!”
“Um, I don’t think so?” You denied, because really, there wasn’t, wasn’t there?
She pulled you further away, “I saw the way you two looked at each other! If there’s something going on between the both of you, I’m all in for it!”
“Lily didn’t you call him an arrogant toerag before?” You raised a brow at her.
“Oh please, that was before we all got to become friends!” She turned to look at the boys, Remus and Peter had already arrived and the four of them were talking animatedly with each other as if they haven’t seen each other for years. “I’m just saying, I think the both of you make a fine pair now that I see you guys again. It’s like a spell had been cast during summer break that changed everyone’s demeanor.”
Ah that was right, Lily didn’t know what happened yet. You had avoided writing to her about what happened since you didn’t want to worry her, and also you didn’t want to relive the memories. Your expression may have changed since Lily went from excited to concerned in an instant, “What is it? What’s wrong?” She questioned.
“I need to tell you something...” You trailed off but before you could go into your story-telling, the train chimed out. It was time to go.
The boys headed your way, “Ladies,” James uttered and grabbed your trunk from your hands. You tried to get it back from him but it was futile, which only made Lily cast you another knowing smirk. You frowned at her in reply.
“We have to go to the Prefects compartment.” Lily informed you as she and Remus stopped midway.
“Oh, right. Sure.” You nodded, “I’ll talk to you later then?”
The redhead smiled at you, “Of course.” They then walked off towards the other end of the train while you, Peter, Sirius, and James easily found an empty compartment and went inside. You stood by the doorway while the boys placed the trunks up, and entered when they were done.
James took his seat beside you while Sirius and Peter sat on the opposite side. The train took off a few minutes later, and you leaned your head on the window glass, looking at the vast terrain. The boys chatted on, paying no heed to your lack of input to their conversation.
The cart lady soon did her rounds around the train, and James and Peter got up to buy some sweets. Sirius nudged you with his foot and you shot him a look, “What?”
He chuckled, “Nothing. It’s just- you're real quiet today. Is everything all right?”
“Of course. I... I just have a lot on my mind right now.” You confessed.
Sirius gave you a sad smile. “Well, don’t get consumed by those thoughts. We’re here for you aright?” He pulled the sleeves of his sweater.
“Sirius?”
“Hm?”
You folded your hands together in your laps, glancing outside where the others were still busy picking the sweets they want. “We both know you’re more troubled than I am. Do you want to talk about it?”
Sirius stopped pulling his sleeves instantly, “I almost forgot you’re a Legilimens.” He chortled lowly, but it held no actual mirth. “I was disowned, kicked out of the house- with all that burning of my picture in the family tree.” He shook his head as if he found it absolutely ridiculous, “I think Bella told them about our little encounter during the concert incident and that flipped them how I could stand against the Dark Lord himself and their cause. So now I live with James apparently. It’s fine though, if anything, I’m glad to be rid of all that pureblood supremacy nonsense.”
You frowned deeply; his pureblood fanatic family was not foreign to you. You knew, since before, that Sirius suffered immensely in his household, and it made your family life all the much better. “You’re worried about your brother?” You surmised.
He nodded slowly, “They’re poisoning his mind, they are. He’s my little brother and I couldn’t even protect him. I can’t stop him from walking down that path...”
Your heart ached from the familiarity, you leaned back on your seat, “Well... all we can do is not give up now.” You told him, and he understood. He understood that the both of you were in a similar boat, and that made him smile genuinely and nod. You were thankful about the fact that he didn’t even comment about how he knew you were talking about Severus. You knew they weren’t on the best terms but you were worried he might convince you to forget about that snake. That he wasn’t worth it.
James and Peter came back with their hands full with sweet treats and they set it down on the cushions. “Take anything you want.” James told you and you looked through the candies and chocolates. You took a cauldron cake, thanking him.
Halfway before arriving to Hogwarts, you all started to change into your robes. You had to leave the compartment to change at the comfort room all the way down the train hallway while the boys had no trouble pulling their sweaters over their heads.
“Wouldn’t mind if you changed here, Y/N.” Sirius wiggled his brows at you but yelped when James threw his robes at him.
“Hi, Y/N.” A girl with ginger hair and warm brown eyes greeted you as you waited in line for your turn to change in the bathroom. “I’m Marlene McKinnon; we share the same dorm?” She introduced herself when you just stared at her.
You shook your head, “Oh sorry, I know who you are, I’m just a little surprised is all. We’ve never really talked before.” She was nervous, she didn’t think she would ever get to talk to you as well.
She chuckled lightly, “We haven’t, haven’t we? I’m sorry about that; but I hope to rectify that, Lily’s friend is our friend of course.” She gestured to the person inside the room who just came out.
“Oh, hi Y/N.” Mary Macdonald greeted, already in her robes, a kind smile on her face.
“You can change first Y/N.” Marlene told you; you thanked her, not wanting to make it awkward.
You closed the door behind you and discarded your sweater. You could faintly hear Marlene and Mary chatting in the other side of the door, it was a good thing they weren’t talking about you. Was it going to be like this from now on? You wondered. Were your housemates going to make pleasant conversation with you just because you were friends with Lily and the Marauders? Somehow the thought of not being ostracized by your own house anymore wasn’t so bad.
You came out after changing and Marlene went in afterwards. You smiled at Mary, in which she returned the gesture and you made your way back to your compartment. You passed by a group of snickering students, and when you turned to glance, you frowned deeply as you took note of their green robes. It was Mulciber and his little gang; their compartment door was slightly open and they passed around the daily prophet. You squinted in disgust and continued on, missing the way Severus looked as you walked away from inside the compartment.
You dragged the door open and found your three friends tossing Fizzing Whizbees at each other and catching it with their mouths. “Does anyone have a copy of today’s Daily Prophet?” You questioned, interrupting their game as you took your seat beside James.
“I might have one.” Peter replied, swallowing the candy, and got up the seats to reach for his trunk.
“Did something happen?” James looked at you in question.
“I don’t know yet.” You answered. Peter fished out the newspaper from his trunk and threw it to you, which you expertly caught. You immediately skimmed through the headlines while the blonde boy closed his trunk and flopped down on his seat.
Sirius and James huddled closer towards you to check the newspaper, and you arrived at the latest news about the Dark Lord. It said that there were three more attacks, all in different locations throughout the country. Your face paled at the list of casualties, the war wasn’t just starting, it was at its height already, you realized.
The atmosphere in the compartment turned grim. Sirius took the newspaper from your hands and crumpled it up and threw it outside the window. “It’s nothing new. People die every day.” He shrugged then took a packet of Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans and ripped it open. “Here, Peter, I dare you to eat this.” He handed the boy an earth-colored bean.
You sighed, all of you coped in a different way, you concluded. Though not particularly healthy, denial was one way to go about it. But you weren’t one to talk since the way you stressed about it all the time couldn’t be considered healthy as well.
You felt eyes on you and you turned to see James looking at you. You cocked your head to your side in question and there was a waver in his gaze. He felt hurt; he wanted to know what you were thinking about and it pained him to see you build walls around yourself once more. You turned away from him, guilt creeping onto your conscience.

Notes: This is a deleted excerpt because I honestly felt that the story was getting too long ><;; To be honest I planned for Blood bound to be at around 15k words but I enjoyed writing it so much that it went to 20k to 35 to 40k to nearly 50k before I knew it. I scrapped a lot of scenes cos it wouldn't end otherwise ehe.
Happy reading!
BTW! This comes after the Kyoto Tokyo Goodwill event.
Chapter 12.5: Sky High
There was one very important thing you had to do.
You went up and stood at the very edge of the highest building. You can see the other students down at the ground.
This was something you've been putting off. You have to conquer your fear of heights. For goodness sake you're an esper, it should be natural to fly high in the sky yet you limit yourself to a few inches off the ground.
“Oi! Angel!” You quickly turned around to see Noritoshi looking panicked. “Get away from the edge, why do you look like you’re considering falling to your death?”
You tilted your head amusedly at him.
"Angel, talk to me. Are you not feeling well? I can help." He had one hand cautiously outstretched to you.
You still found it funny how he now takes to calling you his angel when it’s just the two of you after you told him about his embarrassing moment when he was loopy on sedatives.
"Noritoshi, it's okay. I’m just learning how to fly. This is how birds learn to fly, no? You know my power anyways. I'll be okay. Trust me." He didn’t look convinced, looking at you with fear in his eyes.
But before he could say another word you turned around and stepped off the building.
Gravity pulled at you, making you shoot downwards incredibly fast, you were used to hovering for a bit above ground, but this was new. Something you’ve never tried before.
It wasn't like you couldn't do it. Just your fear was pushing you back from doing so much with your gifts. You're blessed to have a family who understands your anxiety, but it's time you've gotten over your fears.
You realized the ground was coming up at you quickly. ‘Pull up pull up pull up or you’ll fucking die-’
“Twister.” You enveloped yourself with your tornado and shot forward into the trees. ‘Up’. You were now shooting up high into the sky.
Great, so you can fly. With your eyes sealed shut like you put glue on it.
You opened your eyes to see how high you were and it was wayy up there. Your breathing quickened.
You gasped out. How do you stop?! How does Satoru do that? Your thoughts are jumping miles per millisecond. He can levitate.
It’s do or die, you’re literally hundreds of feet up in the air. ‘Halt’.
You applied your cursed technique onto your body. It was like when you create your warping space barrier around you to stop attacks from hitting you. But now, you imagined yourself floating inside a bubble.
You froze midair. Standing high above the edge of the school border. You thanked Tengen sama’s barrier techniques to keep you out of sight from ordinary mortals. It would be so weird to see a floating person.
You gently took a step forward, focusing with all your might on your technique to let you float. One step. Two steps.
You huffed out a laugh and sat down in midair. The view was stunning. With your cursed energy enveloping you, you felt your fear slowly dissipate. ‘Ah right, Noritoshi,’ you turned around and he was still there on the rooftop. Still staring at you.
With a burst of confidence you leapt and flew over to him, a whirlwind forming upon your landing. “Noritoshiii~~~~~ Didya see me? I did it!” you poked at his forehead. He looked stunned and his face was a deep red. As soon as you came up close he quickly closed his eyes and looked upwards. Why?
