I would like to share this theory I put in discord because I swear if I’m correct I’m going to feel so big brained.
This theory is in reference to the Stranger Things 5 episode “The Turnbow Trap.”
Firstly, it is confirmed that the kid with Erica is the Turnbow’s child. Originally before I learned about the realty I did some research and I discovered that Turnbow Trailers is a real company that was about nearly 30 when ST5 takes place. These trailers were specifically for horses.
In the BTS video we have the one shot with Erica and the Turnbow kid in what appear to be horse stables. Assuming the Turnbow family is wealthy due to real estate it would make sense they would own horses. My theory is that they will be attempting to trap one of the Upside Down monsters in one of the Turnbow Horse Trailers.
Also just LOOK at this magnificent horse trailer from 1987!! It’s technically a Tracer Horse Trailer, but you get the idea!!

THE EPISODE TITLES IN OTHER LANGUAGES
In Greek, the official s5 titles are:
Ep1-The Crawl: The mission
I think there was a theory on here about this episode being a rescue mission of some kind and apparently it was right, which is super interesting
Like, who are we rescuing, hello?
Ep2-The vanishing of (?): The disappearance of(?)
What's interesting about this one is that, in greek, it's "η εξαφάνιση της (?)" and "της" means that the following name is a woman's (idk how to explain it lmao, it's female pronoun basically)
So this is definitely about Holly like we thought
Ep3- The Turnbow trap
Ep4-Sorcerer: Wizard
Mixed signals here, cause they used "Μάγος" which can translate to sorcerer but also to magician and wizard
It could refer to a dark wizard of some sort but it could also be referring to Will
They didn't use "κληρικός" (cleric), possibly cause it does not sound as cool lmao
Ep5-Shock Jock: Electroshock
I've seen a lot of different countries translate this one into electroshock, no clue what this could be about
Ep6-Escape from Camazotz: Escape from planet Camazotz
No new information here, but I must say the Wrinkle in time references are CRAZYYY, HELLO???
Ep7- The Bridge
Ep8-Right side up: The real world

Okay guys, I’m making an episode post!!! Already posted a short one on Escape From Camazotz, but here’s a brief interpretation and meaning of each episode title! And please, this is an interpretation, not concrete proof!
Episode 1: The Crawl
Ok, I've seen a lot of people translating this and interpreting it to be an episode about a mission, and while this could be right, I think there’s more to it. We all know very well about the show’s constant references to DND, the roleplaying game the party loves. In DND terms, a crawl, or a dungeon crawl, is a scenario in which players must navigate through a sort of maze, “dungeon” if you will, while battling monsters, avoiding traps, and solving puzzles.
So, this episode might be a mission, as has been said many times, but it could also be in a maze of types. A possible terrain in the UD? I just find it very interesting.
Episode 2: The Vanishing of —----------------
Ok, this has pretty much been confirmed for being Holly Wheeler, considering how much she’s appeared in recent bts pictures, but Nancy and Karen fit the 5 letter pieces don’t they? Just a thought, though it probably is Holly.
As for what it could mean in dnd terms, not much really, just some vanishing spells, but this episode will definitely be interesting!
Episode 3: The Turnbow Trap
I was hoping to find this as a dnd term as well, but sadly, it was not. I did find something else rather interesting though. Turnbow is the Americanized version of the Alsatian name Dürrenbach, which means dry stream. So “The dry stream trap,” what could that mean? I was honestly puzzled at this for a while and I couldn’t figure it out. What do you guys think?
Episode 4: Sorcerer
Okay, we're all clearly thinking of Will Byers here. Maybe not a cleric, but a Sorcerer is quite similar. Clerics are more medicinal, healers by class. On the other hand, Sorcerers are masters of arcane magic, which is using magic energy in the world to manipulate reality through spells. This definitely ties in to the theory that the UD is Wills mindscape.
Episode 5: Shock Jock
Shock jocks are essentially radio broadcasters or talk show hosts who entertain listeners by using humor that is mildly offensive to some people. This could totally be a reference to Dustin, considering his constant tinkering with radios. Maybe he’ll be in charge of radios or somehow be part of a secret news source. There are many theories, really.
Episode 6: Escape from Camazotz
Oh, I love this one. In dnd, Camazotz is the Olman god of bats and horrible things that fly in the night. ANd who got killed by bats in the previous season of Stranger Things? Eddie Munson! No, I don’t think this means he’ll come back, but I do think he’ll be a villain of sorts.
There’s something else, though. Camazotz is also a planet in A Wrinkle In Time, which has been theorized a lot in Stranger Things. Camazotz is essentially a dark planet controlled by evil. People who live there don’t have their own thoughts and are controlled by a central brain called IT. Remind you of anyone? Yeah, Vecna (No not It from It lol). Camazotz more specifically defines what happens when someone just hands over their free will. Sort of like what Vecna does with his victims. He tries to make them accept their death before he kills them.
Episode 7: The Bridge
This one was pretty hard for me to really analyze. I’ve looked through dnd searches and tried to look for meanings of bridges in ST, but I haven’t really found much. Generally, its communication and union, which is kind of conflicting, considering the goal for the final season is to destroy the UD. Maybe I’m looking too much into things, and it’s a literal bridge into the UD. All I could really find is in the movie Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, a bridge is crumbled by a sorcerer, but that’s really it.
Maybe it has something to do with the UD being Wil’’s mindscape, and it’s a sort of bridge he creates between the two worlds. Or maybe he is the bridge between the UD and the normal world.
Episode 8: The Rightside Up
I think this one’s pretty self explanatory. The UD will be destroyed and everything will be Rightside Up again. Just like the last episode of Stranger Things Season 1 was called the Upside Down, this is the plain opposite. It will be the episode where Hawkins is saved, and Vecna, whatever he is, is defeated for good. (and byler becomes endgame :) )
Hope you liked this analysis! It was really fun to make! And please leave your interpretations in the comments if you saw something differently! Thanks :)

