THE STORM - Part four
Fandom: The Boys (Amazon prime tv series)
Pairing: Black Noir x Reader
A/N: Hey guys, so this is part four! I’ve planned the whole series out, and it’ll be around twenty to twenty five parts long! It’ll be quite the ride!
Disclaimer: I don’t own The Boys, only my OC characters and certain pieces of au plot.
Comments, reviews, constructive criticism, and other requests are always more than welcome!
Posting new chapters every Wednesday and Friday!
Dangerous games
The frazzled woman swung her cupboard open and reached for the wine glasses she had neatly tucked away for good occasions. Now, this was no celebration, but she was in desperate need of a glass of wine. Anything to calm her nerves, really.
She looked over at the big shadow in her living room. He stood straight as a rod, and she wondered what it would take for that composure to crack and show the nightmare beneath. His eyes traced the photos hanging across the wall. Most were taken while traveling, small memories and pieces of her framed and cherished. They always reminded her of the cities and rolling landscapes she’d seen. All the places she’d been, and what she’d learned from each one.
She cleared her throat. “You can sit,” she motioned towards the couch. He looked towards her, always contemplating her words before finally sitting down on the dark blue cushioning.
She moved over and sat on the plush chair a few feet away from him. The young woman thought it was an adequate distance, one that was cautious and would allow her a few seconds to get up and out of the room. It was still hard for her to wrap her head around it: Black Noir was in her house.
He watched her cross one leg over the other and pour the wine.
He wouldn’t take his glass, and she raised one eyebrow.
“Do you not like wine?”
He nodded his head. When she looked over at him, she could feel him peer into her soul, a gaze intense and maybe insane. Like a black skull charred by an explosion, his head piece was frightening and intriguing at the same time. She wondered about the man beneath and how many different methods he could use to finish her.
“This won’t do, give me a second,” she told him as she slipped out of her chair. She tried to ignore the shivers running down her spine as she turned her back to him and briefly left the room. She returned with a small black notebook and a pen.
“There. Do you want me to get you anything else?”
He simply watched her, sitting stiff on the couch, his big hands resting on his thighs. Finally, he moved his gaze to the notebook she’d left on the coffee table in front of him. She reminded him of a scared rabbit, her heart thumping fast, her eye watchful of his every move. And yet, she wasn’t succumbing to her fear. If he were a regular person, he wouldn’t notice her state of alert, or the uneasy look in her eyes. His thoughts went back to the small dagger she had pulled from her dress. Who needed to be so prepared for danger they’d hide a knife in their evening dress? Was she in trouble? Was someone hurting her? That couldn’t be the case with him watching over her nearly every minute of every day.
He chose to answer concisely. Mask
Her eyes skimmed the page, and she nodded, her cheeks turning a slight shade of crimson. Still, it would have been lost on a regular person. She would seem perfectly composed and at ease in front of anyone but him.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t think that through,” she explained
He nodded.
Cautious, she questioned, “Do you ever take it off in public?”
He tilted his head at her. Did she want him to? No
“Only at your place in the Tower?”
Yes
“That must be lonely,” she drew out. The woman focused on the liquid in her glass, letting it swirl from side to side. She lifted her eyes only when she heard a slight scribble on paper.
Yes
He sat back and stared at the paper lying in front of him, the heavy confession he’d left on its surface.
She looked at him in a slightly new light. Even though she stayed alert, she was beginning to paint a new picture of the dark form in her living room. Under all the black clothing, armor and tactical gear, he’s still a man, isn’t he? Was he here out of loneliness? Was he seeking companionship? If he trusted her, her job would become much easier.
She sighed, and the small action had him lift his eyes to hers, trying to discern her feelings towards him. He could sit still anywhere for hours; he’d had plenty of practice. But under her gaze, he felt restless, he felt out in the open. He had learned to thrive in the shadows, in hiding, and now he was exposed.
“You’ve been following me and leaving me these gifts, yes?” she questioned off.
He simply nodded.
She took a sip of her drink and placed it on the coffee table. Folding her arms over her chest she leaned back into the chair.
“Why?”
Black Noir sat still, calculating. How could he have her understand? The attachment he’d developed towards her wasn’t easy to grasp or communicate. And he wouldn’t speak. Her body language superficially communicated ease, but he knew better. He could almost see the thoughts run through her head. She’d leaned back into the couch on purpose. It was a strategy that let him think she’d let her guard down. Now, he wasn’t sure if she was just trying to derail him and keep up a façade of strength, or if it was meant to get him to open up to her. Either way, he didn’t question it.
Slowly, he wrote it out as simply as he could. You are like life, and under it, Light
She let her eyes skim the words multiple times before looking up. Oh, how wrong he was. She was a bomb waiting to explode, destruction looming on the horizon. She was not life, but more akin to death.
He waited for it to sink in. He wanted to just say it all, explain it away. But he waited, locked in his cage of silence.
The young woman was beyond bewildered. Did he actually like her? Why would he go through all of this, when he could easily torture the information out of her? It sounded childish to think, even more to voice out loud, but maybe he really was a secret admirer.
She went straight to the point. “So, you know everything about me?”
He tilted his head to the side, a gesture she was quickly becoming accustomed to.
Almost
She buried her face in her hands and rubbed her temples. She glanced up when she caught him adding a few words.
I want to know you
They were five simple words, and yet she felt they were charged with something more, a deeper meaning. She found herself thinking of all the ways he could kill her less and less.
They sat in silence for a few minutes as she processed it all.
Finally, she spoke. “Okay... okay, okay.”
She ran her fingers through her curls. What the fuck is going on, she thought over and over.
“All right, that’s fine, we can get to know each other,” she spoke tentatively. "Just give me some time to process this."
He gazed at her, straightening his form and nodding in understanding.
“Hmm, are you free to come over tomorrow? Eight o’clock?”
When he affirmed with his usual nod, she picked their glasses up and took them into the kitchen. Concealed by a separating wall, she swiftly drained his untouched glass as well.
“So, what’s your name?”
She returned to the living room with a series of planned out questions, only to find it empty. The large man had vanished.
“Are you here?” When she was met with silence, she let herself walk forward and slump across the couch.
Only the notebook on the table served as proof of their encounter. She reached for it and realized he’d added a smiley face before leaving. Pressing the heel of her hands into her eye sockets, she wondered how this would turn out. Would this work, or was she running down a dark and dangerous path?
She swiftly went and locked her doors. The pristine, tiny gift box Black Noir had left for her was still sitting on the front door counter. Grabbing it as well as the oriental lilies he’d collected for her, she retired to her bedroom.
A storm had since brewed outside, thunder cracking off in the distance. And she too felt electric, blood rushing through her veins.
She stayed awake all night.
.
In the meanwhile, the man she was thinking about was crouched on her roof, listening to her now steady heartbeat. He always stayed until she fell asleep. Once her breathing had deepened and evened out, he usually took his leave.
He could hardly concentrate on anything other than the young woman who’d taken a chance on him. His thoughts were clouded, and his blood was rushing. Jaw closed tight, he was consumed by their plans for the following night. He hadn’t wanted to leave when he did, but he knew it was for the best.
Being showered in her attention had been intoxicating, like a shot of heroin.
He inhaled and exhaled deeply, trying to reign in the turmoil building inside. Under the torrent rain, he felt the clash of thunder and bursts of lightening rattle inside his chest. He felt unbreakable.
She was a secret, a mystery he’d slowly unravel. She was so much more than what he knew about her, and this intrigued him. The way she’d reacted was a flag, a signal telling him that there was something else to the pure energy he’d found himself associating her with.
Energy flowed through his body, and he knew he needed to channel it and defuse it. He needed a target, a mission, anything to focus his mind. He raked through the night’s events, and immediately found what he was looking for. The man who hurt her and stopped her from going to the Broadway show.
He conjured up a clear image of his face and his whole body bristled with uncontrollable anger. Jason, he mused. Yes, Jason would do
That night, Black Noir would spend the hours hunting.

I ended up with some birthday money and just bought myself 100 bucks worth of cute things on Amazon.
Sailor Moon Pajamas
It's hard to see but the pocket has a little bunny on the moon with text that says moon goddess, there are also little pink bows on the back pockets. I was surprised to find such a cute Sailor Moon item on amazon.
Sailor Moon Make Up Bag
It's so cute and looks organized and roomy. Today I did my make up and I dragged all my stuff out of the closet in a free promotional drawstring bag. I think I will feel much better next time I go to get this baby. Not only will it be more organized, it will be more cute.
Sailor Moon Hanging Organizer
I'm hoping to use this to organize a bunch of random medical stuff I keep next to my desk. You know, eczema gloves, glasses case, medications.
Squishy Hello Kitty Mango Key chain
Whenever I see squishable stim toys, I want them all. I hold back most of the time, but I caved. Mango is my favorite flavor of anything.
Cute Monitor Dust Cover
Because kawaii, n'est pas?
Cinnomoroll Plush Backpack with a Star Crown
This is by far my favorite item because it is so overwhelmingly cute. It's gonna take a month to get here, but the reviews were all positive, so I have high hopes.
Am I really allowed to have so many cute things? This isn't a dream right? Sorry to post this here but I am very very very excited for the cute things and I needed to vent about it.

