Kimberly understood where Soren was coming from as she offered up advice of her own. “Yeah…I’ll keep that in mind.” she agreed with a nod. It was her choice at the end of the day and she knew that in due time, she was bound to figure it out and get the necessary help she needed. “Thanks Soren, I appreciate your support always." She paused as a sudden thought came to mind, "I think I want to spar more. Get back into the swing of things...I feel like the desk job kind of held me up when it came to trying to fight back. Do you have that personal trainer's number who also does boxing?"

Soren was the last person that could ask people to get help or go to therapy. She was incredibly old school when it came to dealing with her trauma like she was taught: she avoided it. Her feelings, her temper, everything that she could ignore, Soren would. But looking at Kim, it was very clear that there was no easy way to deal with the trauma of a kidnapping, of being a hostage. "I think you should do what makes it easier for you, Kim. Nothing else and nothing more." She admitted softly, and really meant it too. She didn't know Benji at all, but he seemed good to Kimberly and that was all that mattered in Soren's eyes. Her friend being treated properly and trying to move on from all of this. "I'm so glad that you have each other, I really am." She hoped that their bond could only get stronger after this life-threatening situation that they were stuck in. "That's good. If you need anything though, Kim, let me know, okay?"

I am Fifth Business

Has anyone read the book "Fifth Business" by Robertson Davies? It was a book I had to read in grade 12 english class. It's one a own and have read many times.

I'm thinking about it tonight, probably going to pick it up to read it again very soon.

Someone posted in a Discord that I am in about how they are thinking about how their life would be different if they had made different choices. They also wondered if this was it for their life.

It made me remember this book.

We know that we shouldn't "what if" our past choices because without those choices we wouldn't be who we are today. Which is good if you don't hate yourself. If you hate yourself then it makes sense that you would have regrets. I tell my nieces (and have also told my chat), we are the sum of our experiences, both good and bad.

Not everyone in life can be a main character. Not everyone has a big purpose in this world. Some of us are here to help others progress. We are the Fifth Business. I know for me, I am the Fifth Business. I'm okay with it. I just want to be loved along the way :)
