Sooooooooooooo, Sukuna has fire powers right? So powerful and versed in using it that he burnt Jogo to ashes, A Special Grade Versed In Fire Powers.
In contrast to him, what if Gojo too has a element under his control?
We know Sugawara no Michizane is the ancestor of both Gojo & Yuta Okkotsu.
He was a scholar, poet, and politician of the Heian Period of Japan. He is regarded as an excellent poet, particularly in waka and kanshi poetry, and is today revered in Shinto as the god of learning, Tenman-Tenjin (天満天神, often shortened to Tenjin).
Ukiyo-e by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi depicting Sugawara no Michizane as the Tenjin (kami of thunder). [Kami means God]
After Sugawara no Michizane's death for being betrayed and framed, lightning struck the palace of the emperor, killing and injuring many of the powerful people involved in his banishment, and Sugawara no Michizane was enshrined in the Tenmangū (Shinto shrines) as the Tenjin.
So, what if Gojo can manipulate Lightning & Thunder as his descendant?
Atlist the atmospheric Lightning & Thunder?
You know Sugawara no Michizane is one of the three vengeful spirits in JJK and ancestor of Gojo Clan & Okkotsu Family.
Fire vs Lightning, two elements which together create Plasma, a fourth state of matter which is beyond our common sense.
Like in JJK it's said, Common Sense Doesn’t apply for the strongest.
What are your thoughts?

I lost most hope that JJK would have a proper conclusion the moment the 5 chapters announcement was made. I could see that it was headed towards a rushed & bad ending (Bl3ach all over again)... I still held onto a bit of hope, but I no longer felt as delulu. The theories of everyone dying & reincarnating to reunite in a happier future were better than this. I'd prefer my own version of that to this. Everyone getting stuck in the Merger similar to the Infinite Tsukuyomi in Naruto, & Gojo waking up & figuring out how to break them all out, would've been better than this.
This ending is just pure bad. Too many plot holes & nonsense. Everything was made pointless. Yuta taking over Gojo's body? Nobara's Resonance on Sukuna's finger? Megumi didn't have any character development; he basically did nothing despite the latent strength & Buddhist lore of his CT & DE? No one got mourned (even Tsumiki being the only one with a grave). Most of the chapter is just pure filler.
Absolute disrespect on Gojo. He really is Gege's cash cow. No one acknowledged his sacrifice. Disgusting. So OOC. Why did Gege not show the reactions of Yuta, Yuuji, Megumi, Utahime & Shoko in particular?
The only interesting part was Sukuna's sudden afterlife scene. But Gege did another lore drop (who is that shrine maiden? Michizane's shrine maiden? Sukuna's mother? Utahime's ancestor?).
This Tweet sums up most issues with this ending. 😒
To add my own 2 cents, any potential Utahime had as a shrine maiden went down the drain. So much potential lore that went unexplored. We didn't even get a single flashback with her & Gojo. She was the ONLY one who didn't get one out of their Hollow Purple team. Why? Would it have come off as too romantic? Did Gege's editors not allow it?
I don't wanna make this any longer, but the ending is just so ludicrous that I can't take it seriously. Gonna keep living in GojoHime Delulu Land. The only things to look forward to now in this series are the animation of the 200% Hollow Purple & Black T-shirt Gojo fighting. 😤

Just a thought!
So sitting here wondering how Kenjaku even got involved with Jin and everything.
Like, either Kenjaku just so happen to be interested in Kaori because of her technique and was lucky enough she was Jin's partner.
Or Kenjaku could have been tracking Sukuna's twin's reincarnation down, found Jin and decided to take over Kaori's body to pose as his spouse and was lucky enough she also possessed a technique.
I'll be honest, that second one confuses me a little because how do you track a damn soul down? What I can see is Kenjaku seeing Jin one day and realized how similar he looks like Sukuna and thought "those genes could work". (It would be so funny if Kenjaku actually had no clue who Jin really was and decided he was perfect because of how he looked.)
Now those are the only two scenarios I came up with but then I thought back to that first one.
What if Kenjaku's target wasn't Jin, but Kaori first?
Hear me out!
She had a technique Kenjaku could use, right? Seen it been used twice in the story. Faking the Prison Realm dropping to get Mahito and the others moving away so Kenjaku could go on to do whatever and fighting against Choso and Yuki .
It's a useful technique.
Just like Geto's! Kenjaku didn't just take over Geto's body because he was Gojo's (who Kenjaku wanted to seal away) closest person. He just so happen to be close to Gojo, but Kenjaku really wanted that Curse Manipulation.
(Here's the thing, it's not like Kenjaku could have actually made Geto and Gojo get that close now. That they did on their own. Kenjaku got lucky with that.)
What if that was the case for Kaori? Kenjaku was watching her this whole time because of her Anti-Gravity technique and it just so happen that she was to be Jin's partner?
(Kenjaku is a calculating, manipulative individual, but sometimes, again, it does feel like Kenjaku is just lucky at times.)
Better yet... this is going to sound crazy... but what if she happen to be related, at least, distantly to Kenjaku's previous vessels?
Just what I think, but given Kenjaku's history with the Gojo family, I doubt that's the only family Kenjaku kept tabs on. What if this vessel here...
... had been Kaori's ancestor? What if this vessel was a Kamo? Or someone who is a ancestor to both the Kamo family and whatever other family Kaori came from?
I bet you're thinking "Well, Kaori doesn't have Blood Manipulation".
Yes, but even being in the same family there will be different techniques.
In the Zenin family, Megumi has a different technique from Mai, Naobito, Naoya and other family members.
Gojo and Yuta are distantly related and they have different techniques.
So it's not really a far fetched idea. Have you seen Yuji's family tree?!
What I'm pretty much saying is that what if Kenjaku was keeping tabs on Kaori and her family this whole time? Possessing whatever member's body that seemed useful? Then Kaori came around and Kenjaku already planned to possess her body because of her technique but was lucky enough that she was Jin's wife?
Thinking about it, we know Sukuna figured out that Yuji's father is his twin reincarnated but... was it ever really explicitly stated Kenjaku knew?
Again, what if Kenjaku was just lucky enough that Kaori was Jin's wife but the original plan was to possess her body for her technique?
We don't know anything about the original Kaori, but I bet she has an interesting past. A past that was interesting enough to catch Kenjaku's eye. Whether it be who she is related to or just who she was as a person.
#i lowkey want to write a fic about it#she's like... rika for me#something about rika before she died was rather... strange#kaori comes off as strange and personally i am here for it#i know some people will disagree but what is the most interesting about jin is his wife#and i don't mean kenjaku i mean kaori#like when a character has little revealed about them the gears get to turning and I'm like 'i need to know more'#it's something some of my faves share#just kiya's thoughts#jjk#jujutsu kaisen#jjk 187#jjk spoilers#jjk manga spoilers#itadori kaori#kaori itadori#kenjaku#kenjaku jjk#itadori jin#jin itadori#geto suguru#suguru geto#gojo satoru#satoru gojo