“Angel… your skirt…. when you flew up…. it….”
AW SHIT! You screamed into your hands and the birds nearby flew away from you at the sound. He pulled you to him and covered your body with his wide sleeves as though it would change the situation. All while still blushing badly and looking away from you. “Next time… use pants …. when you fly…”
“Huhuhuuuuu I’m sorryyyyyy” You cried out embarrassedly as Noritoshi absentmindedly patted you on the head. He felt like he was going to have a nosebleed from the sight he just saw.
◇◇◇
That is now your most embarrassing moment on campus. The few people who saw you fly included Mechamaru, Mai and Todo and they didn’t hesitate to gossip about it. You hated the way they teased you about it.
“It’s okay Y/n chan. I always wear shorts underneath my dress when I fly. You should start doing the same.” Momo hugged you.
She was adorable. “Thank you Momo senpai, you’re the only nice one. Everyone else has been teasing me about it.” you fake sobbed.
Your only consolation was how everyone teased Noritoshi about enjoying the view. He would always furiously blush, look away and leave the room or forcibly change the topic of conversation.
He was cute to the point it was so endearing. But he wouldn’t ever tell you or anyone how he enjoyed that moment, hating himself for feeling like a total perv.
Author's notes: what kind of underwear were you wearing? Regular white? Black lace? Blue with frills? Cream coloured silk? See-through? A thong? It's all up to your interpretation🤣

Valentine’s Doom
Summary: A very oblivious young boy has caught the loving eyes of Remus Lupin, but how can one express his feelings if every time (Y/N) opens his mouth, Remus melts like a box of chocolates in the sun.
Pairing: Remus Lupin x Male Reader
Key: (Y/N)- your name, (H/C)- hair colour, (N/N)- nickname
Words: 2587
A/N: I spent way to long on this, almost a week ;-;. I hope you enjoy it!
“Remussss, please. Pretty please with a cherry on top. I promise I’ll make it up to you” (Y/N) pleaded Remus to let him copy his homework. He had completely forgotten to do his own which was mostly Sirius’s fault, keeping him up all night.
“You do realise you have to do your homework in order to graduate, right? It’s a basic skill to have.” He cocked his eyebrow, looking up at the pleading boy in front of him.
“I know, I know, Blah blah, if you don’t learn you’ll never survive in the “real” world. I know the spiel.” He rambled on, motioning a small Remus puppet with his hand mocking the tone of his friend’s warnings.
He had spent the whole night playing tag with Sirius and racing around the courtyard like the drunk children they were. Remus knew this of course, waking up every so often to look down at them being idiots from the tower.
“And yet you still go on late night joy rides with Sirius” He sighed and closed the book he was reading as he watched his friends stuff their faces with toast and eggs.
“Please, Moony.” He begged once more, pulling the sweet and innocent face he knew Remus couldn’t say no to, even adding a slight quivering lip for dramatic affect.
The shorter boy pressed his fingers against his temples trying his best to distract himself from the sweet face of his friend, but gave in.
“Fine, last time I swear to Merlin.” He repeated the same line he always said when (Y/N) or any of his friends asked. He always managed to give in too soon to the pleads.
“Thank you!” (L/N) chirped up giving Remus the warmest smile he could, taking the few pages Remus handed him then took his seat again.
“Y-You’re welcome.” He stuttered out, blushing a bit. James wiggling his eyebrows at Remus, receiving a death glare in return.
“Padfoot, get your ass here! We have t-minus 20 minutes to copy it all” He pulled Sirius’s arm to climb over the table and sit next to him. Both of them pulled out paper to start.
“Wait you didn’t-“ The flustered boy said, not being able to finish his retort before he was interrupted again.
“Thank you again, Moony. We appreciate this so much” Remus could barely get any words out after that, only being about to nod his head in response. (Y/N) did look like he appreciated his friend’s effort to help him stay in school.
James gave him a knowing smile before continuing to devour his breakfast plate while Remus just sighed looking at the two boys copying his homework.
“You lads are gonna be the death of me.” He finally said, opening up his book again and continuing to eat his own meal.
Remus always thought he fanced boys a lot more than girls, but he knew for sure when he set his eyes on (Y/N) for the first time. They were never that close, not that he had tried to get closer. The taller boy just seemed to take a liking to Sirius more than anyone else in the group, always fooling around and getting into trouble more so than himself and James.
He spent many nights awake with James, while the other two snuck out, talking about (Y/N) and how much he liked everything about him.
The day passed by quickly as they always did, pranks and studying. Waiting for the next moon adventure.
Remus sat in the dull light of the common room that evening, relaxing to the sound of the fireplace when (Y/N) burst through the door as chaotic as ever. Collapsing on the sofa next to him.
“Hi, Moony” He smiled nonchalantly, taking a peak at the book he was reading. Remus partly ignored him, giving him an acknowledging hum.
“Oh, I see you’re reading one of my books. Do you like it?” He said while bending over to read the cover. (Y/N) as dumb as he could be, enjoyed reading just as much as Remus did. A lot of the time they spent together was in the library or reading together.
“I do, rather exciting. Didn’t expect to enjoy it this much, but thank you for borrowing it to me” Remus smiled, making (Y/N) blush a little.
“I’m glad!” He said, thumping back onto the sofa. Now trying to keep up with the pace his friend was reading at. He yawned softly, he was quite exhausted from a long day of school. He was about ready to take a nap.
Laying his head lightly on his friend’s shoulder, he asked Remus to read aloud so he could rest his eyes.
As much as (Y/N) was a pain in his ass, he was a joy to be around. A light in his life unlike the light of his other friends. The heat on his face didn’t help either.
“Is the spring coming?" he said. "What is it like?" "It is the sun shining on the rain and the rain falling on the sunshine...” He spoke in a hush tone, narrating the book for (Y/N).
“I love this part, it’s so nice” (Y/N) smiled, getting comfortable for this afternoon nap. Remus stopped for a moment looking at his soft (H/C) hair and sleep ready face.
“Why did you stop? Was it me? I’ll shut up now” He said half asleep, waiting for his friend to continue the story again and that’s how they both fell asleep that late afternoon.
His book laying over his chest, his hands wrapped around the smaller boy like two cats huddled under a sun beam.
The next week was stressful with Valentine’s Day approaching and love in the air, it was all James could speak out.
“Oh Lily, a name so sweet just like the flower. A scent so alluring, oh Lily, my love, oh how can live without you. Life is , but a muggle roller coaster going up with you” He sighed, hugging the small envelope in his arms. Sirius gagged and pretended to throw up while Remus and (Y/N) laughed at his attempt at poetry.
“This is the year, boys. This is the year Lily Evans will be mine” He looked up at the great hall’s morning sky, his eyes twinkling with the love in his heart.
The other Marauders were painfully single, as was James, but the way he talked about Lily you’d think they’re already married. Lily however looked as though she would vomit at any given time James looked at her.
Tomorrow the whole hall would be filled with hearts and love potions. He was sure someone would slip one of them a potion, it happened every year, last year they had to nurse Peter to health ‘cause someone thought it would be funny if Peter fell in love McGonagall.
“Merlin, Prongs. One more word about Lily and I might curse myself” Sirius sighed and hid his own small envelope under his robe.
“How can I?” James sighed once, looking over the Lily who was sitting with her own friends pretending he didn’t exist. He rested his hand on his arm, sighing loudly and dramatically.
The day passed once again leading the five back into their common room, all tired of classes. The conversation immediately leaped to what would happen the next day.
“I bet Lily will finally accept that we are soulmates separated by a tragic past life” James said proudly once again pulling out the small heart littered envelope he had been carrying all day.
“I bet it’ll be another Valentine’s Day alone for you, dear Prongs” Sirius said in a soft and sweet voice, not mirrored with the evil little smirt of his face.
“Fine. Let’s make a bet then. All five of us, come on” James challenged the boys in the room who looked angrily at Sirius who always started these silly bets.
“Okay, Moony? Wormtail? (N/N)? You in?” Sirius chirped
“No way, last time I had to change my hair green and silver.” Remus said shaking his head profusely, Sirius looked at him and (Y/N) with his puppy dog eyes. Almost considering changing himself into a dog to guilt trip them.
“No need to convince me twice, I’m always in for a bet”
“I’m always in too” Peter chimed in, though no one was surprised as he just did whatever James asked anyway. “Fine, I’m in. What’s the bet?” Remus finally gave in after the whole group joined in, he felt as though he was gonna regret this.
“All us dashing young men need to find a date tomorrow. Anyone who’s rejected has to spend the night on the Quidditch pitch, no blankets, no clothing. Only underwear”
“Deal.” Sirius said quickly, shaking James’ hand.
“How do we always get dragged into this?” Remus sighed and let his head fall back onto the sofa, his arms over his face.
The next day was grueling work, everyone already had a date. James hadn’t asked Lily anything yet, his anxiety suddenly overcoming him, Sirius had been slapped in the face about 5 times, (Y/N) remembered he didn’t know anyone else, Peter had actually acquired a date out of some miracle and Remus was nowhere to be seen.
“Anyone see, Moony yet?” Sirius sighed, a small ice pack on his face. All the men looked completely defeated except Peter who had practically skipped over to them with the news he had gotten a date.
“Nope” (Y/N) quickly looked around the great hall as they sat for lunch, he was a little worried about him. Maybe he was brooding somewhere alone. Maybe was crying that he couldn’t find a date, maybe he was-
“I’m gonna go look for him” He stood up quickly, speed walking towards the closest boys bathroom, then the next and the next. He couldn't see him in any of the bathrooms. He was a little more worried now, well a lot more worried.
A little tired and defeated with the next bell ringing, he got to the next class first and to his surprise and relief Remus was there.
“Idiot. You scared us, we barely saw you today, what the fuck?” He came up behind him and flicked his forehead scolding him. He apologised and said he had to fetch a special package from the owlery alone. (Y/N) didn’t ask anything, just glad to see nothing bad happened.
“Any luck on a date?” He said, still waiting for the other classmates to arrive.
“Not yet, might look at real estate on the pitch” He chuckled, his eyes crinkling in his wide smile, flushing (Y/N)’s cheeks a bit.