2020 Year Review~
2020. Pretty unique year, don’t you think? It’s the first year since 2002 to have only two different digits in it. After 2022, this won’t happen again until 2111. Yep. Absolutely nothing more interesting than that.
Anyway! It’s time I reflect on my 2020, look back on my yearly goals and rant about things that happened to me this year. I made a post like this last year, where I went over my 2019 goals and talked about what I accomplished and what I didn’t, and it’s only fitting I do the same again this year. Read more under the cut for a random stream of consciousness ramble!
So, first things first, let’s look at my 2019 goals;
Finish paying off that last student loan
Put more stuff on my redbubble
Illustrate my own fan fics
Sew at least one stuffed animal
Make an enamel pin
Read one new book a month
Write one page a day/Complete at least one new fan fic
Learn Python or C# for the game I want to make
Finish fully scripting Ghost Switch
Boost my patreon
Paying Off My Last Student Loan: Going down the list, I am proud to say that I FINALLY paid off all my student loans! (and not a moment too soon. The last payment I made was literally days before the first quarantine rolled out). It took me roughly 4 years on my part-time paycheck to pay off all my loans, and once I finished, I had no money to my name (literally; I had less than 1k as emergency money in case of car troubles or health issues). Heck, I’m STILL living at home as a save up for a place of my own. Finally paying off all my student loans DID activate my secret 2020 new year’s resolution, which was to adopt a cat! I did this too, literally a week later! She is the best thing that’s happened to me this entire year and I love her so much and she is the snuggliest cuddle bug I’ve ever met. I’m so happy she’s in my life now~
Put More Stuff On My Redbubble: ah ha ha ha… I thought I did this, but then I went and checked, and it turns out-! I did not. I made art I intended to go on my redbubble, but haven’t put there yet. They are all drawings of some OCs from a game I want to make, but because I haven’t progressed on making the game this year, I never got around to putting more stuff related to it on my redbubble. At the time of writing, there are 7 days left in December, so I guess I could go and put it up on my redbubble right now, but without context on where the characters are from, there wouldn’t be much point, now would there?
Illustrate My Own Fan Fics: Another goal that I was so stoked to actually do… and then just didn’t. Gee, I wonder why I couldn’t find the energy or motivation to do it this year? Truly a conundrum. (Hey, you know what? If Ghost Switch counts as a fan fiction in a visual form, then I am doing GREAT on this goal. 2.5 years in, 1 of ~4 arcs done, and still going steady~)
Sew At Least One Stuffed Animal: Okay, I have a valid excuse for not doing this one. I even knew which stuffed animal I wanted to make, and had the pattern drawn out and everything, but I had no money for materials because I had just paid off my student loans. And then, by the time I did have enough money again, quarantine was in full effect and I couldn’t go out to the fabric store. I’m still trying my best to stay out of public places even if the rules are laxer now, because I don’t want to catch the plague even if everyone in my goddamn city thinks and acts like the problem is over already. Even if they’re all wearing masks, even if they’re staying 6 feet apart, I still don’t want to risk it. I will stay inside until health experts give the all clear, and when that day comes, then I will buy some fleece and make a plush.
Make An Enamel Pin: I ACTUALLY DID THIS ONE. TWICE! Halfway through quarantine, I was feeling anxious and depressed about my job and how they were planning to have me work with the public despite climbing infection rates and positive covid cases. I didn’t quit then, but in a desperate move to try and become self-sufficient, I went to madebycooper and made two enamel pins based on some butterfly dragons I drew last year. They’re on my etsy store now! I even went out of my way to open a P.O. box just to start a small business! I haven’t sold a single pin yet, and I’m actually really nervous to sell my first because I don’t trust the efficiency of the postal system thanks to the actions of the GOP that really screwed them over this year! (If you would like to see my enamel pins, click here!)
Read One Book A Month: I did this! With dragon books I bought a couple years back! In fact, I read FOURTEEN dragon books, and still have more books for next year to read! The 14 books I read this year were:
The Hive Queen
The Poison Jungle
Wings Of Fire Legends: Dragonslayer
Dealing With Dragons
Searching For Dragons
Calling on Dragons
Talking to Dragons
The Bronze Dragon Codex
The Brass Dragon Codex
The Black Dragon Codex
The Red Dragon Codex
The Silver Dragon Codex
Dragon Strike, and
Hatching Magic
To be honest, I had read The Red Dragon Codex years ago when it first came out, but completely forgotten what it was about. I remembered liking it, and I knew the reading level was on the lower side, but the whole dragon codex series was pretty good! So far, the Silver dragon codex was my favorite, and black dragon codex was probably the worst! Hatching Magic was also really slow and bad and had plot points that went nowhere, but the book was written in the 80s, so I don’t know what I expected. The Dealing with Dragons series was very charming and great for the most part, save for one line in the last book that really rubbed me the wrong way, and all the Wings of Fire Books go above and beyond in this third arc. The second legends book could be a little tighter, though (sky and wren are the best duo and I want a book solely about them, but I honest to god do not care about leaf and ivy’s stories.)
Write one Page of any story every day/ complete at least one fic: I… did this? Okay, I kinda cheated near the end of the year. I was keeping up the one page a day thing for the first four months, but then the world went to shit and my schedule and habits got disrupted and I fell off my good track record. I completed 7 out of roughly 12 one-shots I had planned for this year (my goal WAS supposed to be one short a month, but… you know how it happens) I kept trying to catch up on this goal all year, but the days kept piling up…. Until November hit. I managed to write over 250 pages for Nanowrimo, and I consider this goal a win. 365 pages of fiction in total, which averages out to about one a day~. SHUT UP IT COUNTS.
Learn Python or C# for the game I want to make: Another goal I didn’t have the mental energy to commit to this year. Truly a mystery to where all our willpower went in 2020.
Fully Finish Scripting Ghost Switch: still haven’t done this one yet! The Snowdin arc is completely planned, but I just haven’t gotten around to getting the other areas. I’m not worried, though. I know all the major plot points I gotta hit, it’s just weaving them together in a way that flows nice is the final task. I’m not too worried though. I don’t expect to finish the Snowdin arc for another year and a half, at the bare minimum.
And my last goal of 2020, Boost My Patreon. I did this at the beginning of the year, but then very intentionally stopped about a third of the way through. It didn’t sit right with me to tell you guys to donate to me when suddenly EVERYONE was financially strained from layoffs or being furloughed. I told my patrons the same, and if you ever need to stop donating to me to take care of yourself first, then by all means, please do. I would feel much better knowing you’re using your money to see yourself fed and housed instead of given to me (where it is pretty much only used to buy gas for my car, honestly)
Welp! That was all my goals for 2020! I achieved 4 out of 10 goals plus 1 secret goal! Pretty much the same ratio as last year, but now this time I can blame all my failures on the pandemic! I don’t feel so bad about myself anymore~
ON TO 2021!
I have 11 goals for the new year, again some rolled over from this list, and some from even older years. They are, in no particular order;
Read 12 new books (roughly 1 book a month)
Finish the first draft of 2019’s Nanowrimo project and rewrite it
Script TDV
Finish Scripting Ghost Switch
Build A Comic Buffer
Sew 1 Stuffed Animal
Finish 1 Song Comic
Make another Enamel Pin
Finish 2 short original comics (this one counts as 2 goals)
Finish the 5 remaining one-shot fics
Now to go into depth on each one, more for my own sake, really. I want to know exactly what I have planned for each goal this year, and sometimes just looking at a short list doesn’t capture all the smaller details.
1)Read 12 new books. Same as last year! I The only difference is I might not be able to make it all dragon-related books. (I try my hardest not to buy from amazon anymore, but half-price-books doesn’t always have the obscure stuff I’m looking for)
2)Finish 2019’s nanowrimo project. If you read my 2019 year reflection, you’ll notice I said I wanted to do some original writing. And I did! The story I wrote for nanowrimo back then was a story I’ve been toying with since 2017, but it was only last year I finally got pen to paper. Now, you may find it odd that the keyword says “finish”. You may think, “but isn’t that what you’re supposed to do for nanowrimo?” and to that I say, WRONG! I wrote 50k words for nanowrimo, but the draft was only about halfway complete. I was kinda discouraged about what I had written last year, because I didn’t like how it was coming out, but I did manage to get it half done. Now it’s time for me to bite the bullet and just finish the thing so I can finally revise it and make it into something I DO like. (It’s still gonna be hella long, tho. That’s what I get for trying to write an epic fantasy, I guess.)
3)Script TDV. TDV is the abbreviation of the game I want to make. I… still need to do so much for this project OTL… In addition to getting the story solidified, I still need to draw art and game assets, and learn how to code for it, both of which are no small task. I keep having some sort of new year’s goal related to this on my list, and every year I just don’t hit this one. Will 2021 be different?
4)Finish Scripting Ghost Switch. (Or at the very least, get the waterfall arc completely written out). I have a plan to break this down into simpler steps, by focusing on just one arc for a month or two. Every major arc has 2 to 3 parts, broken up by flashbacks, and if I can just finish one section a month, then I should have the entire thing scripted by the end of the year. It’s not a difficult pace, but seeing if I stick with it will be the real challenge, as it is will all my goals it seems.
5)Build a Comic Buffer: I’m actually working on this one right now! Since I paid off my last loan and got a new job this year, my current Patreon goals are kind of out of date. They had all been centered around me paying off that last loan, and working towards full-time employment, but those are both completed now! So instead, I would love to get to a place where my patrons could read pages at least a week ahead, and to do that, I need to build a buffer. And since I’m working 5 full days a week now, I can’t afford to fall behind. But you can’t fall behind if you constantly stay ahead! I would like to have… a 10 to 12 page buffer. That’s roughly 3 months’ worth of pages to always have on hand in case I get swamped with work, or something. Right now I currently have a buffer of 3, which will cover me for half a January, which is better than not having anything at all, but still not the best. (ultimately, I would love to have a buffer so big, I could queue them up for the whole year. Wouldn’t that be something?)
6) Sew one stuffed animal: same as last year. ASSUMING the plague gets under control in 2021, I don’t expect to get to this goal until the summer at the earliest.
7)Finish 1 song comic: I have 7 song comics planned. One is a gift, one possibly for wandersong, one is a collab that’s currently in the works, but I’m waiting on a friend to do their part before I can continue mine, 2 are UT related, and 2 (well, technically 3, but one is the collab) are KH related. It’s one of the UT ones that will probably get finished, if I’m being honest. It’s completely story boarded, and now I just need to ink and color it. I would like to get it done for UT’s 6th birthday, since I made a song comic on the fly for the anniversary this year, and it was fun, and I’d like to do it again! So, look forward to that next september~
8) Make another enamel pin: I have a dolphin design I’d like to make because dolphins are cute, if not little murder machines. (need to save up some expendable income first, tho. THESE THINGS AIN’T CHEAP TO MAKE.)
9 and 10) start and finish 2 original short comics: I’ve got some comic ideas I want to do, but I need to get them written out first. I don’t think either would be too long. Each maybe a couple “episode’s” length, if envisioned on a website like webtoons or tapas. They’d both be heavy in allegory, but not overly drawn out (hopefully)
11)And lastly, Finish the 5 remaining one-shots I had planned for this year but never got around to. I’m going to try to write one every other month. Pure self-indulgent shipping fluff. If I finish these 5, then maybe I’ll ask other people for more prompts and ideas, which I’ve never done before. We’ll see how it goes~
Also, Like last year, I’d like to look at everything that’s happened to me this year, though to be honest, I’m not sure how much I remember/how accurate it’ll be. God, I don’t even remember what January was like. Who was I back then? Who were we all back then? I guess I’ll start my yearly retrospective in march because, heh, god we ALL know what started happening in march.
Firstly, I paid off my last student loan! Then a week later on March 18th, I drove half an hour out of my city to adopt a cat and I love her and it was the best day of this year for me. Spring break is just beginning this weekend, but the attendance at the zoo is shockingly low this year. Apparently, a lot of people watch the news, and they’re all taking precautions about social distancing. I wasn’t too disappointed. Fewer people at the zoo, the easier my job is for me. I was looking forward to getting some free overtime on spring break, since I’m broke after paying off that loan, and I’m a cat parent now and have a furry child to feed. Monday rolls around. My manager calls me and tells me that the zoo is going into lockdown until further notice. I worry for the birds I take care of, but understand it’s for everyone’s safety.
For two months I sleep in and watch way too much YouTube. I join a couple writing discords. I have nightmares about my birds escaping their enclosure and I dreamed one of the security guards I really like at the zoo gets covid and has to go to the ER. I woke up really upset.
I started and finished BBS for the first time. I also replayed and finished KH2 final mix for the first time. It had been about 5 years since I last played KH2 before my PS2 died, and it was like coming home~ I also finished tearaway, and played and beat Ryme for a second time (which I can’t remember if I did that last year, but it was a fun experience regardless)
Mid-June, and I’m allowed to start going back to work, be it on reduced hours. The zoo is still closed to the public, but I’m loving it! I get to work with full-time keepers and do full-time keeper things. It’s so much fun not having to deal with the public. August starts to creep up and there’s a rumor that the zoo will be opening to the public again, which I’m not stoked about. I don’t want to go back to standing in one exhibit all day, talking to guests who don’t listen to the rules or to me. 2 of my younger coworkers (who had both only been there a couple of months) get chosen for full-time positions, while I get passed up which really pisses me off. My other 2 coworkers quit when they think we might be reopening because they cannot risk catching the virus due to at-risk family. I am now the last keeper in the interactive bird exhibit.
I keep working, the zoo slowly opens, but with me as the only interpreter in our interactive bird exhibit, we can’t open because I can’t run the entire exhibit by myself. So my exhibit stays closed. September comes and goes, and then October starts. Now there is more serious talk of opening my exhibit before the end of the year because the zoo expects to bring in larger crowds for the Christmas lights event in November/December. I ask if I get hazard pay or health insurance since I’m doing full-time hours until they hire more staff. They say no.
I immediately start searching for a new job feeling incredibly indignant/hurt/slighted/insulted/used/abused/ALL the negative feelings at my job. I had been there for 4 years, but never got a chance to work full time, while the two newest hires who had only been there 2 months both got moved up. I can’t help but feel they were holding one mistake I made two years ago against me and never wanted to give me a chance. (that, or they knew I was reliable when it came to showing up for work in such a volatile position that sees a lot of new faces, and they didn’t want to bother going through the process of hiring someone new) I don’t want to risk my life working around guests who don’t wash their hands and don’t properly distance. I don’t want to gamble with my health when they won’t offer me health insurance because I’m part time.
Mid October, I get an interview for a full time job and get hired on the spot. I peace out at the zoo 2 weeks later, literally 3 days before they planned to open my exhibit to the public. It was a close call for me to escape before they opened to the public (and pettiness was only partially the reason I dipped out so close to opening). Sorry new hires who are now in charge of the bird feeding exhibit. I taught you the best I could in the short time I had. If the managers are struggling with what to do with one less person, I can’t say I feel bad. I can only hope they delayed opening/closed you down again for your own safety. You are not lightbulbs. I really hope the higher ups stop considering you as replaceable as one. Will I go back to the zoo to visit? Probably. But not for a year at least.
I started my new job the very next day after I quit the zoo, and have been there ever since, (which isn’t that long yet, tbh. Christmas day was my 2 month anniversary). It’s full time, but it’s also a small business, and everyone’s hours this year have been on the short side due to the plague. I understand, though. They don’t want us to work if they can’t afford to pay us. Everyone is nice enough, though some people smoke and it’s hard to avoid them with how frequently we have to go in and out, and I really don’t want to get lung cancer, sorry not sorry, please and thank you. Also, with such a small team, gossip is certainly harder to go undetected, so it’s a relief knowing people don’t talk behind one another’s backs.
I participated and beat my 4th nanowrimo in a row, I made TWO apple crisps on thanksgiving, and made baklava on Christmas and both of these recipes were my first time making them, and they both came out adequately! I voted the first day of early voting, and I did an art trade/collab with two of my friends for my birthday! (normally we would have done monthly “art days” where we get together and do art projects for fun because we’re adults and we can spend our time together however we want, but the plague said otherwise this year) We drew pokemon and it was fun! (hopefully I can show you all the results soon. At the time of writing, I’m still waiting for the last two colored parts to get back to me)
I reached 100 pages on my undertale comic, and finish the first arc out of…! (im not sure. It’s either going to be 4 or 5, I haven’t decided yet)
Over all, I managed to stay healthy as far as I know. I wasn’t as productive as I wanted to be this year, but then again, who was? (don’t answer that. I don’t need that kind of comparison in my life right now)
Will 2021be any better? Honestly? I don’t think so. Not right away, at least. Just because a new year is about to start does not mean the slate is completely wiped clean. The change of the calendar year doesn’t magically make all our current problems disappear. Covid will still be here and cases will still climb when January starts. Small business will still be strained when the month rolls over, police will still go on murdering innocent civilians and getting away scot free, amazon and disney will still be monopolizing all consumer goods and media, and I can’t help but feel like there’s an impending shit show about to go down on inauguration day. I do hope things will get better, though. It’ll be arduous and unpleasant, but I do hope things will improve, because sometimes hoping is all you can do.
Good night.