~spoilers below~
Okay so the Heian Period that Sukuna lived lasted from 794 to 1185. Getting rid of the time after 1018 because that no longer qualifies as 1000 years ago and I’m petty like that means that the time when he lived at some point between 800 and 1018, so probably ninth or tenth century.
That still leaves two hundred years of time for him to have lived, and this is under the assumption that he even lived a human lifespan, which he absolutely might not have considering he had four arms for some unexplained reason (seriously he was a human being before dying right? I didn’t imagine that?).
The Fujiwara family was clearly important, though it’s hard to say whether that’s a new, sorcerer thing made up by Gege Akutami or if it’s actually meant to represent the Fujiwara clan of actual Heian Period Japan. Honestly it could be either but I’m fairly certain it is meant to be the same because otherwise that’s just confusing and I choose to believe this universe makes sense on some level for my own sanity.
We know the Fujiwara clan battled with Sukuna in some way because in chapter 219 in that flashback with Yorozu the gossiping people said that he defeated two major elite warriors of that clan’s northern forces, the one that Uro led and the one that Yorozu defeated and later got “recognized” and moved to the capital for.
Now I did some basic googling and the Fujiwara clan was founded in the year 668, but the Northern Fujiwara were founded in 1087 and disbanded in 1189, which completely discredits what I said in the first paragraph. Great going, me.
Sukuna is well established at this point, meaning he’s been doing… whatever conquering evil curse users do, for a while. Unfortunately we can’t use his appearance to learn literally anything because again he has four arms so he very well might not age.
Anyway in keeping with the Heian period and the founding year of the Northern Fujiwara he had to have been active between 1087 and 1185, which is just under a full century of wiggle room for him to do all his evil Sukuna things.
I don’t know if there’s any other evidence that could help narrow things down because this is a spur-of-the-moment, research rabbit hole type thing I decided to document on tumblr as I went along for no particular reason, but other individuals I know for a fact were alive at this point were Kenjaku, who Sukuna clearly knew; Tengen, who Kenjaku clearly knew; Uro, who led the elite force Sukuna destroyed; Yorozu, who was obsessed with and wanted to marry him; and Uraume, who served him.
Tengen and Kenjaku could very well be older than him, but Yorozu and Uro definitely are not, as they were mortal when they died. Uraume could go either way.
I did some other rabbit hole research and found that the Gojo clan was an actual clan that split off from the Sugawara clan, which was founded by Sugawara no Michizane, who Gojo says is the ancestor of him and Yuta.
If we assume that this is meant to be the Gojo clan of jujutsu kaisen, which isn’t an assumption I’m quite as comfortable making as other assumptions I’ve made here, it was founded some point in the 13th century, though I can’t really find the correct date. This is after the Heian period, despite the Gojo’s saying they were well established during that time.
But regardless of this, they could have existed in some hidden form within the Sugawara clan beforehand, and only became official during that time. After all, that tentative date is public, and I can think of several reasons why curse-wielding sorcerers would want to keep certain things about their family history private from the general public.
This works with what Tengen said about the Six Eyes, Star Plasma Vessel, and Kenjaku being intertwined in fate. Even if my assumptions about the Gojo clan are not correct, the Six Eyes probably predated the Gojo Clan in some form anyway.
Anyway there wasn’t a point to any of this, I’m just bored and rambling. If anybody else has anything more specific about the time period or just wants to talk about jjk worldbuilding and background please do I love headcanons and fleshing out already established worlds.

