Every week someone makes a post about how annoying it is that Dick Grayson fans don't acknowledge his flaws, and every week someone replies with an explanation that the flaws OP listed are entirely fanon and inconsistent with canon as it actually happened and at this point I have to assume that none of those explanations are ever going to stick because clearly some people just want the fanon to be true.

Anyway, I'm just putting this here for me to edit and add relevant-to-the-topic links later so I'll have them nicely at hand to read and sooth my frustrations when it gets real bad out there. (Echo chambers are good when we use them to drown out character mischaracterizing fanon.)

Too many tearing eyes watching you with what could be described as melancholy. His soft voice echoes through the air, yet his look translates a certain fatality you didn't even consider.

"It is useless, MC. Your apologies came belated."

You feel your body, no, your entire being, your soul crushed with unsufferable anguish. Pure terror runs under your skin, He can't hurt you… he can't, right ?

"Stay still."

His words come adding a weight to you, you're stuck to the ground, unable to move nor talk. You can only raise your gaze to peer at what ressembles his face. The eyes you meet are far too familiar, golden tears flowing from them. He doesn't even try to blink.

It is too late.

Odasaku and Ango could not have been more different. Oda struggled with him self image and self worth yet somehow easily brought a light to others lives that was unmatched. Ango was ultimately content with himself as a person before being met with Oda's unmatched and pure goodness.

Ango sat at his home desk, eyes blearily staring at a too-bright screen in a too-dark room when Oda stumbled in. The redhead was sporting a dark blue sleep shirt, some boxers, and fluffy slippers that protected his feet from the cold hardwood floors.

Upon seeing his bleary eyed husband, Oda frowned. Ango had always been one to overwork himself, not like his job left him much of a choice. He stayed out of the direct line of danger, unlike Oda, but was left with mountain of "homework".

Oda, for the moment, neglected talking to the working man, instead opting to enter the kitchen and begin playing soft classical music. The soft piano melody blended with the smell of breakfast and the sounds of Odasaku's rustling.

Oda returned after what felt like just moments with food. The smell was something that had caught Ango's attention much earlier but the skinnier man had neglected the need for food in favor of work. While not uncommon, it certainly was not something that Oda planned on letting him get away with.

The classical piano was still playing, now louder with proximity.

Ango looked at the redhead inquisitively, "What's your scheme Odasaku?"

Oda smiled innocently, placing the tempting food on the desk next to Ango, "Scheming? Who do you take me for?"

"Why, I don't know, with how much time you spend with Dazai you very well might have picked up some of his scheming habits," Ango rubbed his temples, as if the mention of Dazai alone made his blood pressure spike and a headache manifest.

Oda, however, let out a carefree laugh, holding out a hand to Ango and blissfully ignoring his statement, "Dance with me?"

Ango's sleep deprived eyes stared up at his husband blankly. His gaze was vacant and his mouth formed an unamused line.

"I really must get this- guh-!"

With that Oda took his wrist firmly, but not harshly, dragging Ango onto his feet. Ango's face took on a surprised expression- he was unimpressed by Oda's antics.

The black haired man was swept around the living room lazily, the sun barely up in the sky with the soft faint chirping of the early morning birds. The soft piano almost carried them as they danced along with the notes- Ango reluctantly yet peaceful in nature.

When Ango looked at Oda he was struck by his beauty. The redheads stubble was scratchy yet ravishing as he looked at Ango with a tender smile- something reserved for very few. The barely there morning sun trickled through the very few openings of curtains and the distant and scarce light from inside the house created a romantic atmosphere that was fragile- bound to be broken.

Broken it was when Ango ultimately broke the goodness of Odasaku- his life partner. And he would never forgive himself for ruining something so precious to him. He would never forgive himself for taking away that smile reserved for him, for taking away the soaring melody that was Oda's life.

And while Ango was previously content with himself, the loss of a goodness such as Odasaku stuck him with insecurities that he would forever be fighting to fulfill.

Yes, Odasaku and Ango complimented each other well. Oda was the barely there morning light while Ango was the melancholy piano melody that he could never quite escape.

Unlike the previous question, this one elicits a much more somber, closed off reaction. Rick's face darkens and he glances away, a mixture of sorrow and guilt curling his features in a scowl. All his body language screams how he does not want to answer the query, in any fashion.

He could refuse. He could tell the sender to shove his fucking question where the sun doesn't shine and then to choke on it. However, that would leave lingering doubts and false hopes, would it? And he has learnt the hard way how those could be even more destructive than a hard, painful truth.

He and Clarissa...Chance now...have a complicated history. They have gone through a lot together, they have put each other through a lot. The wounds they have inflicted to each other have started to heal only now, after over eight and an incredibly troubled reunion. The feelings that they have shared, the good and bad alike, have always been passionate, intense, blinding.

He is glad that they have been given a chance to patch things up. He is happy to have Chance in his life. The other makes him a better person, even if he might never admit this out aloud. And he loves the man, he does, with the same fervor he had loved Clarissa all those years ago. He doesn't want to lose him again, no matter what. He'd go to the end of the multiverse and back to keep him by his side, and he is ready to do it.

However, Chance is not Rick. No one could ever be like his counterpart, no one could ever mean what his other self means to him.

Rick is his best friend, the love of his life, his other half (literally in a way), his soulmate. He'd give up the whole multiverse for him, leave behind everything he has, loves and has ever known just for the chance to be with him.

In a scenario where he's risking to lose them both, with no option other than picking one of them...He would hesitate, yes, but only for a few moments. The choice is painfully obvious, even if that doesn't make speaking the answer out loud any easier.