Guide to buying Pokémon Center JP merch
Hey guys,
So after getting an ask from an anon this morning, I decided to rush a guide to buying the trainer merch that released yesterday (or technically the 24th if you have a means to buy from the Japan-exclusive Pokémon Center’s online store), just in case there are others who don’t know what to do or where to go. Some of y’all have favs in this merchandise line called Pokémon Trainers 2 (Pokémon Trainers originally came out ~July 2019). Pokémon Trainers 2 contains merchandise of Leon, Raihan, Piers, Gloria (SWSH female protag, sorry Victor), Bea, Nessa, Erika, Serena, May, and some dudes from the subway? No idea who those are as the only gens I’ve played were 4 and 6-8.
Merchandise includes (but is not limited to) pins, keychains, shirts, sketchbooks, plushies, phone cases (iPhone only, rip us android users), switch cases (rip switch lite users), towels, etc. So if you want to try and get something from the Japanese Pokémon center and have no way to do it, hopefully this can help you :) so you don’t overspend like I did
TL;DR: It’s Amazon Japan and proxy services. Amazon Japan is more reliable (and cheaper) because you don’t have to pay for service fees and for someone to buy your item, and then turn around to pay international shipping like a proxy service. Amazon Japan is one payment and ships pretty fast. The only downside I would say is that by the time items appear on Amazon Japan, they’re being sold out in other places, like Pokémon center running out of preorders within hours of the merch release date (the site literally crashed for about 2 hours on the 24th. I’m blaming it on the fact they dropped Leon and Raihan merch the same day).
If your item can be bought on Amazon Japan and you don’t mind waiting, use Amazon Japan. If your item cannot be bought on Amazon Japan (explanation below) and/or you don’t want to wait Amazon Japan to have it up just to have it sold out within a day, use a proxy you’ve researched and know is reliable and ships to your country.
I first bought merchandise from the Japanese Pokémon center last year, when they released Leon’s cape as a blanket (it’s super soft btw). The Japanese Pokémon Center does not ship internationally, which is annoying to every person with a non-Japanese address. Luckily, there are pretty much two ways around it that can prevent you from booking a flight to Japan to get one (1) item.
1. Amazon Japan
Amazon.co.jp is just that-Japanese Amazon. Japanese Pokémon Centers have their own section on Amazon Japan called the Pokémon Store (ポケモンストア ). My Japanese is basic at best, but with google translate and a little background knowledge, I can maneuver as much as I need to. I would put a link to it right here, but because tumblr eats post that have links in text, it would make this post meaningless. Therefore, I’ll just show you the search method
A. Type in amazon.co.jp Pokémon center into google search, This should pop up:
B. If this comes up, click on the second link titled “Amazon.co.jp: Pokémon Store: Toys & Games” as that’s where you want to go. Once there, you’ll be greeted by a bunch of Japanese text, which will either be a blessing or a nightmare
C. When you are on this page, click on the link titled “ポケモンセンターオリジナル” (translation: Pokémon center original). This basically takes you to the page that has items exclusive to Japanese Pokémon centers. As someone not fluent in Japanese, this is really the only link I need the worry about on Amazon Japan.
You’ll then be greeted by the merchandise available for sale:
As I am typing this, some items are already sold out. Plushies for Leon, Raihan, Piers, are gone (of course you are). In fact, some items are even straight up missing from Amazon Japan. Let’s say the item you want is sold out on Amazon Japan or, like the anon I answered earlier, the item you want isn’t here. Then what? TBH, your only choice is eBay or the Pokémon center online (which is all in Japanese. Godspeed)
If your item isn’t here, the search gets a bit tricky, but it doesn’t mean hope is lost (yet).
I don’t know how often Pokémon does this, but for some items on their online site, they have a message at the bottom. Let’s look at Leon’s plushie for example:
If you check the black box, it pretty much says “due to popular demand, we are accepting more preorders!”. JP Pokémon Center Online had preorders open the September 24 at 10AM JST, so you could’ve preordered your items before Amazon Japan put them up on the 26th JST. This time, they are accepting more preorders for specific items until: 1) they run out of stock (again) or 2) October 11, 2020 11:59 JST hits. Whichever comes first. Unfortunately though, because this is stock #2 for Japan’s Pokémon Center, your items won’t be shipping until February 2021. If you were lucky to get your item in stock 1 or Amazon Japan, that ships October 3 2020.
2021年2月 is February 2021. If you’re forgetful like me, it’ll be hilarious when you wake up ~5 months later after preordering and you get a random package you forgot you paid for😂.
So you’ve found another chance to get your item, but Pokémon Center doesn’t ship outside of Japan. You live in Not Japan. Now what?
2. Proxy service
Proxy services are..services (:P) that can either preorder the item for you, or physically go to the Pokémon center stores located across Japan to buy the item for you. They then ship it to your house. Japanese proxy services are able to do this because they are simply located in Japan, allowing them to have a Japanese address to place preorders or head to the stores themselves. Unsurprisingly, they are more expensive than just using Amazon because you have to pay someone to do this for you. TBH, expect to pay at least 2X the price of the item you want when using a proxy. (For example, Leon’s plush is 2200 yen which is equivalent to 20.83 USD as of 2020. I paid around 52 USD for mine, including international shipping. Now imagine buying for 2 people. Yeah.)
Let’s use anon’s desired item for an example of using proxy. The anon who sent me an ask today wanted the buttons/pins, which are these(I think lmao)
Like all things business, there is a catch.
Lucky for anon, Pokémon center is (currently) taking more preorders for this item (black box) up until October 11 JST, or until they run out of stock again. Unfortunately, these items will now ship in February of next year (dark blue box). However, there is one thing you really need to look at for:
The fine print.
It’s bad enough if you can’t read Japanese, but Japanese fine print? Even worse. Thankfully, all you need is google translate for that.
Some items being sold in this merchandise have a fine print. They have a limit as to how many you can buy, or, in some cases, you can’t get a specific design. I’ve noticed this with the T-shirts, keychains, and buttons (although it’s listed as Can badges rather than buttons).
F-in-the-chat-for-fine-print message #1: 1 item per person:
F-in-the-chat-for-fine-print message #2: You cannot pick the design (in other words, if you buy this item, you get a random design/character):
It sucks for us, but from a business perspective, they most likely acknowledge the fact that everyone and their mom is going to buy a Leon/Raihan/Piers/Nessa/Bea T-shirt/keychain/badge vs. an Erika/Serena/May T-shirt/keychain/badge and as a result they’ll have a lot of left over items that have little to no demand. They sense a heavy bias, so they put down this limit that you can’t pick the design and it’s only random. In the case of the buttons/can badge, you either have the option of buying all 19 badges (which is why it’s priced at 6270 yen which is ~60USD) or you buy a single, random button/badge for 330 yen (3USD). Although I just checked, and those items are sold out with currently no chance of restocking. So anon, if you’re reading this far, it’s either you buy the entire package of 19 badges (and resell the rest) or you have to try your luck on eBay.
In the event your item isn’t sold out but is not on Amazon Japan, you want your proxy service. I only started using a couple for this merchandise only, as I was buying merch for 2 people and Pokémon center has a strict limit of 1 per person. Plus, items I wanted weren’t even on Amazon Japan. I have some proxy service ideas below:
A. White Rabbit Express. This is my first time using them. They managed to get my items, but because they were late in preordering, one item is coming this year, and another coming next year. This means I now have to pay international shipping twice since the items are too far apart in ship dates to put in one package to be shipped internationally. Hooray. Salt aside, their service fees are a bit expensive (12% of the price of your order) but they do their job, I suppose. They work M-F 10AM-7PM JST, so the time difference made it harder for me to communicate with them (we’re 13 hours apart). They do respond relatively quick though, and always update you on the current situation. They have cheap shipping options...which are not being used in some countries due to COVID-19. Because I live in the US, a lot of shipping businesses are not shipping to the United States. Therefore I’m stuck with spending 20-30USD on international shipping alone instead of the usual 6-10USD. Reviews say they are trustworthy, and I currently believe they are, albeit a bit slow when it comes to preordering a limited item. On the bright side, they allow refunds as long as they didn’t pay for the item yet. Make sure to read their FAQ.
B. Zenmarket. Reviews say they are good. I haven’t use them so I don’t have personal experience. They have a flat service fee of 300 yen which is super cheap. They take forever to tell you how much an item costs so you can pay for it, though. A scary moment if the item you're looking for is limited and highly sought after. Again, COVID-19 knocked out some shipping services so always double check what services are shipping to your country despite the pandemic.
C. Sunyshore Store. A service specifically catered the Pokémon items. Their prices are expensive, and they said it was due to the high demand, which I just think is a bit..eh😒 I avoided them once I saw I would have to spend about 70 USD for a plush that’s not even that big. If I’m spending 70 dollars for a Leon plush, it might as well be the real Leon, tf.
D. Meccha Japan. They have a 5% off coupon (PKJ5) if you spend a certain amount (I think it’s 50 USD?) but I’m not sure. Prices are okay as it includes international shipping. They are currently out of stock for some Pokemon Trainers merch such as Leon and Raihan plushies, but they plan to restock in October 3-10. My only peeve is that their restocking period is like 3AM EST lol.
E. Hello Japan. hellojapan.shop is their website. I bought my Leon plush off of here literally the day before Amazon Japan had it, so I spent more money that I should’ve. Prices listed don’t include shipping, but that might depend on where you are in the world. They have a cancellation fee of 30% which is quite high, so I decided to take my L and not cancel my purchase to buy it on Amazon Japan. There is nowhere listed on their site what their office hours are. Their only form of contact seems to be just email.
F. Others. While checking around the internet I ran into other proxy services such as FromJapan, tenso.com, buyee.jp and remambo that help in buying things off the pokemon center. I didn’t look into them so I don’t have anything to say about them, other than buyee,jp has a million and one fees, and remambo at least allows you to cancel orders (before they buy them obviously)
G. Ebay. Ebay sucks due to the fact that resellers are shooting up the prices for these items. I literally saw a Leon plush being sold for 180 USD a couple days ago. I’d have to be out of my mind to buy any toy for that much money. If you shift through the overpriced resellers though, there are a couple decent ones. When you make an ebay account, you can message the seller and ask questions about the product before making your decision.
That’s pretty much it! There may be better, more informative guides on google if you search a bit but if this guide helps at least 1 person, I’d be totally content with that. Good luck with merchandise hunting! If you have questions you can reply to this post, message me on anon, or just shoot me a dm.