I want to make a list of my JJK theories and opinions so we got (part 1 bc I know I'll have / remember more later).
-let gege cook, everyone will be fine, chill tf out (I have rambled about this in other posts so I'll just leave it at that here)
-Toji and Geto's worm is like banana fish (the drug from banana fish that makes someone delusional, easily suggestible, and violent until they self destruct. Geto lasted a lot longer than Toji under its influence bc he had his rituals of meditations, affirmations, and strong ethics. His cursed energy would have also fed the worm, though it had been trained to feed off of the soul when it was with toji). It eats away at their souls/BRAIN so Kenjaku can get into a new skull will little resistance. Remember when Geto was unconscious and Toji said the thing about monkeys? Then Geto kept repeating that kind of thing (but he never rly acted like he believed that. He was just trying to keep his daughters and innocent youth safe from becoming skapegoats like Rika was. He saw that the cult and the village would repeat their cycles and more would be hurt in the future. He couldn't redeem those adults so he killed them.) I go into this theory a good bit in my longest/first jjk fanfic, and I AM DYING for gege to confirm this. I also ofc think that Kenjaku set up the worm and Toji to find each other. Maybe by throwing it into the zenin curse pit.
-kenjaku hit Rika with his car, or at least manipulated someone else into doing it (which seems to be the theme here, the way he made geto and yuta fight, for example. It's suspicious that Yuta and Yuuji were both from Sendai. I'm sure that he was keeping an eye on them both. We see nanako and mimiko at yuuji's school in that one manga panel in the beginning.
-the prison realm can be used for time travel (since Gojo first got sealed I was expecting him to break out. And then I was expecting him to be so understimulated in there that he'd figure out how to warp time. Dude can already warp space, what's the difference?) and Hakari even suggested using the prison realm for time travel so EVERYTHING'S GOING TO BE FINE they just have to go as far as they can without using it first so they can learn what to do the next time, yeah? I also had a dream about this and Gojo told me that Sukuna didn't feel the time loop, but the rest of us knew it was our second time (at least) going back and trying to defeat him. Which doesn't mean that I'm right but it was nice ok 😭
Theories that have been proven right or wrong by now
-I've been saying from the beginning that Yuuji and Sukuna share a common ancestor and that's why he can be a vessel. I was right!! But I didn't know he was also born with a fingie
-sukuna has six eyes (this has since been disproven but I used to think so)
-the way that RCT works between two people
CHAPTER 261 SPOILERS ON THIS NEXT ONE but I hope ur caught up by now.
-yuta should use as many techniques as possible in Gojo's body bc when Gojo returns to it, then he will be able to learn them as well. Kenjaku was able to retain techniques from his previous bodies, so even if all he transfers is the copy technique, that's fkn useful too.
-there is no chemistry between Yuki and Choso. That concept feels fucking forced and gives me the ick so hard.
-yuki is a terrible influence. She has good intentions, but she isn't present enough to be helpful - showing up in shibuya after Mahito was absorbed, for example. Not keeping in touch with the sorcerers who were involved in that. Not to mention the shit with Geto. She started the whole "what kind of woman is your type" thing and it's her fault that todo beats people nearly to death for giving an answer that doesn't match his own stupid taste (it took several watches for me to forgive todo for beating up megumi tbh)
-todo is also Kenjaku's son, and possibly Yuki - tho yuki is more vibes than evidence. All of Kenjaku's confirmed kids have a strong resolve, and false memories with Yuuji. But I think that kenjaku, in a male body, would be a total slut. His motivation for anything is that maybe it'll be interesting, or funny, he's just here for a good time. I think that he wouldn't even know how many kids he has, and that by having an unknown number possibly out there, it would bring up unexpected sorcerers. The frame where kenjaku asks why don't you heal yourself and yuki says I don't want to... That feels confirmed for me but I know it isn't solid evidence.
-I think kenjaku set up yuki to meet todo bc that feels too sus as well but I forget my logic on that one lmaoooo everything is their fault tho

Your new chapter is ruining me i love it 10/10 no notes I really really hope we get yuta having to sit within the vicinity of the zenin clan and just be like yeahhhhh i dont want to kill you while radiating the most murderous vibes possible and thinking deeply about murdering them. Like im so normal o just want you and your bloodline and your ancestors all dead.
It also does kill me how much hes like checking himself after the fact but god his impulses extending to questioning gojo again and again and stopping his cursed energy id just love to see gojos mind of hmmmm maybe this is a minor (major) problem…..
Naoya: does it feel kind of murder-y to you
Yuuta: *eye twitching*
Gojo’s fascinated by all this. Not even he saw this coming. He’s been formulating in his mind how to introduce Megumi to his senpais for MONTHS without it turning into another Kamo Noritoshi and he did not fucking expect “they collectively adopt him as their flour sack baby and Yuuta especially becomes violently attached to him.” He is okay with this

Who is Sugawara Michizane?
If i remember correctly, jjk 0 seems to be the only mention of sugawara michizane. I checked the wiki and apparently it says michizane is a ‘vengeful spirit’. And since he’s the ancestor of op sorcerers like gojo & yuta, he doesnt seem so integral to the plot for someone so strong.
A thought crossed my mind that Sugawara Michizane might be Sukuna’s human name. I didnt even know michizane existed until i looked at gojo’s profile, so perhaps akutami is building up to a big boom surprise like sukuwara ryoumezane.
What do you think? I wanted to post this on r/jujutsukaisen but i have exactly no karma 🥲

Since Mahoraga is a topic in the anti-Megumi agenda once again...
I'm probably on the minority thinking this but given Gege's ability to manipulate his readers to see only what he wants us to see, I think Mahoraga gaining such focus and hype is just one big distraction to divert our attention away from what the 10S is really capable of.
I've always been on the belief that the shadows is what makes this technique special and that the shikigamis are more or less a bonus. Either that or the shikigamis are manifestations of the user's inner shadow but then again, the fact that they're a fixed bunch it kinda takes away from the user's individuality. Unless Gege is trying to say that all the users of inherited techniques are in some way related by fate. Perhaps they are a reincarnation?
On the topic of reincarnation, the Yashuki Nyorai reincarnation theory about Megumi is very interesting (whether or not he truly is one). I don't think Gege chose to reference this deity on a whim given how he wrote Gojo and Sukuna who both had references from god-like figures as well. So I wonder what this is about? Given that Yakushi Nyorai is related to healing, it's curious why Megumi, who is not known for his rct or insane healing unlike Gojo/Yuta/Hakari, is the one with this kind of inspiration.
One of my guess is that perhaps the Zenins were one of Yakushi Nyorai's most devote followers and that their ancestor was gifted with the 10S in return. Or that their ancestor is a reincarnation of Yakushi Nyorai himself. Anyways, all these are really interesting stuff that I hope Gege addresses in the future (I need a background on the history of the 3 clans in general 😭). And it's really interesting how much divine references is tied to the 10S in general. Here's to hoping it leads somewhere.
omg thanks for the Megumi love anon 😭.
I MISS MEGUMI OMG.
Your ask really made me miss him. Anyways, yes. I've always thought of his shikigami as expressions of his personality and emotional state.
This could explain why Sukuna's Shikigami are stylistically different than Megumi's.
I looked into that deity you told me about and I love the little I read about it. I wonder how heavily Gege will lean on the psychological aspect of 10s but Depth Psych has an understanding that a wounded healer heals others. And I can mental gymnastic something about the shadow being the seat of creative energy and giving us access into the unconscious, where healing can be found.
Something something.
So yeah. Of course I loved this. THANK YOU FOR SHARING!
Anon. We stay STRONG!
#ask the mental gymnastics anime girl#not Gege edging Megumi fans#see this is why i never remember the hashtag for Megumi#i have too many hashtags for Megumi#and i never remember any of them