They chatted for a short while before the last three troublemakers burst through the potion room door. Peter still has a bright smile on his face.
“Why so cheery, Wormtail?”
“He’s the only one of us with a date” James sighed loudly, still clutching his letter for Lily. He looked a lot less confident than yesterday, Peter deflating his ego even more.
The day passed and soon they were sulking on the sofa together, all now very painfully single besides Peter who was happily owling the Hufflepuff girl he had asked out. James finally had the courage to give the letter to Lily who just gave him a small smile before immediately b-lining out of potions. He was crushed, a broken shell of a man, at least that’s how he described it. Sirius had received about ten more slaps across the face. The other two had just accepted they would be huddling for warm on the pitch or so they thought.
“Here guys, we deserve it” Remus stood up suddenly grabbing the mysterious bag he was hiding under the couch.
He handed each one of the boys a small box of handmade chocolate, Remus’ specialty. They all lighted up suddenly at the prospect of chocolate except for (Y/N). Who got discreetly given a slightly bigger box and when he opened it, they were all heart shaped unlike the other threes’.
“Thanks so much, Moony! What would we do without you” (Y/N) smiled brightly, causing Remus to stiffen up a little.
The other two very quickly realised their chocolates were different than the (H/C) boy’s were. They know what was up, but (Y/N) was not in the loop.
“I’ll be back.” Remus quickly said, doing a 180 turn towards the porthole, leaving the others.
“I hope Moony’s okay. Maybe he got rejected.” He frowned looking at the closing door. He wanted to check up on him, but maybe he just wanted to be alone.
The other two in the room looked at each other, at their chocolates and back at (Y/N). They both decided it was about fucking time, if Remus wasn’t gonna do it. They would.
“You really are dense, (Y/N). He likes you, isn’t it obvious?” James said not looking up from his homework as he sat on the desk in the common room. Sirius shrugged in agreement and (Y/N) looked a little shocked.
He looked down at the box of heart shaped chocolates in front of him, everything finally clicking in his mind as he face palmed his brain.
“Oh my god. Wait really?” He questioned again, the thought had never crossed his mind that Remus would feel the same way he did. He never thought Remus was gay like he was though now that he thought about it, it was kind of obvious.
“You really didn’t know?” Sirius said while struggling to unwrap the ribbon off his own valentine chocolates. (Y/N) really felt dumb as a rock.
“Fuck.” He cussed under his breath, quickly exiting the room to find Remus.
He saw a flash of light hair belonging to the boy on his mind, he raced toward him in a fast walk. Quickly catching up and grabbing his shoulder.
“Moony! Wait! I’m sorry, I didn’t know these were those kinds of chocolates” (Y/N) said a little out of breath still clutching the box in his hands, looking at them briefly before turning to the taller boy.
“It’s fine, (N/N). I don’t think you would’ve accepted them anyway.” Remus sighed softly, what looked like a few tears running down his face which (Y/N) immediately wiped off with his finger gently.
He smiled widely at the crying boy next to him, then gave him a huge hug.
“Yes I would have! I would’ve loved getting chocolates like that.” He said brightly, gripping onto the taller boy’s neck tighter. Not wanting to let go.
“You would?” Remus sniffed quietly, barely speaking over a whisper. He breathed into the (Y/N)’s necks, smelling the sweet smell of his coconut shampoo and cologne.
“Of course! I’m sorry I’m a little oblivious sometimes. I do like you, though… a lot.” He said sheepishly, blushing into the crook of Remus’ neck.
“You do?” He questioned again, his crying stopped and he felt very warm and fuzzy. The butterflies in his stomach beating him up.
“YES! Now come eat these with me. We won the bet.” He let go of Remus and grabbed his hand, pulling him back to the common room again.
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me” Sirius said as he saw his two friends hand in hand.
“Looks like we’re sleeping outside” James sighed, looking at the pitch from outside the window...
“So cold.”

- Eleanor -
I sit at the empty desk across from my bed. There is nothing in front of me, but I stare at my neat piles of notebooks and novels: some that Daddyo had recommended to me, others that I had borrowed from his library.
My bedroom door is open. From the hall, I hear the tapping of Roger’s paws and the light thuds of Fabian’s footsteps. The noise of their arrival lightly raises me from my seat and my tired thoughts. I walk out of my room and go after them.
Roger runs away from Fabian with something in his mouth. My little brother giggles as he runs after our dog, struggling to keep up with him. The dog weaves through crowds of servants, making its way towards the front of the palace.
Fabian sighs, frustrated. I put my hand on his shoulder and urge him to continue on with me.
Once we reach the front doors, we see that Roger has stopped running and is having his belly rubbed by Aunt Rowan, while her oldest son, Rowell, races towards my brother.
Rowell and Fabian run off quickly, already in the midst of a game. Lord Maxwell gives me a side hug, holding his and Aunt Rowan’s youngest son to his side.
I hug Aunt Rowan, then give the little babe a kiss on his chubby cheek. I lead them towards the sitting room, where Mama drinks tea with Duchess Hana and Duchess Olivia.
After the adults are all seated, they usher me out of the room. I giggle, saying that there’s nothing they have to hide from me, but I know what they’re planning and agree to leave.
Outside the sitting room, I decide to go look for Gabe and Daddyo, hoping that their meeting with the dignitary was over. I check my watch and see that they should have been done about a half-hour ago, but I know my brother had probably gone on overtime.
He had started taking his duties more seriously as of late, and I know it’s because of the talk Daddyo had with us at Applewood. He had insisted that I come along into town with them and receive the same speech, even though I said I was fine with staying behind.
Gabriel and I had laughed when Daddyo told us that he was the heir and I was the spare. The silly phrase wasn’t the only thing that sent us into a fit of laughter, but it was also a bit of disbelief. My brother and I weren’t naive; we knew what the people of the court had to say about me being a member of the royal family. Daddyo never failed to remind us that their opinions didn’t matter and that I was his daughter no matter what anyone said, but of course, people kept talking.
Sometimes I wanted to argue with him and say that keeping my last name as Blaise — while Gabe’s had been changed to Rys years ago — would keep me from being fully considered his daughter, even though he had officially adopted me when he married my mother.
But I knew such arguments were ones that broke his heart. The smallest change in my behavior made him fear that I no longer considered him my father, which was heartwarming, in a sense, but also depressing. (When I was about twelve, I had thought calling him “Daddyo” was too childish, so like Gabe I called him “Dad.” One morning he pulled me to the side and with the saddest eyes asked me if I was upset with him, or if he had done something to anger me. I laughed it off but went back to calling him “Daddyo” immediately. Though I cringed every time I said it, it was better than upsetting the only man who had ever felt like a true father to me).
And so most of my daily thoughts were now consumed by the anger I had for my biological father — everything he did to my family, and to the nation and people I had come to love — but I was slowly coming to terms with it. Even though I was ashamed of him, I was accepting the fact that he could no longer dictate my life or the lives of those I love.
These past few months marked ten years after the bombing. When my father had died, and Gabe and I had been in the hospital waiting for Mama to get better, I had been childishly angry at him. My last clear memory with my biological father had been reminding him to take pictures of the new exhibit at The Met so I could get a glimpse of what he and my mother would see. He was never able to show me those photos. That is, if he even took any.
But that was a different kind of frustration. One that, if my little brother Fabian expressed, I would sadly laugh at and explain to him the seriousness of the situation.
Theodore’s actions had controlled all of us, even Daddyo, Uncle Drake, Lord Maxwell, and Duchess Hana.
But now we are all in control of our lives again. Uncle Drake and Duchess Olivia had done honorable work with the King’s Guard. Lord Maxwell and Aunt Rowan had married a few months after my parents did, and a year later Duke Rashad married Hana — around the time Fabian was born. Daddyo eventually mended his relationship with Uncle Leo, and every few months his family would come to visit us.
Any person who was a threat, such as Boris — his betrayal was one that broke my childish heart, but not a day passed where I missed him— and Uncle Drake’s ex-fiancée, Jessica, were spending the rest of their lives behind bars.
It had taken our parents a while to tell us everything, and when they finally did, it took even longer for us to come to terms with it all. But Daddyo and Mama never pushed us away when we needed to talk to them.
As I walk up the stairs to Daddyo’s office, I take deep breaths, allowing the concerns to flow out of me. Before I knock on the door, my mind is clear.
I smile to myself as I reach for the handle, memories of our obstacles so far behind us that I feel foolish worrying about them at all.
Inside, Daddyo, Gabe, Fabian, and Rowell are crowded around something on the desk. Everyone turns to face me.
“Is it time for the party?” Rowell asks.
“Shush!” Fabian elbows his friend while Gabe and Daddyo laugh.
Once the boys are done scolding each other, Daddyo asks, “What do you think about eating out for lunch?”
“Same restaurant?” Fabian questions.
“Unless you wish to go someplace else?”
I shake my head, then link my arm through his. “No, I like that place.”
As we walk out the doors of the palace, we spot Uncle Leo, Aunt Katie, Hunter, and Heather with bags in their hands. Once they see us, they lightly toss those bags back into their limo, and they join us in our car to go eat lunch.
We had eaten in this restaurant on my eighth birthday, which had been only a week after Mama and Daddyo had come back from their honeymoon. My family came here often, and Uncle Leo liked joining us.
We enter the restaurant and see that the place is empty. The menus are put in front of us, and we order without looking at it. Fabian and Rowell talk between themselves, and Heather tells me about their flight, while Uncle Leo asks Gabe how he’s feeling.
Gabe shakes his head, an amused look on his face. “You know, I thought this would all be overwhelming. I was scared that the pressure would bring the anxiety back, but it didn’t.”
Uncle Leo pats my brother’s back. “Now tell me about that girl you mentioned in that course you took.”
Gabe’s face goes red, and he gives a little laugh. Aunt Katie raises her eyebrows, while Daddyo urges him to talk.
My brother leans back in his seat, the amusement increasing. “I’m think I’m gonna draft a letter to her.”
“Oh?” Aunt Katie takes a sip of her drink.
“I’m planning on asking her to join the next Social Season. That reminds me.” He cuts off and looks towards our father.