To kick off Stranger Things Day 2024 we got the episode titles for Season 5! Which are as follows:
The Crawl
The Vanishing of **Redacted**
The Turnbow Trap
Sorcerer
Shock Jock
Escape from Camazotz
The Bridge
The Rightside Up
I feel like The Crawl has to be something to do with Vecna. Like maybe he's crawling out of somewhere or to something? For Chapter 2 I feel like the person vanishing is probably Holly Wheeler. They recast the actress playing her this season and she got a lot of screentime in the BTS Teaser Trailer. And in the clips they gave us you can see the lights flicking and her staring at something horrifying.
I think the Sorcerer is likely about Will the Wise and is going to be a Will focused episode. This might be where we see a lot of the flashbacks to his time in the Upside Down that they've been filming. I think Shock Jock is about Jimmy Fasthands Lee the guy we saw advertised on the WSQK Radio Station poster or it's got something to do with Dustin either working or volunteering at the radio station.
For Escape from Camazotz I have a few theories. It could be about our heroes escaping from the lab or Vecna’s lair maybe? Or it could be about them escaping from a military base? I think The Bridge refers to a bridge between worlds and will have something to do with crossing the boundary between the Upside Down and the Right Side Up.
And lastly, I love that they chose The Rightside Up as the final chaper title for the series! It's such a cool callback and it really brings everything full circle. I think this episode is going to be about the characters returning to Hawkins from the Upside Down and us seeing the end of their journey.
It's interesting that Chapters 4 - 6 don’t begin with word “the.” I didn't notice that until a friend pointed it out to me, but now I can't stop wondering what it means. I wonder if it has something to do with D&D gameplay or the sections that the story is broken up into like a beginning, middle, and end?
The caption for this video reads "In the fall of 1987, one last adventure begins. Stranger Things 5 coming 2025." which means there will be a 17 month time jump in Season 5 which will take us from the Spring of 1986 to the Fall of 1987. This is certainley a surprise given what the Duffer Brothers had previously said in interviews about Season 5 dovetailing off of Season 4 and how they did all of the set up in Season 4 so they could jump right into the action in Season 5 right from the get go.
I suspect they made this change because so much time has passed since filming wrapped on Season 4 and the younger actors have aged so significantly they could no longer pass for middle schoolers or freshman. Which is a shame! It also leaves a lot of questions to be answered. Like how did the town survive for 17 months with the Upside Down fully merging into Hawkins? Has Max been in a coma for 17 months? Did the older teens leave for college and university? I guess we'll find out in 2025!