I actually find funny how Gojo asks Geto, "You're gonna kill all the non-sorcerers and create a world with sorcerers only?" That's the "Aliens and America" trope.
Cause, as long as I remember, thanks to Tengen's barrier, about 99% of all sorcerers are in modern Japan. According to manga's map, there should be no sorcerers on occupied by russia Chishima and Karafuto territories, which is also funny: geopolitics influence the number of sorcerers. Although everyone behaves like it shouldn't.
I think what Gege tried to say by that American military arc is that if they tried to occupy Japan and "liberate them from evil spirits"... would Tengen's barrier update? XD How would it change, and by what logic? Does Tengen sit in her barrier reading newspapers and like, "Oh shit, non-sorcerers occupied Chishima and Karafuto, update the data!!!"
I don't believe it should work like this. Why? The answer is imperialism. Imperialism for countries is like Candida albicans for humans: it's present in everyone in small quantities, but if you neglect your health and let it multiply - not only will you ruin the mood of those around you, but you will also be in danger of death.
Every country is this or that way imperialistic, and Japan, as former empire, should be thrice as such. And it actually is. They draw Chishima and Karafuto as occupied territories on school maps nowadays. I highly doubt a state that draws its territories as occupied in school textbooks would remove Tengen's barrier from them. Unless a higher-up Tengen has higher prorussian higher-ups than her.
If Geto studied history a little better, he would know that genocide never ends good for those who genocide. Hitler killed around 30 million people - and it's about 2-3% of the world population. It's like modern Texas. Did Hitler achieve his goal? No. Did Hitler make himself a non-human who is perceived even worse than Satan? Yes.
Maximum any genocider can reach is to clean a certain territory AND fill it with someone else. Look at russia and Ukraine. Look at russia and Belarus. Look at Azerbaijan and Armenia. Look at Mongolian empire, Roman empire, Conquistadors, etc, etc.
Did Geto want to methodically, with understanding what he wants to reach, kill all non-sorcerers? As far as it seems, no. Because of Tengen's words about Japan being the main curse energy producing factory, it's not very clear to me whether Geto wanted to kill all non-sorcerers in Japan's borders or in the whole world. In the whole world, it's just NOT POSSIBLE to do. Not even empires with billions of people were able to do that. A one person just can't do it without destroying the planet completely - and it wasn't Geto's goal to destroy the planet completely.
I suppose he wanted to kill all the non-sorcerers in Japan at first. But once again, there are Chishima and Karafuto (status unknown), and there are AXILLARY MANAGERS who are non-sorcerers who can control their cursed energy. Let's assume that Geto wanted to clear Japan's territory at first - whom was he gonna fill it with? As Belaruthians say, Nature abhors the void. Whom was he gonna fill the world with if LOTS OF SORCERERS come from NON-SORCERERS FAMILIES, like Haibara Yu, like Ijichi Kiyotaka, like Nanami Kento, like Yuta Okkotsu who didn't know he had a far sorcerer ancestor.
Yuki Tsukumo said that killing all non-sorcerers is a decent plan, the easiest way to create a world without curses. Yuki Tsukumo lied to Geto Suguru, and I still don't understand why, considering she also mentioned she's chasing the second option - make all of humanity control their cursed energy - which is actually the fastest and easiest way, with many possible solutions: from inventing a some kind of "vaccine" or something to simply widespread by government programs to teach the population how to deal with curses. Or actually all of that. If you see that the sorcerers are not coping with their task, well, involve the average people. It's like with a drowning person. If you know that a child is drowning, you won’t go looking for him alone across the sea. You ask all the people on the beach to join hands and walk along the shoreline a few meters into the sea.
However, as we can see, Japanese government, including sorcerers higher-ups, didn't give a single fuck about less and less sorcerers being able to do their job and remain alive and healthy. Why? Because the JJK Japanese government was a financed marionette by someone who wanted Japan to collapse. I would bet on Kenjaku and China. Otherwise, I have no idea what that chapter was with Kenjaku speaking Chinese for. Yuki Tsukumo, as someone who cared, must have noticed that. Maybe she tried to involve herself in politics, by "fucking around taking trips overseas", maybe she even played political games with Kenjaku. But she was unguarded, and she relied too much on "impotent UN" Tengen, for which she payed.
Yuki lied to Geto, or rather shifted his focus, and it was very easy to do because he was 1)clearly traumatized teen, with vulnerable mental state, 2)on the verge of the mental illness, 3)most likely already with hidden xenophobic beliefs. What for? I suppose the goal was to separate him and Gojo, considering that highlighting on "the three of us special grades" - Yuki is not dumb, and she must have guessed that Geto would have questioned his own special gradeness after Toji incident:
The whole conversation Yuki&Geto is such an obvious taking "on a dare". Unfortunately, people are not very good at expressing why they find Yuki suspicious, which ends in demonising Yuki Tsukumo. I suppose those people who know how it is - to be vulnerable mentally - dislike her the most.
Did Yuki cause Geto's fall? Nah, I think people exaggerate her role in Geto's character. Geto would have fallen anyway, she just made it happen faster, for her own unclear motives.
A world without non-sorcerers simply can not exist, just like the russian empire can not exist without Ukrainians and all the other people they genocided because it was built on them. They have been killing so many people with such pleasure that most of russia's territory is now simply empty and is about to be partitioned and consumed by countries that have overpopulation because the Nature abhors the void.
I love how Gege highlights the well-known drama of fighting a villain by dynamic action, awesome artstyle, some civil stuff and "WOW SUKUNA VS GOJO SATORU" while hiding the fact they are technically going through war, through partitioning of JJK Japan by other states, which fight for resources like that Gojo in a box, and maybe something more. JJK Japan is, in fact, alternative universe Ukraine, which was occupied by russia for 3 days. That's why JJK manga is very important to me. Gege doesn't use straightforward language, and that's why people are so confused and say, "Gege is so dumb, why would he include American military?" - Gege is actually very smart. He just believed more people would be interested in the background, I guess. Maybe that's why he gave up and decided to finish this manga asap with EPIC FIGHTS only.
P.S. Anticipating questions like, "JJK China would not fight for JJK Japan, JJK Japan is too small" - my brother in Ra, China fights for fucking Taiwan, have you ever seen the size of Taiwan?