But before he can say anything, Uncle Leo goes, “Gabe, go to your dad when you want to know what not to do. Take my advice instead—”
Hunter interrupts him: “You say that like your advice doesn’t backfire on the regular.”
“Poor soul is speaking from experience,” Heather whispers to me. Daddyo overhears her, and laughs with us.
We leave as soon as we finish our meal, not considering dessert. The ride back to the palace is filled with smooth conversations and laughs. As the limo stops in front of the entrance, everyone tells me to exit the vehicle first.
Tentatively, I crawl out the car and make my way up the stairs. Servants open the doors for me, and the entire room is flooded with balloons, decorations, and sweets.
My mother kisses my cheek, then Daddyo and Gabe wrap me in a hug. Fabian runs off quickly with Rowell.
The rest of my parents’ friends continue giving me birthday wishes, until Fabian finally reemerges with an envelope in his hand. Everyone crowds around me as I open it and take out a thin, rectangular piece of paper.
“It’s a bookmark!” Fabian cries as I examine it. I turn it over in my hands, feeling the soft edges against my skin. On the other side, there’s a drawing of six stick figures. Fabian puts his finger on the bookmark, and I bring it to his eye level.
“That’s you with the books since you like reading,” he tells me. “That’s Daddy and Mom since they have the crowns, and Gabe is the one with the smaller crown, and that’s me and Roger, and that’s our home in the background.” I follow his finger as he points to his little drawings. “I know it’s not very good, but I didn’t know what else to get you!” He giggles as I further examine it.
“No one knew what to get her,” Gabe comments. “Little Miss—” he takes on a high pitched voice— “Oh, you don’t have to get me anything! No, really, I don’t want anything!”
The room of friends laugh and chuckle at the mocking voice.
I go through everyone else’s gifts, which are mostly things that I can use, but don’t need and didn’t ask for; like Fabian said, everyone had wanted to get me something, but I was in need of nothing. I know that Uncle Maxwell was more than frustrated when I told him so, and he must have been even more upset when he couldn’t get any hints out of my parents either. His and Aunt Rowan’s present to me are new pointe shoes.
Duchess Olivia had started giving me more self-defense lessons, so her gift to me is a stiletto knife, along with stiletto shoes.
Duke Rashad and Duchess Hana give me a pearl necklace: when the Duchess had taught me how to paint, we had made portraits of each other and had illustrated pearls on our pictures. The portrait I had made of his wife was the Duke’s favorite.
Uncle Leo and Hunter give me new paint brushes and a steel paint easel. Heather hands me a cup with a picture of her and I on it — I had given her something similar for her birthday — and Aunt Katie gives me a cute bag.
Uncle Drake gifts me a new pair of skis: last winter and during the Social Season, we had raced down a slope and I had lost both times. “So you can practice a bit more next time we head to Lythikos,” he tells me with a pat on my back.
Gabriel hands me a heavy box. My arms burn as I make my way towards a table and put it down. Inside are books that are on my to-read list, candies that we had tried and liked on our last family trip to Italy, a bracelet with charms, and gold earrings shaped like a crescent moon. “You didn’t give me any clues for what you wanted, so I just put all of them in there,” my brother says with a shrug.
Mama and Daddyo’s gift is next. My father wraps me in a large hug, then holds me to his side as servants roll in a new Baroque piano — it was similar to the one I had seen in a museum the last time we visited Applewood. The old one was being wheeled out; I had played it daily in the last few years, both for the entertainment of my family and for important members of the nobility, and even though it was constantly cared for, the strings had started to become dusty. I knew we wouldn’t get rid of it; I was sure that Daddyo had plans to donate it, but again I felt that there was no need for a newer one. We could have just taken more care of the one we had.
But I don’t complain. I could never complain for this group of people who love me so dearly. I accept hugs from everyone in the room, and then the cake is brought out. The frosting looks like a painting, and is sweetly smooth as we eat it, the icing staining the corners of our mouths.
We sit and chat about nothing at all, simply enjoying the blissful companionship that came with family and beloved friends. I had told my parents that I didn’t want a big party, and this was exactly what I had in mind. The room is light and joyful: Uncle Maxwell tells jokes while Uncle Drake rolls his eyes, Mama throws her head back, Daddyo’s arm around her while he tries his best not to laugh, and Uncle Leo, Hunter, and Gabe wipe tears from their eyes.
The rest of the party is spent like that. The irreplaceable friendships that had went from nothing, to everything, to nothing again, then beyond the meaning of intimacy that came with being understood. It fills the rooms of the palace as it has these last ten years.
I think about the gifts I’ve been given today, wondering where I would put them in my room — except for the piano, which I will leave in the ballroom — and how I will use them. I smile when I remember Gabe’s joke about my refusing presents.
I don’t think he understands that I didn’t wish for specific objects because I can’t remember the last time I longed for anything, and if I ever did, there was no request that Daddyo wouldn’t strive to fulfill. My life had never felt lonely or without purpose, and I think that means I’ve found happiness. Like everyone in this room.
Daddyo notices that I’ve zoned out a bit. From the corner of my eye I can see the gentle wrinkles on his face and the graying roots of his hair. He leans towards me and plants a kiss on my forehead. “Happy birthday, Ella dear. I love you.”
I smile at him, then use my fork to steal a bit of icing off his cake. Fabian follows suit, and soon our dad’s cake has no frosting on it.
The three of us laugh, and with a mouth full of sugar I say, “I love you, too, Daddyo.”

Between the Two of Us ~ Chapter 5
Masterlist || Previous Chapter || Next Chapter
Summary: Jurdan High school AU. Rivals Jude and Cardan are forced to partner up for a history project, and drama ensues. Filled with banter, pranks, an unhealthy amount of pining, and Jude being clueless as usual.
Trigger Warnings: I don’t think there’s anything so far, but please let me know if there’s anything I missed!
Jude went through her shift at work in a distracted haze. Locke had texted her this morning that he would pick her up at 6:30 and to dress casually. The reality of her situation set in. She was going on a date. With a boy.
“Jude, are you okay? You look… tense,” the Bomb said as walked past Jude to the blender.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” She paused, hesitating. The Bomb had noticed Locke was into her. “Okay, so I might have a date tonight. With the guy that came in last week.”
The Bomb’s face lit up. “Wow, he moved faster than I expected. Do you like him?”
Jude’s face scrunched up. “I mean… I think. He’s cute.” When the Bomb made a face, she added, “and nice!”
“Okay… so what’s wrong?”
Jude had no idea how to express everything that was bothering her, so she just said, “I have no idea what to wear.”
The Bomb smiled. “That, I can help you with.”
~~~
A couple hours later, after they had finished up their shift, Jude was watching as the Bomb sifted through the clothes in her closet. It was slightly disconcerting to see her coworker in her bedroom, but Jude found that she didn’t mind.
“These pants are so cute!” The Bomb exclaimed. “You are going to look so good in these.” She tossed them at Jude. “Try these with a black tank top. Oooh, and this belt. How have you never worn any of these clothes before?”
Jude laughed and walked into the bathroom. “I never had you to style my outfits for me, that’s why.”
When she returned from the bathroom, the Bomb gave her an approving look. The tan plaid pants loosely fitted her legs and cutoff around her ankles. They were cinched at the waist by a black belt, with her black tank top tucked in. When Jude looked in the mirror, she was surprised to find she liked how it looked on her.
“How do you like it?” The Bomb asked.
“I think… I think I really like it,” Jude replied, a hesitant smile pulling at her lips. She rubbed her arms self-consciously. “But maybe with a jacket on top.”
The Bomb grinned. “Yeah, I was thinking you could wear this black jean jacket on top. What shoes though?”
Jude dug to the back of her closet and pulled out her doc martens. She’d barely worn them, usually opting for the comfort of her converse, but she had a feeling they would work with her outfit.
“Yes, perfect. Those. You are going to knock that boy off his feet.”
A strange feeling enveloped Jude. She’d always imagined that Taryn would be there freaking out with her on her first date, but when Jude had tried to bring it up to her, Taryn had just mumbled a “cool.” They’d always been close, especially after the death of their parents, sticking together through everything that had changed in their lives after. But recently, Jude felt a distance growing between them that had never been there before, and she had no idea why. Even Vivi had her own life in college, and she only visited on the weekends.
Jude swallowed, sorting out her thoughts. “I- thanks. For helping me. I’m not the best at this stuff.” She gestured vaguely at the clothes littered on her bed.
The Bomb beamed, sitting down on the edge of Jude’s bed. “It’s no problem. I love messing around with clothes. And my love life has been pretty boring recently, so it’s fun to do this with you.”
“I feel like I saw some sparks between you and a certain someone on Wednesday.” Jude had been introduced to the Roach and the Ghost during her previous shift, and she had sensed some weird sort of connection between the Bomb and the Roach, something a little more than friends.
“Me and the Roach are just really good friends,” The Bomb said, averting her gaze.
“I never said anything about the Roach.”
The Bomb groaned, pushing back a strand of frizzy white hair from her face. “Is it that obvious?”
“I mean, I noticed.”
“Point taken.” The Bomb huffed out a laugh, and then flopped back onto Jude’s bed so she was lying down. “I’ve had a huge crush on him since high school. We’d both transferred to our school in the middle of high school, and so we were both kind of the awkward outcasts and we became friends. I’ve been stupidly pining over him ever since.”
Jude’s eyes widened. “Wow.”
“Yeah, I know. But enough about my hopeless love life. Today, you’re going onto a date. You have to text me with updates.”
Jude nodded and then the Bomb helped her do her makeup. By the time Jude was ready, a knot of anxiety had formed in her chest.
“It’s fine if it’s not perfect,” said the Bomb reassuringly as Jude led her to the door. “Just let yourself have fun and enjoy it.”
“Okay. I can do that… I think. I’ll text you after. Hopefully with good news.”
The Bomb laughed and walked to her car. “I’ll see you at work!”
Jude smiled. Even if this night ended terribly, at least she could say she’d made a friend out of it.
~~~
Jude shut the door behind her and dropped against it, sighing happily. She, Jude Duarte, had gone on a date, and it had gone well. Really well.