Wonder Woman 84
Days ago I did a two-part Spoiler-Free review of this movie x, xx
My conclusions from that spoiler free review were it was a very mixed bag of a movie and that, ultimately, I did like it but I could see why people might dislike it.
Now with a read more coming, I will get into spoiler territory because I’ve given the movie a few days to sink in.
If you don’t want to get spoiled, click away.
Warning: What follows are personal opinions. You are free to disagree, these are just my thoughts and feelings.
Ok. The emotional parts, I liked. This movie had a very good handle on its emotional scenes.
Actions scenes-they varied in quality for me. The bad CGI everyone is citing is in fact the reason for this for me as well.
The pacing. That’s where I ding this movie the most.
It. was. too. damn. long. and. slow. It was also horribly uneven.
This script could and should have been pared down to two hours at MOST.
We didn’t need the opening to be Ancient Themyscira. We could have had that bit as a flashback later with Diana getting it as some sort of revelation of “cheating for what you want isn’t right” And that Ancient Themyscira bit could have been pared down to make a better flashback or a story Diana could have told Steve once she finally gets the message of the film: Truth over Lies.
The message of the film was also HAMMERED over our heads with how they went about it with that opening.
Also those competitors’ costumes are terrible. That fabric looks like the fabric they used to make plush dinosaurs from when I was a kid.
Just no. Their leather garb or have them wear pants like that of the culture the Ancient Greeks likely based the mythological Amazons on.
Jumpsuits--Just don’t.
I honestly have a whole bunch of stream of consciousness notes on how much I hate those jumpsuits but that’s a side-tangent rant.
Costume quality for the non-modern clothes seems to have taken a hit or they spent all the non-modern clothing costume money on that gold armor.
Speaking of bad, I have to touch on the CGI again in regards to Cheetah.
Oh, honey, what did they do to you? I don’t even LIKE you as a villain and that design made me sad.
So, I will now address the elephant in the room that I see being talked about EVERYWHERE: Diana and Steven having sex with Steven in that man’s body.
I found it icky because this ran through my head at Diana “you don’t know where that man’s been, you don’t know that man’s name, and you don’t have that man’s permission.”
I just don’t get why that was even part of the plot?
The Monkey’s Paw was already draining Diana’s powers.
They didn’t need to add the extra caveat of Steve possessing some guy’s body.
And that, more than the sex, was why I was pissed at Diana’s choices in this movie.
She was STEALING A MAN’S LIFE FOR HER OWN DESIRES. This character-not even given a name in the credits beyond “Handsome Man” deserved his own chance at a life. Diana refusing to renounce was her being ok with essentially sacrificing this man for her own happiness.
That was not ok. That was never ok. That wasn’t something Diana should have even thought was ok. I get that it’s showing her having her own decisions and how some of those are selfish and don’t turn out well but....we kinda got that in WW? She selfishly ran-off to try to kill the man she thought was “Ares” (Ludendorf I think his name was?) and it didn’t work out too well.
I just think this was a good angle to take, showing that even Diana can be selfish, but that this was a sloppy execution.
I think that a dangerous wish stone was not a good plot for a WW movie.
Some other godly artifact might have worked better, especially for the 80′s. Maybe, the Hammer of Hephaestus and its problem could have been in how it improved weapons or something if it HAD to be a MacGuffin centered plot. I know a more mystical magical plot does fit with a demi-goddess but it just didn’t feel like this plot was all that Wonder Woman like.
That villain, has the name of Maxwell Lord but he is not Maxwell Lord.
That said, he is sympathetic. There were times it seemed like they were trying too hard to make him someone to feel bad for, but on the other hand it worked. I did feel bad for him and wanted his kid to have his dad in the end.
Cheetah felt like an after thought and them trying their own version of a character like Amazing Spider-Man 2′s Electro. The overly clingy person who gets upset.
I get what they were doing with her in the film. Showing how power can corrupt and what she traded away was how personable she was and how kind she could be despite the world ignoring her and treating her badly. There was just something about how they handled her characterization that just didn’t sit well with me and just didn’t feel like it 100% worked.
And That’s really why I say this film’s a mixed bag. For every one thing I liked: the armor, Asteria, Steve’s awe at modern planes and space vehicles, the emotional moments, and even showing Diana having the ability to make a plane invisible as a nice wink and a nod to Wonder Woman’s invisible plane from the show, there were other moments that I didn’t like. See above. Then there were moments I was “meh” on and moments I did roll my eyes at. See the “hammered over the head” comment in regards to the Themyscira opening in regards to the main lesson of the film and even some of the cornier bits in that “saving the day” opening.
So, I stand by saying I liked Wonder Woman 84, but I also liked Batman v Superman, the other infamously flawed and overly long DCEU film. I even could enjoy Suicide Squad and all its Mid 2000′s Hot Topic-ness (but could not enjoy Harley Quinn).
What I’m trying to get at is, I like it but I can fully acknowledge that there are parts of this film that just are bad. Bad enough to drag those parts I really like down a little.

Before you read most of this, go check out the other full videos of Rizmo on my Instagram. It helps to see these in action, and with sound.(don’t worry, I don’t talk!) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6GdAwNglFb/?igshid=10iftw61w09cd here’s a handy dandy link for ya!
instagram
So. This is kinda my official review of Rizmo I guess. I got a lot to say about this little dude.
I suggest watching these with sound on btw, while I don’t talk it helps with what I’m about to explain.
Let me start this off with, I do not intend to throw Rizmo away, or break him. Ever. I treat him with just as much care as I treat my furby’s. I wouldn’t of bought Rizmo if I wasn’t at least interested in him visually and wanted him for that. I do like Rizmo visually and a little tiny bit interaction wise. I don’t hate him. Keep this in mind.
Now, onto the ups and downs.
I can at least say that he does do as the box suggests. Sings, evolves, etc etc. I think the biggest downfall about Rizmo as a whole is that other then the basic knowledge I had no way to know what I was in for. Hardly anyone has reviewed this toy that ISNT a child. Only one good video is what I could find with adults in it. And that’s it. So going into getting him I didn’t know how interactive he was or what he felt like or anything.
You get him, he’s a ball, with two little light up eyes. Over tune he grows a tail, and after that he evolves into what you see here. This whole function of evolving works amazingly well, the problem is that I don’t see a kid actually maintaining interest long enough. To evolve Rizmo you need to play minigames and sing(or talk in my case) to him. Which comes down to either rolling him around a lot for the mini game, or singing(or talking loudly) into his face. This took me about a hour and a half(or around that mark)to grind through. And that was me nonstop trying to evolve him. Most kids don’t have the patience for this, especially since the only true interaction you get from the toy is the minigames and singing and such. It’s bare bones basic. The only ‘interaction’ mechanically you get is he reacts to being bounced around. Nothing else. No tummy sensors, to head sensors.
And I will directly begin to compare him to Furby’s. Two generations in fact. The 1998 lines, and the 2005 lines. Both of these toys can interact in a multitude of ways. And learn over time. It’s a pet simulator to be honest and it keeps the kids interested cause it feels like they actually are interacting with you, as a person. Not just being there ready to be interacted with. Additionally it’s a small peeve but Rizmo hardly moves. His ears and tail are static. His front paws(hands?)are just fabric. And the only pieces that move are his feet, and his jaw. I friendly basic movements compared to something such as say, a 2016 furby. Who wiggles around at such break neck speeds sometimes they get unbalanced and tip over. Even something like the older 1998 furby’s are incredibly expressive, just with eyes, ears, and beak. And a slight shifting movement you can get a ton more expression. They don’t feel static. For the price of 40$, this is just... incredibly basic. Furby’s of the 1998 era were 20$ back then and very pricey, and still are today and are worth their money more.
As a extra extra side note, most people complained and still do, that original 1998 furby’s are LOUD. While I can agree some are incredibly loud, they have nothing on Rizmo. The sweet silence of my house once I turned him off was deafening almost, because he was so loud. He was loud enough to a point that when I turned one of my 1998 furby’s on, they thought he was loud. He was the same volume to them as someone raising their voice, or clapping loudly. I feel sorry for the parents who have to hear this toy.
Onto my biggest beef. This toy is fragile. Incredibly fragile. I do not know how a child won’t break this toy, even by accident. He is made of what sounds and feels like the most thin plastic ever on the side. 80% of this toy is hollow on the inside. Not a lick of stuffing seen, which makes sense for the evolving mechanics. But they chose the nose incredibly thin fur type that in a year, if your kid loves this toy will be probably losing its fur over time. Because of this thin fur you can feel the skeleton inside completely. His eyes are stationed inside the painfully hollow skull that you can feel around in through his incredibly empty mouth. I could actually unpop his eyes with no effort from the small holes in his skeleton inside. His torso has two plastic ‘rib cages’ i guess you’d call them, that expand when he evolves the first time. Once in this finally form you can feel that these are hollow shells almost that you can latch your fingers into with his loose fur. The fur is so lose intact he tends to have a bump or buckle on the top of his head in the back because it’s design to be taught to the skull when curled up. He has a light on his tummy in this form they I’m afraid I might jab since it’s precariously empty feeling as well. His paws(hands?) aren’t even stuffed and are empty tubes of fabric. His ears have a snap back hinge that I’m 100% certain a child will break. Same as his tail which also has a snap back hinge. Additionally, his whole mechanical end of things seems to have the mechanics, whole even turned off, to curl back up?? I am unsure if this is even purposeful or not. But I can see that getting jammed easily by a kid forcefully doing that. You can see me do this with both his feet, and his jaw(his ribs can also do this)and I’m hardly putting any effort into doing so.
Nothing in my mind makes me think this toy is good for children. The mechanics are easily boring, and the toy itself is fragile as heck feeling. Any kid who likes to cuddle toys won’t be happy with this. Unlike a furby who are solid, yes. But they have thick fur that makes them feel a lot more plush. And they can handle two decades worth of use and damage and still work, to this day. There’s something to be said when a toy form 2019 is more fragile and breakable then a toy in 1998 who has survived two decades of their life being played with and left in antics and yet somehow still work, and aren’t broken most of the time.
My verdict? Way until Rizmo goes on sale even more. It’s not worth 40$. And if you want one like me because it makes you think of a furby almost, wait also. It will go on sale, and when it drops down it’ll be more worth it. They already are. Amazon has the pink Rizmo right now for 30$. And the other colors for a little more.