hiiii umm someone has probably already pointed this out but. uraume is almost definitely a gojo? and very possibly the progenitor of the entire gojo clan. putting the detailed analysis under the cut because this is a long ass post and very slightly spoiler-y for anime onlys
not a very convincing point on its own, but worth pointing out the obvious visual similarities between them. there are lots of other characters with light hair OR eyes but i can't think of any with both. also they're the only ones with pure white hair, even inumaki's is more of an ashy blond color.
but! into the more substantial stuff
according to the official fanbook, uraume and sukuna met 1,000 years ago, around the end of the heian period. in real world history, this was a relatively peaceful time during which japan began developing its own literary/political/intellectual cultures, thus becoming less reliant on china. in jjk, it's referred to as the golden age of sorcerers.
the relevant bit here being that the threat posed by sukuna was enough to draw the world of sorcerers together and push them to their limits.
here's where it gets interesting:
this common ancestor, sugawara no-michizane, was a real historical figure, a poet and politician who earned the support of the current emperor of japan, emperor uda, after lending the emperor his support in a political conflict with another noble family, the fujiwaras.
i mention them by name because in the culling games arc, uro calls yuta a fujiwara, not a sugawara--here's some interesting analysis for the curious. the relevant bit here is that while we don't know of any fujiwaras in the contemporary period, apart from maybe yuta, they were at some point an influential family of sorcerers in the jjk-verse. put a pin in that.
sugawara fell from favor after uda abdicated. eventually the fujiwara clan accused him of supporting the wrong candidate as successor to the emperor's throne, and he and his entire family were banished. sugawara died in exile.
a series of natural disasters led to the belief that sugawara's spirit was attempting to avenge its wrongful death. this is probably why maki refers to sugawara as "one of the three greatest japanese vengeful spirits." the real sugawara is now recognized as a benign deity in the shinto religion but it appears that this conversion never happened in jjk's alternate history, or that it isn't something the sorcerers recognize as fact.
sugawara was very fond of plum trees, and just before his exile, wrote a poem as farewell to his favorite, in his garden in kyoto:
When the east wind blows, flourish in full bloom, you plum blossoms! Even though you lose your master don't be oblivious to spring.
in addition, the sugawara clan's crest is the backside of a plum blossom.
in japanese, ura means behind, or back/other side. ume is plum.
there's a good breakdown of the name here which suggests that ura may symbolize a reversal of the values represented by plums in japanese culture (nobility, loyalty) or a betrayal of the sugawaras--possibly referring to uraume's choice to take sukuna's side.
another possibility that i'd like to raise is that uraume is either sugawara no-michizane himself, or a descendant of him. in this case the backside of the plum could represent exile--ie, sugawara's beloved plum tree seen from "behind," as he left his home. interesting in this case that uraume has a pinkish, almost plum colored patch on the back of their head. again--a beloved family symbol as something that is behind them.
their family's betrayal by the fujiwaras could have been the motive for their loyalty to sukuna, and perhaps a hatred of sorcerers' society in general (an interesting parallel to gojo satoru, no?)
thus: rejecting sugawara (a recognized sorcerer name) in favor of uraume (both a way of honoring their own family--the plum--and rejecting the culture it belonged to--the reversal). the "betrayal of nobility" interpretation of their name takes on a double meaning if this is the case.
anyway this may all be a bit of a stretch but i do think it would mesh really well with the themes gege sensei's established re: traditionalism, bloodlines, etc. really curious to see what they do with uraume and sukuna going forward.
#sorry researching this sukuna/ura fic sent me down a rabbit hole#and i had to get my thoughts out lol#jjk#uraume#sukuna#sukuna ryomen#gojo#gojo satoru#ronan talks

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 261 - The decisive battle in the uninhabited, demon-infested Shinjuku (33)
So is Gojo back or not, that's going to be interesting or an insane troll from Gege
OooOOOO Yuji is really going after his life right here and there
because of his big brooooo
HE'S THERE
SOOOOO PRETTY
OH MY GOD, I won't be able to think straight this chapter it seems
It's NOT HIM NOOOOOOOOO
YUTA WTF
WTF
I am so confused
my feelings are, my head is not
Okay so the 6 eyes aren't a cursed techniques but some kind of body trait inherited among the Gojo clan
Maki is bringing up some interesting point, what will happen to Yuta ? He will die right ? And then one of the last player will die but that way he can use 6 eyes
Yep it's fucked up
Thanks Maki and Toge
you care about Yuta and he does too but he also want to protect people and there might only be one way to do that
and that's also why you're probably able to do it, you need to be aware that you can stop and it's not a good deed to do. It'll end after Sukuna's fight
Gojo had to do fucked up shit indeed, but killing his ex is not on the same level.
And he had to do level-headed decisions too fighting curses or people like he did in Shibuya
well
I don't know
Shoko is actually smoking weed and so high she didn't register anything
OH FINALLY SOME NEW INFO
I'd like to know more about the Gojancestor
or maybe two ancestors/twins that were rivals or enemies ?
Oh so a main line/second line kind of clan thingy ?
Panda, you didn't do much lately
What gory thingy ? The old fucks that got killed by Kenjaku ?
BABY
stop hurting yourself over this, it's perfectly normal to not kill your friend lover without remorse when he only did one fucked up thing
WTF
Is that Higuruma ???
Oh of course it's Yuta, well fuck, he really didn't have a choice there
I'm sad
Please Yuta, FUCK HIM UP
was he the last player alive ? No there is still Hakari, Megumi and Yuji
I don't remember the conditions for the big japan curse to be born
Well I'm really sad Gojo didn't come back and Yuta is probably doomed too.