Locke had picked her up exactly on time and driven her to a cute burger place. At first, the conversation was a little stilted. He’d asked her about her project with Cardan, and she might have nervously blabbered to fill the awkward silence.
But eventually, Jude had let herself relax and the conversation came more naturally. They moved on to other topics, talking about everything from college plans and parents. In the middle of their conversation, he had reached out and clasped onto her hand. Jude had flushed, but he had kept talking like he hadn’t done anything.
Throughout the whole date, he was charming and sweet. And he looked really good in his white collared shirt. And then after, when he’d walked her back to her door, Locke had kissed her. Just a brief brush of lips, but it was nice.
Jude floated up the stairs to her room, lips tingling from the memory, and bumped into Taryn. She stepped back in surprise. “Oh, hey.”
Taryn’s eyes took in Jude’s outfit, expression unreadable. “He dropped you off?”
“Uh, yeah.”
“Right.”
Annoyance sparked inside Jude. “My date was nice, thanks for asking.” When Taryn didn’t respond, Jude grit her teeth in frustration. “What’s up with you? Why are you being all weird?”
Taryn scoffed. “Nothing. Maybe I just don’t want to hear about how perfect your date was.”
“Fine. Okay. Forget I said anything.” Jude marched into her room, shutting the door behind her. She didn’t even know why they were fighting. Frustration pricked at her, and her good mood disappeared just as quickly as it had come.
~~~
The next morning, Jude got ready with a renewed determination not to let anyone ruin her day. Not Taryn, and definitely not Cardan, who had invited himself over by text to work on their project. Jude hadn’t even bothered objecting, knowing it was useless.
After texting the Bomb about her date and receiving an excited frenzy of messages back, she peeled off her face mask and turned on her favorite playlist as she ate her breakfast.
When the doorbell rang a few minutes later, Jude put her plate in the dishwasher and washed her hands before going to open the door. Jude exhaled and mentally prepared herself, peeking through the peephole on the door.
But nothing in the world could have prepared her for what she saw next: Cardan Greenbriar, standing outside her front door, bouquet of red roses in hand.
A/N: The next chapter is definitely going to be interesting hehe. I was too lazy to edit anymore so I figured I’d just post. Hope you like it!! :)
call you mine
Pairing: Lee Donghyuck x Reader
Genre: fluff
Tags: bestfriends!au
Warnings: lil bit of language
Synopsis: Donghyuck hadn’t yet mustered the courage to tell you just how often he found himself staring at you for longer than he should have. He hadn’t found the words to say that he cared for you in ways that were inappropriate for just a ‘friendship’. But he was back at it again, missing you like you owned the other half of his heart, yearning for your presence like you were his oxygen.
A/N: happy birthday to the beautiful, the breath-takingly talented, the one and only, Lee Donghyuck! i love you with a whole half of my heart (the rest belongs to jaehyun whattt) you make me smile, you make me laugh, you inspire me. i wish you all the happiness and love and health in the world on your birthday!
// can I call you my own and can I call you my lover, call you my one and only girl // (x)
i.
There it was again. The strange thrumming in the center of Donghyuck’s chest. Buried deep within the recesses of his heart, it seemed memories of you were begging him to let them resurface. And he rolled over, eyes finally opening as the grey of the early morning clouds painted the entirety of the sky. Glancing around his room, he released an inaudible sigh. 04:29
The sun had yet to come up.
He fumbled around for his phone in the darkness of his barely lit room. The chances of him falling asleep again were close to none, Hyuck knew this from experience. So as he lay there, the sound of his heartbeat filled his ears and he gave in. A foreign dampness surfaced around his eyes as thoughts of you poured into the empty cracks and crevices of his heart. The secret smile he caught on your lips every time he said something dumb. The color of your eyes and the way you’d stare at him when he spoke, laughed, cried, sang. The way you looked in his clothes, when the hem of his shirts cascaded past your knees and his sleeves fell way past your hands. Oh, he loved that.
He missed you. Donghyuck smiled to himself, albeit the bitter taste that filled his mouth when he found himself staring at your contact on his phone again. It was a picture of you. Not a selfie though. There you were, sitting on his lap in one of his large hoodies, a giggle frozen on your lips when you realized that he had had his phone out to record the fact you had laughed at the dumb joke Mark told him was much too cringe-worthy for anyone to even consider laughing at.
There was no viable reason he was missing you so badly. It wasn’t as though he hadn’t seen you in a while. No, he saw you just a couple days ago. And it wasn’t as if the two of you had broken up. Donghyuck hadn’t yet mustered the courage to tell you just how often he found himself staring at you for longer than he should have. He hadn’t found the words to say that he cared for you in ways that were inappropriate for just a ‘friendship’. But he was back at it again, missing you like you owned the other half of his heart, yearning for your presence like you were his oxygen.
Before his mind could convince him it was a bad idea, the sound of dialling filled the stillness of the room and increased the anxiety pumping through his veins. Shit. Had he really just pressed ‘call’?
“Hello?” your tired voice filtered through the phone speaker after a few rings and guilt flooded him at the possibility of having woken you up. “Hyuck?” you yawned when he didn’t immediately respond. “Are you there?”
“Oh-” a pretty pink blush bit at his cheeks at the sound of your low morning voice. “Yeah sorry, I’m here,” he mumbled. “Did I wake you?”
Your soft chuckle played through his phone and Hyuck swore his heartbeat sped up tenfold. “You’re good,” you said, the soft rustling of blankets reminding him of how soft your comforter was that one time he slept over. “It’s been hard to stay asleep recently.”
A grumble of sympathy sounded in the back of his throat. He was familiar with the struggle. After all, you had been occupying his mind recently. “Are you alright?” His voice came out low, concerned and he shifted in his bed, kicking off his comforter. The sound of a brief exhale came from your side of the line and it was a moment before you answered.
“...you wanna come over?”
Donghyuck’s heart jumped into his throat. “I can be over in ten if you need.” He half expected you to laugh at the giddiness he knew seeped so obviously from his response. But you didn’t. Instead, you stuttered, sounding almost unsure by his certainty.
“I-I… are you sure? You don’t n- I mean, I don’t want to be a bother making you get up so early in the morning, too. Yo-you don’t need to, I-”
He laughed, a deep sound so rooted in absolute assurance that you stopped spouting nonsense. “It’s no bother, Y/N. I’d travel the world to make sure you’re okay. I hope you know that.”
The silence he was met with made him realize the magnitude of what he had just slip. Fuck. He thought. Early mornings truly made for no filter. Finally, you spoke, the shy smile obvious in your voice.
“Well, I guess it’s good I don’t live that far away, right?” And the smile that bloomed on Haechan’s lips near rivaled the slowly rising sun.
“I’ll be over in a few.”
ii.
It was 4:56 when Haechan called you. Truth be told, you hadn’t been asleep at all. It was one of those nights where there really wasn’t anything preventing you from falling into the clutches of unconsciousness, but the whispering of night continued to call you, distract you. Exhaustion was settling into your bones as the night had gone on for hours and your mind insisted on waking you up every other collection of minutes. From food to television to the newest episode of that one show… Anything and everything was on your mind. It was fine, though.
Anything to distract you from Donghyuck. Once thoughts of him infiltrated your mind, there was nothing that could deactivate the ever present stream of cues and triggers that reminded you of him. A sliver of sun peeking through the cracks of your blinds could bring you back to the way his natural honey tinted skin gleamed in any natural lighting. The smell of freshly washed linen would hasten the slow jog of your heartbeat to a rolling sprint until you could no longer rid the thought of waking up, snuggled next to him as the credits of a movie played out silently. The fabric of your favorite black hoodie rubbing against the skin of your back could snatch your attention from anything and everything to the fading ghostly feeling of his nose pressed into your neck, breath hot against your skin, arms doing nothing but tightening around your waist.
And the moment the phone rang, your rigid body loosened. Your thoughts stilled, having been interrupted by the ringtone you had set especially for him.
--
Just as he promised, he was there within 10 minutes. A mirthful smile graced your lips when you heard the familiar knocking pattern. It sounded just like everything else about him when he was with you. Soothing. Gentle. Persistent. You padded down the hallway with bare feet, rubbing the remaining sleep from your eyes. You paid no heed to the early morning chill of the tile beneath your feet despite the fact your body was adorned only by one of his hoodies and the pair of panties you had fallen asleep in.
Gentle, tired, and filled to the brim with unadulterated adoration was the smile you were met with as you opened the door. The drab monotony of the white-ish clouds hovering over the brightening horizon did nothing to block the smile full of life found on Donghyuck’s precious lips. He was dressed in a light grey hoodie and large black sweat pants that dwarfed his figure. And for a moment, you gazed at him, drinking in the way his large eyes smiled back at yours, glassy with sleep. His soft hair stood, still tousled from sleep, straight up.
In that instant, you forgot that it was only 5 in the morning. But time was a social construct that slowed infinitely when you finally opened the door wider. It only took an instant for all the chill of the morning dissipate into nothing the second Donghyuck wrapped his arms tighter than ever around your body.
“Hey Y/N,” he murmured against the shell of your ear, deft fingers smoothing over your hair, your body, the fabric of his extra large hoodie draped well past your thighs. “Is now a bad time?”
A quiet chuckle reverberated in the husk of your chest and in turn, you buried yourself in the warmth only he could exude. “Don’t be ridiculous, silly goose. Being with you is never a bad time.” your words were mumbled, muffled by the thick layer of fabric separating your two bodies but you knew he understood. “Thank you for coming over,” you hummed, reveling in the steady beat of his heart. “I know this is kind of early.”
Hyuck pulled back far enough to shoot you a playful frown. “Don’t be ridiculous, Y/N. I was the one who called you this early anyways.” You smiled.
“Oh right, huh?” Another few moments in his grasp and you would have most definitely fallen asleep. But a gust of wind curled through the front door that had been left ajar by your early morning visitor and you made a sound of displeasure. Slowly, slowly, and almost reluctantly, you extracted yourself from his grip.
“Wait, what are you-” He spun about on his heels, watching as you stumbled around him to close the door. “Oh, nevermind.” Within seconds, your dear friend’s arms enveloped you again, this time snaking sneakily around your waist from behind. “I was like, what are you doing, trying to sneak away? I just got here.”