We are slipping back into another pair of new shoesies from OnlyMaker, and this time I paired them up with a kinda-vintage look. I say kinda because I’m not wearing FF stockings with a pencil polka dot dress.
Anyways, so this pair was kindly gifted from my Amazon Wishlist a while back and as I have had many reviews to get through, I sadly left this one behind and only got round to doing it now!

The Packaging: I have to say I really do like their packaging. It comes in such a great box, which doesn’t damage easily. The shoes come wrapped in their own mesh bags and are wrapped in the box to protect them in transit.
As always, I thoroughly check my shoes to make sure there is no damage etc. and these were completely fine. No scratch marks, no glue marks etc.
Getting Them On: these were the easiest pair to slide right in to, especially with hosiery on. The great thing about these is the slingback sits in place the whole time, so if you do op your foot in and out, you don’t need to use your fingers to get the slingback in place again.
On The Feet: I gotta say these look incredible! As long as they are dressed the right way, these would look amazing on the feet. I did mine with all black to begin with, but you know for sure I will be dressing these up for nights out! I was a little anxious about the platform being a ‘little too sexy’ but actually they aren’t bad at all.
The fit of these are true to size, and with the slingback having the elastic in the middle, this helps to keep your foot in place and snug. Without it, I am sure that it would be a struggle for some.
The height is pretty high, and I would not recommend if you’re not used to it. Although these would be a good pair to practice walking in as they have the steady platform to them and you are secure with the slingback too. I thought the height was great and that stiletto is just to die for!
“Do these hurt when you’re in them?” Nope is the answer. As I was wearing hosiery, I didn’t feel these rubbing against my foot or ankle, they didn’t cut my skin and they didn’t give me blisters either. However, to prevent that from occurring, maybe break your shoes in by wearing them with thick socks or using some vaseline on any sharp or rough edges so it doesn’t damage your skin.
The platform is another wow factor; these have a good 3cm on them. I have to admit I have some platform boots which are 5cm+ and it took some getting used to if you haven’t worn platforms before.
The peep toe is super cute on this pair; I didn’t have my nails painted unfortunately but I can say these would look stunning with a lovey nail colour popping through. This did not hurt my toes in any way either, but if you are conscious of it, add some vaseline or equivalent so it doesn’t rub.
One thing I did like and it did help in my shoot today; the plastic covering on the soles. Sometimes they have them, sometimes they don’t. I left it on as I was on plush carpet however please do make sure you take it off before wearing as you will slip and fall!
youtube
My Thoughts?
I gotta say I really do like this pair. I sold my faux suede pair like this a good while back, and I am so glad I have another pair to replace them in my collection. I loved the way they look, the fit of them and the quality! I would certainly recommend these!

But he has secrets.
Secrets I can’t help but look into.
Secrets that are hindering me from being with him.
Secrets I intend to uncover.

She knows the power she wields on men and I’m no different because I crave her.
From the moment she fell on my lap, I can’t keep myself away.
One moment we’re arguing the next she’s on her knees before me.
She’s a rollercoaster ride I don’t want to get off of.
If only I could tell her about my past.
If only I could learn to love again.
Diesel has a dark past, but that won't stop him from making you squirm in your seats. Hold on to your panties ladies, Diesel's going to take you for a wild ride.
Blurb
“Three Weeks Ago…
I pulled up to Ravenous and wondered how the hell Chastity had found the guts to get involved with the Hellbound Lovers. They were a hefty bunch of men, all brawn and muscle. Having had to do extensive research on them, I actually found them to be a group of really fascinating, and powerful men. Men I definitely wouldn’t mind having at my back.
I sat there for a moment and assessed the infamous club Ravenous. The prestige club only let members in, and hosted hundreds of MCs that were in trouble or just needed neutral ground to relax in. It was notorious in the biker community for its sexual allure, and if you wanted in you’d need to agree to be put through a vigorous background check. Any sins you’ve committed, the Hellbound Lovers knew about them and they’d use them against you if need be. Helluva way to have leverage if you ask me.
The club always lured me, but I never had the guts to take a ride up to visit it. Tonight, was definitely going to be an experience. Loud music poured out from inside what looked to outsiders as an abandoned warehouse. Drunk bikers came out of a small door on the side, you could barely make it out along the dark brick wall. They swayed and laughed as they stepped out into the cool night air. I gingerly got off my bike and removed my helmet. As my brunette locks fell across my back I got the perpetual cat calls from a group of men across the street. I shook my head and made my way into Ravenous.
The man at the door was huge, at least six two or taller, and he had these powerful arms that would intimidate any man. And here I was, all five-foot-four curves of me, meeting his glare head on and eyeing him up and down.
“Name?”
“Gabriela Cristiano. Wolf Stone is expecting me.”
He curved up an eyebrow and let his eyes slowly roam down my body. I placed my hand on my hip and let the LAPD badge shine as his gaze dropped from my breasts to the shiny gold shield.
“Right this way.” Immediately he led me through the door and into the raunchiest scenario I’d ever experienced. The nude girls up on the stage were nothing new, it was the scenes below the stage, hidden in so many dark corners, where men were openly being satisfied orally and physically in every aspect you could think of, that’s what had my jaw dropping.
“This way,” the large man smirked at me as he signaled for me to follow him. Being a private establishment, I couldn’t do anything to stop them and they damn well knew it.
I was so busy ogling the scenes before me that I wasn’t watching where I was going. I gaped, my mouth opened in shock, as I spotted two women near the corner of the bar, on their knees, satisfying one helluva green eyed god. I stumbled over my feet, and suddenly I was flying over a chair. A set of powerful hands wrapped themselves around my waist and held me tightly in a strong embrace. I went to get up off the man’s lap, but he just shifted me around. I was about to tell him to keep his hands to myself when I met his dark gaze.
“Careful sweetheart,” he smiled up at me and the sound of his deep rumble nearly had me cumming for him right on the spot. Unexpectedly, my pussy throbbed wondering what it would be like to be taken back to one of those shadowed corners by this specific man, the music pounding around us, hiding my screams of ecstasy and grunts of dirty words being uttered out of his plush lips.”
(review under the cut)
Review
(audiobook) It was only my second MC romance. That should tell you the interest I have in the genre. Yet I went in with an open mind. I couldn’t be disappointed, and I wasn’t. It was neither good nor bad, just not my thing.
The story quickly became very heated, so I thought it would be erotica. But then it teased me with an interesting plot--of revenge against the man who killed Diesel’s wife. I was excited! But it let me down when the plot was resolved too quickly and I was left with half hearted emotions.
I never believed in Diesel and Gabriela’s feelings for each other. Lust at first sight, yeah, sure. But I didnt see the love.
I wasn’t too fond of the narrator either. I felt he tried to hard to sound sexy. But I’m not familiar with his work, I may try another book to see if it’s just his style.
At least it was a short read/listen, so I didn’t have time to get bored. And that explains how fast the story is resolved too.

What does it mean 3 position lift chair? It means that it’s primary range of movement is restricted to three positions, but these are more than enough for most people and situations.
Do lift chairs have a weight limit? Yes! All powered lift chairs have manufacturer specifications for maximum weight. I will include the specifications in my individual lift reviews along with other important specifications and information.
Where can I buy a lift chair? You can visit showrooms to get a feel of what they can do and how they fit your needs, but they tend to cost more when buying from a bricks and mortar business as they have to cover the costs of actually having a physical outlet. Unless you have a very specific need then I would suggest buying online from a reputable online store.
Where can I buy a lift chair near me? For the majority of us I would suggest that you make your purchase online. You will get some spectacular deals, normally with free delivery, full backup from the manufacturers service network and very often additional customer services, consumer protection and support when you go through a dedicated online distribution channel.

Which is the best lift chair manufacturer? Each manufacturer has its pro’s and cons. I examine these in each individual post.
How to look after my lift chair? Once you have purchased you lift chair then just treat them as you would any other normal chair, but with taking into consideration any notes supplied by the manufacturer. Normally the chairs can be cleaned with just a damp cloth as you would your other furniture. A quick, gentle vacuum will keep them fresh. Special care should be taken though with their remote controls making sure that they are not exposed to liquids or physical damage. Remember though that they are also an electrical appliance so normal care should be taken when dealing with electrical items.
How much does a lift chair cost? At the time of writing a three position lift chair cost around about $600 to $2500 and that’s from a reputable supplier, with a good service network in place, normally with free kerbside delivery and with a full 12 month warranty.
Just what is a lift chair? It is a lift up reclining chair which includes an electrically controlled system to make it possible for it to change to positions such as recline and elevation.

Don’t be stressed by the variety of styles available as are available in loads of guises and dimensions, but nevertheless the the thing every one of them have in common and that is that they have one, two or more electrical devices that power systems to allow the chair to do all of the effort when ever changing position from seated, to reclining to standing, that is why one of the popular terms for these mobility aid products being lift recliners, all in the relaxed environment of your home discreetly and without hullabloo. This really is fantastic for those who have any kind of movability difficulties eg lumbar, pinched nerve or joint tenderness, recuperating from various surgery treatment or simply normal age related issues (and also these types of recliner devices mean you don’t have to depend upon cushions, pillows or maybe, as I did, the ottoman to try to get comfy). As a result of their users requirements, power lift recliners are manufactured from the ground up from upholstery, body (hardwood generally speaking), raise device, battery back-up, cushion, backrest, lumbar support etc with one aim in mind….to enable individuals to live independently, as they really should, in their own home.

The more sophisticated of the rise and chairs are able to be lifted from ground level, quietly tilting as they go up to enable the individual sitting to move into a standing stance risk-free, easily and without the painfulness regularly caused by the activity. Just how do lift and recline chairs work?Apart from the previously mentioned mechanics, they work by the user just deciding upon a position or action on the handheld remote control connected to the chair.
All these remotes are in all likelihood the most sensitive item of the chair and caution should be taken so as not to accidentally pour liquids over them or harm them in any way. Don’t fret though, if it were to happen spare remotes are easily obtained.
Lift chairs come in handy for individuals who have difficulties or pain anytime going from a seated to a reclined or stood up position. By way of example those who have knee pain/ traumas, a neuromuscular condition, osteoporosis, body weight challenges etc. There are various communities in society that really benefit from having access to an electric powered lift chair;
This is how a power-driven lift chair shines.
Another assisted group of people is comprised of individuals with some kind of physiological incapacitation may need the assistance of an electric lift chair. Some physical challenges can stand in the way of tasks that the able-bodied take for granted and a rise and lift chair otherwise known as a rising tilt chair can be a great aid to someone with compromised mobility. https://ift.tt/32JGnC6
At one end of the spread you will discover people like myself who were made aware of them when searching for a little relief from an abrupt, but agonizing, spine problem. Now that this matter was remedied I now just like the fact that they are in fact incredibly comfy to chill in whilst watching a bit of Television or maybe doing a little reading safe in the knowledge that my back and muscle groups are being cradled in a suitable fashion.
Empowerment in motion! On a professional note, I used to be employed in the care sector and understand directly how debilitating and upsetting it might be for those who are considerably less physically able to need to rely upon somebody to assist them to achieve some greater freedom of movement. I also appreciate what enthusiasm can be endowed from accessing simple, but practical senior mobility furniture.
In cases where you’re the caregiver of a loved one assisting an individual with a physical challenge, having access to a lift chair at home often is a central resource in facilitating freedom for your responsibility as well as presenting these people with a means of ease and comfort and self-determination simultaneously.
And the last unique group is those that have osteoarthritis type ailments (tenderness and discomfort of the joints in the knees arms shoulders back etc). If you belong to this group of people then you may also get a lot of benefit from and relief from this type of assistive technology chair.
Basically if the individual who the will be the major user of the lift chair makes use of a mobility scooter, wheelchair, commode etc it is probable they would find substantial convenience and relief from a lift chair recliner.
Here are some questions that folks want answering when considering a lift recliner chair…Everything relies on your circumstances. Everyone has different needs, preferences, finances as well as, not excluding the color choice of your walls, a million other stuff (I don’t imagine anyone wants home furnishings that doesn’t match the interior decoration. ).