Manga With Me: JJK Crackpot Theories (But Maybe Not) Rapid Fire Edition
I have had a lot of thoughts lately without any time to properly articulate them so let’s start the new year off with a shotgun blast of my least founded hot takes because, why not? Some of them might have some context clues but others might just be ideas I know Ill never use for fanfics so, now, we all have to suffer. Enjoy my “What Ifs” and weigh in with your own. 👇🏾
⚠️ Spoiler warning: as these are rapid fire takes, covers info through current chapter of 209 and JJK0.
Nobara isn’t dead, Megumi was just paying Yuji back with his vagueness.
I just think it would be such an unhinged turn of events for Nobara to be largely okay but Megumi played the long game because how dare Yuji go along with Gojo’s half baked plan and force him to feel things for a sustained period of time?? Like, no real benefit to the plot in concealing her status except as a prank. I feel like Akutami would totally pull something like that too just for the sake of trolling. But if she came back as a critical plot point!? Even better, she deserved more shine. We also haven't seen a satisfying end to Nobara's need to reunite with Saori so I won't confirm her death until it's conveyed explicitly.
We haven't seen the best side of Miwa
I maintain the Akutami has been pretty good about tying in even the slightest of details (okay bit of dickriding here, I know). I've written about the fact that Miwa may not have such humble origins but I believe the last time we saw Miwa sets her up for a big awakening as well. The Tokyo and Kyoto schools differ in many ways as the latter tends to toe the more traditional line in agreement with the reigning jujutsu elders. Yaga, an indicator of the Tokyo school's tendency toward progressiveness, was considered odd with his cursed puppets and this eccentricity is foundational to those who work and attend the Tokyo school.
During Yuta's introduction, Maki makes it a point to mention that the weak always gather in packs, sorcerers and curses. We see countless times that Kyoto school executes as a pack, whether that is during the Goodwill Event or even when going after Kenjaku!Geto. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Gojo presses his students to go on missions appropriate for sorcerers of his caliber unsupervised. Where the elders and Kyoto seem to be intent on pacification and predictable power scaling, Tokyo is home to those the established order would consider abominations and would rather see gone. Those too weird (Yuji, Panda, Maki, the third years, I believe even Inumaki is a bit of an outcast) or those too powerful to control (Gojo, Yuta). So, the last time we saw little old Miwa... why was she alone? Because her powered up debut is loading. ✨
Megumi will be the one to exorcise Sukuna.
This is perhaps the rawest of theories considering. But Megumi’s technique requires him to summon and effectively exorcise a different animal curse in order to successfully wield it. We saw the eldritch horror he summoned as a final “fuck you” before Sukuna intervened and saved him (seriously, what was that?). So what if Megumi, in the end has the power to exorcise and wield Sukuna (a la Rika to Yuta)? Like... is this the best case scenario to save our sunshine boy, Yuji? This theory is held together by silly string but I am going to stake it on the fact that we were given the hopeless backstory of Gojo and Geto as how things had gone wrong. As the reader, should we not expect that that new iteration of this dynamic would prove to be more victorious? I'm just holding out hope. *weeps in Itafushi*
Megumi is an integral piece of the future of jujutsu and emotional damage is in the forecast
In many ways, this is already apparent. Gojo, following Toji's last directive, plucked Megumi and Tsumiki from their lives alone knowing the value of Megumi's technique and birthright. In cultivating Megumi's talent, we find out that centuries ago their ancestors were powerful enough to fight one another and we already know Gojo is OP. Megumi, unsure of himself and still developing will be a force to be reckoned with. We've seen it in glimpses already. This potential is something that Sukuna also covets which speaks volumes. We've seen with Gojo’s origin story (and Spider-Man) that great power leads to great responsibility. End game, I believe Megumi will be tasked with exorcising or killing Yuji out of necessity. But, if things in the box go horrendously wrong, I also think he'll be responsible for putting Gojo down. Hell, it might simply come down to a painful choice between Yuji and Gojo and we’ve already seen that Megumi trends toward Yuji’s preservation. I won’t say current events put a decision between Yuji or Tsumiki but 👀
Worse, I fear there will be a reckoning when he realizes he didn't have the full story behind what went down between Gojo and Toji. Either way, Gojo has cast Megumi as his equal and so has Akutami. Historically, this has ended tragically and Gojo's heart would simply be torn asunder to be undone by his own beloved protege.
Toji isn’t actually as much of a piece of shit.
This isn’t actually a plot development. I think we, as the readers, are meant to contextualize a few things to comprehend what may come to light about him. 1. He named Megumi “blessing” which leads me to believe that, while he was demonstrably awful, Megumi’s birth could have been a turning point. Tbh I think something happened to Megumi’s mom (well before Toji met Tsumiki’s mom) which sent him back down the spiral of being a degenerate and ultimately selling off his kid. I wonder how much the elders may have had to do with her death. Whether those be the Zenin or Jujutsu elders is really up in the air. 2. Akutami, in interviews, implied that Gojo wasn’t really a monogamous person in that they couldn’t see him settling down with one woman. Mind you, they then slowly reveal the deeper connection to Geto which fills in some gaps to what I'm considering a deliberate misdirection. So I’m wondering if the implication about Toji being a broke ass bum, while valid, has additional context yet to be seen.
Yuji hasn't seen the last of Yuko Ozawa
Again, this is a raw ass theory considering, I can't even lie and call it half baked. But wouldn't it be crazy if Yuko makes it to the end fight, perhaps similarly motivated as Kurusu with some cursed entity within her seeking Sukuna's head but she'll retain an affinity toward Yuji or something? Like why introduce her and that precious history with Yuji if she's not going to boomerang back into the story? Even if all she'll be is sentimental cannon fodder (I'm looking at you Junpei).