You giggled, resting your head back against his chest. “I was just closing the door, don’t worry.” The cool of the brisk morning air slowly subsided the longer your relaxed into his cozy embrace. Before long, the soft pattern of inhales and exhales floating from both of your lips fell into a type of white noise... a type of rhythm-less music.
“Right, because I was about to say…” his breath brushed down the exposed skin of your collarbone, sending an involuntary shiver down your spine. “Even with you right here, it was getting kinda cold.” You nodded in agreement as another giggle escaped your lips and you twisted in his arms to look up at him.
“Good thing you’re here.”
“Why’s that, princess?” Donghyuck leaned down, resting his forehead against yours in such an intimate gesture that you nearly gasped in suprise. His bated breath danced across your skin and in that moment, you were made aware of just how close his lips were to yours.
You tore your gaze off the boy before you, eyes bouncing off random things around the room to keep the blush threatening your cheeks at bay. “I don’t know... I guess, whenever I’m with you- you just- when you’re around, I’m always warm.”
iii.
Waking up at 4, jogging over to your house at 5, falling asleep with you in his arms, and waking up again at one in the afternoon hadn’t originally been part of his plan for the day. But as Donghyuck blinked the sleep away from his eyes to see you in one of his hoodies with your messy hair splayed over your pillow and your body nestled securely into his arms, he couldn’t find a reason to complain.
The curve of your lips twitched when he released an arm from around your body to brush a couple strands of hair from out of your face. A smile made its way up to his face when you woke, glancing up at him blearily. Warmth filled his belly as you gazed up at him through your wispy eyelashes, the upwards slope in your sleepy smile widening, the affection in your eyes glowing something fierce.
It took a second for you to realize this - laying beside him with Hyuck’s arms resting firmly around your hips - was not a dream, not just another wistful fantasy you had woven together from the solitude of your single-ness and had yet to wake up from.
The sun streaming through your blinds hit his mussed, auburn hair in such a way that it looked golden, like a halo, or a sun. One of his arms lay under your head like a makeshift pillow. His other hand grazed your cheek, tracing the outline of your face as you memorized the way he looked now - in all his lazy afternoon glory - beside you. And when the realization finally settled in, a slow, wonder-filled laugh left your mouth. Donghyuck propped himself up on an elbow, grinning down at you.
“What’s so funny, beautiful?”
“Nothing,” you shook your head, the nickname flying past your mind, smile still playing at the edge of your lips as you rolled over to hide your burning face in his chest. “I just… this was the best I’ve slept in such a long time that I almost forgot you came over this morning, so seeing you was like… Woah, who is this dream man laying beside me? Am I still asleep?”
Biting back a smile, he hummed thoughtfully and pushed himself up into a sitting position. “Maybe I should sleep over more often then? You could get more sleep and a hot man to wake up to each morning!”
You sat up with him, sleep drunk smile decorating your lips. Out of instinct, you found your hands reaching forwards to run your fingers through his hair, fixing all the silly little strands that stood up in all different directions. Had you been more focused on his face though, you would have noticed the light dusting of pink settling over his cheeks. You were so… close. And you felt so much like home. Donghyuck’s heartbeat pounded in his ears and he prayed you couldn’t hear it.
“I mean, honestly, though-” you giggled in response. “-my bed’s always open for you, if you’d like. I know I wouldn't complain if I woke to this every morning.” Redirecting your gaze down to his deep, chestnut colored eyes, you leaned forwards to bop the tip of his nose playfully, giggling again when he blinked in surprise. “Now come on, I’m hungry and I wanna go out.”
But as you pushed yourself off your bed, Hyuck sat, pondering your words. Would you really be okay with waking up beside him every morning? He ran his fingers through his hair, sliding out of your bed to follow you out into the kitchen.
God, he loved you. He loved the way you giggled, he loved the way your fingers felt in his hair. He loved the way you looked, wrapped his arms. He loved the way you gazed up at him through your eyelashes. Perhaps today was the day, then, he thought to himself. Maybe I’ll tell her today.
Having jogged up ahead, you turned, any ounce of exhaustion from before completely dissipated into thin air. You smiled, wrapping your arms - still draped in his hoodie - around yourself. Donghyuck had fallen behind, eyes glazed over in thought as he moved sluggishly after you.
“Hyuck, you bean-brain,” you called. He blinked the looming confession from the forefront of his mind and shook his head a couple times before realizing you had called him.
“’Sup beautiful?”
A pretty pinkish glow slid onto your cheeks just as a cheeky smirk fell over his lips. “I think I have some of your clothes in my closet if you wanna change.”
“Why?” he shot you a look before lifting his arm to sniff himself. “Do I smell or something? I could’ve sworn I put on deodorant before I ran over this morning.”
You rolled your eyes, wrinkling your nose as if you had smelt something dank. “Yes, you smell horrid- no, you smell fine, Hyuck.”
“Then why am I changing?”
“So you don’t look like you just woke up.” It wasn’t like he didn’t look good, large t-shirt crinkled from cuddling with you. Donghyuck looked more than good. He looked angelic. He looked inviting and soft. Your eyes traced his well cut figure, taking the time to study everything. There was something about him and the way he stood, the way he looked at you, the way that little half smile quirked the corners of his lips up... there was something about him that just screamed boyfriend... and a shameless blush burned at your features when you realized you had been staring, again.
“You look like you just woke up,” he pouted. “And I must say... you work it pretty well, cutie.”
“Oh, shut up,” you growled playfully, turning back towards the kitchen. “Just go change, okay? You want anything before we head out?”
“Just for you to put some pants on,” he called on his way back to your room. You snorted at his comment from your precarious stance atop a dining chair.
“Why? Your hoodie goes like almost all the way down my thighs.”
“Much as I love the way you look in my clothes, we can’t have other guys seeing what’s mi-” Donghyuck stopped, both physically and verbally right in front of your door. Shit, did he really almost say that? He had been mumbling, so there was a chance you didn’t hear him. Then, at the same time, part of him longed to call you ‘his’.
“What’d you say?” your disembodied voice carried through his panicked thoughts. “I didn’t catch the last part.”
“Nothing.” He sighed in relief - albeit a little disappointed - the simple action releasing all the tension in his shoulders before turning back towards your room. No, he sighed, shuffling through your closet, a smile still very much present on his face. Today was already as good as it was going to get. He was spending it with you.
Maybe not today.
Snowed In 8
Pairing: Geralt x fem!reader
Warnings: Smut, all the yearning, unprotected sex, cockwarming, if you've got something against tubs? major ‘no one can find the emotional braincell’ vibes (plz hmu if there’s anything I didn’t tag I wanna make this a safe space for everyone to thirst together)
Summary: It’s the last night before they go back down the mountain 👀 some hella angsty sexy times. Im sorry the wine hit hard
Part 7 here
__________
The snow started to melt on day fifty nine.
Everyone was elated, people were buying rounds for the crowded dining room and hollering when a slushy chunk of snow slid off the eves, but not you. You told Geralt you were just so sick and tired of the assholes in the dining hall you wanted to scream. If he didn't believe you, he hid it well.
You were dreading leaving. Falling asleep curled into Geralt's side every night, sex or no sex, was safe and warm and home. You almost thought the anxiety and cabin fever would be worth it to go on with him so close.
The night before you were supposed to leave, you once again found yourself nestled against him, sitting in front of the fire. His arms were no longer hesitant to wrap around you and, though your mind still reeled, your heartbeat didn't stutter under his touch. If anything your body only felt calm in his arms.
You'd mumbled something about finishing this book before you left, it being the last of a set you were sure you'd never find outside of Novigrad, and Geralt had settled by the fire, pulling you with him without a word. As much as you enjoyed the book, you were finding it impossible to focus. Half of you wanted nothing more than to turn and kiss Geralt with everything you had, tell him you loved him, and accept whatever fate befell you. The other half was greedy and covetous. She reminded you that losing this, dignity be damned, would turn your heart to dust.
"Y/N?"
"Geralt?"
"You haven't turned the page in a while. I thought you were asleep." He gave you a gentle squeeze as he spoke.
"Oh…"
"You okay?"
You sighed, letting the book fall closed and resting your head back against his chest, "Just restless I guess…"
"Mmmm, it'd be a shame if we couldn't get a good night's sleep before our trek down the mountain." Geralt seemed to completely envelop you, his lips brushing your temple as he spoke.
You held a hand over his arms, "A crying shame." You agreed, "But first a bath, I feel gross."
You could feel his smile as he pressed his cheek to your hair, "A bath would be nice."
This was almost perfect.
Other than the fact that after this it's over.
You pushed the thought from your mind as you scrambled to your feet, gathering a couple towels and the soap. Geralt warmed the water as usual before the two of you stripped and hopped in. Or tried to.
"I don't think we're both going to fit," you giggled, one leg hooked over the side of the tub and one knee pulled into your chest, trying to make room for Geralt.
He squatted down, extending his legs on either side of your body, "Just barely." He teased, reaching a hand toward your ankle dangling over the edge. He guided your legs on either side of his hips, his touch stoking the needy fire in your belly.
The tub only allowed for you to scoot back so your knees were at his hips, which made scrubbing your body at the same time as him a little difficult, so you settled for just washing your hair. You got it all lathered up only to realize there wasn't any dignified way to rinse it. You sighed and shimmied a little closer to him so you could twist and bend back to dip your hair in the water. Geralt gripped your hips and pulled you into his lap before you could even try leaning over, earning a surprised squeak from you.
You could see the lust in his eyes, but his voice was soft and patient, "Lean back. I've got you."
You bit your lip and tried to ignore your heart fluttering at his words, leaning into his arm now wrapped around your waist. Your hips shifted, making your core brush his already hard cock, a gasp falling from your lips. He pulled you back up out of the water quickly, the way he moved you setting your body on fire.
You rocked your hips, notching his length between your folds and sighing in relief at some kind of friction.
"Mmmmmm, almost." He purred, gripping your hips and holding you steady, "unless you can't wait for me to wash my hair?"
The hungry look in his eyes was betraying his calm tone. You could break his resolve if you wanted to, but you also wanted to know where this was going.