Very quickly you’ll be in a position to quickly figure out yourself which lift chair is advisable available to you by making use of the following knowledge contained in this power lift chair and recliner buyers guide. Before that however I have to provide you with a straightforward run-down and clarification of the different types of types that are offered to you.
Different types of lift chair; Two position lift chair, sometimes known as a chair and half recliner Fundamentally most of these are generally the less healthcare and more leisure end of the spectrum when it comes to features and price tag. The term 2 position is a little confusing mainly because they are the 2 extremes of the motion in the unit, one becoming normal and one being around 45° TV watching/ snoozing slant. Importantly it’s worthwhile noting that many two position lift chairs will not actually elevate you into the standing upright position, but they can help lift the trunk from recline posture into a seated posture. Use caution with this group of devices mainly because in some cases the lined area’s can be a bit thin and the battery powered back up might possibly only have a very limited capacity. This may not be a deal breaker, but it may be worth bearing in mind.
Three position lift chair These types of chairs have the same horizontal motion as two position lift chairs, however additionally they have the capabilities of being able to be partially raised from the ground and so the seated folk have a bit of physical support when shifting to a standing posture.
Infinite position raise chair These kinds of chairs permit autonomous motion of footrest along with the back. The seat will go into virtually any position, nonetheless the term infinite is a bit inaccurate because these chairs not go into an entirely flat position as you would expect with a bed for example.
Zero gravity lift chair These chairs enjoy the largest movement offered which makes them completely configurable to satisfy the majority of people’s wants, although they may be a little bit higher priced than chairs with less variety of movement as would be expected.
So what exactly is the best chair? In the real world the majority of people decide to select a three position chair as this meets their requirements, wants, budget, while importantly including the functions of having the ability to elevate and tilt the chair.
So, let’s have a quick recap of where we are now! We now know what these chairs are, what they do, who might benefit from having one and the various types available to us.
And…let’s have a quick reality check and see what are the practicalities of buy a lift chair.
Whichever way you look at it even the cheapest lift chair is not the cheapest chair you’ll ever buy. So here’s some things you need to look out for when buying your powered recliner lift chair (that’ll some suppliers call them, remember though that they all share the same basic functionality)
What are the key features to consider when buying a lift chair? Make sure that it has at least 12 warranty on the mechanism. Always make sure whatever model you buy has a back up battery power supply. Go for a supplier and vendor that is known in the marketplace and try to avoid unknown brands and ‘knock offs’. It’s a false economy that will end up costing more than you might save. Try to ensure that you buy from a company with a track record in the assistive technology field. Make sure that the supplier has good after sales customer service should need to contact them in future. Make sure that the model that you want to purchase and enjoy has good positive customer feedback. Conclusion. These chairs are an asset to individuals who are experiencing decreased mobility. Additionally they deliver a layer of self-reliance that could be absent in the event that use of these products was limited.
Anyways to sum up – no matter what your personal situation and mobility I really feel lift chairs are excellent because of the comfort, and extra assistance they give to individuals who might need it.

Cutie Reviews: Doki Doki Sept 18
Hi guys, here’s the (possibly) long-awaited Doki Doki September review that I probably should have done earlier this past week or two... or three. It kind of got put off, plus I got a new game and a new book I was excited about, and there was a hospital-related incident and some back pains...
Anyway I don’t have much else to say right now so we’ll just get right into it!
This months theme: First Day of School
As the weather gets cooler and we return from our summer vacations, we have to get back into the swing of things. This month’s theme is “Shin-gakki” or First Day of School. This crate is full of items to make school, or the workplace for those out of school, cute and fun!
For this month the Suteki Crate focuses on several practical Sanrio based character goods, namely My Melody, Sumikko Gurashi, and Jinbesan. I approve!
(As usual I forgot the picture until I started writing this.)
I love the adorable pen pouch and memo pen, what about you guys? :3
(Also as a side note, in the comic for the month we’re introduced to a new boy character, Hibiki Shinosuke, who finds out first-hand why Tomomi is avoided in class. He’s really funny, so I hope we see more of him~)
Sumikko Gurashi Pen Case
Our first item is this slim and adorably designed pen/pencil/other small stationery item case. It features the Sumikko Gurashi trying various school clubs, besides the tennis one I got there is also soccer, volleyball, soft ball, music, and basketball.
Besides the music one, I’m pretty happy I got this one because I like tennis. But they all would have been really cute, so I wouldn't have been disappointed either way.
These are also double sided, providing 100% cuteness on both sides!
It’s also made to be discrete while safely snuggling the inner-contents; which means you could probably also use this on a daily basis if you didn’t attend school anymore or was going out for the day. They are on the small side so there are a handful of items that probably won’t fit, but there is also a variety of items that will.
I pretty much use it and the one I got last year (or maybe the year before?) to hold all the pens and pencils I get from these boxes!
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I really like these x3 not only are they cute, but they are functional, well-made, and I like how they’re sleek and slim with a very smooth cloth fabric, rather than bulky and hard, which were the types of cases I had growing up when I attended school.
They were plastic which made them hard and fragile, and they got dirty fairly easy (but to be fair that was sometimes my fault), but I usually made them last until the school year ended. They came in handy due to their bigger size (I could fit some of everything school related in one) and I always had tons of coloring options, and I always found a pink one to buy each year... but I’m pretty sure my middle school self would have preferred these.
Jinbesan Folder
(Sorry the pics are kind of wonky, that’s what happens to a folder that’s been bent for a long period of time.)
Our next item is this large, colorful Jinbesan folder- which is pretty vital for pretty much everyone, no matter the grade. I know I had multiple each year, one for each subject like any other person.
There was a few different designs this was available in, and this one is also double-sided:
(Keep in mind it’s a lot brighter in person than in this picture)
Again, I’m pretty sure I would have loved to use these when I was younger; not that I don’t now though :P but I do have papers I can use it for now so it’s not like it’s going to go to waste... I just need to fix it’s bendiness first.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
This folder material is like a very sleek plastic (maybe vinyl? I don’t really know terms for these things >3<), so I like knowing that if it gets dirty then in theory it should be an easy clean. Prior to me opening the box it was already bent, but staying in the box so long didn’t help it, but that’s my own fault and I’m sure with enough weight I can flatten it again. At least this material can’t tear like paper folders.
Aggretsuko Plush Charm
Who doesn’t love Retsuko? She’s become extremely popular as of late, and as the booklet points out, it’s can be really easy to relate to her sometimes when dealing with school and work (it also helps if you like metal, I enjoy it a bit myself).
This is a plush charm that was available in either form, the cutesy work Retsuko and the released death metal one. I hope I don’t get hate over this, but I actually prefer her normal cutesy appearance; but I can still be appreciative over this one too.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
It’s very soft and squishy, I’m really impressed that as small as this charm is (It’s smaller than most mug in terms of height) it has a lot of perfectly stitched quality. There’s no quality issues, even the little hair tufts on the ears feel soft and silky. The ball chain is also pretty nice too.
My Melody Onigiri Maker
Whether you make your own lunch or someone else does it, or if you just want a snack, it’s nice to have a cutesy element in some shape or form to make it feel all the more special~
This comes in 4 pieces to make the perfect My Melody onigiri (rice ball), as well as drawn and written details to help make it on the packaging; although it isn’t that hard to figure out just looking at it either.
Now as much as I love rice and try to test out food-based gadgets we get, I wasn’t able to do that with this one. I didn’t have the “supplies” and with the hectic things going on, I wasn’t really doing much in the kitchen lately. But I have seen several youtube videos about items like this so I recommend going there if you want to see more.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Whether I tested this out or not, I wouldn’t have had very much to say about it. You’ve seen one rice shaper you’ve seen them all, and I have tested previous ones I got and haven’t had any problems (besides the broken one I got like two years ago that they were supposed to be replace and never did).
I love cutesy looking food, even if they can take a bit more time to make, but food always seems to taste better when it’s personally worked on; it also helps to make picky-eaters a tiny bit less-picky :P if you like eating rice and would like to try these out, you can find a variety of them on Amazon.
Amuse Pen
You can’t have a school themed box without a writing utensil of some type. So here we are, at our last item. An adorable pastel pen featuring the popular brand Amuse and it’s original characters.
It’s a bit hard to see here, but I got Alpacasso x3 which is the reason I like this brand, since I always had a soft spot for llama and alpaca- I like that they’re so popular now because I can enjoy them more frequently!
Anyway, each pen comes in it’s own themed color, with matching colored ink. It also has a wonderful and relaxing scent, it smells exactly like an eraser I got in a prior school themed box. But I still can’t identify the scent more than being a light sweet fruit with a hint of baby powder or cotton candy.
It smells really good, trust me.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
The pen quality is good, a tiny bit spotty but I think that was my fault for writing on the box rather than paper. Again it’s scented, and it has pretty sky blue ink, so I’m not sure it would be test or signature necessary friendly, but it’d be perfect for everything else!
Oh, also it isn’t a gel pen or fine tip, like what I usually prefer. But you know, I still really like it :3 I don’t have too many colored ink pens (unless you buy a really expensive pen or multi-ink ones, all we normally have are black, red, dark blue, and sometimes dark green) so I get excited when I can add to my collection.
In fact I pretty much stopped buying pens and stationery items from here because I get so many from these boxes.
♥ Cutie Ranking ♥
Content - 5 out of 5. I’m a teeny-tiny bit bugged by the folder, but that can easily be fixed so I’m not going to blame the box on that. I wasn’t amazed by the items or anything, but I liked them and I love getting to add to my pens and kitchen gadgets. They’re perfect for the time of year they were released and are very practical, so I completely approve!
Quality/Price - 5 out of 5. I’ll admit on terms of price I’m not sure where the box stands this month. The quality was excellent with each and every item, and because of them all being licensed I know that would probably make them costly depending on location. The problem with that is that where I live (and I’m sure in several other states/towns) school products are very cheap when school starts, and even throughout the year. So as much as I prefer cute items to plain ones... I’m not sure I’d go out of my way to spend triple times the amount just for a couple of them when I could use the same money to buy a lot of basic items. But to be fair I don’t know the prices of these things, it’s entirely possible they aren’t as expensive as I think.
Theme: 5 out of 5. Like last months, it’s extremely obvious even without the book. Every September they do a school themed box, but I like the consistency and I’m sure the other subscribers appreciate it too.
Total Rank: 15 out of 15 Cuties. When I first started this I wasn’t too sure how I felt about this box, it kind of gave me vibes from the previous one, where I enjoyed the items but I didn’t feel any sort of inspiration. I assume it stems from often getting “schoolish“ items in my other boxes, but at the same time I liked the concept of getting one box dedicated just to them. Plus I adore practicality considering how much gets spent on these and they have been doing pretty well with that!
♥ Cutie Scale ♥
1. Sumikko Gurashi Case - Again pastels and designs, but just looking at it makes me feel happy x3
2. Amuse Pen - I love it’s pale pastels and colorful design... but the clippy part of the pen’s top that you attach it to things with kind of blocks the image a teensy bit, which is kind of annoying to me.
3. Jinbesan Folder - I love how it has two alternate designs and is so smooth and translucent. Any time I see something Jinbesan related, I really want to hug it. I feel so warm and comforted looking at it~
4. My Melody Onigiri Maker - As much as I love cute pinkness, that’s all there really is going for it.
5. Aggretsuko Plush - ...It’s probably really obvious right?
Alrighty, that will be doing it with another review :3 I hope you found it enjoyable (I’d say informative but lets be real it isn’t), and because I didn’t get my April Gacha Gacha box yet, I will be moving on to our October boxes! I’m so excited, not only was October my birthday month, but it features spooky-kawaii items for Halloween~
Until next time, stay cute!