Oh, sorry the Gojo x Yuuta request upset you. I usually try my best to read the rules before sending a request. Perhaps I was remiss in reading it. I admit Yuta is 17 years old at the present time of the manga and he is a student of Gojo-sensei. I don't care about it because they are 2D characters. I make a clear distinction between real life and 2D, and I respect that you can't accept this ship even though they are 2D characters. I want to say one thing: Gojo and Yuta are basically extremely distant relatives according to Gojo. To be precise, they share the same ancestor Sugawara Michizane (a person from the Heian period). That is about 1000 years ago. Even Gojo wouldn't know they had the same ancestor if he didn't investigate. I just disagree with some arguments (I've seen) that Gojo x Yuuta is a 'blood related' ship. Thank you for answering me so politely.
It’s no issue! But no matter how much you argue that they are just 2-D characters, it doesn’t validate pedophilia! Because it can still be harmful in the younger audience, no matter what adult x minor ships will never be accepted, real life or in a cartoon, because that’d be normalizing pedophilia. An example would be like romanticizing murder like Yandere characters and making them seem what they’re doing is okay, it’s a terrible thing to normalize and expose, our next generation could see that as completely normal and may even make that a real thing, so we try to avoid that. Even if that wasn’t the case,
I don’t wanna sound mean, but it’s just kinda weird that you’d wanna ship adult x minor, at least, that’s what I think, I’m sorry if this whole thing totally sounded backhanded that wasn’t my intention, I just wish to let you know that even if you have a heavy belief that nothing is wrong with it, many, many other people do disagree and they can harass you, and I wish that upon no one (Unless you’re a real life predator), so I just wanna let you know that I’d try to prevent from publicizing things like this. But, I appreciate the apology! And I pray you have a great day 👍🏾

Wait, no, it does raise eyebrows of how quick people were like "He clapped some cheeks" and just bypass the fact Yuta became head of a family he is distantly related to.
Like, no one has questions as to why?! It makes sense they would appoint someone else as head of the family after Satoru's death without having the Six Eyes and/or Limitless because of the rarity of said techniques. So they wouldn't wait around for someone to be born with said techniques.
However, that raises the question of again why Yuta in particular? So did someone tell the family about said relation? If so, who did because the only people who we know were aware is Yuta, Satoru himself, Ijichi who Satoru had even dig into his background for said information, Maki, Toge and Panda.
Other than that, did anybody else actually know? Did Yuta himself go the Gojo family and was like "Uh, hey, uh... yeah so technically we're distantly related because we share an ancestor"?
If he had been the one to tell them that, why? Was it because he harbored some guilt about what happened with Satoru and what he had to do when Satoru died?
And if anybody did tell the Gojo clan, I feel like they wouldn't even second guess it because Yuta, after the events of the story, is the only still living registered Special Grade and it also so young. Still gives them time to prepare him as the head of the family with the bonus of not even having to train him because Yuta is already skilled.
Given the reputation of the sorcerer families, I wouldn't put pass them so snatch Yuta up to keep up their status.
So is that not concerning for anybody?
Keep in mind that Satoru had a lot weighed on him. Yuta may have had to go through the same thing.
The pros I can see coming out from this is that Yuta has that power to make changes the way Satoru wanted to for others.
Other than that, I can't find myself too be happy at all.
#kenjaku said yuta could never be satoru and then that shit went left#hopefully yuta did have easier than satoru did but still has me sad#'he became head of the big family! he stay winning!' no... that's not the win you think it is buddy#did you not read the manga?#'he clapped maki!' first you don't know that for real#second so you're congratulating him (weird behavior) but not maki? where's the energy for maki?#oh right because the girl and she's supposed to be the wife right?#i hope yuta had kids through scientific experimentation#just kiya's thoughts#jjk#jujutsu kaisen#jjk spoilers#jjk manga spoilers#jjk epilogue#okkotsu yuta#yuta okkotsu#yuuta okkotsu#okkotsu yuuta

The kids are saying that the most recent chapter of JJK is comparable to Naruto's final arc and they are fucking delusional.
Guys I don't think you understand just how fucking bullshit the Naruto reveal was. The Kaguya shit came completely outta left field. We got a whole new antagonist with no actual fucking connection or interesting dynamic with the main characters and we had to stomach that shit.
Imagine if Sukuna got randomly killed off by an actually alive all this time Reggie and it was revealed the true villain was Megumi's ancient ancestor from before Sukuna was even alive and that same ancestor is now possessing Megumi's body. That's how fucking crazy ya'll sound.
Yuta taking over Gojo was shocking but not outside the realm of possibility. We just didn't think they'd go that far. But why wouldn't they? This is literally the hero's only chance against Sukuna since Gojo died so they gotta throw fucking everything at the wall.