Episodes' titles in in other languages
"The Crawl" is ,,Odsiecz" which is aid; backup; relieving troops
"The Turbow Trap" is ,,The trap at The Turnbows' (place)''
"Shock jock'' is ,,Electroshock"
"Sorcerer" is ,,Warlock/Magician'' (with a vibe of a Dark Wizard)
now;
Was there a D&D analyses done on here about the Crawl being a rescue mission? Bc I can't find it so maybe i made that up but. Super cool!!! Who are we rescuing!!!! Bc there are a lot of people to save!!!!!!!
The Turnbows?? I was really curious about this, as in, who is the huntsman and who's the pray in this plot, but?? It couldn't be our mains getting trapped bc well. We would know. And by this it sounds like they're using the Turnbows' place to place a trap???
"Shock Jock" was fun and all because of the radio station and well, all that a shock jock is; however. In polish this basically means convulsion therapy lmao.
And also, "Sorcerer" is weirdly close but not, and it's probably just lack of attention to details from the translation team if we're talking about D&D classes orrrrrr ,,Czarownik" sounds cooler than ,,Zaklinacz" orrrrrr ,,Czarownik'' actually gives off more of a 'Dark Wizard' vibe. And ,,Zaklinacz'' is giving "(ghost) whisperer"; (stand alone word-wise, not dnd-class-wise) and it might be plot related. Prolly not lmao
And it's giving mixed sygnals bc of course in polish his class is also czarodziej/kapłan (wizard/cleric-ish).
I think those are all my thoughts for now, I wonder if one day we'll have destiel level of inter-language troubles.
Share your native language finds, I'm curious!!!

the episode titles of stranger things 5 in portuguese with translations:
Missão de Resgate / Rescue Mission -- The Crawl in English
O Desaparecimente de ... -- The Vanishing of ...
A Armadilha de Turnbow -- the Turnbow Trap
Feitiçaria / Sorcery, Witchcraft -- Sorcerer in English
Plano de Choque / Shock Plan (or something of the sort) -- Shock Jock in English
Fuga de Camazotz -- Escape from Camazotz
A Ponte -- The Bridge
O Mundo Real / The Real World -- The Rightside Up
Now episodes one, four and five are the which have the most change.
Sorcerer is a person, but in portuguese it is sorcery in general, not a specific person. It is probably about Will tho, as Will the Wise (three episodes with his name is main character energy)
Who are are they rescuing, Max?
Note: in portuguese "desaparecimento" is more directly translated into "disappearance" but "vanishing" is also used, and this way the episode is translated in the same way as ep1, "the vanishing of will byers" = "o desaparecimento de will byers"