"And what if I can't?"
He grinned sitting up a little taller and pulling you down so he could whisper in your ear, "You could always wait on my cock…"
His words went straight to your pussy, making you shiver, "Fuck, yes. Yeah I want that."
He lowered his mouth to the side of your neck, nibbling at your jugular between words, "You want me to stretch you first?"
You tried to rock your hips again, wriggling against his grip, "No," the word came out far more desperate than intended, but the last thing you wanted to do after hearing that was wait.
He let go of your hips to guide one of your hands down between his thighs, "You can't move until I say, deal?"
You nodded eagerly, your hand finding his length and lining him up with your entrance, "No moving."
He gripped the edge of the tub with both hands as you sank over just his tip, moaning as you stretched around him. You took him ever so slowly, eyes fluttering closed when he shifted to lather the soap through his hair and pushed up another inch. You gasped and gripped the side of the tub with white knuckles.
The slow stretch was marvelous. You felt every millimetre of him as you sank the rest of the way down until you felt him bump your cervix. Any twitch was felt, even the minute movements caused by his hands working through his hair. You opened your eyes looking directly into Geralt's. He didn't look away like he usually did and you almost wished he had. His eyes burned into yours, twisting something in your chest close to the breaking point.
You tore your eyes away from his after too much time to justify and realized he had yet to rinse his hair. You let out a breathy giggle, brushing some suds out of his hairline, "Is this your new fashion statement?"
He smiled and shook his head before slowly leaning back into the water. The redistribution of weight had him pushing up against you even more, making you clench and him grunt as he gripped the side of the tub. The amount of self control he had would have impressed if you weren't lost in memorizing exactly how he felt inside you.
When he sat up and half pulled out you chased him, fighting every urge to grind your hips against his, "Can I move yet?" Your voice was higher than you'd enjoy admitting later, but at this point you didn't care how desperate you looked. You needed him. Not just to move, you needed him to hold you tight to his chest and soothe the ache in yours for at least a few more minutes.
"Almost."
For a moment you forgot you were sitting on his cock, taken by surprise by that damned tone again. You furrowed your brow, about to ask him about it before he held your hips to him with one arm and moved you both back against the end of the tub, giving him more leverage and better use of his hands.
You whined at the small shifts within you, "Geralt,"
He slowly lifted your hips so only his tip was left inside you, "Slow or fast?" His face was a mix of hopeful and absolutely lost, eyes begging for something from under heavy lids.
You whispered your answer, leaning forward to brace yourself against the edge, a hand to either side of his head, "Slow."
He sighed, almost in relief, and pushed into you again in deliciously long strokes. In the back of your mind you thought that now would be the time for neck bites, hickeys, hiding your face in his clavical, but his shoulders were just under the surface of the now choppy water. Either way you didn't think you'd be able to look anywhere but his face. He was staring up at you, his gaze so vulnerable and fervent that you thought you could cry. You gritted your teeth to cut off the tears before they showed on your face, drinking up every bit of him like this as you could.
His eyes never left yours as he thrust, gradually picking up the pace. You felt yourself getting closer to an orgasm with every snap of his hips. You kept your moans to breathless whimpers or gasps, something about the moment being far too personal to broadcast to the rest of the inn. You clenched around him, not trusting your words not to ruin this feeling.
Geralt grunted, sitting up just a little more so you had your arms draped around his neck instead of holding yourself up. He let you take the pace, reaching one hand to rub your clit as the other roamed your body. You felt him twitch and clench his jaw with the effort of holding back. Your hands instinctively tangled in his hair, as you rose and fell down his length, sending peaks of water over the edge of the tub.
He picked up speed circling your clit and you let your forehead rest on his, eyes closing as you whined. You did your best to keep that flood of pleasure at bay just a little longer, wanting this to last forever, but it came crashing over you anyway.
You pulled him closer to you, barely keeping the wherewithal to keep your lips to yourself as you rocked over him, holding your scream back to a strangled sigh and squeezing your eyes shut. As soon as you came he let go, spilling deep into you. His soft moans reverberated over your whole body, almost making you dizzy with a whole different type of satisfaction. You slowed your hips, settling on Geralt's lap, still around his softening cock, forehead pressed against his.
You didn't dare move as the two of you caught your breath, reveling in the feeling of being so close to him. You knew he'd started to recover when he laid one hand over your hip under the still warm water and the other cupped the back of your neck. You took a deep breath and opened your eyes to find his still closed, just as if he were sleeping. If you hadn't been so disoriented you might have called the look on his face reverence, but you just labeled it sweet. You untangled your hands from his hair only to trail your nails over his scalp and through the rest of the length. The contented hum you drew from him almost had you lurching forward to kiss him.
His lips were mere inches away, but you held your ground. If you were the one to initiate a kiss and he rejected you you really didn't think you'd be able to come back from it. So you waited, praying he'd push forward the two inches between your lips and end the all-consuming tension.
He never did. His hand slipped from the back of your neck, over your shoulder and down your back, sending chills up your spine.
"Ready to get out?"
You shook your head with the smallest of movements, earning a chuckle from deep in his chest. You were determined to savor every moment, every breath.
When you eventually got out of the bath and into bed you curled into his side and fell asleep, dreaming of staying right there forever.
Chapter Seven: August
Would You Call That Love
Pairing: Chris Evans x Raina Morrison (OC)
Rating: PG to PG-13 (Might be 18+ for some chapters)
He could confide in her about things going on in his life that he did not feel comfortable talking to his family or close friends about. Chris and Raina were able to establish a way to openly communicate with one another, but also being respectful of the other’s time and needs. It was the only constant “relationship” he had, but without all the nonsense of trying to build a life together. A “friends with benefits” situation. However, what happens when Chris starts rethinking his “relationship” with Raina and if either are willing to pursue something more?
Chapter Rating: PG
Author’s Note: Okay, I think I am back to paying more attention to this fic. I already know how I want to approach the next chapter.
Sadly, I do not know Chris Evans or anyone in his family, and this is just a fictional take on his life. I do not permit this fic to be reposted on other platforms.
On the whole, George’s birthday celebration went well. Raina turned out to be right that her dad did not make the trip alone. She and Chris met up with her dad for a birthday lunch, where they got introduced to Diane. The woman was in her early fifties and was a widow. It turns out, George and Diane had met a few years ago at a group therapy session for people still grieving the loss of a family member. The two recently got back in touch through Facebook and have continued to talk. It was only recently that George and Diane began dating.
It was all new for Raina to see her dad with another woman. She was aware that he had been out on dates before but never actually seen the man in the company of other women. Raina was glad to have Chris around for support. He definitely helped ease any tension or uncomfortableness during brunch by telling stories and keep the atmosphere light.
However, Raina could not deny that Diane was a nice woman and liked how attentive she was to George and vice versa. Raina noticed the older couple had a nice camaraderie with one another. Best of all was that Diane made her dad laugh and smile. That is what Raina wanted for her dad, to be happy. Who was she to hold any grudges or contempt because her dad was living his life? It is what Marie would have wanted. She would be happy that her husband and daughter were living their life to the fullest.
That night after the show, George and Diane came backstage to see Raina. Her dad gave her flowers, which she cherished.
“Amazing, sweetheart. Absolutely brilliant,” George gushed, hugging his daughter.
“Thank you, Dad.”
“I cried so many times, I lost count,” Diane revealed. “You have such a beautiful voice.”
“Oh my God, stop. You both are going to make me cry,” said Raina. Their compliments touched her. “I’m so glad you both got the see the show. Especially you,” she added, pointing to her dad. “I know it is late, but thanks for sticking it out.”
“Anything for you, kiddo,” replied George. “So, lunch again, tomorrow night?”
“Absolutely. You two going to sightsee tomorrow?” asked Raina
“We got some stops we want to make. Like George, I never make it over to the City. We’re going to stop by the Metropolitan.”
“She begged me to take her,” teased George and wrapped his arm around Diane.
“Well, it is a great place. The Museum of Modern Art is really cool. I took Chris there not too long ago. He enjoyed it as well. Museums, great places to have dates,” stated Raina happily.
When Raina bid George and Diane a goodnight, she got out of her costume and took off her makeup. She put on a pair of comfortable jeans, a long sleeve shirt, running shoes and headed off home to Chris. He opted not to attend the show that night as he had other prior commitments.
Chris had been staying at Raina’s place for a couple of weeks, ever since they revealed their true feelings for one another. He did make a trip back up to Concord, but it was to bring some of his things and Dodger back to New York. Raina was surprised that Chris brought Dodger with him but was more than happy to have the four-legged creature around. Raina loved that dog immensely, and it warmed her heart to see the two lounging on the couch when she got home.
Normally, she wouldn’t allow dogs on the furniture, but it was hard to deny such cute faces.
“Hey, you two,” Raina spoke, getting both of their attention. “What have you been up to?”
“Not much,” Chris spoke, turning towards Raina. “Move Bubba,” he nudged Dodger away to get up off the couch. He greeted Raina with a kiss and got out a wine glass from the cupboard.
“Red or white?” he asked her.
“White,” she replied and sat down next to Dodger. “Hey, kid. How are you doing?”
Dodger also proceeded to greet Raina with kisses and laid himself across her lap. She began scratching behind his ears.
“Here you go, my dear,” said Chris handing Raina the glass of wine.
“Thank you, darling. Dad and Diane enjoyed the show. They had a good time. They’re cute together,” Raina confessed to Chris.
He nestled down next to Raina and Dodger, who was now laid across both of their laps. “Your dad looks happy, and Diane is great. You’re right; they are cute. It is nice that they found each other. Looks like they are the real deal. You can handle that, right? If your dad and Diane were to take their relationship to the next level?”
Raina knew Chris was referring to marriage. “I want my dad happy and not alone. He has taken his time when it comes to dating. He wasn’t in a rush to move on, which, honestly, I appreciate. Dad has supported me all these years, so I will return the favor,” she answered.
The two sat in comfortable silence while watching the news. Of course, Chris had it on CNN. “How can you stand watching this stuff? At least watch MSNBC. They have Rachel Maddow,” Raina complained.