这次又滚去哪里了:春节篇
Happy to report that it is now 初十 and yet no major conflict had happened! Neither did anything bad happened during 除夕、初一、 初八。This is a triumph for all of us! An indicator that Past Lyns' effort and action had not been in vain!
... Phew. Not that I can rest on our laurels, of course. One should never mistake anything as permanent, hahaha!
Oh, I wore my first ever hanfu! Or at least, modernized hanfu...
初一
Yo, guys! We finished Ajin on this very day!!! Ain't it swell?!
Wait, maybe that's why I had that stupid dream—of opposing Sato by trying to drag Kei out of his retirement with Kou's help—this past Saturday night. I'm angry because I couldn't interact with Kei properly with my persuasion game before I woke up, but I don't really wanna admit to that... Also where is the yellow text color option, Tumblr? WHY ISN'T IT HERE WITH ME ANYWAY WHAT WAS IT AGAIN?
It was mad fun talking to friends while getting in a preparatory frenzy for the rest of the event. Okay, fine, one of them was just that useless horny JJK-harem sister.
The cost is missing that morning's Ānāpānasati practice. Shh! Don't bring it up too often around him! I don't want to see That Glare.
Went to the usual place. The Wat we've been going to since we were kids.
This hanfu is so wispy and not at all warm or stuffy.
Guys, I'm telling ya, we are soooo finding ways to incorporate this for this year's conventions. Probably some sort of mix-and-match in the end—that's how we always roll! A vest and a bolo tie? That puffy skirt? A combo that falls between being fashion-approved and "Only you will think this is good"...
"Fake Flowers and Me" is the best combo ever.
Background: you can see the entrance gate. Oh! The shrine for a pair of Thai ancestor spirits was blocked from view.
Foreground: Sister accidentally took a picture of me mocking Gojo Satoru's Murasaki technique.
This wat was originally fully Thai, but Chinese visitors and elements gradually cropped up (which is really no different from how it's like in Thailand). Compare the architectural difference between the shrines in Fig 1. and Fig 2. Both re within the same compound.
Fig 1. Background: The shrine at the back is for 观音 (Guanyin), hence the obviously Chinese architecture. However, a bit closer to me (but behind the trashcan) is 孙悟空 (the Monkey King). Not taken within the frame of the picture are the other three main characters in Journey to the West.
I was supposed to mirror the Monkey King by looking at the other direction, but it just looks like I was adjusting my sunbonnet...
Fig 2. Background: The one at the farthest back is the main shrine of the compound. Their main Gautama Buddha is housed there. But I'm old enough to remember their actual oldest resident statue, though—he is now housed in the shrine right next to me in the foreground.
----
Anyway, as per our New Year tradition, we went for archery. I mean, yea sure, we always come up with an excuse to shoot. But hey, I was wearing something that she imagined to be really cool with a bow. Was sure would look so swell!
But first!
Look at those magnificent eyebags! Premium grade. As immaculate as Yuta's! Truly my best features. Anyone who cannot see the beauty of these bags do not understand my appeal.
Er, why were my veins popping?
I looked so fucking swell!!! If I were 2 meters tall, I could be mistaken as the 8-foot tall Woman in a festive mood and a bow, right? Right?!
The music was annoying, but I shot pretty okay. Still had so many moments of shooting wide, though. I just can't seem to aim well. I always suck at the things I claim to enjoy, haha!
Also, the people working in that range thought I was "cosplaying" and asked me why I didn't celebrate Lunar New Year instead. I told him I was celebrating. This outfit is part of it!
And then another one came to ask how old I was. No one... believed me when I told them I'm 28. Apparently, these people had headcannoned me as "just 20 years old."
We really are in that liminal space when it comes to age. On the one hand, we're often one of the oldest in the bunch we're associating with. On the other hand, people mistake me for someone way younger, and sometimes, younger than my youngest sister even though I'm gonna be 30 soon.
Do I really ooze that much childish aura?
At least those people didn't think I was still in high school. Like that other time...
-------------------------------
初九
Went to the heart of the metropolis to check out that new elite mall for rich kids and tourists. But honestly, it was more of a romp in my favorite part of the city.
Went to an aesthetic bookstore; finally found a good old Chinese New Year staple: goddamn Fengshui books.
The MRT station sure looks like an airport, but many MRT stations look like this. Monorails had the oldest design—and are the slowest. LRT stations are the ones we're most familiar with; they are kinda like the most typical train stations with roofs.
Yea. Sis really went for a headful of hair redder than even Sukuna's. Throughout this week, she had been Makima, Ariel... and that Wendy's girl.
This shop really captured the demography the mall caters to. The most "affordable" food in this coffee shop is 25MYR, which upon payment gives you... a piece of toast.
Their fish n' chips cost around 150MYR! I've eaten decent fish n' chips for 15 MYR, bro. The dory fish served had gotta at least dated Timothy Chalamet for three days, otherwise I don't understand the price.
Looks like it's an "experience" though. I mean, look at Fig 2! It's so opulent inside.
Sis is sure that there is now a new way to brag among us Malaysians. "I went to ___ to buy some toast!"
There were several people wearing hanfu today, but most were women. A man looking this hella good in it though? Amazing.
I kinda wish I could make someone wear this so I can see how fucking handsome they must be! Hee hee hee.
It was quite a humid day, and Sister kept complaining about how hot she felt. And then she would comment on every single person who passed her by, rating how hot and stuffy their drip must rendered them. "Wow, a hype-beast kid? That thick hoodie? Mm-mm. 9/10, Stuffy As Fuck."
The difference between us is this. While looking at the central tree in the background:-
Lyn: Huh. Looks like someone can meditate under it.
Sis: Really? I was thinking someone could hang themself from it.
Lyn: Ooh! You are so right!!!
Sis:
------
Walking in the City
I was about to take a picture of the guy "pulling" his milk tea, but I failed.
Strange people in a glass container? Under this weather? With what seems to be lackluster air-conditioning?
Sister immediately rated all of them as 10/10, "That ain't their skirts; it's their melted skin."
Here's our own three-way intersection area.
Just the back view of today's drip. Was wearing that Sato Cap. Mixue's lemonade was really good.
Had a funny gait, Sister said. Also, "9/10; are you sure it doesn't feel like a sauna inside? You're also wearing a hat and a mask, dude. You're insane."
We also, by happenstance, encountered not one but two lion dance occasions! Can't upload the videos because Tumblr said "only one per post."
They were nice.
The food we had was nice.
I like rambling. I like to walk.
We had fun.