Stranger Things S5 Title Theories
Alright guys, I know that we were all expecting (and hoping for) a teaser. Believe, I wish we got one as well and we've been very patient. That being said, the episode titles do offer us some information about what could happen. Let's break it down (to the best of our abilities)!
The Crawl: Based on the script tease from the Duffers, I imagine we open with Will in the Upside Down and we learn more about how he survived. I can also see the episode focusing on much of the fallout from the ending of S4 and what Hawkins post Vecna looks like. Similar to the final season of the Bad Batch from Star Wars, we could see a time skip half way through this episode, showing just how much as changed since Vecna.
The Vanishing of ******: Holly Wheeler is the top contender for the blurred out name. Whether or not it's her, I have two theories. Theory number 1 is that the missing person is taken by Vecna into the Upside Down. Vecna does tell Nancy that he will kill her family and I can see him kidnapping someone close to her in order to mess with her. My other theory is that maybe they're still testing kids in a place like the lab. This one is more of a stretch. But we don't know what Linda Hamilton's role is yet.
The Turnbow Trap: While I'm not sure about this one, I do think this will be a mostly planning and action heavy episode. The kids do like setting traps and if they can get Vecna (or any other monster) in it, then it could be considered successful. Turnbow does sound like the name of something, family or company, so the trap is definitely connected to it somehow.
Sorcerer: My first thought was a Will-centric episode because Will dressed up as a wizard when he used his DnD alias "Will the Wise." It would be nice to explore his connection to the Upside Down more, especially now that Vecna is involved. Vecna and Will never met, but they do have some similarities with the biggest one being the Mindflayer. The First Shadow reveals that Henry was influenced by the Mindflayer, turning him into the evil man we know today. Will similarly was controlled by the Mindflayer. My other theory is that this episode is about Eleven. El is dubbed at the Party's mage, which is a spellcaster. It's highly possible we could see her try and go up against Vecna again only to disastrous results. What do you guys think?
Shock Jock: A shock jock is "a disc jockey on a talk-radio show who expresses opinions in a deliberately offensive or provocative way." Throughout the photos we'v been given, there's been a recurrent theme of the kids going to a radio building (?). I definitely think that the episode could be centered around the town, similar to what happened with Jason in S4.
Escape from Camazotz: This is the episode I'm probably most excited for. There are two theories I have regarding Camazotz. Camazotz refers to a "death bat" in Maya mythology. It symbolizes sacrifice so we could see someone dying to Vecna or another monster of the upside down. However, I personally think that this is episode where Max comes back. Max is currently in a coma right now and there are speculations that her mind is stuck in Vecna's mind lair. Camazotz is the name of the planet home to the malevolent entity the IT in "A Wrinkle in Time." Now, I've only seen the movie, but from what I remember, Camazotz is a strange place with strange people. It doesn't present as this evil looking place. Throughout the story, Meg and her brother Charles Wallace try to find their lost dad, who was imprisoned on Camazotz by the IT. The IT, an incredibly manipulative being, tries to stop our heroes and make them succumb to its will. Swinging back to Stranger Things, what if we see Max escaping from Vecna's mind lair. Vecna is like the IT and his lair is Camazotz. We could see El trying to go into her mind again and pulling her to safety. Or... it could just be the heroes fighting off some bat creature from the Upside Down, but I prefer the Max theory.
The Bridge: My first thought outside a literal bridge is a bridge between worlds. Maybe the heroes try and close the gap that currently connects the Upside Down to our world. And by doing so, traps Vecna here. If he can't go back and hide in the Upside Down, then maybe the heroes have a chance at beating him.
Rightside Up: The final battle between good and evil for our heroes of Hawkins. Everything is tested and there will be casualties. However, our heroes will come out triumphant in the end, with the threat of the Upside Down being gone permanently.
Anyways, those are my thoughts. What do you think will happen? I'd love to hear your theories and ideas!

this has probably been posted now, but here: latam spanish season 5 episode titles:
ep 1 - "The Crawl" becomes "the mission" (big change, still vague tho)
ep. 2 "The Vanishing of ___" is translated straightfoward (no further clues)
ep. 3 "The Turnbow Trap" was also translated directly, implying that Turnbow is a proper noun -no apparent pun.
ep. 4 "Sorcerer", same deal. "Hechicería" is a neutral word that could mean both 'good' and 'bad' witchcraft (really depends on the region), but it's noteworthy that "hechicero" is used excluisively for masc subjects.
ep. 5 "Shock Jock". Fun fact, there isn't a single way to translate 'provocateur radio host' to Spanish that would be understandable in all regions. However, the dubbers could've gone with "agitador" o "escandaloso" (both words work as nouns and adjectives to reference the 'shock value' part), but instead they went with this ⚡
(which, yes, translates to 'electroshock' [!])
ep. 6 "Escape from Camazotz" also got a straightfoward translation.
ep. 7 "The Bridge", also an easy one.
ep 8 "The Rightside Up" just got the opposite of the localization of The Upside Down, "this side (up)"
#going feral about episode 5#stranger things#stranger things s5#st5#st spoilers#im curious about how the title of ep 5 got localized in version française since they do have an equivalent to shock jock that's also argot#byler#<- target audience#stranger things international#stranger things day