Arplis - News: 15 decor items to spruce up your home for spring
— Recommendations are independently chosen by Reviewed’s editors. Purchases you make through our links may earn us a commission. Spring is all about blossoming, new beginnings, and opening up the windows to let fresh air in. I look forward to a deep clean with a fresh playlist around this time every year, and things feel a bit more hopeful when the sun seems to be shining more—at least here in the Midwest. But, even if spring hasn’t quite gotten to your home yet, there are plenty of ways to spruce up your space with spring home decor. From fresh-smelling candles to a new doormat, these home decor items are a surefire way to make your space anew. So toss your blankets in the wash, grab an extra bag of soil, pour some tea, and get ready to freshen up your home for the upcoming season. 1. A candle to set the mood for the season Credit: Boy Smells Start by making your home smell like fresh fruits and veggies. Boy Smells candles have a cult following, and with good reason—they smell so good. I gifted one to my roommate and it brings a smile to my face every time she lights it. It’s still burning now several months later. To get your bedroom or living area ready for spring, I recommend pickup the Gardener scent. This candle is made of coconut wax and beeswax and combines notes of orange tree bark, tomato juice, honeysuckle nectar, petitgrain, and white tea to make the perfect aroma for those early spring days. Get the Boy Smells Gardner Candle from Nordstrom for $32 2. A doormat that matches your personality Credit: Olive Creative Co. Show your guests what to expect with a sassy or sweet doormat. With vaccines becoming readily available, we might be able to flex our hosting and entertaining muscles soon. So, now is the time to make sure your doormat is ready to welcome people into your home or make anyone passing by crack a smile. I’m a big fan of the “You Better Have Pizza” mat from Olive Creative Co. It’s humorous and lighthearted, and it’s perfect for a sleepover or getting pizza delivered. If that one isn’t your speed, check out other options like doormats that say “Homebody” or “Hey Sunshine.” Get the Olive Creative Co. “You Better Have Pizza” doormat from Esty for $45 3. Fresh foliage in the shower Credit: CAFlowerGrowers Make your shower feel like a spa. Whether you like to shower in the morning or take a late-night bath, a fresh bunch of eucalyptus in the bathroom will make your home feel like a spa. I love seeing the burst of green hanging in the shower, and the steam from hot water helps release the calming eucalyptus scent. Adding a bunch of the plant to your shower will help you start the day refreshed and unwind after a long day. Get the CA Flower Growers Large Fresh Shower Eucalyptus Bunch from Etsy for $23.49 4. Adventure-inspired candles Credit: Paddywax Match your itinerary with a new scent. While you’re planning your upcoming road trips, camping outings, and travel plans, consider getting inspired with a candle formulated after National Parks. The candle collection from Paddywax is earthy, textured, naturally fragrant, and a perfect aesthetic fit for your next visit. You can even strike anywhere-matches right on the vessel to make the candle feel like a blazing campfire. Springtime means spring cleaning, and for some people that includes getting rid of their old, crusty bathroom towels and replacing them with fresh ones. The Hydrocotton towels from Nordstrom are the perfect replacement or can be added to your current rotation. The 100-percent cotton material is ultra-soft and ultra-absorbent providing gentle and thorough drying. Get both the bath towel and the hand towel to give your body and your hands the VIP drying experience. Get the Nordstrom Hydrocotton Bath Sheet from Nordstrom for $55 Get the Nordstrom Hydrocotton Hand Towel from Nordstrom for $19 6. Wicker baskets Credit: QVC Store your blankets, toys, or plants in these gorgeous baskets. With spring comes warmer weather, meaning it's time to put away all the excess pillows and blankets you brought out for the colder months. These wicker baskets are the perfect combination of stylish and functional, allowing you to store those blankets close by when you do get chilly instead of searching for the plastic bin in your basement stuffed them in. There’s also something about the wicker material that's reminiscent of spending time outside. Get the Wicker Basket Set from QVC for $48 7. A countertop compost bin Credit: Bamboozle Keep your scraps out of sight with this bamboo bin. I recently tested a range of compost bins on the market for both indoor collection and outdoor spaces. This indoor bin from Bamboozle was one of my favorites, and it was runner-up for the indoor bins. I loved that the materials (mostly bamboo) and shipping materials were plastic-free and recyclable. I now keep this bin on my countertop or hang it on a hook in my kitchen when the counter is a bit crowded. If you’re looking to reduce food waste and ready to start composting, this sleek bin is wonderful. I do recommend getting it in the darker color though since the cream color stains easily from fruit and veggies. Get the Bamboozle Compost Bin from Amazon for $39.99 8. Plants for a pop of green Credit: FloridaPlantsGardens These ferns are light, airy, and quick to take up space! A new plant is the perfect thing to welcome in the spring for obvious reasons. This asparagus fern is a great addition to your indoor plant collection or a good one to start with for beginners, especially since it is relatively easy to take care of. Despite its name, it is not related to vegetable and is more pleasing to the eye than the stomach. Based on my experience these little guys grow pretty rapidly, adding plenty of green to your home. Get the Florida Plants Gardens Asparagus Sprengeri Fern from Etsy for $12.97 9. A textured throw Credit: Urban Outfitters Doesn't this texture make you want to stay on the couch? Spring is a bit of an in-between season. My roommate and I have been debating whether 40-degree weather is winter or spring—but we do agree that blankets, especially cute and cozy ones, will keep us at the right temperature until we can open the windows and let fresh air in. This tufted-throw blanket from Urban Outfitter is the perfect size for wrapping yourself up on the couch or adding on top of your duvet for another layer of warmth. The throw comes in natural colors that will complement midcentury, bohemian, industrial, and minimalist decor. Get the Aden Tufted Throw Blanket from Urban Outfitters for $69 10. A hammock chair Credit: Highwild Add this comfy chair to your porch or backyard. Warmer weather means more opportunities to sit outside on your front porch or in your backyard. When the time comes, you’ll want to be prepared with a comfortable place to sit like this personal hammock chair swing. This is the perfect spot to bask in the sun and let time pass you buy as you read and sip on an iced tea or write in your journal. If you don’t have any porch or yard space, don't worry. You can still enjoy this hammock. It’s easy to move and can be hung from a tree in a park or indoors to turn your room into a zen oasis. Get the Hanging Rope Hammock Chair from Amazon for $42.99 11. Bright, versatile dishcloths Credit: Anthropologie Add some color to your picnic basket. I love kitchen items, especially multi-purpose ones. I don’t use paper towels in order to reduce waste and be more sustainable, so I have a large collection of tea towels and dishcloths for cleaning, eating, and cooking. This six-pack of dishcloths is bright and charming. You can use them to dry dishes, wipe down counters, dust surfaces, and keep your hands clean during picnics. I can’t recommend these enough, and reviewers agree that they are of great quality and just as vibrant as the photos show. Get the Woven Geo Dishcloths, 6 Pack from Anthropologie for $24 12. A whimsical recipe card tin Credit: Rifle Paper Co. Keep your recipes in one place. Though I have an extensive Pinterest board of recipes, nothing compares to a handwritten recipe card. I have a few from my grandma and mom’s collection, and I’ve started to write my go-to recipes out on large index cards as well. The cards are easier to keep on the counter than my laptop or a cookbook, and you can laminate them to make them last. But you’ll need a place to store your recipes, and no tin is better than the floral ones from Rifle Paper Co. The tins are practical and whimsical, and if you’re a fan of the pattern you can match it with other accessories like your apron, phone case, and more. Get the Recipe Tin from Rifle Paper Co. for $34 13. Air plants Credit: The Sill You can display air plants any way you like. Air plants are little pops of life that you can display in a variety of ways. You can place them in glass globes on the wall, in a basket or tray on your coffee table, or add them as accents to your bookshelves. They don’t take much work, just a weekly soak to keep them perky. They’re a great alternative to potted plants if you don’t have much space or have pets who dig in the soil. This pack of six air plants is only $30, and the plants range in size so you can mix and match them as you decorate. Get the Air Plant Assortment from The Sill for $30 14. A bag for pretty much everything Credit: Urban Outfitters Keep this bag right by the door. Market bags are pretty popular and you’ve probably seen your favorite influencers carrying one as a purse or grocery bag. They’re common in zero-waste bundles as well, and for good reason. A good market bag can be used to carry fresh produce, flowers, or your daily essentials like your water bottle, purse, and phone. In addition to being transporting your goods, you can use it to store produce once you get home by hanging it a nail or hook or store it in the fridge. This bag can also be folded up to fit into a tiny purse so you’re prepared for any shopping emergency. Get the To-Go Market Bag from Urban Outfitters for $9 15. A tray to improve your baths Credit: Royal Craft Wood Take longer baths with a tray for your wine and books. I love taking a bath to wind down, especially since Daylight Saving Time has me a bit off my routine. Though I love relaxing, I tend to get bored and prop up my laptop to watch a TV show or awkwardly hunch to read a book. If you’re in the same boat, upgrade your baths with a tray that’s made to hold all your things. A mug of tea or glass of wine can sit in the coaster area. You can place a candle, lotions, face masks, essential oils, a vase of flowers, or bath salts to keep everything you use within reach. And the tray has several ridges to keep your phone, book, or tablet in place (and dry). Get the Bathtub Caddy Tray from Amazon for $49.97 The product experts at Reviewed have all your shopping needs covered. The Best Dog Beds of 2020: Orthopedic, Raised, Memory Foam, and More
This post contains affiliate links. As we’ve incorporated more in-house testing of pet products here at The Dog People, tapping the expertise of our team of dog-loving writers (as well as an obliging pool of Rover office dogs) along the way, we’ve put a lot of dog beds to the test. To select the best dog beds in 2020, we reviewed some of our most recent, most popular articles about dog beds and let our dogs weigh in. Our list includes beds for everyday and outdoor use, for dogs with special needs (got a chewer on your hands?), and even beds we ranked for style. Whatever you choose, rest assured, your dog will rest…assured!
The Best Dog Beds of 2020
From orthopedic memory foam to raised beds that keep a dog cool in hot weather, we’ve rounded up some of the best dog beds of 2020, based on our in-house tests.
Most Rugged Bed: Carhartt Durable Canvas Dog Bed (Verified Review)
Made from 100 percent cotton canvas, this dog bed can withstand years of chomping, wet paws, and enthusiastic digging. The nontoxic water-repellent coating makes it easy to keep clean, but its triple-stitch seams and sturdy brass zipper hold up to years of spin cycles. Verified review: Our tester noted that the bed is a good size, yet lightweight and easy to move around. For more about this bed, check out our video review below. Shop on Amazon
Best Memory Foam Dog Bed: Bark Box Memory Foam Dog Bed (Verified Review)
Brought to you by the popular pet toy brand, Bark Box, this memory foam dog bed comes in four sizes and four colors. Waterproof and machine-washable, it contains a combo of memory foam and gel foam to support joints. Verified review: “We tested this bed at our Rover office and found that our canine coworkers quickly gravitate to it as a napping spot, including a senior beagle and a chew-prone terrier mix, Vera. The gray color is quite plain and the bed looks a bit thin coming out of the box, but it’s surprisingly sturdy and soft for the price. It didn’t seem that it would stand up to heavy chewers, but so far, it’s done well with Vera, who’s known to nibble up beds. We can easily imagine washing it, too, as it would fit handily into an average washing machine, unlike some of the other washable beds we’ve tried. Not only that, but the bed comes with a cute small toy—which Vera promptly slobbered all over.” We sourced this review from our article, Affordable Dog Beds: 15 Dog Beds That Won’t Break the Bank. Shop on Amazon
Most Stylish Dog Bed: Orvis National Park Bed (Verified Review)
This mash-up between high-quality pet product manufacturer Orvis and Western-style mavens Pendleton is not just ultra-comfortable, it looks great. The bed insert is like a medium-firm pillow (the company describes the filling to be a “plush memory fiber material”), and its polyester-fleece cover is durable and machine washable. Verified review: This bed proved to be a big hit with our tester’s pet family—a senior beagle and two full-figured cats—who traded turns using it. Available in small, medium, large, and extra-large sizes, we tested the medium, which out of the box looked on the large side but soon proved to be just the right size for the constant parade of pets getting cozy on it and trying it out. (This jives with the bed’s sizing chart that suggests ordering a size up based on your dog’s size; if your dog is “small,” order a “medium,” etc.) After a few days of constant use (and a few hissy fits), the bed became covered with pet hair and dirt, but stood up well to a few heavy vacuuming sessions.” Shop on Amazon
Best Elevated Bed: Kuranda Elevated Bed (Verified Review)
These indestructible beds are frequently used and loved by shelters and rescues, so you know they’re tough! Heavy-duty tubular support made of PVC or aluminum pipes hides and protects the fabric platform from chewers. There are lots of sizes, covers, and upgrades available, and all have a one-year warranty. Verified review: “The item came in a box and required a bit of assembly. The box did not contain instructions for assembly so I found a video on YouTube. Took about 15 minutes. The bed is simple in design and attractive. I like the simplicity of this bed and my puppy really enjoys it. She likes to lay on it with her blanket and seems to like the netting style. The medium size offers plenty of room. We don’t have any complaints about the product. I would have appreciated having some setup instructions in the box but overall, my dog really enjoys this bed. I have this set up at the Rover office and am considering another for home.” Shop on Amazon
Best Dog Bed Splurge: Big Barker Pillow Top Orthopedic Pet Bed (Verified Review)
This American-made orthopedic bed was designed with larger breeds in mind. Big Barker combines seven inches of memory foam with a soft, washable microfiber cover for a bed that never goes flat. A 10-year warranty on each bed guarantees it. Verified review: “This bed is outrageously comfortable. So comfortable, in fact, that we considered throwing a sheet on it and using it for sleepovers. It absolutely lives up to expectations: It’s huge, comfortable, and high-quality. But I’ve really gotta emphasize the “huge” here. You need primo floor real estate to make space for this thing (ed note: Our reviewer tested this bed in size extra large for her husky). You’re investing in a high-quality and rather enormous new addition to your home. But if you can swing it (and have the room for it) your dog will love you for it. The only “complaint” (if you can call it that) that I have is that this bed is more than big, it’s huuuuge. But that’s what I signed up for and boy did they deliver! It’s a terrific, exceptionally comfortable dog bed for big dogs who love a little luxury.” Shop on Amazon
Best Bed for Senior or Accident-Prone Pups: Dogbed4less Premium Memory Foam Dog Bed (Verified Review)
This memory foam dog bed comes with a waterproof liner, as well as two external covers—one made of machine-washable denim and the other brown microsuede—making it ideal for older pups with less bladder control. The interior is made of top quality, hypoallergenic gel memory foam to help soothe achy joints that will stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Verified review: Our reviewer, a Rover sitter, found that both her own dogs and the Rover dogs she hosted were, as she says, “obsessed” with this bed, especially with the microsuede cover. (She observed that the denim cover was not as popular, possibly because the material was too stiff; but because it’s machine-washable, after a few runs in the wash, it could soften up.) One of her dogs who usually preferred the floor to his existing dog bed even took to using it. “He seems really comfortable and relaxed,” she said, noting that the bed was “very high quality, felt great, and appears to be supporting his joints extremely well.” Shop on Amazon
Best Bed for Hot Weather: The Original Elevated Pet Bed by Coolaroo (Verified Review)
Because it’s so lightweight and easy-to-clean, this versatile Coolaroo dog bed is great for both indoor and outdoor use. It boasts a powder-coated steel frame and breathable high density polyethylene fabric that keeps dogs cool and off the ground. While there’s no soft cushioning as with other dog beds, its 7-inch elevated platform design helps relieve pressure points and promotes more restful sleep. Verified review: “The metal looked high quality, and I really liked the color it came in. I like that this bed allows my dog a spot to chew or lay on without being directly on the grass. The dogs were all interested in it, and my Boston terrier uses it as her default place to chew on her bone. It’s still holding up well through wind, heavy rain, and direct sunshine—and it’s small enough to store away for the winter.” Shop on Amazon