“I’m trying to stay informed, that is all. You used to watch this stuff too when Trump got elected to office,” Chris noted with a smirk.
“Oh God, do not remind me. I was obsessed with CNN and MSNBC. The only reason I watched the news 24/7 because I was waiting for the bomb to finally go off, and they’d find something to implicate Trump, and he would get kicked out of office, but nothing ever happened. It was exhausting.”
Nudging Dodger off of her, Raina got up and downed her glass of wine. “I’m going to take a shower and head to bed. Tomorrow, I’m going to have lunch with dad and Diane. Did you want to come?”
“Uh, I can’t. I have an appointment with Josh tomorrow. His still has some additional shading to do on the eagle,” said Chris, indicating to his covered chest of the unfished eagle tattoo. “Hey, before you head for a shower and bed, you got another vase of flowers. I put them over there on the table,” he motioned, pointing to the flowers, which were a lovely medley of lavender and white blooms. The clear cylinder vase offsets the colors of the flowers nicely.
Raina noticed a small envelope within the flowers and opened it.
Dearest Raina,
Congratulations on the success of Moulin Rouge. I am so happy for you. It is a great joy to see someone you know accomplished what they’ve been hoping for and working toward. You are proof that good things come to those who are willing to sacrifice to reach a worthwhile goal. Words can’t express how proud I am. You have the creativity and determination to do whatever you can dream. It really warms my heart to see you achieving your goal of being on Broadway.
Warmest regards,
T.H.
“Aw, how sweet,” Raina gushed at the note.
“What?” Chris asked. “Who sent the flowers?”
“Tom sent them,” she answered, taking a whiff of the flowers. They smelt heavenly.
Chris was confused. “Tom? Tom who?”
“Hiddleston,” was all Raina said and placed the card in the flower arrangement. “He’s in New York as well doing that play, ‘Betrayal.’ We should stop by and see it. You know, to show support and all.”
Chris watched as Raina headed into the bedroom, but he still sat there a little stunned. He looked to make sure Raina was indeed out of earshot; he got up to look at the card.
“What the fuck,” Chris said, stunned at the card. ‘Who the fuck does this guy think he is? Sending my girlfriend flowers and writing all that in the card!’ he thought to himself.
“Let’s go for a walk, Bubba. Come on,” Chris said to Dodger and got the dog’s leash. He figured some fresh would help clear his mind.
Walking the usual route for Dodger, Chris looked around to see if there were anyone around. Thankfully, the street was quiet, and no sign of fans or paparazzi. He pulled out a cigarette and lit it. Chris always felt bad when he lit one but couldn’t deny how the nicotine helped relax his anxieties. And right now, he was in desperate need of something to take his mind off the card.
Chris knew he was acting ridiculous. That Raina had no lingering feelings for Tom, she told him that to his face. However, he could not get the small feeling of jealousy bubbling under his skin. Plus, Tom was his friend. They respected one another. It wasn’t like Tom wouldn’t have found out with the rest of the world that Chris and Raina were in a relationship. Everyone knew!
Looking down at Dodger, Chris saw that the pup was ready to head back inside. “Okay, we’re going to head back home.” The dog picked up the pace at the mention.
These past few weeks with Raina had been nice. Chris liked the domestic routine he had gotten into with Raina. It was definitely something he would like to continue, maybe say in Massachusetts. Unfortunately, Chris knew he would not be able to get Raina to live in Massachusetts full-time. She set on staying in New York. That was her home. It was the place where she grew up and most likely wanted to stay.
‘Don’t start overthinking things, Christopher,’ he more rational side began to say, which oddly sounded like his mother.
Finally making it back home, Chris made his way into the master bedroom with Dodger following along. He saw that Raina had finished her shower and was already in bed. Dodger got up on the bed to nestle in the middle. Chris tried to get him off the bed, but Raina wrapped her arm around the furball.
“No, he is fine. He’s like a stuffed animal,” she pleaded and snuggled closer to Dodger.
Chris sighed but couldn’t help but smile at the sight. It was precious, his girl and his dog. He quickly took out his phone and snapped a picture. Chris stored it in his ‘Raina’ file on his phone. A keepsake of pictures of his girl that were just for him and not for public consumption. That is what his entire friendship and now relationship with Raina had been, something that was just for him. It was never for the public to scrutinize or even fawn over. He wasn’t with her for PR or added media hype. Chris always felt that what he had with Raina was honest and true. A real friendship that developed organically between two people that had progressed towards real love and devotion.
Sadly, both Chris and Raina knew there would be naysayers and critics watching their every move to see if any cracks were forming. With the positive press, it will ultimately bring out the negatives. It was the way of the game. A game Chris and Raina knew they had to be up for the challenge if they wanted their relationship to flourish and not burn out in flames in front of the whole world.
Chapter Twenty-Five: Special
The neighborhood was quaint, the neighbor’s kind and friendly; this was exactly the perfect place to raise a child. You were a little apprehensive at first, to even smile at your neighbors but Bucky insisted that everything was going to be fine. No one really knew who the two of you were or anything about your former lives; it made it easy to just be yourselves without the stigma of being a hero. No one knew, thus no one asked; it was nice. It really gave Bucky and you the opportunity to come out of your shells, which really showed how normal the two of you could be.
You stood at the end of the driveway, hands on your hips; Bucky was out doing some errands and the house was too quiet, so you decided to go for a walk. Wearing joggers, a tee, and comfortable walking shoes, you stepped away from the driveway and to your left. The house next store belonged to the Ramos family; they had two young children and two cats, who always managed to find their way over. Bucky took to living food out for them, which he went out to buy, near the garage door. Both parents, Rosie and Ben, were artists and took a more relax approach to parenting. Admittedly, you picked up a few tips from them because they were such great parents and they had become great friends to Bucky and you.
You walked past their house and continued your walk, talking your time. It was peaceful and you found yourself imaging walks with the baby; Bucky pushing the stroller as you strolled alongside him with a cup of tea. Cool mornings, cable sweaters and a beanie on the kid; it was everything you wanted but it was also a reminder of what was to come. Clint had decided not to return your calls, it had been a week since he called Tony and then radio silence on his end. You were not sure what he was thinking, and it did bring a level of anxiety onto you, but Bucky managed to keep you mostly busy.
Taking a deep breath, you decided not to think about any of it and continued on your walk around the block - stopping by Ben and Rosie’s for a quick chat when they saw you coming back to the house. They showed you a new painting they were working on together and you helped Rosie make lunch for the kids before excusing yourself.
“James should be home soon…”
Rosie grinned. “If that man comes home to find his pregnant wife missing, he’s going to lose his shit.”
Laughing, you agreed. “I better go.”
She walked you out and waved as you crossed back over to the house, you figured Bucky’s car would be in the driveway, but it was not parked in its usual spot. Instead, there was another car parked and the man leaning against the driver’s door made your heart drop. – it was Clint. He noticed you right away and pushed himself off the car. You took a deep internal breath, walked up to him, glanced down at the envelope in his hand, and asked what he was doing here.
“We could have done this over the phone, Clint,” you pointed out. He stood about a foot away from you and glared; he was pissed, it was obvious but so were you. “Bucky’s not here, I don’t feel comfortable doing this with you.”
“He has nothing to do with this,” he said, holding up the large envelope.
“I can say the same thing about Laura, then, can’t I?”
Clint’s face dropped and he shook his head. “This isn’t about her! How could you do this to me! That is my kid!”
He was right and you hated him for it – it was fucked up, but god, you hated him. You hated him for being there for you, on all those missions. Hated him for making you laugh and smile, and for making you want to do what you did that night. For crossing a line that had no return. Clint was a constant reminder of what you did and what the two of you did. If you could, you would make Bucky the biological father not Clint. If only wishes could come true.
“I wish you weren’t,” you said blankly, folding your arms over your stomach. Clint looked hurt but then his eyes seemed to focus in on something; your left hand was gripping your right arm and that is when he saw the wedding ring on your finger. It was not like you were hiding it, eventually everyone was going to find out and Clint needed to know.
“We got married last week, two friends of ours were witnesses.”
“…. you two go married. Why?”
You looked at him perplexed but knew what conclusion he was drawing up, because the two of you had thought the same – at least at first. Marrying Bucky had been an idea to give him a fighting change, the same say that Laura had by being Clint’s wife. In your blind attempt to keep Bucky from drowning, you wanted to marry him for all the wrong reasons. After he proposed, you knew marrying Bucky was not just the right thing to do; it was the only thing to do because you had fallen in love with him. Your heart belonged to him and it had for some time now, it had just taken your own foolishness to realize it.
Bucky was and would always be the love of your life – plain and simple.
“I married Bucky because I love him.”
“Marrying Bucky still doesn’t make him the father, I am,” Clint argued, pounding his hand to his chest. “I’m the father! Nothing’s ever going to change that, no matter how hard you wish it or who you marry.”
Heat rose to your face as you stood there, your hands came down to your sides and you glared at him before walking toward the front door. “Fuck you, Clint.”
“YOU DID, THAT’S WHAT GOT US HERE!”
Stopping in your tracks, your back straightened up and you turned to face him. He looked ashamed but he pretended to stand his ground as you walked back to him – inches from his face, you matched his eyes contact and knew clutched your fist.
“I fucked you because I didn’t have anyone I loved,” you whispered through your teeth. “If I had Bucky back then, I would have never even looked your way. There’s nothing special about you.”
As soon as the worlds left your mouth, you regretted them. It was painful to see the look on Clint’s face, knowing what you had just said to the father of your son. He had been your friend for so long, he was kind, funny, and had saved your ass plenty of times. He was special because he given you a child and all this pulling and pushing, it was doing no one any good. You held up a hand to your mouth and took a few steps back as tears fall from your face.
Clint stood quiet and still for a moment until he just nodded and took a deep breath. “I should go.”
You said nothing as he took the keys out of his pocket and turned to open the driver’s door, he got in and started the car. He doesn;t look at you as he reached out to close the door, but he does murmur something before shutting it. “Congratulations on the wedding.”
It is too painful to watch him drive off, so you turned and walked up to the front door. When the sound of his car fades into the background and everything is quiet, you turned to see an empty driveway.