The high walls keep Ginger warm, and it’s really soft.” Buy on Amazon
Best Bolster Bed: PetFusion Ultimate Pet Bed (Verified Review)
This hard-working dog bed landed on our list of the best indestructible dog beds for its chew-resistant properties, but we are basing its inclusion on this list for the number of boxes it checks in a single dog bed: it features a 4-inch memory foam base; comes with a machine-washable, tear- and water-resistant cover; and offers sturdy, nearly 360 degrees of bolstering support if you have a dog who likes a pillow (the most bolstering we’ve seen in just about all the dog beds we’ve tested). Verified review: Tried and tested by Rover office dogs, “we were impressed with the quality of the PetFusion bed, which lives up to the “ultimate” in its name. If your dog likes to burrow, like mine, I throw a fuzzy blanket or two on top, and he’s happy as can be. The bed was a 10/10 with our dogs.” Buy Dog Beds On Amazon
Best Couch Bed: Serta Orthopedic Couch Dog Bed (Verified Review)
Made with orthopedic foam, this Serta couch dog bed is a great choice for older dogs as well as dogs who might benefit from more support (while giving you a dog bed that actually, sort of, resembles real furniture). The machine-washable cover comes in faux leather or upholstery fabric, and the three sides of bolsters allow your dog to sleep in a variety of positions. Verified Review: “Whiskey wanted to nest in this bed and treat it like a den. No more circling around and around to get comfortable. He’s been having some spine and nerve issues, so the orthopedic foam mattress is a plus. I really love the color, too. His blonde hairs blend in. The mattress was especially cushy—it felt as nice as my human bed!” Buy Now on Amazon
Best Outdoor Dog Bed: K-9 Ruff n’ Tuff Bed (Verified Review)
This chew-resistant dog bed’s cover is removable and machine-washable, but the opening is hidden because dogs love to dig and claw at zippers. It’s also waterproof for indoor/outdoor comfort. Our tester loved that it was made from recycled materials, yet felt very durable. Verified review: “Mable likes to dig in her beds, which has been a problem with dog beds because some are cheaply made and will easily rip. When she starting digging, the bed barely flinched. The stuffing of the bed is perfect and doesn’t clump up on one-side (which is common with other dog beds) so it definitely exceeded my expectations. This bed is perfect for inside, outside, the car, work—everywhere! This bed is so comfy that I could easily fall asleep on it myself.” Dog Beds On Amazon
Best Travel Dog Bed: K9 Ballistics Tough Rectangle Bed (Verified Review)
This washable, durable, waterproof dog bed from the trusted K9 brand is up for anything you can throw at it, which makes it great for travel and the car. It’s tough, easy to clean, and stands up to bored dogs with a tendency to chew (K9 notes it’s chew-resistant but not entirely “chew-proof”). It comes in a variety of solid colors and sizes. Verified review: “It’s thicker than I expected, more like a plush pillow, and the cover feels very sturdy. The zipper is strong and easy to use. I’d feel confident removing and replacing the cover if I needed to. Though it’s not exactly soft to the touch thanks to its tough nylon cover (which feels more like a canvas tent cover, say, than a blanket), my dog loves this bed. She is very happy to flop out across it. I am pleased with its durability because after one month of use, she has yet to tear even a small hole into it. She occasionally scratches at it, as if to bury her toys in it, and hasn’t even made a dent. You can’t tell, in fact, that a dog uses it unless you look closely because the fabric is basically fur-repellent. It’s very easy to wipe off. Easy to put the bed inside the cover and zip up!” Find on Amazon

I’ll answer this one since I got truly disappointed by her. I never tried to write fic for Pern or anything, but I remember a fan she really screwed over in the early 00’s. This fan made plush fire lizards and sent one to Anne and asked for permission to sell for cost, no money to be made, just materials. Anne said yes and even endorsed it on her website. The plushies would be given out at a particular conference, and they were made to order. The fan got several orders and bought the fabric and other materials and got started on the work. The fan didn’t ask for deposits or anything, bought the materials with their own money. As soon as the work started and fans started getting excited about their own lizards, Anne went nuts, pulled her endorsement, and vilified the fan. This was a really good incident of fans rebelling against the author, because most of the fans were upset not only on the artist’s behalf, but they had wanted the plushies. This was also right around the time that the sci fi channel had been sniffing around to make a mini series about pern, so there was speculation that Anne had wanted to capitalize off the idea of selling licensed plushies, so naturally she couldn’t have a fan making something unlicensed. Anne was too difficult for sci fi channel, and the earthsea adaptation was a huge flop (that’s another story entirely), and the project was dropped, and many fans were left with a bad taste in their mouths.
I think the fan eventually decided to sell the plushies on Etsy, which was a brand new site at the time, but they made sure to not mention pern or Anne or call them fire lizards.
The other terrible thing was that Anne would NOT allow the characters to be gay. Blue and green riders were always men, and it is strongly implied in the books (and author confirmed) that when the dragons mate, the riders do too. Anne was super invested in making sure we all knew that they only felt that way during mating season, and only when the dragons were frisky. There was also always a clear top and bottom. I think the blues were bottoms and greens were tops? But I can’t remember because this shit made me drop the fandom. Anyway, she’s super homophobic, and she’s been very transphobic in the past. I’m not saying she hasn’t/won’t change, but be aware that she’s been really nasty in the past.
When fandom wank was still active, they called McCaffery and Rice the “crazy Anne’s.” It seemed that they did dumb stuff practically every other week, and that they were always trying to outdo each other. I’m talking responding to negative reviews on amazon and good reads, and even blog posts. McCaffery was bad about linking a negative review so her fans could troll the reviewer and make them wish they’d nevwr even heard of her.
So I’m on AO3 and I see a lot of people who put “I do not own [insert fandom here]” before their story.
Like, I came on this site to read FAN fiction. This is a FAN fiction site. I’m fully aware that you don’t own the fandom or the characters. That’s why it’s called FAN FICTION.
